Reviews:
I give this bag only 3 stars because unless Gator upgraded the bag or is making it in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase. I bought one of these for a Sterling by Music Man bass as I was under the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). As the photos indicate, this bag will work for a Fender P Bass, but the Fender FB620 is a better bag for that and other Fender bass guitars while presently costing 10 less than the Gator while offering better protection and features. The Gator GB-4G seems to be more of a universal fit bag accommodating a wider range of sizes. The thing it seemed to have going for it the most was its zipper which seemed heavy duty. I say "seemed" because I returned the bass and so the bag as well.Vice
I bought a used guitar for back porch jamming. Needed a gig bag that didn't cost more than the guitar ,but would keep it safe and clean. Stopped at Sam ash because I was certain they had a variety of gig bags. Not my first visit or purchase. The Gator gig bag I chose is the economy for dreadnought guitars by Gator. Great price for my budget and well made. This bag is perfect for my needs. Easy carry and my guitar is covered.Just enough padding in all the right places for my guitar. Also accessory zipper compartment.Lindy
I'm giving this bag only 3 stars on account of the price increase; for it used to cost about 4-5 less than the Fender FE620 but now costs about 10 more than? Unless it has improved features or is being made in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase as the FE620 gig bag provides better protection and features (for Strat size guitars anyway). I purchased one in May 2021 and only because as I was of the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). I should have sized things up beforehand since the Sterling by Music Man Cutlass I bought the bag for is essentially a slightly shorter, slightly sleeker version of a Strat (for which the FE620 was made). The best thing the Gator bag seemed to have going for it was the zipper which seemed rather heavy duty while mesh pockets on the front of a gig bag aren't particularly practical while being subject to tearing/ripping. As you can see by the photos, there's too much room in the bag for a Strat size guitar (though one might be able to insert the headstock into the bag's internal top pocket to prevent the guitar from sliding around too much in the bag). The Gator GB-4G ELEC Series Gig Bag is more of a universal fit bag better suited for guitars longer and/or wider than a Strat.Vice

Well made for the money. The picture doesn't really show the quality, but it's there. My Gibson SG standard fits a little loose, but not enough to move around with the lid closed. Latches seem to be solid and not to cheaply made like other competitors product. It gets five stars. Musiciansfriend get five stars also because they made the entire sales process very simple and direct. Thanks for the great job!!!!Tommyb
Sound: N/A Features: The separate interior compartment was one of the reasons for the purchase but nothing fit. Gibson Les Paul Standard doesn't fit. The neck isn't supported thus causing the body to rock back and forth. Kramer Assault 220+ does not fit. Same problem with the neck as the LP. PRS SE Fredrik Akesson doesn't fit because the body is too thick. Ease of Use: N/A Quality: The outer plastic case material felt thin and flimsy. It'll probably protect your guitar during daily carry but I don't think it'll survive an impact. The latches and hinges are terrible. The latch metal and plating is rough and sharp on the edges. All the latch pivot pins are bowed, I suspect from tension keeping the cover closed tight. The hinges are mounted slightly crooked with the middle hinge mounted on a curve so the edges stick out. All around poor selection of hardware and poor workmanship. The blown foam interior is smaller that the case leaving a 1/4 inch space all the way around. The plush interior hides this gap but it's significant. One of the desiccant packets was open inside (?!) and a few of the little pellets are now rolling around underneath … which means there's airspace underneath! I though it was solid foam? Guess not. Value: I'm not sure what fits in this case … properly … but for $109, its quality and workmanship is marginal and a far cry from the PRS hard case I tried for $177. I would put this in the $60 range but maybe I'm expecting too much. Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: It looked good until I actually got it in my hands. Overall: Overall, not worth it. Very poor construction. Not sure what fits. Returning it.Paul
The case is road worthy, and does its job of protecting my guitar! As a touring musician (to any musician), that is what matters most. It is a simple good looking case and I am very pleased that I bought it!I've had it for a couple of months, and have traveled and performed through 3 states with it. I live in Florida and deal with weather that is very humid and big up and down temperature changes during the winter and spring months and the case still looks new and continues to keep my guitar safe!Gene M

