Overall this is just what i needed for my rig . you get what you pay for and i feel i got top quality.. And if you care about aesthetics of your rig will certainly look great. I never write reviews but after a bad experience with some other solderless wonders I think its time speak up. What could be better? this a cable that is easy to make ..looks great on your board and sounds clear. They look very well made.I think they will last a lifetime. That said ..I just got them and havent realy had enough time to test durability. What i can say is i was able to put them together and had my board up and running in a very short time. no problems at all with any of them. Just follow the instructions or go online theres a few realy good videos on you tube that will walk you through it..After i did one the others went together easy as pie.. As far as sound ..i dont think i have the best ear to be fair but i will say I can hear a difference in my rig.. Gone is the mess of cheap missmatched tone robbing cable mangle.. Im giving it a 6 only because i think for the price we should get 12 ends not 10. I have plenty of cable left over (what will i ever do with it)
I actually bought two of these kits to finish off a pedalboard and loop switcher. I watched an on-line video and got straight to it. The solderless connections are very easy to make and worked every time. This is in contrast to a D'Addario kit I got a couple of weeks previously, which is why I now own a cable tester . . . The George L cable is very thin, which is great when you are running 16 lines to a switcher. My only gripe is that I wish the ends were a little less bulky. They make it difficult to get pedals really close together to save room on the board. They are also a little pricy, when you think about 5 patch cables costing almost $20 each.John
Well engineered solderless plugs. Just remember to cut the ends off cleanly, de-crimp the cuts, so the cable looks round at the ends again. Place the cable end into right angle plug, push it in a bit, then bend the wire into the slot and screw the end camp down into the plug while holding the cable at 45 degree angle in slot. Lastly, place a rubber jacket provided over the screw end of the plug. This will somewhat secure the end screw to the plug. Then I recommend using a multi-meter to test for continuity at both ends of your new plug. That way… your certain that your plug connections are secure and not cutting too deep to the middle of the cable shorting it out. If you use these cables for a permanent pedal set-up they will work very well. However, I found that if I'm frequently moving pedals around on the board, pulling at the plugs and bending the cables, the connections may become loose over time, and you may have to re-build the plug connection. These cables take less space than Monster and Planet Waves effect cables. So if pedal board space is a premium, this is the best choice. Sound wise… there is more clarity in the top end. If you make them correctly, these cables are also very transparent and noise-free. Strangely enough… these cables sound much better than regular metal couplers and shortened soldered patch cords. These other cables must have slightly more resistance; hence, lesser sound quality. But, I highly recommend the George L cables…. It's night and day. Hope this helps.Nigel Moo Choy

If you don't want to have to go out and find the parts you need, then you've found the correct parts. These switches do what they say they do. They are replacements for failing guitar hero strummer switches. I found them easy to replace. You do have to have a soldering iron and solder sucker. It took me about 10 minutes for each guitar to replace them. Guitars played as new afterwards. You can find various YouTube videos on how to replace them. The switches are common simple SPDT lever switches. You can also pick them up at local electronic stores for about a $1 each. I didn't realize this when I bought them. I ended up going out to my local electronics store and buying more switches and replaced them on all four of our guitar hero guitars. I even sent a couple to my son and because they are so small and light it only cost the price of a stamp to mail them to him. If you have failing guitar hero strummer switches then I recommend them. The cable quality is very good as expected. However the description of the switch operation is wrong. It has a Momentary ON/OFF switch (As stated on the packaging) not a Click ON/Click Off switch as described on Guitar Center's website which reads: "When the button is pushed, the cable shorts while remaining plugged into your guitar, making on-stage guitar changes a snap, and eliminating any chance of sound bursts. Once the cable is shorted, remove the cable from the guitar being used and plug the cable into the next instrument. Press the button again to reactivate the cable signal." I've owned only one Circuit Breaker cable so far and it has been great for preventing those nasty pops in our sound system. Instant mute switch without having to turn down the volume and getting it right back to where I want it on the first try. However, the cable has a foil-like shield inside wrapped around the conductors, and the jacket is initially quite stiff. So the cable is exceptionally hard to manage, it constantly twists and tangles, and retains a memory like you wouldn't believe. Even after it's "broken in" it still is very resistant to winding the opposite direction. The older series (I presume) is very slick and hard to grip. When you have a Strat or other recessed angle jack (like my Ibanez) it is quite difficult to take out of the plug. Its fat ends make it even more difficult to pull out. Also, those blue o-rings aren't going to stay put so you may as well take them right off. I believe they've redesigned it into a more utilitarian style with knurled rings and straight profile. That looks far better, and I hope to acquire one or two of them soon. I think most people end up needing a straight and an angled plug (EVERYBODY'S got a Strat, right?) so it would be great if they'd offer a female jack for the Cable Station series to make adapters. Regardless of what it looks like, how slippery they are, or how stiff the cable is, they're still worth it. And mine has held up great so far, despite numerous drops on the stage. I needed a replacement snare quickly and found this at my local guitar center. The snare sounds fine, but the strainer tension straps are USELESS. Works for about 5 minutes and then the metal clip slips right through the hole. If you buy this, make sure you use your own string, plastic, etc.Dave
