I have rarely relied on a loop machine in my 33+ years of performing music. I've had a DigiTec JamMan for a long time but found it too difficult to co-ordinate short phrases into a piece. I used it more with sampling of ambient sound than musical phrases. I've only had the Boss RC-500 for a short time but already find it much easier to use. I haven't even experimented with the percussion aspects but I can see great possibilities. I'm a great fan of Boss and Roland. They make quality , well thought out, aids for musical expression. Have not used it live yet. Still getting friendly with it. There are a lot of rhythm patterns to choose from but many of them are very similar. Some of the functions I would have thought would be accessible through MIDI are not, but there are ways to work around most of them. Overall it seems like a great unit for a moderate price. The sound quality is very good. One disappointment is that I had the impression you could download rhythm patterns to replace the ones you don't care to use – you can't download them as rhythms, only as backing tracks. Look for the reference manual (not the owners manual) and study it before you buy if you have specific expectations.Glenn K
I decided to buy a looper last year to use primarily for practice, and for easily capturing ideas and riffs. I settled on the Boss RC-1 and it performed great. The biggest limitation was only being able to capture one idea at a time. I started looking around for something with more memory locations and I found the RC-5 as an upgrade. I am blown away by the included drums and the device's ability to determine the tempo. As a tool for capturing multiple ideas and being able to back them up to a PC, this is perfect. I haven't tested the midi capability yet. I could easily see using this in an actual performance in the future. It's pedalboard-friendly size makes it very easy to carry around.Joe G

If you are looking for a good practice amp modeler that is compact and has quite an array of effects and amps than the Pocket Pod should do the trick. I gig regularly and felt the Pocket Pod would be ideal for gigs where I didn't want to haul my tube amp around. Sound wise I'm not disappointed in hooking my pocket pod up to a sound board. However, where this product ultimately fails is there is NO On/Off switch! To activate the pod you plug your guitar directly into the input jack and it comes on. Once on you pretty much have to leave the guitar plugged in for your entire set or risk getting a loud pop through the PA system. And leaving the pod plugged in makes the pod get very warm and drains your batteries. I have a circuit breaker guitar cable so I can switch guitars without getting the dreaded pop in the PA system. I'm sure the people at Line 6 cut out the On/Off feature to save room. But I've never seen any piece of equipment that can't be turned off with a button. First off, I didn't have the latest firmware update, and loops were going a bit wonky and astray. With latest firmware and most issues solved, I'm finding this an absolute joy, particularly with the fuller, less 'in the box' sound that looper tend to get when you pile lots of loops on top of each other- so much space and headroom. I came from the RC300, but was still a lot of work to get my head around even setting up as before, but worth it in the end. Particularly useful to the way I loop are the 4banks of 4 effects which I can now preset for each song, and scroll through with a foot pedal with so many fewer clicks than previously. Okay, slightly weird what floats the boat of a looper, I know… but, less clicks! Also loving that I can assign 3 of the 4 effects to my violin (INST in) and 1 to my MIC in. Didn't think I'd be bothered by the 3 extra loops, but now I've less effect clicking to do I'm finding that loops 4-6 do get used, and arrangements are getting more varied. It's also physically smaller, and saved me taking extra pedals – really important and so damn useful for me, when travelling. A fabulous piece of kit. PS: I'm also so enjoying the 6 outputs, too – it's solved a long-standing mic and inst out of the same output dilemma.

