There are hundreds of reviews on this guitar, of course some good and some bad. The good reviews (4-5 stars) far out number the rest. Although I’ve read some really, really bad ones. I suppose every guitar maker churns out a turd on occasion when mass producing affordable beginner (read inexpensive) guitars.
I can only tell you about my particular guitar.
It is fantastic, it’s beautiful, sounds amazing (plugged in and acoustic), plays amazingly well, stays in tune, the tuners are smooth and work as you would expect on a much more expensive guitar. The neck is perfect, the action is great (Martin MA540 Authentic Acoustic Light strings 0.054-0.012). I haven’t a single complaint I can’t say whether the quality has gone up or down in the last few years. Mine is an earlier production model about 10 years old. They’re relatively common , You can find a nice used one locally in most cities for under $150. That way you can play and give it a thorough inspection before you buy it. I usually don't leave negative reviews. This guitar is beautiful, it sounds amazing. However, I just can't believe that guitar center would let this be shipped. The neck seems fine but every fret divider is razor sharp. It's so uncomfortable that I have quit playing it. Living in a small town it's very expensive to return stuff, so I guess it will just sit for now. To guitar centers credit, I have shopped there for many years and never been disappointed. But gee guys, why wouldn't you be checking this stuff? If I picked it off your wall I would never buy it unless you fixed it for me. Sorry but this sucksJohn
Tried out two of these at the local store looking for a first guitar for my son. Both sounded pretty good for the price point, but both had problems with the neck and really terrible frets. Terrible like not safe for children or unsuspecting adults – they both had sharp edges sticking out the whole length of the neck. Between that, some minor string buzz, a crazy high 9th fret on one, and iffy intonation on the other, it just didn't seem worth getting either of them. What's the point of getting a low priced guitar if you have to spend $100+ getting it worked over to make it playable? I suspect that the neck binding makes it difficult for the factory to really get the frets properly dressed and still pass cosmetic inspection. It may be I just had the bad luck to find the two worst examples of this model in the same store, but I suggest you move up notch in price range and you will be happier with what you get.triple.ratrider

I bought this because I'm a finger picker, and previously only had an Ovation. This has a little wider neck which helps the fingering with the way I play, and is quite a bit louder than the Ovation, which is nice when you can't amplify the sound. As far as the way it plays, to me it's a toss-up between the Ovation and the Gitane. The tuners are better on the Ovation. I do like it, and don't regret buying it.Press One
Guitar was packed with great care and arrived with all packaging in pristine condition. Guitar shipped somewhat later than expected. Solid spruce top with laminated rosewood sides and back. Wood grain is very attractive (whether the solid or laminated wood) and it is nicely finished. No evidence of sloppy work (sharp frets, excess glue, bad joints etc.). Two 1/8 inch indents on the back the size of a small "snakebite" that came that way from the factory which are probably tool marks. Ebony fingerboard with the wider nut that I prefer. Traditional Selmer-Maccaferri look. I have large hands and find the neck contour quite comfortable. Guitar is really "playable" and I feel it yields real Gypsy Jazz tone. It is a distinctive sound to be sure. Sounds unlike any of my other acoustic guitars. While originally designed to be a rhythm guitar, it also sounds pretty nice for leads. This guitar is surprisingly loud. I haven't attempted to play it though a mic yet and haven't felt the need to. I get some buzzing and the intonation is slightly off when the open strings are compared to their natural harmonics (slightly sharp). Ships with D'Addario 10's which I find too light for my right hand (which is a bit heavy). Had my teacher (who is conservatory trained) try it out. He enjoyed playing it but experienced some buzzing as well (which confirms it isn't just me). Needs a light set up (probably a neck and bridge adjustment). Will try Argentine 11's in the hope the extra tension will reduce buzzing, improve tone, and suit my touch a bit better. Might make it louder too. Represents a very nice value for the money. Good tone and manufacture with a traditional look and reasonable price tag. An all solid wood guitar would be at least twice the price, and I don't know how much of a difference in tone it would make without getting into a really expensive guitar. The Gitane D-500 is called a Jazz/Gypsy Guitar. It sounds absolutely Beautiful, that is the only word which suits it. You can listen to it being played on the Sellers website. I bought it from Kentucky USA, although Import Tax is a Pain in the B*m!!. I paid 644.00p for it but it