It's an itty bitty little thing. It's so lightweight it almost floats away! It was perfectly set up out of the box, it arrived with no damage. First, I tuned it. (It was close, whoever set it up musta tuned it before shipping). It's got very accurate tuning pegs, not like a Squier or Glarry, with slack in the pegs. Then I sat down and ran through some scales, and strummed some chords. It's got a fast playing neck. I can play faster on this guitar, than any I've tried, and I've played hundreds of guitars from an American Fender 52 reissue Telecaster, down to the terrible cheap electric guitars of the 1960s. Anyway, I finally got around to plugging into my Blackstar Fly 3 battery amp, and wow those Mitchell humbuckers are HOT! I love this little thing, it's going to be my main axe, and I'm going to order it a new hard shell case, so it stays looking great.The Volkswagen Cowboy
For the most part; this a pretty nice beginner's guitar. It has nice features that aren't usually found on cheaper guitars. I was very impressed with the body contours, pickup arrangement, sealed tuners, & string through body. I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son. I paid a little extra for expedited shipping & it arrived less than 48hrs after I ordered it! Everything was great until I tuned up the guitar & found that the claims that "every guitar receives a stateside set up" are entirely false. The ends of the fret wire are extremely sharp; there's no way that I'd let a child attempt to play this without first filing down/ dressing the frets to avoid gouging your hands. It seems to stay in tune fairly well; which is rather surprising as the neck is NOT properly bolted to the guitar body. There is a relatively large gap between the neck & body- large enough to see daylight! The gap is likely due to common machine assembly w/ poor quality control. I'm somewhat excited to see how well this guitar will play after I disassemble the neck, drill the body holes 1/16" larger, file the frets, & reassemble w/ some higher quality strings. Even with the additional work that's necessary; it's still a rather nice guitar & definitely cheaper than a project guitar. Last time I checked; it was around $20 or so to have a guitar set up by a Luthier- so it still works out to be a decent buy if you bought it & paid to have it set up. I'm just rather disappointed that the only problem with the entire transaction is a very simple issue that could be avoided w/ a couple tweaks of the CNC machines spitting these out by the 100's…Jonathan
I am quite fond of short scale guitars, and I rate this one quite high on the list of must haves! Frets are adequately dress, it is quite light, finish (walnut satin) is excellent. Playability is quite good, intonation is spot on, even the pickups are ok, though I did change them out on mine, along with putting some shielding paint in the pickup and control cavities and swapping out the potentiometers (none of this was necessary, but you know how us guitarists can be!). The kind of music I like is 70s rock, 80s and 90s metal, I don't play clean much – always some grit coming outta the amp! I got this on sale, so it was well below $100. Not sure what else to say, but if you are on the fence about getting one of these, either for yourself or a young, aspiring rocker, just pull the trigger, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Main thing to keep in mind on this is playability and setup are very good for a guitar in its price point even at full price, maybe even twice the price. Is it perfect? No, but it doesn't need to be, just needs to be good and it is. Just get the darn thing. it's a fun guitar to play, looks and sounds good as well.Scott

First thing that I noticed when unpacking was how much better this looked than the pictures. The gloss finish with the wood stain just looks incredible with the highly colored abalone around the sound hole. The binding isn't just black like my previous Breedlove, but I don't know how to describe it, looks amazing though. Second thing I did was change strings to my preferred D'Addario Gypsy Jazz. There was some fret buzz so I raised the action. It came with a battery, but it was dead, so replaced that. Once set up I plugged it into my amp and the guitar plays great and sounds amazing, so impressed with it overall. Only minor complaint is that the tuners stick a bit, I guess they had to save money somewhere.Neal
When i received this guitar i was blown away by how perfect it was, not a flaw to be found anywhere. It was Almost perfectly in tune !!! tuned it up and it took me back to my younger days. excellent tone, great projection and stellar looks. if i had too gripe it, it is somewhat thin on the bottom end, but not a deal breaker at all.while somewhat subtle the top has a lot of figuring in it and moves a lot as you look over it, the back is fully quilted and the sides are flamed nicely. as a side note it doesn't come with a hard case….but i did find that this case(Epiphone EL-0CS) fits it PERFECTLY !!
