I have experiences with various pickups, mostly the passive kind, that have left me wanting. The last kind, also a Fishman, had a rubber covering for the sound hole that interfered with my finger picking, and then having the cord dribble out from the front of the sound hold left something to be desired too. This unit, though on the pricey side, is just what the doctor ordered. Clear, crisp tone – sounds like your guitar! And you get to play to your heart's content with whether you want the pickups or the mic or both to capture that sound. I can tell you that you can probably spend the rest of your life seeking that "sweet spot" for the position of the condenser mic. My 2 cents on the long debated Buzz stop…. I don't use the trem on my jag but I can see how having one might put more friction the movement of strings when wiggling the stick. The hole for the trem switch on the buzz stop is not quite big enough to slide the trem switch into lock position, so I took the trem out, put so wood underneath so it was locked open and couldn't wiggle, then the buzz stop can sit on top with the trem locked down without any probs. Overall: I bought a set of these pickups in January 2022. Shipping was the usual zZounds crazy fast, so kudos for that. I bought these to replace the p90s in an Epiphone Les Paul Special TV Yellow guitar. First thing you need to know is that this set comes with only 3 pots, the 2 push pull tone pots and only one standard volume pot. All pots are 25K. So if you want it in a Les Paul or any guitar with 2 volume pots, you will need to purchase a 25K volume pot separately. I got one from Stew Mac because they were on back order from zZounds. The pots on this set work fine in a flat top guitar without a cap, but if you have a Les Paul or other guitar with a cap, the pots on this set will likely be too short, so you will need to purchase a set of long pots. I believe they can be purchased directly from Fishman.Next quirk is that theses pickups don't come with the springs that fit over the screws that you use to adjust pickup height, so don't throw away the screws from the pickups you're replacing.Finally, at least in my guitar, I had to remove the foam pad at the bottom of the neck pickup cavity in order to have the pickup for. This is because in the LP special TV yellow, the hole that allows passage of the wires from the neck pickup out to the control cavity is located on the low E string side of the pickup cavity (the side closest to the ceiling when holding the guitar in playing position). The pickup wires connect via a quick connect to this side of the pickup so they end up getting bunched up under the pickup in order to get out the hole to the control cavity and if you don't remove that foam, the pickup will not seat. With the foam out the pickup sits well. This is not an issue with the bridge pickup because the hole exiting the bridge pickup cavity is at the opposite end and the wires from the pickup do not need to bunch up under the pickup.Installation is fairly straightforward if you know how to solder. The knobs on my import epiphone fit fine on to the pot shafts.The pickups sound great. Absolutely no hum. It's a little weird that there's no hum but I'm sure I'll get used to it. The 3 voicings are subtle but definitely discernible. The neck pickup and middle position sound amazing. So rich and complex. Pickups are very responsive to your touch and the volume control. They have really improved the versatility of this guitar.

