I just completed my Mod 102 kit. An excellent experience! I was delighted with the quality of components, clarity of instructions, and, perhaps most importantly, the sound of the amp. It is very loud – currently running into my Fender Twin Reverb cab (2×12) and very sweet! I will be running it into a new 1×12 cab with a new Celestion G12 M Heritage 'Greenback' when I get a case for the speaker (on order). My only criticism (and something to look out for) is that the chassis is very nicely painted in gray gunmetal paint. Even following the directions to file all the holes, it is very hard to get a good ground connection at every point a terminal strip connects. I worried about this, and about 1/3rd of the way through the build, took an ohm meter to check all the connections, and as I had suspected, some of the connections were not great (9-10 ohms or so!) So I removed the terminal strips (with the components I had already soldered still attached) and scraped away the paint under the tabs of the strips to ensure a good connection. Re-testing showed virtually zero resistance. I'd strongly recommend scraping the paint away at all holes under the chassis before getting started on the build. Even better, suggest that Amplified Parts leave the inside chassis unpainted (at least around the important holes). Aside that one criticism, I am delighted with the kit and with Amplified Parts. Everything was delivered promptly and they are a class outift. I'll probably try some of their other kits soon.vpmerlyn
I spent three evenings building the MOD102. The instructions are very easy to understand and the amp has a great Fender sound. I had one grounding issue that was easily fixed with a little help from tech support, which was excellent. If you're good at following step by step instructions and can solder well this is a fun little amp to build. Only small issue is the labels. They could stand an improvement.Brandon
I just finished this amp build and it sounds fantastic! I also just finished a Marshall 18 Watt clone and I have to say that the Mod102+ holds its own very nicely alongside the Marshall. In fact, I will probably use the Mod102+ for recording because it sounds amazing at lower volumes (the Marshall is loud AF). Honestly, if I were only going to build one of them today, it would be the Mod. I'm blown away by the tone! Great kit with excellent instructions. Great bang for the buck. The parts all seem to be top quality. I love the old style cloth solid core wire, too. I find it much easier to work with than modern stranded wire. The labels are a bit lame but I covered them with packing tape as suggested before cutting them out and they look fine. If you're thinking about building an amp, build this one.danjbeckett

I have the bluetooth version of the TP3116, and it outperforms this in audio quality and thermals by far. I was planning on using this with my desktop setup, but I will be switching back to my bluetooth amp asap. The induction coils get burning hot, and the stereo mid-high range outputs sound like mud, even to my non-audiophile ears. My speakers are 2 x 8ohms and one 4ohm sub, and I'm running the amp at 19.5v 3.5a. Very disappointing coming from Parts Express. 15 bucks essentially down the drain. Maybe my unit is defective, but if not, this is not the way to go.
I used this to bring an old Boston Acoustics powered sub back to life. Fixing it would have cost more in parts than this board did, and as a bonus, the L&R outputs power the matching BA CR 6 speakers, Power seems adequate using a surplus 20V 90W PC power supply, and I experienced none of the overheating issues some have reported. Controls are L+R volume, sub volume and master volume from left to right. Outputs can be identified either by looking at the Chinese characters which are very similar for L+R and different for the sub, or by testing as other reviewers mentioned. I'm knocking 2 stars off the rating for the following: 1) Inaccessible DC connections when panel mounted. 2) Poor Workmanship: I had to resolder the pots to make them stand at 90 degree angles to the board. for use in panel mounting. 3) Mounting holes much too close to components and in the wrong places to use with reinforcing brackets for front panel mounting. I had to strategically pick places to drill new holes for that application. 4) Threaded portions of pot shafts too short for mounting on all but the thinnest of panels. I have the version with the DIP socket op amps. I have two of them sourced from; Banggood and Parts Express. The band width (3db point) is 8KHz, at best. The left channel is not balanced well from left to the right. Actually both left channels have issues on my amps, including poor channel isolation and some inter-modulation distortion. The subwoofer peaks around 40Hz and the bandwidth is very limited and high q. Something like 20-60Hz. You were probably hoping for 30Hz – 120Hz.. There is no heat sink grease on top of the chip to heatsink interface. Many of the solder joints are not well done. A loose wire clipping was also found under the heatsink on one of the boards. If you need full range audio, avoid this product. It is worth what you pay for it, but really a waste of your money.Steve

These will interest those in the educational or curiously intrigued DIY circles, not the high end audiophiles, but that being said, do a pretty good job at what they do. For less than 5 bucks, you get a postage stamp size board that is, for the most part, laid out very nicely. The volume control is an added benefit, and while it does not pack the same punch as its competitor, the pam8403, it's sole watt is good for background near field listening. the cruella in me is deducting one star for not having a mounting hole, so be prepared to get creative if you want to fix this to something. can run off a raspberry pi and five volts all day, every day.gary

