Holding An Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

I ordered one, liked it so much, I ordered two more. For my needs this worked perfectly for my classical, as well as my 12-string and 6-striing acoustic guitars. I like the weight and the balance of this stand. The padding that touches the instrument surface, I feel, is quite adequate. Had also hoped to "kill two birds" by using one as a tabletop music holder; it seems to do the job, in my case only by placing a ruler along either the top front of the stand (behind the book), and possibly other methods I haven't tried yet. Am used to standard guitar stands, so if I had small kids or pets of concern I Might be a little more cautious with type of stand, though, as with any free-standing instrument.Pat

I've always been happy with ChromaCast products in general. A decent product at a fair price. I've bought several different ChromaCast products they have always been a consistant quality and beat comparably priced items I have tried in the past.Soundman

Not the best stand I have, but for the low cost, you simply can't beat it. The build quality is excellent, and the welds (a common quality concern) are exceptional on this product. I've used this for stage and home use, and it's very solid. In fact it's sturdy enough to hold a five and four string jazz bass at the same time. This makes for an incredibly small footprint on small stages or tight rehearsal spaces. It folds for storage, with the only issue being the arms that hold the guitars don't fold, or cannot be taken off for even a smaller load. Regardless, this stand is such a deal for the price, it's hard to find any flaws. Due to space, this is the only stand I'm using at my home right now, and it's holding a 1400.00 bass. This little folding Hercules stand is a great little piece of kit for when you need to travel light. It's surprisingly stable fits easily into a gig bag pocket or even a coat pocket. The clever little push down supports allow you to use it for both solid bodied or acoustic guitars. It works really well for studio or home use. I don't know if I'd put so much faith in it on a busy stage with clumsy or pumped up musos on the rampage but otherwise, it's just fine.6stringnick

A great little stand that I can easily fit into my gig bag thereby helping me to reduce still further the weight load of what I take to gigs. The name of the game for me these days is to travel as light as is possible and practicable and this is a further step in that direction. And it does the job perfectly. As an aside, I bought a Lakland Skyline 44-02 from GUITARGUITAR around 12 months ago. Value for money and well built guitar stand. Well designed and easy to transport and use. Too many people have their guitars damaged because they have leaned their guitars against tables or chairs, this solves that problem. I have used many types of guitar stands, all with advantages and disadvantages. This stand is one of my favourites, it's biggest strength is portability and cost. Bought 2 of these when they were the Stupid Deal of the Day. I figured even if they were a little flimsy, they would do an adequate job of holding three guitars in my studio or living room, or maybe even serve for a gig. I am very disappointed in this product. As stated in other customer reviews, no matter what guitars you put on the stands, the headstocks will touch. There is no simple adjustment you can make to the stand to avoid this. If you have the right sized guitars, you may be able to angle them just so to avoid touching, but this level of thought should not be necessary for such a critical piece of kit. It's clunky, poorly designed, and wobbly: the little rubber arm that prevents your guitar from falling out is, sadly, a necessary precaution when leaving your guitar in the stand. At this price point (yes, I mean cheap), I guess it's meant to be disposable. I recommend spending more and getting a Hercules or something more reliable and worthy of your instruments. This last recommendation should also be applied when considering the purchase of any Musician's Gear product.Chordtone

I purchased one of these previously and it was fine. My second unit had the vertical bar mounted to the base so crooked that would nearly fall over backward when a guitar was placed on it. Customer service was super friendly and helpful and sent me another unit at no cost. Unfortunately the replacement was almost as bad, with the vertical bar now leaning to the left. At this point I just gave up. Some say "you get what you pay for" but I would expect any item sold to at the very least fulfill it's primary function to some degree, but these don't. Again, Musicians Friend has good customer service, but this stand is not usable.Clint

Once setting this up out of the box, an issue was obvious. Apparently when this was constructed and welded/soldered at the factory, the connection of the vertical section to the tripod base was done so crookedly, and leaning to one side. there was no way to correct this as it's either soldered or welded at the bottom section, and I wouldn't trust a guitar on this stand. This was a few bucks cheaper than the Chromecast brand so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately even at $10, it was a waste of time needing to process a return/refund. Overall the product is great. Collapses easily for transport to a gig or rehearsal. Issue I had was the yoke size. I have a hollow body electric bass almost 3" thick so ordered the acoustic version of this product first. But the yoke was too wide and the guitar tipped back and was unstable. I read that this electric guitar version would hold guitars up to 3.5" thick so bought it, but my guitar did not fit. I was able to bend the prongs back in my vise so my guitar now just fits. So be aware of your guitar width.Craig

Fits perfectly after fitting some extra padding to the pegs at the front. But impressed with the compact and solid design none of the less. Would recommend after appling some simple and cheap cotton wraps.Richard G.

