Guitar Amp Head Kit For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

I just completed my Mod 102 kit. An excellent experience! I was delighted with the quality of components, clarity of instructions, and, perhaps most importantly, the sound of the amp. It is very loud – currently running into my Fender Twin Reverb cab (2×12) and very sweet! I will be running it into a new 1×12 cab with a new Celestion G12 M Heritage 'Greenback' when I get a case for the speaker (on order). My only criticism (and something to look out for) is that the chassis is very nicely painted in gray gunmetal paint. Even following the directions to file all the holes, it is very hard to get a good ground connection at every point a terminal strip connects. I worried about this, and about 1/3rd of the way through the build, took an ohm meter to check all the connections, and as I had suspected, some of the connections were not great (9-10 ohms or so!) So I removed the terminal strips (with the components I had already soldered still attached) and scraped away the paint under the tabs of the strips to ensure a good connection. Re-testing showed virtually zero resistance. I'd strongly recommend scraping the paint away at all holes under the chassis before getting started on the build. Even better, suggest that Amplified Parts leave the inside chassis unpainted (at least around the important holes). Aside that one criticism, I am delighted with the kit and with Amplified Parts. Everything was delivered promptly and they are a class outift. I'll probably try some of their other kits soon.vpmerlyn

I spent three evenings building the MOD102. The instructions are very easy to understand and the amp has a great Fender sound. I had one grounding issue that was easily fixed with a little help from tech support, which was excellent. If you're good at following step by step instructions and can solder well this is a fun little amp to build. Only small issue is the labels. They could stand an improvement.Brandon

I just finished this amp build and it sounds fantastic! I also just finished a Marshall 18 Watt clone and I have to say that the Mod102+ holds its own very nicely alongside the Marshall. In fact, I will probably use the Mod102+ for recording because it sounds amazing at lower volumes (the Marshall is loud AF). Honestly, if I were only going to build one of them today, it would be the Mod. I'm blown away by the tone! Great kit with excellent instructions. Great bang for the buck. The parts all seem to be top quality. I love the old style cloth solid core wire, too. I find it much easier to work with than modern stranded wire. The labels are a bit lame but I covered them with packing tape as suggested before cutting them out and they look fine. If you're thinking about building an amp, build this one.danjbeckett

Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207

What it's not: Not a $1k boutique tube amp. Not a mid-size club amp (unless you have great monitors and a good sound guy). What it is: A well designed, very affordable little monster that will give enough stage volume at 5W for rehearsals in a full rock band or small club, and will also allow you to drive the output stage at that 1W or 1/2W setting for recording at home. The amp sounds best at 5W and driven into either a 4ohm cabinet or two 8ohm cabs. If you use it to drive an 8ohm cab, you are getting only 70% of its potential. I only use el84 based amps. i love their dark, throaty sound, and while this amp doesn't have the punch or snap I get from my 15W custom built el 84 amps, it sounds great for rehearsal or recording. I am a little bit worried about long-term build quality. The input jack is plastic. I have a hard time seeing that surviving a year of rehearsals without breaking. This is a great supplemental amp for rehearsals and recording. Very smartly designed. Good feature set. And if you like the el84 style sound, it delivers it above expectations at this price range. In these days of small solid state, practice amps, this little amp gives you tube tone and more at a very affordable price. A 12ax7 preamp tube and an EL84 power tube provide the tone along with built in reverb, 2 band EQ, gain and a "phat" overdrive switch for added crunch. The three stage attenuator is a nice touch. The stock Bugera tubes are OK but I switched them out with Tung-Sols which provided a rich creamy overdrive more to my liking. Great sound when plugged into my Orange 8" or 12" cab plus headphone jack for late night playing. Great amp for the price!Isom

I bought the amplifier based on sound clips and others reviews. I love the amps clean channel with OD, Eq and delay in the signal chain for my driven sound. It gets a very articulated, clear, deep throaty sound that is intoxicating for rock sounds. I only have to turn it up to about 4-5 to be clearly heard in the mix. I don't care much for the OD channel as I find it a bit harsh for my taste, even when I dial it back a bit & Eq. it. The only comparisons I have are to my VOX AC 50 and Mesa V mark 25 valve amps. This amp is a great, inexpensive alternative that is ultimately portable – glad I bought it!Dr Crusher

