Keith Urban Night Star Acoustic Electric Guitar For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

My husband loves this guitar. He has other guitars but for some reason always thought the Keith Urbab guitars would be a nice add to his collection. He has not used the learning tools but loves that they included a certificate and what number the guitar was out of the limited number made. He had to work on tuning it about week before it got right, but he loves the sound. He believes it is a great sounding guitar especially for the price.Tamara

The BAD: Right out the package I can see the Action is way to high, and I am Saddened that the Nut and Saddle are made of plastic ( Shame on you Keith) the strings from the factory would make good >Cheese Cutters< but are junk. So… after Lowering the action about a 1/4 inch replacing the Deplorable plastic Nut and Saddle with real bone ones and putting D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Light Strings on the Guitar>> We can Start. (Do it yourself cost for these fixes about30 Materials>>> to have Done I am guessing a set up and these up grades with $time$ work would be about $150 give or take) Ok The GOOD: 1.The Electronics on this Model are Awesome very Clear Very Strong and Very Natural sounding 10-out of 10. 2. the finish and Burst are also Very Nice Very appealing and Attractive looking and feeling 10-out of 10. 3. Fret Board, Beautiful Phoenix bird on 10th fret and Flying winged thin birds in normal place on rest of board, the only Urban Guitar with fully detailed birds on fret board(except the Pre-Premier) made… other Urban Guitar fret board inlays after the Premier IMO are UN-defined and most Unexceptionable ( like on the Player model and others to come "Yuck" ) the frets on the side are a bit sharp and will need to be filed ( or Coleslaw Fingers will Result 😛 ouch !! ) 8-out of 10 due 2 sharp fret edges. 4. the Graphics Inlays and Binding are Top Notch and worth P raze 10-of 10. 5.once set up and Up grades done play-ability is Sweet, smooth fast easy pressure on fret board will bring a most Enjoyable playing experience 10-of 10. 6.Acoustic Clarity and sound Carry are Phenomenal Comparable to my Martin !! (after up grades… of course)10-of 10 7.Tuning Machine Pegs and Staying in tune about Normal to Very good 9-of 10. 8. In Conclusion: My over all opinion of the Premier Urban Phoenix Acoustic Electric Guitar ??? Sweet Guitar !!!! This is such a beautiful acoustic guitar, and it plays as great as it looks! It sounds amazing, stays in tune very well, and is extremely comfortable to play. The sunburst finish is stunning, and the pickguard, tuning keys, and inlays all complement the guitar very nicely. You can't go wrong with a Takamine acoustic, and this is such a wonderful guitar that any guitarist would enjoy playing. I highly recommend this guitar!Lennon

I had this on my wish list for a couple of years and after finally getting to try it out at my local Sam Ash, it did not disappoint. Online reviews were consistently good with a few mentions of the strings being coated and how it gave an unusual feel and sound. According to the Michael Kelly website, the strings are D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze, Light, 12-53, so they shouldn't be some off the wall knock offs but my experience over the last few weeks has been that after a few minutes of playing, the tips of my fingers on my fret hand and the palm of my strumming hand turned black. I've never had this happen on any other guitars I have. I tried rotating after 15 minutes between my Jackson, my Strat, my Martin Backpacker and then my Michael Kelly and, every time, after a few minutes of playing the Forte Port, my fingers turned black. I've played a lot of guitars since the 80's (not professionally) and this is a new one on me. Obviously, the strings can be changed but I feel it is worth mentioning because for someone's first guitar, it may be off putting if they are unaware. If I can edit a review, I'll try to add a pic of my fingers (there's no way to make that sound right…) when I get time. That's my two cents…Sean

Overall: I was reluctant to buy this Michael Kelly. I like to try it before I buy it . With that being said , The guitar come it flawless. It was packaged very good . I played for about an hour after opening the box. The action is spot on. It plays and feels more like an electric guitar. Hammer on pull offs pitch bends are perfect. The sustain goes on forever. The neck feels a touch wider than my Martin, but that's a good thing for me. There are no fret buzzes at. It's vert light and comfortable , light weight is a must , I have had shoulder surgery 3 times. The balance and weight are near perfect . Michael Kelly may not have the prestige of Martin. Gibson and such , but as far as the sound and quality build , it simply can not be beat in this price range.Mark

