I just bought this pedal a few weeks ago and it has made a big difference in the tone of my guitar amp. I am playing a Les Paul Studio 70's tribute through an Egnater Renegade. I was suprised that this little box would thicken up my tone so much and increase the natural harmonic prescence of my guitar. My guitar has mini-humbuckers, which have a really crisp clean tone but do not have the massive distorting ability of their humbucking big brothers. Not any more, my distorted guitar tone is so rich and thick now and I have no trouble doing pinch harmonics. I recommend this pedal to anyone wanting to overdrive their tube amp more without changing or coloring the natural tone of their amp. I love the analog warmth this pedal brings to my guitar tone. You can't really tell it's on sometimes, but if you turn it off you instantly notice the difference. Well I was ify at first about getting this cus I had a Lovepedal Echophonics delay, that I used with its boost to use on my other pedals but I felt like I needed more and I had the EP Booster before which is awesome but wasn't for me. So on a limb I bought the Echoplex and yes its exactly what everyone says it is….pretty much secret sauce. I put it last in my chain right next to the Echophonics pedal and both push my fuzz pedals into a loud, fuzzy mid like tone that is easy to cut thru a band mix. This pedal has gotta be one of the most underrated OD pedals out there…. especially given its price point. I have A,B'd this thing against modded BD-2s, modded OD-3's, and the SD-1W and the Mojomojo is just bigger and less tinty. I dont want it to be, but it is. It is a wonderful sounding OD and is great for OD rhythm sounds. It is in the cranked Marshall class of OD's so not to be confused with the green OD pedal. The only area that some of my modded ODs beat it in is sustain. It does tail off on lead stuff sooner than some more expensive pedals. That is the only area that it doesn't win though. You can also use this as an always on boost as well. All in all this thing always seems to knock more expensive pedals off my board time and time again. Highly recommend this pedal and at it's price point it should be in all OD aficionados collection.KL
I use the MojoMojo on my Fender G-DEC Junior and it helps to make the amp sound warmer, richer and fuller. The MojoMojo when dialed in right adds a very slight and suttle low mid thickness, hard to explain. I find its not a "set it and forget it" type of pedal (i.e. Tube screamer), for each amp setting I have to dial it in or it will sound muddy but with a little tweaking between the amp settings and the pedal settings (usually level settings rather than tone knobs) I can get them matched tonally and sonically, bass tone knob is usually set pretty low. I use low output humbuckers and it works great with these. I can get nice overdrive without changing the amps overall characteristic sound.

While I am still in the early stages of getting to know this pedal … I generally wait 6+ months to review … the Le Lead is an exception. As a straight 'plug 'n play' box, this one is easy to dial in. Twist a few knobs and you can go from slightly overdriven Tweed to full on Marshall 800 stack without any sweat. The punch feedback and even harmonics are a welcome change from modeling pedals. It reminds me of my Hafler T2 preamp OD / Distortion rack unit on serious steroids. Variations on any theme are pretty straightforward as there are no DIP switches to fiddle with although it's easy to get lost in the routing of A+B, B+A, etc. Thus far, I have only tested through my Strat and an Ampeg GVT15-112 tube combo. The combo itself is a great piece with onboard spring reverb and tons of output tube Distortion via a pair of 6V6s, but the Le Lead turns that combo into something else. It makes those tubes cry with that output tube Distortion we all love so much. Ultra high gain even order harmonics and even squeal if that's what you're looking for. I'm not sure I would recommend it for thrash, but if you're looking for a preamp, OD, distortion pedal wearing many hats, ya can't go wrong with the Le Lead … to be continued…

