Love it. Clean sounding, versatile (Aux in, DI Out, ability to load new IR's) and small footprint. I've been using it in pratice, live and studio situations and it does what it says it does. Sure, some extra features (dry/wet mix function), would be useful, but at this price range it's hard to beat. I've purchased 2 units so far.tiste9680

Ok, so I get a ton of "review your purchase" emails every day, and pretty much ignore them. But THIS little tool is OUTSTANDING. Do some research on IR loaders, then buy this one. Sonicate also promptly processed and shipped the order. I'm still barely scratching the surface of its abilities, but I'm loving it so far. When I purchased this I didn't have my hopes up. I've been recording for many years and I've never been happy with my recorded guitar sounds. For the first time I'm satisfied with my sound. I really had to play with it for a while to dial in the right tone…..but once I found it I was very pleased. Just so you know, this thing can sound horrible. You really have to have some patience and try different combinations of amps and cabs. But there's some juicy tone in there if you take the time. Miles better than a Line 6 pod.Mojo Ryson

Bought this on Amazon and it burned up about a month into having it. Flipped the ground switch and it started smoking. Was a freaking nightmare because I had it hooked up to some very pricey Universal Audio stomp boxes (3) Finally sent it to their recommended service center where I was informed that they would not fix it because I did not buy it at a Guitar Center Sam Ash etc. That was before Christmas…. they got the box never heard back, box has disappeared. I've been playing guitar since a kid. My Dad used to own a guitar store where he was an amp technician. I'll always remember sneaking into his room when he wasn't home and playing his salmon pink Strat and Twin reverb amp. There was always a magic in them and they really inspired me. Fast forward 30 years and I've grown up just like him. Been playing professionally for a long time through some pretty nice gear but something in me always wanted to revisit that amp, it just had the perfect sounds I played lots of amps before choosing a Marshall 50w plexi as my amp of choice for gigging and it was good, no doubt a about that, played it for almost 15 years straight until one day buying that Twin I'd always so wished I also had. Found I played it far more than the plexi so actually ended up selling the Marshall and just sticking with the 65' reissue! It does everything the Marshall did and more I think. Playing them side by side before making the final decision to sell set my mind at ease because I couldnl get the same sounds from the Twin. Even did a little A/B recording with overdrive and no one could pick which one was which I play mainly classic rock and this amp is everything I'll ever need. Small wattage Amos always sound and feel small to me so was never interested in them, of it's too loud turn it down, the volume is far better than the plexi because that one sat on a hair trigger, really difficult to get a bedroom volume out of. The Twin is quote easy and pot smooth to use. Plexi goes from 0-almost full volume at half way to 1 on the dial. Love itJez

I received the amp yesterday and have only played it (both the vibrato and normal channel) for about half an hour in my living room, but I was so impressed that I wanted to go ahead and write a review, which I almost never do. I've been playing electric guitar almost 50 years and have owned many different amps, almost all Marshall or Fender, including a late 60s or early 70s 100 watt Marshall (no master volume), a mid 70s silver face Twin Reverb and Dual Showman, a 1987X 50 watt Marshall reissue, a '59 Bassman reissue (before the LTD version), a '65 Super Reverb reissue, a Twinolux, and a standard '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. The only other amp I have currently is a wine red '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue (DRRI) with a P12Q Jensen speaker. The '65 DRRI has been one of my favorites. I like the 6V6 sound and I think it's hard to get a bad sound out of that amp. I really like the clarity of the 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb compared to my '65 DRRI. It is noticeably brighter than my '65 DRRI, but part of that may be because the '64 has a C12Q speaker while my current '65 DRRI has a P12Q speaker. Since reverb and vibrato work on both channels of this '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb, the vibrato channel is like having the bright switch on (it reminds me of the way my super reverb sounded with the bright switch on) and the normal channel is like having the bright switch off. I like the way both the reverb and vibrato work and sound on this '64 more than the '65 DRRI. The same guitar (a Strat with '69 custom shop pickups) has noticeably longer sustain when I play it through this '64 compared to my '65 DRRI. Some people have mentioned a possible problem with noise (hiss or hum) from this amp, due to the way the channels are connected together, but I hear virtually no noise at all from this amp, not when it is sitting still (with both normal and vibrato channels turned up to 3), and not when I turn any of the knobs. I wish I had bought this amp in the first place instead of the '65 DRRI.Kenneth

I was really surprised at how good this amp sounds. Years ago I tried Line 6 and was not at all happy with the tone; but this is another story. It does take me awhile to dial in a specific classic rock tone, but when I do, it sounds better than any other amp that I've tried. I have tried the Marshall Code, Blackstar id Core, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Katana; as well as some all tube amps. The only other amp that is a close 2nd is the Fender Mustang GTX; also a great amp. The Spider V is fairly easy to operate. It offers lots of choices for amp models and cabinets. I like that it has variations of a mic'd cabinet. The parametric eq is a plus. I haven't played around too much with the effects yet, so I can't comment on that. The only negative thing I could say is that when you're editing a preset and want to hear how it sounds before you save it, you only have a short time before it goes back to the Home Screen. This really is a small price to pay for the quality of the amp and all the versatility it has. I like the App too. Musicians Friend got me a great on this as well; and their agent is following up making sure that I'm satisfied. The funny thing is that I came across this by accident. I placed an order for a Peavey amp that was on back order. I called Peavey multiple times, but they never returned my call. I also emailed them, but they didn't respond to that either. As far as I'm concerned, Peavey doesn't have any customer support.crrkr