is an investment which I can pass on to one of my grandchildren should they take up the guitar. I have another 5 different guitars but only 2 Acoustics. Some of my guitar buddies have tried it & they have All Liked it, the tone & resonance from it carries on & on. After trying to use a no-drilling-required pickup on my dreadnought and getting obnoxious buzzing noises, I saw one of these on the wall at my local Guitar Center. I liked the feel, and was really surprised at the sound when I tried it through a PA. I saw one in their Used section online and got it for a giveaway price. Like another reviewer said, this thing plays like an electric; a soft-V neck with great action. Big secret: Whether you pay $250 or $3,000, acoustic-electric guitars all sound about the same through a PA. So why bankrupt yourself? I'm going to open mics and playing next to people with very high-dollar guitars and sound just as good! Yamaha is also far and away my favorite brand of acoustic; I have five. Now, this thing DOES have a few finish flaws you don't see on my Yamaha FG730s guitars, like one speck under the finish and a drip on the upper bout. However this is their absolute entry-level electric acoustic so I guess they train new guys on this line, and for how well it plays and sounds, and the price I paid, I have no complaints. Bad – This guitar came without the usual Yamaha Factory Box and Accessories (truss rod, inspection tag, instructions). It looked like it was 'reboxed' by Guitar Center to fulfill Musician's Friend's order. And it shipped from a Guitar Center store rather than a warehouse. This happens way too often with Musician's friend, and they never seem to label the guitar as 'open box' or 'used.' Although the guitar was re-packed with lots of bubble wrap, the guitar was obviously damaged at the store. There were cracks on the top and side of the guitar. That probably explains why Guitar Center repackaged the guitar-the original shipping box from Yamaha would have been an obvious clue to the damaged guitar. Good-All Yamaha guitars go through a quality control process. And when I purchase them from other retailers, they all come with the proper accessories and inspection tags and are factory-packaged in the sealed Yamaha boxes. So, just make sure you are getting a new product, not a showroom or return-recycle when you order a Yamaha product from Musician's friend. Ugly-This guitar has a laminate top and the tonal balance of the guitar isn't top notch. Plugged in for performance or recording *and* when just played unplugged you can hear the difference between a Yamaha laminate vs solid top acoustic. I would recommend going for the solid top. I'm not sure if the Musician's friend website clearly specifies this is a laminate top guitar. Okay, if you get a new one with the inspection tags and truss rod tool, it's good for learning guitar or campfire use, where you might get caught in a rainstorm or you might be gifting a guitar and aren't sure how it will be taken care of. Moving up to the Yamaha solid top guitars, you are going to be happier in the long run, if you are a serious guitarist. I recommend trying this guitar out in a retail store, to make sure you get one fresh from the factory with the inspection tags and barcode on the factory box to prove it.Seasoned Musician

I have been playing for 36 years and own many nice high end guitars. I live in Switzerland and travel back to California usually twice a year to see friends and family. It's getting more strict traveling with a guitar and the airlines are starting to make you check in guitars. No longer allowed to carry on my instrument and not trusting airlines with my irreplaceable babies I decided to buy a cheap guitar for when I'm in America and bought one at guitar center. I already have a couple of amplifiers and microphones here so I can tell u this thing sounds like a much more expensive guitar either plugged in or acoustically. Maybe I got lucky but the model I bought has great action and not a single fret buzzes. This is a really nice sounding guitar and easy to play. The neck is on the fat side but the action is really low so it's great for my small hands. It's also beautiful. My only problem is I'm liking it so much that I'm tempted to take it back to Switzerland as my camping guitar now. Best guitar I played for the price tag by far. We will see how it holds up over time but I easily recommend it to others.Ha ha
I am a beginner so I purchased a guitar that looks awesome, sounded good to my untrained ear and was inexpensive. But I have some issues with it. First, every peg as broken and had to be punched out and replaced which was multiple trips back to the store which isn't close for me. It is never in tune. I tune it and play a few chords and then retune it. The string adjusters (not sure if that their technical term) are not snug and move around a bit, I notice this real bad when replacing strings. I get a lot of buzzing, my instructor does when he plays it. All that and my biggest problem is the graphic on mine is nothing close to the graphic see in pictures. My graphic is a grainy, obvious graphic and doesn't have any of the cool swirls as seen in the pictures. I like the feel and the glossy texture. Now that I have taken a few lessons I really would like to return this guitar.Big B
