I first started playing guitar around the age of 15. Recalling the first experience of being on the stage was definitely thrilling. I remember that I sometimes forgot to breathe while playing, often switched to a wrong pedal, and even had to bend down to pick up the pick I had dropped. This guitar is awesome. I was actually really surprised right out of the box how playable it was. Feel like usually when you get a new guitar you have to get it set up to really see it shine, but this thing right away is super playable. Was definitely surprised how light this thing was also, its crazy, it looks like it'd be heavy but its lighter than even my strat. (this could be a good or bad thing depending on what you want imo). It reminds me a lot of my Les Paul, but the reliability of it staying in tune right away along with it being WAY lighter has definitely impressed me. In my own personal opinion it has taken all the good things about a les paul classic and done them better. Similar price, similar tones, but doesnt have those typical gibson issues that those guitars usually come with. Highly recommend, it sounds great, plays great, and feels great. Only complaint is that they should release some better finishes. But otherwise, who cares, its awesome.Graham
The PRS DGT is an artist spec'd guitar that belongs to the McCarty linage of instruments. Studio guitarist Tim Pierce says it's the best PRS, which has also been noticed in the guitar collection of Nashville studio ace Bret Mason. This Core model is top-notch and features exquisite build quality. The pickups were prototyped 40 times and are reminiscent of a Les Paul, ES-335, and Telecaster. The five-spring vibrato bar provides a nice shimmer with the signature .11 gauge string set. The fret dress is exclusive to this model, a requirement of David Grissom. Bought without trying it out because I had seen a photo and decided I would like to try it but was out of stock for many months. Then it became available for $79 off and I jumped. – It came well packaged and in perfect condition. 'Played as well as it looked and it looks even better than the photos show it. The finish is as deep and glossy as any I have seen, and even the fretboard is bound. It seemed a tad bass shy at first but over the last few weeks has bloomed and now sounds beautifully balanced with tight well defined tones throughout the octaves and plenty of shimmer up high. 'Have not plugged in yet but it projects well without amplification and should be just fine for a small stage like a church or coffee house. I highly recommend this guitar to any enthusiast.Steven
I went to the GC in Palm Desert CA with a five-hundred dollar budget for a new acoustic/electric. There were three guitars that I had to play, but I was open to checking out others. I didn't see the Hummingbird in the room so I asked the clerk to check for me … he found one. Before he got back with the Epiphone, I had a chance to play the Guild and a Fender that were on my list, as well as a few that were not. The Fender was winning … until the clerk showed up with the Epiphone. The craftsmanship/fit and finish, the feel of the neck/action, the sound projection/tone … Everything about the guitar was perfect for me! I could not be happier!John
For the price it is exceptional value. Beautiful looking musical instrument. For me there are just two reservations. 1. There is no built tuner. 2. The pick up doesn’t work with my Xvive U2 wireless system. I have another electro acoustic, also with Fishman electronics, which does work with the Xvive U2 wireless system so I was sort of expecting this would to. Apart from that it is jewel of a guitar and punches well above its price tag.