My bass collection lacked both a fretless and an acoustic, so hoping to kill two birds with one stone, I ordered this on a lark. I also have been intrigued by Breedlove for a while as a company. Couldn't be more pleased with this bass. Great action. Fretboard is super comfortable. Tone is full and warm. I find myself playing this acoustically nearly every day now in the three months since I've had it. The preamp is not perfect and feedback is a bit of a (not insurmountable)danger when it's plugged in. I have not gigged with it but I recommend highly for practice, recording, small groups, writing. In short, a beautiful, fun bass at a fair price.

I bought this guitar to serve as a backup while my main guitar, an Ibanez Premium RG1070FM, is gone several weeks for warranty repair. I needed a practice guitar with the same scale length and double-locking tremolo, and after three days, it's doing great. It's my first guitar with a poplar body, and tonally it seems similar to basswood but slightly brigher; this combination of woods and pickups makes the guitar nice for mid-heavy soloing without sounding brittle. The neck and fretboard rivals guitars costing three times as much, like the Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HH FR I had. The neck joint and heel is less clunky than the Charvel's when it comes to reaching frets 19-24; although playing the upper frets is better on the JS32DKA, I still prefer the All-Access Neck Joint on late model Ibanez RGs. I've been an Ibanez RG devotee for 23 years, but thanks to the JS32DKA, I'll give Jackson guitars serious consideration when I'm in the market for a gigging gutiar. I'm thinking Soloist SL2 or SL3. A few negative: 1. There was too much play in the tremolo arm, despite the inner hex screw and arm collar being fully tightened. Sadly, I've played enough entry-level guitars to know that this is a fact of life. I had spare parts, so I replaced the arm socket with and arm with Floyd Rose branded one I had lying around. The collar still needs to be tightened down after every song, but the socket itself no longer wobbles in the base plate when you pull or push the bar. 2. My bridge pickup squeals with moderate gain dialed in on my Blackstar HT Club 40 MKII amp. I have DiMarzio pickups on my Ibanez and Seymour Duncans in my Schecter, and I get no feedback with those guitars; this leads me to believe the stock pickups in the JS32 are not wax potted to prevent feedback.Indiana_Tim
I needed a comfortable guitar to record some song ideas, and this one seemed to fit the bill. The finish is really nice, although it's a lot darker in person than it is in the pictures. It's really comfortable sitting down. It seems to stay in tune, so I don't have to put locking tuners on it just yet. And now for the downsides… There's a few minor blemishes on the back of the neck, but they can probably be easily sanded out, or them might smoothen out after significant playing time. The fretboard is incredibly dry, so I recommend conditioning it with some mineral oil right away. The pickups are low quality. As in, they kinda hurt your ears when playing them. No big deal, I'm gonna switch them out for some EMG 81/60 I got lying around, so I didn't expect them to be good from the start. No big deal, really. What IS a big deal is the quality control on the frets. They are very rough, they make a scraping sound when you bend strings (which can be heard even through heavy distortion) and kills the notes real fast. I can't play it until I get them properly polished, so I get to dump some more money into it. Despite the low price, I expected more from Jackson, honestlyThijs
I love jackson guitars. I recently purchased the js32 and not being picky at all. First thing out of the box, impressed that it was really close to in tune yet immediately it had fret buzz, Could see runs in the paint as well. Ended up adjusting the truss rod, to help with fret buzz, adjusting the bridge to combat overly high action then adjusting springs in the back to compensate. By the time i had done that i also had to run the pick-ups way down due to strings touching. Literally nothing left un-adjusted in order to make it playable compared to their higher dollar guitars. 2 hours into it i could enjoy it. I think i blame fender takeover. Side note, bought a 700 dollar jackson and everything was horrible, turned out brand new, the strings were way too thick and had excessive pressure on the bridge, impossible to play.Randall Tadych

