Reviews:
This is an amazing tuner that does what it's supposed to with no issues. I would recommend this over a standard guitar/bass tuner since it can detect pitches that fall outside the range of standard tuning since it is chromatic, and that means it suits alternate tunings. The flip out stand on the back is also a great feature. I have the tuner propped up on top of my amp and it looks as great as it functions. Having an input/output makes it even more versatile since you can leave it plugged in to the amp all the time and not worry since it has bypass which means sound passes through even when the tuner is off. And if you have an acoustic guitar? No problem, this tuner also has a built-in microphone. The only downside is that is has no illuminated screen. Unfortunately is seems Korg does not offer an illuminated version of this model, but you really can't complain as this is one of the best tuners you can get at this price point. Features: Chromatic, good for alternate tunings. True bypass Simple operation Microphone Buit-in stand Small, unobtrusive. Cons: No metronome No illuminated screen. Sometimes has trouble detecting really low notes, otherwise pretty accurate.alan
This is a good tuner for 6 string guitars, 7 string guitars, and basses, provided that they are in standard tuning. However, if you use alternate tuning, it may confuse one for the other. When I tuned my 6 string electric down to C#, the tuner kept trying to find the 7 string low 'b', making it useless. Although it has a 'flat' control, a simple manual select switch would solve everything.Jeff

Reviews:
I've had all kinds of tuners. Back in the old days, we didn't use tuners. Now they're in amps and it seems, everywhere else. I've tried the kind that clip on the head stock, the ones that lay on the floor, and the ones in the amps. I recently bought an ABY switch which has an additional output for a tuner and that solved my problem. This tuner has an in and no out. So, I just clip it to my music stand and I see it up high, don't have to look down to the floor, or back to the amp, or try to find it on my head stock. It's just right there on my music stand next to my music. Works super good. I have no need for chromatic so this has all the functionality required for my needs, and it is affordable. I like Korg brand name. It's automatic turn off saves battery life, and the battery life is huge to begin with. It has a dial as well as green and red (# & b) lights. I can keep my head held high and no one even knows I am using a tuner.Almost there
OK as a basic tuner. The 'sound' function produces a dire 'square-wave' tone which is difficult to match with a guitar's sound. Also, I should have noticed no 'output' socket so you can't leave it plugged in permanently. It uses AAA batteries which I've never had great faith in. Only a tenner, so reasonable value. No comparison to my old Boss TU80 which I've lost/had stolen; but this is only 1/4 the price.stace46
was looking for a tuner that can set the in tune display to 432hz, not 440, which is what it sounded like it could do, according to this spec description: Adjustable A430 to 450 Hz Calibration. But what this really means is there is a guide number on the tuner from 430 to 450 – which will not work for me. I need something I can see on a pedal board in a clear and simple way. I assumed that when I adjusted the frequency to 432, that would show in tune in the central position of the electronic needle. but that is not how it works. 432 appears several notches to the left of the central position, which is very hard to read when placed on my board (on the floor). It is lightweight which some may like but it also felt like something I would personally worry about breaking easily. If you are looking for a cheap tuner that tunes to 440, then I am sure this would work for you. Guessing this complaint only applies to a handful of people.

This is a great tuner for the price. I have 4 of these…one for 4 different instrument cases. Very easy to read, easy to use, accurate, and convenient. As a beginning violin student, I love that this tuner shows me exactly how far off I am with my intonation on any given note. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!ralpiggy
Arrived quickly. Cute designs. Small, even though sizes given in pics, was still a surprise how little they are. Not really squishes, more squashies (stretchy plastic) as theres instant bounce back unlike memory foam squishies. Stretchy & still fun to play with. Dd loves them.louisa0969