This is an incredible axe! Fender wasn't lying when they said it's their most versatile guitar yet. You'll pull sounds out of this thing that you only used to dream about. It's light on the shoulder but not at the expense of tone and voice, actually I should say voices. It replaces at least 10 of my guitars. It's a giggers dream come true. Worth every penny. I got this guitar because I wanted an acoustic guitar and I'm used to the feel of electric guitars. I find that the ability to dial-in different tone to be a vey nice feature and I like to be able to amplify my sound. The different tones is are a bonus. What I really, really like after the sounds, is the weight and balance overall and the feel of the neck. It is much nicer than a bulky acoustic which usually requires a sitting position. The one drawback that I've run into is that the amplification hardware is battery driven (rechargeable) via a USB cable and it appears that it discharges even when not being played. Its rated at 20 hours but even if I don't play it, it needs a recharge in a day or two. I hesitate to leave it on the charger every time I put it down.JKS

God’s gift to loop pedal performers who play both acoustic and electric, this guitar is light, portable and comfortable to play. The battery lasts well and charges quickly. The acoustic tones are full and rich when played through an appropriate acoustic amp, or fed directly into an audio interface for home recording. The Tim Shaw designed humbucker is smooth and growly, and the distorted tones that the guitar provides are convincingly good. I’ve read less than enthusiastic opinions of this guitar’s sound online and can only surmise that people have been demoing them through amplifiers designed for electric guitars, which in my opinion do not capture the best from the Fender/Fishman acoustic engine, although the humbucking pickup does sound good through an electric amp.Tim M.

I was looking to get a really good solid wood acoustic and looked at every Martin and Taylor. I was nervous of getting a small scale but when it arrived it was perfect. I tend to use my fingers rather than pick on it as it has a very fast neck and the scale lends well to finger picking. The case is amazing! I wanted a hard case with the guitar I chose and almost went with another brand due to the case but this is not a gig bag. It is a hybrid and very sturdy. I can't say enough great things about the purchase…..best of all, mine was produced in Sep nearly a month before the release of the model so getting an early model of a guitar that will certainly become a best seller makes the purchase even more sweet.Ks

The small size made me feel at home instantly. As if I owned this guitar for years. The neck is very fast and the spacing of the frets isnt too tight. I suggest just raising the action a little bit, its gonna make it louder. Since it is so easy to play, you will barely notice. Great for finger picking.Peter 47

Great little guitar. I test 2 dozen guitars in search of a great guitar tone for fingerstyle. I've found the GTe to be a great workhorse guitar that is very fun and comfortable to play. The slightly narrower neck, lightweight body and short scale length are very comfortable and the intonation and electronics are very usable for plug and play gigs. It just works. Now, if you're looking for a great, loud strummer, I would probably look elsewhere. It is not bad for strumming and I've played singing/strumming gigs with it but I think it really shines for fingerpicking. It records very nicely and I'm a big fan of the Aerocase over a hardshell. A Martin HD28 is my usual go to guitar and fantastic for strumming and most of my playing, but I've found the Taylor GTe to be more convenient to take around and is a bit less dear to me. When teaching lessons, the Taylor is the one that stays on the stand to grab quickly and doesn't overpower the student guitars but holds its own. I do feel that it is overpriced. Non-precious/reclaimed woods, not the highest grade top visually, satin finish, plain look etc really should put these, in my opinion, about a third lower in price. That being said, I played a lot of guitars and this was the only one I cared enough to walk away with and I'm enjoying it. Even more…my wife came with me on my journey and told me it was special and I should buy. Specs and woods can be nice guides, but I've found the overall guitar and whether or not it helps your playing and inspires you to play is more important. If you try it, like it for your applications, and don't mind a few extra dollars, it really is a great guitar and sounds much nicer than it should.Steve

I love my Tak EF341SC! I bought it because I didn't have enough money for a $1600 Martin or a $2100 Taylor, but I like the feel and sound of this better than those other guitars I was debating between! The sound is a little brighter than the Martin, but a lot more mellow than the Taylor… It is perfect! Once again, you have to thank the Asians for making something better and more affordable than we Americans… I have been leading worship at a contemporary church on the southside of Chicago for 3 years and I love the sound both acoustically and plugged in.guitarworship83

Expected to sacrifice the rich acoustic tones for the thin line body, I was surprised. This is a fantastic instrument with great sustain and lower end. It may not be a J-200 but just flipped me out. The electric side has a great sound somewhere between an acoustic and a 335 electric. I own lots-o-guitars but this guitar just reached right in and grabbed my soul. Not sure if I could explain what it is about it but haven't put it down for a week. My fingers are numb and I'm loving it. The finish on it is top end and the case is more than nice.DickE