I am a 59 year old guitar player, had expensive and cheap gear over the years. I don't think I'm technically great but know how to get a good sound. When looking for a cheap guitar to sit with, my Les Paul and even my '88 Strat often got a bit uncomfortable , I decided to try one of these, you can return them after all, no trouble. What a great little guitar! Obviously GAK probably don't get these out of the box to check them, my box was still stapled shut from the factory, and this is OK at this level but I worry a beginner would be put off if the guitar is poorly set-up. First off the finish is superb, no rough edges to the frets, the colour and gloss on the body was perfect, the unvarnished neck just sits comfortably in the hand, I picked this above the more expensive 'Affinity' as apparently the nut width is a little wider. I didn't need to adjust the neck, I just cut the nut a little lower on the G,B and E strings for comfort. The frets needed a light rubbing with fine wet and dry and that was it, a perfect, light practise tool. I would even gig with this no problem. Each and every one of the tuners work smoothly and firmly. Sound wise, it sounds like a Tele to me and this is always a very subjective and personal thing anyway, I don't like overly powerful pickups (my Les Paul has '57's) I prefer to push the sound with pedals. All I can say is, if not sure, 'Buy one'. I have done nothing but played this to death since I got it 4 days ago, hard on the finger tips as I haven't played regularly for a while. I hope I haven't just got a 'good one' and would like to think any of them would be as good, all the reviews I read suggests so.Customer
Bit of a clickbait title, but I genuinely sold my Gibson SG to downsize buy a cheap guitar + a load of other bits and pieces. Do I regret it? Not in the slightest. Now obviously build quality and sound aren't to the standards of the Gibson, but this cost a fraction of the price and honestly; I've not really lost anything. 15 years ago when I started playing instruments, buying a guitar at this price was a stop gap, and generally had more faults than positives… what has changed in that time!? Squires bottom of the range guitars are infinitely better than any other guitar i have played at the same price point, and this guitar holds up against mid range guitars. So, bad points? There's a couple of minors. The neck has a single rough spot that was fixed in less than 10 seconds with a fine sand down, but that was it in terms of looks and feel. The frets are perfect, the setup out of the box literally needed a quarter of a clockwise screwdriving to sort the intonation on the low E – I've never had so little to setup on any guitar I've ever owned (Maybe I got lucky, but to think this is possible on such a cheap guitar is magical). The only 'issue' I'd say this guitar has is, the pick ups aren't very hot. They're more than reasonable, especially at the price point, but dont expect to fill out an arena with the sound. Important to point out: this guitar costs about the same as a good set of pick ups… so this actually just makes this a great project guitar as well. Lovely smooth matt neck, which i'm a huge fan of, tight neck joint, well finished frets and reasonable tuners that are better than yesteryears tuning pegs. If you're looking for a starter guitar, a project guitar, a guitar for some home studio recording, a back up guitar or something you can chuck about and have a bit of fun with, this is the one.
Earlier this year, I decided I'd like a telecaster style guitar to give me an alternative to my Fender Strat. Originally purchased a G&L tele from a firm who shall remain nameless (hint: they're named after the generic name for the things I'm talking about in this review, times two!). Unboxing said item, I was really underwhelmed – it didn't come in its original G&L packaging for starters – and I ended up sending it back. Forgot about a new guitar for a few months until I came across the Fender Squier Classic Vibe 50s in Butterscotch. Loved the understated look, a proper "classic" look in this particular finish. Read some glowing reviews, looked around for the best price and found it here at DV247. Bit the bullet, and it was delivered without a hitch a few days later (think it's shipped over from Germany). The package weighed a ton! Well packaged by DV247, and inside another sturdy box well packaged by Fender – I should have done an unboxing video! When I finally got to the guitar – a thing of beauty! Albeit understated, as I said before. The most impressive thing? All that way from Indonesia, halfway across the world to Germany, then via courier to my door – the damned thing is still in tune!!! Buy one!

Selling a very nice 2014 prs mira. this one has a nice lightweight mahogany body/neck and dark rosewood fingerboard with bird inlays. the guitar has some small nicks/dings/scratches in the vintage cherry finish but overall it's still in very good shape. the frets show almost no wear and this guitar plays, sounds, and looks great. guitar has nice low and easy action and plays cleanly up and down the neck. the original pickups sound great and all controls work as they should. guitar looks to be completely stock and comes in an older hardshell case. the weight on this one is very comfortable at 6.49 lbs! no trade offers please.

