For over 10 years, I've been casually searching for just the right Telecaster. I've tested out many over the years (new and used), and with the wide variety of neck styles on different models and series, I just never found the right one. When Fender announced this 70th Anniversary Broadcaster earlier this year, something told me this might finally be the one. So I decided to roll the dice and order one from MF without first playing one and I'm thrilled to report that it not only met but also exceeded all of my expectations. I was most concerned about the U-shaped neck – not being a fan of so-called "baseball bats" of the early 1950s. It's just slightly more chunky than a modern Tele, but it's extremely comfortable and it only took me about a day to get completely comfortable with it. Now I absolutely love it. The action is perfect and there's no buzzing whatsoever up and down the neck. The Custom Shop Blackguard pick-ups sound fantastic. They are super-hot and give that classic Tele tone. Before playing it, I was a little disappointed that Fender decided to include the wiring kit to duplicate the original Broadcaster blending-mode as a user-installed option instead of wiring it this way at the factory, but after hearing these pick-ups the way they are, I won't be re-wiring it anytime soon. I had mixed emotions about the lacquer finish with the see-through wood grain when looking at the photos online, but in person the guitar looks fantastic. My only reservation is that the lacquer makes the back of the neck a little tacky but over time this should work itself out. I've already noticed that after a week of playing it has already improved. One other thing about this guitar that still amazes me is the weight. It is perfect – not too light and also not a boat anchor hanging around your neck. I also love the custom American-made G&G deluxe tweed case. Do yourself a favor and order this guitar while you still can!Lou Z.
I bought this in order to not duplicate what I left behind during a 3000 mile move last month, after doing enough research to learn that an Esquire is significantly different from a Telecaster. Indeed, this guitars sounds quite different, and in my view can stand in for a Gretsch but with better feel. The chunky neck is vintage and not 70's style as some have stated. I have tiny hands so was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it feels up and down the neck. Not slippery at all either. The natural finish is darker than in the photos, but it's still nice to see pine grain. Heavier shellac than I expected, but it sounds great. Not as much tonal range as other Fenders, but I didn't buy it for that. I'm going to try all-nickel strings when I get it set up, for an even more vintage sound, but it's great with the Fender nickel plated steel strings.mhschmieder
I finally have a Telecaster, and not just any Tele, but possibly the nicest one I've come across. I absolutely LOVE the color scheme (though I wouldn't mind a slightly lighter colored fret board – rosewood or pau ferro)! Everything about this guitar screams quality and attention to detail. It plays well and sounds fantastic! I have a Gibson SG, Epiphone Sheraton, Fender Jazzmaster, and now this Tele Ultra and so far, I think this is the best sounding guitar out of the bunch. Gibson flying v – original collection in antique natural. purchased in january 2021 from sweetwater. fantastic guitar but received very minimal play. really don t want to sell it but need to at this time. practically mint condition and zero visible wear/tear. beautiful wood grain pattern on this one. the burstbucker pickups really sing and have such dynamic range. hard shell case in excellent condition as well despite some white streak marks from the wall, included in the photos. all case candy included. still has a bit of that new guitar smell and really hoping she can land in a great home.

I'm a collector and player of the unique and unusual of the big brand and some off brand stuff. Never been a huge Gibby fan, even though in a classic rock guy. The flying v crescent moon is wonderful though, and has a vibe and feel all its own. When you think that legends from Hendrix to king played them, and had a style all they're own, the V just has its own place in the guitar world. I swapped the hot ceramic Gibby pups for some Seymour Duncan's with chrome covers, as I wanted a more dressed look and blues warmth from this lightweight but oh so solid beast. I did the graphitec saddles as well, again for a warm vibe. The result is amazing, period. I'll put her against anything from anybody in tone, weight, style, playability and feel. Even before the mods, still best of the best. All welds perfect, fret work perfect, finish accomplished the look of a vintage road warrior. Nickle hardware, true Ebony fretboard, feels like one gorgeous piece of mahogany in your arms as the neck and body are so perfectly set together.golfn64
This guitar sounds so good, it's hard to say if it's the wood or pickups. Who cares? It sounds good. Good tone and sustain. I look forward to playing it. Tuning is easy, playing it is comfortable. It has the original good looks that the Flying V was made with. I have heard people with Gibsons say that they with the knobs were like on my V. They also liked the placement of the jack. Which, I want to say, are 2 solid reasons I wanted this guitar. The Through-the=body stop and the jack at the end of the wing tip. Very nice.David
Gibson Flying V. Antique natural. Low action and great playability from factory. Awesome fretboard even though multiple tool marks around fret ends. Good access. Pickups sound good clean and can get hot enough for metal with a boost. Nice grain in wood. Couple small sand marks under nitro. Neck feels great. Giving it 4 stars for cosmetic issues but played so well did not send it back or even pursue price reduction. Case is very nice. AMS great as always. Killer payment plans and fast shipping.Todd
3. Fender Jimmy Page Telecaster – Natural

