I jumped on the lightweight rig wagon a few years ago with MarkBass but it always left me wanting more. I could never get the tones I wanted with passive basses (Ric 4003 and Fender P) forcing me to use a pedal for growl and distortion, even with a Ric. Having owned Ampeg, GK RB, Peavey, and most recently MarkBass bass heads (not to mention countless combos), I have to say that GK really nailed it with the Legacy series. Lightweight, portable, lots of power and an overdrive circuit which is foot switchable. I have a Ric 4003, Warwick Active Corvette, Ibanez SR750 and a homemade P/MM, this head brings out the best in every bass I plug into it, including an acoustic/electric Dean. My band plays everything from Elvis to Metallica and this head is the shiznit! Even my guitar players complimented my tone and overall sound, if you can believe that LOL. Thank you GK!!!Joe
Do your homework if you are considering this. There are three models, this is the one with the least power. With 8 Ohm 180 watts, 4 Ohm 300 watts, 2 Ohm 450 watts. Yes I did write 2 Ohm, and this will also handle 2.7 Ohm. Clean is as clean as you need it to be. Flip the switch (or foot pedal) and you get adjustable dirt sounds. Direct into FOH with pre/post, speakon connectors, headphone out and aux in. About 4 lbs and about 13" x 12" x 3". The Legacy 800 gives up to 800 watts, and the 1200 model goes to around 1200 watts. When using this for practice, the tone (bass/treble) must be set from the source, not on the amp. When sending DI to the FOH, set both Trim and Master off (lowest setting) and you still get a strong signal to the house. I use this as a preamp during gigs, setting the controls to get 'my' sound and then just leaving them set. I bought this amp in 2019 and I also bought the 112 chain cabinet. I rarely bring the extra cabinet out. This little monster can handle a wide range of venues. The sound of this amp is amazing. I love the look on people's faces when I show up with this tiny thing, but after the first song they get it. Anyway, I put mine through it's paces and it consistently gets the job done. You won't be disappointed.

Wonderful little amp. No frills….just what's needed to put a smile on your face. Running it into a 410 and a 118 Ampeg cab, for the 4 ohm power advantage. Not bad into 8 ohms, but 4 really brings it to life. It rocks the house with a low D into that 18 cab. Perfect for a lightweight backup amp and plenty of power for small to medium gigs. The contour switch is a gem. A mute button would be nice, but this thing is tiny and I wouldn't sacrifice any of the other controls. Get one, you'll love it!gmajor99
Small, lightweight, portable, and enough volume for almost any situation. I bought this a few weeks ago to replace a 1×12 combo and cannot believe how great this sounds! I have it paired with a lightweight 2×10 cabinet, and this is plenty loud to keep up with my band, and I only turn the gain knob about 1/2 way. The MB200 is so easy to use, anybody can get a good bass tone using it. Has a great 4 band EQ and contour switch for more tone shaping options. The only negative I would say is there is no effects loop, but it is not an issue for me at all. This is the perfect head for someone playing gigs in small to medium sized clubs/venues, or for home practice/recording. I spent a long time researching bass heads and am extremely happy I chose the MB200!Brian

The MB212 has tremendous sound and quality with a very solid construction but light weight (41lb's) the quality and finish are what I expected from a US made amp. The GK MB 212 has the POWER and sound to support any musical venue I currently play. The MB212 has the clarity and growl for Latin Jazz, Salsa and Rock & Roll. Overall I simply can not find fault with this product. As a profession musician paying my bills with my bass, it's really hard to find fault in a fully functional, beautifully made, and super light-weight amp, which comfortably sits in my backpack. I use a 8 ohm Hartke XL series 2×10 and run a Source Audio BEF, Snarling Dog Bootzilla Wah and a Digitech Jamman (through effects loop) with phenom sound and tone. The "Deep" and "Presence" filters are exceptional additions to the GK's tone shaping super-powers. Additionally using the included pedal to swap between channels it is easy to dial in a overdriven tube tone in channel B and swap on the fly for solo moments or stand out moments. Two Channels, included quality footswitch (and cable), tones of tone sculpting ability, a clear and well written owners manual, intuitive design, and four pounds! Amazing. The features are better than advertised. I have never owned anything from GK before and this is an outstanding introduction to their product line, however, since the product comes prepared for rack mount system and at this price it seems like a rack mounting system should have been included. A local music shop told me NOT to rack mount the system as the tubes heat will become an issue…but then that begs the question of why does it come prepared for a rack system? Just based on size, portablility, and most importantly TONE this bass amp is simply unbelievable. I regret waiting this long to get a light weight amp. I can't believe I lugged around a 45lbs box for the last 5 years when I didn't need to! I feel like at the price this is a bit pricey and definitely made me think a while before dropping the coin, however, now that I own it I am kicking myself for waiting!
I would recommend the amp, but I still need to see how well it holds up over time. Nice features, but I can't give it a 10 because it doesn't have a clip light or a limiter/compression feature. I've only used it once so far, but it sounded great and it held up fine for a 4 hour gig. Bought it as a back up for my Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 600. Fair price for what you get.
I pair this with a new GK 212-II NEO cab rated at 600 watts at 8 ohm. This head at 8 ohm puts out 350 watts. I can always add a second cab to get the full 500 watts. I set channel A gain around 9 o'clock and the master around noon. Then set channel B gain around 3 o'clock and the master around 11 o'clock. That creates a super clean sound in channel A and a warm fudgy tubey sound in channel B. Headphone out for practice. Pre/post DI out. EFX in/out. Footswitch for channel changing. Limiter off/on. Deep bass off/on, bright treble off/on. You can set scoop mid-point at either 300 Hz or 800 Hz on the contour. Less than 5 lbs. If you own or plan to get one of the GK powered cabs, you can plug it directly into this head. If you pair one with the GK212-II NEO you cannot use the bi-amp feature built into the cab. So be sure to get the correct speakon connecting cable. If you purchased the NEO cab new you CAN use the speakon connecting cable that comes with that speaker. You can also use an old style 1/4 inch cable. The footswitch comes with a long cable – maybe 6-8 feet? I don't have a ruler so I'm guessing. You can practice with headphones (use the 1/4 inch plug) without having any speakers connected, which makes practice when traveling easy. This will fit into my gig bag but I will probably purchase a fitted bag made for it to protect it. Other than that this is a keeper and easy to learn and use.Florida basement dude