So this is my first PRS and I took a gamble on getting an import SE model. Normally I prefer US made Gibsons and have got used to the fit and finish on those. So with that said that should put you into my mindset. So the finish is spectacular no blemishes, runs, or bubbles. So if you’re looking for a wall hangar yes! Now into the playability, the frets are finished and smoothed out perfectly. The fretboard is channel bound and rolled, so it feels really good. The tuners feel like real tuners, meaning not wiggly and they all have consistent turn pressure (not too loose, not too tight) hopefully they’ll stay that way, but since they are to standard PRS specs, easy replacement with an upgraded tuner if need be. The bridge is solid with brass saddles, feels great against the palm with no sharp edges. Wood under transparent finish has a little bit of movement and a nice grain. Electronics leave something to be desired. The push pull tone pot rolls like a skateboard wheel while the volume has a nice resistance with consistent roll. The selector switch is middle of the road, not great, but not “I have to replace this now”. However with electronics easily swappable this is not a negative mark at this price point. So to summarize everything wood that can’t be fixed doesn’t need to be, electronics are going to get you down the road but are candidates for full upgrade. For $699 this is a solid guitar and I have no regrets. It will stay in my rack.Clay

Since 2004 my electric guitars were typically PRS core models (some 10 tops) or Don Grosh custom models (and Grosh guitars will always be my all time favorite). At this time I couldn't afford the Grosh I wanted, and though I could have pulled off a more high end PRS, I knew that I've always felt that the gorgeous flame tops were too flashy for me. The PRS S2 Standard 22 offered the pickup combo I wanted and the coil tap option. I wanted a trem and I wanted a simple finish. On top of that "made in America" was a must. Having enjoyed PRS necks and quality build, the S2 was a good sound choice for a guitar I could pay off in a few months. The pickups can sing, and I can dial in many tone options. I'll admit that I hoped the split coil feature would be bolder, but I'll be using the full humbucker mode 99% of the time. The pickups can rock, do jazz, country-fry your licks and even though others say they won't – I've dialed in some serious metal. Playing around the other day with a new pre-amp, I found myself with that amazing feedback you hear on many Larry Carlton tunes. I also need to mention that the trem and locking tuners wrok great and you won't find this combo on many USA guitars in this price range. Sustain, resonance, comfort, great frets and a ba-zillion other things that make this a wonderful guitar. These compliments come from a player who has owned many guitars now selling for $3500 to $4800 dollars.Jon

Overall: Like someone else said, right now, this is my favorite. I'm quick to pick it up and play without plugging it in. Plugged in it has an awesome tonal range. Using in my DAW with LogicPro it's really easy to get quiet, noiseless tones but still the crunch and sting when you want. The neck fits my hand perfectly. Overall, the quality is what you would expect. One issue to be aware of. Could be my clumsiness, but I've noticed that small chips have developed on the bottom edge where it rests in my guitar stand. Stand has rubber over the prongs but I still I wish the finish was heavier or maybe clear coated somehow over the antique finish. All i all I would buy it again.
Been playing for 20 years and I've had my fair share of instruments. This guitar is a cut above many in its price point. USA built, solid construction and rings like a bell. No it's not a core model that looks fancy but, you get all the goods of a PRS. Pickups in this are not really suited for metal out of the box but, you can go old school and boost it and get that saturated goodness. But if your thing is rock, hard rock, blues, country etc this guitar will be awesome in your arsenal. I was scared that the neck would be thin but when I opened the bag and grabbed the guitar, I was greeted with a full neck that fits like glove in my hand. Thin necks aren't my thing and never have been. However says you need a slim neck to play fast is wrong it only makes it a bit easier for some hand types. Bottom line, great guitar, great sound and amazing build quality. Grab one!Brian B
I had 10 guitars of varying build quality prior to buying this PRS. Everything from high end squires to Mexican Fenders and USA G&Ls. This guitar blew me away. The fit and finish are superb. Every tone is usable, it's resonant, it looks and plays like a dream. I ended up selling all but one G&L v12 and this Vela. Then I bought a few "key guitars" that I knew I'd like to have in the long run based on previously owned instruments. I snagged a Pro II Strat, a G&L ASAT, and a Relish that I got on sale here at Sweetwater. I now have only five guitars, but I am thrilled with them all. This swap was all due to playing a truly great guitar, this Vela, and remembering that quality matters. If you love a guitar you'll play it more and enjoy the experience in a slightly different way. The Vela is my number one. It's fantastic. Light, great sounds from each pickup, and neck is a joy to play. Love it, and now I love them all. Thanks for the help Jason Filloramo.