I'm a metal guy at heart, so when I finally put the Metal Zone away and started building a grownup pedal board, a Tube Screamer was high on my list. I was particularly interested in this unit because of the size, since my beginner board probably isn't going to be very big. I plugged this little guy into my regular setup and was immediately blown away. If you've played some metal you know the setup: straight into a high gain amp, drive at 0, level at 10, and tone dialed in to taste. It made my Orange Micro Dark Terror, digital Bias FX rig, and even my sad old Marshall solid state roar, but in a much more defined way that never felt flabby or uncontrollable. I would recommend pairing it with a decent noise gate to trim down the hum, but that's just what electric guitars do when you crank the gain, and not a flaw of this pedal in particular. Okay, sure, it can do metal. I've also run this unit through a bunch of other setups and contexts. Through my Orange I definitely got very usable blues and classic rock tones by pulling the gain and volume back on the amp, and setting everything on the pedal around half way. I can even see potentially using it with the drive all the way up as a lead boost or to slightly break up a clean tone. This little thing is a beast for sure, and is pretty much perfect for my uses. It's not a transform your amp kind of effect, it's meant to compliment what your existing equipment already does. It has some specific things it does well, and it *really* nails them. #sweepstakesDan
Stop what you're doing right now. RIGHT NOW, and get this pedal. This tiny little monster sounds incredible and I am kicking myself for not trying any kind of Tube Screamer for my 20+ years of playing guitar. This literally sounds like a tube amp in a box. You can dial in the perfect amount of boost or drive without really impacting your guitar's true tone. If you push it all the way, it's almost in distortion territory, yet it retains warmth and picking dynamics…on the other hand it compresses nicely – like a tube amp. How does it do that? It's magic. I got this mini version because I'm building a mini pedal board, so it fits perfectly. Don't let the size fool you though, because it sounds incredible. The only drawback is that it needs an external power supply. Oh, and as an added bonus, this is made in Japan, and it shows. The switches, knobs, and inputs feel very high-quality. I collect Tube Screamers, and decided to get this for the collection. Soundwise, it works as a TS808; great transparent overdrive for stand-alone use but excels at boosting gain on an overdriven amp. Not as harsh or "dark" as a TS9, and a decent price. Definitely a TS to consider if you're trying to save some money; you definitely won't be missing out on the sound of the TS808. Also great if you want to add a Tube Screamer to a board, but need to save space. The only negative I can say is the Level and Tone knobs are difficult to see for settings, but that's true with most mini pedals. It doesn't take a battery, but there again, neither do most mini pedals. Construction is more solid than the Mooer Green Mile, and the TSMini is made in Japan (thought for sure it was Chinese). The price is great on these, but I'd also consider checking out the East River Overdrive by EHX; my current favorite Tube Screamer clone. As far as the Ibanez Tube Screamer line-up, this is seemingly the best value.Dave

It's very well-engineered in build quality – quieter at high gain than most, but…the LEDs are too bright (on a dark stage you can't see beyond them to the controls), the 4 wiring option cuts out the amp reverb (Fender Supersonic) when the V4 is kicked in, and although Channel 2 is good for solo's the Ch1 is a bit fizzy for crunch. Initially I struggled to find a sound that I liked from this pre-amp, probably because I am not a great Marshall fan but I persevered and by knocking back the mids a bit and playing with the bright switch, I eventually found the sound I was looking for. Very well built. Overall sounds excellent with some issues. Single set of tone controls doesn't work well as the 2 channels are distinctly different. Doesn't do clean well at lower gain; you need plenty of headroom and it then cleans up OK. Will probably need a clean preamp of some sort to switch to for clean. First of all I should to say that I have had play experience only with amp sims before so that this review is written impressed by difference between digital and analogue worlds. Build quality and appearance are certainly on high level. Knobs turns smoothly bright switcher has no excessive play and that also applies to other components. The Kraken has great weight (comparing with usual pedals) and looks solid. As Boris The Blade used to say Heavy is good, Heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always hit them with it. Now I'll tell about minor negative thing. I was having high-pitched continuous beep after some time of work when I plugged it to multi-power supply (12V 1000mA and with isolated outputs claimed by the manufacturer). I had to switch to kraken's power supply so now it's ok. I think it's probably more problem with multi-power supply. Ok let's talk about the most important thing it is SOUND. My rig includes Clean Booster -> Overdrive pedal -> The Kraken -> Audio Interface -> Wall of Sound. In general it allows me to reach my purpose to get high gain sound for metal tones on red chanel. Maybe with 4 cable method connection with real amp it works better but in standalone mode it still needs some boosted impulse from pre-overdrive if you want to get tight punchy rithm to play with palm mute. So I wouldnt consider it as extremely high gain sound. But it doesn't diminish the greate tone of the Kraken at all it still does most of work of creating tone. I used it togheter with Kraken 412 speaker simulation and it works very well. Regarding sound itself comparing with amp simulators it is on couple levels above. I don't know how to explain, it feels more musical, touch sensetive, clear without mud and some noisy unmusical high frequensies that I get on sims. I can play for hours and I don't get earn fatigue. My ass and left leg get tired faster. And litteraly yesterday before I started write this review I discovered how amazing sounds natural harmonics. You can produce it on the several strings simulteniously e.g. and I don't know how to properly explain this feeling but at this moment you clearly understand that it works just as nature intended. By the way string difinition is also fantastic. Speaking of how it works with extended range guitars. I use 8 string guitar in standart tuning and it still sounds very well. Maybe it looses a bit to big brother but with proper cab you can get tight tone. After digital amps I'm a bit shocked and surprised. And I think that proper IR makes about 30% percent of work if not more. All in all I would strongly recommend it for those who are tired of amp sims and looking for better sound for playing in bedroom.