These things are awesome. had them for a while now .. been playing the same set of strings on em for 8 months I know its a while for a set of strings but I wanted to put these to the test. I have no lie either used it during practice of for sweaty gigs every weekend since for 8 months. 1 As long as you wipe your strings off after gigs which should be a habbit anyway this will help out with string life. 2 Sustain is improved a lot. 3 With this being a softer material they actually help in that unwanted body sound for those who don't gate your rigs our guitar lines. its not a muter by any means but I did notice the guitar is a little more straight forward. 4 My main dislike is after putting them on im not sure what or why but its like I lost 50% of my pinch mutes with this guitar. it kinda makes me scared to upgrade my les paul styled bridge on other guitars with this. 5 For those who use these and play low low action I play mine around 4/64s and I use this guitar as one of my main guitars a lot of hand movement on the picking hand .. I thought he could take it with him to kill time in the car or use to chill and easily practice playing guitar in bed or wherever he is. – Nope I also thought worst case scenario my 12 yr old son could practice his cords on it without having to bring his guitar around with him. – Nope You can't do anything with it because there is no way to strum it. There are no strings to strum! Just a plastic molded plate that looks like strings. Even if if you try strumming the neck (the portion that does have strings), it makes no sound either, so you don't really know if you are making the cord correctly if it's for practice purposes. The videos on YouTube make it seem like people are really enjoying jamming on it and as though the onlookers are actually enjoying as well – but you would get just as much pleasure out of picking up a broom to pretend to jam on. This would be better if the cover locked in place when you are playing. Since it doesn't, every time you try to slide up the neck the cover starts to close. So if you want to just play simple chords to work your calouses, great. but any other use is really limited by the closing cover. Also the string adjustment is poorly crafted. It is designed to be changed from the exterior with an Allen wrench, but the quality is so poor the holes don't line up. So you have to use a screw driver to open the cover to make the adjustments. I also asked if they traded used pedals towards a new pedal and, yes I walked out with a new distortion pedal!! Strings are the lowest around town and in stock. These 3250 nickel plated steel wound fender strings really sound good with the bullet ends (more surface touching the tremolo) and steel is stronger and less likely to break on a large bend and the sound is a little stronger on the pickup I've been playing 30 plus years and tried many string types and this is what I buy!!! I like regular gauge .10-.46 but the choice is yours =JamMan= play till I drop……
The reason I tried these strings (3150R) was because i bought a Telecaster (Baja) in 2007. I read about fret wear being less because it matches the alloy in the frets of new Fender guitars, in comparison to steel strings. Therefore there is the hope it offers less wear and tear on the frets. I had also had problems with the Telecaster 'icepick' sound on the bridge pickup. These strings softened the icepick sound I was getting with steel strings. They last for up to 4-6 months. I think the Tele and nickel string combo is a winner for me. My attitude towards Fender strings changed after this, so I tried the bullets on my Strats. Guess what they were even better with tremelo dives and resistance to detuning. But I thought the pure nickel really affected the sound I got. I like the biting sound from steel strings (GHS Boomers, 10-46) on both a 1970 Stratocaster and a Lace sensor stock equipped 1990 Strat Ultra, so I choose the nickel-plated (3250R) steel strings. Pure joy of sound from both. I had to get a refret on the '70 Strat in 2010, so it was a good move to use these strings to avoid fret wear.

After trying a few different brands and gauges of strings over a five year period I have finally found the perfect brand/set of strings for playing in C# and drop-B tunings. I started out playing Ernie Ball sets on a 25.5 scale guitar in standard tuning but when I began experimenting with down-tuning I found the EB sets to be lacking in tone and definition the lower I tuned my guitar not to mention constantly breaking my low E string. When I switched to playing a 24 3/4 scale guitar in C# and drop-B I had to start looking for a new set of strings because the EB "not even slinky" sets I had been using just were not cutting it. I tried Dean Markley Blue Steel .13's with a wound 3rd string and found the top strings to be cumbersome and the low .56 still not heavy enough for dropping the low E to B. I went to every single music shop in town looking for a light top/extremely heavy bottom set and I finally ran across the GHS .10 – .60 set on sale, two for the price of one. Perfect! These strings last forever. If you use some GHS Fast Fret on them they keep their tone better than any other brand of string I've tried and I have yet to break a string in the year or so I've been using the GHS .10-.60 sets. The