I've been looking for a particular sound from an acoustic to replace my Ibanez. I went into to the GC to get strings for my other axes and try out a white Tele they had. Tele wasn't quite what I was looking for so I went into the accoustic room and this just stood out and I had to tryit. I was sold after one strum of Dm-A-G. That was the sound I wanted. Mids somewhere between a J45 and a Taylor. Highs have just the right amount of brilliance without stealing the show. Exactly what I was looking for. It has a bone nut and saddle so this thing rings out so well. The only thing I can think of negative is the Epiphone Deluxe tuners feel cheap. I'm just going to order some Gibson Deluxe's, other than that this is a beaut!JR
This guitar is beautiful. I've played many guitars, but none are more pretty than this. I have the Cherry Burst, wow! The fretboard material is Laural Wood. It plays nicely with bended notes, nice and firm. This guitar has good "weight." It is one of the heavier acoustics I've played. I like that too, it feels like great quality. Mine is not made in China. It was manufactured in Indonesia. These Asian manufacturers are doing a great job and I like it that mine is from Indonesia, too. There is good balance in sound from string to string, too. It's nice that it came with a sound hole cover, but such a nice (and fairly pricey) guitar should come with a gig bag or case.Boomer
Overall: Ok let me first say that I have been playing guitar since 1964. I have so many guitars since then I can't even remember them.In my experience Epiphone guitars have always been a solid platform for someone who is first starting and novice and intermediate level players.After reading about these " Inspired By Gibson" series Masterbilt guitars I thought I'd give one a try to see how close to a real Hummingbird it is.It caught me off guard. The fit and finish is outstanding. The playability was absolutely perfect out of the box.The original 1960's Headstock makes it look really nice. Not that deeply scalloped extended swelled at the top one usually find on an Epiphone. Nice touch Epiphone !The tulip Keystone vintage tuners are excellent. Smooth and tight. Fret work was amazing for a guitar in this price point as well as getting a guitar with beautiful solid mahogany and Sitka spruce that is finished in an accurate vintage toner. The real Mother of Pearl inlays are a really nice touch.At this price point getting an instrument with a one piece mahogany neck with no seperate heel is almost unheard of. I am tempted to say this Epiphone is so close to the Gibson model it amazed me that Gibson would allow Epiphone to produce something this close to their high dollar Hummingbird.In conclusion…. I received this today. I got home as the UPS driver was leaving it at my door. I quickly unboxed this and just looked at it. The case is considerably heavy, and the guitar is very light relatively speaking. The smell of the natural wood is present and pleasant. The rich sound is amazing. I love it. I immediately tuned it and played a few bits of songs I know. It is a wonderful guitar that is pleasing to the eye and even more delightful to the ear. This is making me long to learn more music and master my STP favorites. Very happy with my purchase.Michael
I've been looking for a pro instrument, something I would keep for a lifetime, to replace my entry-level Takamine acoustic. Maybe 20+ years ago I had played a Gibson Hummingbird in a store and I fell in love. But I couldn't afford it at the time. Still, I was open to other brands when shopping, and I tried a lot of them. But the Hummingbird Studio Walnut wound up being exactly I was looking for. Above all, an acoustic has to sound right for you. The "right" sound can be different for everyone, and it can also depend on what style of music you play. If you are a singer, some guitars might compliment your voice better than others. This Hummingbird Studio has a very balanced sound across the entire range. It has a confident low end, but not "boomy". The high strings are never spikey – they are smooth, clear, and blend sweetly within chords. The Walnut back and sides seem to contribute to this "smooth and even" sound. There's a Rosewood version too, which sounded a bit brighter and stiffer to me. The Walnut responds very well to light or heavy playing, with plenty of overtones while still maintaining note definition. The body of this Studio version is slightly less deep than a traditional Hummingbird (by about 0.75 of an inch). While I'm sure that equates to a difference in sound on some level, I prefer to simply evaluate this guitar based on how it sounds on its own – which to me is wonderfully smooth and rich. It seems much easier for me to get a good recorded sound out of this compared to my cheaper acoustic. I'm using a microphone in my home studio (Rode NT1). I haven't even tried the