Fender Vintage Reissue 65 Deluxe Reverb Guitar Combo Amp Black For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

I've been playing guitar since a kid. My Dad used to own a guitar store where he was an amp technician. I'll always remember sneaking into his room when he wasn't home and playing his salmon pink Strat and Twin reverb amp. There was always a magic in them and they really inspired me. Fast forward 30 years and I've grown up just like him. Been playing professionally for a long time through some pretty nice gear but something in me always wanted to revisit that amp, it just had the perfect sounds I played lots of amps before choosing a Marshall 50w plexi as my amp of choice for gigging and it was good, no doubt a about that, played it for almost 15 years straight until one day buying that Twin I'd always so wished I also had. Found I played it far more than the plexi so actually ended up selling the Marshall and just sticking with the 65' reissue! It does everything the Marshall did and more I think. Playing them side by side before making the final decision to sell set my mind at ease because I couldnl get the same sounds from the Twin. Even did a little A/B recording with overdrive and no one could pick which one was which I play mainly classic rock and this amp is everything I'll ever need. Small wattage Amos always sound and feel small to me so was never interested in them, of it's too loud turn it down, the volume is far better than the plexi because that one sat on a hair trigger, really difficult to get a bedroom volume out of. The Twin is quote easy and pot smooth to use. Plexi goes from 0-almost full volume at half way to 1 on the dial. Love itJez

I received the amp yesterday and have only played it (both the vibrato and normal channel) for about half an hour in my living room, but I was so impressed that I wanted to go ahead and write a review, which I almost never do. I've been playing electric guitar almost 50 years and have owned many different amps, almost all Marshall or Fender, including a late 60s or early 70s 100 watt Marshall (no master volume), a mid 70s silver face Twin Reverb and Dual Showman, a 1987X 50 watt Marshall reissue, a '59 Bassman reissue (before the LTD version), a '65 Super Reverb reissue, a Twinolux, and a standard '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. The only other amp I have currently is a wine red '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue (DRRI) with a P12Q Jensen speaker. The '65 DRRI has been one of my favorites. I like the 6V6 sound and I think it's hard to get a bad sound out of that amp. I really like the clarity of the 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb compared to my '65 DRRI. It is noticeably brighter than my '65 DRRI, but part of that may be because the '64 has a C12Q speaker while my current '65 DRRI has a P12Q speaker. Since reverb and vibrato work on both channels of this '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb, the vibrato channel is like having the bright switch on (it reminds me of the way my super reverb sounded with the bright switch on) and the normal channel is like having the bright switch off. I like the way both the reverb and vibrato work and sound on this '64 more than the '65 DRRI. The same guitar (a Strat with '69 custom shop pickups) has noticeably longer sustain when I play it through this '64 compared to my '65 DRRI. Some people have mentioned a possible problem with noise (hiss or hum) from this amp, due to the way the channels are connected together, but I hear virtually no noise at all from this amp, not when it is sitting still (with both normal and vibrato channels turned up to 3), and not when I turn any of the knobs. I wish I had bought this amp in the first place instead of the '65 DRRI.Kenneth

I played a solid state boutique amp for years. It was a 100 watt Pearce amp, with a 2-12'' cabinet. As the great Amos Garrett once said, "The older you get, the smaller your amps get." I decided to go tube and purchased the '60s Fender Princeton and Delux Reverb re-makes. The '65 Delux Reverb remake is simply the best sounding amp I've ever played. I play classic rock, jazz, blues and some world music. It excels, and I mean excels, in every context. Warm, articulate and clean, and the break-up is just so silky. I had a '68 Super Reverb ($400 new back then!) which I sold back in the 1970's. Loved it! Big mistake parting with it (look what their selling for now!). I recently tried a Fender Champion 40. The Champ was a good amp, but just didn't match the tone and warmth of a tube amp. My '65 Deluxe Reverb is ear candy! Although it lacks the "horsepower" of the Super (my gig days are behind me now so I don't need it), it still has enough muscle to rattle your teeth and fill the room. More importantly it was instant smiles and fond memories the minute I fired it up! My Strat, '61 SG and Fender Acoustic (all from AMS!) lit it up! I couldn't be more pleased and impressed. Highly recommend the amp and AMS! Ordered Friday, arrived Sunday, and their payment plans make getting my gear from them simple, easy, affordable and a "no-brainer". My next purchase is already in my cart! High fives to AMS for excellent product lines and outstanding customer service! While it's nice to see and touch something before you buy it, AMS has been very dependable and reliable. Well worth waiting 2-3 days to avail yourself of the value and service(s) they provide!G2