I've had an Rc505 for a year or so now and was excited to get my hands on this RC600. The floor setup is great, although you can't quite do everything with your feet. With a shoe off you can do most of the functions with a toe, but you still have to bend over to mess with it. The included drum loops in this are a massive upgrade from the RC505. Tons of character and room to play around with there – even settings for fills etc at the end of loops. I've only had this two days, so I'll update my review after some more time with it, but so far I feel like it sounds better, the extra instrument and mic inputs are a huge boost, and overall it's been pretty easy to use coming from the 505.Sterling

Had this on want list for awhile. Bought it new when I saw a price break of 17% on MF. Software & plugins misadvertised by IK multimedia. They make it sound like you get all the iOS and OS X plugins and amplitube included with the pedal. Well some you do as freebie hook and bait and others you have to buy. They do give you Amplitube 4 Deluxe which is good, (4)-T-Racks processors, Mic Room, Ableton Live 9 Lite (Mac/PC), Amplitube Acoustic, VocalLive and Mic Room for iOS .I already previously bought Amplitube Max for OS X and most of the iPad amps & stomp effects apps for iOS. Previously using iRig HD as interface into iPad Pro 12.9 1st Gen. This pedal allows you to control amp and stomp effects for live performances and studio using stomp mode and LIVE settings and to scroll between user saved settings and favorites. I am constantly tweaking my user settings. I mount iPad on separate stand with an extension cable not included, so I can control some settings with my fingers. tips and tricks. I like how IK Multimedia approaches tone through modeling Amplifiers very quality sounding industry top of the line manufacturers. Tuner is good. I figured out by accident by placing finger and holding on volume knobs on amps using ASSIGN CONTROL to assign a selected parameter to pedal or external controller. You can save this to your settings and the parameters you select are highlighted in faint yellow color. I was wanting to see a volume pedal and this satisfied my desire. Having to have an iPad or Computer is not cheap to use with this pedal, but top of the line stuff here IMHO. IK Multimedia is an Italian company and product. I have been playing guitar for a long time. I was certified by the Recording Workshop in Ohio, for studio recording (though I am an amateur). I will admit, I already owned an iPhone 8s, and had already purchased a few of the amp models in the app to use with iRig HD, which I feel is important, because if this product is to be used with iOS, it comes with a very limited set of amps. On PC/Mac it has much wider utility out of the box. However, this product is great. The tones I have been getting are fantastic, I can emulate famous tones I hear on records, pretty much on the fly, the presets are not great, but the recording is, imo, high quality and sound really good. I have not used this on an iPhone 7, and have heard there are issues, but on PC and my iPhone 8s, it has worked great. Because I liked this so much, I splurged and bought a new iPad, and upgraded the software to the MAX version, and I really love, it. I have had the stomp for about a month and a half, and bought the iPad 12 days ago, I will be returning it and getting more storage, because I have already created so much new content from the ease of use, I am worried I'll fill up the smaller capacity at only 32gb. The only real negative I have experienced, has been: if I have the app running on my iOS device, and unplug and the stomp from my device, and then reconnect the stomp, it will not work. I have to stop the app, reconnect the stomp and restart the app. It's annoying but no big deal, as I don't have to unplug it very often in the middle of using it, but enough that I noticed the issue.Nel
First of all, I paid $200 for the floor pedal that controls my amp, and that’s all it does, but this for $300 for me wasn’t a hard choice honestly. The first thing I did was plug my phone into it, then ran a cable to my practice amp, and it sounds great! It was so easy to use since I already have AmpliTube for the iPhone, and I’m looking forward to checking out Ableton 10 lite and the AmpliTube custom shop (both came with it), but I also use some Positive Grid products, like Bias FX and JamUp. I was happily surprised to find out, with a small amount of “googling”, that this can be used with just about anything you’d want to use it with. You just have to slightly mess around with the midi assignments (look it up if you’re scared, it’s super easy) and you can use it as a controller for other amp/music programs and recording software. Very easy to use and built like a tank. I had to watch a few demo videos to learn how the controls worked and interacted but it didn't take but a few minutes. Playback quality is very good with tons of storage for created loops. My only issue is with what Boss calls "Drum Tracks". There's only 10 of them and their sound quality is piercing. You can load your own via the usb connection though. Also, it only stores wav files from external sources so converting songs you only have as mp3 etc. to wav is an extra step I could do without. I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. Its not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, its a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, its 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one.jonaha650