This is a good amp that will give you different results based on your pickups and speaker cab. The tone stack is a bit dark so I like it less with humbuckers than with single coils, but it's still very useable either way. Depending on how you set it, it may or may not have trouble cutting through a band mix. I haven't had that problem, but my amp is always mic'd and we don't play super loud. The dirty channel is – from what I understand – more like an OD pedal overlaid on top of the clean channel. It sounds good and has its own lo/hi EQ and can go from a semi-clean boost to about as much gain as a tubescreamer or the like. Sounds very good, IMO, to the point that it would be possible to use this amp with no pedals for a gig. And it does take pedals well – I haven't run into anything that doesn't sound good. Overall this is an excellent lightweight amp that sounds great and is very giggable. I don't know that it's "better' or "worse" than "a tube amp" (as if tube amps are one generic thing). It just sounds good. I've never felt it lacked anything. I run it through either a 1×10, 1×12 or 1×15 cab and all sound great.Al

Love the clean channel – sparkly without ice pick highs. I don't care for the OD channel, it sounds too harsh for my style. I get the sound I want through an old GenX 2 from Digitech fed into the amp & out to 2 single 12" speakers. I'm blown away by how loud this little amp can get. It gives a full, thick throaty sound that is very articulate and gives singing highs when needed. The portability and sound delivery is amazing! I bought the open box model and couldn't be happier. My main amp is a Boogie & this sounds close – quality sound.Dr Crusher

The Hotone Freeze B is good on replicating the "Friedman" amp on a cheap budget for musicians to experiment on different tones. Better on budget than paying near $4000 or it's mini head amp $300. Over all, it's good to have to use and switch other head mini amps instead of owning the real deal. Way too much $. For a 5 watt amp, it's gets loud and that's good for practice or even on small parties.wino-1061

I'm primarily a bass player but also play guitar. All of my guitar amps are low wattage tube amps from under 1 watt up to 15 watts. I got into the Nano amps as they had some abilities I wanted such as effects loops, headphone outs, aux in and ability to run on batteries. Yes. These come with 19v power supplies. I tried them with a standard 9v supply and while there was a reduction in clean headroom, I actually found the overdrive/distortion tones more natural. After establishing that they worked at lower voltages, I made a 9.6 battery pack using Eneloops. This way, I can use it in bed (or anywhere) into headphones. It'll power a speaker cab but I use the power supply for that unless I want to play outside. This is my 4th and final amp from the Nano series. My 1st and favorite remains the Mojo Diamond for its Fender tones. It even sounds great with bass. I actually prefer it to my Thunder Bass. If you're only going to get one, that would get my vote. Then use pedals for other tones. I also have the British Invasion for the VOX tones. I wanted to round things out with something like a Marshall. The Purple Wind seemed the obvious choice but I wanted something a little different. This is supposed to sound like a Friedman which is Marshall-like. It's got a nice bite. It also has a nice clean tone with the gain turned down. Due to the higher gain, this is noisier than the others as expected when not touching strings or bridge. I wish they sold these and the power supply separately. Seems silly to buy 4 power supplies when I only need 1. To be honest, at full price, I would have passed but Sam Ash has these at a great price I could not refuse.Steven

This is an amazing amp. It sounds just like an Engl & the eq section really boost or cuts the freqs. For it only being 5 watts I was really surprised with the power & tone. It sounds as good as a 50 watt amp &this little thing can be used for shows running directly to the mixing console especially with an in ear monitor system. I have a few Hotone products & there all solid built & sound great. Well worth the money.properaddiction

I recently completed the British 18W head kit from Tube Depot, and can't say enough good things about it! From start to finish, the kit exceeded my expectations. Ordering, shipping, and customer service were top-notch. No issues with components. The instructions and documentation were amazing, worth their weight in gold. The end result was an amplifier that sounds incredible! I incorporated a few of the suggested options- PPIMV, Tremolo HI/LO sw., Tube/SS Rectifier sw., and choke. The sound is amazing, I'm finding it very difficult turning the amp off- once I start playing through the amp I don't want to stop. I would absolutely recommend Tube Depot for anyone interested in building a guitar amplifier. The clear, well-written instructions really made this an enjoyable project. This was my first amplifier build, and I had no issues thanks to the great documentation.Dave R

