Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Has what you need to have great sound with a headphone jack to play practice in a low noise enviroment. Ease of Use: It has a 3 band eq section that you can dial in easy to find a sound you like. Its no svtpro 7 but for the money you will not find a better amp in its class. Quality: This amp is made solid. Mimics the old school look of the 70s svt lineup. Value: With anything you purchase you wish you could get it for less thats just the way it is. But for the money you will not find a better sounding and well made rig in this class. The Microvr and 210 svtvr cab set up is da bomb. If you want portability light weight and the best sound get this AMPEG. Manufacturer Support: I have had no issues with this amp. Really great tone. I was worried the 8-inch wouldn't have enough bass, but it's got more than enough for bedroom volume or jamming with a guitarist. I've even used it at practice with my band. My drummer is quieter than most and it was actually able to keep up. Still, I wouldn't get this if you don't have something for practice/shows. Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
Bought this head for 162 ChF and combined with the Vox BC108 (85,-) it is a fantastic value. I should say, it is my first all-valve amp so I can't make many comparisons, but here is my general review. The amp reacts very nicely to changes in my guitar's output. Turning down the guitar volume or playing very softly gives me a clean sound even with lots of gain. The distortion is generally very harmonic and fuzzy. You can absolutely get a metal tone from this with a set of (higher output) humbuckers. You will need the "Phat" switch for anything high-gain, which will bypass the EQ, but to me it sounds great. The reverb sounds quite good and is very useful. The build quality and looks seem top-notch. There are three minor drawbacks. Firstly, even at 0,1 Watt it's fairly loud. Absolutely fine for lower gain tones, but late night metal in an apartment will be tough. Secondly, with headphones plugged in, the attenuator (wattage setting) is bypassed, so depending on the headphones high gain tones might deafen you. Thirdly (and this is a very minor nitpick), the Bass and Treble knobs don't have as much range as I'm used to. TLDR: Overall if you're looking for a simple old-school head with a fantastic value, this surely has to be it. All of my (admittedly nitpicky) issues with it can be fixed with an overdrive pedal.
First impression: On unboxing, the T5 did not make a great first impression. I thought it was B stock! It was literally covered in fingerprints! That greasy fingerprint look just doesn’t go well on black and chrome. It also had what looked like a tape glue mark near the logo. I got a good clean with a dry cloth. What a beautiful looking piece of gear this is, a vintage look that is to die for. The Bugera T5 Infinium Tube Amplifier is well built. It is heavy, certainly but well supported by a sturdy leather vintage style handle that makes it super portable. Tall rubber feet gave the T5 plenty of clearance to avoid cab handles. The front panel: The front panel sports a standard input jack socket, 5 Knobs, a “Phat” switch, a jeweled power light and a power switch. There is no “standby” switch. A matching chrome and black Bugera logo fronts the chrome cage. The controls: The Gain control increasingly pushes the amp into saturation as it is rotated clockwise producing a very usable overdrive. The treble and bass controls work as one expects – nothing unexpected there. The reverb was something of a surprise. Sounding rather “springy”, especially when added tastefully. A super reverberant wash is available beyond the 12 O’clock position. The Volume knob, perversely, does not seem to add volume. There is hardly and noticeable difference at all between the 11 o’clock position and when fully clockwise. Where the REAL volume push lies, is with the Phat switch. The Phat switch boosts the volume while bypassing the EQ. It certainly does make a huge difference – when engaged, one never wants to switch it off! The Back Panel: Power is via 3 pin IEC “kettle” plug. Also here are two quarter inch jacks. The first is for a 4 ohm speaker, although this is labeled as a minimum load, you can use 8 or 16 ohm cabs. The second jack is for headphones. Extra points to Bugera for not using a mini jack here! Bugera eliminate bias issues using what they call their “infinium” system. LED indicators show when a tube needs replacing. The T5’s is next to the phones jack socket. Inside: Under the hood things also look great but you will only really get to see this if you are curious or wish to swop out or replace tubes. Removing the cage reveals the transformers, tubes and a screen printed Bugera logo – it’s like an art piece! The tubes are very secure and it takes some determination to remove them – a good thing as secure is better. The inside of a T5 chassis reveals considerable digital circuitry – probably the reverb. Performance: For 5 Watts the T5 is certainly much louder than one expects. If your personal history is primarily solid state amps, this amplifier will be a wake up call as to why guitarists everywhere have refused to abandon tubes for so long. Blues tones from the T5 are beautiful – everything from almost clean to great crunch – everything a blues player looks for. Let down: I REALLY wanted this amp but it was let down by one thing. The amp I was using had an unpleasant "fuzzyness" when trying to get the cleanest possible sound out of it. This "fuzzyness" hung in the dying tail of a note and sounded exactly like a crossover problem in a push pull amp – but this is a Class A amp so how could that be?! When playing power chords it sounded like intermodulation – something didn’t sound right to me. Ironically, "digital noise" in my digital practice amp is WHY I wanted a tube amp in the first place! This was a different type of noise but just as distracting. I had no EL84’s so couldn't test that – but I did have a lower gain 12AU7 tube so was able to swop that with the 12AX7 hoping like crazy that it was a tube issue and that the problem would vanish (because I really DID like this amp) but it did not help. In the end, I reluctantly packed up the T5 and returned it. If you do get a chance, try one, I recommend this simply because if I just got a dud or damaged B stoc