Have been nothing but pleased with the Boss RC-1 loop pedal. I currently use it in conjunction with my Digitech RP1000 and it has really allowed me creative freedom while practicing. I bought this since the RP1000 only has a 20 second looping feature, while this one can go as long as I need. I like how you can easily layer riffs on top of one another, delete when you make mistakes, and stop altogether with just the stomp of the pedal. It's amazing. Nothing else to say. I have rarely relied on a loop machine in my 33+ years of performing music. I've had a DigiTec JamMan for a long time but found it too difficult to co-ordinate short phrases into a piece. I used it more with sampling of ambient sound than musical phrases. I've only had the Boss RC-500 for a short time but already find it much easier to use. I haven't even experimented with the percussion aspects but I can see great possibilities. I'm a great fan of Boss and Roland. They make quality , well thought out, aids for musical expression. Have not used it live yet. Still getting friendly with it. There are a lot of rhythm patterns to choose from but many of them are very similar. Some of the functions I would have thought would be accessible through MIDI are not, but there are ways to work around most of them. Overall it seems like a great unit for a moderate price. The sound quality is very good. One disappointment is that I had the impression you could download rhythm patterns to replace the ones you don't care to use – you can't download them as rhythms, only as backing tracks. Look for the reference manual (not the owners manual) and study it before you buy if you have specific expectations.Glenn K
I decided to buy a looper last year to use primarily for practice, and for easily capturing ideas and riffs. I settled on the Boss RC-1 and it performed great. The biggest limitation was only being able to capture one idea at a time. I started looking around for something with more memory locations and I found the RC-5 as an upgrade. I am blown away by the included drums and the device's ability to determine the tempo. As a tool for capturing multiple ideas and being able to back them up to a PC, this is perfect. I haven't tested the midi capability yet. I could easily see using this in an actual performance in the future. It's pedalboard-friendly size makes it very easy to carry around.Joe G

I've had two of these pedals die over the last couple years. The first one died one month after the warranty expired – when plugging it in, two LEDs lit up and it wouldn't pass signal. Contacted Difitech & they swapped it with another. 13 months later, the same thing happened. Digitech said someone from service would contact me but the never did. I'm reluctant to mention this pedal as it is a stealth secret weapon. I'm sure many like myself have struggled, particularly in the studio, to coax that magic feedback out. Often, when recording… even getting up in the monitors or by the cab, I'm just not using the gain, or I'm direct in and not at the volume or proximity of any speaker reflections etc to get feedback, also.. if I'm using other effects like a bit of flange modulation it really messes with the ability to get feedback. So this solves that problem by giving me a range of options for natural controlled or even unstable feedback, in intervals from suboctave to piercing, and I can make it sound natural or deliberate like a stationary whammy pedal at an interval. It's really very useful in many ways. And even using the Kemper and noise gates, solid state power.. this gives me easy access to breeding edge hot rodded pushed Marshall etc easily in a live setting. It's one of the coolest pedals with so many ways to use it in the studio and live. I reserve it for special moments, of sometimes use it low in the mix to trail sustaining chords with a singing interval. It's good to add a bell/ring hi octave sparkle to leads. So it's fuel for your imagination and keeps me away from keyboards on my guitar-centric recordings to get pad and string effects, too! Don't tell anyone!!!! It's all coaxed out of the guitar and amp, we are purists, right? Sometimes in today's digital and often sterile music world of very controlled sounds we need a little help. This is it! When I watched the videos about this pedal, I had to have it. Once I plugged it in, I was a little disappointed. It did what it said it was going to do. With some tweaks, I got the desired effect. For that feedback sound, it really only works best with single sustained notes. Chords or power chords work, but not as well. I'm not sure if this is just a novelty, or if this is going to be a useful tool. The best mode is the momentary latch ON with dry ON. This gives the ability for feedback on demand. I can see using it on solos or ending a song. The other options like momentary OFF or dry OFF, have that eBow sound. Personly, it didn't seem that useful for my style. One note on the sound. If you use the Freqout with a clean tone, you can tell what the pedal is doing. When the "feedback" is enabled, a harmonic tone drones over the dry signal then slowly takes over like a reverse gate. Overall: I've been playing through a Headrush gigboard and needed something different that was just as easy to use, had plenty of tones that were inspiring, that didn't cost as much. I've owned a few Line 6 products over the 30 years of playing music and decided to buy the Pod Go. So worth it! The tones were better than expected, and if you can't afford the Helix series, this is the best choice for a floor unit under $500. The built in expression pedal with toe switch is perfect. You can switch between volume and wah wah or other parameters just by pressing the toe switch in the expression pedal. Basically you don't have to have another expression pedal. The built in pedal can do what you need. I am not tech savvy, I bought the Headrush gigboard last year because of how easy it is to use. I didn't think a floor unit could be. Then comes the Pod Go. It's actually much easier to use than the Headrush. Granted the two have different features but I found making your own sounds easier with the Pod Go. It seems I make them in a shorter time. The color display along with color footswitches make organizing sounds easier than making coffee. If you need a floor unit under 500 the Pod Go is the best choice on the market. If you're a metal head or a traditional Jazz player or love the complexity of Fusion, the Pod Go has your sound.