Reviews:
I use my Korg Pitchblack Mini Tuner to tune both electric and acoustic-electric guitars. So… this is my 1st pedal tuner. I don't have anything to compare it to, but my SNARK and the tuning app on my smart phone. Anyhow, it gets the job done fairly effectively. I also like how it cuts off the signal from my amp when I use it. As for the cons, it uses three 3 volt batteries, which doesn't seem to make it function at 100%. Luckily, it works perfectly w/ a DC9V. Also, in my experience, it's not as easy to tune the low E string in comparison to the other 5 strings. Aside from those 2 things, I'm satisfied with my purchase.Jaime The Tenor
I love the size of this tuner. Fits perfectly in with my basses and offers great display options (Half Strobe being my favorite). The colors chosen are great and the note display large and bold. My only complaint is that this uses (2) CR2032 batteries and the battery cover door was fun to open (it doesn't come off which is good, but you need to know that). Adding a couple spare batteries doesn't take up much room either. Love the little details (feet that turn out to stabilize, external 9v jack, modes).Kevin L.
The KORG Pitchblack PB01 pedal tuner is the greatest thing since sliced bread. This is much easier to use than the flimsy clip-on type tuners. You don't have to use it on the floor; just place the tuner on a table and plug in your guitar. It is easy to tune up this way. I really think this tuner is great…I also ordered the newer version as well. Again, stop fumbling with the clip-on type tuners. This is the way to go: KORG Pitchblack pedal tuners. I'm a happy customer. You should be too.greg k.

Reviews:
Every guitar play would be happy with this turner. I have been using one of the older Korg tuners for over 20 years. My cousin needed a turner, so I gave mine to him and purchased this one for myself. The older on cost over $70.00 when I bought it and I was very happy with it. But the new has it really out classed at an increditably low price. All you have to do with this one is turn it on. It figures out for itself which string you are tuning. Great tuner. Well built and compact. Incredible value.
Simple version of Korg's more elaborate tuners. Very compact, works fine and cheap. Not many features but I like the ability to drop the standard tuning by half steps with a single button push – I keep one of my guitars tuned down a half step and this makes it easy. I have been playing for many years and used many Korgs. I also recommend it to beginners I run into. It's rather lightly built, so a little padded case would be useful but it does not come with one. Don't drop it.tuckerja
This Tuner is very easy to use and bought in particularly to tune my 5 String Bass guitar. It works very well, even for the Low B string. I have also been using it to tune all of my guitars and will consider adding it to my pedal board. It is very useful having the input and output. One feature that I would like to see is a socket for a foot-switch to start tuning. Very fast delivery.gjhweym
7. Korg Pitchclip 2 Plus Clip-On Tuner
Product Details:
The pitchclip 2+ has 2.5 times more meter leds, which allow even more precise pitch adjustment. the basic functions such as calibration and the high tuning accuracy of ±0.1 cents have also been significantly improved. another very practical feature is that the display can be rotated vertically, making it much easier to align the viewing angle. because the pitchclip 2+ fits easily on any instrument from electric to acoustic, from guitar to bass, it is without question an ideal clip-on tuner for everyday use, offering both consistent precision and ease of use. the led meter section brings with it a significantly higher number of lights. in terms of numbers, the pitchclip 2+ contains a total of 17 leds that display pitch accuracy in a particularly detailed and highly visible manner. in addition, a special feature of this tuner is that the brightness varies depending on the pitch of the note played when two leds light up next to each other. a specially designed 12+1 (=#) segment led has been used especially to indicate the fourth (d) and second guitar string (b) in easily distinguishable capital letters. if you want to mount the pitchclip2+ behind the headstock of the guitar, you can easily turn the display vertically so that you can read the capital letters comfortably. the curved clip fulfills its function brilliantly: it ensures that the pitchclip 2+ sits firmly on the headstock, even when you readjust the position of the display.