I got my Sheraton almost two years ago as a christmas gift, and I have played it more than any of my other guitars since then! It is a fantastic semihollow that feels perfectly suited to my playing style and my size (I'm 6'0"). It is comfortable to play sitting down or standing up, but I must say that for a semihollow, it is quite heavy. I love the classic twin humbucker, 4 knob, 3 way switch configuration. Usually I would use pedals to get my tones, but with this guitar I find myself just getting my amp to break up naturally, and play around with the tone knobs and volume knobs. I can get tons of different sounds that way, and I haven't used my pedalboard in a long time. My Sheraton in particular is quite bright, I don't know if all of them are like that, but mine is. This to me is great as I love bright guitars that can thicken up when turning the tone knob down. In fact, I keep my tone knobs turned down to about 7 or 8 90% of the time, and I turn them up when it's time to really dig in. I find that it can do blues comfortably, but it can also do hard rock and I even play fast Metallica songs complete with solos on it. When I got it, I immediately took off the not so great looking pickguard and put 11-50 strings on it. It was great out of the box, but I still needed to make a full setup just to get it to how I like my guitars set up. But still it felt too blingy for my personal taste, so I changed the gold screws on the pickup rings to black screws, and the gold knobs to vintage looking black ones. Now it looks so good that I sometimes catch a glimpse of it when sitting on my desk and feel the urge to go "oh yeah!" Some things that I don't like: the finish is quite plasticky and can get sticky after a while, plus it's not as perfect as I would have wanted. The neck has a very agressive thin shape that took me a while to get comfortable in, and still to this day will feel alien if I've been playing any of my other guitars. It is quite heavy, I haven't weighted it to see, but it is my heaviest guitar, and all of my other electrics are solidbodies. The pickup selector broke about two months in. Lastly, the split coils feel a bit useless to me, and the volume knobs have much less resistance to being turned than the tone knobs, which I imagine comes from the push pull functionality. But all of those are nitpicks for such a great guitar. I highly recommend the Sheraton. It is a fantastic guitar. Great sounds, great looks, and you get the classic ES-335 versatility that session musicians love. You really can't beat it at this price!
As with most people, I'm hesitant to buy guitars sight unseen through the mail. But with the current state of the world, that's becoming more and more the norm. Luckily the guitar arrived in absolutely perfect condition and set up nicely. The Red is really deep and rich. I know it's cliche, but the pictures really don't do it justice. I've been on a quest all these years for a guitar with a neck that properly fits my small hands and extremely short thumbs (nearly impossible to roll my thumb over the top of the neck ala Hendrix). I was torn between the Sheraton and the Casino, but decided on the Sheraton. When the next 48 month 0% promotion rolls around I may get the Casino as well. The tone of the Sheraton is very surprising for this price range. I also own a Clapton Strat (almost 3 times the price), and I absolutely enjoy the sound of the Sheraton more, as hard as that might be to believe. Obviously that is subjective. However, the place the Sheraton really shines for me is the neck! It fits my hands better than any other guitar I've ever played. Rolling my thumb over the top still isn't an easy proposition, but at least it's in reach (no pun intended), and with some practice I'll eventually get there. On the Strat it was impossible. I mainly play on the neck pickup, and it has a nice creamy, warm sound combined with my Blues Deluxe Reissue. I've never owned a 335 type guitar, as I always thought they were for jazz, but this guitar is very versatile. It's still a crapshoot with ordering through the mail, but I highly recommend the Sheraton if you (like me) can't afford a Gibson.Patrick B
Overall: Ive had this guitar a little over 24 hours now and cant put it down!! I got the blemished wine red model and the only blemish it had was a smidge of paint got on the binding where it meets the neck, i mean you had to really look close to see it and zZounds being the grandslam hitters that they are knocked 100 bucks off the price!!!I recieved it in a 1 1/2 days ( doesnt get any faster than that) and straight out of the box the action was perfect the intonation was spot on! The D string was maybe a cent out of tune. The guitar in wine red with the gold hardware is visually stunning, build quality you ask? Its built like a tank from the grover tuners, bone nut, loctone bridge and tail piece with a 3 way toggle you can litterally abuse and the probuckers sound amaZzing in full humbucker and coil split. This is a 1,000 + quitar with an intermediate price tag! Got to take a minute to shout out to the guys and gals at zZounds this is the third guitar that ive bought from them and they just keep knockin it out of the park!!! I will never shop for a guitar any where else you guys are first ballad hall of famers all the way!!! Overall: I own several guitars and play a few styles. I've always wanted an Ibanez as its a "super-Strat", but bever pulled the trigger. Satriani is a big influence on me and love his axes. So I finally decided to get one.Why did I wait so long? This thing is easier to play than my Fender Strat, lighter than my Epi Les Paul and I'm not going to need to upgrade it like I did my Epi SG. Out of the box, I as blown away with its design and simple beauty. That flamed maple top!!! After tuning I ran it through some places. Holy $h@&! A little cleaning, a quick string change a light set up and boom! Best $400 I've spent since my Les Paul, and more fun to play!!