I ordered this kit with a mod to use KT 66 power tubes. The changes were easy to make and it sounds fantastic. The classic JTM 45 tone at a manageable volume level with the master volume control. Just to test it out I've used a power soak and the tone is exactly the same using the master volume. A couple of real nice features of the design are the negative feedback switch and the ability to switch between solid state and tube ratification (the tube sounds better to my ears). Great sounding clean tones for playing at home, which is why i bought it – my beloved Mustang 1.1 started having issues and I MUST have a great clean tone to relax. Wanted a tube amp and did my research. Decided on the Blackstar. I must say I'm extremely happy with it. The reverb is KILLER to my ear and does a great job at adding shimmer without destroying the tone. No external effects are needed to get a gorgeous clean tone – I use my Zoom G3Xn into the front end to get univibe and compression. The effects loop is very functional. The amp can be very bass heavy, depending on your instrument, but if you run a 10 band EQ (go with MXR) in the loop you amp can achieve any tonal result you want. My best sound comes with everything at 12, with some of the bass rolled off with the MXR EQ – but its just a matter of taste i guess. This amp moves a lot of air when you use the drive channel, and if your not pleased with the amps distortion it does respond really well to distortion pedals. I'm mostly in the clean blues zone but must brag on the amps darker side: it can get very loud and stay rich. I haven't tried any of the direct recording features. The 2 selectable characters of clean that the amp offers thrill me and ,again, the reverb is classy and a bit different from other amps ( I read that is a room reverb). Highly recommended.Tim H.

This amp out of the box sounds fantastic. Crystal clear clean tones and a snarly gain channel that lets you choose between a more American gain tone and a British gain tone. I would say ‘cater for everyone’. But, I received my first amp and within an hour of playing I’d noticed a loud ‘POP’ when changing channels. This pop occurred if a note was being played at the same time as the channel change. (Footswitch and Amp buttons) So, of course I returned the Amp to PMT. they arranged DPD next working day collection for me, completely hassle free. I awaited my next amp, as a direct replacement. A few days later the next Blackstar HT-5R mkii arrived, box fresh like the last. I plugged the amp in, let the tubes warm and away I went. Within minutes of found a great tone again, but the loud ‘POP’ I heard from the first unit was there again on this amp. I tried 4 sockets in the house in case there was any kind of interference/static, but to no avail. Absolutely gutted, I called PMT again. The amp was returned for the second time. Apparently this hasn’t happened to anyone else, I may just be unlucky or the amp may not get along with the electrics in my home. Just check this out as soon as you buy one. I’ve tried two other valve amps on my house since, including a Blackstar Artist 10 AE and an Orange terror with cab, and there’s absolutely zero noise with these. Very important to note here, this is not a slam of PMT, they’ve been absolutely brilliant throughout this whole thing. Customer service is second to none and they are very easy to contact. Used these for a very long time and I will be returning once stores open to try out a new amp.Jack H.

Recently bought this thing after saving up for months. I pretty much ripped it out of the box, plugged it in, powered it on, went through the very quick and simple setup process, and in minutes it was ready for use. I’ve now had it for a few days and already it has made my life a ton easier. Being a musician that goes on the road a lot, carrying around an amp can be a huge hassle. The Kemper eliminates that hassle, while also maintaining an amazing tone. A few things to keep in mind, though:

1. It doesn’t create an EXACT carbon copy of your amp, but it comes EXTREMELY close, so close in fact that I, having played guitar for around 7 years, can barely tell the difference, and the very microscopic differences there are, are nothing that can’t be ironed out with small tweaking to the EQ, specifically the high end

2. The volume may vary depending on how the venue has their sound system set up, so that’s something to be mindful of. You may switch on and blow eardrums at some places, or you may switch on and barely hear anything in other places, so be mindful of that.

3. You will have an amazing tone, so just be mindful of that as well. Even the stock profiles sound great, but the Kemper is taken to a whole new level once you start using your own profiles, as well as commercially sold profiles, such as the ones from Tone Junkie.

The built in Performance mode also allows for a seamless switch between up to five different rigs at the click of a button, which would be impossible to do using only analog gear.

