John Mayer Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

My wife thought the Inca silver guitar was beautiful. I thought it was very unique looking and assumed that since it was made in Japan, it would be very high quality. The Gotoh tuners are incredibly difficult to turn. Hopefully this is an anomaly. I could try to loosen them but I expect a guitar like this to need nothing from the start. Also the guitar would not hold tune and yes, the strings were stretched. The tremelo bar requires an allen wrench (provided) to install and remove. Although I'm no guitar tech, it looked as if the two fulcrum screws were not tightened enough. Regardless, even when not using the tremelo, just the heel of my hand resting on the bridge would make the guitar squirrelly. This was very frustrating. The low E string had a buzz on the lower few frets and I broke the high E string my 2nd day of playing it. I've gone years without breaking a string on other guitars and I just do whole step bends, nothing more. The pickups sounded fine, the TBX tone control is not something I claim to understand, but it sounds ok. The guitar is not very versatile – kind of a one trick pony good for cranked up crunch guitar, which I was ok with. The 12" radius and jumbo frets? Not very comfortable IMHO. Kind of a tiring guitar to play. I wanted to like this guitar, but again, I refuse to start out with it needing work so it 's going back and the days of me assuming that Japanese quality, or at least quality control, are over.Kelly G.

I was in the market for a Fender guitar so as I browsed I saw a beautiful Telecaster that I really liked but it didn't have a whammy bar so I continued to browse, then I saw this beautiful Stratocaster and it was love at first sight. Plus it plays and sounds great. I'm loving it! 👍🏻Clarence

This is a monster of a guitar! You get so much for your money! First off, the feel of this guitar rivals American build quality. The neck has that rolled edge feel to it with more of a satin back. The jumbo frets feel absolutely perfect. If you had told me that this was made in the US, I certainly would believe it based on the feel and quality of construction. The features are so cool on this guitar! While it has two humbuckers, the coil split turns both of them into single coils. Normally, split coil humbuckers do not sound like single coils, but both of these pickups are so good. The split neck pickup has that woody, full tone to it, just like a good quality single coil. The humbuckers have a good throaty feel to them, they are great for rock tones, but they have a vocal quality to them that gives them a really great character even when they are clean. This TBX tone control is an amazing addition and is what makes this guitar so crazy versatile. It has a notch that lets you know it is a halfway. This is like using a regular 250k tone pot. It sounds great with both the humbuckers and the split coils. But, when you take the tone to '10', it enhances both treble and bass by engaging a 1000k pot. It gives a higher gain, somewhat scooped tone. This is great for rock, blues, grunge etc. Just an amazing tone to me! To sum up the tone, this guitar sounds amazing playing high gain rock as well as playing John Mayer licks. It is seriously that versatile. I have never played a guitar that can cover so much tonal territory. The other appointments are absolutely top notch. This guitar has a bone nut, graph tech type saddles, and super high quality gotoh tuners. The crazy thing about this guitar is that I feel that I have just purchased two high quality guitars for a price that is less than one american strat. Gorgeous clean single coil tones, AND heavy, thick humbucker tones all in one unit. I can't recommend this guitar highly enough!Mike

Yes, the tonal range is great, especially the piezo pickup, nicely playable and overall looks and finish seem perfect. But, with nicely contoured access to the high notes let down by the overly large neck heal which starts a fret or two earlier than my other electric guitars. Another annoyance is the very cheap knobs which don't sit straight on the pots. I have a guitar costing a tenth of the price with better fitting knobs. The battery compartment is a bad joke of a design, as the battery holder comes out with the wires attached, you then have to prise up the battery from its contacts and the lever it out for replacement. Overall these are minor annoyances on what is a great guitar but, at this price I expected better. Oh yes, it came with a hard case. Which doesn't fit properly and with no tags or brand markings so who knows what it was made for. It did come with two loose bits of foam, one which was floating around unsure of its purpose.Kevin L.