Don't buy this amp expecting to gig with it at anything more than very low volume levels. Matched with sensitive speakers and master volume set at full, you might be happy with the volume you can get with maybe an acoustic set. The BAM 200 would be fine for practicing and jamming with a friend in the basement, but add drums and an amped guitarist and I think you will struggle to be heard. It's output sounds closer to 30 or 40 watts RMS, rather than the mystery 200 watts TC Electronics rates this mini. Tone was OK, a little fat if you over do the bass control and the preamp sections seems to overload easily, even with low output basses. I really don't have a good use for it after buying it, but it is easy to transport!airtow
The perfect no frills small unit. Haven't really road tested due to virus shutdowns but home bound sound is fantastic. I originally bought for a backup type amp but am quickly becoming enamored by its tonal qualities. Over the past few years I have been trying to reduce my equipment footprint and lugging around effort. I have another TC Electronics amp (BH250) along with a 2×12 cab and a 2×10 cab. These have been fantastic in small and medium venues – larger venues all seem to have their own sound systems which tap into my setup. Now, with the addition of this unit, I can even run my Rickenbacker in stereo without breaking my back hauling around a lot of equipment. The sound coming out of the BAM is smooth and even. Don't buy this amp expecting to gig with it at anything more than very low volume levels. Matched with sensitive speakers and master volume set at full, you might be happy with the volume you can get with maybe an acoustic set. The BAM 200 would be fine for practicing and jamming with a friend in the basement, but add drums and an amped guitarist and I think you will struggle to be heard. It's output sounds closer to 30 or 40 watts RMS, rather than the mystery 200 watts TC Electronics rates this mini. Tone was OK, a little fat if you over do the bass control and the preamp sections seems to overload easily, even with low output basses. I really don't have a good use for it after buying it, but it is easy to transport!airtow
The perfect no frills small unit. Haven't really road tested due to virus shutdowns but home bound sound is fantastic. I originally bought for a backup type amp but am quickly becoming enamored by its tonal qualities. Over the past few years I have been trying to reduce my equipment footprint and lugging around effort. I have another TC Electronics amp (BH250) along with a 2×12 cab and a 2×10 cab. These have been fantastic in small and medium venues – larger venues all seem to have their own sound systems which tap into my setup. Now, with the addition of this unit, I can even run my Rickenbacker in stereo without breaking my back hauling around a lot of equipment. The sound coming out of the BAM is smooth and even. I have played both electric and upright bass for 40+ years and like a lot of folks wanted a smaller, more portable, amp. I primarily play in a 4 piece acoustic group w/ 2 guitars, upright Bass, and violin. Volume is never an issue. I picked up a Max208 2 years ago and it has become my primary live amp. It sounds fantastic with either my MIJ fretless Precision A/E or any of my uprights. I have several larger rigs that sit in a closet as well as 2 Phil Jones amps (a Suitcase and a Briefcase) and I love the fact that the Peavey is: 1) Inexpensive, certainly for the level of performance. 2) Light and portable 3) Very flexible as far as tone control 4) Much better sounding live than the Phil Jones Briefcase which cannot match the low end of the 208. I did one mod to mine and added a Speakon / 1/4" combo jack to allow plugging in a small external speaker cabinet with it's own passive volume control that I locate behind the violin player who is on the opposite side of the stage from m and it works great for acoustic gigs giving a broad balanced stage sound. We only use (1) Bose L1 that all mics and guitars go through and it gives me an extremely portable system that has never let me down. I have a BSX Allegro EUB as well as a 53 Kay and an 80's Engelhardt. When I take the little Allegro and the 208 it is one trip from the car to the stage and ready to go. You can't beat it. If this ever gets lost, stolen, etc I will for sure get another. Peavey has a winner with this piece. I would highly recommend this to anyone (except someone looking to play loud rock) looking for a great inexpensive combo. If you want loud with it the 208 DI is very clean and it makes a fantasic stage monitor with the front angled speaker configuration.Steve
The sound to weight ratio on this amp is impressive. I bought it to replace/downsize an early 2000s Peavey TKO 115, and the 208 puts out more volume and weighs less than half as much as the 115! Simple controls, and enough options for a variety of genres. You get mild overdrive, vintage or modern voicing (via contour), sub-octave harmonics (via kosmos-c), and plenty of eq options. I'd recommend a cover (nearly any 12" loudspeaker cover will fit), because the finish is not as durable as previous models. This thing is fantastic. I was in the market for a practice amp, since I didn't want to lug around my bigger rig to and from practice. This beauty, pushing 100 watts, surpassed the sound quality I was hoping for significantly. The only major downside I can find if that it doesn't have it's own Direct Input, which makes it a little difficult to simulate my main tone. It doesn't respond as warmly to my Low-B as much as I'd like. But realistically for the price paid, I can't complain. The tone is as fantastic as anything you'd hear from ampeg. You get an overkill of volume for full band practice and plenty for smaller gigs. A nice plus is the head makes for a great backup in the event that your main rig fails. I was so happy to bring this home and expected it would be the perfect amp. Lightweight and cost effective. Tried it out at GC with my Boss DR 880 drum machine. Both drums & bass sounded very good, so I bought it. When I got it home I expected that my keyboards would be fair to good as well. Wrong, the Casio Cdp 100 was terrible. My Roland FP-5 was better but only about half way there compared to my Roland KC 350 keyboard amp. It was totally my fault to expect my keyboard to sound good on something made for bass. I guess I have learned my lesson. Guitar Center was gracious about taking it back and refunded my money less a small restocking fee because I ordered it rather than taking the floor demo amp. Save your boxes for full refunds.