What can I say – it's a guitar stand. Bought for small size, so I can tuck guitar away in the cornet of a room, tempting me to pick it up an play, rather than put it away in a case. This one is in Eb. I hope to get an Ab version one day.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I liked the old Quik Lok stands better, but they changed their design so it's far less functional now. In light of that, I opted for this more expensive stand that works well for Strats, but anything with squared off sides will sit on just 4 contact points. That's enough to hold the guitar securely, but only time will tell wether or not it will affect the finish at those points.JDBlues

I bought this for my Epiphone G-1275 double neck. Sturdy and 3-click adjustable for the extra width of the double neck body. As far as my single neck guitars being secure though, I prefer the "hanging" guitar stands like the Ultimate Support GS-100 Genesis. You can't fasten a guitar neck "seat belt" on this one.John

The stand is portable and easily fits into an equiipment gig bag; this is the main reason I purchased it. I own to others I use on stage, and this one serves as a backup stand as well as one I use when I travel for practice sessions. It provides decent support to guitars and basses, thought it's not as supportive as taller stands can be, especially those that hold the headstock and neck in place.zippystooge

I was successful at bending the padded support arms to fit a tenor ukulele. Not a perfect solution, but for casual use this foldable stand is light and easily transportable. There is virtually nothing that can be manually adjusted to fit, unless you are willing to take a little risk by physically deforming the original configuration. There is no case, and as such it is not a good candidate to travel in anything but an equipment bag or box. So far, the construction of the stand is in line with what I thought I was getting for my money. I can make it work, but time will tell if it will hold up.Wiley

Like the title indicates, I have been using these stands for 24 years. My recent purchase was to replace one that finally failed (the screw stripped). I am a solo musician, I play 3 and 4 hour gigs almost every day during the tourist season. I main instrument is a Fender Stratocaster but I have Acoustic guitars and use the acoustic stands as well. I have also placed my bass guitars on the electric guitar stand as well. I love that I can put the stand in the guitar case. I see many of my fellow entertainers carry these bulky, awkward stands that have to be carried separately. I highly recommend this product to any performer that needs to carry equipment to every gig.JT

These are budget music stands and you get what you pay for. They work fine, but the metal work is poor quality (jagged part that sticks out on the back, difficult to get the supporting piece through the vertical piece). The biggest concern is the flimsy box this was sent in. Three boxes that weren't meant for shipping were taped together and smashed in transit, so two of the six knobs were missing on arrival and the seller isn't responding to my refund request.Joe

This is my 22nd. Chromacast Gitfiddle stand. Hold all my 11 Bass guitars. 8 six string gutars. 1 twelve string. 1 Banjitar. All sit safely look at me daily. Winking at my ….play with me today. easy to assemble. best packing in all 21 times before. quick safe delivery. This one is for 1969 Kustom K-200 Bass guitar. Called Naugie Hyde. After material my 1966/2021 Kustom Silver sparkle( naugahyde) Bass amp. Stands used to be easy to find and lots of deals but not any more. Also paid the most for this stand. I give this bag only 3 stars because unless Gator upgraded the bag or is making it in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase. I bought one of these for a Sterling by Music Man bass as I was under the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). As the photos indicate, this bag will work for a Fender P Bass, but the Fender FB620 is a better bag for that and other Fender bass guitars while presently costing 10 less than the Gator while offering better protection and features. The Gator GB-4G seems to be more of a universal fit bag accommodating a wider range of sizes. The thing it seemed to have going for it the most was its zipper which seemed heavy duty. I say "seemed" because I returned the bass and so the bag as well.Vice