I bought this guitar as a novice, and not having a well developed ear, I thought it was pretty good. As my ear developed over the years, I've come to the conclusion that this guitar is mediocre. The way the bass is projected is very weak, and the highs are way too dominant. Along with that, it just doesn't have the depth many high quality guitars, and even some beginner guitars, such as the Yamaha F335 have. I'd recommend buying this guitar for three criteria: for beginners, for looks, and for the acoustic-electric feature. The intonation does get a little off too, especially when getting to the higher frets. The neck however earned this guitar a star though, because it fits me well, and that's my preference. I've had other people say opposite about the neck of this guitar, so the neck is really up to you to decide if you like it or not. All in all, I've had many hours of fun with this guitar, but don't expect to have a life changing guitar in your hands.The Archive Master

Having relatively recently started learning guitar on an electric stratocaster-style guitar this was a great transition to the acoustic segment. The thinner body makes it much more comfortable to play than say a dreadnought and the neck is comfortable to transition too, yet the guitar doesn't seem to sacrifice as much sound as you'd expect from a thinner guitar. The finish of the guitar is that of a more expensive guitar for example the rosewood finger board. On arrival I actually thought the guitar looked better than the pictures on the website suggest but do note that because of the finish it is prone to showing finger marks which would need cleaning time to time. After suffering a permanent back injury I could no longer play my elictric guitar as it was too heavy or my acoustic electric guitar because it felt like it was twice it's normal size because I could no longer find a comfortable position for myself to play it. It was perfecty in tune and for a guitar of this size it's got such a beautiful tone playing ACOUSTIC. So I plugged it in and it's as good as it sounded on YouTube. As an 67 yesr old man who started playing guitar when I was 16 years old, this is a beauty. The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the action. It's just a little too high. Other than that, I love it. It's a very nice looking acoustic for the money. It stays in tune extremely well and I was shocked at how full the sound was even with such a thin body. Sounds even better plugged in. The thinner body is super comfortable to handle and hold. It makes the transition from electric to acoustic very easy. The built in tuner is one of my favorite features. It works great and seems to be as accurate as any other tuner I've ever used. Overall, I would recommend this acoustic to anyone on a budget looking for a great sounding and feeling acoustic who doesn't mind the action a little on the higher side. (Side Note – I might be too critical on the action since I'm used to my electrics set up for such low action.)

. Now let me set the scene… I am a guitar lover (I can even play a little too) and a quality professional so My expectations are somewhat higher than most looking at this product. An absolutely beautiful instrument, this is my second SA360 and although they are no longer. Made in Japan, be assured they have not lost any of the build quality or attention to detail. The guitar was really well set up, is great to play, feels good in the hand and sounds the bee’s knee’s. If you are looking to start out in guitar playing get yourself an Ibanez Gio to start as a first upgrade from that, then the SA series is where you want to be at.Timbo
Overall: For 100 bucks less than a Japanese made RG550 I'll say the quality of this Indonesian assembled guitar is sub-par albeit correctable. All hardware was loose. Blase switch wast rubbing against finish. Tone and volume pots were pushed down into contact with body. Gold playing on bridge pick-up shows nickel plating already. Action was set so low that it was unplayable. Some frets are razor sharp at the edge of the fretboard. Neck and fretboard are dry as a bone, and need to be sanded and sealed. The grain was raised when I unboxed. Which basically tells me that there was very little if any polyurethane applied to the neck or fretboard. As with all Indonesian guitars ai take this as an opportunity to fix these little things on my own, but you are better off getting an RG550 Genesis. The quality is far superior. Also the paint is awful, and the plating on all gold plated surfaces are sure to deteriorate quickly. One note: Sounds has nothing to do with these inadequacies or defects. Ibanez should just seize operations in Indonesia, as should all other guitar manufactures. Indonesian guitars are ok enough to correct, but even at the 800 dollar mark you should get a 100% gigable axe. This is not at that level.