I received the Black Gold Burst version about a week ago. It's a BEAUTIFUL guitar. The pictures don't do it justice. The f-holes really add to the appearance. Fender ALSO makes a hollowbody guitar, but they went the round sound hole direction, which, IMHO, is hokey looking. The sound is INCREDIBLE! I have 4 other electric guitars, including a Fender American Standard Strat, Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG and an Ibanez Prestige- They are ALL wonderful guitars, and each has its own personality, in how they play AND how they sound. THIS guitar has a sound that TRANSCENDS ALL of my other guitars. There are a number of videos on YouTube. BUT, as with the appearance, they simply DO NOT do it justice. The humbucker pickups ALONE produce a sound that is CLEAR and RESONANT. Adding the sound from the piezo pickup sends it over the top! ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS. I was a little reluctant to purchase a guitar made in China. However, the CONSTRUCTION and FINISH are PERFECT! PLUS, the cost is WAAAY less than the equivalent US-made version. I hope I've given you the idea that this is a SPECIAL guitar, BECAUSE IT IS!Kevin

I went to guitar center with 1k cash to buy a guitar as a tribute to my recently passed grandmother who always loved hearing me play. I went in planning on playing everything until something spoke to me. I played some guilds and X series martins and also This PRS. I ended up walking back to look at the amps again but the way that PRS felt and sounded was sticking with me. After a couple hours or trying nearly everything in the store I asked if I could have the employee unlock some of the American Taylors and martins from the top shelf. Im a huge Taylor fan but while I waited I played the PRS cause it wasn't locked. I put the PRS down and when I played the 2000$ Taylor it didn't feel or sound as good as the PRS. By the end of my multiple hour stay at guitar center, that PRS haunted me in the exact way I went in there hoping for, and it's the best acoustic i've ever played, even though its from china. The blue wasn't my favorite at first but by the time I bought it, it had already grown on me to the point that I wouldn't have it any other way. Seriously, don't buy online, go in to a store that has the on display and play it. If it speaks to you, buy the one that you played. Don't have the get a new in box one cause it may not have that magic.Nasty Nate

I had the opportunity to play a Silver Sky locally through a vintage Super Reverb and pretty much knew from the first note that I would be owning this guitar! All the switch positions provide a usable palette of sound. The tone controls then allow you to fine tune that sound and they work in a very controlled and balanced fashion. I just kept dialing around and found all the clean and slightly driven sounds I was looking for. And the neck is butter! Having seen JM's instagram video explaining the initial idea behind introducing this guitar, then the 3 year process of bringing it to life, I had to admit I was all in. I can't tell you how many Saturdays were spent driving to every music shop in town looking for the "one" perfect "S-style" guitar. Usually, playing dozens or more, maybe finding one, often finding none. What if the perfect guitar (by JM's specs) could be made 100 out of 100 times? That was the challenge put to PRS, and from what I've experienced so far, I think they've pulled it off! While I do believe in supporting my local music stores, the AMS payment plans available made a purchase of this sort much more palatable. Having purchased guitars through AMS previously, I was also confident the guitar I would receive would be spot on. I was not disappointed. The build quality is pure PRS and the setup was perfect. If you are looking for a Strat style single pickup guitar that will provide tone for days, look no further!Marty S.