I was looking at purchasing a Helix LT and upon researching I came across the Pod Go Wireless. It does everything I required from the Helix but at less than half the price, size and weight. You can dial in some great tones, I use it through an 80w Marshall combi straight into the FX return (turning off the cab sim on the Pod) and it sounds very impressive. The amount of effects to choose from is incredible and you can tweak so many variables to get that perfect tone. The wah treadle is very good but it’s not so great when used as a volume pedal as it doesn’t seem to gradually increase/decrease the volume, it’s almost on/off. The wireless feature is very good, I’ve not had any connection issues and don’t have to worry about treading on my cable, which I’m very prone to. Overall, for what I need in a jamming/garage band capacity it is perfect and I’m very, very pleased with the purchase. PMT delivered the next day, it was very well packaged and was the best price I found on the internet.Martin M.
Overall: I wish I could say something positive about this unit. Although it does have some great sounds and features, the fact that it is constantly having to be rebooted because it freezes up or shuts down on its own make it pretty much worthless (Yes I’ve done all the updates and other futile suggestions from the support folks at line 6). Add to that a power supply that is a complete piece of crap. It’s cheap, fragile and generally a bad design. It is almost impossible to find a replacement because line 6 wanted it that way. Simply using a Standard, generic replacement (9v 2500 mA) Is tricky and not guaranteed to work. My review for this product: Look for something else better from a company who is not obsessed with nickel and diming their customers to death over some ridiculous accessory.

I use this with a Mission EP-1. I got this instead of a whammy pedal for its polyphonic capabilities and smaller footprint. With an expression pedal it's incredibly versatile. The pedal does color your tone a bit when it's switched on. As far as I can tell, it compresses the guitar signal slightly. It does not sound bad at all. I'm hugely influenced by Trey Anastasio and I use this setup the same way he uses his whammy pedal, which is mostly for down-bends when playing lead, with the occasional octave effect. When playing with an expression pedal, when you start to bend towards the end of the effect range, tracking starts to lag a bit. Since I don't use this for detuning, this really isn't an issue for me. For whole step down bends and octaves this thing is absolutely killer, however I have an AnalogMan CompROSSor on the way that I'm going to put directly after this to hopefully help even out the subtle variations in tone through the range of the effect. Trey uses this to his advantage with his whammy pedal, but I also plan to use this for the occasional faux slide lick and the compressor should really help make it sound more authentic, like how Jimmy Herring uses his whammy bar. With the Mission EP-1 the setup ends up being more expensive than a digitech whammy pedal, but I think it works better, having owned a whammy pedal in the past. I can see how some of this pedal's shortcomings could be dealbreakers for some players. I would not recommend it for detuning, but for everything I use it for, it's vastly superior to the digitech whammy pedal.ERockwell505

This is a very interesting pedal to expand the tones of your guitar. You can make it sound like a bass or even octave higher. Just name a few you can make it play a major 3, minor 3, perfect 4 and 5th and more than that over the note you are playing. It's like someone is playing with you. Well worth the money. Recommend just to give yourself some ideas on expanding the band. For example if I have it on perfect 4th. It will give me idea on how if a keyboard would sound playing along in the fourth of my notes. One example, also what 2 guitars would sound like in unison.