Been playing about a year, so my review is from the perspective of a complete newbie. The things I like- Lots of presets, mobile app functions, computer interface, and loads of user created effects available. Nice and loud, but no real basis of comparison to say if clarity is better or worse than other comparable amps. Don't likes- The micro-usb interface. I had to get an adapter and it's just not as good a connection as nearly anything else would be. IMHO, micro-usb is far too flimsy. Connecting to PC is far more problematic than just using the spider mobile app. It's probably a little more complicated than it should be for a beginner, but it's feature rich for the money.Nic T

I had a Line 6 120w amp for years that I regrettably sold a while ago and was looking for another amp. I looked at all the amp reviews I could find and decided that the new Katana was the way to go. I got the Katana home and absolutely loved it but the second day I had it it started a really loud buzzing that I couldn't stop. It probably was an easy fix but the fact is the amp was way too powerful for my purposes and their software wasn't compatible with the new Catalina OS. I returned and started looking again. I saw the 60w Spider V and the price was excellent so I made an on the spot decision to buy another Line 6 and I'm really glad I did. The tones this amp can get are incredible. There are so many amp models and cabs that you can dial in pretty much any tone you want from a crispy snapback country clean to the most vicious heavy metal and everything in between. You can use the presets as they are or you can use them as a baseline and tweak to your own liking or you can start from scratch and build your own rig from the ground up. The controls are intuitive and easy to use but there are some features where you'd have to be a professional to really know how to use or even care to use. The software and the mobile app are so easy to use and give you all the options at your fingertips. The amp comes with a lot of presets that I find are completely useless but there are a lot that are excellent as I already talked about. There are only four empty slots for your own custom presets and I wish there were more but if you use the mobile app you can have your own tone library on there. I bought the FBV3 foot controller so that gives me a lot of flexibility to have various effects. One of the limitations is the lack of good effects though. There's enough that if you work at it you can get a decent sound but there could be some better ones. Overall I would recommend the amp. Don't listen to the naysayers or the amp snobs, it's a quality amp and extremely versatile.Just Plain Joe

Sound: I write and play original jazz, blues, country, and ballads mostly in various finger styles. All my guitars and all these of these musical styles sound better on this TM Deluxe than on any amp I've ever played through or heard. Features: This amp has every feature of the original, except the weight and the ever-flaky tubes. The only missing feature is an external speaker jack (although the onboard speaker is *much* better than boutique amps costing lots more money). Musicians drool over this amp. Then they pick it up. Then they decide to buy one. Ease of Use: Easy to get great sounds – no learning curve – as long as you're using a really good guitar. Each knob responds just like the original Deluxe, except that the reverb is usable (and interesting) right up to 10 (not true of any Fender tube reverb). Quality: Very good quality construction. Should last for many years or reliable performance. Value: It's well worth the money! Manufacturer Support: No problems with this amp (either mine or my friend's who got one for his birthday), so I haven't contacted Fender about it for any reason. The Wow Factor: It's beautiful and the sound quality is superb. Overall: I'm a 74-year-old singer/songwriter who's been playing professionally for 60 years. I bought this blonde Tone Master Deluxe in July 2021 from zZounds. With an XLR cable from its integrated direct interface, I plug it into the house Mackie 16-track mixer most Saturday mornings and play on a live radio show that's been going for over 30 years – I've played most Saturdays for the past 5 years. I owned a 1960s Vibrolux Reberb and a 1970s Twin Reverb for years – neither one sounded as good as this TM Deluxe – and both broke down every other show and weighed *way* too much. Every Saturday morning, I get warm compliments on the sound of this TM Deluxe from audience members and other musicians. It's well worth the money! All that beautiful tone and neither a tube nor a capacitor will every give out right at the start of your gig. I gave one of these as a birthday present to an old friend in Detroit this fall (youngest person ever inducted in the Hall of Fame by the Detroit Blues Society). He has a whole lot of amps in his studio, but the TM Deluxe is the only one that he's using anymore for recording and for gigs.Ira

I bought this amp a couple of weeks ago, we're still closed down for COVID 19 where I live so I haven't used it at club volume yet but judging from at-home tinkering, its got plenty of volume. I have a silver face deluxe reverb and a reissue to compare this to and really, I'm surprised at how accurately Fender reproduced that punchy sound that's unique to the deluxe reverb. They've added a couple of, shall we say, quirky features. It has a "mute" switch where the standby switch would normally be, even though there's no need for standby on a solid state amp. The mute switch feels flimsy compared to the power switch, I'll probably just leave that on all the time. Time will tell how it holds up. Even though Fender doesn't mention it in the literature, they've made a fake warm-up, as if the tubes were powering up, except there are no tubes. There is a 10 or 15 second delay between turning it on to sound coming out. I don't understand the reasoning behind the fake warm-up but OK, it doesn't hurt anything. The amp has 100 watts, it take more solid state watts to replicate the tube sound and performance and again, it really sounds a lot like the traditional tube amp. On the back panel is a sort-of power attenuator that's got six settings labeled from 0.2 watts to full / 22 watts. The labeling doesn't have anything to do with the actual power output, I guess it has to do with keeping the 22 watt tube vibe. The attenuator is actually quite useful. The lowest setting is great for in-home practice and the other settings are much louder but let it break up at lower volumes until you hit full power which sounds like it's louder and cleaner with more headroom than the tube versions. Overall, I'm happier with this purchase than I thought I'd be. The amp is light and easy to carry, no tubes to go bad in the middle of a gig, great practice amp and I expect it will perform well at club volume when and if we ever get back to that.Johnny Rockabilly