This is a handpainted copy of the dragon telecaster with less than two hours playing time on it. the guitar was manufactured by glarry whose website states the body is basswood, the neck and fingerboard are maple. i did the design with enamel and sprayed it with 5 coats of clear laquer. i added jinn ho locking tuners, an oak grigsby 4 way switch, an orange drop .47 cap, and a switchcraft output jack. the pickups are the original ones that came with it. the strings are revrend willie mexican lottery .07's. i will include two knobs for the selector switch (not pictured) but do not have the knobs for tone and volume. neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good. no case included.

While I don’t play line a legend, this guitar could be played by one. I have always enjoyed the sound achieved by players while they were utilizing a Tele. I usually play on an old classical guitar. I have grown used to that neck shape so I usually find the shape of the standard Tele neck to feel unfamiliar to my hand. The neck on this guitar feels wider and flatter so more like a classical to me. I’m not saying it is a classical style neck just wider and flatter feeling to me. I was not sure about buying it because I’ve played other Tele’s and was not sold on how the neck felt to me, they sound great but didn’t feel right. I got this one well because “Jimmy Page “ so even if I didn’t like the neck who cares again “Jimmy Page “ so whatever. Then I played this guitar and I was like .”this guitar is magical!!”. I had never played a Tele that felt like it just wanted to be played like this one does. I cannot recommend this guitar enough. It is expensive but worth every penny. Just started using this in rehearsals and recorded some new songs with it. Killer tone and everything you'd expect from a Jimmy Page model. Fun to play under the lights with the reflective materials, and strikingly great to look at. I only took off one star in the rating for some improvements I made in the action, and replace the bridge with Graph Tech bridge to allow for less friction and more steady tuning. Loving this guitar, already used it tracking on two of my new songs. If you want that authentic early Zep or Ybirds tone, plug this in and crank it up. If you're a snappy picker Americana kind of player, it works for that too. The only thing I can say wrong is that the guitar wasn't strung properly went I got it, it's a through the body setup and the strings were just put through the bridge plate. I was searching for a good solid hb that would give me a brown sound on a budget and this little punum fit the bill. After some research I found out that these are made in the good ol usa and modeled after the sound of the vintage 70's/'80's dean guitars, which came stock with Dimarzio SD's. The designers also listened to players suggestions on where they felt improvement was needed and went to work. What you have in the TC really is an improved SD, balanced highs and mids smooth lows, no unpleasant shrills or spikes across the frequency range with good tight clean crunch and hints of that out of phase growl. Mind you this pup went into an ash body mounted at an angle on a custom pickguard with just a 500k volume pot ala evh so that setup does free up some db's but I am sure that no matter what your setup is, you too will be very pleased with the sound and eq of the Time Capsule not to mention the awesome value u get for the money.vector2318c

I owned and played one of these semi-pro for a decade back in the '80s because it was a hassle switching from 6 to 12 string guitars and always having to redial the amp for the different pickup outputs. The heavy mahogany body (and it IS heavy, especially neck-heavy, the reason for the 4 rating) produces crystalline sound with excellent articulation and sustain and the output between necks is well-balanced. The 1275 gave me the versatility and ease of switching (one switch) that I wanted and a sound I loved. My single-neck 12s have been Rics. The 1275 lacks the Ric "jangle" but that's a minor drawback. I also owned a Carvin koa doubleneck: decent 12 string half, totally useless 6 string, but it was well-balanced weight-wise. I played a BC Rich "Bich" doubleneck and the thing is an ergonomic nightmare and didn't sound nearly as good as the Gibson. I installed a belt hook on my strap for the 1275 keep the necks from falling down when I let go and it worked well. If you want a doubleneck, get the Gibson.Jerry