Ok. There are a bunch of different looper pedals available these days with a wide price range. I wanted a simple ( budget priced) looper to lay down ideas on the fly and groove over my rhythm. So..i put a microphone into this and record my rhythm into my Peavey mixer and jam away. I did notice that running this into my simple tube mic preamp (behringer w/ lower gain 5751) made a huge difference on the final sound. For the price of these little pedals…you can't go wrong. Operations are not intuitive. Very frustrating, high learning curve. Too many possible setting selections to be done in a certain sequence. Reminds me of my first digital electric wrist watch instruction sheet. " Press 1, hold 2 for 3 seconds, press 1 once more, press and hold 1 and 2 once for each display item, press twice to delete, once more to set default…" Try to remember that each time you want to set the time or alarm. However—Once I learned how to use it, I totally love it. It's like a miniature recording studio. It will only accept a 1Gb or less memory card. Anything larger will not work. It has an input for both instrument and microphone. Most others only have one. Knowing precisely when to end recording takes a lot of practice. If not done exactly right, the playback loop will not be complete. I always start recording with the bass line, no vocals and always use the metronome, mic off. Once you're satisfied with that, you can overdub to your hearts content. I would recommend writing down exact initial startup settings for the mic and instrument volume knobs. That way, you can control recorded levels for vocals and instruments. If you are recording a song with dominant guitar presence, raise it a little before you start recording. If you want a soft harmony vocalin the background, lower the mic volume before starting. You cannot change individual track levels once they are recorded or overdubbed.ron6253
I've owned a Jamman Solo for a few years now and haven't spent much time with it for various reasons. When I finally got to spend some time, it was not that easy for me to use. I watched some You Tube videos on how to use it, which got me going faster than trying to read the manual, and I was overdubbing with ease on the factory pre-set loops. For some reason, which I haven't had time to figure out, I cannot create my own loop from scratch. I follow the directions, but I cannot even get started. The drum machine is hard for me to set at the right tempo. I know I need to read and reread the manual a few times to get there, but haven't been able to make the time. Another problem for me is being colorblind. I have trouble seeing the color(s) of the light(s) to know which mode I'm in, etc. So, today I decided to buy and try the JamMan Express XT. I can return it in 30 days if I don't like it, so I have nothing to lose. Other than getting my timing down, which I figured out fairly quickly, this thing is so easy to use, it amazed me. I created a loop, then added some overdubs and had such a great time with it in such a short time, I think I already know that I'm going to keep it. I wish the JamMan solo was this easy. I want to create some loops for keeps which cannot be done with the JamMan Express. I cannot wait to surprise my bass player next week when I can create a loop on the fly, add some overdubs, and we can jam along with it. I don't think us using a drum machine will hurt my creation of loops with this thing, it is incredibly easy to use compared to my old JamMan solo. Unfortunately, the JamMan solo is an older model and it does not have the sync inputs, but that won't stop me from using both, once I figure it out. I recommend the JamMan Express XT to anybody just getting started with using a looper pedal. The learning curve, mostly the timing, should not be too bad and as the Digitech Rep says, you can grow with it. If I find the need, I wouldn't hesitate getting another one. Great little looper. 12 minutes of saved material, up to 10 different loops. I got this so I can easily put down and save some ideas. It's perfect for that. I really enjoy the looper method of creating a song or a groove. I use my alesis sr 16 drum machine to loop percussion, then I use my ibanez 8 string for the guitar and bass parts. I love my little workstation. Sound comes out loud and clear through the 720. The ability to undo your last overdub is a must have.I don't really use the 1/2 time function, but the reverse function is pretty neat. Super solid mostly metal build quality, attractive graphics, easy to use, and a must have for my setup. For about twice the money, you can get the ehx 22500. That looper can store up to 32 gigs of loops on an sd card. It was a bit more than I needed, but if you need a step up from the 720, the 22500 looks like a great option.thegoodsoldier216