I've owned this guitar for a year. I own more than a few Ibanez, with about half of them being Prestige and the others being 80's/90's Fujigen Ibby's, 2010's Iron Labels and Premium. I love this RGA and it's remarkably well spec'ed for most anything a diverse player will want. What it isn't: it isn't a prestige and it doesn't feel like it. That's not a bad thing; the roasted maple neck is amazing, feels comfortable, but the fingerboard does feel a little different (given the wood type). The only real negative I find is that the finish (the actual finish) feels like it's very delicate. I can see this finish cracking easily with an everyday bump. I hang my guitars and pull them just to record, so not a n issue for me, but it definitely feels very delicate. The only other reasonable complaint is that for the pricepoint, it should include at least a gig bag. This is basically a 1,000 dollar guitar.

I'd give it a 6 outta 10 I knew what I was getting when I ordered this: a cheaply made gypsy guitar. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it – had a big, loud, style appropriate sound. Plays pretty good, it's in tune.If you're lloking to dable in this style, it's a good place to start. It was recommended to me by a young guy at Djangofest NW. As he said, "you won't die with this guitar". It took a while to get it as it was back ordered.
Superb value I was very pleasantly surprised at the build quality and tone of this guitar, as a cheap instrument. Extremely light weight, lots of sustain and a real sweet tone, somewhere between a classical and an archtop–plenty loud. Very decent satin finish, not too heavy. The guitar was very playable, plays in tune up the neck. Could maybe use a little buffing of the fret ends, but I expected worse, given the low price– was definitely very playable right out of the box, with a new set of strings (the strings that came with the guitar seem to be appropriate strings for this type of guitar however; I mention this because the Saga Gitane guitars years ago used to come with the wrong type of string). I'm very happy with this purchase.

I have been playing for 36 years and own many nice high end guitars. I live in Switzerland and travel back to California usually twice a year to see friends and family. It's getting more strict traveling with a guitar and the airlines are starting to make you check in guitars. No longer allowed to carry on my instrument and not trusting airlines with my irreplaceable babies I decided to buy a cheap guitar for when I'm in America and bought one at guitar center. I already have a couple of amplifiers and microphones here so I can tell u this thing sounds like a much more expensive guitar either plugged in or acoustically. Maybe I got lucky but the model I bought has great action and not a single fret buzzes. This is a really nice sounding guitar and easy to play. The neck is on the fat side but the action is really low so it's great for my small hands. It's also beautiful. My only problem is I'm liking it so much that I'm tempted to take it back to Switzerland as my camping guitar now. Best guitar I played for the price tag by far. We will see how it holds up over time but I easily recommend it to others.Ha ha
I am a beginner so I purchased a guitar that looks awesome, sounded good to my untrained ear and was inexpensive. But I have some issues with it. First, every peg as broken and had to be punched out and replaced which was multiple trips back to the store which isn't close for me. It is never in tune. I tune it and play a few chords and then retune it. The string adjusters (not sure if that their technical term) are not snug and move around a bit, I notice this real bad when replacing strings. I get a lot of buzzing, my instructor does when he plays it. All that and my biggest problem is the graphic on mine is nothing close to the graphic see in pictures. My graphic is a grainy, obvious graphic and doesn't have any of the cool swirls as seen in the pictures. I like the feel and the glossy texture. Now that I have taken a few lessons I really would like to return this guitar.Big B
I bought this guitar as a novice, and not having a well developed ear, I thought it was pretty good. As my ear developed over the years, I've come to the conclusion that this guitar is mediocre. The way the bass is projected is very weak, and the highs are way too dominant. Along with that, it just doesn't have the depth many high quality guitars, and even some beginner guitars, such as the Yamaha F335 have. I'd recommend buying this guitar for three criteria: for beginners, for looks, and for the acoustic-electric feature. The intonation does get a little off too, especially when getting to the higher frets. The neck however earned this guitar a star though, because it fits me well, and that's my preference. I've had other people say opposite about the neck of this guitar, so the neck is really up to you to decide if you like it or not. For what it is – a very cheap, small, travel guitar, this is great. You'll need a strap as it doesn't sit high enough on your leg to be comfortable to play. Also – the action was high, but a bit of adjusting with a belt sander on the saddle and that came down well. The scale length is short, but plays OK – takes a bit of getting used to from my full-sized acoustics. Putting a capo on it and making chords further up the neck is tight, but OK. Sound is very good for a travel guitar of this size. This would be a great kids guitar or even for an adult beginner. I did put 11s on it – sounds a bit weaker, but is fine, and that's what I use on my other acoustics. I had a washburn rover before – this is better, though not as small, but worth the extra size, I think. I have a GS Mini, which is much better, but a good bit larger, and much more expensive. Tuner works good, haven't tried plugging it in yet. Bought this for the boat – seems pretty sturdy.Alexander
I bought this guitar because I have chronic pain and am a small lady and found that even smaller acoustic guitars are too big and bulky and unplayable. I like to play high up on the neck so wanted a cutaway and occasionally perform so having an electro-acoustic version means it ticks all the boxes. When play acoustically it does sound really tinny, there's not getting away from that. It also tends to be unbalanced toward the neck end, so I need a strap to keep it in place. But it is much more playable for practice and I am almost managing to play bar chords again. Not chance on a normal size guitar. It has a full fret board just smaller but not too small.Michelle S.