Overall: When I got this amp I was surprised at how loud it is. I thought 100w wasn’t going to be enough until I read it is 100w RMS… thus meaning it’s actually a 200w peak amp. I run the amp flat, and get the tones I want from my Fender Jazz Active Deluxe with the 3 band eq built in. It’s excellent for getting 70s clean Ampeg bass tone I was looking for through without it costing me my back or too much money. If you’re looking for a versatile amp with modern tech and old school tones, this is it. I run the amp and a DI for church without the cab, but at home I barely have it under “2” for volume. The aux plug is great but a little muddy for songs that have a wide range. It’s very well built and it has some weight to it. Definitely good for gospel, funk, r&b and rock. I was in the store two days ago and played through this amp. The B300HD model is great. It's not too heavy and sonically, it'ss quite versatile for a budget amp. Unfortunately, this specific head unit is fried. After around 5 minutes of playing through it, the sound got distorted and started fading until nothing was pushing through to the cabinet. After a short break, it would work for about another 5 minutes and then started acting up again. I plugged it into 3 different cabs and used 3 different bases just to make sure that it was the head unit. I brought it to the counter and told the salesman what had happened. He said that he would take care of it, but apparently it's still on the sales floor. I'm giving 2 stars only because of how it sounded before it blew up.Butch Bobcat
Very excited to reduce the lugging weight from my previous amp which was about 40 pounds down to 7.5 pounds. Nice features. Nice EQ. 300watts in a small package. I put mine on a laptop shelf on a mic stand. Easy to reach all the controls. All in all very nice. However the amp started cutting out after about 20 minutes. After the third try I called Musicians Friend to return it. Musicians Friends customer service was excellent. No muss, no fuss. I had to wait for the replacement because it was on backorder, but it still came in pretty fast. The new one has been working no issues for several hours (2 hours at a time). All in all I'm happy but it will take a little time to gain confidence in this one. I gave it 4 stars, but Musicians Friend should get 5 stars for the service.Bassman
Bought used from a local GC. Didn't test it in the store, but plugged it in immediately when I got home. Sounded great with all tone controls at 12, super lo off, super hi off, notch filter off, and gains set to 9:30. I haven't had time to really tweak tones, but it has the flexibility for me. Was looking forward to this amp. Came recommended from other musicians. When I received the package it appeared that it had already been opened, re-taped & new staples were put it. Played the amp for an hour at lower to mid volume and everything was fine. Played amp again next day for about 30 mins again low to mid volume, everything was fine and was starting to get a sound dialed in. Plugged in to really test it out on day three, 10-15 mins at low volume and decided to crank it up. Gain was set to not clip and master I set at 2-3 O'clock position. Hit a note and amp made a click sound and that was it. No output to speakers. Amp would should a clip level on the LED but no sound out to the speakers. Returned to GC that night.A
I have had this amp for about one month and have gigged with it 10 times now. I have used it on 2 1×2 with a 6" cabinets, Ive used it with a 15 with an 8" cabinet and I have used it with my 15" 12' 8" tweeter cabinet and for the most part it tuned fairly well to each cabinet and the situation I was in. I primarily use a sterling sh5 so I am looking for warmth clarity power punch and sustain. It hits the mark 99 % of the time. Power is fast and solid. Love the tube feel and sound up front. Tone controls are very responsive. the 2 things that are missing for me is on the tone I cant quite get the balance between warm clean bottom and a touch of clean high for what I call the 180 degree mix. The second thing is no nutrix connection??? I primarily play country music modern and classic and it just barely misses that sound Im looking for. I am going to try a few externals to see if I can find it with this amp. I have Edens, Ampegs, Genz Benz, Fenders, SWR and Epifoni to compare with. I love all of these amps. The edens probably has the best tone but lacks everything else that this amp has to offer. I am a purist and I don't use any pedals or effects if I don't have to. I am old school and been doing this for 41 years so maybe Im a bit fuddy duddy. This amp is very nice and small with great power and versatile tone 4 stars for me