I bought a used guitar for back porch jamming. Needed a gig bag that didn't cost more than the guitar ,but would keep it safe and clean. Stopped at Sam ash because I was certain they had a variety of gig bags. Not my first visit or purchase.The Gator gig bag I chose is the economy for dreadnought guitars by Gator. Great price for my budget and well made. This bag is perfect for my needs. Easy carry and my guitar is covered.Just enough padding in all the right places for my guitar. I'm giving this bag only 3 stars on account of the price increase; for it used to cost about 4-5 less than the Fender FE620 but now costs about 10 more than? Unless it has improved features or is being made in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase as the FE620 gig bag provides better protection and features (for Strat size guitars anyway). I purchased one in May 2021 and only because as I was of the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). I should have sized things up beforehand since the Sterling by Music Man Cutlass I bought the bag for is essentially a slightly shorter, slightly sleeker version of a Strat (for which the FE620 was made). The best thing the Gator bag seemed to have going for it was the zipper which seemed rather heavy duty while mesh pockets on the front of a gig bag aren't particularly practical while being subject to tearing/ripping. As you can see by the photos, there's too much room in the bag for a Strat size guitar (though one might be able to insert the headstock into the bag's internal top pocket to prevent the guitar from sliding around too much in the bag). The Gator GB-4G ELEC Series Gig Bag is more of a universal fit bag better suited for guitars longer and/or wider than a Strat.Vice

Would not recommend this stand for instruments that are fairly heavy. I have an older G&L L-2000 bass which has a pretty heavy ash body, and this bass managed to have both stands collapse and destroy the latching mechanism in a matter of months. I have an old Ultimate Support Keyboard stand which has lasted for decades without any issues, so these guitar/bass stands are a real disappointment. Ultimate Support, you need to change your design on this particular stand and beef up the components to withstand normal use!bass player

Over all the product is good. It doe hold the guitar securely. Only it is a bit too secure. The neck of the guita sticks to the rubber causing the top of the stand to bend up forcing you to use both hands to get the guitar out. This is fine if you are practicing but in a live situation, when rushed, it could disastrous.John

I like this stand more than the regular floor stand because this does not put any pressure on my plugs and cords. The bottom of the guitar doesn't touch the stand. The large footprint adds stability, which is great, but it takes up a whole bunch of floor space! My only real concern about this stand is how durable the padding on the neck support is; will it last very long? It seems a bit thin, and moves around when I place my bass in it. The support itself is sturdy and will hold the instrument with no problems. Overall, I am happy with this stand and will be using it as my primary since I do have the space for it.Craig O.

I picked these up from a DotD specifically for a Fender Meteora style guitar, which won't sit so nicely in regular stands due to its shape. I also wanted a good yoke, as a few of my super cheap stands had hard, protruding bits that left small dents in one of my guitar necks. This satisfied both needs. That said, you're likely weighing between a Hercules and this Fender stand. I'd say spend a little more and pick up the Hercs on a DotD. I picked a pair of Hercs up on a later DotD, and the clutch is much, much better on the Herc than the Fender's simple lever. The Herc has indentations in the support that allows the clutch to lock. The Fender is fine for lighter guitars, but can loosen up and drop if too much downward force is put on the yoke support. I had this happen once so far, and have moved my heavier guitars to the Hercs. I would not recommend this for a heavy bass guitar. All of that said! It's a nice stand, and does its job. I don't regret picking it up.Diffracted

I have similar stands from another company which are a slightly different design. The other stands are slightly more compact, since the yoke folds over the top of stand and lays flat against the rise shaft. That is the ONLY thing better about the other stands. The other stands were more expensive, have just as much plastic in the manufacturing, and were less stable due the fold-down locking leg design. Worst of all the other stands have the awful "locking" yoke, which folds tabs down on either side of the neck/headstock joint, at least until they break (which one of mine has). I don't understand the need for this locking yoke device. If the stand gets knocked hard enough to tip, as soon as the body of the guitar hits the floor, the yoke is going to release anyway and the guitar is going to fall out of it, right? Maybe I'm not seeing the purpose of that yoke, but it just seems like another point of failure to me. These Fender stands were an incredible bargain on the SDOTD. I wish I could fold them a little smaller for transport, but that would probably undermine the great stability they have, so I'll accept the very slight lack of portability in favor of the security and confidence they give. The yoke is stationary, welded to the rise shaft. It's slightly narrow, so I have to start the guitar into the yoke at an angle, then rotate it into position. This just adds to the stability, so no big deal once you get in the habit. If you try to pull the guitar straight out of the stand, it will pull the stand toward you along with the guitar. Once again, not a big deal if you simply remember to twist-then-pull. The only other issue may be the base mechanism's screw/handle, which holds the legs in the spread position. The screw is threaded through the red plastic piece which holds the legs. Only time will tell if this design will hold up to regular use, and is my only real concern with these stands. Not worthy of a star deduction yet, but we'll see…Steve-O