Specifications:

Reviews:
If you have a 335-style semi-hollow body electric and want a strongly built, well protected, classy looking case to embrace your guitar when you're not playing, you can't go wrong with the Gator GW-335 Brown. In high style and all by itself, it faithfully recreates the mid-1950s rock-and-roll guitar-love scene, evoking memories of James Burton, Chuck Berry, and Slim Harpo. The outside is a good looking, textured-brown Tolex (vinyl covering) over a wooden structural frame, with white stitching around the top edge. The shackles and feet are gold-colored hardware, thick and very solid, which looks really sharp with the brown Tolex. The inside is lined with deep-pink plush fur, soft and sensual, which covers thick, flexible, padding to snuggle your beloved axe like nothing else and hold it firmly in place. To top it off, there is a double-thick satin shroud of the same passion-pink color that lays directly on top of the guitar when you shut the lid. Quite a cozy blanket for Herself. I love this case, and if you like regal splendor for your guitar, you will too. By the way, I keep my Ibanez AS7312 Transparent Cherry 12-string in a Gator GW-335 Brown and she fits like a glove. Look no further!downwindjaxon
I bought this for my 11 year-old sons 2017 Gibson SG Special. The guitar fits, but it is a little loose on the body. Nothing that is concerning though. The interior is Pink, again, that does not concern me. It should protect the instrument much better that the gig bag it came with. the case has that vintage look and feel. Great case for the money.scottatgc
I've got a few guitars now and usually had to order a decent hard shell case for each of them. My guitars are all kept in their cases when not in use, so I'm expecting something that's both functional and durable. I usually have to get my cases on-line because the selection at our local shops is pretty limited. With that in mine, there is always a certain amount of risk involved concerning purchasing something before I see it. And I can't say that I've always been happy with what arrived at the front door. My return experiences, however, have usually been pleasant enough, just the usual waste of time though. But when this one arrived I was literally floored. It was actually a lot more than I expected. The exterior screams vintage, a light brown, leather looking textured material. (apparently I can't spell vynyl, so..) And the interior is old school plush Gibson pink, complete with that velvet blanket attached and gold hardware. This is a dead ringer for the case that came with my LP Custon 30 years ago. The pink interior sort of clashes with my Heritage Cherry SG, but it's a good clash, colorful to say the least. The fit is perfect. There's no movement at all once the guitar is tucked in. Had I known the quality beforehand, I would have expected to pay twice the price, which incidentally is what the manufacturer is asking.Lostventure

Very nice overall. It feels sturdy and should protect my guitar well. The only issue I had right out of the box was the stitching that connects one of the clips to the backpack strap was starting to unravel. Luckily, I have someone in myhouse hold who can sew and was able to mend it, otherwise I would have sent it back for a replacement. I just hope the rest of the materials stay securely in place.Stan the Man

You can get the spec by pdf from Gator website for it's lower bout. My guitar's lower bout didn't fit because inside of this case. They use hard cardboard like material inside instead of soft spongy like cushion. That's why I couldn't push my guitar down only for 1/4" difference. It's a good case if fits with your guitar! I had to return.fiesta4300
This doesn't fit a 335 as advertised. The pick holder/neck support is too high, so the weight of the guitar is squarely on the neck only, making breakage or warping a very real possibility. There is also a bit too much wiggle room around the lower bout. Sad part is, despite the horrible design, Musicians friend won't provide a free return, thus I'm out sixty-five to return the case. They shouldn't sell products that don't fit the guitar made and not be accountable for its shortcomings.J a s o
I ordered the case for my Epiphone ES-335 because it's one of the few ABS molded cases for that model. The Gator Case model literally has 335 in its name. However what I recieved from shipping certainly had all the proper tags attached, it did not fit the guitar well at all. Theres two fingers worth of slop in the bottom edge where the strap attachment is, so when the case is closed I can shake the case and feel the guitar flopping inside. The case is so deep that the back body of the guitar doesnt touch the case because the neck is the only part being supported. Unacceptable. Returned to Guitar Center location in person and the sales rep there took one look and said it was improperly tagged from the factory, that the case is meant for a bigger deeper hollowbody and not the 335 series. Not worth ordering another because of the risk of getting another wrong case. Which bums me out because otherwise the case appeared to be awesome. Hopefully Gator figures this outConor