built-in electronics, so I can't comment on that. The feel of a guitar is just as important as sound to me. I do admit that I'm a Gibson fan in general, also owning a Les Paul Studio. The neck on the Hummingbird Studio just fits me perfectly, and it makes me want to pick it up and play it every time I walk past it hanging on the wall in my home. Another thing I really like about the Studio series is the lack of binding on the neck. That's just a personal preference, but I like to see the bare neck and fretboard wood instead of plastic binding. To each their own. I compared this to a few Taylors – all great guitars, but the Taylors have a brighter, more modern sound that didn't quite suit me. The other contender was a nice Martin D-16E which sounded great, but just didn't quite feel right in my hands. In the end, the Hummingbird Studio just said "welcome home" every time I picked it up. This is a beautiful guitar and I loved everything about it until I started having problems with the output jack. I don't know if the construction issues were just related to my guitar or if anyone else has had the same issues. Nonetheless I had to bring it back to GC to have it repaired. One week later, I had the same issue, loose output jack with just normal use. I contacted Gibson directly and shipped my guitar to them to be repaired and they completely replaced the jack with a new and different one. So no more issues with loose jack after that, BUT something with the wiring must have been damaged in the process. When It was plugged in the sound would come and go or I would get a crackly sound. I changed batteries and tried multiple different cables thinking maybe it was the cable. No, it wasn't. At this point, with the price of this guitar and the expectation that Gibson would put out a quality product, I was frustrated and just opted to either exchange or return it. I will say my local GC was very supportive and helpful and allowed me to exchange for a different guitar. I went with another brand and am very pleased with my new guitar! I'm really sad that it didn't work out with this. Hopefully it was just my specific guitar, and that others who have purchased this or plans to purchase this does not have the same issues.Vanessa

I am sure this is a 5 star guitar but due to Musicians Friend 1 star performance I wouldn't know. I placed my order on Monday Sept 6. Item was listed "In Stock and ready to ship" on MF website, "Most items ship same day if order placed before 3 PM". I placed my order before 3 PM but is was Labor Day and I certainly wouldn't expect them to ship on a holiday. On Tuesday Sept 7 I received a confirmation email that the order was received. Then radio silence for the next 2 days. On Thursday September 9th I contacted them by chat asking about the status of the order. Immediately prior to initiating the chat I checked the website and it still listed the guitar as In stock and ready to ship. They looked up the order and told me the guitar was out of stock but they are expecting a shipment soon. So I get that just because an item is indicated as in stock on the website at any given moment, it may not be. I have no problem with that. I assumed that the website is not updated in real time and that's ok. Interestingly after the chat I refreshed the MF webpage and suddenly it said the guitar was out of stock but expected soon. Interesting. So I said ok I will be patient. Three days go by and no update from MF. I contacted them again via chat. This time they say they are expecting a new shipment to arrive on Tuesday 9/14. Sounds good thank you very much and I'm thinking they might ship to me by Wed 9/15. Wed 9/15 rolls around and still radio silence. I check the website. Guitar is now once again listed as In stock and ready to ship. What's the deal? It's been over a week since I placed a $3600 order and not a single MF-initiated email to tell me what's going on and what the delay is. I contact MF again via chat. Lo and behold, it is still out of stock! So wrong info given on previous chat, completely false info on their website. I have a minor tantrum. Chat person says she is contacting a store where they might have on in stock. She is very apologetic (continued below)Disappointed

Then I bought a few "key guitars" that I knew I'd like to have in the long run based on previously owned instruments. I snagged a Pro II Strat, a G&L ASAT, and a Relish that I got on sale here at Sweetwater. I now have only five guitars, but I am thrilled with them all. This swap was all due to playing a truly great guitar, this Vela, and remembering that quality matters. If you love a guitar you'll play it more and enjoy the experience in a slightly different way. The Vela is my number one. It's fantastic. Light, great sounds from each pickup, and neck is a joy to play. Love it, and now I love them all. Thanks for the help Jason Filloramo.