I bought this a cheap tuner to keep in my case for when I travel. It does the job, but it is not as nice as my PolyTune clip or my snark. The screen is a little dark and hard to read at certain angles and it does not seem to respond as quickly as the others. That said, it is cheap, small and works as intended. Had I tried it before I bought it, I would have kicked out the extra few dollars and gotten another Snark.Matt

Reviews:
Just received this and compared it to two different Snark clip ons and two other brands. All were tried on 2 acoustic guitars, 3 different brands of electric guitars, and both acoustic and electric basses. The Korg tuner was by far, the most accurate of the clip on tuners on all six instruments used for testing.More than any other part of the tests I performed, that alone speaks volumes. There are several additional features that are bonuses that give this Korg tuner extra value, in my opinion. First, you have options of full and half displays of strobe tuning. This can be a tremendous value when you have to intonate a guitar or bass. Second, this tuner uses AAA batteries vs. NiCad batteries, which means each battery is less expensive, and replacements are easily accessible from multiple sources. Third, the tuner has an automatic shutoff after 3 minutes of non-use. This is a huge battery life saver that most other tuners in this price range do not offer. Overall, a great value packed into a small clip on tuner. Well done, Korg.Tom T
I love that it uses one "AAA" battery, it clamps on nice and secure, and is very adjustable and easy to read. But, I find that it is so jumpy, (all over the place jumpy), that it's actually kind of frustrating to use. In the quiet of night, outside with just me and my acoustic guitar, it's jumping all over the place. So, it's not any noise interference, but apparently just the way it works. It would probably be fine for a lot of folks, but I've had tuners that are steady as a rock, no matter how noisy the environment. I've also had tuners that act like this one in a noisy environment. This one is jumpy even when it's quiet. If not for that, it would easily be a five star rating from me.Ray
I bought this to use for my electric guitar during jam sessions. I've tuned my guitar, played a few licks, then checked the tuning again and it'll be way off. Some strings are too sharp, others are too flat. I can't find the consistency with this thing. I've compared it to other digital tuners as well as my analog tuner, 2 phone apps, and Logic Pro's built-in tuner. This tuner's results are mostly different than the others. Sometimes it'll be spot on, but I wouldn't trust it for recording in perfect tone.Lance M

Reviews:
This is a simple and easy to use tuner, especially easy to use in loud environments. The clip on design makes it small enough so you can bring with you anywhere and just stick it in your case, but the ease of use makes it worth every penny. I use it all the time to tune violins and other stringed instruments in a loud environment, and it works perfect every time! This is a real, hands on product review by Sean at Sam Ash Indianapolis.Sean
Compared to similar tuners like the Snark SN-1 and SN-5 this tuner is junk, although tiny junk that occupies very little space in your gear bag. It is hard to position on the head stock so as to be able to read it right-side-up. It is also hard to read because the diode readout is cheap and it mixes uppercase with lowercase letters. The B looks like a 6 and the G looks like a C. After tuning my guitar with this Korg tuner it still didn't sound quite right. I rechecked the tuning with one of my Snark tuners and found several strings still needed some adjustment to be properly in tune. The gizmo will get you in the ball park but then I suggest you do the old 5-5-5-4-5 method to fine tune your instrument. My advice is to spend a bit more for a better tuner and forget about this one.Cat
The Korg PC-1 Pitch Clip features a compact, inconspicuous design that conveniently clips to an instrument and folds down and out of sight when not in use. It has a clear, no-frills LED display that you can see in sunlight, and its tuning is precise and accurate, and thus more reliable than my Snarks with their broader pitch and tuning tolerances. And it's inexpensive, so I bought FOUR!kaleidiscope

12. Korg Solo Tuner, Guitar & Bass
Product Details:
This dedicated guitar and bass tuner lets you select either guitar mode or bass mode for truly easy operation with automatic pitch detection. the ga-1 guitar tuner mode supports 7-string guitars (7b through 1e). the ga-1 bass tuner mode support 6-string basses (low-b, hi-c). a high-sensitivity mic is built-in, allowing easy and accurate tuning of acoustic guitars. the ga-1’s quinta flat tuning mode supports the lowered tunings used in heavy metal styles to give more weight to the sound. until now, dedicated guitar tuners have supported a maximum of only four semitones below standard pitch, but the ga-1 gives you five steps of flatted tuning, extending as far as five semitones below standard pitch, and supporting even super-long scale guitars that are five frets longer than conventional guitars. low-power consumption design allows an amazing 100 hours (approximate) of continuous battery life (a4 continuous input, meter mode, zinc-carbon batteries). * even if the pitch is within the detection range, detection may not be possible for instrumental sounds that contain a large number of overtones or have a rapid decay. if you leave the unit powered-on for 20 minutes without performing any operation, the auto power off function will turn the power off automatically, avoiding unnecessary battery consumption.