I bought this amp and 2 Mark Bass cabs; the Traveller 1×15 and Traveller 2×10. I like this amp head a lot. Indeed, it is not an full on tube bass amp, but the tube it does have inside of it makes a difference. The power and tone, ease in transport, and versatility of the head and cabs is fantastic. I can run either cab or both together, and it has an XLR out with an output level control! That is a great feature and sound guys love it. I bought rack ears for this (from MF) and in my opinion they were slightly overpriced just for 2 bent pieces of steel with holes in them, BUT the amp now sits protected in a rack I have with an EQ and power strip. I used to have it in a bag and I'd have to hook everything up for each gig and it was getting scratched from transport. Now it's safe and I just plug and play. I play an (active) Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling 5 string bass. I agree that the mute push/pull is not great on the amp but I just turn the volume pot all the way down on my bass between sets. I use a basic, digital chromatic tuner plugged from the tuner out of the amp and it works fine. When I first got the amp, before using a rack-mount EQ, I had a Hartke pre-amp pedal because I felt like the amp was a little dull sounding. That pedal broke from gigging so now I use an EQ which basically does the same thing. I haven't experimented with the tube/S.S. blend so I just keep it in the middle. I barely have the Variable Preshape Filter or Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator engaged; I have both knobs halfway around the 1st hash mark and it makes it sound slightly "old school" which I like. I prefer the low rumble of a 5 string but for other players that prefer a more melodic sound I can see those tone shapers being beneficial. I found a tone I like but there are many options and this amp is great for any style, especially slapping. I have heard nothing but praise for Mark Bass and after 2 summers gigging with it I am extremely happy with the way this amp has never once had a problem. It has been put the test in hot, humid, salt-air environments for long periods of time. Once the speakers in the cabs got broken in the tone got even more fantastic. This amp is stylish and well-made and has just enough volume for practice with a small uke group. At full volume and with the gain on half, it is equivalent to my Vox Pathfinder Bass (10W) on 4. The gain at 3/4 gives it more volume but the sound starts getting a bit bright and jangly for the passive pickup u-bass. I'm using with it. Might be ok for a bass guitar. I attached an old guitar strap to the screw-in side buttons which works really well for carrying it.danners17

I use one of these for my nylon string Godin Multiac. I blend the nylon with a GR33 synth and run both signals into this amp on the clean channel. The issue I've always had with amplified nylon string guitars is the 'plucky' or 'plasticy' sound of them through guitar amps. This bass amp solved the problem for me. With the amp's treble and bass rolled off completely I can get a very round clear tone by using the guitar's eq to provide the brightness. Very light and powerful, and an unexpected solution to a long-standing problem I've experienced. The electric violinist in the band tried his setup through my amp with almost identical settings and he bought one also! Works very well for bass also, in a small setting.Jan-Mikael
TLDR: BUY IT! I ordered this amp when I bought my very first bass. For years I was stuck with a school Ampeg Little Stud bass from 1973. The bass itself was 40 pounds, and for all of its vintage appeal, I was not impressed by its condition or playability. The amp was even worse. It was a Backline 112 that weighed 50 pounds, and when I performed with it in a school gymnasium with a capacity of a mere 400 people, nobody heard me playing. When I bought my bass I knew that I needed a new amp. Enter the Rumble 100. If this is your first amp, you might think this is a little pricey, but trust me, it is beyond worth it. I'm only 5'1", and while I could carry the heavy Ampeg bass and amp, it was starting to hurt my back. But this amp is incredibly light. I almost expected it to have zero bottom end. But when I played it, I was shocked. The sound was very well-supported, even if it's played with the bass, low, and mid down and treble all the way up (which I wouldn't recommend… I mean, it's a bass amp…) I've loved this amp ever since. But I'm not a "pro" yet, so let me tell you what some professional musicians thought when they saw my amp. I performed with a popular local brass band that has been together since 1980. Altogether they have 50+ years of touring and gigging experience. They're used to lugging some pretty heavy equipment. When I walked in to the auditorium, I had my bass case slung over my shoulder, my amp in my hands, and all my music nestled under my arm. Of course the stage crew at the door all thought that the tiny chick (me) was about to drop everything, so they rushed over to help me by picking up my amp. They went, "What? We're wondering where the inside went, Is this it?" They thought it would sound awful. But that night, in front of 2,000 people (and there was a bass solo), everybody said they could hear me perfectly. The design is simple, the onboard controls are very effective and not too complex, and it plays loud and proud without hurting you.Bass Clef Kid