I added this to my Orange Dark Terror amp and it sounds great. The Dark Terror by itself is amazing, but it only has one channel. This pedal effectively adds two more channels, But I’m not here to talk about the Orange. This preamp pedal gives you all kinds of options from barely breaking up, to screaming, full metal high gain sounds, and even with the gain cranked, keeps individual note definition for extended chords if that’s your thing. I use mine with the amp through mode (connected through the effects loop) and in my opinion, that’s where it really shines. I’ve tried it between guitar and amp like a regular overdrive pedal and it sounds pretty great that way too. The bright switch seems to help dial in the pedal to the amp, but I’ve only tried it with the one amp. I have no complaints at all. Would buy again for sure.lackhand

I normally play flamenco guitar and have a very good acoustic amp I use for flamenco. I acquired an electric guitar, and needed a vintage overdrive sound, but I didn't want to buy another guitar amplifier. I got this pedal to use with a low gain amp at rehearsals. I didn't want to drag out my regular board or take it apart. I was looking for an inexpensive overdrive pedal. I saw this , read the reviews and said what the heck. I actually got the pedal for free as I had enough reward points. I regularly use a Boss Blues Driver which I have had for over ten years. I got the pedal and hooked it up and was pleasantly surprised. It is very comparable to my Blues Driver. It accepts both my Dunlop nine volt adapters and my One Spot power supplies. The case is metal. I may even incorporate it into my regular board for another degree of overdrive. If you are considering trying an OD pedal, you can't go wrong with this. I am a semi professional guitarist with over fifty years of playing experience. I use tube amps and mainly American Fender guitars. I know what I'm talking about. An OD pedal is not the same as a distortion pedal. The purpose of an OD is to push you're amp to a higher gain level than it may be capable of or to give you a little more guts when playing a lead without changing the settings on your amp. I mainly play blues, classic rock and country rock. I don't need the OD when playing through my Marshall.Doctor J
The Good: The sound of this thing is great for grimy, doom metal. It's easy to use, sounds great, and has a decent depth of customization. The Bad: You have to press in the hinges on the pedal itself as the battery is under the pedal. It was scratched up before I even got to play it because of this. There's no reason the manufacturer could not have just put a small door in the bottom of the unit like every other pedal I've ever used. Also, the first time I changed the battery, the negative wire pulled out of the connector. I've decided that since I already bought it and like the way it sounds, I'm going to jury-rig a battery connector outside the main body. It'll look like cr4p, but I'll be able to use it without damaging it further and won't have to spend extra for a 110v adapter. I had read about the difficulty changing the battery, but figured I'd give it a shot because it's got so low-priced. Had I gone to a brink and mortar store and seen it, I would not have purchased this unit. If someone already has an adapter they plan on using with it, by all means do so.Russ G

