Reviews:
I've had two of these for several years now, and they've always worked great, both in the studio and on stage. I'm sure there are some fat speaker cabs the "regular" CG won't fit (which is why they make the XL) but so far I've used them on a wide variety of amps and haven't had an issue yet. One review mentioned they won't fit a standard Marshal 4×12 cab. I don't know what's up with his setup, but I've used one on a Marshal for years now. And a little 1×12 Blues Jr. And tons of in-between combos. Here's another GREAT use for them: I use one on my cajon all the time. Like, every gig I play. Once you get it adjusted right, it puts the mic (usually an Audix D2, but it also works fine with a 57 or whatever) in the perfect spot, at the perfect angle. And if you lean back when you play (as many of us do) the mic moves with the cajon so the sound doesn't change. Same if you scoot the cajon forward or backward on the stage or whatever. Nothing is perfect, but for 90% of all amps (and – so far – every cajon I've tried it on), they work GREAT.Mark
I wish thins thing worked properly…it WOULD be an excellent product! It's very hard to tighten or loosen, and even when fully tightened it doesn't stay in place well… sagging down, which forces you to loosen and tighten it again, which is very difficult. If you're going for precise mic placement, forget it! To top it off, it's too short to use properly with an SM57 (THE most popular guitar cab mic! Really Audix?!!) and you can't adjust the length, which I don't get at all. If you're going to make one of these, make it adjustable, like a mic stand! Basically worthless…I'll be returning mine as soon as GC reopens.Tele man
These things are great; I used it on my Peavey 6505/5150 2×12 combo amp. IT also fits my Peavey 4×12 Straight Cabinet, and my Line6 4×12 slant cab. Any standard size 4×12 it should fit, as well as most 2×12 combos. It mics the bottom speakers, but I guess you could mount it on top and mic the top speakers. IMPORTANT: It is thin enough that it will fit in the gap between 2 stacked cabinets. I actually have my 2×12 Peavey combo sitting on top of a straight 4×12 cabinet, and it fits perfectly. The threads fit a standard mic clip, I used a SHURE copy plastic clip and it fits fine. There is a locking nut so you can angle the clip and lock it firm once you have it in position. The grabber part is on a spring, it does not lock down (or I did not try, it might), but the spring tension is strong enough I don't think it will move. I think there are also cable clips, but I am not routing my mic wire through the cabinet. Overall, I love mine. I will get a 2nd soon. My only grip is that I wish they offered a 2 pack for $50 or $60. At $50 apiece, I considered making one myself for a fraction of the cost out of a pipe clamp and some Home Depot supplies. I got this so I can remove the built-in mic holder, which I found quite annoying when I wasn't using a shotgun mic. It looked/felt off balance and out of place; I didn't like having the mic so far forward either. Most of the shooting I've done thus far has been without a mic, but this was a quick solution when I did need it for ambient sounds, in conjunction with the built in handle mics – makes for a fuller feel in the soundscape.Narciso

Got two of these to do recordings of bands in grotty clubs and bars. It's the type of situation where there is no time to set up, mic stands are not welcome, and your mics need to be placed safely out of harm's way (the potential harms being drunken bar patrons and kleptomaniacs who like pretty, expensive microphones). They work great. Rock solid, stay in place, easy to manipulate. I just get on a chair, place my mics out of arm's reach and off I go. Love the clamps. They just stay put.Alex

This little stand attached right onto my microphone stand and made it very convenient to set the guitar down to change pages, work a tablet or to adjust the mike. Make sure that you place it in the same direction as the mike stand leg is pointed for maximum stability. I really like this thing. Traditional stands take up more floor space and can create a trip hazard. Beatles BruceBRUCE

Reviews:
As someone needing a cheap shockmount that would get the job done, this works for me. That being said, the mount is very plastic-y and I've already snapped one of the bands that holds the mic in place. Thankfully, SmallRig is smart and included extra band in the package so props to them for that. All in all, great for those on a budget needing a simple shockmount.Nathan
I bought this to pair with a boom pole and my Sony ECM-VG1 microphone. There isn't much to say except that it works perfectly. I suppose the plastic threads feel a little flimsy, but for the price I think it's fine. My main concern was the security of its hold on the mic, and it does that very well. For the money, this is an excellent option.Adam