Overall: I am now in my 2nd day of ownership and I decided to set this extremely light and sexy purple (blemished) have not found one …down long enuff to read reviews.and ya if I could find something about it I dont like… well havent!. What's there not to love at the reasonable price and the abilities this ax possesses. 5way and quantum is a nice pxkge.what. would one expect? At fraction of the price on those high dollar "others".. This (and the blue with rosewood/hardtail) are my first Ibanezes. I mostly play strats and Les Pauls. As I understand it, these have been referred to as Super Strats, because of the double cutaway and the HH. The blue has a matching headstock and a five tone switch. The neck is the most comfortable I've played, the strings are evenly spaced and there's plenty of room for your fingers, even at the top. The satin finished body has the same feel as the neck and it weighs around 6 pounds. After I found the dragon eye (reverse matching headstock, maple fretboard and whammy) at the same price, I couldn't let go of the blue, so now I have two. I'm playing them through my Boss Katana, and it's a good match. Gotta say, it's a totally new guitar playing experience, and the only question is which one to pick up first. I had played one of these in a store and liked the feel. After having one for a few weeks, I like it even more. I'm slightly taller than the average guy. Hence my fingers are a bit longer than the average guy. Maybe it is just because the neck seems to get thinner as you get up to the higher notes, but it seems like the neck is a little wider than the rest of my guitars up around the 15th to 24th frets. ("rest of my guitars" include Les Paul, Strat, Ibanez RG550, EVH Wolfgang, and others for reference). Aside from how great the paint job LOOKS, it does not have a gloss coat on it. This is a good thing since the paint job extends up the back of the neck allowing your hand to slide quite freely on the back of the neck. The bridge humbucker is fantastic. It screams the notes clearly with ZERO noise or hum when not playing. I'm not that impressed with the neck humbucker, but that's comparing it to the neck hum on my Les Paul, Carvin, and PRS Custom. AND, for about 90% of the 80s hair band songs you are never using that pickup anyway. The Floyd Rose is great! I got tired of waiting for it to need minor tuning adjustments naturally, so I'm to the point of TRYING to make it go out of tune even slightly and it STILL stays locked in tune. Overall, this guitar is now my GO TO for anything 80s (the biggest chunk of my playing preference).Steve
Having tried playing MANY of these in my hands, it seems that the quality control out of the Jackson Indonesia factory is hit-or-miss. If you get a good unit without problems, it is a great guitar with a great sound for a great price! And the looks are so nice as well. The neck thru body construction is so smooth and sweet. However, you might get a dud that sounds horrible. Or it might have severe defects in the neck or locking nut. In my experience, about 50% are of poor quality.
I was keen to find a 6 string that had a fixed bridge that I could use for covers and so I can retune to alternate tunings easily without having to get the screwdrivers and spending a lot of time retuning like a Locking Tremolo guitar. Thankfully the guitar already had Seymour Duncan pick ups in which are essential to having a aggressive tone but as well allow good expression so this meant it would be a case of getting the guitar out the box and playing rather than buying separate pick ups having to fit them in and so on. As I wanted a guitar that wasn't black or brightly colored the desert sand finish on the guitar really stood out and attracted me. Most of the SLP2's have a great selection of finish's. As for the neck and wood finish it is very smoothly and allows you to get quick access from from end of the neck to the other. Behind each the tuners on the headstock, there is this interesting circular turning device to help lock in the strings. This may help keep it in tune more but I also just attribute it staying in tune due to the general quality of the guitar. I bend the strings a lot for my lead playing and I play very aggressively with thick picks and rhythmically so once I put some heavier strings on (my preference) and configured the bridge saddles with a very small L shaped Allen/hex key the guitar stayed in tune.Tom H.