I'm not sure why PureSound markets these as "bright," but don't let that deter you. They don't seem any brighter to me than steel wires. What they certainly are is less harsh, and allow you to hear more of the drum and less of the snare buzz. For loudly amplified music you'll want to stick with steel, but for quieter music, and especially for jazz, the brass wires are great.GCH
I bought these for my Gretsch hammered brass snare mostly for fun since It did already have pretty good stock snares. I figured I have a brass shell and i stumbled on these brass snare wires and it would be a good match. It certainly shouldn't make anything worse and I would at least have a little customization to my drum. I think it sounds a little warmer and mellower than the stock, I'm assuming, steel snares. It's a very subtle change unless your snare was on the cheaper side maybe with very light thin metal end-plates on the wires. Most intermediate and hopefully all high end snares should come with good hardware and parts. I don't think of it as much of an upgrade but I like them and the subtle tone change is cool. If anything I get a little more snare buzz, but I read that they are capable of being cranked up a bit without choking much and I have mine set up at a medium tension and have not tried to tighten them up too much. But the stronger buzz only really caught my attention at band practice when the guys hit a certain note together that really freaks out my snare, so if anything it just means they are more sensitive. The new advanced quick release system, is an absolute joke. The first day I tried them, inside of an hour or two, the pin that secures the fabric to the snare plates, had slipped through leaving one side hanging in the air. the other side was sort of twisted and not at all as centered as when i set it up. Its just not reliable and I quickly put the old trusty nylon, tape style, strap that came stock with my snare in place of the not quite there, innovation that came with these snares. The ruler style lines and numbers that are on the straps are absolutely genius and usable, but the quick release pins just cannot be trusted. I hope in the future they incorporate the ruler style strap into a standard non gimmicky regular strap, as i have put permanent marker lines on mine before for the exact reason. By far the best upgrade you can do to your SG for the money. The tone and clarity are dramatically improved and eliminate a lot of the muffled characteristics of the original pods and capacitors. Very easy to install, even with limited soldering experience. I later added a Dimarzio DP100 to the bridge and it completely transformed the guitar; I don't think the full benefits of adding a replacement humbucker or pickup would be possible without the Emerson kit. This kit includes everything you need to connect six pedals on your pedal board (if you have regular cables as your line in and out). The wire cutter works well, the screwdriver is handy, and the cable seems to be of good quality. Since you can cut the cable to length, this kit will really help you clean up your board. You might not even really need cable ties once you're done. The only minor negatives: I wish the screws holding the cables into the jacks were phillips-head and not flat head, and you do need to push the wires well into the jacks, but they are easy to adjust, if you don't quite get it the first time. have been using George Ls for years, and was interested in trying what appeared to be higher-quality cable for better tone. Well, the system is not only a failure at that, it is defective. Impedance is way higher than any other cable system, causing a serious loss of highs. Additionally, since the continuity issue is in the ground portion, buzz and hum are significantly higher. On top of all of that, one cable I made didn't pass signal at all, and when I took the ends off to make sure the center pin pierced the cable in the correct location, one end did not HAVE a center pin. I checked the cable end, and there was no hole or piece embedded, so it did not break off in there – it simply was never there. Like I said, I'm in my late 40s and have been using solderless cable systems for years, so I did NOT manhandle anything. The system I received is just faulty and parts were broken. It's quite possible I got a dud, but Musicians Friend won't do anything to help, so there's no way for me to know if they're all this terrible, or if I just got a bad one.PK
How many DIY products of whatever description are really that easy to use? This cable kit is an absolute breeze and I was truly amazed at how easy making patch cables was. You just screw on a plug, put it in a pedal, work out the length of cable you need to get to the next pedal and use the little cutting tool to cut the cable, which works a treat. Put on another connector and you're done, in less than 5 minutes. I couldn't believe how easy the whole thing was. What's not to like? Perhaps the price. This is why I say the best. I use a sonor bras snare with sonor wires tht cost 3 times as much. I decided to experiment with gibraltar, cannon and puresound one day just to see if price makes a diffrence. They did… but not to puresound. These sounded no diffrent than my sonor snares that came in a wood box. I am impressed. The sonor snare to me is the standard of reference and I and my audience couldnt hear the diffrence live or recorded and I mic both sides of my snare drums.
