I love this thing! Pairs well with my Taylor 110. The preamp is responsive, the boost is a nice touch, and the chorus and reverb are lush. Tap tempo delay is great. I will use this weekly for worship guitar at church. My only bone to pick was the power adapter was bad right out of the box. I had another so it worked out, but still. I play mandolin and guitar in the church band and I have long since found that going direct through the P.A. system is the most efficient and quickest way to get a fidelity acoustic tone into the mix. The great thing about the Trace Elliot is that it is a quality direct box with XLR outputs with quality effects. I love the simplicity of the controls which allows me to individually dial in the effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, and, since I often take solos, a dedicated boost stomp for the extra punch I need for taking the lead with distinction. I used to play Guitar Hero when I was a teen so it's cool to be able to play it with my kids, and now on the Wii! (Didn't have the Wii back then LOL.) The graphics are really good and overall it has definitely improved since the earlier versions. Tons of great song choices and fun for the whole family to play. Why I bought it… Because of the free GH: Van Halen offer. Had it not have had that I would have just waited until the price dropped To me the setlist is bad and I figured GH:Mix would do the same thing the others did. I didn't think it would be any better than Guitar Hero World Tour GH:WT and definitely not as good as GH Metallica GH:M. I was right, again the song list had the worst choice of songs with the exception of 3 Doors Down, Iron, Maiden, and Bon Jovi. As for the graphics there quite a bite better than any of the others. The create a rocker is almost the same as in the past. Lot's of custimazation but very few decent hair choices. The chothes all all the same, might and I stress might be 2 or 3 new peices. But overall same old same old.. The competitive games are ok if you can play someone as good as you are you will have a blast. But for me it still gets old fast. I haven't tried the online portion of the game so I will not judge how that is. GH Mix: I thought for sure GH:M's GH Mix would not be beat. I am supprised to say I am wrong, for the most part. They almost out did them themselves on this. There needs to be more Metal tones, it's only got 2 good ones. I think there are way too many clean and oddball tones. They removed too many Keyboard tones as well. Back to the guitar though if you have GH:WT or GH:M I am sure you know what happens when you do quick power cord changes, you get that choppy cut sound. That was the only thing I had against GH:M's GH Mix and figured this one would be no different. I am very happy to say I was wrong. I tried everything I could to make it mess up but failed epicly. It isn't without problems though. After watching some videos on youtube of other peoples songs and thought that you could have power chords and lead on one chart, which would have been really cool. Sadly another dissapointment, all you can do is activate other notes so it just looks like you played the power chord. So that is an all but useless feature. GHTunes… Is like grass that never gets mowed… It would be half way neat if 99% of it wasn't crap… All you find on there is immpossible this or to hard that… GHTunes should have a "Remove it" feature where if the song gets enough of those votes it should be permemently removed from GHTunes… That would save alot of space and let all the good ones be heard. And thats pretty much it for my review of Guitar Hero 5. Ill end it with an over all rating on some of the aspects. Scale is 1 to 5 with 5 as best. Presentation: 3 Reminds me a lot of the older Guitar Heroes. Some new game modes but thats it. Graphics: 4 Very good graphics easily there best. The fret boards suck though. Its the same thing for all characters unlike the older GHs which where different. Gameplay: 2 Same old, same old, play each song once which is okay with me 96% of the songs I could only stand to play once anyway but it is getting old, Rock Band is far better. Sound: 3 Its only getting a 3 from me because it has Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden and 3 Doors Down on it. You can also play the DLC from GH:WT. Other than that this setlist should be balled up thrown in a rocket and shot into the sun. Lasting Appeal: 2 For me it's an epic failure the only thing that will keep me playing which is once every other week is GH:Mix and DLC. If you like all of the songs then youll not get board. Guitar hero 5 is an average game from the GH series however it is a Lot better than others such as the most recent Worriors of rock. The game doesn't come close to tendon numbing games such as Metallica but does have a good selection of toe-tapper songs and maybe even get your head banging. The guitar is probably the best part of the bundle pack. It amay not look as cool as the Gibson or Worriors of Rock Axe guitar but unlike those guitars, it does come with the "neck slide" feature (same as the Metallica bundle) which I personaly think should come with all the guitars. It gives another dimension of game play and slightly more sense of realism and adds a bit more of a challenge for all ranges of gamers. All in all, I would recommend this game/bundle because of the above however if you don't already own one, I'd say get the Metallica bundle instead and find GH5 (second hand) to purchase on its own. It would probably work out a lot cheaper this way than if you were to buy Metallica seperately instead. There's great "battle" modes against some real guitaring legends. The songs are from a wide range of bands (mainly picked by Mettalica themselves) and are by far the best variety (and challenging) of all of the Guitar Hero games I've played so far.thatcherl