This is a beautiful instrument. I was initially a bit hesitant about the 7.25” radius as it’s not something I’ve ever spent much time playing on, but after a half hour or so it felt comfortable. The neck carve is also girthy, as you’d expect from a vintage styled instrument, but it all feels very natural. Those pickups. Wow. Dynamic, great clarity, and very usable tones in all positions. The usual PRS quality generally applies, and the finish of the instrument is great. However, if I was nitpicking I really dislike the feeling of the tone and volume controls under my fingers. They look absolutely fine, but they feel lightweight, thin and almost slightly gritty in their roll, and that seems out of place with the feeling of the rest of the instrument. It also doesn’t come with a hard case, as you’ll be aware as the listing is clear about that, but I feel that’s a little cheap of PRS at this price point. The gigbag is good quality anyway, though. Overall, though, this is totally worth the money. It’s a very PRS-ey/JM-ey take on a strat, obviously, but it also has great character all of it’s own. First off, I've been a bit of a Fender fanboy for a long time. Like many people, I have often scoffed at the idea of paying ultra-lux money for a copy of a strat. But this past weekend I went to my local GC to play the Fiore and, MCCarty and some CU24s, some more Fenders and even a couple of Les Pauls. After two hours in the room, I came home with an Orion Green SS. I just simply could not stop playing it. So comfortable to hold and play, once my hand adjusted to the neck shape. But the tone immediately grabs you as being full and round, bright enough, and not nearly as overly-harsh as my Am Pro2 can be. Build quality and finish was excellent, and this thing was so fresh that buffing compound is still coming to the surface after playing. Fantastic guitar that probably won't make me sell off my Fenders, but definitely inspires and excites me to play. So happy I finally got one.Jason

Some people say prs just “ripped off a strat and put an ugly headstock on it” Dude fender could NEVER achieve this quality. Strats are awesome, and obviously inspired this instrument, but I’ve played 60’s and 70’s strats, and modern American strats in the silver sky price range. Not a single one has EVER had the response, the feel, the tone, or the magic that this guitar has. I loved the rosewood prs and was about to purchase one until they announced the maple fretboard. Had to wait about 6 months on preorder and it was more than worth every penny and every bit of waiting. The pickups have such a beautiful vintage feel. And it is warm, instead of “ice picky” like some strats can get some times. The tone knobs on this guitar are more responsive than any guitar I’ve ever played, and give all 5 pickup voicings multiple tonal shapes. The bridge system is comfortable, very well made. The guitar is light, comfortable, and can handle such a beautiful variety of genres and tones. Fretboard is like BUTTERRRRR when you bend notes. It’s addicting. And I love the aesthetic of the hollow birds. If you’re thinking about getting one just do it.JG

Overall: I received 2 of these from zZounds. The first one had chips in the paint in several places, the frets were trash. The fretboard on the sides had bad dings and scratches. I returned it. They sent me another one (that took 5 days to get to me after they lied about when it was shipped), when it arrived it was in much better shape. At least the paint was. Right out of the box the frets needed a $100 fret job. The trem claw screws were put in at such a bad angle it was pressing against the back plate. It would not stay in tune for anything. I replaced that one with an RGAIX6 Iron Label Ibanez. Right out of the box it was a superior guitar. I'll never buy another Sterling again.Anthony

Overall: I was at a big Guitar shop near the Center of town looking at strats. Found an excellent American strat from 2013 for $800 that i was all set to take home. I saw this sterling MAJ100 on a stand next to the amp i was using to test the strat and decided to play it on a whim…… WOW! Totally blown away. I've played other Ernie Ball electrics that were much more expensive and played like an expensive guitar. What surprised me about this MAJ100 is that it played WAYYY beyond it's price.The tone and volume nobs are fantastic. Totally impressed. They work effectively with no degradation to the sound at all. This guitar is comfortable. extremely light, well balanced, and the resonance is insane. Frankly when i picked it up it was so light it felt like a toy guitar. Like it's hollow or plastic or something. When i played it though, even unplugged, it clearly resonates like a serious instrument. Even with the amp in my face i felt each note clearly resonate through the guitar. Reminded me of an acoustic almost. Despite trying, and owning, many other guitars (gibsom, fender, prs, ibanez, as far as electrics go) this sterling sold me on it's merits. Not looks though. Initially i HATED the looks. They are growing on me but i think it's because of how stellar this guitar is in ALL other areas. The only thing i wish it had was a way to split the coils.Try this guitar.Sam