The Kemper can be a pretty big learning curve, though, especially for people like me, who have used analog gear for years, and were even leery of making the switch to digital at first. But after the initial learning curve and getting familiar with it, I promise you will be glad you made the switch.Brandon Johnson

I bought the 600w version after a ton of research and inner debate. I had solid state rack stuff in the early 90's and hated it. It always had something missing from the tone, it seemed shallow and fake. I turned into a die hard tube guy after that. I pledged never to buy any computer amp ever again. I dismissed the Kemper at first. But once I saw some videos and heard some profiles, I was a little interested. I couldn't get past buying a computer and having 1000's of tones at the turn of a knob. Once I heard it live, thru a cabinet in a rehearsal space, I was floored and very surprised. My friend went from a 68 Marshall to a 6505 to a Fender Twin Reverb with a turn of a knob in seconds. I've owned very expensive tube amps with very distinct tone signatures I thought could not be replicated. I was 100% wrong. I profiled my Engl head and did a blind test to see if I could tell the difference in tone once I shaped it up. I honestly couIdn't tell the difference. When I guessed, I picked the Kemper 4 out of 5 times. I went to the rig exchange and found a profile that was reasonably close to a 59 plexi. I tweaked it for 10 minutes. Within that 10 minutes, I saved thousands on a new tube amp. The Kemper is a perfect fit for the skeptic. There's a million forums and tutorials out there so you'll never feel lost. Once you learn the menus and how to dial in a tone or profile an amp, you're hooked. This is the most versitle amp I've ever owned. I am completely satisified.Rob

Like the title says, you can find 1000's of these for sale used and there's good reason for that. It doesn't sound like tube at all. I think it's good for the studio where I've used one. But live? If you're fine with a solid state head, then fine. The modeling really isn't any better than higher end Line 6 modeling. This past labor day, Great White was playing a festival near by. They had a total of 8 Marshall 4×12's on stage with 4 DSL 100 heads. Not one of them was powered on. So I looked around for what they were going to use, I saw 2 Kemper Profiler heads. 1 for each guitarist. The sound was absolutely terrible. Neither amp sounded anything close to a Marshall or like tube for that matter. You could hear the cab emulation a mile away. At this price point go another direction. I'm running this through a 1×12 Bugera cab (which to my ear is a pretty neutral speaker, but sounds great). Unless your band plays way too loud this amp should give you enough volume for gigging (even at 25 watts through an 8 ohm speaker). Takes pedals well – all of my drive pedals sound great. The MV50 reacts like my tube amps with a boost pedal in front (Fulltone & Xotic). I really like the attenuator, and at home I play at 1/100 power with the volume at about noon. While this amp has a lot of clean headroom you will start to get some hair when you push it, but in a good way. It's the kind of sound where you can play clean by picking lightly but if you hit it hard you'll hear that you're on the edge of breakup. Not surprising for a Vox, this is not a mid-scooped Fender clean. Mids are present, but not pushed. It is a warm clean, not sterile or spikey at all to my ear. I've been playing this primarily with a Boss Fender reverb pedal and the tone really is glorious. I don't feel like I'm missing anything from my tube amps. Not a thing. I wish I'd had this thing years ago when I was throwing my back out moving 60lb tube amps to and from gigs. What I don't like. The unit feels very solid, seems like a quality piece of gear, but the mini chicken head knobs on the front feel cheap (a minor complaint). Mainly I don't like how much they have crammed on the back panel. You've got tiny switches for power, flat/deep, eco (shuts it off after 15 min. of non-use) and the attenuator, as well as headphone/line out & speaker out. Once you get a speaker cable plugged in it feels very cramped. I'd much rather that the power switch was on the front. Lastly, I wish I could get 50 watts @ 8 ohms, just for the headroom. This is giggable for me at 25 watts into 8 ohms & still gives you good headroom, but YMMV. I primarily use single coils. With hot humbuckers I don't know if you'd run out of clean headroom or not. With all 50 watts you'd be fine, I'm sure.NE Guy

First – let me say that this is a good, tiny pedal-platform amp, if that's what you're looking for. It has a very good base clean tone and it takes pedals well. I think most players looking to downsize would find this usable. If all you need is a good clean tone – for jazz, say – take a listen to one of these. I find the 4 ohm thing a bummer. I don't own any 4 ohm cabs, and after thinking about jumping through hoops to get all 50w available to me, I decided it wasn't worth it. This amp sounds really good, but at the very least for clean headroom, anyone looking for a pedal platform usually wants to control where the edge of breakup is, or have it totally clean. Beyond that, there's just too much crammed onto the (very small) back of the amp. Tiny switches plus the speaker out jack just mean it's hard to find the on/off switch, etc. Put the power switch on the front so I don't have to hunt for it. After having the MV50 a while I decided to try a DV Mark Micro 50 – and I like it better than the Vox. It's more versatile with 3 band EQ, and I have a full 50w to play with. Overall I prefer the DV Mark – I just feel it suits my clean & light OD tones better than the Vox. But if I had to gig with the Vox I'd be OK with it. Having said that, several months ago I came across a great deal on a Blues Cube Hot EL84 (more Vox-ish tone than the standard) and frankly, it blows the other two away. It's a combo, of course. So I'm keeping the DV Mark as a backup. The Vox has gone. Anyone looking to downsize should give one of these a listen. There is good to great tone in there, depending on your needs. Again – the 4 ohm load to get 50w is a bummer. But not everyone needs that much power. The small box is pretty cute and a cool conversation starter – but for practical purposes something slightly larger would've been a better idea, IMO.Mr. Joe