I've played guitar for over forty years and though I don't feel like I am learning anything from playing the game, I can see how someone new to playing guitar could surely benefit greatly from it. I would recommend this to someone who is serious about wanting to learn. The initial stages are kind of boring for those who already know how to pick or can find notes on the neck. Newcomers to guitar or bass (this version needed a $10 addon for bass), will welcome the slow pace and have a great feeling of accomplishment when they complete a song. The only gripe is that tacking on this game is greatly improved if the audio is sent directly to a receiver instead of through the TV's HDMI port. Great way to learn to play guitar or bass at your own pace. Of course you'll need your own guitar or bass, but this package is ready to go. You get lessons, arcade style games to help teach you technique, and of course the best part….songs to play along with! Not to mention there are tons of songs you can download from Ubisoft and expand your music collection, and they are reasonably priced. The songs provided are great, and they scale to your skill level so it doesn't have to be too hard or too easy, it will remember and scale to you! Of course you can always turn off the dynamic difficulty and crack up the toughness and try to see if you can keep up with the pros =) The game also has split-screen multiplayer, so you can play lead while a friend plays rhythm or bass. If your playing guitar hero you should be slapped. This is extremely challenging and fun. maybe not for the long time pro guitarist but it is an amazing game. probably shouldn't be classified as a game since it is more based on teaching you to play real guitars. there are games included that you play through your guitar to build specific skills. All of the game is fun but you have to get past the slow entry level plucking before you feel the music and start enjoying playing it. I purchased my ps3 just for rocksmith 14. then I got the original and added all the songs from it. then purchaced over 90 songs online. What a great sounding mini amp. I've had to use headphone mini amps for the last 15 years due to time constraints and location of practice area. I didn't want to use the precious practice time I had just to set up full size amp for only an hour or so and then return everything back to storage area. It was so much simpler and convenient just to plug a mini amp into my guitar, put on head set and play. Down side was always the quality of the mini amps I was using. I was getting them for around half of what a vox cost.. I always wanted a vox but they were expensive. After joining mf rewards club and making several purchases I bought my vox for about half price by applying my points to the purchase. I should have never waited. This vox is 10 times better than the cheaper brands. As soon as I opened the packaging and held it in my hand I could feel the quality. When I first plugged it in and started playing I got really upset. Not at the mini amp but at myself for waiting so long. I highly recommend buying this mini amp. Trust me. It's really worth it and you'll be glad you did.Horn

Cannot praise this device highly enough. It sounds great, and is ridiculously versatile for such a small device, comprising not only Gain, Tone and Volume controls, together with three levels each of effects options Chorus, Delay and Reverb, but also Clean, Crunch and Lead. Two AAA batteries are required (included), and give hours of usage. Just plug it into your guitar, attach headphones (decent pair of over-ear type are best, but don't need to be expensive) and, if wishing to practice over a track by your favourite band, simply attach an appropriate device such as a tablet or 'phone. If you require to free your amPlug2 sound from the confines of headphones, Vox also offer a mini, 2 watt, amPlug2 amp/speaker to which you attach your amPlug2 and play out loud (but not loud enough to annoy the neighbours. The wonderful Vox 50 watt amp/cab stack Mini Superbeetle Audio blue tooth speaker also doubles as a guitar amp, complete with amPlug2 compatibility, but at full volume, this would definitely annoy the next door neighbours, and possibly those further afield. The amPlug has given me new found freedom to play and practice without needing to wait for opportunities where it can be done without audibly intruding on the personal space of others in the household. I own several cigar box guitars – some I built – some I bought – usually fretted four strings that I mando tune. I wanted a three string for slide – I liked that this had a disk with a slide technique lesson. I was more than pleased – as an instrument, it's as good as most any CBG – they are all pretty crude at best. This one was easy to assemble – holds tune – sounds good acoustic or electric. There were some comments on it not using an actual cigar box, but a factory-made stylized resonator box. While this is true, it is at least as good as a cigar box, and I can understand why they broke that way for consistency and ease of build (which as I said, was super easy). Aesthetically, most people would probably prefer a real cigar box, but come on – it's like a uke – cheesy is part of the shtick. The lesson is good – play along CD and a book – comes with a good glass slide. I recommend it – worth the list price – all the better with the discounts.JoeFromSD

This is a great way to learn slide guitar. It is small & easy to learn. The book is full of great info. The CD is great, with back tracks, A tuning track so you do not need to buy a tuner, as long as you have something to play the CD in. It would be a good idea to buy a cheep tuner. As far as the price you just can't beat it. You can buy one for any wear from under $20.00 to $59.95. you just have to look around for a good price. Even at $30.00 to $ 40.00 is well worth it. The sound of the guitar very good and a small amp helps the sound but is not a must. Also you can take this any ware. In all this is a great product and was well thought out. I wanted a three string cigar box guitar and between a black friday discount and backstage pass points, I couldn't pass this up. Some reviewers complain that it's cardboard but domestic cigar boxes are predominantly cardboard. Also, Fender recently built a cardboard Strat that couldn't be told from a "real" Strat in a blind test. Build time was about ten minutes. I ran the strings around the tuners contrary to the directions so the string paths were straight. Sounds great acoustic and also great amplified. The only thing lacking is markers on the side of the neck. Maybe not sturdy enough for roughneck kids but a good introduction to the cigar box genre. Nice slide included.Mike

I preordered this on AMS without, obviously, trying it out. I had only seen some clips from NAMM, etc. I wanted a ‘noisemaker’ more than anything…a little secret weapon with another flavor on my board. It’s a lot of fun so far. It mentions that it’s not intended for chords like several times in the manual. But honestly, that’s where it gets cool & weird. Like, seriously science fiction stuff. Try it with an expression pedal! I have one for my EQD Avalanche Run so I tried it out on the Mono Synth for kicks and it opened up a whole new level. An excellent pedal. Cool synth sounds with a reasonable amount of variation for each. Not perfect. Being monophonic, some of the sounds require you to be very deliberate when playing as even a slight slurring of notes can cause the pedal to have a little mental breakdown. Overall excellent. I use this on a bass pedal board to add dimension playing in worship team. It is compact, bulletproof and has great tone. It comes with instructions and tips on how to use each tool. Icing on the cake is the countless videos on MusicNomad's YouTube channel that guide you through every step of the process. It may seem expensive compared to other products out there but you get what you pay for here and I would even consider it a bargain seeing how outstanding the quality of each tool is.