This is my third Hercules stand. I really like them because they’re made with high quality materials, well put together and do the job perfectly. This one takes 3 guitars and holds them securely. The stand is well balanced with any combination of guitars, is easy to set up, dismantle and use and it looks good too.Keith H.

I've used one of these before, when a former bandmate of mine had it on stage and let me use one of the holders. I finally bought one for myself, and have only used it at one gig so far. Overall, I'm satisfied with it. However, it seems like it requires some TLC, as the pivoting arms are plastic and feel like they might be a bit on the fragile side. Packing it up also calls for extra care; I transport mine in the box it came in (which includes a handle) because having all my other gear bumping into those plastic arms seems like a bad idea. On the plus side, it does what you want: holds instruments on stage without falling over, and allows you to quickly change instruments. I put a mandolin and a guitar on it. It comes with a pair of cylindrical foam attachments that narrow the holder for smaller instruments like mandolin, and those worked great.Steve D.

Overall: I live in a large city and it is still impossible to find a Gibson 335 that plays and sounds great, has no issues or questionable history and comes with a price tag lower than a new one to justify the gamble. As a result, I decided to pull the trigger on a new one and went for the figured, not so much for the flame but for the lower weight and select wood, knowing both my back would thank me and that the guitar would probably be a bit more open and resonant. Block inlays are certainly nice and that may have helped sway my decision too. The 335 arrived with an impeccable setup, right out of the box from the factory. In my 35 years of playing, I’ve never had this happen. I’ve heard of it happening but never to me. I always have to tweak the truss rod to straighten the neck a bit, adjust the bridge action, widen the nut slots and intimate the guitar. Every time. The only adjustment I’ve had to make is lower the pickups a bit for balance, that’s it! Plays like an absolute dream. Here is why you want this guitar rather than a used one—. the neck. None of that weird pencil thin 335 necks from the past or those horrible and slow baseball bat necks… this is perfect. I don’t know what Gibson is doing in Nashville now, but they are making these guitars better than they ever have. Having always been a fan of Classic ‘57 pickups, I read about these T Type pickups being bright. It is true that they are bright, however it works so well in this guitar. Roll back the tone knobs for the mellower and darker sounds, especially when in the neck position for a classic straight-ahead jazz sound, or rolled back in the bridge to fatten up rhythms…but the thing is, roll the tone up for that beautiful bite and thunk in single line solos. I have had bright guitars in the past and there is nothing you can do for them. No matter the pickups or amp, it remains bright and pingy. This is not a bright guitar and has such a beautifully balanced and mellow acoustic voice, the pickups suit it well and I will not replace them. Is it an insane amount of money? Yes. It is. In 10 years when I have blown through $4K many times over and have nothing to show for it, will I still have this 335? Yes. I will. It’s an investment and zZounds makes it possible for someone like me to have something nice. This is an absolutely breathtaking guitar. In playability, sound, and appearance—Gibson is on top of their game these days and I think the future will look back at this era as their new golden age.Michael