Overall: I am very very happy with this guitar. It is not a perfect instrument, but for the price, you can't really get a better semi hollow, and with the 339 body, its almost impossible to find a sub $500 model. Was really happy with the specs that Epiphone has upgraded to, the grover tuners and graphtech nut really help sell the package, (i hate switching out sub-par parts). The paint job on the F holes was a little lacking but I was able to touch up with a paint marker and the plywood top was sanded a little to much in some places, revealing the ply, but I really can't complain. the stock pickups sound great and while setting the instrument up, I was very impressed at how solidly put together it is and how well it plays. Great fret work, usually the frets are lacking on a guitar in this price range. It would be great to see a deluxe model for the 339 with some more cosmetic upgrades and pickups but this instrument is a steal, get it now!
I have always wanted a 335, but did not like the larger size. I saw this 339 and stepped up and bought it home. Had to wait 6 weeks, but was it ever worth it. This is the best guitar I have ever played or been around. Cannot make my mind up if it plays better than it looks, or if it looks better then it sounds. It came set up really well, intonation and all. All I had to do was tune it and go. Cannot find one flaw in the paint, assembly or anything wrong at all. It rings so true, holds a note and there is a major difference when selecting either pickup or both, and the tone and volume controls lets you have an infinite setting control on tone and volume. Set the bridge to really ring out and the neck one a little muddy and together it is killer, but can flip the switch and brighten a solo up good. An absolute joy to play. Just strike your favorite chord and let it ring…beautiful fun. I was worried about the neck thickness, but it is a non issue. Easy to chord, simple to fret in any way you please. Very comfortable to hold and play, with a slightly chunky neck which is my preference. Combines the best aspects of 335s and Les Pauls. It's also heavier than I thought it would be (again for me a good thing, I don't like feather-light guitars) I was expecting SG weights and annoying neck dive. As suggested already it seems to sound somewhere between a full-sized 335 type and a solid body, which again isn't much of a surprise. Seems to have more twang than my LP which is good for my taste, which is more soul and funk. The finish is also perfect, though slightly different to the one advertised at the time of purchase. The neck fades into a natural varnish rather than the all-black paint. Also the sides are solid natural varnish rather than the fading between black and natural effect.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Bought this guitar at a very reasonable price as my initial one was out of stock for a while so decided to spend a lite more. Swift delivery and free setup which was a clincher for me. Even sending me a a video of my guitar on the setup bench is exceptional service. However, my only downside is this; having a thorough setup I thought would avoid any annoying problems but sadly not. The guitar is great actually better than I expected but it has a really bad buzz on the low E an A strings, especially the E. Even to the point where D tuning is too annoying to play. So after trying everything I can with my humble knowledge including changing the strings froms 9s to 10s, altering the bridge height etc to no avail. Now I have to spend money for a setup anyway. I thought they may have spotted this, maybe they did and it was too big of a job for a free setup. Great guitar but still for to spend money on it
I bought my black metallic Squier Bullet eight years ago when GC was having a Columbus Day sale. I was looking for a guitar to which I could permanently mount my Roland GR-33 guitar synth's GK2a pickup. Previously I had the pickup mounted on my '96 Strat, and I didn't like this fit because I couldn't close my Strat's case with the pickup installed. I have a gig bag for this Squier, and it fits fine in the bag with pickup installed. Anyway, about the guitar. Right out of the box, it played great, requiring only a minimal amount of action adjustment. I was surprised at how good the pickups sounded, it being a Bullet and all. But the humbucker sounds especially nice when playing the guitar through my Marshall. The neck pickup has a decent sound, but not quite up to the snuff of a good alnico pickup. Still, for what the guitar cost, I really can't complain. If I want to, at some later date, I can always change out the neck pickup to a better alnico model. One thing I especially like about this black Bullet is its looks. The photos here at GC don't show it off all that well, but the guitar body's finish is metallic and the pickguard is a heavy metal flake. It looks spectacular under the lights. And the black hardware does a great job of completing that black look. The Bullet's body is thinner than a typical Strat or Squier Affinity or Classic Vibe body. The result is a light weight guitar, but there is no sacrifice in tone.Michael
