Shaq Height – How Tall is Shaquille O’Neal?

How tall is Shaq? 7’1″ tall.

Shaquille Rashaun, popularly known as ‘Shaq’ by his fans and industry, is a retired American basketball player. He is a sports analyst on the television program Inside the NBA on TNT. He, therefore, is a significant figure in the sports industry.

‘Shaq’ is considered the greatest players in the National Basketball Association history thanks to his impeccable record when he was a basketballer. Such heights are shared by famous basketballers such as Michael Jordan. 

He was born on March 6th, 1972 in Newark, New Jersey. He, therefore, is of American origin. He is bulky weighing 325lbs which translates loosely to 147 kilograms beating other former professional footballers his age. 

Shaq rose into heights of being one of the best basketballers of all times when Orlando Magic drafted him with the first overall pick in the 1992 draft. This was his time at Louisiana State University. He did not disappoint.

In the league year 1992-1993, Shaq won Rookie of the Year because he was one of the best centers of in the whole league. He, therefore, rose into heights quite fast. He led his team into the 1995 NBA Finals being the best player at that time and moment.

He was with Orlando Magic for a whopping four years where he had an excellent stay and play. He then left for Los Angeles Lakers where he was signed as a free agent. He helped Lakers scale more significant heights than never before.

Lakers ranked first in three consecutive years, in 2000, 2001 and 2002.  There however rose tension between Kobe Bryant and Shaq and therefore he was traded to the Miami Heat in 2004. His fourth NBA championship followed later, a couple of years, 2006.

He did not stay there as much since, amid the 2007-2008 season, he was traded to Phoenix Suns. He remained in the team for around one and a half years after which he left to Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2009-2010 season.

He then played for the Boston Celtic before retiring. This was in the 2010-2011 season. 

Shaq’s Accolades 

Shaq has several accolades to his name. This is one of the reasons why he is considered one of the best footballers in history. His accolades kicked in in 1990 when he clinched the Most Valuable Player Award.

In 1992-1993, he won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award has just moved into the Orlando Magic. He then has  15 All-Star game selections, three All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Awards, two scoring titles, 14 All-NBA team selections, and three NBA All-Defensive Team selections.

Shaq also maintains his height as one of the only three players to win NBA Most Valuable Player, All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, and Finals Most Valuable Player Awards in the year 2000. The other only players are Willis Reed in 1790 and Michael Jordan in 1996 and 1998.

Another height he has managed to clinch is coming eighth in point scores all-time, 6th in field goals, 15th in rebounds and 9th in blocks. What a man! What a champ!

Shaq was blessed with an immense ability when it comes to dunking, thanks to his height, and therefore he ranks third all-time in field goal percentage at 58.2%. He rose to the heights of being in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016 when he was elected. 

In 2017, Shaq outdid himself when he was elected into the FIBA Hall of Fame in the year 2017. 

Shaquille O’Neal’s Music

Shaq is not just a basketballer. No. he is somebody you would consider a jack of all trades. He boasts of four rap albums with his first being, Shaq Diesel’ going worldwide. He is not only a rapper, but he also occupies several heights and ranks in the music industry.

With that being said, Shaq is an electronic music producer and a touring disc jockey going by the name DIESEL. He has as well marked his heights in the film industry having featured in numerous films. He also has had his reality shows, Shaqs Big Challenge, and Shaq Vs.  

This is ranks and heights that Shaq has risen to in the almost three decades of his career. This is marvelous. Shaq is thus an all-rounder featuring in both sport, film, news and theatre industry. He also hosts The Big Podcast with Shaq, a famous show.

Even away from music, Shaq has also set heights in the managerial world being the general manager of  Kings Guard Gaming of the NBA 2K League.

Career Heights

Shaq’s team career began in the 1994 FIBA world championship where he was named and given the award for Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. He then led the Dream Team II to the gold medal with an 8.0 record.

He averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds thanks to his height and also recorded two double-doubles. Therefore in four games, Shaq singlehandedly scored more than twenty [points scaling new heights and records.

Another height that Shaq managed to scale to during his time is being one of the two players from the 1994 roster to be named to the Dream Team III. This is a position that he holds alongside Reggie Miller, also one of the kings of basketball.

He had more star-power, and therefore he played alongside Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson starting a total of three games. This saw him average 9.3 points and have 5.3 rebounds with a whooping eight blocks.

He managed to clinch another 8-0 record label which saw him clinch another game medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. 

This, however, changed him to some extent since after the Olympics, he vowed not to ever play again in any other international competition. He felt disrespected by the 1999 FIBA Americup squad. 

Shaq’s Height

His height and talent are considered the main factors that saw him become one of the greatest footballers of all times. This as well saw him become one of the most dominant and imposing centers in the history of the NBA.  

He quickly dominated the pitch thanks to his 7’1″ statute. This helped him put together a 19-season career which made him clinch four NBA championships.