Overall: First Impression: Right out of the box, my JP150D and it’s virtually flawless blood orange burst burled top was absolutely ravishing. Complimented by all black hardware, and a gorgeous baked maple neck, it felt as welcoming as the US guitars from which the Sterling JP150D derives its namesake. Beautifully crowned stainless steel frets, with absolute zero sprout or sharp edges. Electronics and mechanical parts were all in top working order, as you would expect. Additionally, it came out of the gig bag in-tune! A bit deeper:First, the action was set ridiculously high, around 2.25mm. I find that ridiculous for this type of guitar, however, I do my own setups anyway, and it is very rare that a guitar comes “ready to play” in terms of my preferences. I do, however, think that if these are regularly going out with action that high, Sterling is missing the mark with the type of player who wants this particular instrument, and if that player were not already proficient in doing their own work, they would be disappointed at having to immediately go pay for a professional setup. Minor issue to me, but a dealbreaker for some. Second:This is a big one… The frets are perfect all the way down the neck, with exception of the 23rd fret. It is significantly higher than all the other frets. This is more of a major issue in terms of people who are inexperienced with doing fret leveling, and who do not have the tools or ability to fix this themselves. This clues me in as to why the action was set so high. I will also add that the neck was extremely bowed, and required almost an entire rotation of the very stiff truss wheel. Because it is such a low fret that is completely out of whack, it creates multiple dead spots on every string. It tells me the “tech” who set this guitar up was more concerned with getting the product out, by applying a quick fix, rather than sniffing out the root problem. In the big picture, it is a very simple fix, but again, this lack of proper QA will result in returns and lower reviews of an otherwise wonderful instrument. Final:After I went through and addressed the issues and set the JP150D up to my preferences, I am so pleased with the playability. I know a quality price of gear when it is in my hands, and this one definitely fits the description. Yeah, it had an abysmal setup, but that is absolutely fixable. All in all, I spent about two hours getting everything just right. It sounds perfect, feels perfect, and plays wonderfully now that I have straightened the neck, adjusted the action, and addressed the high fret. All of the aesthetics are there and it looks like a piece of art. Out of every feature this guitar has, my favorite is the knob location. The knobs are down out of the way, allowing uninhibited shredding and chugs. This is the simple feature that puts this guitar on top for me. I wish other guitar manufacturers would reconsider their knob placement. I enjoy not having to use a rubber washer to keep the volume in place, removing the knob, or relocating the volume for ergonomics, as I have to do on every other guitar made. Out of the box, I give it 3 stars because of setup issues. Fully setup and ready, the JP150D is 5 stars all day long.Frank

I have been really enjoying the OMJM. It actually feels quite similar to a shorter scale guitar, as the neck is so good. only you can properly strum it like a dreadnought if you want to, it feels great having the power and versatility to do so on a smaller bodied guitar. The neck plays great also for the bluesier things too. The sound of it is fantastic, so articulate, and it records so well, you literally don’t have to eq it in anyway, it is so balanced whereby no bass notes/treble notes over power the others even when fingerpicking. very inspiring instrumentReviewed by Project Music custom