Purchased the Squier Affinity Telecaster from local GC store. They had this and a bullet in stock. I chose the Affinity due to the overall feel and fret ends we're more smooth. For a sub 250ish price guitar you cannot expect it to play like a 1000+ price guitar and I totally get that. Now I did expect it to at least stay in tune. One thing to add however is I am uncertain how long this particular guitar had been in stock. Now after a few hours of playing I noticed I could not get this guitar to intonate. No matter what I did the low e and a string always sounded sharp. I ended up replacing the stock tuners with locking tuners, cleaned the fretboard, gently filed and lubricated the nut, and replaced the strings with Ernie ball 9's. Now she is in tune, intonation was a breeze and she stays in tune. Sounds like a whole new guitar.Steven

I really like this guitar. I had one of the original Mikro's which I got rid of years ago and wish I had kept it. The different is that this has a 5 way switch with coil spitting pickups and the original is a 3 way with no coil spitting. On the Paul Gilbert version 1st position is bridge full humbucker. 2nd bridge single coil neck single coil. 3rd is neck and bridge full humbucker. 4th is neck single coil. 5th is neck full humbucker. Very cool and a lot of tone choices. Pickups sound very good. Comes with 9 gauge strings on it, I put 10's and it help with some of the buzzing issues that it had. I took one star off because the nut could have been cut a little better. A great guitar for the money. 🙂DonV

I've been playing guitar & such for 20+ years and grew up in Miami, but am no expert on Cuban style folk stringed instruments. So weigh accordingly. This instrument is lovely. The top is a single piece of grainy cedar. The back and sides claim to be cedar, but I'm almost certain that they are mahogany. The bracings and such are made from all types of scrap wood, but the build is rock solid. No truss rod, but the neck is straight. The tuners have a lot of play, but maintain pitch quite well after a simple tightening. The action is pretty high and will require some nut and bridge sanding to make it playable, but I've never seen a guitar under 1grand where that wasn't the case. Of course, this makes the intonation really bad near the nut. Unfortunately, mine arrived set up with only 1 octave course (Gg, cc, ee; rather than Gg, cc, Ee as advertised). I've ordered some proper Labella Tres strings and will shave and reslot the nut and bridge when they arrive. The frets are tiny, and don't come anywhere near the edge of the fingerboard; so no sharp edges, but don't even consider bending outward. I find the distance between courses to be enormous. But the only reference I have is online pics of other instruments. If you want a gig-ready instrument straight from the box, this isn't it. But if you don't mind spending time/money on a proper set-up, this thing looks and sounds great.Ruesterlll
First time touching one of these, so I didnt know what to expect. It came with slack strings but tuning advice. I tuned it a sat it for a night. Retuned it in the morning and with only a few small adjustments its been solid. It has a very bright sound to it and the harmonics of the strings give it really full tone. Its easy to play thanks to the open tuning. It lends itself to blues along with its intended Cuban roots. I love the size too, the body is pretty big for the length again helping with the full tone. Got this guitar for my 10 year old daughter (her first guitar). Positives: It plays great, looks great, feels great (seems well built so far), and has a decent tone (not a ton of difference though between pickups but that's not a huge deal). For the price it is fantastic. Negatives: Every fret was sticking past the neck and some were razor sharp (I actually cut myself trying it out of the box). Pretty easy fix though with a file/sandpaper. There are online tutorials for how to do this. No need to take it into a shop IMO. The only other minor negative was the strings it came with. Could not stay in tune for even a few seconds. Highly suggest changing to something heavy like a 12-54 (I bought the D'addario XL nickels and they work great). Totally stays in tune now. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind doing some minor adjustments.David

Taishogoto uses wood as its main material to create a warm tone unique to the wood, but since it is a natural material, individual differences occur.