Needed to upgrade my amplifier, and have been in love with Orange Amps for a few years. The cleans on this (coupled with my new PPC212OB) really make my Fender XII shine, from highs to lows. The Strat also comes through very nicely, and of course the SG sounds nice and beefy. The dirty channel has wonderful clarity and crunch. The gain mixed with the sustain from my SG just sounds divine. Will definitely be using this head every day for the rest of my life. As always AMS made the process super easy. 10/10 would recommend both the product and AMSMatt

This is the amp and tone I have been in search of. It has plenty of gain for metal and the EQ dials in nicely. The clean channel is excellent as well. You will not find a better amp for the price, what a killer value! You could potentially spend a lot of money on an amp of this caliber, but probably won't get any better tone quality for spending lot's of extra $! It has all the knobs, bell's and whistles that you'll ever need, including a four button footswitch; clean, crunch, lead and FX/boost. There are some bad reviews on Bugera amps like when an expelled tube blows a fuse and someone thinks that it deems It a piece of junk. Be prepared this amp is bulky heavy but sounds beautiful. The clean channel crisp clear. The crunchy gain is FLIPPIN CRAZY great tone. And for the lead channel well its the same depending on how you have your settings. All IN All i am very pleased with this amp and it can only get better with tube modifications. so if you want to blow the doors off of your house then this is the amp!dmenezes99

Both channel's six amp-banks as well as the reverb effects are re-assignable via the interface software. The amp-models are warm and true to their tube-amp origins. I'm loving the overhead-power which greatly supports the tube-amp realism. The reverbs are amazing, to include licensed spring and in-house versions. The front-face is "classic" and the unit is built like a tank, (but only weighs seven pounds). Rack-mount ears are included, and the optional foot-controller is a "must".SoftStrum

Marco is a Genius. His DV guitar amps have incredible tone, power to spare, and thoughtful well designed electronic architecture…..these amps are even more beautiful on the "inside" than they are on their jewel-like outsides. All features on this amp are well thought out, except the built in tuner, I wish they had left that off. …it is lame, and does not work well, …the threshold input level is set too high, …you have to really thump the string on a strat hard to get it to react with single coil level input. The digital reverb is cavernous. The spring reverb is…simulated spring reverb. (swap it out for the digital version online). Aside from the fact that it is incredibly easy to conjure up great tone of any sort, and that the hi, mid and low tone controls are very effective, and complete any tone shaping assignment, the real beauty of this amp is in the "Gutsy" decision of DV to go with a completely KNOB BASED INTERFACE. I applaud this simplified approach!! Bravo Marco…. No menus, no cursors, no drop downs, no steps, no parameter buttons. simply turn the two modeling knobs to any of 12 amp models…..enough for any guitarist. And there are other amp models downloadable from the DV website, that can be downloaded into those 12 slots. Where I was very disappointed was with the downloadable instruction manual. It is completely and utterly insufficient. Example: I believe when the tuner is not in tuner mode, it is some kind of power meter? It is not even explained or discussed in the manual. Example: When using the optional foot controller, (you can use a midi pedal instead), there appears to be a way to activate or blend the two channels at the same time…. there is absolutely NOTHING about this in any of the documentation for this amp. Example: It has effects loops that are unmarked as to their operating levels, (are they instrument or line level?) there is no information in the manual documents about this what-so-ever. It deserves better.Mike