Upon opening the case, the case was hard to open, like it didn't fit top cover to bottom cover. The guitar smells of cheap carnauba wax (if you wax your own car you know there are great waxes that smell good) this is not the great smell of the past Gibson guitars I have purchased in the past. There was a light haze to the guitar like the wax was dried but not wiped off completely. The was not common of years pasts Gibson's. Its a very light weight guitar. Nice to hold and even sitting with it to play does not dig into the underarm like a thick acoustic does over time. The ice tea version does look great front to back. I can't tell if it's AAA but its very nice. The head stock look s like it wasn't cut symmetrically compared to the other side or sanded to much. The neck is nice and thick and wider top to bottom which I like for fitting all my fingers on the 1-5 frets for chords. Their is a lot of fret buzz on the G string throughout the range of the neck, It looks like the G string is higher than all the other strings in an attempt to reduce the buzz. I thought these were machine prepped ?? I can most likely (hopefully)make some adjustments for this. The frets feel thinner than my Les Paul's. Not sure if I like this but I can get used to it. The sound on a clean channel is great. I really like the sound. The volume knobs have no volume from 0 – almost 2, they don't change the volume a lot from 3-7, from 8-10 is almost all the volume change. I have never had this experience before. The tone knobs actually lowers the volume from 1-3 which I thought is also strange. I have no experience with a ES model so maybe this is normal. If it is, then I am not sure I would have purchased. I don't regret the purchase but I was expecting perfection for this price.Just Me

I love 335 but played several that I found meh. Preferred the Heritage H-535 I bought to most Gibbies I tried. Until I played that one at my local GC store. Was immediately captivated with the tone. Went back several times, and took the plunge despite the sticker shock. At home, in my amp it sounded even better than in the shop. Absolutely wonderful guitar, that feels and sounds as good and sometimes even better than vintage 60s 335 I tried or owned. I am in love! But what a price tag…Gibson CS is becoming unattainable fast.Stéphane

Attractive and seems sturdy so far. Holds my guitars in a nice array that makes me proud of them and keeps them visible and accessible so I always get excited to play. I'm able to fit three electrics, a full sized acoustic, and a mini acoustic all on there at once – barely! The downside: manufacturing defects made it very difficult to assemble. Welding flaws in the tubing made it so the tubes couldn't slide together. I had to use hammer and pliers to whack the tubes together and twist them into position. Ultimately, now that it's built I'm happy with it, but be aware you may need to get creative to put it together.STEVEN

This was a great purchase. After reading reviews of "cheaper" versions of multi-guitar stands I decided to spend the extra $ for the Fender rack. After assembling the rack (< 10 minutes) I easily put five guitars in the available space ( a Les Paul, two Strats, a Dean Acoustic, and a Regal Resonator). It's a close fit but taking 3 extra seconds to pick up or put back a $800 guitar isn't too big of a deal. The rack works as advertised, is super light to carry, folds up when needed, and looks great. The only quibble I have is one small piece of black foam rubber was torn when I got it and I wrapped a piece if black electrical tape around it.Jim

If you have anything more than toy inflatable guitars, this thing will not hold more than two. You'd be lucky with that. The instructions say not to tighten things so much the rack isn't able to fold. But that's a useless direction because you can't possibly tighten things that tight. I tightened everything as tight as possible and put an acoustic and a hollowbody on and it just tilted backwards. If you put this up against a wall, your guitars will end up being supported by the headstock, not the rack. Absolutely horrible product.Brogan T.

I wanted a way of storing multiple guitars, and I've run out of wall space. I can't imagine anything else managing to do the job as well as this. Very simple and effective. Quality is as good as you need and much better than expected. Note, if you have jumbo/dreadnought acoustics, count on a maximum of 4 guitars, 8 guitars if all electric, say 6 for a mixture. Easy to erect, easy to fold away into a large but shallow case. Stands on the floor self supporting, footprint approx 4' x 2'. Height approx 2' (+ protruding fretboards). Can't see any downsides. You get what you pay for and this is the least expensive one out there for this size. It seems sturdy and functional enough for a weekend warrior, not for actual touring though. When it arrive the glue had already failed around all the trim all the way around. It is just cosmetic and does not affect the functionality, but disappointing and annoying. I used super glue to reattach the trim all the way around both ends. I do like the latching system when open. And FYI, the separators in the bottom just lay there, no velcro or anything. This is neither bad nor good…. just preference.Brix

I'm extremely pleased with this stand. Guitars are held in a position where no need to worry about falling. Set-up was pretty straight-forward and easy. I am definitely pleased with this purchase. B&H Photo had the very best price on it, also. I did have to wait to receive it as it was on backorder, but B&H photo upgraded to 2 day shipping at no extra cost to me when they recieved more of these. I don't know that I will ever need another as this is solidly built, but if so, will definitely order from B&H again.Axman36