I use to use Martin guitars all the time until I got my hands on this one. The one thing I love about Takamine guitars, is that the action is already lowered. So there is no need to get your guitar set up. If you pick a lot then this is your guitar or if you are a strummer your hand will feel at ease when you hold bar chords. With curly koa you get what you pay for. What I mean by that is that koa wood has a rich tone overall. Also, when koa wood ages the tones gets more richer overtime. I love the style of the preamp pick up and the built in tuner. It sounds good plugged or unplugged. IT’S HONESTLY WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!.Gage

Sound: Absolutely professional pick up system. Features: Split bridge improves intonation access. Ease of Use: Alittle hard to bar chord out the box with 11 gauge strings. Quality: Seems to be if very good build quality. Value: The blemished price made this deal a no brainer. Manufacturer Support: Have not contacted them. The Wow Factor: The look of this guitar will wow you. Overall: I’ve had this guitar for a couple of weeks now. I purchased a “blemished” model from zZounds . I couldn’t find any bad marks on the guitar whatsoever. It’s gorgeous. The case had maybe one Knick in it. I guess that was the blemish. This was a great purchase. The guitar is absolutely beautiful. It’s catches people’s eye right away. The hardware is awesome. The tuning knobs turn real smooth and hold tune for days. The pick up is crisp and clear. Absolutely professional. This guitar is the best acoustic I’ve ever owned and I’ve had a few martins and a Gretch jumbo. The guitar did come with 11 gauge strings, and I did find it alittle bit hard to fret. The action out of the box might be a little too high. Instead of adjusting the truss I decided to switch it to 10 gauge acoustic strings. It plays real easy now with the lighter strings, you can even do bends and leads on it. I researched electric acoustics in this price range extensively, and I am pretty confident I got one of the best options. I chose this guitar over the Taylor 214ce and the ce deluxe. The pick up system in this takemine, in my opinion, is superior to the Taylor system. Also the look of this guitar is much more high end and pleasing to the eye than any other good quality model under $1500. My only small complaint is the fret ends are rough to the touch. You may need to use a small fine Emory board to smooth the fret ends out.Jason

First Takamine purchase and I couldn't be happier. I own and perform regularly on a Taylor 814 CE but was thrilled when I played this guitar the first time. The most significant difference is the neck. It's shaped more like a modern players electric. It's very comfortable on the hand. I don't feel like there is any adjustment period when switching between songs. Strat to Tach and back is seamless. Love the build quality, the Koa Wood and sound too. I've only owned it a month but it feels like I've played it for years. It was instantly familiar to me and for less than half the price of my Taylor (which I also love to play).CHARLES

This guitar is beautiful and easy to tune. I got the pink version. At first I was a little concerned how the color will look in real life. However, when the guitar arrived it was beautiful. An absolute delight to look at. I will say for the price this guitar is solidly constructed. The straps and electronic tuner that comes with it is awesome. It also came with several plastic plectrums. The guitar itself is a good size but not heavy. Yes, I love this guitar and I will recommend it. Now, please note that I am not a professional guitar player, so this is ideal for my intended purpose. The strings placement above the neck and along the guitar is too high up. It needs to sit parallel to the whole neck. It rises higher near the body and slowly lowers along the neck. Not a big issue if you know how to play the guitar, but for a beginner and for quality sound, the strings need to be hovering directly parallel along the whole guitar.Helaman H.

My granddaughter is 7yrs old. I wanted to do something different for Christmas this year, so I purchased a acoustic guitar. I’m thinking 30inches will be a nice size for her. When I received it the box was small and without taking it out the box I knew it wasn’t the size I thought it was going to be! I made the online purchased but I wanted to return it in store, which I did with the electronic receipt! APPARENTLY SOMETHING WENT WRONG! The GUITAR WAS SENT BACK TO ME! Not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews on this product, because it is not a good guitar. I bought it for my daughter to learn on and it will not stay in tune no matter what you do. I even tried changing the strings on it and it just refuses to stay in tune. I guess if you're just looking to get your kid used to holding a guitar and pressing the strings it is ok for that, but I would recommend spending a little more money on something decent that your kid can learn on. I am a guitar player and I have the full sized guitar from BCP and it is an excellent value for what you get, but this one just falls flat. No pun intended. 🙂Andrew