About five years ago I picked up a DV Mark 2×12 cabinet both because it is ridiculously light but mainly because it sounded really good. I have paired it with all kinds of amplifiers including 65 Amps, Red Plate, PRS, Fractal Ultra and others and it sounds great with all. The I have been toying with adding a simple, light, solid state amp to play live with but have not seen or heard any that I liked. When I first learned of the EVO 1 last year, I kind of dismissed it thinking it would be just another modeler however, I kept looking and finally decided I should give it a try. It was small, light, powerful and seemed to have a nice balance of features that would still be stage friendly. I received it last week and had a chance to play with it at home before taking it to an outdoor gig we played this last weekend. During the week I messed with the pre-loaded models and settled on two, one for each channel, that I really liked. Channel one is set up for clean because I mainly rely on having a clear, punchy basic sound that I can then use pedals to get varying levels of overdrive. I set up channel two with a light crunch to give me just a bit "more" when I need it. Finally, I set up the boost for a couple of dB to give a little lift for leads. Live, the unit performed flawlessly and had more than enough volume for our band. We are an eleven piece band with a horn section, so I tend to play cleaner to make sure everything sits in the mix. Sound-wise, once the tone is dialed in, it sounds like a good, stout 50 watt tube amp and takes pedals extremely well. If I had to describe the sound, it is ever so slightly bright but not in an obtrusive or obnoxious way. It just makes it sound clear and present and when played completely clean, has an almost HiFi quality to it which I find perfect as it is and is the perfect basis for building other tones on top of it. Overall, I am very impressed with the form factor, the build quality and mostly the sound. Great amp!Jim

This amp is based on the circuit of the Soldano Hot Rod 100+ head, with the depth mod included. Designed by the man himself for asian manufacture at a third of the price means boutique level tone at a working man's price. The strength of this amp is just flat out, pure honest tone. The Soldano circuit design is just fantastic, sounding immense and lively while keeping phenomenal clarity and harmonic complexity in crunch and high gain settings. Clean tones are fine, but it won't win awards. This amp really wants to roar, and boy does it deliver when you let it loose. Cons? It's a simple amp built on an 80s design, more about pure sound than features. You won't get USB, emulated recording outs, or even independent channel EQ. In that way, it is a real step into the past. It's important to be aware that these amps ship with fairly poor quality generic tubes. Replace them with common tubes of your personal preference, and the amp comes to life.Promit

I'm a studio and perfoming musician. I need reliable gear that sounds great. First of all, the tone is superb. To be completely honest, it doesn't quite get a metal tone without a boost. It gets a very hard rock tone, or maybe classic metal, but for modern music, really any overdrive will do. I've used cheap boosts and that really brings out a lot in this thing. It's pretty darn loud, but with the 50/100 watt swtich, it is easily capable of bedroom volumes. I also like to use an EQ in the effects loop with this thing as well. This amp needs a few things, but as a starting point, you really couldn't get much better for the money. The crunch channel is also nice, you put the gain on 1-2 and you have a really nice clean tone! Its a GREAT head.Djosh_Guitar

I picked up an open box version of this amp, and what drew me to Jet City was the relationship top Soldano. I was not disappointed. The overdrive channel is phenomenal. I also have a Laney Ironheart 60H and a Marshall DSL100HR. The Marshall gives me this nice British sounds of an EL34 amp, and I thought the Laney was a great metal amp until I played the Jet City. Wow is about all I can say. The warmth, the gain, and the power far exceeded my expectations. Don't get me wrong, this thing will do rock, blues, hillbilly, you name it (sorry country fans/ players… just not my thing). The one gripe is the shared EQ. Other than that, I can't think of a thing I would change.Willie

The blue channel is very pantera with no pedals. Noise gate in the effects loop is all it needs. Emulated out sounds great for di recording. During a massive tube shortage this is an awesome back up amp.Mike

Sound: The clean channel is basically a low overdrive channel. Which is fine by me since I never use this amp for clean tones. The number 2 "classic" overdrive is really the best gain you can get for the price. I'm a firm believer in amp over pedals when it comes to distortion and this amp definitely delivers some serious distortion. Very good tribute to the old dime amps. Channel 3 is more suited to the newer "core" sound. It's my low channel for when I want to practice and not blow the windows off but if I turned it up it would rip paint off with the amount of gain. It's not a bad lead channel but the tone will take some time to match up if you tend to switch a lot. All in all, it's not an RH100 but it's not at all a bad amp. Especially for the price. Features: The built in noise gate is crap but it does help. The reverb has a tendency to over saturate and leave this annoying hum if you have it too high. The eq isn't over responsive but it's not dead so you can shape your tone fairly easily. I got around all of these problems by adding an eq turning down the reverb and getting a cheap noise gate and now it's near perfect. Ease of Use: It's a solid state amp so it's literally plug in and play. Finding a tone is fairly easy if you don't mind taking a minute and dialing it in. Footswitches make the world go round… Nuff said… Quality: It seems well made and I take pretty good care of my stuff so it should last a while. Value: This is pretty self explanatory… Manufacturer Support: Never needed it. The Wow Factor: For the price… WOW Overall: I got this in a pinch to go with an old orange cab for my band. Probably the best quick decision I've made in a while.Juan