For years I stayed away from Korg because my first two broke down. I been using the QuikTune models for years with no problems Sadly they are not on the market anymore. I purchased this model on sale and so far it has not given me any problems. I like the compact size and features it has for the money. Check out the video. FYI because of it's size it uses AAA batteries. Not a big deal.hcury1960
I prefer this type of tuner over the clip type. This tuner is more accurate I believe than the ones that cip on and sometimes scuff the finish. Korg, I believe, made the first portable tuner. Untill then, I always had on stage an expensive Conn tuner. So Korg has been making these little jewels for quite some time.Rick
I bought this as a SDOTD. It was a nice price, and I wanted an extra tuner. I prefer the clip-on variety, though. At first my tuner seemed to have trouble picking up the signal. It seems fine now. My main issue with the tuner is that it's not well lit. Therefore, it's difficult to use. In a dark club without a flashlight, it would be impossible to tell if you're in tune. Even in a room with normal lighting, you have to strain to see what's going on.Mikjams

I used to use a popular phone app for running but it was too distracting and complicated. This has actually helped me learn to get in tune quickly by eliminating all of the fuss. Would definitely recommend for any brass players looking to fix tuning issues. This is simple to use and very intuitive.Stephen
This tuner is great! It picks up the sound amazingly and have found it more accurate in tuning. And so helpful with having a metronome. It is my first time figuring out how to use the metronome but I am a novice when it comes to using these things but have found it quite easy to figure out how to use. The metronome sound is great and easy to hear over the cello, if you're after a multi use tuner and just starting out, this is one of the best ones I've used so far!Luke D
Covers a range of needs whislt being very easy to navigate. (An excellent (& independant) "how to" video on youtube helped me decide to buy this model, and also made it very easy to use). Only 1 thing I was looking for was missing – it labels a produced tone with the note name AND ITS OCTAVE. I would love to see octave number displayed when a string is sounding during the processof tuning it. It would prevent breaking strings (happened with a newly bought & re-strung 8 string uke, where the pairs of strings were of different guages, the correct octave was important to know; also useful for novice players, or for complex instruments). I've tried lots of tuners and have only heard of 1 with the octave labelling function.maverd66

