I played D'addario strings for the first 10 years I played guitar, then about 4 years ago I decided to take a shot at making a custom gauge set specifically for my guitar. Ernie ball strings are easier to find individually so I changed brands. I can't even begin to describe how much of a difference it makes having consistently ascending string tensions across the fretboard on my 7-string (~21 lbs at low end to ~13 lbs at high end) especially for fast players. Sweeps and arpeggios immediately feel more natural. My 7-string is currently tuned to drop G (d,A,F,C,g,D,G). With a 25.5" scale the best gauges are .010,.014,.019,.028,.039,.056, and .074 if you want a good middle ground between tight strings and bendability. I have a Jackson that has single-coil pickups in the middle/neck position. The guitar is in standard D and I use the 10-52 Ernie Ball set. The 17 gauge G string always sounded a bit weird on the neck pickup. After hours of googling and youtubing I found out that this is rather common on unwound strings (esp. the G). Switching to the wound 18-gauge string was all I needed to cure this problem. It makes it quite a bit harder to bend the string though.Mike

I use these for tuning down to B standard and they are perfect with or without a tremolo. They feel firm enough, but not too tight and make for easy shredding. I wouldn't suggest going lower than B standard, but they would probably still hold the up well in A# or even A standard. I don't tune down lower than B and wouldn't know how well they do going lower. I get a lot of good old school death metal tones with these stings. I've tried a lot of different strings and these are the only ones that really are made for lower tunings. They do their job, sound great and last a very long time. It's very simple really. You put them on, stretch them out a little, tune up and you're in knee deep in metal \m/Foul Phil
I first used DDTs on my 4 string bass. I put this particular set on a Peavy Strat clone and it's sitting in BEADC right now will full string tension. Of note is the need for less extra string on the lower two since the "EAD" (or BEA in my case) are fundamentally light bass strings and you probably won't have enough room for a proper wrap due to the smaller machine heads.Jared

But when i saw they had round core available i ordered a set of 6 string strings. They were so good ,i asked about a 12 string set. I put these on my Gibson J-55 and man what a difference over the phosphor bronze that came stock. I have yet to put them on my '29/'31 L3 or Custom Shop martin 0018, but I really adore the sound on my J-55. The J-55 has an Adirondack top, mahogany back/sides and is essentially a Gibson version of a Martin D-18 without the super boomy low end. I love these strings and they really bring out the natural woody tone of the guitar, which is how it should be in my opinion. After using these I really like the sound, and in a weird way I'm closer to that guitar than I ever was before, the phosphor bronze that were on the guitar were just too bright and metallic, I prefer the natural earthy tones. I put this guitar in different tunings and these strings really open it up there and in standard tuning as well. I can't wait to put these on my Martin 000, I just got it so the strings on it are fresh but they're 80/20s and I really don't like them. You can't go wrong with these strings. I'm going to be using them on my acoustics forever. Just vintage, natural, woody earthy tones and I couldn't be happier!Antonio

My Mitchell MS450 (single cutaway LP style guitar) came with D'Add's, which sounded decent. When I switched them out, I went with the GHS 10's on a hunch based on things I've heard. Great move! I used 11's from D'Addario for years and I would break a string consistently for every show that I played. I do not know why I kept with D'Addario for so long. I figured I needed to have a heavier string gauge for durability and better tone. Searched around and came across these strings in the heavy gauge, and I could not be happier with them. These strings have great sustain, are durable, do not corrode as quickly as other brands I have used in my professional career playing music, and, despite their heaviness, are easy to play in standard tuning. Along with playing well with a pick and fingers, these strings also sound terrific when playing slide. You can get the same great tones out of these strings that Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks have with their lighter gauges, as well as channeling the fat tones that you hear from Duane Allman from the Fillmore East show. Great Garcia tones can come from these strings as well. Basically what I am saying is that you can still get those classic guitar sounds on these heavy strings without feeling like your losing tone or playing opportunities utilized by the players that inspire you who may use lighter string gauges. These strings also (as far as I know) have a round core instead of a hex core. I think that might be a reason why these strings have so much sustain, especially when you have some distortion or overdrive keeping them warm while playing lead. If you are on the fence about getting these, I recommend you give them a try just see how they work for you. They are no that expensive and its worth it to figure out what works for you as a player. Feeling confidence in the gear you use is so essential to being comfortable on stage. Buy a pack and see what happens. You might find yourself just what you've been looking for.JFromJUNCO
I used to use Boomers for about 10 years, on all my electrics (9s). Until arthritis started creeping in. Switched to EB slinky 8s, and playing became much easier. Everything still had a huge sound, but previous order added a test set of the Boomer 8.5s for my Gibson Les Paul goldtop with P90s. Took a while to get used to the rougher feel compared with the EB 8s. But will probably order another set for the goldtop, and a set for my ES295.Joe S.

I like the strings, but the over advertising on emails is really annoying. I’m not sure who is your marketing manager, but your time would be well spent at NAAM, Local guitar dealers, online advertising, etc. Maybe even getting a contract to put your strings on specialty guitars from the manufacturer, along with specs that only you meet. I had been reading about these strings in forums etc and was intrigued. Decided to try a set or two and see what was up. I bought the 10-52 Signatures. Well, I have been using them for a month and a half and all I can say is, believe the hype. The feel great, nice on the fingers, and it seems like the difference in quality of the metal is noticeable. I mean, it feels that way. Maybe it's something else. I put a set of elixirs on my breedlove after I bought it. I was happy with the tone and I left them on the guitar for about ten months. I'm mainly a bass player, and this is my living room guitar, so I don't change the strings every month or every couple weeks. I made the mistake of buying some cleartone strings recently. After two weeks on my breedlove, they now sound worse than the elixirs did after nearly a year. The tone dies as fast on cleartones as it does on a set of uncoated acoustic strings. The worst part is that I now have an extra set of cleartones (I bought the 3-pack and gave a set away) that I don't even want to use as a backup set. BUY ELIXIR.
I honestly didn't expect much from these strings. I thought I had tried enough different brands to be confident that I found the right brand for me. I had got a free set of these Dunlop strings when I bought a replacement capo and I expected to save them for an emergency. Well that emergency came at a gig a few weeks ago so the past week I have been using these strings. They are amazing. I usually dislike the brassyness of new strings. I prefer them after they have been broken in after a few days of playing. These Dunlop strings sound great right out of the box. They have a nice crisp/bright sound but with a mellowness that takes away the harshness that most new strings have. They really bring my Gibson to life. The only way I can describe it is of an earthy, natural tone. Just really great stings. I would recommend giving them a try. I really wanted nothing to do with them and they won me over. N/A So far so good. I have been playing them a little over a week without any problems. I played through a gig and they held up great. I usually change my strings every week or so depending on my schedule so I can't say much as far as the long haul. The break in pretty good tone wise. About the same price as everything elsejpgd888