I have always wanted a Randall Amp but have never had the means or opportunity to purchase one until now. There are pros and cons to this amp but the props most definitely outweigh the cons. Pros Amp's 3 channels make it very easy to switch between genres of music Clean channel is very crisp and other channels have enough "punch" to knock your socks off Buttons are well organized for ease of use and user functionality Built in bass boost and mid scoop make this amp unique Cons The only problem i have found is that it sometimes requires a noise gate in the effects loop as playing at higher gain settings sometimes causes it to hum. Though this is a solid state i feel as if it competes well with higher end tube amps. Overall this is amp is definitely worth the money.Nathaniel

Mighty sound in a micro package. And it's not a compromise on a traditional tube amp or head. Lots of options, channels and tonal choices. Build quality excellent too. Open the box, tested with a Katana 2×12 cab, sound was awesome. Same goes to a Laney 2×12 but sounded much more better. Considering the size of the Amp1, the Nanotube is a real deal. Drives is authentic. Growls like the full tube amp head. Cleans nicely from high to low gain. Tried again with a Yamaha powered speaker and speaker out to a BluBox, cuts through with the band easily. Overall: I've been looking for portable, potent, Plexi and then some Marshall tone and kept trying little modelers. Most sounded fine, but I struggled to get them right. I have so many great Plexi sounds…and then some…in my Kemper, but wanted something to fit in a gig bag. I remembered having seen Jack Gardiner's video about this and LOVING the sounds he got. When I played this at NAMM 2020, Hall D was just too loud to really appreciate it. But I remembered liking it. So I ordered it. Wow! Let me tell you, I like it so much I just ordered the Remote1 switch for it to use it for more than just a travel option! This thing sounds phenomenal!More often than not, clean channels sound like afterthoughts. This amp has a beautiful clean channel and when combined with the boost gives you excellent, chimey, pushed clean and Vox-like tone. Henning Paulie had Thomas Blug on and they got really close to his Morgan AC30 style amp. Frighteningly close! Well, it really does it! And the dynamics of this amp are incredible. Even with the boost engaged, I can roll the volume down and clean up the vintage and classic channels nicely! I have a lot of amps. This hangs with the big boys easily. And it takes pedals as well as any big amp. I am so happy I can stop looking for a plexi for my gig bag. zZounds has a great return policy. It won't hurt to try it. But I promise you won't likely send it back. I know I won't. This is a keeper.Randy

I ordered a positive grid 600W head it arrived defective and I returned it the next day I then ordered and paid for a second one because I didn't want to miss out on the deal. Well today I called them because the second head was not being shipped and I was told that I would not be getting the second amp because they were out. They are refunding all my money that's not the problem the problem is I was told they had another to sell me which I was find with even though they should have set one aside because they knew the first one was being shipped back. I was not even offered a deal a a rack one which they have in stock I think I should have been offered a deal on one of the other positive grid. This amp is incredible. Having pretty much any sound at my fingertips, in a unit which can go from whisper quiet (but still great sounding) to stage volume is awesome. The knobs/switches etc all feel like very high quality, and the added software licence is a nice bonus. It may seem pricey, but it is way, way cheaper than buying all those classic amps, and the sounds are indistinguishable. Can't recommend highly enough.malediction99

I was very excited to get the Bias head after many reviews online. To my disappointment, it seems that this amounts to a midi controller for the Bias Amp software and pretty much nothing else. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any kind of usable tone out of this (possibly due to my own lack of understanding or maybe it needs to be run out of a cab) but, the thing that made me give it a two star rating is that I found out the Bias FX software cannot also be used with this head. There is so much more that could have been done with this thing. I am very disappointed with the execution of this product and had hoped for something more than the bare minimum amount of functionality.NICK

overall I really like this amp. the dirty channel has a good crunch. Not a very tainted sound, which I like a lot. Clean channel is not real chimy like some, but nice and clean. the face plate is also black, unlike the 30 watt which is easier to see. The issue is the channel switching. While some amps are known for a load pop, this is quite the opposite, and I am guessing the pop is what they were trying to avoid. this one actually drops in volume and then comes back up between channels. Deal breaker. I can't use this live if it cuts out. Really wanted to have this kicking around for a second amp. But I will be returning this.brian