For the unit I received, I would only hear playback if the volume level was turned up to around 75% or higher on the unit; less than that, nothing…even with any of the amps or speakers I'd plug this into, turned up. I've tried recording it at different levels but still the same result with needing to crank it up for playback. But this may have been a defect on this unit. As for recording, you must be wary of the number of minutes/seconds available to record, because you only have 12 mins and it is divided among the number of banks (out of 10) that you're going to use (e.g. if you record a 2min loop in one bank, you will have 10mins left to share among the rest of the 9 free banks; and then if you record, say a 5min loop on another bank, you'll have 5mins left for the remaining 8 banks). Overdubbing on any one bank is unlimited though and does not use any additional memory. You can also undo/redo the last overdub if you didn't like it. Now it's a bit tricky getting the timing of your "stomp" precise to where it would playback seamlessly. There is a noticeable gap between the end and beginning of the loop during playback (apparently a common complaint/issue from other online sources). The switch is pretty high and that may contribute to its difficulty of getting a seamless loop. After several attempts, you can easily go from being excited to get home and practice on a loop to being demotivated and annoyed. Guitar Center is awesome with their return policy, and I had no trouble returning the unit. Well, I went ahead and got a Jam Man solo XT instead which has more bang for the buck because of features like 10mins of loop time PER bank (it has, i think, 99 banks available), expandable memory with a microSD, can connect to computer via USB. It has NO GAP between the loops due to the lower profile switch/pedal so no loss in motivation at all, you just wanna keep on playing! I also wanna mention that the XT was $10 cheaper at the time of this review. Never looked back 🙂KoiaTo
This actually works excellent. BUT, look up specs of 1440 first ….as….I am upgrading to the 1440….as the one shot button, and double length recording time….I really need. Sound is excellent. Should be very last pedal in effects loop. Then, all sound and effects will be recorded, AND, your overdubs can have 100%, its own sound (channel, effects, volume). I have all front end drive effects on EHX silencer looped. My effects loop pedals are also on a EHX silencer, in it's loop. Zero background idle noise, with amp master volume at 3 O'clock…and channel volumes at 3 O'clock. Sound: The sound on this board is amazing, I fee it’s also very responsive to your playing and you get that responsive feedback. Makes me feel like it’s easier and more joyful to play my guitar. I will say this you have to tweak settings to get your sound typically the pre made ones aren’t the best. Overall: Ok so first off I’m new to this thing, I never thought I get away from tube amps, but….this headrush caught my attention and I love it! I like the simplicity of it and it produces great models plus sounds really authentic for what it does. I will recommend pairing with headrush frfr108 or frfr 12 or a frfr (Full range flat response) speaker instead of an amp. That way you get the absolute most out of this. I got the headrush frfr108 and it’s sounds amazing! too. As far as the headrush’s competition I haven’t used them yet. But end of the day it’s all personal preference. First off, DO NOT judge the tones of this pedalboard by the preset rigs, they're pretty bad. Build new rigs from scratch and you will discover what this unit is capable of producing. It's not overloaded with every effect pedal out there, but there is more than enough to get any tone you want from Jazz, Country, Rock, Metal, and Blues. For overdriven and distorted tones, it may seem like you only have a few pedals to choose from, but once you combine them with all the various amps, cabs, mics, and impulse responses, you have hundreds of tones in your sound pallet. As for modulation and delay effects, it has all you need to produce any tone. Real Amps and FX Loop – In addition, you can use any of your favorite effects in the FX loop of the pedalboard. It also works great with tube amps and can work in a "four wire" setup with your modulation and delay effects going through the amplifiers FX loop. You can also run into the PA and to a stage tube amp simultaneously. Virtual Amps and IR's – The amps and impulse responses sound fantastic. I have several vintage tube amps and I am able to reproduce the same tones of mic'ing up those amps from this pedalboard directly to the PA or a recording desk. It has the easiest user interface of any of the pedalboards out there. If you can use a smartphone or tablet, this will be very easy to learn. One of the best features is the ability to assign the footswitches to any pedal or multiple pedals (scene function), or do either toggle or momentary mode. In addition, the mini screens for each footswitch