Great Fender Tone in a lightweight amp. Firmware updates for popular mods on the original Deluxe Reverb make it so versatile. Built in attenuator for cranked amp sound at lower volumes is awesome. DI with IR's to FOH or recording works great. Mute switch if you want silent stage or recording. Takes all my pedals very well! I bought this as a practice amp along with a 108 cab. My live rig involves a lot of pedals including using an fx loop and there are very few practice amps out there with a loop. I love the twin volume switches for boosting, and it sounds great clean as well as driven. Having a DI out makes it more versatile but bear in mind you’ll need a longer than usual speaker lead (I found out after that Orange make a 20’ speaker cable: worth buying. I should point out that this can get very loud so good for small gigs too. Only two issues, I would like an extra switch to turn the loop on and off (like I have on my Marshall origin) and I have found it gets quite noisy with the fx loop connected. This may be down to my cheap power brick on my pedal board but never had this issue with my Marshall. There are other pedal sized amps out there but this is one of the cheapest and definitely worth the money. Slightly more than a tiny terror but that doesn’t have the fx loopDaniel C.

Overall: This amplifier absolutely rocks! With so many options you can dial in any sound that you want, from crystal clear clean to roaring rhythms and screaming leads. As everyone has already said, the reverb is almost nonexistent. However, the amp, tubes and build are rock solid. BUT… if you really want to blow your mind, swap out the speaker with one that fits your style. My style is classic hard rock so after much research I swapped out the 70 watt Celestion V-Type speaker that it comes with for a 150 watt Eminence Swamp Thang and I swear that it sounds as loud and ballsy as my full-on DSL100 full stack with 1960 cabs. The difference is mind boggling. No fizz, no speaker distortion at all. Just a loud, clear representation of my sound. Obviously the Swamp Thang might not be your speaker of choice but do your research and this will be the only amp you will ever need again!Scott

Sound: With good tubes properly biased, yes. Features: One feature that I absolutely detest is the effects loop button. When it is activated the front of the amp ceases to operate and when deactivated, the front works but the effects loop deactivated. There's no reason for this feature to exist. Substantially limits what the user is able to do. Bad decision in the design. Ease of Use: Just need to fix the owners manual to include specifically how to bias the tubes. Value: At the time I bought it, it was around $800. So at that time, yes. Overall: It took me a while for this amp to grow on me as it sounded like crap out of the box. I replaced the stock speaker with a Celestion V30 and replaced the stock tubes with Ruby EL34STR and a 5751 in the PI as is my typical configuration. Still couldn't get an acceptable tone was fuzzy and grindy. Years later, I learned that you can self bias the amp. After reading forums, there is little info on how to bias the amp and nothing in the manual. I discovered the bias was at 31mv so I turned both to 40mv and HOLY SMOKES this was the tone I've been seeking all these years. Eureka, I found it and it's incredible now. Completely unacceptable that Marshall included zero information in the manual regarding this, which is a pretty important feature. Moreover, it's important that I explain how to bias this. When you place the multimeter leads in the ground and point, one point will give a reading and the other red test point will read zero, always. YOU WILL NOT BE USING THIS TEST POUNT AT ALL. Go back to the one that gives the reading and keep it in that test point and adjust the pot to 40mv. Then, keeping the multimeter lead in the same pot, turn the other bias adjust til they both read 40mv. Next onto the effects loop, there is a button to turn the effects loop on and off as you can not use both simultaneously like in other amps. What good is this feature? Worthless and is an absolute thorn in my side as I would like to use the midi to switch between both which is why I bought it, but can't. Now, the amp does sound good now that it's properly biased as well as replacing the stock speaker, but I lost years of good tone due to the lack of instruction in the instruction manual.Jonathan

Overall: This thing is awesome if you like that Marshall tone this amp is for you, it's really a 4 channel amp if you get the six way Marshall foot switch, if I had to nit pick this amp would be the reverb, don't get me wrong it sounds great and is useable for 90% of what you would need it for, but if your wanting that Gilmour type reverb you'll need to add a reverb pedal in the chain. Where this amp really shines and I discovered this on accident I was messing around with the effects loops and added an EP booster which I would normally run on the front in, and just WOW…adding the EP booster to the loop really opened it up, tamed some of the compression and evened out the gain while improving the tone, sounds more like a JCM800 at this point, I'm super impressed with this little amp and I have some really nice amps in my collection. Let me say I would totally gig with this amp without question. This fact that Marshall made it easy to change and bias tubes is a huge thumbs up as well. Other manufactures please take noteRick