I love the ease of use of this tuner. It feels robust, and is easy to read. Pushing the switch down also mutes the sound from your instrument to the amp which is essential for speedy tuning situations. I have a 5 string bass and it has no problem registering the low B string. I have found the strobe setting less useful. Fine for tuning up at the beginning of a gig, but too sensitive whilst in the middle of things. I like that it has a 9v power port so that you can power another pedal from it, but would have liked Korg to send a cable with it. I have only had the tuner for a little over a week, but I can imagine it lasting a long time and it has already become my no.1 tuner for all things bass guitar.bikebiketom
Pedal display is easy to see when sitting or standing. I like the strobe settings as they help me get the best tuning. Tuner settles down quickly to show if I'm tuned high or low — many others tend to jump around a lot. Pedal case and switch seem sturdy enough, and it's easy to set the pitch calibration and display modes. I got this for the tuner, but also because it shuts off the signal to the amp when I turn on the tuner. This is perfect for changing guitars or connections or clearing out the memory in my looper, so this pedal is the last thing before the amp. Only one complaints: it turns on and off by inserting or removing the input guitar cord. I don't like having to unhook things every time I'm done playing. The instructions say it shuts off by itself after 4 hours, so my only concern is how much that drains the battery, haven't had it long enough to see if that's an issue. I wish it showed which OCTAVE a string is tuned to (like "E2" instead of just "E"), this would take some of the guesswork out of retuning after replacing a set of strings. I also wish it had an accuracy better than 1 cent (1 / 100 of a half-step or semi-tone). That's what most tuners claim, and a guitar still needs some fine-tuning by ear once most tuners say it's correct. But this one, using its strobe display, seems just right.Mr.Dave
I purchased this as a backup or possible replacement for a Boss TU-2 that I've had for 15 years and has had some issues with internal wires to the jacks coming loose. I've since fixed the TU-2 and have yet to put the Pitch Black on my board. That said, it's a perfectly good tuner pedal. Adequate display, accurate tuning. I haven't messed with the display modes; default is fine to me. Supposedly it's true bypass, so that's the only "advantage" I can see over the Boss. I haven't seen a reason to unseat the Boss other than wear and tear. My only complaint is that the switch is a momentary switch (no click when you step on it), so it seems like it might be a little easy to activate by accident. Yes, I know the Boss has a momentary switch, too, but it feels a little more solid due to the design of the pedal. It's nothing major and wouldn't deter me from ordering again, though.Masterbasser

Nice little Korg tuner that sits unobtrusively in the sound hole but easily visible to the player. The coloured LEDs are easy to read and intuitive. The on/off switch keeps it discrete when not in use. It's easy to fit or remove and I didn't need to remove the strings. The mounting clips are rubber with spring metal behind so its very unlikely to damage the guitar. It feels well made. I've used it on my Gibson J185 which is fitted with the Braggs pick up so the electrics are minimal. It's quick to use and seems pretty accurate. I'm pleased with it and certainly prefer it to headstock mounted tuners. It's a professional piece of kit that I would be happy to recommend for any gigging musician.oceans747
Firstly, I hate giving negative reviews as sometimes it can be a one off problem. However, this item promises much but delivers very little. I should have read the reviews of others before buying this. The idea is a good one but that is where it ends. The construction of this tuner is flimsy to say the least. Mine did not even have a chance to fall apart as the pieces fell out of the box as I opened it. Those responsible for design have relied on metal clips and little tags of thin rubber to hold it together. Not a good combination. When I had put it together again it was necessary to insert the clips into the rubber which goes into the sound hole. But, the rubber is insufficient to cover the clips and the danger of scratching your beloved instrument is a real worry. However, I persisted and I joined the ranks of others who have reviewed it and have watched it fall off into the sound hole of my guitar at the first attempt to use it. It is not the fault of the seller so I think it unfair to return it. However, I am determined to use this at least for a while so I am off to buy a large tube of superglue to keep it intact. I hope this helps.musicventura27
I ordered this along with a Martin DSS-17. It's fairly easy attach inside the soundhole…but keep in mind it's a "2 hand" job. The battery is a different size than most tuners but I don't anticipate it being difficult to find at replacement time. For me, it's in the perfect position to easily see while performing. It's sensitive and catches the note and identifies the played string quickly either picked or chimed at the 12th fret. I'd have to say at this point I have no complaints or find any faults.Allen

Absolutely great tuner for my 4-string at home. Simple to use and accurate. However I bought this specifically because it advertised extended range tuning, which I need for my 5 string. The display cannot be set to add any more strings, it is locked at 4. The paper inside the box makes no mention of tuning an extended range instrument either. Also the frequencies from my 5th string sometimes register on the 3rd string on the display. I have to be very careful to silence all strings and hold the 5th fret to tune it. I would definitely not use this on-stage, it seems way too sensitive. Not very happy with the way this is advertised, especially for the price.that guy

I like the color! It makes it easier to find if I set it down. And it makes it easier to know which tuner belongs to who. Its a tad smaller than the old Pitchhawk, but it very similar, and has a lightweight feel to it. And it works quite well with its color display.