While at my local music store. I compared the 1001rbII to the littlemark III, Ampeg 7pro, 700rbII, Ampeg pf500, and the Eden WT550. The 700rb, Markbass and Ampeg 7pro had good power and the Markbass had fatter tone. the Ampeg PF500 didnt seem like 500 watts to me? It came down to the Eden and the 1001RB II. The Eden had better tone but power to me was equal and GK was cheaper and GK had better dependability history. I got the 1001rb II.Mike G
This puppy is the best deal on the market for anyone looking for a high powered head in a light weight package with features that make sense. Thoughtful features, great tone shaping ability, light weight, massive sound/volume, silent running, reliability it's all here and then some. You can drive multiple cabs with ease and have loads of headroom left over. The headroom on this thing is amazing really. It is, one loud head. You can get pretty much anything sound you desire out of it's fantastic eq section. From slap and tap, to dirty grind, to clean and full, it's all here. I'd say it's overall tone with everything set flat is fat, full, dry and clean. You will not have any problems cutting through the mix with this head. Open the box, tested with a Katana 2×12 cab, sound was awesome. Same goes to a Laney 2×12 but sounded much more better. Considering the size of the Amp1, the Nanotube is a real deal. Drives is authentic. Growls like the full tube amp head. Cleans nicely from high to low gain. Tried again with a Yamaha powered speaker and speaker out to a BluBox, cuts through with the band easily. Overall: I've been looking for portable, potent, Plexi and then some Marshall tone and kept trying little modelers. Most sounded fine, but I struggled to get them right. I have so many great Plexi sounds…and then some…in my Kemper, but wanted something to fit in a gig bag. I remembered having seen Jack Gardiner's video about this and LOVING the sounds he got. When I played this at NAMM 2020, Hall D was just too loud to really appreciate it. But I remembered liking it. So I ordered it. Wow! Let me tell you, I like it so much I just ordered the Remote1 switch for it to use it for more than just a travel option! This thing sounds phenomenal!More often than not, clean channels sound like afterthoughts. This amp has a beautiful clean channel and when combined with the boost gives you excellent, chimey, pushed clean and Vox-like tone. Henning Paulie had Thomas Blug on and they got really close to his Morgan AC30 style amp. Frighteningly close! Well, it really does it! And the dynamics of this amp are incredible. Even with the boost engaged, I can roll the volume down and clean up the vintage and classic channels nicely! I have a lot of amps. This hangs with the big boys easily. And it takes pedals as well as any big amp. I am so happy I can stop looking for a plexi for my gig bag. zZounds has a great return policy. It won't hurt to try it. I needed an inexpensive practice amp for home use, so I bought this amp – big mistake! I wasn't expecting the sound of a more expensive amp, but this amp is nothing more than a noise machine. The sound is filled with static and noise to the point it is unusable. The static and noise push the little sound you get to the background. Maybe, I received a bad amp, but I'll never know since MF felt the issue lay with my personal sound quality preference and not the amp. Apparently, for MF the sound quality is good enough for an inexpensive amp, and the customer should be aware. To a degree, MF is right – I should have known better, but I never thought there would be absolutely no sound quality. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AMP!Jack
Originally purchased a Rogue Rocketeer Electric Guitar Pack, which included this G10 Amplifier, for my Great Nephew for Christmas. However, the one which came with the Pack didn't sound right and quit completely after about 15 minutes. I notified Musician's Friend Customer Service about the problem and they immediately took care of it by sending a replacement. The replacement arrived and it worked fine, and sounded good for a 10 watt practice amplifier. Was very pleased with the sound and quality. It even has a little drive button which gives the amp a little bit of distortion if you like to play that sort of thing. I was getting a beater electric guitar for my new place and needed a small, inexpensive 10W amp. This was just about the cheapest thing on the market that met my criteria. Frankly, I was just blown away. It sounds like a legitimately good amp. Powerful too; I haven't once yet moved the volume knob higher than about the "2" setting when in overdrive mode. I have a GK MB 115 200 watt 1st. gen. and love it.I needed more power for outdoor gigs and was going to get the MB 212 500 watt combo,but if I wanted to add an extension cab it would only take a powered one.The Fusion allows me to add any of my bass cabs. With 800 watts, no issues with volume (I've never had it past 1/4 on the master volume),and it can go to the mains via the DI out. It has great features for that purpose as well. Dialing in my tone is easy as I just set everything @ 12:00 (except master volume) and EQ from my bass.It took a bit of toying with the various boosts and overdrive as the push knobs really add punch to each setting.The foot switchable overdrive is cool as you can add dynamics way easy. The 212's are perfect. Tight and punchy with the low B as well.The 3 tube pre amp adds warmth to the over all tone as well. At 41 lbs it is all I need. Great amp! GK nailed it!homebrewbrewer