I think this is a great guitar. It is a very specific guitar, though. Martin makes nothing else like this. It has a very similar body to the OM-28 and Clapton models, but the neck really sets the guitar apart. The lower profile neck makes it almost play like an electric guitar. I wasn't going exactly for the John Mayer tone, in buying this guitar, but it definitely factored into the purchase. What really sets the guitar apart are the specs. I loved the OM-28 V, and even liked the tone in that guitar a tiny bit more than in the OMJM, because it has a different type of bracing, but I went with the OMJM because the neck, because I couldn't live with the v neck, and the difference in tone is really negligible. I got this guitar as an impusle purchase. I was looking for guitars from the $1,000-$1,500 price range. I figured, though that in that range, especially with Martins and Taylors, I would not have ended up completely satisfied. I saw no point in buying a guitar in that range, especially, as it would be something I could see myself getting rid of after a handful of years. So, I ended up taking a risk with the OMJM and it really paid off. Everyhting quality wise that I was hoping for, and I can see myself keeping this guitar indefinitely. Moreover, just playing the guitar has inspired me and allowed me to reach a new level of playing. It is almost as if my job is to just release songs from this guitar, and they just write themselves. If you can afford it, I definitely recommend investing in this guitar. I can only look forward to it becoming more beautiful with age. The guitar comes with Martin's thinline + pickup system. I actually prefer this system for its simplicity. Though you cannot have complete tone control, all you have to do is plug and play. I have only had enough time to play one show with it, and I plugged it straight into the PA system. I was very surprised at how great the guitar sounded through the system, and found that the pickups reproduced a very accurate and clear tone. In purchasing this guitar, I was looking at a players' series model with the aurora system. Though the guitars do not compare, I was less inclined to purchase one of the players series. Though the features are great on that system, I was most nervous about out of warranty repairs. Though the thinline system in the OMJM is simple by comparrison to Taylor's ES, or the Aurora system, it won't be a huge cost to replace down the road if things go wrong with it. I also enjoy the system because the OMJM retains the look of a true acoustic, and the only thing that gives it away is the jack incorprated into the strap button. The quality on this guitar is up there with the best guitars I have ever played. Though the guitar looks stellar in pictures, you really have to see the guitar in person to appreciate the workmanship. Furthermore, the inlays and bindings are very tastefully done. They are not too flashy, and when included with the vintage toner and open gear tuners, they really make for a rich looking guitar. The guitar looks especially great in the case, as the maroon liner really complements the vintage toner and finish. The finish upon receiving the guitar was flawless and the aroma of the rosewood sides and spruce top really hit you when you first open the case. I have had the guitar for a couple of months now and that smell is still one of my favorite qualities of the guitar. Even the small things, like the pickguard which was perfectly flawlessly polished and was of a much higher quality than the printed tortoise shell pickguards of other similarly priced guitars. In terms of tone, I don't think anything beats this guitar. I am partial to rosewoods, but this guitar really sings, given that it is a narrower and smaller body. This guitar plays everything well from strumming to fingerstyle. I love how not only is the guitar loud and warm, but it gives more of a raw, masculine tone. I think a lot of people feel that you are paying for the name with this guitar, but it is based off of the OM-28 vintage, and that guitar is $3100 dollars. With the OMJM, you get not only the pickup system installed, but also higher quality inlays in the bridge pins and the paua rosette lining the soundhole. Is it worth the $200 dollar premium? More or less, yes. I was a little disappointed with the case. The black layer began to peel less than a month into owning the guitar. Also, the locking latch keeps jamming and when it pops out, the top slams back down. I don't think it is bad, but just another annoying thing. Aesthetically, it is a great case, but it has not up to the standards I was hoping for. Also, not a big fan of the "JMC" embroidered on it. Always face questions about whose initials they are.Mdn25

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he loves it and is amazed by all the capabilities he has with this guitar! He is an accomplished guitarist and says he will even have to become a better guitarist to meet the full extent of what this guitar offers a musician!Mrs. D

I love this guitar. The color viola is awesome and looks great with the gold hardware. The wood is so smooth on the back of the neck your hand just glides with ease up and down the fretboard. I was on the fence about picking up the jp 15 because of the rave reviews about the oil finish but the majesty artisan neck is amazing and the upper fret access is 2nd to none. The peizio system took some getting used to, but once I got the adjustments on the back dialed in it gave me an awesome option for my clean tones that no other Electric I have played can produce. I can not stop playing this guitar it inspires me to wake up early and get a practice session in before work everyday. I would buy this guitar again in the blink of an eye.Sam

Collaboration between John Petrucci and Ernie Ball over 10plus years (three years on this model) has produced a guitar that is the best in terms of feel, tone, and playability. Majesty was the original name for Dream Theatre but playing this guitar explains why John Petrucci named it Majesty.jensenbr2

This beautiful machine is amazing. I am just starting out but this thing makes me want to play, practice and just sounds so good. Taking lessons and my instructor wants one now. Locking tuners, reverb that is endless, haunting sounds. I go back to the store and people swoon for it.Kiva