I am thoroughly disappointed in the quality of the paint job on this guitar. The finish looks and feels like it wasn't sanded smooth, and the paint job is cheesy. You can see the un-smoothness of the wood. Also, the pick-guard has a bunch of scratches, and a couple of spots where it's damaged and white shows through the black finish of the pick guard. $1,499 plus tax and shipping for an instrument that is damaged and has a worse fit and finish than my $199 Epiphone SG. The pick guard protective plastic had been removed, which, along with the scratches/damage, tells me this was used and returned, and sold again to me as new. I complained and they've offered me a $120 refund. Not happy with my first and last experience with American Musical Supply.
Great comfortable weight and excellent sustain. I'd prefer a hotter set of pickups such as the 500t or Dirty Fingers but the 490 set will suit the majority of rock players just fine. That is a subjective matter regarding pickups. It comes with a super nice case and my example has no flaws whatsoever. I'd suggest applying some conditioner to the fretboard early on as it seems most newer fretboards are on the dry side- regardless of brand. No sharp fret ends are present here. I really like the simple control layout. I've had it well over a month so I'm well out of honeymoon stage. This one is so good that I do not see the benefit of buying the next one up for a $300 upcharge, that is unless you simply don't like the green.
This is my first Gibson. I have a bunch of Fender strats and a few Ibanez guitars that I love, but the sound from this guitar is so nice. Really nice clean sounds and amazing crunch. The setup on the guitar was perfect out of the box. The guitar isn't heavy and feels comfortable to play standing or sitting. It doesn't feel bottom heavy like a few Les Pauls I have tried in the past. I really like the olive drab color. Makes this guitar really stand out in my collection.Kris A.

The reason for four stars instead of 5 is because of the lack of having a fully accessible 2 octave reach to those upper frets, and particularly on the "lead" neck. (Epi really needs to fix that — just stretch that neck out there another 3-4 inches on the new model.) Otherwise … I've had this guitar about 4 years now (the white one). Everything except those upper frets are stellar — but that is a critical concern when reaching for certain leads. I do a one-man-band thing. About 1/3 of the night I'm needing the 12 string on rhythm parts, and about 2/3 of those songs require jumping to the 6 string for the lead parts. This one guitar has REALLY honed my playing skills. The material ranges the spectrum of genres (Bob Dylan to AC/DC to Styx to BOC & everything in between.) I played rhythm & sang behind dynamite lead players over the years, and never developed my own lead skills till starting the OMB thing, and having this doubleneck in particular. WOW. I'm a different guitarist (and singer) at this point. I knew that by using backing tracks, singing (even harmonies with a splitter), and doing such a range of styles (and often two guitar parts) would require either a '5 song per night' acoustic or a double neck for more flexibility. The 12 string aspect fills in things perfectly when you are the only guitar on stage. It's great for many of the "clean" songs on the list. I went with Epi over the Gibson for budget and an obvious "fear factor." (I can't imagine taking a $5k guitar into the average bar or coffee house to get stolen or banged up.) After years of playing it, I really doubt there is 10 cents difference in quality, which really surprized me. This is not the 'generic equivalent' of the Gibson. It is a precision instrument, right down to the feel of the frets (and I own and have played primarily Gibson all my life — a V-2, a standard V, a LP custom, a LP studio, and an SG). The 6 neck feels just like an SG — fast and tight. The 12 is just as great under my smaller fingers — yet another surprize. With a padded strap, it is tolerable through an entire set, and I only weigh 'a buck thirty-five soaking wet.' Many 2 neckers are back breakers. It's heavy — but not quite as bad as some of the guitar-shaped concrete blocks I have tried out. Also, I had to make my own customized stand for on stage. Pick up a standard one, get some angle iron and a pair of the wall mount guitar hangers, drill and tap the angle iron, mount the hangers adjusted to the neck