1. Dv Mark Little Jazz Guitar Combo Amp
Product Details:
Jazz guitarists are well aware that creating a great jazz tone requires not only the right guitar but also the right amplifier. the dv little jazz 45w 1×8" guitar combo has been designed with a jazz guitar in mind. lots of attractive features which make it a new standard for jazz guitarists and everyone in need of a small, ultra-compact, very-portable combo with a clean, warm, powerful sound!
Reviews:
I bought this amp…… then I sold this amp…… then I went out and bought another!!! That's how much I missed it. For Jazz tones you will not find a better amp in this size (1×8"). I also have a Roland JC-40, which is also a great Jazz amp! The DV Mark is warm and clean, no breakup at all, tons of headroom. I was surprised at how much bass frequency it pumps out, which was a pleasant surprise I must say. I actually had to roll the bass on the amp back a ways to lighten it up a bit. It has an xlr out, which is helpful in larger settings – it also has an aux in, which is really cool. It's my only amp with an aux in and it's nice to be able to play backing tracks through it. Great practice amp too! My only complaint with it is the Reverb feels too "springy" to me. I know this is personal taste and some may think it's wonderful – but I'll end up using my Strymon Flint for the Reverb, which is fine. It takes pedals, like Reverb and Modulations well. Overdrive pedals have to be played with to get a sound that I like (again this amp isn't your 'break up' sound, which is okay – it's not intended for that). All in all, this is a great little amp, good for smaller (coffee shop) venues or bigger (with xlr out or mic'ed). Perfect for Jazz. I don't have any problems with the fan that other reviewers talk about. It doesn't really bother me. All the DV Mark amps seem to have fans (that I have seen) – this is just them I guess. I think it's quiet and I'm not recording with it right now – might try that later. Get it – you won't be disappointed.bill
I was skeptical about the overall quality and that small speaker, however…….tone is full and I did not have to fight it to get a good sound out of it. I wanted a small amp to move around the house. I will use this amp at low volume only. No fan on this one. Nice, warm jazz tone with the archtop. The reverb sounds a bit weird, like there's some delay in there but the good news is that I like to add some delay and I use it sparingly anyway. Not sure how this would perform in a band setting but for my needs, it's perfect.Rchtop
Just got this today and was really surprised at just how well it sounds with my archtop guitars. Digital reverb sounds great on this amp. for only an eight inch speaker it really fills a good size room with it's rich jazz tones. Was going to buy a "Henriksen Amp" but they are way to much $$$$ for me. Glad I bought this amp to add to my collection. Time will tell if it holds up electronically. Cooling fan is really quiet and mounted on the inside of the amp. Amp is only 15 pounds great for playing on my front patio. EXL – 1, T50 Slim. and AF – 95 guitars!Paul
2. Marshall Jvm410hjs – Joe Satriani Guitar Amplifier Tube Head
Product Details:
The marshall jvm410h joe satriani edition 100w head is an addition to the marshall signature series. marshall's r&d engineers worked vefry closely with satriani to craft the jvm410hjs. after much experimentation and an assortment of trials that involved satriani using prototypes during recording and touring, they signed off on the final version and the jvm410hjs went into production. the most notable difference from the original jvm410 is that the reverb pots have been replaced with four nose gates, one for each channel, and each with their own threshold. a mid shift button has been added and can be used with both the od1 and od2 channels. the clean channel is based on the 6100 when on the green mode, with the orange and red modes being hotter variations. the crunch channel takes the original jvm410 crunch and adds some of the popular marshall "afd" circuit to it. the od channels are voiced identically, based on the jvm410 od1 but with the gain scaled back slightly and a smoother transition between modes. the mid shift button determines the difference in mid character between the original jvm410 od1 and od2 tone, moving the mids from around 650khz (mid shift off) to around 500khz (mid shift on). the jvm410hjs is powered by el34 tubes and has two master volumes, the supplied footswitch allows you to switch between channels, modes, master volumes, fx loop and now the noise gates and mid shift as well. there is also a full midi implementation.