Reviews:
Great little stand for the money. I use it for guitar amps, but also as a desk mic stand, which works great because it has a smaller footprint than the tripod-type models, so your desk real estate doesn't get totally cluttered. The metal foot is heavy enough to balance out even bulky microphones, unless you turn the arm too far sideways. Important: The clasp is strong and holds tight without having to force it. This never works right in flimsy cheapo stands. It's endlessly frustrating when your mic starts wandering downward in the middle of a take. The arm has the ideal length, and the telescope shaft accommodates even an amp propped up on a chair or stand.Johannes

9. H-Clamp Instrumount Acoustic Guitar And Studio Microphone Mounts
Product Details:
It obviously depends on the music and the venue — but nothing sounds more real, when amplifying or recording guitar, than a microphone. acoustic pickups are, essentially, a compromise – developed for situations when a microphone isn't practical due to feedback and bleed-through issues. in the studio, particularly, microphones are the way to go – but it's so hard to keep the guitar still so that the mic stays in the "sweet spot" and gives you a consistent sound. the h-clamp is a very sophisticated adjustable instrument microphone mounting device, with models available for guitar, upright bass, and cello, all of which may be suitable for other, similarly sized acoustic instruments (review size specifications here or elsewhere on the site to compare to your instrument). this clever, well-made unit uses a clamp that echoes the design of the traditional luthier's edge clamp (cramp). this anchors the microphone firmly in place using the edge of the instrument as the contact point, to avoid dampening the instrument's natural vibrations. you can use just about any mic (while lighter is better, the manual offers suggestions for safely using larger/heavier mics) be it large or small diaphragm, condenser or dynamic — the h-clamp is compatible with any standard mic clip or suspension mount. the maneuverability of both the clamp and arm allows virtually any preferred placement, as well as the ability to locate it so as not to interfere with the player's motions. the "space age" construction materials result in an extremely light yet secure mount. the top-of-the-line "black" model uses an aerospace polymer, a high tech material developed to be machined instead of moulded, for the clamp discs — it's as strong as aluminium but lighter and essentially inert acoustically. the shaft, boom and screws are all aerospace grade aluminium. silicone and other material inserts and sleeves are used for all the contact points to avoid damage to your instrument, and, presumably, to minimize vibration. a very thorough manual is included. it offers instrument-specific, detailed recommendations as well as general information. can i use it to hold a vocal mic? i had a customer ask me if they could use the mic for a singer-songwriter sort of arrangement, where the clamp would hold a mic for vocals. it's not its intended purpose, obviously, but as you can see from the photo to the right, it's totally possible! in looking at the photo, i should have turned the boom around so that it would have the "slot" on the front clamp on top, which would both allow the boom to come fully toward my mouth and provided better clamping "purchase" on the guitar, but it worked like this nonetheless. so, yeah – not its intended design spec, but it can work! explanation of models there are several models offered by the manufacturer, but for guitars and other non-bass instruments, we offer the standard "light guitar" model and the (self-dubbed) "pro studio" h-clamp. the guitar model is called the "liveguitar light" and has an adjustment range of 84mm to 116mm to fit the bodies of guitars from classical to dreadnought. like the others, it is manufactured from aircraft grade polymers and alloys to minimise its weight without compromising its strength. weighing only around 135g, the liveguitar h-clamp light makes little or no discernable difference to the weight or balance of a guitar unless used with heavy microphones. when folded away, it is small and light enough to fit in the zip pockets of most carrying bags and can safely be transported in a kit bag along with other stage and studio equipment. despite its low weight, the robust design and high tech materials ensure it can withstand years of battering in a musician's kit bag and still work perfectly every time. the "studio plus" model: exploraudio calls it the "multi-instrument mount." this is the "deluxe" unit, which includes four different sized shafts, which — by mixing and matching — allow you incredibly flexible width of space between the clamps. the livemount standard muti-instrument h-clamp model has a seamless adjustment range of 43mm to 278mm. various combinations of the shafts allow you to use this model for almost any mic-able instrument: regular sized upright basses, oversized upright basses, cellos, standard-depth, "baby" and oversized acoustic guitars, mandolins, ukuleles, small combo amps, and just about everything else in-between. this model therefore covers all the applications for which the h-clamp was designed. this top-of-the-line model features the ultra-lightweight composite disc components, and it is fully anodized in a matte black finish for a subtle appearance. this special product (the "pro studio" designation is ours, not exploraudio's) is perfect for a musician with a home studio, or for the gig-bag of a live soundman for mic-ing just about anyone on the stage. mark uses one of the "pro studio" clamps himself, in his home studio. one of the photos shows an h-clamp off the