Like the rest of the bass players out there I've used all of the major brands. From old-school Acoustic Control heads and cabs from the '70's, to Ampegs etc etc etc…Well I've reached the point where that level of stage volume isn't needed for what I'm doing now; I shopped around, and despite some of the amazing combos available, I landed on this one. Actually the guitar player in our band mentioned that he had bought the 50watt version of this. I played through it and was impressed. For me it's the ideal unit for what I'm doing now – I still play some heavy rock (Mountain, Cream, Cactus, Trower), but when volume is required we of course use the FOH and good monitors for stage support. Having the onboard direct out is the best as it allows me to go direct into whatever board is being used, whether live or recording. Don't be fooled by the small size; the size is a real asset in terms of portability. The head is where it all starts, and the tonal range is wide so you can dial in your sound. In a live situation there's plenty of lows, highs and depth of tone. Playing in various size venues is no problem – this will carry without going through FOH in churches, smaller bars & clubs (50-100 capacity). Larger venues or live situations where stage volume is needed for impact or performance, then my personal recommendation is to use this as a personal monitoring device and go through the PA & stage monitor as a direct through the board. One last thing; the amp sounds as good on 3 as it does on 7. Any more than than 7 and it starts pushing the speaker, and not in a good way. But I've had this for several months now, use it gigging and recording regularly and overall am simply satisfied with the purchase. Like everything, this amp has limitations. You're not going to get the punch or volume of a high powered rig, and you really shouldn't be using a combo for something like that. But whether you're a beginner, novice, or weekend warrior or pro this amp, as well as the rest of this product line, is a tremendous option.jb

I'm a Fender fan to the core. I love their electric guitars and amps but their Amps aren't even affordable anymore. They've completely out priced themselves and either you are going to pay for a severely overpriced bare bones amp or a severely overpriced amp with far more electronics than a lot of us care to deal with. This is a great sized combo amp that's easy to use and has a great sound and plenty of power and all at a great price!!! There is no reason Fender couldn't do more of this…combo's that aren't easy to use with plenty of effects and a fair price for blue collar musicians. I used a Fender Princeton Chorus combo this same size mic'd through a sound system for over two decades and it started having issues. This was the closest amp I could get (and afford). The 100 has everything you need in a combo amp and at a fraction of the price of everything else Fender makes. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!Josh
I bought this amp because my gig amp died a cyber twin 2-12s 100 watts that was about 16 years old. I have had many Fender amps they were great. I do country and 50s and 60s rock and roll. I figured 100 watts would put it out there and it does. At performing volume, the distortion is a pure heavy metal on the clean channel. Mine is not much good for high volume for my type of music. I have an old champion 110 75 watt that I will be using It has worked for me when the others were down. Not sure what to do.stev_majo
Sound: With the second channel .First it had the twin reverb and super sonic voicing with a chain loop for pedals I was set on that alone. When it got to the house and realized I didn't need my pedal chain and it sounds amazing even though ill still use my pedals here and there. The bassman, tweeds , Princeton all clean or dirty are amazing to play . again to get those sounds with out the tubes and speakers is amazing.. You get volumes that punch against you that are clear without any nasty whitenoise or unwanted sounds. the dirty settings added with the compression build in make all that possible. Outta all my guitars I enjoy to plug into this amp .My 63 firebird , g400 s.g. and my jaguar Ease of Use: Its real easy for me to get the sounds I need .I'm well aware of all the amps they used for the voicing.For new players it might take a little to understand but with no time you'll understand how to dial it in and add the right effects to the amp models to get those amazing fender amps . Quality: Only had it for a week but as for holding it up and down 3 flights of stairs at the studio in Philadelphia id say the strap is well build . Speakers have not blown but I have not had to dial all the way up amps loud as it is half way . Value: yes it is im surprised its not another $100 more.Wish more companies would do this. I know the tubes will make a difference but not much to this amp unless you have the trained ear for tubes you can't tell.The 2nd channel with all the voice modeling Id say every setting is 99.7 spot on with the models . I love this amp .After watching a few videos online of the 100 I decided to go with it .My friend has the champion 50 so I have already played through this style of amp. When I saw the 2×12 combo version with a double channel pedal it was set in stone . I love combos more than any kind of amp . I came on zZounds looking for an amp to hit the road to the higher states of the new England area of the states in November and December and a long ride from New Jersey to Chicago and Milwaukee in January . the amazing price for a well build and sounding amp there was no way i wasn't gonna leave the website with out another toy.So after adding to the card I headed over to guitars and ordered the squier 70s classic vibe jaguar .One of my favorite things about this amp is I don't have to change out the speakers to get that sound I want. its easy for me to use because I know how to dial in the right sounds to get the sound of the amps in amp unit.Mike