Reviews:
Extremely versatile amp. I play a lot of electric blues but I grew up on hard rock/metal. Today I also play a little bluegrass, country, classical, pop and whatever suits my mood at the time. But at the end of the day, I usually revert to a heavier sound. Now the Marshall has a nice clean sound, although not as clean as my old Fender Pro Reverb. You can't have everything. Where this amp really shines is in its ability to generate anything from mild overdrive to extreme high gain. With this amp I can get high gain harmonics that I could not get from other amps, even with heavy gain effects. The only negative really is that the amp is quite physically heavy.Fuzzy
Firstly, I am in a bar/party cover band of older (>30 years to nearly 60) musicians with day jobs. We are not all Recent Hits, but do mostly songs people have heard of in all years from mid 60s to this year. The flexibility of this head is its big feature for someone like me. This is not a prescriptive review — this is just how I use it. Some of the skeptics have wondered why you would need 4 channels with 3 tones each. They have a good point, but not one that applies to a cover band. If I had to have one amplifier, it would have to produce the tones that this amp can do on channel 2 (crunch) green and orange, and channel 3 (OD1) green and orange. Crunch orange and OD1 green are quite similar and are the tones of the classic plexis and old Marshalls. Crunch green is what you would want for "clean" tone with a Marshall level of compression and just a little breakup for an electric guitar. OD1 at orange is what you would do for distorted classic rock — adding an overdrive in front of a plexi or a very saturated pickup, for example. For every song I really like, and everything I would do if I wasn't doing covers, those two channels at those two colors would cover it. For gigs, I can set channel 1 (clean) and Channel 4 (OD2) to be more extreme. The clean channel is actually what i use to be my acoustic guitar and occasionally as my hollow body electric emulating an acoustic. It is not perfect, nor is as good as having a specialized acoustic amp or clean tone jazz amp. However, it is good enough, and it simplifies the signal path to not have separate amps, and there is enough separate EQ to make it work. Channel 4 can be used for dirtier, more distorted stuff, and the weird thing is that now I use it entirely for country. My band doesn't do any metal, and the heaviest guitar sounds we do are the likes of Carrie Underwood. Getting the hiss to go away is not that big of a deal — put an MXR Smart Gate or any other gate I've tried into the _serial_loop_ and twist the knobs — it will take care of the problem. The JS head might be better and I haven't tried it. I do appreciate that you can't use the OD channels on this without a noise gate, but it isn't a big dial to fix. The reverb is good but nothing special. Reading this review before submitting, I realize that the oddest thing is that I personally have no use for any of the red versions of the four channels. That is probably a classic rock attitude — this thing has a lot more metal tone than I will ever use, so you should use other reviews if you want that.Iceandsnow
This is just and amazing head… I can't complement it enough. I wanted so many of the iconic Marshall tones but couldn't afford to go out and buy a JCM 800, 900, Plexi…etc. This head truly does a great job of getting all the tones your looking for. It does take a little dialing in with all the different modes in each channel to find what they all do… but once you have it kind of figured out its a tone machine. the included foot switch is a pleasant surprise also. It's programmable and works like a charm with just a normal guitar cable. I have also used the midi switching capabilities and they are also wonderful, though not as easy to use as the foot switch. If you are a gigging musician or just want a lot of options…..get one of these!Tony

4. Rivera Suprema 55 Jazz Edition 55-Watt 1×15" Guitar Combo
Product Details:
I bought this brand new from guitars n' jazz in summit, nj about 6 years ago. i have used it on select gigs and recording sessions, however it has spent most of its life home.this amp is so versatile; great for jazz gigs (like wes or joe pass), or rnb/blues gigs (bb king to eric clapton), or rock (jimmy page). the amp is built like a bunker, and will probably outlast us all. it has volume to spare, and the tone is pretty consistent from soft to loud.it is in perfect working order. it has a weber neodynium 15" speaker for a mellower jazz tone, but still gets a good rock and blues tone. the tubes are new and i have at least two more pairs of good power tubes for you. a tuki vinyl cover is also included. although the amp "only" weighs 45 lbs., its more than i want to carry right now.local pickup or delivery only (i can deliver if not too far for gas and tolls).