tone is fantastic and they sound great on a mahogony/maple body guitar with EMG pickups. It does take some getting used to the difference in string gauge between the low and high strings but it didn't take me long to learn to adjust my pick attack for the lighter strings on the top end. If you know how to set up your guitar for heavy gauge strings get 'em and go to town! If not I would highly recommend you take your guitar to a guitar/music shop and have it set up by a pro. Oh, for you kids out there: these strings are NOT meant for standard tuning and they will not make you sound like Zakk Wylde but they might make you a better guitarist if used as intended. touring in the 80s I used GHS boomers GBCL, I stopped playing in the 90s and somehow ended up using EB hybrid slinkys. I found an old pack of boomers in a guitar case compartment i hadnt opened since 93. Somehow they were still fresh and strung up one of my guitars from the 80s. Wow, the wound strings EAD (or C# G# C# my tuning) are definitely Louder and breakthrough more than the wound EBs… (the plain steel sounded identical). There are soooooooo many fake garbage and laughable opinions on guitar products these days on the tube that I decided to do my own experiment to confirm what I was hearing. I proceeded to purchase 26 packs of these GHS boomers GBCL (which are the wound strings from a 10s set and the plain strings from a 9s set). Using 2 identical guitars (even color), Logic X via a PreSonus FireStudio input, dunlop red acrylic 1.5mm pick and as consistent as possible pick of each strings. The only difference was that each guitar had a new set of strings, one got GHS boomers GBCL and the other ErnieBall HyBrid Slinkys. I averaged the 12 picks of each string by merging the 12 waveforms into a single track for each guitar for each string, the wound strings of the GHS boomers were clearly louder, rang longer by at least 7.2, 5.9, 4.6 seconds respectively (tuned toC#, G#, C#). the Plain Steel string waveforms were virtually Identical between the sets though. If you arent sure what this tuning is, its simply DropD half a step down (aka dropC#). Plugged into a Dual Rectifier, Laney and a Vetta, on a high gain channel you get this Extra Gain that breaks through, so needless to say ill be back to using GHS boomers GBCLs on all my guitars!!!thundercab

Bought these strings cause I have been using Dunlop 10's for a few years now and wanted to try out a set of 7's. They do sound a little brighter to me then 10's as one would expect but they still have great tone. I can see why someone with a problem like arthritis should use these strings, fingering a cord is effortless and bends a just ridiculous. I could bend up 2 whole steps without a problem. If you use these you have to be a very light player. When I swapped out the 10's on my Les Paul for these I was thinking I could lower the action a bit but as it turns out if I played as hard as I did before I would get al kinds of buzzing. I would guess this is cause there is less tension on the strings which would allow the range they move to be more then a higher gauge string. I gave these 5 stars cause they are great strings, have great tone, I never broke a string in the time I used them and they stayed in tune. That being said I have since gone to 9's. As I said there not for everyone. I would recommend them to a friend but only if they were looking for the qualities that I found these strings to have.Shot
I've been using 7's for the past several years on my Epiphone SG's (with Gibson '57 humbuckers), and although they make the sound understandably a bit thin or tinny, you can make up for this a little bit depending on the amp you have. Even so, the better feel is what I was really after, and these have come through every time in that respect. My hands don't cramp up or anything, and I can do string bends with total ease. Previously I had used 8's, which I think were Ernie Ball, but noticed a better difference in feel and playability when I switched to these 7's (by the way, I use .46 Dunlop picks and have for many years). From the reviews I've read on these the past few years, a lot of people like these 7's like I do, so I hope Dunlop doesn't stop making them anytime soon. Their price is very reasonable too. I will say, however, that I've had a few issues at times with the high B & E strings popping out of the bridge saddle and, in the case of the high E, even getting snagged on the bottom edge of a fret or two, but this could've been the condition of the guitar too, plus my SG's are tuned a 1/2 step down from standard pitch, so the strings are even slinkier than they would be otherwise. Also, I've very rarely ever broken one of these 7's (if I ever have), but nonetheless there's an increased risk, surely, of that happening due to their thinness. Still, all things considered, I like these strings and will continue to use them when possible.Rick
These strings feel like clothes hangers. Hard and stiff and non responsive. They do not stay in tune after stretching. I feel bad to review this product poorly. I have always played Dean Markley Blue Steels forever…. trying these makes me understand why I would never change what works. ZZ Tops sound is amazing and how Billy G gets there is all his own… just would never work for me. All the Dunlop strings feel stiff and hard to the fingertips…. sorry… not sorrylongwhip