This is the great Ibanez Tube Screamer at its most cost-saving incarnation. Do what you have to do, but I would recommend at least trying this thing out. It's a legend, and if you hate it, at least you will know. Better to at least have a frame of reference on the TS9 because things are going to get compared to it an awful lot.If you are looking for a Distortion/Booster, and you haven't developed a certain pickiness yet, this will be a great buy. The Distortion tone of the TS9 will make for a nice overdriven EL34 lead sound, when used on the clean channel. Also, if you do want to boost the dirty channel of a tube amp, this thing can do wonders. Slide the gain down to zero and max the volume. You will get a huge, loud tube overdrive. Why I like the TS9DX so much is that you can now dial in Four Levels of gain for this booster setting. You should be able to get some serious metal OD out of even the shyest tube amp. TS9+ being my favorite booster setting.If this thing has any drawbacks, it's that it's a little bit midrangey. Of course, that is the exact reason a lot of people prefer it. Also, I wouldn't call it flimsy by any means, but I can't quite give it a perfect score on quality. That's just based on comparison to EHX pedals, which are tanks. If you can't buy this pedal, try one out today. If you end up with a favorite overdrive elsewhere, at least you can compare it to a Tube Screamer, which most people are familiar with.srinivassa
I bought this one on a lark about 5 years ago, even though I already had all their others. This particular model can be a bit tricky to use. For one thing, each setting from Turbo to TS9, requires some tweaking of the other knobs when changing from one to the other, as volume levels change when switched. The payoff comes from the fact that there are truly about a dozen overdrive pedals in there — from an exact copy of the current-issue TS9 to something that is more akin to a booster pedal. I often use this pedal next to another Screamer, so the variety of overdrive sounds at my toe tips is enormous. I can not decide if I like the "Hot" or the "Plus" setting the best, these being the two middle choices of the four. Funny, but the one called "Plus" — marked "TS9+" — should actually be named "TS9 minus." I think of the "Turbo" setting as sort of a specialty rock, booster, or "old" rock setting. You have to play with this box a lot to really find your personal favorite sounds, but once you do, that's it. I should mention that the three other knobs function just like any other Screamer, so if you already know Screamers, you're half-way home already. Of the many, many overdrives I can use, the TS9DX has a couple of sounds that I simply can not copy with any other gadget, including my high-end pro modeling units. Weird, huh? Well there good and bad with this one. I like it overall, decent buy i guess, not exactly what i wanted or expected. The TS9 setting is exactly that, sounds just like the stock reissue ts9. The + setting has more low end response and a little less gain while clearer-ish tone and more volume. the Hot setting is crunchy, with about the same amount of gain and still a little more bass response and a little more volume than +. The last setting has the most bass response and even a little less gain, thus a little clearer-ish tone and again a little more volume than HOT setting.I use the Plus (+) setting for a few reasons. I already have a stock TS9 (soon to be modded to 808 specs) second, the other settings have toooo much bass for my amp (fender deville) even with the bright switch on and bass down, too much. The tone is a little clearer and there is more volume than my ts9 so i use it as rhythm and boost with my ts9. With compression (MXR dyna) sounds great, great great tone, great great sustain, very happy with comp. Overall, good little pedal. Unless you want more bass response than a TS9 i would suggest getting a TS9 and get either an Analogman Mod or Keeley Mod depending on what kind of sound you want. If you want smooth overdrive, more gain, more vol., less mid hump; go with Analogman (silver or brown, silver is better) if you want crunchy/lots of gain, more volume, less mids; go with Keeley (Baked has lots of gain) Hope this helps.Anonymous

If you are looking for a good practice amp modeler that is compact and has quite an array of effects and amps than the Pocket Pod should do the trick. I gig regularly and felt the Pocket Pod would be ideal for gigs where I didn't want to haul my tube amp around. Sound wise I'm not disappointed in hooking my pocket pod up to a sound board. However, where this product ultimately fails is there is NO On/Off switch! To activate the pod you plug your guitar directly into the input jack and it comes on. Once on you pretty much have to leave the guitar plugged in for your entire set or risk getting a loud pop through the PA system. And leaving the pod plugged in makes the pod get very warm and drains your batteries. I have a circuit breaker guitar cable so I can switch guitars without getting the dreaded pop in the PA system. I'm sure the people at Line 6 cut out the On/Off feature to save room. But I've never seen any piece of equipment that can't be turned off with a button. Habe das Pedal zu Hause probiert, gibt das Signal unverfälscht weiter. Habe einen Auftritt damit gespielt, und der Tontechniker konnte das Gitarrensignal problemlos und in guter Qualität verstärken. Gut ist, dass zwei Ausgänge vorhanden sind. Also neben XLR für PA/Monitor kann man noch einen Verstärker betreiben, wenn nötig. EQ ist eher dezent, reicht aber völlig aus, um das Signal deutlich zu färben.