I've been playing night clubs, Casinos, Hot Rod Runs, Bike Runs, weddings, parties, and everything since 1979. I used to use 2 Fender Twin Reverbs with Celestian G-12-65's and a rack of effects processors (to run STEREO), with a octopus of wiring to set up at every gig, plus an octopus of switches and stomp boxes and wall warts on power sttrips on the floor. Set up time and tear down time took hours. Sometimes all that wiring maze would pick up the 60 cycle hum, and what a mess locating the buzz! After a gig I had to set all that stuff up again at my home studio to practice. Sometimes there was no time… In 1996 I bought a Line 6 Flextone 2-12 (stereo) and that changed everything. It ended all the major problems and electrical buzzes. I programmed the Flextone right next to my Fender Twins and matched the tones exactly on the Flextone. WOW! No more Octopus Monster and Heavy Gear! I have since had a Spider III HD 120 with 412 bottom, 2 Spider III 210 combo's a Spider Valve 100 head, and recently a Spider IV 120 210. I Use the Spider iii 120 210 and Spider IV 120 210 amps on stage exclusively, with an FBV floorboard. Very Simple for stage and Awesome Sound everywhere I play! But again, many times my gear is loaded in a trailer, or at the venue and I need something that sounds like my Spider IV,,, so I got a Spider IV 15 watt. I quickly dialed in my 6o's Fender Reverb Tone for Country and Surf Tone on Ch 1, my StevieRay Vaughan "Little Wing" tone on Ch 2, The Stevie Ray Vaughan Roto-Vibe Tone on Ch 3, and a Van Halen tone on the Insane CH 4. I'm good to go! The only thing missing, is that the larger Spider Amps have a separate Reverb knob and the Spider 15 shares either the Echo Delay or reverb on the same knob, so you can't have both to smooth out the delay. It's one or the other on the Delay or the Reverb, but that's not a big deal on a great practice amp, that i could use onstage if I had a mishap with my other amps. Sounds best when you aren't pushing the master all the way to the max. Crank it up, dial in your tones, then back it off about 7 on the Channel Volumes, match them, and run the master at about 6 or 7. I can switch the channels with my FBV Floorboard and use it for practicing in real small rooms with a band. If it's not loud enough…Mic it! The tones I use are there and I can pack this amp in 2 minutes and walk out with my guitar without breaking my back with the heavier stuff. Fits right on my front seat. Done Deal! If it's your first amp, it's probably the best starter amp for the money, and for me, I have my tones dialed in for practice anywhere with no hassles.Kenny

Ups dropped it off yesterday, and it is everything I hoped, but better. The metal and insane channels are perfect. The clean is gorgeous, for a sort of metal clean tone. If you want to play a lot of Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, you might be better off with a Vypyr. but if you want Mettallica and Crue, to A7X, back to AC/DC and Aerosmith, youll love it. The metal channel is heavy as hell, and can still get up and throw piercing highs and mids. Everything is tight and punchy as hell. The biggest thing that shocked me was the clarity at seemingly stupid volumes for such a small amp. MF was out of stock when I ordered it, and I still had it in 7 days with free shipping. Very satisfied with this guitar amp. It has a lot of great effects, like flanger, reverb, tremolo, and tape echoes (to name a few). It's very fun to mess around with settings to create great spacey sounds and heavy, sludgy tones. It's also very easy to use. The amplifier also has very useful features, like a built-in tuner and a "save" feature, where the amp can save and remember four different settings at the push (and hold) of a button. It has great tone, volume, and variety, and it picks up things like pinch harmonics extremely well on the Metal and Insane tones. It's also pretty light to carry. I'd definitely recommend this amp for someone just starting out and for someone who's rather experienced with guitar playing. Great price for an amazing amplifier.Katastrophecy

I've been looking for a great, clean amp that would really accent my guitar's natural sound. I first tried the Blues Junior which was nice but didn't have quite enough warmth and power behind it, I needed something more. I did my research and landed on this beautiful Princeton. It has everything that I was looking for. I am an experienced player but also prefer not to have a super complicated setup with switches and pedals and knobs; this Princeton keeps the focus solely on the tone and sound. Yes, there is a reverb knob which can add a little more, but I usually keep that off. What's great about getting an amp like this is you really get CLEAN, crisp open/clean channels and can really hear your axe sing. Because of that, it also allows your pedals to shine without being bogged down with too much of this or that, or in my opinion not having enough power behind the amplification. This amp is perfect for those who just want a clean guitar sound, or who want to throw in an effect here and there and still get everything you want in the sound. 1000% recommend.GuitarGuy911

This is a fantastic amp after owning it for 5 months. I constantly wonder about getting rid of other amps and just playing this one all the time. It's a "just right" amp. It's extremely easy to get along with. It sounds good in any room, is less sensitive to placement in the room than other amps I've owned, it's easy to dial in with different guitars. The Reverb & Tremolo always seem just right and easy to adjust. It seemingly gets along with just about any pedal/effect you run into it, but you don't need any FX or pedals with this amp either if you don't want them. If I had to think of a negative it's the vintage style food switch that comes with it. You can't mount it on a pedal board because the back is just press fit and the cable doesn't detach. I usually just wrap up the cable and put the foot switch in the amp for transport. It's no surprise these have been popular for decades.Ben