Just a classic Fender tone. The clarify of the clean tone is outstanding. Can get a great crunch tone as well when you get the volume above about 4. I play a lot of styles and have a lot of amps. I think I still prefer my Marshall JVM for very saturated distorted tones, but have been having a ball trying different overdrive pedals with the amp–which it takes very well. If you are ok using pedals to craft different tones, this can be a very versatile amp for all styles.Robb

The 65 SRRI is a very interesting amp that I've had quite a good amount of experience with now, owning a total of 3 of the reissues, 1 from 2001 and 2 from 2017. In my estimation first and foremost, the amp is too loud. If using this for anything but LOUD outdoor/indoor shows, than you're wasting your time and money. The good qualities of this amp are that it handles treble frequencies unlike any way I've ever heard an amp before. Not to be cliche, but it can really only be experienced what "touch-sensitivity" means in this amp. It's a really weird experience because you hear things you don't normally hear, and they're pronounced really articulately. This in my opinion is why Texas Flood sounded the way it did, there's all these harmonics going on that aren't normally produced at low volumes, in a 1×12 cabinet. So now the negatives, this amp is not a jazz amp, it's not a metal or even high-gain amp. It's clean, it's loud, and that's how it works. The 10-inch speakers cut out alot of bottom end that 12 inch speakers give, so you get a very narrow, focused frequency range. I think the speakers themselves and the voicing of the amp in combination give you that sound, but nonetheless the amp doesn't lend itself to anything less than bright, tight, and focused. It doesn't sway from that sound no matter how you EQ it. How I used the amp was in my apartment and it's too loud, too specific of a sound, and is just a real problem unless you need both of the qualities mentioned. If you want loud, clean, and nothing else, this is your amp. I would recommend this product based on it's quality and sound, but only if the person who wanted it needed what it has to offer.Nathan

To preface… I've owned pretty much all the major Fender amps at one point or another. Blues Jrs, Blues Deluxe, Hot Rod Deluxe & Deville, Supersonic, 65 Deluxe Reverb, 65 Princeton, 65 Twin Reverb, 68 custom Princeton Twin & Deluxe and the buck stops here. This is currently the best sounding, most versatile amp that Fender makes, and probably the closest an amp has ever come to being perfect. If you're looking for the world's greatest clean tone/pedal platform/sublime breakup this is it. Period. Save yourself a bunch of money and time and just buy it. One and done. I had a friend recommend me this expensive/heavy beast of an amp years ago and I didn't listen.. turned off by the price and weight. I proceeded to own almost every other Fender but none of them lit me up inside like this one. The reverb is heaven, the tremolo is perfect, it sounds WONDERFUL at 2 on the volume for home practice and WONDERFUL at 3-4 for a gig. Yes it's awkward to carry, yes it's heavy-ish (altho not as much as the twin), but none of that matters because of the sound it produces. It will highlight your playing dynamics, and the true sound of your guitar like no other amp. It will inspire you to play more, it will make you play above your abilities, it gives back. It can handle any kind of music. It sounds great with any guitar you throw at it (although you absolutely must experience it with a strat). It's got tilt back legs which along with the vintage style slot tuners are probably Leo's greatest underappreciated inventions. Don't expect to get this bad boy to break up at home or smaller stage volumes, arm yourself with some good OD pedals. It produces an extremely loud, FULL, 3D sound which spreads across the stage. BONUS- a little known fact… the often neglected normal channel makes a fantastic bass amp. Just try it! If you want an amp you will own for life, an amp to kill your amp GAS once and for all, when only the absolute best will do… the SR is your amp.Strataholic