Overall: I had an Acoustic B200 Combo amp. I loved the sound of it because it had the same sound as the old '70's era Acoustic bass amps. I like a clean, clear bass sound. After burning up the power amps in two of the B200's I decided it was time to try something else, so I bought the Rumble 200. I plugged it in and turned it on for the first time, and in about 60 seconds I found the exact sound I was looking for – just like my old Acoustic. The tone controls are way simpler to figure out than the Acoustic was. It's nice to have a good sounding bass amp that I can carry with one hand! The only complaint I have is that the controls are on the top of the amp on the backside, that's why I rated features a 4. If they were on the frontside of the top that would be better, but front mounted would be best. But for the sound, quality, and price this is a very minor inconvenience. It's a good sounding and good looking little unit!Brett
Overall: I read all the reviews for this before making a decision between this amp and an Ampeg with a 15". I love Sunn and Ampeg bass amps: that is what I grew up with along with a Fender 100 tube amp that had a four 12 cabinet that rocked. Some reviewers stated this amp was straight out of the sixties or sounded like an old Bassman. They are right. First time I turned it on and turned it up a bit it sounded just like my Bassman 100 but with a deep throaty sound that old school bass players like me crave. How Fender was able to get a true tube sound into this solid state amp is pure genius. I feels like a tube amp. Deep and it seems to have a slight sag to it. Very impressive. I turn the horn off, leave the eq knobs at straight détente, use the vintage button in and it sounds incredible The overdrive channel is a monster to itself: horn off, straight up eq and you can go from mild breakup like you would get with slightly overdriven preamp tubes to an amp maxed out. think of Grand Funk, Deep Purple etc. I haven't spoken about the volume and wattage yet. When you crank it up to where you feel your pant legs wobbling and your stomach churning you realize that this is no toy. The decibels this can put out are truly amazing for it's size. I runs at 120 watts as is but add another 8 ohm cab and it jumps to 200 watts. That 120 is loud as hell and the only reason to add another cab is if you want a couple of tens and it would sound great. Myself, I would add the Fender one 15 cab and get that volume and bass that would take the house down. Looks like a toy, but a real fire breather inside.Mark

800W Thunder Box. So far, so good, so what, right? Many preset settings to try and find the right sound, or you can jump online and find user premade settings and tweak to your earhole's content. Connect via Bluetooth and change settings with your phone (via app) or the footswitch. It pumps much air, so probably not the best home practice amp if you value glass in and around your home, but perfect for every other application. Recommended outside toy. Overall: unless you are on tour with Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, or Metalica I can't imagine you needing much more than this combo offers. I have many basses, and i am able to capture the individual characteristics of each easily. I owned, and still own a Rumble 500 V3 and love that also. The technical advancements, and improvements are the reason I purchased it. I saw a future in updateable firmware, downloadable presets, WiFi capabilities, and USB capabilities. I am about a little over my third month with the Stage 800, and I haven't even started with the foot pedal, set list programming and looping. All we really wanna know is what does it sound like? It sounds like just about everything I've ever heard and that is good. Forget the name, or intended preset, the question is does it sound good? It sounds fantastic. In addition it is light and plenty loud, but can played silently while you practice through your earphones, as you're learning music streaming through your Bluetooth connection. The foot switch is included with the Stage 800, and you have the Fender Tone App you can download on your phone and adjust the tone from across the room, and download new presets created by other users. This thing is wonderful. For such a tiny speaker with low wattage, RUMBLE, is no joke and not just advertising. I'm surprised but at low volumes it sounds great, and mid as well. I've yet to pump it to the max but I live in an apartment so I'm happy w/ low to mid. The presets are great, and