I went back and forth between the Princeton Custom 68 and the 65 Reissue, and settled on the 65 as I will make better use of the clean headroom and 'pure' clean Fender tone (compared to the darker, snarlier sound of the 68). The amp is fairly light (compared to other Fender amps) and a compact size for transporting to gigs, it has plenty of headroom for small to medium-sized shows but is quiet enough for home recording. The tone is beautiful, clear and sparkling, with a very characterful spring reverb and a subtle but warm vibrato. It's a simple amp with 1 channel, no mid EQ control, no standby switch – but it has everything I ever actually need to use on an amp. It starts to break up around 6 on the dial, which is pretty loud in a small room, so if you're looking for a crunchy amp then this isn't for you.Robin M.

Overall: overall – maybe the best sounding low wattage amp ever. only small difference in sound between this & a tube amp. weak point is lack of features. they really skimped. twice the price of other compared to other practice amps that have way more features. you're really extra paying for tone here.pro's – * truly terrific tones* even if you have a tube amp that sounds good at whisper volumes (i have a 15w egnater tweaker) it's so convenient to be able to play this on top of your desk.* clean and modern settings are fantastic. i don't use the other amp settings much, but they sound great as well. the only setting i don't like is brit hi.* effects sound good* tap tempo* good tuner* the features are weak* pricey – other practice amps have many more features. they sound pretty good themselves (just not quite as nice as this). so if features are important to you, get something else. digital amps these days all sound not bad to downright good.* are the tones here so much better that it's really worth double other companies' amps? honestly hard to say, but this one does sound the best* can't save settings* one knob control of all mod effects is really limiting* can use the software to tweak settings and effects, but as soon as you unplug, you lose them* max volume on delay is occasionally not enough. usually it's ok. but sometimes, you want a little more & doesn't have it* as mentioned, brit hi setting not that great* the name "modern" might be misleading. i mentioned that modern sounds good, but, it doesn't have enough gain to get you into mesa rectifier range. you're going to need a pedal for that.A

If you're expecting an amazing Marshall sound, you might want to invest in some of the bigger amps Marshall has to offer. If you think you can get a concert level sound out of this little guy, you will not be the happiest person. However, that level of "high" expectation would not be very reasonable or even realistic for such a little amp. This is a very cute, small amp that will help you plug your guitar so you can practice quietly in any room in your house without annoying your wife. It will distort if you crank the volume all the way out, and if you're used to the full sound of a bigger Marshall (like I do) it might make you feel like you're hearing your guitar over an old telephone (just my opinion). However, if you calibrate your instrument volume & tone you can find a happy medium. With that said, for the price it is a very nice solution to practice and if the sound seems too weak for you, you have the choice of putting headphones. I personally use it just for practice on the fly, it serves it purpose, but then again I was not expecting the best sound output. So I am happy with the purchase.BeeZee

It's basically a toy amp. I can see it being used as a portable amp for non-serious performance. Personally, I like it for a quick jam and for (relatively) quiet practice in my apartment setting. Won't disturb my neighbors but it does get noticeable at the highest volume. That and the overdrive knob are the two main controls. By default it just does a clean sound but overdrive lets you toggle in some gain for that distortion. It has a good look that definitely models after its bigger brothers.Rick

I don't know what some of you guys expect from this thing, but be realistic: it's an inexpensive 5 inch tall, 1 watt amp. It's not designed for anything but sitting in a chair and entertaining yourself or a couple of people. Within that context, I enjoy this thing and sometimes get it off the shelf and play around with it for awhile. Also, when I owed somebody a 1 minute long riff for his podcast and my main amp was getting some regular tech service, I plugged my American Standard Strat into this thing, mic'd the amp, used the OD channel with the volume and tone both on 10, played the part, then added tons of bass, reverb, and chorus to it in post, and it sounded great and nobody ever knew that I recorded the part using a 5 inch tall amp. It does everything I expected it to do. It sounds, plays and has the dynamics and feel of a valve amp but without the weight. Quality of the build is excellent. I haven't been able to compare it to a Fender Twin reverb as I don't own one or have access to one but for me that's not a problem. Many have written reviews focusing on just how close it is to a valve twin reverb but I'm not sure that adds any value as every twin reverb sounds slightly different anyway. This amp sounds great, and for me provides the pedal platform I need with bags of clean headroom. My valve amps, an original American made Hotrod Deville and a Vox AC15 give me alternative voicing's for studio use should I need them but for gigging the tone master twin wins hands down. The 'extras' on the back panel work really well. I've compared the IR DI to a SM57. I set up a SM57 in front of the speaker grill in the usual position and used the DI output simultaneously and recorded them at the same time. On playback I switched between the two and couldn't tell the difference. The switch that controls the power output (not sure where in the circuit this is) means you can set the amp volume on the sweet spot and then using the power sector control the overall volume so that there is no, or very little, change in the saturation/tone. At the lower wattage settings (1w & 5w) there isn't enough output to give a full sound out of two 12 inch speakers but is fine for low volume practice, 12w it starts to sing and at the 22w and 45w settings it rocks. Haven't needed to use the 85w setting yet..!! Well done Fender and excellent and quick service from GAK. In summary, a great amp.Ian H.