A lot of the reviews posted here are for Strats, so I'm not sure what's going on. Anyway, I bought the red sparkle Squier Bullet Tele. The finish is gorgeous and that's what prompted me to do a spontaneous purchase. I have only experienced owning USA Teles, but I've played some Squiers that really impressed me. This one? Not so much. I don't detect any finish on the back of the neck although I'm sure it has a sealer of some sort. The body finish is nice, but the bridge hardware is cheaply made and I'll be replacing that for sure. Same goes for the tuners. I'm pretty sure it has some high frets because it goes dead starting at the 10th fret, but some of that was back bow. I loosened the truss and got rid if it, but now when I sight down the neck the forward bow is pretty obvious. I don't notice the frets being sharp on the ends. It now plays plays pretty good after sitting long enough for the truss Rod to settle, but I may need to tighten it just a little to get rid of some of the forward bow. The neck has a very comfortable profile. The body is thinner than my American Teles, but it doesn't bother me – in fact it's lighter which I enjoy. The body is Poplar and that's fine by me. I may leave the back of the neck alone for now because it actually feels pretty good, aesthetics are certainly lacking, but the body makes up for that. I'm sure with a little patience and help from my friends I'll have a nice instrument. All the basics are there. As is, it's not all that great, but still better than my first electric guitar! -!an old Kalamazoo single pickup thing with a bolt on neck back in the mid sixties. Like the title says, this thing has potential. I probably couldn't buy a finished body for what I paid.Ronnie

I bought my black metallic Squier Bullet eight years ago when GC was having a Columbus Day sale. I was looking for a guitar to which I could permanently mount my Roland GR-33 guitar synth's GK2a pickup. Previously I had the pickup mounted on my '96 Strat, and I didn't like this fit because I couldn't close my Strat's case with the pickup installed. I have a gig bag for this Squier, and it fits fine in the bag with pickup installed. Anyway, about the guitar. Right out of the box, it played great, requiring only a minimal amount of action adjustment. I was surprised at how good the pickups sounded, it being a Bullet and all. But the humbucker sounds especially nice when playing the guitar through my Marshall. The neck pickup has a decent sound, but not quite up to the snuff of a good alnico pickup. Still, for what the guitar cost, I really can't complain. If I want to, at some later date, I can always change out the neck pickup to a better alnico model. One thing I especially like about this black Bullet is its looks. The photos here at GC don't show it off all that well, but the guitar body's finish is metallic and the pickguard is a heavy metal flake. It looks spectacular under the lights. And the black hardware does a great job of completing that black look. The Bullet's body is thinner than a typical Strat or Squier Affinity or Classic Vibe body. The result is a light weight guitar, but there is no sacrifice in tone.Michael

I would first like to begin with- I normally would be giving a 5 star rating of this unit/Squier, as I have typically never had problems prior to the recent/earlier this year upset regarding shipping containers/etc being paused/sitting in the ocean/etc, delaying container delivery. PLEASE READ ON FOR FULL EXPLANATION. Two imperative points- 1. The fret ends were so sharp, when I say it was not playable (both sides/neck in its entirety), I mean, it was not playable (THE DATE OF INSPECTION WAS EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND I IMMEDIATELY ASSOCIATED THE FRET ENDS PROBLEM BEING DUE TO THE SHIPS BEING DELAYED/SITTING IN THE OCEAN/ETC- It looked to me like maybe between March and July of this year, although, I couldn't quite make out the stamped month). As well, the serial # of the guitar, of course, was of this year/'22. I maintain/work on most all my guitars, and I normally would've tightened up the fret ends myself, however, there was a hairline crack on the red sparkle finish at the bass side neck joint (which i just couldn't accept, visually), as well as a small tooling gash along the top edge of the headstock. The replacement/reordered guitar arrives tomorrow. 2. THE NEWER UNITS (AS, ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS A 2022-BUILT UNIT) ARE TOP-MOUNT/STRING THROUGH THE BACK OF THE BRIDGE, NOT "STRING-THRU" as the description indicates (and, with Squier bridge mounting, these are 5-screw mount plates, which, if ever you want to upgrade your hardware, particularly, w/the bridge, you must find an aftermarket unit that is "string through the back", along w/the correct string spacing (with Squier, they're 54mm, typically), and you'll typically need to redrill given it's rare to find plates that have Squier mounting dimensions that provided string through the back holes. I'm upgrading to a Babicz, given the results found. Also, there are two string trees (the second being a tree for both the D and G strings), and it looks great, actually, with both. Overall, I was impressed with the finish, as it was nearly flawless (aside from the hairline finish crack mentioned previously). The fretwire/fretwork, felt great….I found maybe two or so "slight" dead spots, which weren't enough of a "ping", or string buzz to be of concern, or critiquing the fretwork negatively. Rather, I was impressed with the fretwork. As well, it's important to note that the mounting of the bridge, along with the neck positioning/etc, was spot-on. No misalignment of the bridge mount/etc (and the same goes for the nut spacing). I've always been impressed with what Fender/Squier/Jackson are putting out. The quality is typically quite high…as for this unit, the quality is high, but the results of the environmental dilemma with either being stuck in a container offshore, or, sitting in a facility for weeks/months/etc, have had quite the impact on this guitar. As an important example, I had purchased a Bullet Tele last year (the unit in Burst color offered here through MF), and it was/is flawless, and I completely upgraded every part. I've been playing guitar since a kid. My Dad used to own a guitar store where he was an amp technician. I'll always remember sneaking into his room when he wasn't home and playing his salmon pink Strat and Twin reverb amp. There was always a magic in them and they really inspired me. Fast forward 30 years and I've grown up just like him. Been playing professionally for a long time through some pretty nice gear but something in me always wanted to revisit that amp, it just had the perfect sounds I played lots of amps before choosing a Marshall 50w plexi as my amp of choice for gigging and it was good, no doubt a about that, played it for almost 15 years straight until one day buying that Twin I'd always so wished I also had. Found I played it far more than the plexi so actually ended up selling the Marshall and just sticking with the 65' reissue! It does everything the Marshall did and more I think. Playing them side by side before making the final decision to sell set my mind at ease because I couldnl get the same sounds from the Twin. Even did a little A/B recording with overdrive and no one could pick which one was which I play mainly classic rock and this amp is everything I'll ever need. Small wattage Amos always sound and feel small to me so was never interested in them, of it's too loud turn it down, the volume is far better than the plexi because that one sat on a hair trigger, really difficult to get a bedroom volume out of. The Twin is quote easy and pot smooth to use. Plexi goes from 0-almost full volume at half way to 1 on the dial. Love itJez