Received it with no foam or springs under the neck pickup, so the pickup pretty much rattled. Easy fix, but for over $3k? Bottom E string piezo didn't work. Real hard to set up with low (1mm on 12th fret) action, without buzz. Constantly goes out of tune, especially when using the trem. It sustained real well, and is beautiful, but it drove me crazy the first night I had it. Before you go on thinking I didn't set it up correctly, I worked for Leo Fender in the 80's, and have worked on guitars my whole life.Ernie K

2019 made full gloss Majesty's finally! And I was so happy I bought 2. One 7 string in standard and one 7 string a whole step down. They feel and sound like a $3000+ guitar. Ernie Ball also pay their employees a living wage in the bay area there is expensive to live. The fret work they do is Insane! I traded 10+ import guitars of other brands and have no regrets just love my Majesty's.ClanOfHouseCats

Beautifully built guitar. Love the gloss finish compared to previous models. Guitar has a fast neck that's satin finished. The controls were a tad "sticky" until used for a day. Sound and feel is amazing but darker than previous models. Only true issue I've had is tuning stability which I'm sure could be relieved by lubing the nut.JW

Sound: Amazing. No cap. This guitar sings. Features: Roasted flame maple neck looks and feels dreamy. Ease of Use: You would he hard pressed to make a bad sound on this guitar. Quality: EBMM leads the industry in quality, fit, and finish. This is no exception. Value: I’ve never played a better guitar at any price point. The Wow Factor: I would rate this 11 out of 10. Overall: May be the best guitar in production. The new pickups are absolutely beautiful, and good for everything but the most extreme styles. I’ve never played a guitar that sounded so nice. I can put it on the neck pickup clean and fire up the boost, and it sounds like a jazz box. The bridge is the only bridge pickup I’ve ever really liked. It clear and dynamic, but no harshness. The guitar is super comfortable to boot. I was really worried I might not like the v neck, but somehow it fits like a glove. Probably the best feeling neck I’ve ever felt. To top everything off…. I've had this guitar a few months now and it is a really good guitar. It is manufactured with quality in mind. There were no blemishes or quality issues when it arrived. It does come with Ernie Ball strings, which I have never been a fan of. I changed the strings right away. It is pretty lightweight (especially when compared to a Les Paul) and really does come across as a LP/Strat hybrid. There is a five or six position switch for the different pickup configurations, but I really only care for two fo them. I guess that would be dependent on what style of music you are playing. One knock that I have is that when using the tremolo, it does tend to go out of tune a bit. I don't use tremolo much, so I can live with that. The neck plays really fast and it is a great looker. Ernie Ball doesn't have a custom shop, but their guitars can compete with any brand out there. You won't be disappointed.Terry S

I bought this guitar and the very next night participated in an extended jam session. We played for hours and I never got tired and worn out from fighting with the guitar. It was extremely easy to play and the varied tones I got from very clean to overdriving the amp's preamp were spot on. Everyone listening were impressed with how good the guitar sounded. Combining this guitar with my PRS McCarty 594, I have all bases covered when it comes to being able to cover every musical style I need to cover.Steve L

Excellent Majesty on a budget! Great looks, awesome body with great fret access. Excellent quality throughout. The pickups are strong and versatile. Tend to be a little more mid to trebble but with some adjustment will be perfect for any style from blues to shredder. I block the tremolo as I do lots of alternate tunings. It stays in tune very well. Really an awesome looking and performing pro level guitar on a budget (if 1K can be called that). The metallic purple is particularly awesome. I'm sure a few people out their had a similar feeling of uncertainty like I did upon unboxing this guitar. It weighs next to nothing and for the money I paid I expected it to have more, I don't know, substance maybe? Either way in my mind it wasn't what I imagined it would be. I already knew it wasn't going to come with the DiMarzio pickups but before I bought this guitar I have never been able to afford anything more than a few hundred bucks. Some of those cheap guitars played nicely enough after I set them up, I didn't really think a more expensive guitar could feel any better in my hands and figured the only difference would be in the tone and quality grade of the electric components and hardware. I setup this guitar immediately. It played great out of the box but the true telling would be how it performed after I set it up and it immediately became the best damn guitar I've ever laid my hands on. It made playing fun again and in the last month I've reached some technique mile stones because of the playability. Primarily tapping and sweep picking. Really fast neck. The tone is very warm and the extra gain from overdrive switch makes it balls out scream without the DiMarzio's so I'm over that particular con. It has far more pro's to make the lacking of the DiMarzio's not matter at all to me.N. Vaughan