change when you assign it to different pedals so it's easy to see what effects you are turning on and off in live performance. In addition, you can name a scene footswitch anything you want (e.g. Clean, Crunch, Solo, etc.). Makes live performance very easy, no more stomp pedal dancing. Overall: First of all, I am pretty sold school when it comes to amps and effects. A simple tube amp pushed with a couple of tube screamers, the on board reverb from the amp itself, and some modulation like delay and chorus. I joined a band a few years back that was about to go into the studio to record an album the year before covid struck. As a result, I ended up buying a Pod HD500X as a way to try to consolidate the effects that I might need all in one unit. I used it mainly as a "pedal board" in front of the [tube] amp as if it were my old analog board full of individual pedals. Needless to say, the recording project got pushed back because of the pandemic, and I was stuck at home, with a lot of time to play around with the processor. It was "good" but it left me wanting an easier to use option. As you could imagine, what that kind of time on my hands, I did a lot of floating around the internet just looking at possible modelers. All of the names. Kemper, Helix, Axe FX, Fractal, and this HeadRush board. Out of everything that was out there, the HeadRush board seemed to be VASTLY easier to try to figure out. Pushing my late 40s now, I don't really 'enjoy' learning new technology the way I did in my teens and twenties, so I didn't want a steep learning curve just to be able to use this thing. I spent a day while it was being shipped looking over youtube tutorials as to how to use it. Only took me a few hours of messing around with it once it got here to dial in the tone that I had on the HD500X. If you can use your cell phone, you can figure this board out. The effects sound convincing and the amp models really seem as good as the competition's offerings (even if this board doesn't have quite as many jammed into it). We are about three weeks out from going in to start laying down the guide tracks for this LP [finally], and this will make things much easier to navigate when each little tone will be more heavily scrutinized. The ability to tweak it on the fly will save time (and thus MONEY) in that studio environment. No deep dives into large menus to try to make a minor adjustment. Gives me a lot more freedom to just try to play my parts instead of worrying about the setup itself. I think this board is a bit underrated as far as the amps and cabs as well. I still will be running it to my amplifier and mic-ing it up as I do still like the "feel" that tubes give when playing. But who knows, I may use some of the sims as well. Built like a tank. A bit heavier than I had expected. Should hold up well under live applications (though that was actually not a problem with the 500X either). I highly recommend this unit if you want to get something that doesn't take a degree from Berklee in sound engineering to get started making music.Kenneth

This thing actually works! I have two of them and I use them on my P bass, my Strat and Wurlitzer keyboard in my home studio. It's a necessity for any single coil pick up instrument, or any device plagued with AC hum/noise. It works on a whole different principal then most 60 cycle hum removers. On the strong setting it might suck out a little high end tone in some circumstances but I rarely notice much difference while playing and the benefits far outweigh that. The one _caution_ that you have to be aware of is that it uses a very specific non-standard power adapter that is crucial for tying it into your AC mains for it to "read" the hum and interference and remove it. If you see these for sale without the power adapter don't buy it. I've spoken to Electro Harmonix on a couple of occasions and although they were very responsive, believe it or not they were unable to sell me a separate power supply. I bought an expensive guitar that has single coil and hum-bucker pick-ups, all of them are noisy in my room. It's decent during day time but in the evening it goes nuts. The hum noise level is as loud as actual guitar signal. I though that guitar is defective but then learned that it is EMI caused by tons of electric devices from my neighbors. I got Hum Debugger and it cuts it out very well. I couldn't believe how good it works. You still can hear some crispy little noise sometimes, but it's playable. At least you can enjoy the sounds in the quiet evening time. People say it affect the sound of guitar a bit, maybe, I can barely notice, if I can at all. In my case the remedy for the hum noise is 99% where potential little change in the tone is 1% of a problem.eugene.genious
