1. Hofner Ct Series Shorty Mini Electric Guitar Red
Product Details:
A used but in very good condition (it's still got the peel-back polythene on the scratchplate) hofner shorty travel/mini guitar in red. suitable for travel but also worth consideration as a first electric guitar for a child because unlike many small electrics the shorty has good tuning stability. the hofner shorty offers full scale length (24.7'') combined with such small overall dimensions that it can be taken anywhere. it will fit in the overhead locker of most aircraft for example. it's armed with a hofner open humbucker and sounds brilliant through an amp plug via headphones or through an actual amp. includes hofner gigbag.

Reviews:
Just took delivery of a used Hofner shorty bass in black. Lovely instrument. Fit and finish was fine. I had to do a little bit of intonation setting which took no time. The neck is better than expected. Frets are finished properly and the neck has a nice satin finish. Its not to wide, not too thick and feels great. The pickup delivers and even sound across the strings. There are no dead spots. Volume and tone controls work great and the knurled knobs feel very good. I was able to dial in some of my preferred sounds using the VPF control on my Markbass Blackline 250 going through a Markbass NY604 cabinet. I was also liking the sounds going through an Eden World Tour preamp. Im looking forward to rehearsal tomorrow using the Eden directly into an EV ZLX 12 powered cabinet. The bass came professionally packed and really appeared to be new. Love the padded Hofner gig bad with the logo on it. All in all a great small, inexpensive (but not cheap) bass for practice, performance and especially travel.Miguel404
First of all, this bass is just what I wanted for practicing when traveling. Compact, 24 frets, decent electronics and comes with a gig bag. Intonation was pretty good too. I did adjust the intonation, but that's really only because I'm kind of fussy about intonation. One thing I will say is I had never experienced "neck dive" until I owned this bass like. in the resting position, the bass headstock will point right down to 5 o'clock. Since this is a practice instrument, I made some modifications. I put weight in the body cavity, but the body cavity is not huge, so with extra weight, I could get the neck to hang in the resting position at about 3 o'clock. I next removed the front strap pin and drilled a 3/8" in diameter hole 2" into the body at the same angle as the strap pin screw. I purchased 3/8" aluminum round stock and cut it to 7.5". 2" would insert into the body and 5.5" would remain outside to mount the strap button while extending out to nearly the 12th fret. I painted the round stock black (primer and paint). I mounted (drilled and epoxied) the strap button on the end of the round stock. I think epoxied the extender into the body. It looks pretty darned good and now the bass balances perfectly.Kevin1014
I have to say I’m so impressed with my new Hofner Shorty ct Bass. I’m used to gigging for years with Monster weighted P basses so the Shorty is such a relief. …. Like Air. Because body is so small it does allow this neck dip everyone cites but with a strap and playing on stage it’s not a problem. The quality and finish is flawless and was Lucy to get a Rosewood neck on mine not one of those horrible Jotoba Cites ones (Though fully understand we have to save planet somehow). The guitar sounds like any Bass circa £300-£500 bass and means you can leave your Musicman and Fenders at home in Studio. Great for touring Bassists who just want easy gigging experience. Well done Hofner!

I’ve been waiting for the comets to be released I am also a product of Kalamazoo and was looking for a semi hollow. The pictures don’t do these justice. The guitar is double bound and is a glossy metallic dark blue. It fades and looks flat in pictures for some reason. Plus you get coil splitting and locking tuners. It arrived with a suitably low action and was ready to go out of the box. Has a classic look but modern profile — looking forward to playing this for yearsThomas E.
This is, hands down, the best guitar you will find at this price point. This would be a great guitar at $3,000. These are made by Heritage, in Kalamazoo and they are spectacular. Carved mahogany top, nitro finish, stellar quality all around. When you consider there are guitars made under contract for once great American brands in Asia that cost as much as this American made guitar, made in the old Gibson factory, you would be insane not to give one of these a try. Pickups are amazing, from screaming rock and blues to mellow jazz, this guitar is a total sleeper punching way above its weight. Plus, it comes in a $200 padded gig bag, not a cardboard box. Cannot find a single flaw and cannot put it down. I wish I had 4 hands so I could give this four thumbs up. That good. Get one.Mike
Overall: Couldn’t be happier. Made by Heritage in the iconic old Gibson factory. Nitro. Set neck. All mahogany. Etc… It feels “old”.Best out of the box setup I’ve probably ever experienced. Straight neck. Zero buzz. Intonation was spot on. Excellent fretwork. The pickups are spectacular. Are they true gold foils? I can’t say. (I’ve read they’re Alnico III magnets, as opposed to the rubber ceramics that old gold foils utilized.)These pickups come across as a really great PAF style, so the gold foil is perhaps just an aesthetic. They react to the use of your volume/tone controls beautifully. From jazzy cleans to high gain, they excel at everything I’ve thrown at it.Combine everything with a nice Mono gig bag, and you have the best bang for the buck out there, in my opinion.