I record a lot of live performances in our studio. There are so many methods of mic'ing performers, it's almost mind boggling. I've found this little unit to be very helpful. One of the categories asked if it was enjoyable. I'm not sure that's even applicable here, but I marked "no" based on the fact that extra work is seldom "enjoyable".strait53
This product should be discontinued. The idea is good, however the execution is poor. The bottom piece should not twist up and down, it should be solid. When you add any weight to this the whole top bar bends down and the mics get out of place. There is no way to tighten it. You can try to gaffe it but that looks terrible and it doesnt work. I literally just threw it away. Buy the On-Stage MY700 instead. Its a much better design.Don
I would normally give this bar five stars, if I only had corded microphones. The quality is good, it's rugged, and it holds your corded microphones well (don't forget to really tighten up the fittings!) My ONLY gripe is that the cordless microphones are thicker and larger in size. I really wish this bar were two or three inches wider; then it would be great for both corded and cordless. As it is, the cordless microphones are really close together, and the windscreens almost touch (I'm guessing this windscreen situation happens with the corded mics as well.) Four stars — waiting for the rollout of the new, improved, WIDER Mic Bar! (Call it the MY600!)lexdave1980
18. Wishbone Amp Hook Microphone Holder
Product Details:
Live on stage or in the studio the wishbone 'hook' is a dream for sound engineers, stage technicians and guitarists – micing up combos and cabs couldnt be quicker or easier. the 'hook' can literally be installed in seconds, by simply inserting the non-slip rubber coated 'u' shaped base through the amps central carry handle, between the head and cab or even underneath the cab or combo. the position of the mini-boom arm is set via the latest twist grip adjuster. the wishbone has no footprint, and thus eradicates unwanted floor vibrations or stage clutter. the low profile also eliminates unsightly boom extension stands with wide obtrusive feet, whilst remaining fully adjustable and offering a full 360 degree rotation to find that all important sonic sweet spot' in front of the speaker. designed in the usa the 'hook' is strong, lightweight, very durable and extremely portable, neatly breaking down to fold away and almost disappear into the smallest of gear bags, taking up far less room and weight than conventional heavier stands. the entire unit is very light weight and very compact. this new version 2 model is now even more of an extremely affordable alternative to heavy and bulky mic stands.

Reviews:
An especially good idea. So glad I bought one. I really like it.Mr. C
This is an extremely innovative purpose-built device for micing amps. Very stable. No more unwieldy mic stands taking up too much space and sticking out in weird ways. The space savings are a god-send for home/amateur recording setups, and for micing smaller amps e.g. mini-stacks. I have an HT-5 mini stack from Blackstar, and a Fender Rumble 200. It works great for both… except it really doesn't fit between the cabinets/head on my Blackstar. The device is intended to tuck itself under the carrying handle, and is quite a bit thicker than the clearance between my mini stack components, so I just put the speakers side-by-side for stereo guitar recording and voila problem solved. Was considering knocking a star off for that (since there are promo shots of the device tucked between stack components) but I couldn't bring myself to do it because of how happy I am about the positive aspects of this product. You get this item, a cloud lifter and a Shure SM57, and you got your amp mic'ed.TastySurprise

The boom arm will not tighten enough to hold mic steady. I will not recommend due to this design flaw.waynerhooper