I bought this and similar from Amazon. Both are equal down to the components used. Great amps and will drive a 4ohm sub and full range satellites with ease. I might not be an audiophile but I'm pretty picky will my sound, with an 18V laptop PS this sounds great but where this really starts to shine is when you crank the voltage up to it 28V limit. There is a very noticeable increase in volume and decrease in distortion. I have a 30V 10A variable power supply. I can bring voltage up to a little over 28V before the chips overvoltage protect kicks in. Totally stable at 28V with little to no heat buildup. I've discovered that a fully charged 7s lithium ion ( 7 cells in series) will power this just fine. A Fully charged lithium ion cell is 4.2V , multiply that with 7 cells and you get 29.4V. Yes, slightly over the 28V limit but once you put a load on the battery voltage will sag slightly to around 28V. SIGNIFICANTLY more power vs using a 5 cell lithium ion that's recommend here. Even the difference from 25V to 28V is noticable when pushed hard. For those who understand what Im talking about and have the ability to assemble/ charge a 7s pack or happen to have a PS that can go that high, try it, you will thank me later. Yes, the extra voltage makes that much of a difference!Chris
Bought this as i thought it would be easier to mount than the 2.1 200w board with the lcd display and the remote. Very dissapointed. The board by music world has so much better sound. The bass on this amplifier is virtually non-existent. Im not talking about the sub volume, i mean trying to get any bass at all from the satellite speakers with this amp is impossible. the cutoff switch does nothing. This might be a decent amp with a loudness function and separate bass and treble adjustments. i will be returning it and buying another music world 2.1 amp with the remote.pete
I wanted to build a portable Bluetooth speaker that had a small sub. I have had very good luck with the PE boards so I decided to get this one and once again it was a good decision. My build goal was having the smallest foot print with as much bass as I could get. I already had the 3" Aurasound speakers and even though they are full range I wanted some tweeters to fill out the sound. I used the Peerless OC16SC04-04 Fabric Dome Tweeters, & went with the Peerless SDS-135F25CP02-04 5-1/4 Woofer for sub duties. At first I was disappointed with the bass output but it was because I went with a sealed chamber for the sub. Redesigned the cabinet to be vented and BOOM there was the bass I was looking for. Don't get it twisted it is not the bass output of my PA system with six 18" subs but for the small footprint it is really good. The controls are ok and give you some adjustments but what do you want at this size? I will buy this board again as I plan on building one a little bigger for more bass.Dusty

I’ve just hooked up 2 65watt indoor/outdoor Dayton to it without a sub, so I’m not really testing all the features. I also have it hooked up to a 12v, 3amp power supply, so I’m not pushing it too hard. It sounds great through the chosen speakers, and I have no complaints. The only thing I might mention is that I’ve not seen the fan come on, but with the power supply I’ve chosen, maybe it never will, by design.Steven
I have purchased other Class-D amplifiers that can get quite warm but this one doesn't. Even after running at high volumes it just gets warm to the touch. I don't have it in a case so that may contribute to keeping it cool. I like the sound of the T-amps and this one didn't disappoint it has great bass and treble. I use a home made 24 volt 15.4 amp power supply and it seems to give it more than enough power for my listening levels.DARIN

I had never done any DSP work prior to purchasing this little amp. I had a spare Jordan JX92S and a HiVi planar RT1C which I used to make a mono speaker for listening to my podcasts and music in a workshop. The DSP system proved easy to learn and I was able to connect to Sigma Studio easily. With little effort I was able to use REW to create a frequency response and then use Sigma Studio to auto-equalize. The final response is flat (+/_ 2dB from 50 to 20,000). I then added a mono-mixer and loudness controls. The result is simple astounding and sounds as good as my Focal home theater speakers. I see complaints about noise but once disconnected from my noisy computer the amp is dead quite.
Maybe I've had bad luck with these boards, but I bought this and a KAB board, and both have failed within the first month of operation. The DSP features/ Sigma Studio is incredible, and the amplifier module sounds fantastic. The DSPB board lost an input channel in the AD conversion, but the amplifier works well. The KAB board died almost immediately on me. Dayton Audio has done a great job with the quickstart manual but lacks for more complex configurations. It's also unfortunate that you cannot add external volume control without desoldering a potentiometer.
This amp has power, efficiency, and best of all, programmability. I am in the process of building a small retro looking speaker and the possibilities are endless with this board. I am using sigmastudio on the pc to program the dsp on the board to have filters for bass enhancement or loudness control and for clarity/spatial sound to give audiophile quality sound in a small package. These boards are part of a Dayton audio line of kits so modular plugs and add-ons are available from optional battery/charger board to adding additional amps for 2.1 or adding Bluetooth.Eric

I bought this amp for an outdoor ipad music setup to play music at a wedding. I did not think an amp at this cost would work very well but I gave it a shot. It totally surprised me with power and quality. I used a Sony laptop power adapter with 19v and two HiVi F5 5" Bass/Midrange part #297-435 and a passive sub and they sound great. I also added theBT-1A Bluetooth Receiver Module Part # 320-353 to use them wirelessly with the ipad. O I also was able to use this setup as a pa system for the wedding. I bought this because the amplifier in my Altec lansing stopped working. I analyzed a lot before purchase as to which watt will suit my need. The amplifier is very good quality built. I use multiple speakers to play a single source. A volume control for my requirement was must. I assembled all the stuff and used old IBM laptop power supply 16v 3.5A. I combined this amp board with a 19volt 120watt laptop power supply and it sounds great. Even driving my 8ohm 3-way speakers it had plenty of power to get loud in a meduim sized living room. It sounds so much better than my 100watt/ch Sony HT receiver. I had forgotten how good my speakers were since I've had them hooked up to the dull and anemic sounding Sony for so long. It did take a good 6 hours of blasting for it to break in. The highs were a bit crunchy and bass lacking initially but over time I could hear the timbre changing and sound stage expanding. Once it settled it was great, the sound stage was big yet defined and bass was punchy with crisp clear highs. I originally had the power supply external but moving it into the case and shortening that wire to a few inches helped tremendously with the bass as well.Steveooooo