As a bass player who plays multiple styles but also unconventional lines, I needed a device capable of multiple tones. Many reputable companies have sounds they are known for and only that sound. I tried both configurations (in front of preamp/amp head and into FX loop return), and it really only worked well for me into the FX loop return bypassing the Amp head preamp, which is the way it was probably intended to be used. It sounds great for everything from Tool to Metallica and even got some pretty killer Sludge/Stoner sounds out of it with an OD in front (which is what I was buying it for hence the 5 stars). Dialing back the gain was able to produce some nice dirty blues sounds. As far as modern extreme metal sounds, I couldn't quite dial in anything like say Fit for an Autopsy or Whitechapel. I think you need to stick to 5150's and 6505's for that sound. Otherwise it can really cover the gamut for hard rock, punk, metal. Great preamp overallCosky
This is the overdrive pedal you want for anything 90's and heavy to even more modern sounds. I imagine it would be capable of pulling off Djent as well. Very versatile for heavy sounds. The gain is fat and saturated. The VH4 channel 3 gain is very distinct and this pedal gets you very close to that soubd at a fraction of the price. I run mine straight into a 6watt tube amp, and it gives me all the distortion i need. It also has killer tone, and the eq knobs are very reaponsive. Although it took about an hour of concerned and initially disappointed fiddling with the various settings and 4 amps I had before I got it to sound the way I wanted (like Tool), once I got there, whoa! Yes, this pedal makes the single biggest difference to sound like Adam Jones from Tool than any other item in the chain. I already had Mesa Boogie and Marshall valve amps, lots of pedals, a Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst, drop D tuning, heavy strings, and had always wondered about getting the actual VH4 amp. When I found this VH4 pedal I was sceptical initially, read some reviews, then took the chance, was initially disappointed for the first hour, but then bingo! This really does get you in the right place, and once the sound was right I was playing away for hours getting more and more pleased at how good it sounded. I realise that Tool use multiple amps, can play far better than I can, everything is recorded immaculately, blah blah blah, but for someone who wants to get close to the sound in a home environment for personal pleasure and to see what other things I can improvise sound like with a similar Tool sound, this pedal is perfect. So I would thoroughly recommend it, but just be patient initially – for the first hour I was getting that sinking feeling that I had wasted my money on chasing the impossible, as I tried plugged into this amp then that. In the end my best sound was plugging the pedal straight into the power amp of the Sub Zero 60 amp using the VH4 power amp output. That sounded better than going into the front end of the Mesa Boogie Nomad 45 and Marshall SL5. It really does sound like Tool, given all the caveats. I recently replaced a 5 watt Roland cube street with the more powerful cube street EX. I was disappointed that the EX did not come with Roland JC setting. The clean setting on the EX produced a sterile, cold sound that I warmed up nicely with the Behringer tube modeler. This was my only reason for purchasing this pedal. I have occasional use for a battery operated amp and this pedal allows me to get the warm tones that I require.Richard

Pedal has quality sounds that seem to work within relm of eq'ing. This pedal has it's own drive built in although a bit sensitive. Take your time and you can dial in some quality tones and sounds. I play lots of various music ranging from southern, blues and Christian rock and have been able to fine something nice that works with each style or genre. Again the pedal controls seem a little sensitive so take your time when you start with the pedal. I enjoy expermiemting so this facet is a-ok by me. Over all good pedal.Bo L.