Got rid of the hum but DEFINITELY adds a very weird (tin can reverb) effect. Tried it in multiple positions in my effects chain, same effect. Many describe it as "metallic" sounding. It's bad. If you can't hear it, I'd see an audiologist lol. For live situations where you can't live with the hum of single coils or P-90s, it could work and be less noticeable in a band setting. I'm thinking I'll just click it on in quiet parts of songs…Bad Actor

I was looking for a good multi-effects pedal option and found this Flamma FM10. It's loaded with a bunch of different amp models and effects. I was able to dial and EQ everything. The expression pedal can also be put to use as a volume pedal, wah, gain control, and several other things. I was able to create several personal patches and have used them all in live settings. They sounded great. Which means a lot coming from me because I am EXTREMELY picky about gear and tone. Other benefits are that it functions as an audio interface, it has stereo outs, a headphone out, and aux in. It fits in a backpack and a gig bag. Depending on where the show is and how a musician needs to get there, this effects unit is going to travel well in all circumstances. Seems like a really great option for any musician (especially traveling musicians) who need a small multi-effects unit. I like it and I'm going to be using this quite often moving forward.Paul

As a 62 year old musician I'm not into technology and the X5 did not come with the updated version i.e no Tuner etc. It took me quite some time to figure out how to download the latest version and I found it extremely difficult to try and solve the issue. The on-line instructions make it so easy and yet when I followed them to the letter I could not get it to load. Finally I managed to load it…how I still don't know! Having said this the X5 is a great piece of kit. It's tidied up my pedal board and I'm having great fun. Its a quality product….Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I recently broke down my kit just to simplify everything in an ampless/recording/playing/streaming setup that works incredibly well for all those things. The Plethora offers an All I Need in One Unit – almost. I've put a compressor/Boost and the Broadcaster AP in front of it, and looped everything and out of a Simplifier. Modulation sounds, specifically Delays and Reverbs are my Jam, and the Plethora delivers. Having as many as I need on tap is where we're going here, and the options with Toneprint are vast. Then we can tweak. There's also plenty of scope to experiment and look for inspiration, so in all it looks to be a great value proposition for most. I think that TC Electronic realised that most people are going to have a favourite Overdrive pedal, so the omission of any digital replica is actually welcomed from me. (Seriously – you've gotta try the Broadcaster!) It was between this and a Helix Stomp XL. In the end I figured I could live without the amp sims, and I prefer the user interface and less menu diving with the XL. They sound the same to me. There's always room for improvement somewhere. Another loop might have been good, and the looper function is perhaps lacking in full functionality for some, but it's enough to keep you ticking over. Not much to complain about though, especially when you consider that buying pretty much ANY boutique 2 or 3 switch pedal is going to cost you £300, it's a bit of a no-brainerReviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Great piece of kit with masses of options and available sounds – potential to replace a fair few pedals in my collection – plus giving me more sounds that I wouldn't use often enough to warrant buying a specific pedal. Can setup boards for specific songs and/or different band or jam scenarios. Future firmware drops hold potential for additional features so the future looks good – for no additional cost! Editing sounds live as per regular stomp boxes is easy if that's your preference so all bases are covered. The EHX Pitchfork+ is a very versatile pitch shifter. It offers two shifters with a ton of options to shift up and down and you can also modulate the two pitch sources. Having the AUX out you can effectively split your pedalboard and get that "dual amp" sound going without the need to add more pedals to your board. Build quality is good. The knobs feel sturdy and the switches have a nice amount of feedback to them. My unit did come with an production defect but that's a sample size of 1 and I can't find anyone online experiencing the same issue. So I'm going to assume these issues are very rare. EHX support and MusicStore arranged an RMA for me so that's all fine. One thing to keep in mind is that this unit does have a distinct sound to it. It isn't as clean as Eventides algorithms (Quadvox/Octavox/PitchFactor). Make sure to check some videos on it or try it in your local store. At around half the price of Eventides outing this seems like a fair compromise. And if, like me, you play with a fair bit of distortion it most likely won't bother you.