I received the amp yesterday and have only played it (both the vibrato and normal channel) for about half an hour in my living room, but I was so impressed that I wanted to go ahead and write a review, which I almost never do. I've been playing electric guitar almost 50 years and have owned many different amps, almost all Marshall or Fender, including a late 60s or early 70s 100 watt Marshall (no master volume), a mid 70s silver face Twin Reverb and Dual Showman, a 1987X 50 watt Marshall reissue, a '59 Bassman reissue (before the LTD version), a '65 Super Reverb reissue, a Twinolux, and a standard '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. The only other amp I have currently is a wine red '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue (DRRI) with a P12Q Jensen speaker. The '65 DRRI has been one of my favorites. I like the 6V6 sound and I think it's hard to get a bad sound out of that amp. I really like the clarity of the 64 Custom Deluxe Reverb compared to my '65 DRRI. It is noticeably brighter than my '65 DRRI, but part of that may be because the '64 has a C12Q speaker while my current '65 DRRI has a P12Q speaker. Since reverb and vibrato work on both channels of this '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb, the vibrato channel is like having the bright switch on (it reminds me of the way my super reverb sounded with the bright switch on) and the normal channel is like having the bright switch off. I like the way both the reverb and vibrato work and sound on this '64 more than the '65 DRRI. The same guitar (a Strat with '69 custom shop pickups) has noticeably longer sustain when I play it through this '64 compared to my '65 DRRI. Some people have mentioned a possible problem with noise (hiss or hum) from this amp, due to the way the channels are connected together, but I hear virtually no noise at all from this amp, not when it is sitting still (with both normal and vibrato channels turned up to 3), and not when I turn any of the knobs. I wish I had bought this amp in the first place instead of the '65 DRRI.Kenneth