spacing, then mount that bar to the head of the stand. Seemed the best option at the time, and it works. For sound, the original rig is/was a Digitech multi-effect unit on the floor into a 100w Marshall. The Digitech is a bit light on acoustic modeling, so I am about to make a change. By putting a dual 1/4" adapter on the existing output, I can split things into two chains. For the 12 string neck, I'll have that route into a more robust acoustic modeling floor FX unit (like the Boss AD-8), then into a Marshall AS100D acoustic amp. When I flip the switch to the lead neck, that will go to the existing rig (love the available options on the Digitech for that). So I'll be able to go from the bright rhythm parts of "Take it on the run" (REO Speedwagon) to the crunch leads, and back. There might be a bit more footwork involved, but with an OMB situation, I'm beyond noticing how much I play with gadgets under my feet. The point in having a 2 necker is flexibility. If that's what you want, and can live either without the upper few frets — or have longer fingers than I, then THIS is the guitar you probably want. (For the other 2/3 of the night, when I am on harder-edge material and absolutely require the end of the 2nd octave, I grab either my V or Strat. Either goes into the lead side of my FX chain, and that's that.) I strongly recommend looking at amplification as a first concern. If you can have two amps on stage — one for really tweaked-out 12 string dynamics and even acoustic modeling, and another for the hot side of the 6 string — DO IT that way. Just plan on it. You won't regret it. The heat of those lead pickups will have you crazy trying to balance one neck against the other on the volumes. Fact is, the lead neck on this guitar has the HOTTEST pickups of my entire collection (im guessing about a +15db boost). Period. It screams, and just loves the hard rock/metal. Without missing a beat, the quality of the 12 string side is absolutely higher than any acoustic I've ever owned. With modern FX units, and any skill at all — well, if I had to downsize to only one axe, this would be the one I'd keep. No doubt about it.Aaron-4M-5X
Alpine White is back! If you wanted one of these in something other than Heritage Cherry nows the time to buy one. Overall this is a well made Gibson EDS style double neck. With better pickup selection choices vs the Gibson. Three switches are better than two. I've got a Norlin era EDS 1275 ala Felder. And this compares favorably. Slightly lighter and seems more resonant. The resonence may be due to to the revised Page spec tail peice location. while it's personal preference I much prefer the ProBucker 2-3 over the Alnico Classic Pro pickups this ships with. Having a pair for some added punch on at least the 6 string side would be nice. Wheather your playing originals or covers, live or in the studio this is a fabulous way to add some 12 string girth, chime and jangle to your sound. If your doing covers in a band having one of these opens up a whole bunch of material. And playing it on a double neck is twice as much fun. I own this And a Gibson EDS. I highly recommend the Epiphone version. At the price point it's hard to beat and if you like the sound of a electric 12 string they are fun to play and add the sonic charactor only a 12 string brings.Scott from Cleveland
It seems every Epiphone guitar I've owned always has a few bugs to be worked out. However once they're fixed they're very nice guitars to play. This double neck was no exception as the 12 string neck cut out on me due to some wiring issues. Musicisnsfriend was very cool about the issue and sent me a replacement that's had no major issues so far. Given it's size you would think I guitar like this would be difficult to play both awkward and heavy. However I was pleasently surprised how comfortable the guitar felt. The guitar is actually a bit lighter than my Les Paul. Both necks are easy to access. Switching back and forth takes a bit of practice if your new to owning a double neck. This guitar features a three way switch to switch between the 12, the 6 or both at the same time. I find having both necks lowers the output of the pickups a bit. I prefer to switch between one or the other personally I seldom use them at the same time. In addition to the three between the necks, each neck gets it's own 3 way tone. There are two volume and two tone knobs that control both necks as well. As states earlier