Overall: So this was my first MK guitar. Gotta be honest, I almost sent it back. It wasn't the quality or looks, it was I just didn't love it. I have another t style guitar, which is my fave body style, and 8 was just like it's really not better than my current guitar. After a night of contemplating, decided I didn't wanna mess with shipping it back. Long story short it's now the guitar I prefer to play. The neck is amazing and the tones you can get with the third pickup are great. Every guitar I've gotten as of late has made me better and expanded how I play. This one is just excellent and I'm already eyeing another MK Tele. Love it.
Years ago a friend of mine lent me his "Nashville" t-style guitar and I fell in love with the thing but had other guitars to buy. When I saw this I figured I'd take a chance. Price is good, features are good, what could go wrong? The pickups. The pickups went wrong. The bridge pickup is okay, if a bit on the thin side. Workable, but only just. The neck pickup is one of the muddiest things I've ever tried to use. You can get a good tone out of it but then your bridge is an icepick and if you turn on the middle pickup it gets even worse because of all the "air." Also the middle pickup is an s-style pickup without a cover, so have fun changing that one out. What's especially disappointing is that this is a very well built guitar. Absolutely no issues with the actual construction quality. Tuners are smooth, pots and switches seem solid enough, bridge is fine… everything about this guitar is quality. But the pickups bring it so far down it's going back. Why do I still recommend it? Because if you're the type that already has some extra pickups laying around you'll absolutely love this thing. It's a solid platform to start from and tweak into something special. Bone stock, however, it's disappointing.Michael M.

The 1953 electric guitar with maple fretboard is a traditional instrument that has evolved. just the right amount of vintage magic makes the 1953 the choice for those that are seeking a more traditional instrument. the '53s all-alder body is capped with flame maple and the pickup configuration is vintage traditional. well at least that is how it appears. as the name implies you get 4 great sonic options instead of the expected 3 options. it is like having a nice fat humbucker as those two pickups work together. the 1953 also has some nice and hot single-coil rockfield's designed especially for this instrument. quad mod the quad mod gives you the traditional three-position tonal performance, while adding a valuable 4th pickup setting. this added tonal option turns on both neck and bridge pickups in series which is a thick and punchy tone much like a humbucker. however considering the two coils are located in completely different locations on the guitar the tone is as unique as it is useful and a welcome addition to the standard two single coil pickup configuration.

Overall: I have a small, but carefully curated collection of guitars. I can't/don't spend big bucks on each guitar, so I want to make sure whatever I get ticks a lot of boxes and, for me, this is perfect. It's light weight, super comfortable (has both arm and belly cuts) and plays like a dream. And with all the super thin necks that are so prevalent today, it's nice to find something a bit more standard for those of us with bigger hands. The good: Very resonant acoustically before being plugged in, this is the most important sound test, pickups can be changed, a dull instrument is a dead end. The nut was cut well. The fit and finish was excellent, no blemishes, overspray etc. The binding looked perfect. Weight was very good, not too heavy. I really liked the neck and shape, not ultra thin but not too bulky either. They seemed to find that happy medium. The tuners are very good, but I'll probably swap them out for a set of hipshot locking tuners just to make string changes a little quicker. Pickups are very nice. I was assuming that I would upgrade them but after playing this a while, I'm not sure the improvement would be worth the cost as these sound great. The 4th selector option that converts the two singles to a humbucker sound is very nice, I've found my self gravitating there in certain situations. This pickup option takes a great all around tele and makes it a complete workhorse for live shows. I have a Gibson Les Paul, PRS CE, several high end Ibanez guitars, a very nice Godin Velocity as well as various other guitars. This guitar was to check the telecaster box for me and it makes me wonder why I didn't get one sooner. Great all around guitar, this could very easily become my go to live guitar just because it's such a player and is much less expensive than my other ones. It can definitely cover all the bases of the other ones. I can't compare this to a high end Fender because I don't own one but I imagine the differences would be minimal. I recommend this guitar as a good mid tier option. It punches higher than it's weight and is a great value for the money.Jeremy
Overall: First off the looks. Wow ! I get a lot of compliments on this thing. The neck is a great smooth satin modern c shape and the frets were finished nicely. Fretboard is rolled well and feels good and the nut is well made, I did take the nut down to a lower first fret action as they ship a little high . The electronics were a lot better than I expected have full size pots and nice cloth wire with a fender style robust switch . The pickups are great !! They aren’t special at one thing but perfect all rounders ! I don’t feel the need to change them any time soon .