5. Used 5f1 Clone Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier
6. Used Epiphone Valve Junior Guitar Tube Amp Head
Product Details:
These amps are considered among the best bargains available for a tube amp. the valve junior kicks out five watts using a class a, single-ended design that deploys an el84 output tube and a single 12ax7 for the preamp. features are dead simple; just a single volume control similar to amps from the 1950s and an 8" speaker in the back.
Reviews:
Ok, listen well, this amp is NOT for beginners, then again maybe it is….This amp will teach you to work on your amps, which if you plan on going tube you need to know anyways, almost every one of these amps share a similar ( but super easy to fix) problem. Behind the back panel there are 1- 3 white tubes. These hold your fuses. By pushing in and turning they come apart allowing you to access the fuse, inside these tubes are the connector ends. IF YOUR AMP IS NOT OR STOPS WORKING YOU MUST SAND THESE. Its literally the cause of all problems in this amp over 95% of the time, it seems so simple and it is. If your power light comes on, but your tubes dont light up and no sound comes out i can almost promise this will fix it. Onto the juicy stuff, this amp is great for modding or if you just want something simple. If this is your first amp, perhaps move onto something solid state.bumplewart
OK first off I LOVE tube amps period!!! The reason why I rated this amp as excellent isnt because its as well made as some boutique amps. Its not hand wired and doesnt have the bells and whistles as the big dogs. Its a very plain and simple amp BUT for the money you cant get better IMHO. I bought it on the bay used. The tubes it came with are better than the originals. I think they are Groove tubes??? Its VERY quiet no matter which guitar I ran through it. IDK if there were any mods done to this amp. Its a head so I ran it through a V30 speaker loaded in a vintage 50s cab. Its really loud for an amp thats less than 5 watts. Cranked it gets a really nice power tube OD. However its too loud for playing around the house at that volume so I tried a few pedals in front of it. What I found works best with what I have on hand are the xotic pedals. Mainly the BB Comp pedal. It gives this little amp a HUGE tone!!!! I find myself playing for hours through this thing. The other pedal I like is the RC Boost from Xotic. Those pedals dont color the tone much. They really bring the best out of this amp IMO. I am not affiliated with either Xotic or Epiphone and I didnt get paid to review these products. For the money you really cant go wrong. Im gonna buy at least a couple more of these amps while they are still reasonably priced. Oh yea the one I have is the 3rd version. It seems they finally got all the problems straightened out by this version. Then of course the stopped making them?????/ IDK why. Anyway thats an opinion from a professional guitarist whos been playing through tube amps since the 60s. Take that with a grain of salt.Good lock and TURN IT UP!!!!!!! PEACEdovetailuv
The Epiphone Valve Jr (EVJ) is one of the best small low watt tube amps out there. In it's first and second versions it wasn't quite as good as the Ver.3 that is now available. Most guitarist would laugh at a 5 watt amp until they hear the EVJ coupled with the EVJ cab. If we were looking at a solid state amp of the 5 watt area…laugh on…but…the tube 5 watts sounds super big. Some have compared it to a 30 – 50 watt solid state amp in sound. The sound is super clean and nice (though it is a little muddy in the lows and not quite pronounced in the highs in its stock form). It is surprising that the Ver.3 EVJ's come with a Sovetek EL84 power tube and an Electro Harmonix 12AX7EH pre-amp tube. This is a nice combination that gives you clean sound and will break up nicely when overdriven. The sound is not found in a lot of amps that are of this caliber. There are alot of mods out there that can be done to make this little guy sound much, much better and also add a couple of extras too (reverb, tone and gain controls, etc.). But for the money…..this little amp is the ticket. It is highly recommended to change the tubes out by some but I like how the stock Sovtek and Electro Harmonix tubes react to my playing. I would also recommend that you use noisless pickups in your strat when playing this amp. The hot noiseless Fender pups sound awesome! Buy one, mod it, or have it modded and see for yourself…..this little amp makes big enough sound for some small gigs, studio recording, and it is quite enough to let you overdrive it in your dorm room without bothering others!quinty823