Reviews:
I bought the Gator GWE Hardshell case for a Squier Affinity Stratocaster project. The case holds the guitar firmly in place with no movement. I was a bit surprised at the good quality of the case at the price point. It wouldn't hold up to excessive abuse, but for storage purposes it works fine.Kenneth
Overall: I got this case because I read a review that a Fender Telecaster would fit in it. What that review lacked is that it fits SNUG. I have to press the guitar into the case for it to fit. After some time I'm sure the case will "mold" to my tele but I just thought I should let you all know that before you buy it. I'm a pretty easy going musician but I know some people might be put off by that. The case has a soft interior and it appears to be very cheap but usable. If the insides of this case ever fall out, I'll just super glue it at a later date. Nice for what you pay for.The little storage cubby inside of the case is small. It fits my capo, a set of strings, picks and one lava cable. Sometimes you have to rearrange the things inside for the case to allow you to close it but again, I'm easy going. One of the latches on the outside seems to fit more loose than the others. Thankfully it's not a big deal when all of the latches are…erm.. latchedOverall it's a decent purchase. Keeps my tele out of a soft case.
Bought this case along with a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster thinking it wouldn’t be as nice as the similar Fender case that is around $80 more but I did think it would at least be a solid, protective case. It is not. Exchanged emails with AMS to authorize an exchange for the SKB case and was made aware exchanges are not allowed on Easy payment options. Makes sense, I just wasn’t aware and I’m sure I’m not the first caught off guard. Opted to return for a refund and was told card on file would be charged around twelve bucks. To return a junky case that has carpet on the interior lifting up, and that also has “tolex” pulling apart on the outside. Lame. Just get the skb, or even better, order the deluxe molded fender case from someone who stocks it and hopefully stands behind the products they sell. Maybe just a byproduct of the Amazon era where decades old retailers are essentially operating like a punk distro…..Ty