While I don’t play line a legend, this guitar could be played by one. I have always enjoyed the sound achieved by players while they were utilizing a Tele. I usually play on an old classical guitar. I have grown used to that neck shape so I usually find the shape of the standard Tele neck to feel unfamiliar to my hand. The neck on this guitar feels wider and flatter so more like a classical to me. I’m not saying it is a classical style neck just wider and flatter feeling to me. I was not sure about buying it because I’ve played other Tele’s and was not sold on how the neck felt to me, they sound great but didn’t feel right. I got this one well because “Jimmy Page “ so even if I didn’t like the neck who cares again “Jimmy Page “ so whatever. Then I played this guitar and I was like .”this guitar is magical!!”. I had never played a Tele that felt like it just wanted to be played like this one does. I cannot recommend this guitar enough. It is expensive but worth every penny. Just started using this in rehearsals and recorded some new songs with it. Killer tone and everything you'd expect from a Jimmy Page model. Fun to play under the lights with the reflective materials, and strikingly great to look at. I only took off one star in the rating for some improvements I made in the action, and replace the bridge with Graph Tech bridge to allow for less friction and more steady tuning. Loving this guitar, already used it tracking on two of my new songs. If you want that authentic early Zep or Ybirds tone, plug this in and crank it up. If you're a snappy picker Americana kind of player, it works for that too. The only thing I can say wrong is that the guitar wasn't strung properly went I got it, it's a through the body setup and the strings were just put through the bridge plate. Restrung it properly and away we went. Maybe American Musical should send me a free set of strings!Gregmedia123

Pickguard looks perloid in the picture and solid white is what I got. Upper neck has NO pickup selection. I know because I took it apart and all 3 upper pickups are wired directly to the output!! The knob in the middle, should be a blend pot that allows one to have one, both or adjust volume between the 2 necks. What the factory did was McGeyver a regular volume pot to try to do the same thing that kinda works, but not very well. 6 string neck on the on I recieved was very unstable! If you push one way or another, you can hear it go out of tune. 12 string neck is actually a little better, but the string break angle at the nut is ridiculous and pulls at the nut. I had to glue the nut in place (should have been done at the factory) to keep the strings in their proper place. Now I know at this price point for this type of guitar, you might have to put some work in, but some basic stuff should be ok from the jump and quality control sucks. I am a tinkerer and 40 year guitar player. So I know some things and know how to fix stuff. Good Luck if you get one of these that is playable out the box!!Rodd

Love the feel of the neck in my hands. It's smooth and thin. The tones are amazing and it's the best looking of all of my guitars. The only issue is the pick guard produces static. I put shielding tape on it and packed the cavity but it stills produces static. I'll take it to a luthier and get that worked out but over all love the guitar.Al

I was on the edge about this guiitar, 59 neck on an sg, when is an sg not an sg anymore, major neck dive from thicker neck, etc. I am glad I went for it, one of the best guitars I've played, and I own a few custom shop gibsons, r7 custom, r8, r9, etc. Awesome tone, somewhat warmer than small neck sgs and super comfortable. I was very surprised that it has no neck dive to speak of. Qc is top notch, playability is awesome and looks fantastic. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Like I said WOW. I owned and played one of these semi-pro for a decade back in the '80s because it was a hassle switching from 6 to 12 string guitars and always having to redial the amp for the different pickup outputs. The heavy mahogany body (and it IS heavy, especially neck-heavy, the reason for the 4 rating) produces crystalline sound with excellent articulation and sustain and the output between necks is well-balanced. The 1275 gave me the versatility and ease of switching (one switch) that I wanted and a sound I loved. My single-neck 12s have been Rics. The 1275 lacks the Ric "jangle" but that's a minor drawback. I also owned a Carvin koa doubleneck: decent 12 string half, totally useless 6 string, but it was well-balanced weight-wise. I played a BC Rich "Bich" doubleneck and the thing is an ergonomic nightmare and didn't sound nearly as good as the Gibson. I installed a belt hook on my strap for the 1275 keep the necks from falling down when I let go and it worked well. If you want a doubleneck, get the Gibson.Jerry

FIrst off wasn't expecting perfection. Knew tuners would probably need changed( which I did to locking). And pickups would need changed(Replaced bridge pickup). Out of the box ,Fit and Finish is surprisingly very nice .Found zero paint blemishes and intonation decent also .No fret sprout or sharp edges to cut your hands .No dead spots. Action just about perfect. Comfortable to play when sitting or standing. Tuners are usable but can tell low quality. Bridge pickup just does not cut it in sound for me, Not clear, Mushy. For what a BC costs, This with the upgrades is well under budget and just as nice.skidoo1969