Fender's market research and R&D folks must have read my mind a while back. I was looking for a clean combo amp with 2-12's and sufficient power to do louder gigs without sound reinforcement, but was light enough for my worn-out body to carry. My benchmark was the venerable Fender Twin Reverb, and I actually considered kludging together a 2-12 open back cabinet with neo speakers and some kind of Class D power amp. I had considered a Champion 100. I have a Champion 40 but was turned off by the build quality, speakers, and modeling of these guys. I wanted a Twin I could carry. You're thinking the Tone Master Twin Reverb is a Champion 100 with different cosmetics. Yes, it's a digital modelling amp with no tubes. No, it doesn't have Holy Grail speakers in it. But – – It sounds as good as my early '68 Silverface Twin Reverb with JBL D120F's did. – The controls work just like they did back then. – It can be Twin Reverb LOUD (or NOT when the gig and common sense requires it) – I can carry it with one finger – And it looks like a Twin Reverb should. Even came with a cover. The build quality is there even though the weight isn't. Cosmetics are right on, down to the swoosh logo plate and tilt-back legs. The controls feel just like CTS pots, the knobs are classic Fender 0-10 skirted items, and the volume and tone stack controls feel right, and do exactly what you'd expect them to do. The power and mute switches are right where you'd find the power and standby switches on a Tube TR. The reverb is simply luscious, and the vibrato is right on. The Jensen neos do the job, but I do wonder how much they will change as the get broken in. But out of the box they are doing well. My intent was to get an amp that would be used with pedals, and I didn't consider a channel switcher for this task. I've used it on two gigs so far and it's exceeded my expectations with power to spare, and no back injuries, which at my age is well worth the price tag.C.D. From H.B.F.

Because the Stage Right 5-watt tube amp (#611705) has control knobs only for Volume and Tone, I found that I get the best-to-my-ears guitar sound when I put an equalizer pedal between the guitar and amp and then adjust the equalizer to the tone that I'm looking for. On the guitar the Volume and Tone knobs are set fully open and on the 5-watt tube amp the Tone knob is fully closed and the Volume knob is set to the volume level acceptable to the environment (for home practice the Volume knob is set to level 3 at full 5-watts). The Stage Right 5-watt tube amp is my first tube amp after having used modeling amps for at least five years. I had heard that tube amps more often than not sound better than modeling amps. After now having experienced using a tube amp I agree that tube amps (at least the Stage Right 5-watt amp) sounds better than the modeling amps I've used (which to me sound great too). If you're looking for your first tube amp (like I was) or you are looking for a low-watt tube amp for home use then I highly recommend the Monoprice Stage Right 5-watt tube amp #611705. Review about Monoprice customer support: The 5-watt tube amp that I initially received had a cosmetic defect (a hole) on the textured surface on the front side of the amp. The Volume knob when set to fully opened level 10 produced normal speaking level sound instead of the noise-complaint loud volume that I expected. Monoprice customer service was great and easy to work with in submitting an amp replacement request. I described the problems, sent pictures of the cosmetic defect and a video demonstrating the Volume problem. After Monoprice customer service reviewed the pics and video they sent me a free shipping return label, a RMA label, and they ordered me a replacement amp which arrived within 7 days after I submitted the replacement request. For the price (I got it when priced $119) it is fantastic. It's simple, straightforward and sounds good. Nice warm tones. If you're a fantastic guitar player, this amp will sound fantastic. If you're an okay guitarist, you might want to invest in some pedals (or just keep practicing). I only say that because it is very clean and bright and it really shows off what you're playing. (I've been known to hide my sloppiness with reverb, distortion, etc.) BUT It does take pedals well – thankfully! Adding a good reverb pedal, delay and an overdrive to go along with this little guy is a good idea. The Pros: Value to Price ratio. Looks well built. Warm tube sound. The handle (yes I am talking about the amp's handle) is nice! Better than I expected. In fact, everything looks pretty good (except the cheap control knobs). 5 watts is plenty loud for home/recording use. The Cons: Good sounding, but there are better sounding. Please don't buy this thinking that this is a $500 amp. It is not. But sub $200 it is a good one. The chickenhead knobs are cheap looking. I took them off and painted them. But that's a dollar or two easy fix (if it bothers you at all). Overall: I totally recommend for $150 or less. Probably for $200. If the prices climb too much beyond that, I think there are other options. If you want to jam at home and record with it, I think you'll be happy.Brad