the necks are very nice to play. I find the action very comparible to a Les Paul. The pickups are very well balanced providing enough output for great lead from a good crunch up to a high gain metal. But the pickups aren't too hot to give it very clean tone when needed as well. As with the neck the tone also is very comparible to that of a Les Paul. I've not played many 12 string guitars prior to buying this one, so it's difficult to compare the top neck to another. It plays very nice. The action was just right out of the box with no setup needed. The only minor complaint I would make with this guitar is the access to the higher notes on 19th fret and on. Each neck only features a 20 fret neck which limits you a bit if you play lead using higher notes. The sg body doesn't have as deeper of a cut away body as some guitars so access to the 19th and 20th fret can be hardZack

The bridge saddle, super Treble Saddle, guitarneck nut, and super treble nut are made of to soft of a material. No amplification for Bass or Super Treble. The fret job was superb, as well as the action. The finish of the fingerboard was very nice but not oiled a good coat of lemoil did wonders. Needs complete setup. Only After adjusting the neck. lowering the saddle and after removing the nut and properly seating it was it playable. It now plays reasonably well and I can enjoy it. So there are people out there who think BC Rich sold out with this Stranger Things themed release. Whether that is true or not it doesn't take away from the fact that this is a great quality guitar. The neck is the high point for me. This is the best bolt on neck I've ever played. I would say it's better than a actual 85 Stealth NJ series neck that I own. Frets are silky smooth, not sharp at all. The paint overall is great and I don't see any imperfections. Could the crackle be better? Yes… is it bad? No. If you want a better crackle buy the run of 200. Only complaints are that the pictures were advertised with a run of 200 and now it's 2000. Takes away from the collector value. The electronics are horrible. But that was to be expected, the Floyd rose is cheap. The pros outweigh the bad which isn't a big deal. Great 80s themed guitar. Also the gig bag it came with is really nice.. Worth the buy.Nick
This thing is killer. Fantastic attention to detail. Even if you are not into Stranger Things it is still well worth the money. The Red Crackle finish is awesome and there were only 1000 made with (the other 1000 are the black finish). Also comes with a very nice B.C Rich gig bag which fits it perfectly. Dont bother spending 5K on the Custom Shop version as this will be the one to have.Kevin
Excellent quality! Neck and frets are perfect, pickups sound great clean or high gain, and quality control is on point! No neck dive or anything either! Oh, and can't forget how awesome the crackle finish is!!!! I personally like this better than my old 87' USA BCR gunslinger. My only complaint is it was advertised to come with a FR 1000 and came with a special. They've since fixed this and the bridge works great either way. This guitar is a game changer for this company! I have used this guitar with my band, live and in rehearsals… Plays fantastically once I set it up to my desired specs (Std D tuning, 10-52 strings, FU Tone brass block), but these PRS stock pickups have no grunt and snarl to them, so I plan to add an SD Black Winter set like in my EC Black Metal FR (dropped C). I have reverted back to using my Kramer Assault Plus which came loaded with the SD Alternative 8 set. Will likely use Custom 24 as primary D guitar again after replacing pickups. For this pickup issue alone, I'm giving it 3 stars, otherwise, it would be 5, as spending over 200 bucks more is a bit off putting after spending over $1100 for this plus a hard shell case for an import.Steve

You experience a whole new level of quality craftsmanship, choice parts and select materials. Small innovative ideas that make you think, “now that's a better way to do that, why didn’t anyone else think of that?” The guitar was set up perfectly, fret work is incredible and is such a joy to play. Not to mention that it’s so beautiful. I’m sure whatever finish you select, it will look incredible. But it’s not just a pretty face. This instruments excels at what it’s suppose to do. Be a tool for your music. Nothing is perfect so here is what I found. And I’m being VERY picky The pickups are fantastic.