Looks like this is a relativley new product so here's my review. I was looking for a stand for my new Les Paul and wanted on that was stable and secure as I have toddlers in the home. This stand has a great fit and finish, came packaged very well, no knicks or scratches. It's compact but locks my guitar in securely. All contact points are covered with a finish friendly foam. Cables fit while guitar is in the stand and I can pick the guitar up and move it around while locked in the stand. Very nice product and highly recommend for the price.Jay

It's a great idea. A silent guitar that doesn't disturb people. Once it was set up on my Samsung tablet Tab S4 (the latest), it was fine. BUT, and it's a BIG BUT, you can't use it until you have upgraded the firmware when you purchase it. It won't upgrade the firmware on an Android machine. And as I don't have a Windows PC any more, I had to hit the helpline.after 15 emails, and 3 days, I finally gave up, and used my daughter's iPad to update the Jamstik. So, bare in mind if you are an Android user. Think carefully.rolfman2000

I want to get better at playing the guitar and YouTube videos have been helpful, but I wanted something more without having to schedule and pay for a lot of lessons. So, when I came across this Electric Guitar Trainer, I thought I would give it a try. I love it! It is really easy to use, and one of my favorite features is its ability to sync up with multiple devices. I can practice using the app on my phone in the morning and pick up again in the spot that I stopped at later in the day using my computer. It has made my learning experience a lot more fun!Brooke

Okay this product is good. The pickup is fine and it's a great amount of fun. BUT: The fret work is terrible. Really. They stick out of the neck, and it feels like playing with sandpaper on your fingers. Terrible rash after half an hour of playing, still has not worn off. Also the action is really bad and the second fret is buzzing like crazy on mine. I need to get that fixed, but I hoped to get it working right off the box as I am travelling a lot and don't have time to take care of my guitars (which is why I took this one). Overall if the item and the object is really fun and smart and cool (you really get that "cool" factor when playing live and people notice and start laughing at your baby-sized guitar. Also includes a "cute" factor for those who are into that.) But the quality is really poor and needs quite a bit of work to be really useful without cutting your hand. Also a mild annoyance, but the headstock is not blue. I selected this one because the picture showed a blue headstock and it looked cooler than the black one. I got the black one. Minor annoyance, still an annoyance. I would not make this choice again I think, or be prepared to go to the guitar store and invest an additional 100 dollars in fret work and proper setting.pauwohre_0

I purchased this guitar a few years ago and it is my go-to ever since whether I am at home or while traveling. I have rather small hands and not very good stretch so it makes playing my other guitars rather painful after an extended period of time. I like playing this guitar because even though it has a full scale fretboard, everything just feels smaller in my hands when I play it. The width of the neck is smaller than my other guitars makes it easier for me to reach and my hands don't get as fatigued as easily. The sound is great! I only play for fun and have a small 100W amp but it sounds excellent no matter whether I'm playing metal or jazz. The only problem I have with it is there is a little bit of fret buzz when I am playing certain notes. It is not really a problem with the instrument itself. I ordered this by mail and never had it set up after it arrived. I am not comfortable doing it myself so I will have to take it into the store whenever I get the chance. I am sure that once I get it adjusted properly, I will have no problems with it. I love this little beast.Sordesco

A solid four stars. Travel guitars all have their limitations and this one is certainly no exception. But despite those limitations this instrument fulfilled its needs on a recent trip. Which is why I waited to write this review until after it was used for its intended function. It's size and weight were convenient for traveling through airports and overhead bins. It was durable despite being mashed by other carry on luggage. It was fun to play through Vox classic rock plug in amp with ear buds but difficult to stay in tune. Also used a basic leather strap with rough suede to compensate for awkward weight distribution. This kept the strap from sliding in that the guitar is neck heavy. All travel guitars like the Traveler series suffer the same malady. The Neck is straight as an arrow and the action is very good. Haven't changed the strings yet but the stop tailpiece is adjacent to the pickup which may make string changes difficult. All in all, I would not gig with this guitar but for the money it served its purpose preparing for a gig upon my return. A good value overall with some limitations.Rockinvet