The Monoprice 5 watt guitar amp arrived just a few days after ordering, and arrived in good shape, due in part to the excellent shipping carton. Upon taking it out and inspecting it, I could find no flaws in the cabinet, and due to the cream color of the covering, it seemed a little bigger than I was expecting. I plugged it in, let it warm up for almost an hour, and then plugged in an ES339, using no pedals. At first, I wasn't all that pleased with the sound I was getting, but it was my fault. I had it adjusted as I do with my Albion Hybrid, but that wasn't the way. I found the best sound came from turning the Monoprice all the way up, and then use the guitar controls for volume instead. That did it, and the little amp came a alive in a big way! Sounding very similar to a Fender champ, it could go from nice clear tones to crunchy heaven with the ES339's humbuckers. I plugged in a Strat with an HSH configuration, and the single coil really made it sound Fenderish. Sweet. The only thing I found one might improve on the amp, is the speaker. As such, I plugged into the built-in external speaker jack on the back, a little Randall 8" cabinet. That really did it for me. The sound was fantastic through the entire spectrum, and was loud enough to be heard down the block. I then bi-amped it with the Albion, and the sound had all the creamy goodness I've been seeking, and that is how I now have it setup for daily use. That said, there's nothing wrong with the stock speaker on the Monoprice, and I suspect it will satisfy most users. Am very happy with this purchase, and glad I bought it for such a great price. Almost every electric guitar player could find a use for this amp. Buy before the price goes up, or they quit making them!T

I really am enjoying Boss IR-200. I can't get over how much sound is packed into this small package. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for Amp and IR effects pedal that does a really nice job modeling amps and cabs that are great for a wide variety of genres.ZC

I bought this pedal primarily as an IR loader and have no interest in the amp modeling (which I just disable). So I have a valve amp head running into a captor reactive load which runs into the IR200. Then I'm using the stereo outs through delay and reverb pedals and a bit of compression/saturation before hitting the mixer. Having access to so many IRs and being able to load and store even more of my own via USB is total luxury. I can mix and match the stereo pairs and apply two types of EQ. I have been able to achieve a very realistic sounding cabinet simulations which I can quickly step through. There is some shallow menu diving but the layout is logical and intuitive and presets can be named. Additional features like the noise gate, fx loop, midi control, expression control and ambience fx (reverb) are welcome too. 5 stars from me!David J.

Orange amps in modern day are great. This amp has a TON of power. The clean channel is great and you can mix it with pedals no problem. The distortion is good you can mix a lot of levels to get a desired sound and the built in reverb is great they really made this amp for the plug in and play people that just love to turn it up. Tone Monster that's true analog solid state. I really like the clean and overdrive tones. But I do use pedals on this amp for high gain. I use the Boss Metal Zone in the effects loop and straight in. I also use the MXR Fullbore Metal pedal too. I like them both with this amp. I use them in the clean channel and on the dirt channel with the gain turned down and since you have more EQ controls on the dirty channel you can get more tones out of the amp. I think the Orange Crush Pro is an excellent amp, I have the 120 watt head for home use and at practice I use the CR-60 pro combo amp. They sound both the same but with the head I am running it head through a 212 Mesa Engineering cab with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. This sounds huge and a wall of sound but I will not lie the 112 Combo CR60 pro sounds really good too and that's because the cab is a well made 3/4" plywood enclosure. You can feel the air more with the combo amp and it sounds great cranked or at bedroom levels. I like what I bought, the 112 Crush Pro 60 watt combo amp is a excellent buy and if you know what you want out of it you will enjoy the amp. The cleans are great and the reverb sounds really good. The dirt channel is great for dirty blues or rock n roll but for that high gain I use pedals.*forty6and2*

This amp has a wide range of settings to dial in whatever sound you need for various types of guitars and pickups. I was a little disappointed in the volume limitation when plugging in my acoustics with passive pickups- they just didn't have any punch even with the dial turned up, but that was corrected somewhat with an XLR>RCA converter jack to boost the signal. Also the pre-amp in the effects box I have does the same thing. It produced great tone and presence on an electric 12 string, classical, and irish bouzouki which all have active pickups. What really impressed me was how it handles vocal and instrument together. No feedback and plenty of headroom. I'm glad I settled on this model to meet my needs rather than some of the others out there of the same capabilities. The looper is another fun feature that allows you to lay some percussive rhythm down to play along to, or a chord progression to build upon. Another plus is its small footprint and light weight for portability. I plan to be using it in small rooms where it fills the space without being over bearing. It is a perfect tool for solo performances, but would probably hold its own in a small group as well.super-perfundo

I am very pleased with this amplifier. It is very small, (like a large lunchbox) and light. 8 AA batteries can power this or you can use the included ac/dc inverter. After playing with the mic input and plugging my Taylor; its obvious that this is the easiest to use and best sounding acoustic amp I own. Subtle nuances in voice and guitar are replicated so clearly, I forget which part is already recorded on the looper and what is the live part I am playing! No kiddin, its that good! Speakin of the looper, that is probably the best practice feature of any piece of gear I own. Nothing fancy, and 40 seconds tops, but it is falling off a log ez and really does give you enough time to lay down a basic track. My guitar has never sounded so crisp and clean, ambience/chorus on both channels are very high quality! Don't let the size fool you, this isn't a toy, but I guarantee if you get one, you will wanna play for hours! Few pieces of gear have ever been such a pleasant surprise!wdc27909

I ordered this amp because I just wanted something new. I have a carvin x100b, a line 6 240 modeling amp and an old 100 watt Yamaha from the 70s…. love all of them but this Randall is sweet. I like the 3 channels, the foot switch and the sound is very pleasing. However this amp is heavy but I dont play professionally so I am fine with that. It is nice that it comes with casters though. Very solid amp, very quiet just make sure you have good cables and the electronics in your guitar are operating correct.Karl C