First one arrived and the overdrive channel sounded awful. Made arrangements to return it and the process went quick, I had a new one a week after sending the bad one back. The second one turned out as advertised. You can dial in a wide range of tones and has that beautiful tube sound. The reverb is just a tad weak but still ok. Also, effects pedals sound great. It?s an awesome buy.Leo

I had a 50 watt 6L6 guitar head and sold it only to regret it later. I saw this one on sale and I took a chance. Glad I did. Disclaimer: I only use it for a pedal platform, although I have tried the gain channel. It's "ok" (not great) but to use the amp that way you'll really have to work with the both channels to achieve unity volume. As a clean channel pedal platform it's great. Like others have said the reverb is lacking but I usually just leave it on 10:00 for ambience. This amp is LOUD and can easily hang with a large band if needed. As far as reliability, time will tell, but it seems well made IMO.john

This is no toy. This thing is built like a Tank. It does everything it claims to do and more! In the past, Bugera had problems with build quality and reliability issues. I can honestly say that that is a thing of the past. Unlike a lot of folks out there, I don't buy a product for it's name, but rather I buy what will satisfy my needs as a musician and at an affordable price. Bugera has outdone themselves with the new Infinum technology. For a tube amp to be self biasing is a wonderful thing ( no more trips to the shop, when new tubes are needed), saving time and money on maintenance. Not only that, but it allows you to use a variety of different tubes for an endless palette of tonal response. On the TriRec, they have added three different modes for rectifiers, Tubes, silicone diodes and a combination of using both. Add to that, the ability to go from 1 Watt to 100 Watts or anywhere between (Varipower rotary control) and this thing is at home in your apartment, or in a large venue. 3 completely independent channels, 3 different levels of gain on each channel, reverb, boost and a dedicated FX loop… all foot switchable with the included 6 button controller, or it can be switched using other midi devices. All done at a fraction of the cost of some other "name brands"….who don't give you as many features or capabilities for the $$$. In the future, Bugera is going to be a force to be reckoned with.dlflash

I was pretty amazed at the sound quality of this amp. from super clean tone to Brutal distortion and everything in between. I have been playing guitar for 30 years now and this is one of the best amps I have had. I have owned quite a few of the well known brands over the years and this is as good or better than those amps. I paired the amp with a Mesa 4-12 cab, Marshall 4-12 1960 cab, Bugera 2-12 cab, Carvin 4-12 cab. Speakers from Celestion to Turbo sound to Eminence and it sounds great through all of them.JGmopar

Arrived in perfect condition, sounds incredible and cuts through all mixes. Leave on standby for at least a minute to protect the tubes (not the highest quality tubes so easy to damage) and for full tube tone let it heat up around 20 minutes. Not great for transporting, tubes can wobble slightly if moving around a lot. EQ section for channels 2 & 3 not very responsive, graphic EQ pedal in effects loop fixes problem. Very warm clean channel, drive option kicks out a great 'Status Quo' style rhythm tone. Overall brilliant amp, couple of bugs but easily fixedAnonymous

I LOVE the 5F1 kit: This was really enjoyable to build, and I had the benefit of a pro adviser to help me when I had questions, so I can even say it was easy. I am going to go as far as to say it sounds really fantastic. I use this amp almost all the time now, and with an attenuator, I can crank it all the way up and play at bedroom levels with the crunchy tube tone I crave, without disturbing the neighbors. It is every bit as great sounding as my Victoria REGAL. If you don't know what that amp is, it is all tube, has a variable power output all the way up to 35W, driven through a 15" speaker with reverb and tremolo. Obviously, this Champ kit is only 5 W, and doesn't even have an EQ (or any other frills whatsoever) and YEAH, it sounds THAT good. Rich harmonics, great crunch when cranked, sounds clean at level 3 or below, and responds well to the volume knob on your guitar. It is incredible. BUY IT!Bobby Bellpepper