I may have written a previous review so this might be an update… I purchased this pedal for the few times I would have to play on others' amps that don't have any effects as I already have two very good modeling amps. It works great on the modeling amps with the clean channels selected. Recently I bought a Fender Blues Jr which has no effects. I am in a small space where you really can't crank up the volume. To cut to the chase, the TM300 can stand toe to toe with either of my modeling amps, either plugged into them or the Blues Jr. In the modeling amps it provides more clean voices than the amps do without a lot of fiddling. You can also use the distortion/overdrive features instead of the amps' native on-board features if you wish. It is very intuitive and if you take the time to play with it you can come up with some very interesting combinations. I have a Les Paul Custom and a Fender Strat. And though both have upgraded pickups I couldn't quite get the sounds I wanted. The LP was a little too jazz-like and muddy when played in distortion thru the amps. The Strat was just tinny and quacky. I was considering changing out the pickups in both a second time. The TM300 breathed new life into my LP. I can now dial in the sound I want without having the change the pickups. The Strat has a richer fuller sound when I want and the quack when I want. I got this one simply because it was cheap and I just wanted to play around. Venti cinco dolares? Are you kidding me??? The only drawbacks are: 1) It has a plastic housing. It's not heavy duty like a Boss. 2) If you use 9V batteries you have to take the stomper off the change them. A minor annoyance. 3) If you use batteries you have to be careful to unplug the unit after use or it will burn thru your battery in less than a day. Or you will have to buy a 9V adapter. BUT… If you don't want power cables and like to keep things neater, the battery option will help and will also make it more portable as you don't have to pack a power cable if you go anywhere with it. This is my 3rd Behringer pedal, and though not the best in the world I own 3 for 75 buckaroos… less than the price of one professional pedal. For an amateur they work fine and can help a newbie find out what they like and need in pedals without a lot of financial pain.

For anyone who's never used this box, it's important to know that it's most effective use is as a preamp into either a power amp / speaker cab, OR, into a DI-to-PA or your s/w modeler. You will most likely be disappointed if you try to use it as typical stomp box in a chain-to-amp front end. The emulation in this box is powerful, and will really conflict with preamps and external modelers. Of course, one's desired sound is the ultimate yard stick, so whatever ends up producing what you want to hear in your music is the "right" thing to do. IMO, if you want to apply Tech 21 voicings in a normal amp / cab setup, your best bet are the Character Series pedals they make – the Liverpool, British, Oxford, etc. These pedals are very effective in all the typical applications, and have an extremely wide range of tonality. rgdsabradfordajb
I'm actually a big fan of the TECH 21 SansAmp TRI-A.C. and I think it's still the best programmable analog overdrive pedal or tube emulator. However, the TECH 21 SansAmp GT2 is the most versatile analog distortion pedal and amp simulator. The SansAmp GT2 can be a little over-the-top, but the extra gain is needed to get those hard rock and heavy metal tones that are just outside of the reach of the TRI-A.C. Get both!micromano
As an individual pedal its great but I also use an OMG pedal which is great too. The two together are just fantastic The guitar goes in to the tuner then wah OMG followed by the Sansamp finally delays. Could have bought the RK5 but it is Ok Would been cheaper. At least I have found the sound that I always wanted. Real bluesy rock sound. Rolling back the volume even fusion or contemporary jazzgbel62

Robert Keeley, a legend in the pedal world and such a fantastic guy. I own a number of his pedals going right back to when he was modding other brands many years ago and never had a problem with a single one of them. I'm confident that Robert would be there to fix anything if I did have a problem. The Katana was the first Keeley branded design and sounds as good as it ever did. It's capable of a pure clean boost that does not colour your tone one bit, right up to pushing into overdrive territory. The Mini Katana has internal dip switches giving more options and pushing the boost even further than the standard settings. One of the best clean boosts i have tried. Pairs well with almost any amp I've paired it with. Small footprint is one of the best things compared to the quality of this little guy. Take the plate off and there are some switches. Allows you to add a little grit to the boost. Try one for yourself you'll love it and you wont beat it for the price.MoneyMakinMitch
The king of tone! I don't use this to increase my volume but to fatten it up at the same output volume. Gives it more life! Also it has 2 trim pots inside for overdrive gain and treble cut off. I was debating between the mini and the original and glad I went with this. It has all the same features in a more compact and affordable price.Ammin