you can download an additional 50 or so presets with the computer application. The tones are sweet and warm; Fender got it RIGHT!! Beats the VOX emulator by far. VOX sounds tinny and hollow; Fender warm and thick; love it and would recommend. THANK YOU FENDER!! The Elf is like the Yoda of bass amps. Though it may be small, it is packed with the power of the force. I use this amp with a pair of the Trace Elliot 1×10 cabinets and it will easily cover 95% + of my gigging needs. The tone is classic TE and it is certainly loud enough (running at 200W) to keep up with an "average" rock band with a couple guitars and acoustic drums. Now, it's NOT going to make your trousers flap in the wind of excessive SPLs or send patrons running to the loo from super intense low frequency coming off the stage's backline but that's where the Elf's built-in Direct Out comes into play and it works and sounds great. Your audio tech will be duly impressed with your tone blasting out of the house (FOH) speakers. Many buy the Elf as a backup amp and because of its size and light weight that makes good sense but truthfully it can hold its own as a main amp. Well, certainly for my needs it can. I have owned Ampeg, Eden, SWR, Fender and a few other bass rigs. All were refrigerator-sized and weight. I plugged this little guy in along with the 208 cab and was totally blown away by the quality of the tone, the volume level and the size. The salesguy at the store even told me I was too loud. Put this baby smack in a corner of the stage and your presence is well felt and heard across the room. it won't knock your pants legs loose but it will be clean and powerful enough bass to be present amongst the other instruments. If you need anymore umph then the DI is a fantastic feature. The Elf puts out a really clean signal to the board. One con about the DI, there is no pre/post switch. I can imagine the components inside are packed like sardines so no more room for anything like that unless T E releases an Elf Mach II in the future. No Mute switch either. This unit is so lightweight and compact it's no issue to bring it along anywhere. Got rid of all of the refrigerator units to get the Elf with 2X8 cab. Well worth the investment. Just so small! Have this sat on top of a TC electronics BC 208 2×8 cabinet and whilst it's a bit too much for a home practice set up it's incredibly practical for home practice. Sounds great through the cabinet and can be stashed in a small space and moved around easily. Casting my memory back the first half decent combo I bought (back in the 1990s) was a Trace Elliot 1×15 with delivering about 130W. It weighed a ton. The Elf and 2×8 sounds every bit as good as the old combo (bit tighter, less rich low end from the cabinet) but moving it around is a breeze. If you're planning to use it only at home practice volumes be aware that although the fan noise is quiet, it is audible when playing at neighbour-friendly levels. Still five stars as there's no way to have 200W of power in such a compact unit without a fan and the fan is a very quiet fan.Ledgerwood C.

Holy cow, how the Rumble series have come into their own! Back when I last played music the Rumble series was kind of naff but this has really grown up! I'm told the 40w is the lowest power Rumble to get Class D amplification. I don't if that's true or not (Class D is still solid state), but the difference in tone between this and the 10-25w practice amps is remarkable. This one just has that something extra and finally "sounds like a bass" vs smaller amps. And it's not volume, it's tone. I chose this over other amps for the 4 band EQ and having control over the mids; having knobs for low and high mids feels like better tone shaping for my purposes than a mids and a contour knob. YMMV. The only thing I would add to the Rumble 40 would be a built-in tuner. I would rather have a tuner than the rather weak drive Fender included. I would ignore the drive and use a pedal if you want that sound. But that's small potatoes because the clean signal is so, SO good. If you're looking for a home amp, stretch the budget a little and get the Rumble 40; the difference in tone from a 10-25w FAR outpaces the difference in price. This amp is one of the best bargains in bass playing.Eric

THIS IS THE WORST bass amp I have ever played. 10 minutes out of the box and I packed it up and sent it back. It offers faithful reproductions of all the classic Fender amps from the early 50's to present day, Ampeg SVT presets, Gallien-Krueger KGB-800, SWR Redhead, Tube Preamps, Marshalls, Oranges, and Hi-Watts. All useful. Rock, Metal, Jazz, Country, Motown, Funk, Soul, Latin, Fusion, Reggae…it's all covered. Google and YouTube offered very little help.The Bluetooth works, but randomly disconnects, and sometimes takes multiple attempts to connect and reconnect.There are workarounds, I suppose. I believe firmware updates could be done by hooking the amp up (via USB) to your computer. You can run an auxillary cord into the amp from your phone or tablet to play along with drum loops or songs. Even with these issues, the sounds alone are the selling point of this amp. It's pretty amazing.