I ordered this for my pastors wife who wanted to learn a new instrument. She is tiny ( less that 5 ' tall) and a full size guitar would not fit her body type. I was shocked when the guitar came in. The photos on line do not do the finish justice. I was even more shocked when I played it. Most student guitars in this price point have horrible action. The set up on this from the factory was great. It was very easy to play and the sound was extremely good for a thin body acoustic . Then we plugged it in. I could not believe the sound quality of the electronics in this guitar. On Sunday, I pulled out after church and let the music team take turns with it. Everyone that played it raved about every aspect of this little guitar. The instrument also came with a quality gig bag. The material was thick, padding was good, the zippers and hardware appeared to by sturdy. Even more importantly, she loved the guitar. This is advertised as a florintine in write-up and pictures. The one the shipped me was not a floritine but a rounded cut away. Not sure if this was a production change or what. In spite of quality issues, the sound is beautiful. It has a smaller body than I expected but it still projects nicely. I like the neck feel and the small body make it comfortable to play. If the quality was as good as my last Washburn I would give it a 10. I really like the guitar, but quality is way less than expected based on other Washburn product I have seen. Nice having the tuner built in. I like sliders for controls better than small knobs. Disappointed. Bought for my son. I would return it but he played it and says he wants to keep it. The pictures and writ-up say it is a Florintine cut away. It is not. Nice flame maple top. Resonable fret work. Varnish has some runs and imperfections. Sand marks in neck under the varnish, does not effect play or feel. Also some glue left at some joints and binding less than perfect. Not as well built as my 11 year old Washburn D10CEB was. Hard to beat the price but quality is not what I expected from Washburn.srk
Overall this guitar is fantastic! Perfect beginner sized guitar that I will enjoy for years to come! First and formost I would like to state that this guitar is exactly like shown in the picture above. As you can see in the above picture the body comes to a curved edge by the cutaway not a sharp one making it a venetian body style not a florenine like stated in the discription! Other then that, the onboard tuner is really cool with its LCD screen and tuning nobs (not sliders)! The light D'Addario strings sit close to the fret board making this a very easy to play guitar! All wood work is incredible and looks beautiful!! Only thing I see that could possibly be wrong is the white binding on the neck has some hairline cracks right under the fret bars but every guitar I have played has these! Outside of that, the quality of this guitar is awesome! There are no runs, left over glue, scratches or anything! The flame top looks amazing and is absolutely flawless! Very deep shine and the internals look pristine! Very, very good quality as you should expect from a Washburn guitar! Tough to beat the value of this guitar with the quality and beauty of this instrument!