Overall: I received 2 of these from zZounds. The first one had chips in the paint in several places, the frets were trash. The fretboard on the sides had bad dings and scratches. I returned it. They sent me another one (that took 5 days to get to me after they lied about when it was shipped), when it arrived it was in much better shape. At least the paint was. Right out of the box the frets needed a $100 fret job. The trem claw screws were put in at such a bad angle it was pressing against the back plate. It would not stay in tune for anything. I replaced that one with an RGAIX6 Iron Label Ibanez. Right out of the box it was a superior guitar. I'll never buy another Sterling again.Anthony

Overall: I was at a big Guitar shop near the Center of town looking at strats. Found an excellent American strat from 2013 for $800 that i was all set to take home. I saw this sterling MAJ100 on a stand next to the amp i was using to test the strat and decided to play it on a whim…… WOW! Totally blown away. I've played other Ernie Ball electrics that were much more expensive and played like an expensive guitar. What surprised me about this MAJ100 is that it played WAYYY beyond it's price.The tone and volume nobs are fantastic. Totally impressed. They work effectively with no degradation to the sound at all. This guitar is comfortable. extremely light, well balanced, and the resonance is insane. Frankly when i picked it up it was so light it felt like a toy guitar. Like it's hollow or plastic or something. When i played it though, even unplugged, it clearly resonates like a serious instrument. Even with the amp in my face i felt each note clearly resonate through the guitar. Reminded me of an acoustic almost. Despite trying, and owning, many other guitars (gibsom, fender, prs, ibanez, as far as electrics go) this sterling sold me on it's merits. Not looks though. Initially i HATED the looks. They are growing on me but i think it's because of how stellar this guitar is in ALL other areas. The only thing i wish it had was a way to split the coils.Try this guitar.Sam

This is Ernie Ball Musicman’s ‘Sterling’ range of guitars so named after Sterling Ball the CEO . Offered up as a cheaper more affordable alternative range to their fabulous guitars . But don’t let ‘cheaper’ put you off . The quality and playability is still superb. This particular model is reverse engineered from John Petrucci’s ‘full fat’ version of his renown ‘Majesty’ guitars. Similarly as with the SE range of PRS guitars there is a slight difference in quality and features but again don’t let that put you off . If your finances don’t let you run to a ‘Full Fat’ Majesty then get one of these Sterlings . This model is finished in ‘Cerulean Paradise’ and is beautiful. Very similar to its big brother in ‘Purple Nebula’ . I now own both the far more expensive Purple Nebula , costing 4 times as much , and this Sterling model and both are awesome to play , look at , and to own .Gary R.

First off, it is a beautiful guitar. The stainless steel frets make a huge difference when bending strings and he locking tuners makes replacing/changing strings a piece of cake. The DiMarzio Crunch Lab and LiquiFire pickups are sound great with plenty of punch. Couldn't be happier, unless of course it was the actual American made Majesty. But seriously, for the price difference, the Sterling by Music Man version is killer!Uncle Woody

The Music Man Majesty is gorgeous. It is also hands down the most comfortable and most fun guitar I have ever played! They are worth every bit of praise they get. And I will absolutely be buying the 7 string version. (And the rumored 8 string should it come to reality???) American Musical supply is also a huge help in this purchase. The payment plans are a massive plus, and their customer service was tremendously easy going and friendly.Dustin