Reviews:
This guitar is a lot of fun, Mine is well made, enjoyable to play and has a personality all it's own. I was always kind of a fan of certain Harmony models from the fifties and sixties but the new Harmony instruments (apparently still American made) seem to be really well made with quality components and features. I'm really enjoying the clean sound of the neck pickup. Read the specs and you'll see it's pretty basic and you'll probably be adjusting your tone with the amp's controls some of the time but I'm okay with that. It's a fun guitar and I'm glad I got it.Ken
4. Mitchell Mm100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar Walnut Stain
Product Details:
The mitchell mm100 features a short-scale, double-cutaway basswood body and a maple neck with smooth fretboard. it comes complete with two high-output ceramic humbucker pickups that crank out enough juice for a guitar twice its size. high-ratio tuners allow for precise tuning control, while the traditional, adjustable tom-style bridge provides solid intonation. plus, the mm100s string-through body design gives it plenty of sustain and bite.all mitchell electric guitars receive a complete stateside setup and quality control inspection to ensure exceptional playability. available in walnut satin (ws), black (bk) and blood red (br). case sold separately.
Reviews:
It's an itty bitty little thing. It's so lightweight it almost floats away! It was perfectly set up out of the box, it arrived with no damage. First, I tuned it. (It was close, whoever set it up musta tuned it before shipping). It's got very accurate tuning pegs, not like a Squier or Glarry, with slack in the pegs. Then I sat down and ran through some scales, and strummed some chords. It's got a fast playing neck. I can play faster on this guitar, than any I've tried, and I've played hundreds of guitars from an American Fender 52 reissue Telecaster, down to the terrible cheap electric guitars of the 1960s. Anyway, I finally got around to plugging into my Blackstar Fly 3 battery amp, and wow those Mitchell humbuckers are HOT! I love this little thing, it's going to be my main axe, and I'm going to order it a new hard shell case, so it stays looking great. The Volkswagen Cowboy
For the most part; this a pretty nice beginner's guitar. It has nice features that aren't usually found on cheaper guitars. I was very impressed with the body contours, pickup arrangement, sealed tuners, & string through body. I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son. I paid a little extra for expedited shipping & it arrived less than 48hrs after I ordered it! Everything was great until I tuned up the guitar & found that the claims that "every guitar receives a stateside set up" are entirely false. The ends of the fret wire are extremely sharp; there's no way that I'd let a child attempt to play this without first filing down/ dressing the frets to avoid gouging your hands. It seems to stay in tune fairly well; which is rather surprising as the neck is NOT properly bolted to the guitar body. There is a relatively large gap between the neck & body- large enough to see daylight! The gap is likely due to common machine assembly w/ poor quality control. I'm somewhat excited to see how well this guitar will play after I disassemble the neck, drill the body holes 1/16" larger, file the frets, & reassemble w/ some higher quality strings. Even with the additional work that's necessary; it's still a rather nice guitar & definitely cheaper than a project guitar. Last time I checked; it was around $20 or so to have a guitar set up by a Luthier- so it still works out to be a decent buy if you bought it & paid to have it set up. I'm just rather disappointed that the only problem with the entire transaction is a very simple issue that could be avoided w/ a couple tweaks of the CNC machines spitting these out by the 100's…Jonathan
I am quite fond of short scale guitars, and I rate this one quite high on the list of must haves! Frets are adequately dress, it is quite light, finish (walnut satin) is excellent. Playability is quite good, intonation is spot on, even the pickups are ok, though I did change them out on mine, along with putting some shielding paint in the pickup and control cavities and swapping out the potentiometers (none of this was necessary, but you know how us guitarists can be!). The kind of music I like is 70s rock, 80s and 90s metal, I don't play clean much – always some grit coming outta the amp! I got this on sale, so it was well below $100. Not sure what else to say, but if you are on the fence about getting one of these, either for yourself or a young, aspiring rocker, just pull the trigger, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Main thing to keep in mind on this is playability and setup are very good for a guitar in its price point even at full price, maybe even twice the price. Is it perfect? No, but it doesn't need to be, just needs to be good and it is. Just get the darn thing. it's a fun guitar to play, looks and sounds good as well.Scott
5. Harmony Mini-H Birb Cherryburst 1980s
Product Details:
Here for sale is a parlor guitar that is for legal reasons in no way like any guitars that have ever existed before in the history of guitars ever, amen. *wink* plays pretty decent, would be a good drag around vintage banger. it is currently strung with bronze wound nylon strings, but i think it would support extra light (.10-.50) bronze strings. as always, i cleaned it up, polished the finish, oiled the board, changed the strings, cleaned the electronic components and set the action low and smooth. this guitar comes with no case or gig bag, but i pack my guitars tight and insure every package for the full purchase amount. as with all of my pre-1980 acoustic guitars without adjustable truss rods, this guitar is being sold "as is" regardless of condition. (see my shop policies for more information.) got questions? shoot me a message, i love nerding out with other gearheads!

8. Monoprice Indio Mini 66 Electric Guitar – Goldtop, With Gig Bag
Product Details:
Though small in stature do not mistake these for simple toys. indio mini guitars and basses mean business! the indio mini 3/4 scale electric guitars and bass are perfect for rehearsals, running scales during conference calls (be sure to mute the boss), young players in training, or anyone who just wants a smaller neck and body. indio mini electrics feature the same construction, high quality components, and attention to detail of their full size brothers. as a bonus it looks really cool seeing these little guys shredding through a high gain 100-watt full stack or 500-watt 8×10 amplifier.
Reviews:
Both are Indio purchases. The Goldtop is my second purchase. Can not say enough about this company, their products, pricing, business model and delivery. Just can not. Purchased each one for $99 and only $4+ shipping. They are cheap in cost but NOT cheap in what the customer receives. NOT by a LONG SHOT. KUDOS Indo. HUGE KUDOSPeter J
Sturdy, well built, nicely finished. Very fun to play.New User
Got this guitar for my 10 year old daughter (her first guitar). Positives: It plays great, looks great, feels great (seems well built so far), and has a decent tone (not a ton of difference though between pickups but that's not a huge deal). For the price it is fantastic. Negatives: Every fret was sticking past the neck and some were razor sharp (I actually cut myself trying it out of the box). Pretty easy fix though with a file/sandpaper. There are online tutorials for how to do this. No need to take it into a shop IMO. The only other minor negative was the strings it came with. Could not stay in tune for even a few seconds. Highly suggest changing to something heavy like a 12-54 (I bought the D'addario XL nickels and they work great). Totally stays in tune now. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind doing some minor adjustments.David