Obviously pickup/sound preferences are subjective and gear dependent but I think this is definitely a standard for neck pickups.This is hands down my favorite one and I have had it in at least 5 guitars. It’s warm but not fuzzy, clear but not overly bright, and has sounded great under any level of gain. Great if you play multiple genres. I primarily play higher-gain styles and the Jazz is great for leads. If you think a ‘59 is too bright, this will do the trick.Alex
Have been looking to buy this set of Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Special pickups almost the day they were released; However, living in Canada, there is a 3 month to one year delay on new products becoming available. Bought to replace standard MIM strat humbucker. Sounds good, not amazingly different from the stock pickup, but good. Doesn't split as well as stock. Sounds best with overdrive. Didn't fit standard humbucker opening or adjusting screw holes. Come on Seymour Duncan, this is made to fit these guitars specifically, and it doesn't fit without modification. I got a set of these to install into an old beater of a Schecter I have. Let me start with the conclusion: they sound great. Really massive tone, with a great high end sizzle and tight bottom. They might be some of the best sounding pups I have ever played, quite frankly. There are two negatives that I want to bring up: First, I do not really feel like there is a lot of tonal difference between the two voices. It's really hard to tell apart, to be honest. The good news is that both sound great. Second, the install was harder than usual. I am not a pro by any means and probably not even very good with the soldering iron but hey, they could have made it easier. First of all, the set comes with two push-pull pots and one 25K volume pot. All pots have short, wide stems. My guitar has three pots, two volume and one tone. I had to drill out the hole for the tone pot (which has the push pull for the two voices). Fine. The wiring diagram suggested that there ought to have been a wire that connected to the bridge with a single white wire. No such wire appeared in the box I got. This confused me for a while, until I finally just hooked up a two wire connector with orange and yellow wires. In retrospect, having searched Fishman's site for wiring diagrams, I see that the wires that came in my box correspond to the other models in the fluence line while the wiring diagrams don't. Whether this was a mistake on part of the folks that packaged the particular box I got or not, I do not know. It is possible that if I had wired it differently the tonal differences in the two voicings would have been clearer. Anyway, for anyone who is considering these as aftermarket pickups, I would recommend that you take some time studying the various wiring diagrams on the Fishman site, and order correctly spec'ed pots for your guitar before doing an install. If you go with the Will Adler preferred wiring, you also need to get a second 25K volume pot (only one included in the package).Bjorn

These Saddles are 1000 times more comfortable than the original bent metal vintage saddles that came stock on my MIM Strat. I love the tone of the original strat saddles, but they were very uncomfortable to play, as I rest my hand on the bridge while playing. I play classic Rock and do not use the vibrato bar, and keep the bridge decked at all times. After changing them out, there is a noticeable spike in the midrange that was not there before. It is not necessarily a bad thing, just different and something to keep in mind when changing any parts on your guitar. It was easy to dial the extra mids out with the amp's EQ. Now my strat is super comfortable to play, so I play it more often, and it still sounds like my strat with changes made to my EQ settings…

If you're replacing a bridge on a Gibson guitar this is the best of their bridges to buy. It provides added space for saddle movement to get superior intonation. NOTE: I saw a comment (or two) regarding this bridge that I kind of couldn't believe, so here's the deal: If you buy this bridge YOU must establish the individual string slots in the saddles. There's a reason replacement bridges like this one don't come pre-cut; there are different necks and different individual preferences for string alignment (particularly along the edge of the neck for the 1st and 6th strings). The solution: Buy a cheap set of jeweler's files and use the triangular one to cut the string slots once you've decided precisely where you want the strings to line up. This is not exactly a task for anyone who's not accustomed to working on their own guitars. It's really easy to screw this up so take your time figuring out the string spacing and their alignments before you cut any slots in the saddles.RocknRobin
Well …gibson is an obvious choice if u want high quality …unfortunately i didn't notice in the picture that it was not slotted for the strings which is a good thing if your replacing and have to make the bridge fit the guitar but i bought this to put on a luthier project which needs to be set correctly. its perfect if your buying it for a replacement bridge on a restoration but if your building your own guitar i would find a slotted bridge.telehater85