Was looking for a small light weight amp whilst away from home, not wanting to lug around my heavy tube amp, cab and good sized pedal board. This amp fit's the bill perfectly. This amp sounds great, the onboard effects sound good to my ear. And I also like the controls on this amp. Simple layout that makes it easy and fast to dial in a decent sound. If you need more flexibility the architect software, which is a free download from Blackstar, is straight forward to use giving you even more flexibility. Another thing I like about this amp is as I'm away I often need to us headphones, no to disturb the neighbours, through the architect software, you can change the cab simulation from 112, 212, 412, even choose what mic simulation is used, which I think it's an excellent addition to this already impressive small amp. This amp also sounds great through its built-in speakers, giving it a great stereo sound. For this price I honestly cannot fault it, I did look at other amps but settled for this. I hate amp hunting. I wanted something small and specific for a home studio. Shiny cleans with some grit too? Quality build? Under $600? I searched the used listings for weeks trying to find a deal. Nothing really GETS me. Finally, utterly sick of shopping, I walked into Sam Ash, saw this thing on the shelf and just bought it. Didnt try it. Just read the specs online, read a few reviews and snagged it. I figure, worst case scenario I'll return it tomorrow. Let me say, the sound from this amp is just so incredibly nice. Even without pedals, the built in reverb sounds very good. Not splashy, more like a plate reverb. Adding a transparent overdrive makes my G&L ASAT sound like a tone monster. I have no specific affinity for Blackstar. Never owned a single one of their products and I am totally blown away by this thing. I don't know a thing about the tonal waveforms and harmonic frequencies of the most expensive boutique amps but, on a stage or studio I'd put this amp up to pretty much anything. It FEELS good. It sounds good. Between my guitar and an overdrive pedal and the tone knob on the amp itself, I'm able to pull at least 6 very distinct tones before I even engage the dirty channel. I bought this amp a few months ago after LOTS of research, having finally decided to replace my previous amp of about 20 years! (A Marshall AVT half stack) Firstly, it looks amazing IMO and build quality looks and feels great too. I play in two bands, one playing southern rock, the other heavy rock/classic metal so needed something that was going to cover a pretty wide range of sounds. The Blackstar handles it amazingly! Wonderful warm crunches all the way to chugalicious highly saturated metal gains. The high gains are so smooth and creamy too and not 'scratchy'. (Something I always struggled with with the AVT) The clarity is also pretty amazing at high gain too. Individual notes can be picked out clearly and not just lost in a fuzzy mush. The 2 OD channels work perfectly for the two separate sounds I'm looking for to suit each band, with Voicing on each channel giving even more versatility. This amp produces beautiful cleans too, which can also break up nicely if you push the clean channel volume up. I'd also really recommend the optional 5-way footswitch, shame this doesn't come as standard, but hey..! All in all, I'm absolutely over the moon with this amp. It can do everything from sparkling cleans to tasty crunch and up to all the gain you could wish for. I've even been able to get THAT Stevie Ray Vaughan tone! 😍 But not only that, it's not some 'Jack of all trades, master of none'…it absolutley nails all of these brilliantly! I picked this up to use predominantly as a low wattage gigging head. I've since found myself using it for almost everything. PRS doesn't load a bunch of features into this amp. It is simply a guitar amp which is why it's as good as it is. This is a two channel footswitchable (included) amp. It has no effects or reverb. The clean channel is one of the best and most usable clean channels I have played on. It has its on eq and a treble boost. It would probably make a great pedal platform but I prefer to use it simply as a clean. The dirty channel can deliver anything you ask it to from classic 70's to modern metal. It has more gain available than anyone probably needs. If you know how to use the volume knob on your guitar you will find this amp to be very responsive. I keep the gain at about 10 o'clock and dual in what I need with the volume knob on my guitar. Both channels play extremely well with pedals. I've had the best results using the effects loop for time based and modulation type effects. Frequency and drive work great through the front end. I waited to review this until I got some rehearsals and gigs under its wings. This thing is built like a tank and travels quite well. For rehearsals I run it through a 4/12 with equipped with Celestion 70/80s. It's more than loud enough to get over a live drummer. It sounds louder than a 50 watt head I was using for rehearsals. Live I run it through a 2/12 and mic the cabinet with a 57. It sounds great and is very consistent. It's convenient size, durability, and overall sound have resulted in it becoming the first head I reach for in almost every situation now. This is a really great practical amp for any performing guitarist.Michael
Not a bedroom playing amp. Crazy loud! Huge gain! Sounds like a beast. More like 50 watts. At low levels it's sounds poor. But turned up it can't be played in a bedroom. Had the cops called twice on me and I live in a house with decent amount of space between the homes. Best metal amp out.Todd
Sound: This is the best amp I’ve played for most styles. Features: I’d like reverb but does it have to have it? Nope. Ease of Use: It started off with a great sound! Quality: Amazing quality! Value: Worth every penny Manufacturer Support: Never needed them The Wow Factor: The blue and red Led lights were an awesome touch! Overall: This is an amazing amp. To put it through its paces I used a tiny micro terror and a Mesa Boogie 2×12 cabinet. Using a Richie Kotzen tele and an EMG-loaded Les Paul Custom, I tried many different styles.I started off with the eq at noon and at half-power. The first thing was that this amp throws a lot of low-end. But it is not unusable in any way. It is just full. The only way to really experience this is by playing is I guess.The boost also worked amazingly. I do wish that is is footswitch-controlled because it throws a lot more gain.Then there is the lead channel. After experiencing the clean volume, I started with volume off and gradually brought it in. The highest I could get it without causing pain was 9:00. This amp is loud as hell! The lead sounded every bit as good as my Mesa Tremoverb and Road King , so I wasn’t missing anything in the gain department. Reverb would have been great, but I have pedals I guess.At the end of the day, this is the happiest I’ve ever been with an amplifier. I look forward to years of incredible sounds in a small package. Remember, this was not full power!Jon