Does the Job, Fits telecaster wellTucker
It's a well built case. Feels solid and the light is bright. Fits most of my guitars( Schecter Keith Merrow, B.C. Rich Assassin, PRS custom 24, Fender strat, and LTD 350). The only guitar it didn't fit was my B.C. Rich Mockingbird, but I didn't expect it to fit that. Latches are solid and interior is super nice. My only complaint was it had a slight chemical smell when it arrived. I let it air out in a room for a while and it went away. No big deal. Sweetwater is the best as always! Oh, and I did want to mention that there is a switch to turn the light off which is nice if you don't need it. Otherwise it comes on when you open and goes off when you close it.
12. Gator Gt-Electric Transit Series Electric Guitar Gig Bag Black
Product Details:
Designed to fit most electric guitars, gator's transit series electric gig bag has a weather-resistant blended fabric exterior, a rigid interior construction within its frame for case-like protection and 20 mm thick foam padding covered with plus micro-fleece lining to keep your guitar safe during travel. for added support, it has an adjustable, removable, three-point interior padding system for the headstock, neck and bottom/endpin. it even has thick rubber tread to keep it safe from small puddles and drink spills. as far as storage, it has large, front, zippered pocket with a flap, g-hook buckle and seatbelt loops for multiple connection points so you can fill it to capacity and still keep everything secure. the small pocket on the front flap has a soft lining to protect, and give fast access to, your phone, key or other small electronics. it also comes with several d-rings for clipping accessories. while you are on the move, you can choose a molded, padded, contoured handle for a secure, yet comfortable grip or the padded, removable, color-matched backpack straps.
Specifications:
Weight | 6.2 lb |
Reviews:
Pros: Super nice looking (I got the gray). Stiffer than other gig bags, has an adjustable neck support inside, and has more padding around headstock and base – all of this will offer really good protection. Rubberized base is great if you have to set the bag down on wet or muddy ground. I also like the pocket for the backpack straps, so you can tuck them away if you're not using them. Roomy main pocket for all of the gear. Nice sturdy handle. Cons: Zipper pulls seem less sturdy and neck pocket is only good for capo, picks, and other thin things. We'll see how long it lasts with heavy use, but so far I am liking the bag a lot.Kim
This case is advertised to fit numerous solid body electrics, it should do just fine. The wanna-be Tele copy I am building fits well, my Gibson SG is OK in there as well. I thought I'd just see if the SG fit, it has a Gator hard case it lives in. There's a number of pockets and storage places with zipper closures, and several carry on your body or handle options. The interior has a few removable, and / or moveable spacers held in place with velcro, to fit various body sizes and neck lengths. Even a convenient D ring at the top of the case to hang on a hook or something. The exterior fabric appears to be a tough material, the interior is fairly plush. The sides are not solid, but let's call them resilient, to say the least! Typical Gator Case build quality, I'm glad I bought it. On another note, kudos to the Sam Ash customer reps, who helped resolve a shipping mixup over the Christmas rush. Having a problem with a shipment is one thing, how it gets resolved is what's important, and even though it took a while what with Christmas rush and New Year in the middle of the weeks, eventually the troubles got fixed. They did what they said they were going to do, and that's good enough for me!Loren
PROS: I'm really happy with this case. I wanted something higher quality and nicer looking to go with my beautiful new Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 (which came without a case). I was torn between the black and the beige versions but the beige turned out to be really cool. A little different from the norm and very classy. Materials are great, build quality is great. Obviously, this gig bag is designed for flexibility with many different guitars, so it's not absolutely form-fitting, but it has extra padding that you can manipulate however you like for a really snug fit with your guitar. It also has lots of nice little pockets. CONS: My ONLY gripe is that the laptop pocket has the zipper at an angle, which looks cool but actually shaves off enough room so that my 15" Macbook Pro just barely misses fitting in. If only they had made the zipper straight across instead of at an angle, my mid-sized laptop would have fit in perfectly. There's still a flap that I can secure over it, but I'd feel more comfortable if I could get that zipper closed too. Oh well. 13" and below should easily fit. OVERALL: Highest quality gig bag I've come across. I know that there are one or two other brands that make high end gig bags like this, but the ones I've seen are bulkier and more geared towards being almost hardshell case stand-ins. This bag will not replace your hardshell case at all, but it is the undisputed king of "gig bags." More supportive and far more attractive than anything else I've come across.BF

This case is built like a tank. That's the reason you buy this thing. However, I had to return mine because it was not deep enough to accommodate a top mounted Floyd Rose bridge (non-recessed). For this case to truly be universal it needs to be about 3'4" deeper. Also, the interior cloth lacked appeal. It was nice but not what you'd expect for the price point. All in all, if you have a standard Strat type bridge, flush mounted trem, or fixed bridge this will obviously work for you…but if you have a top mounted old-school Floyd like on the early Charvels then you need to find something else.Frankenstein
I love it my Gibson SG fits well and don't move around…I travel alot and it hasn't let me down!!!jammin 101

It's difficult to give a really definitive review since a guitar case really proves its quality over time and I just got this one, but I'll say that it seems solid and is exactly what it's slyly advertised as–a much more affordable copy of Fender's strat case that is almost indistinguishable from the original. So far I'm definitely happy with it–my strat fits inside snugly and it feels like quality product.Michael T.
Great case holds my stratocaster perfectly thank youjamtown12

Reviews:
Bought this case to have a better hardcase than the one I had previously used for gigging. So far, it seems durable and very easy to use. I trust my new bass guitar in this. For reference, I have a Fender Precision bass and it fits great. I like to decorate my cases with stickers of bands I've played with and the material seems to support that well. This is one of a few gator products I've purchased and I've always been impressed. I recommend this case for the musician who wants something solid but doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg.Zach
If you look at my question in the Q&A, "Beau" says "This case wouldn't be compatible but the Epiphone SG Hardshell Case would work well." Sorry Beau, you're wrong – I bought two of these and they fit my guitars nice and snugly – they won't be moving around at all, as you can see in the attached pics. The lower part of the body is a nice tight fit – these guitars won't be sliding around. Hopefully I can pick one more of these cases up soon. They are well-made and will protect your guitar properly!Tom