The PRS A60E Angelus is a nicely balanced sounding guitar. It has good bass (but not over powering) and mids, and the presence of the highs is not overly bright. I'll also add that I think it has a pleasing tone, although that is personal and subjective. It has good volume, projection, and sustain. The neck, action, and playability are all among the best I've experienced on my sample. The laminate Ziricote woodgrain has beautiful texture and reminds me of an old Alvarez I had with Jacaranda back and sides, although the Ziricote stain is overall darker hues. Additional cosmetic touches are abalone PRS birds fret markers, rosette, and purfling along the curly maple top binding. The fingerboard is also nicely bound with curly maple. Taking into account 1) the sound quality of the A60E, 2) playability, that it includes 3) electronics (pickup and preamp) and 4) a hardshell case, along with 5) its attractive looks this is a nice guitar for the money. I'm giving it 5 stars considering all that one gets for its price (and not trying to compare it to a Martin or Taylor that costs 3 or 4 times as much, for example).ROBERT

I've been a professional musician since I was 20 years old. Traveled all around Europe, doing 8 shows a week in the late 60's. Played guitar and sang, and then when I moved to Cincinnati, I played, my band performed as the front band for several country groups, the Carpenters, and Seals & Crofts. Now at 73, a lot of water has flowed beneath my bridges, but I'm wanting to play for myself and friends, jam a bit with other musicians. And while I've had several really nice guitars (Hagstrom Viking, Takamini 12-string, and a couple of nice basses. Over the years, my main instrument was drums, but I don't have room now for a set of those. I just wanted to play guitar without paying too much for it. So, my search began. I already had a Luna Tatoo Ukelele and loved it – always in tune, great tone, great workmanship, and sounded as good accoustically as electrically. Looking at Luna's guitars, I was impressed with the workmanship. There are some beautifully decorated A/E ones, but were too high-priced for me. Then I saw the dreadnought Tattoo model and thought it would be nice to have a matching guitar/uke pair. And the price was surprisingly very affordable. The price made me hesitate – you never know how well it play or hold up. However, when it came, I was delighted!!! It was beautiful, great workmanship (even though it's made in China), awesome tone that's even from treble to bass. The onboard tuner is highly accurate. The size is perfect for me as a little old grandma. The neck was straight as an arrow and the intonation was spot on. I couldn't be happier! Luna Guitars says this is an entry-level guitar. I suppose they're right. But the frets are filed properly, it holds its tune, the intonation is fine. It doesn't have Fishman electronics, but the onboard tuner works. I've owned many "entry-level" instruments that were nowhere as good. Guitar was packed with great care and arrived with all packaging in pristine condition. Guitar shipped somewhat later than expected. Solid spruce top with laminated rosewood sides and back. Wood grain is very attractive (whether the solid or laminated wood) and it is nicely finished. No evidence of sloppy work (sharp frets, excess glue, bad joints etc.). Two 1/8 inch indents on the back the size of a small "snakebite" that came that way from the factory which are probably tool marks. Ebony fingerboard with the wider nut that I prefer. Traditional Selmer-Maccaferri look. I have large hands and find the neck contour quite comfortable. Guitar is really "playable" and I feel it yields real Gypsy Jazz tone. It is a distinctive sound to be sure. Sounds unlike any of my other acoustic guitars. While originally designed to be a rhythm guitar, it also sounds pretty nice for leads. This guitar is surprisingly loud. I haven't attempted to play it though a mic yet and haven't felt the need to. I get some buzzing and the intonation is slightly off when the open strings are compared to their natural harmonics (slightly sharp). Ships with D'Addario 10's which I find too light for my right hand (which is a bit heavy). Had my teacher (who is conservatory trained) try it out. He enjoyed playing it but experienced some buzzing as well (which confirms it isn't just me). Needs a light set up (probably a neck and bridge adjustment). Will try Argentine 11's in the hope the extra tension will reduce buzzing, improve tone, and suit my touch a bit better. Might make it louder too. Represents a very nice value for the money. Good tone and manufacture with a traditional look and reasonable price tag. An all solid wood guitar would be at least twice the price, and I don't know how much of a difference in tone it would make without getting into a really expensive guitar. The Gitane D-500 is called a Jazz/Gypsy Guitar. It sounds absolutely Beautiful, that is the only word which suits it. You can listen to it being played on the Sellers website. I bought it from Kentucky USA, although Import Tax is a Pain in the B*m!!. I paid 644.00p for it but it is an investment which I can pass on to one of my grandchildren should they take up the guitar. I have another 5 different guitars but only 2 Acoustics. Some of my guitar buddies have tried it & they have All Liked it, the tone & resonance from it carries on & on. Have Nothing Bad to say about it, it is a fantastic instrument.mattr1951