Quality: This amp is EXTREMELY solid for it's ~$500 price-point. It truly is built to last and take some punishment while doing so. The soft finish WILL take damage fairly quickly, though. Other than the soft finish, the build quality is superb. Tone: The Green channel is very nice for a cheaper amp and takes pedals exceedingly well. The bright switch adds a noticeable and sparkly treble bump. The Red channel has an evenly saturated crunch that really holds it's own in moderate-gain riffing. The Blue channel's tone honestly disappointed me. It's very bass heavy and nasally and with a Duncan JB I could not get enough highs to show through for studio recording. Gain: This is a MODERATE gain amp. You can get some heavy crunch but, you will need a gain/boost pedal if you want heavy gain. Stage Ready? Yes. At 3/4 volume, having no trouble keeping up with a Crate Blue-Voodoo halfstack. I highly recommend this amp for bedroom and small-venue playing.Caleb B.

Sound: I run the eq bass-6, mid-5, treble-6. Mid scoop engaged. Bass boost on. It crushes!!! I prefer the red channel for rhythm. Features: Everything looks and works great. I was concerned about the box being made of particleboard. In my experience it seems that particleboard tends to suck some volume. That being said. This combo is beastly loud. I can't imagine how loud it would be with a solid birch plywood box. Ease of Use: Super easy to use. Nothing complicated about this thing. Quality: Only time will tell. It sounds great now. Value: Definitely worth the money. I knew the gain channels would sound good. I wasn't expecting the clean channel to sound so good though. Super crisp and punchy. Manufacturer Support: Factory support was good. zZounds return/exchange process was super painless. 2 weeks after getting my amp the master volume was giving me issues. Either the pot was bad or it was a bad solder job. I contacted zZounds and they send out a return label right away. I contacted Randall also because I believed it would be an easy fix and didn't really think it was worth the trouble and expense to exchange. Randall said they wanted to get it back to see if they had an issue with the manufacturing process. This was good to hear. They said they weren't just concerned with making my amp work right but trying to prevent this from happening to future purchasers. I got my new amp fast! Thanks zZounds! The Wow Factor: I have a pretty good collection of amps. I didn't NEED this amp but I love playing it and I'm glad I got it. Overall: I got this to transport in my car back and forth for writing sessions. At almost 100 lbs I didn't really think that one out. All I was concerned with was getting killer tone without hauling a half stack. I never expected this thing to be capable of such volume & clarity. Sounds killer for not being a tube amp! I did consider swapping out the speakers for some lighter ones but I have several cabs with various speakers (Vintage 30, Greenbacks, Greenback Heritage, EVM 12Ls) and I really preferred the stock speakers with this power section. This thing is definitely loud enough by itself to practice with a full band.Timmy

Great sounding clean tones for playing at home, which is why i bought it – my beloved Mustang 1.1 started having issues and I MUST have a great clean tone to relax. Wanted a tube amp and did my research. Decided on the Blackstar. I must say I'm extremely happy with it. The reverb is KILLER to my ear and does a great job at adding shimmer without destroying the tone. No external effects are needed to get a gorgeous clean tone – I use my Zoom G3Xn into the front end to get univibe and compression. The effects loop is very functional. The amp can be very bass heavy, depending on your instrument, but if you run a 10 band EQ (go with MXR) in the loop you amp can achieve any tonal result you want. My best sound comes with everything at 12, with some of the bass rolled off with the MXR EQ – but its just a matter of taste i guess. This amp moves a lot of air when you use the drive channel, and if your not pleased with the amps distortion it does respond really well to distortion pedals. I'm mostly in the clean blues zone but must brag on the amps darker side: it can get very loud and stay rich. I haven't tried any of the direct recording features. The 2 selectable characters of clean that the amp offers thrill me and ,again, the reverb is classy and a bit different from other amps ( I read that is a room reverb). Highly recommended.Tim H.

This amp out of the box sounds fantastic. Crystal clear clean tones and a snarly gain channel that lets you choose between a more American gain tone and a British gain tone. I would say ‘cater for everyone’. But, I received my first amp and within an hour of playing I’d noticed a loud ‘POP’ when changing channels. This pop occurred if a note was being played at the same time as the channel change. (Footswitch and Amp buttons) So, of course I returned the Amp to PMT. they arranged DPD next working day collection for me, completely hassle free. I awaited my next amp, as a direct replacement. A few days later the next Blackstar HT-5R mkii arrived, box fresh like the last. I plugged the amp in, let the tubes warm and away I went. Within minutes of found a great tone again, but the loud ‘POP’ I heard from the first unit was there again on this amp. I tried 4 sockets in the house in case there was any kind of interference/static, but to no avail. Absolutely gutted, I called PMT again. The amp was returned for the second time. Apparently this hasn’t happened to anyone else, I may just be unlucky or the amp may not get along with the electrics in my home. Just check this out as soon as you buy one. I’ve tried two other valve amps on my house since, including a Blackstar Artist 10 AE and an Orange terror with cab, and there’s absolutely zero noise with these. Very important to note here, this is not a slam of PMT, they’ve been absolutely brilliant throughout this whole thing. Customer service is second to none and they are very easy to contact. Used these for a very long time and I will be returning once stores open to try out a new amp.Jack H.