Sound: I write and play original jazz, blues, country, and ballads mostly in various finger styles. All my guitars and all these of these musical styles sound better on this TM Deluxe than on any amp I've ever played through or heard. Features: This amp has every feature of the original, except the weight and the ever-flaky tubes. The only missing feature is an external speaker jack (although the onboard speaker is *much* better than boutique amps costing lots more money). Musicians drool over this amp. Then they pick it up. Then they decide to buy one. Ease of Use: Easy to get great sounds – no learning curve – as long as you're using a really good guitar. Each knob responds just like the original Deluxe, except that the reverb is usable (and interesting) right up to 10 (not true of any Fender tube reverb). Quality: Very good quality construction. Should last for many years or reliable performance. Value: It's well worth the money! Manufacturer Support: No problems with this amp (either mine or my friend's who got one for his birthday), so I haven't contacted Fender about it for any reason. The Wow Factor: It's beautiful and the sound quality is superb. Overall: I'm a 74-year-old singer/songwriter who's been playing professionally for 60 years. I bought this blonde Tone Master Deluxe in July 2021 from zZounds. With an XLR cable from its integrated direct interface, I plug it into the house Mackie 16-track mixer most Saturday mornings and play on a live radio show that's been going for over 30 years – I've played most Saturdays for the past 5 years. I owned a 1960s Vibrolux Reberb and a 1970s Twin Reverb for years – neither one sounded as good as this TM Deluxe – and both broke down every other show and weighed *way* too much. Every Saturday morning, I get warm compliments on the sound of this TM Deluxe from audience members and other musicians. It's well worth the money! All that beautiful tone and neither a tube nor a capacitor will every give out right at the start of your gig. I gave one of these as a birthday present to an old friend in Detroit this fall (youngest person ever inducted in the Hall of Fame by the Detroit Blues Society). He has a whole lot of amps in his studio, but the TM Deluxe is the only one that he's using anymore for recording and for gigs.Ira

I bought this amp a couple of weeks ago, we're still closed down for COVID 19 where I live so I haven't used it at club volume yet but judging from at-home tinkering, its got plenty of volume. I have a silver face deluxe reverb and a reissue to compare this to and really, I'm surprised at how accurately Fender reproduced that punchy sound that's unique to the deluxe reverb. They've added a couple of, shall we say, quirky features. It has a "mute" switch where the standby switch would normally be, even though there's no need for standby on a solid state amp. The mute switch feels flimsy compared to the power switch, I'll probably just leave that on all the time. Time will tell how it holds up. Even though Fender doesn't mention it in the literature, they've made a fake warm-up, as if the tubes were powering up, except there are no tubes. There is a 10 or 15 second delay between turning it on to sound coming out. I don't understand the reasoning behind the fake warm-up but OK, it doesn't hurt anything. The amp has 100 watts, it take more solid state watts to replicate the tube sound and performance and again, it really sounds a lot like the traditional tube amp. On the back panel is a sort-of power attenuator that's got six settings labeled from 0.2 watts to full / 22 watts. The labeling doesn't have anything to do with the actual power output, I guess it has to do with keeping the 22 watt tube vibe. The attenuator is actually quite useful. The lowest setting is great for in-home practice and the other settings are much louder but let it break up at lower volumes until you hit full power which sounds like it's louder and cleaner with more headroom than the tube versions. Overall, I'm happier with this purchase than I thought I'd be. The amp is light and easy to carry, no tubes to go bad in the middle of a gig, great practice amp and I expect it will perform well at club volume when and if we ever get back to that.Johnny Rockabilly

Just can't say enough good things about this amp. From the moment I plugged it in I was in tone heaven. Simply strummed a chord and just found myself listening amazed at what a good amp can do to bring out the tone of a guitar. Everything about the amp is just right. Great tone without having to shatter my eardrums. Simple tone controls that I honestly haven't had to really touch at all. Stellar reverb and very nice tremolo. I have used tremolo pedals and reverb pedals and there is no comparison to the real deal that this amp produces. Both channels are very useful, the custom channel takes pedals better for sure while the vintage channel just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. I for sure plan to hook up an a/b switch so I can use both. Fit and finish were perfect and it came with a really nice dust cover. Only negatives I have found are that turning it off creates a loud pop. I researched and apparently it is normal and many say to turn the volume down and then power it off from the power switch rather than turning the standby off first which does make a difference. My understanding is that the standby is for turning the amp on to warm up for a minute or two, then turn the standby on and standby isn't for turning off. Also standby isn't for taking breaks though that is the urban legend. Only other negative is that I would prefer a pedal that either has lights on it to know if trem and reverb are on or some sort of light on the amp but since I pretty much always have reverb on and can clearly tell when the trem is on not a show stopper but would have been usefulmelodyguy

I brought into the hype and got the 68 deluxe. Not a bad amp, but not worth the money. Besides the noise issues and lack of a mid EQ you can't switch channels without an AB box. It's a nice sounding amp, but the Hot rod deluxe has more channels and headroom and the Blues deluxe is also a better sounding and useful amp. I would suggest doing a side by side comparison before buying.Mike Hickey

This is the way it should go… you go to buy an amp, and if it doesn't already come with a cover, there should be one listed right beside it to purchase. It should have the brand logo on it (easier to find what amp is under all those black covers). It should not be WAY jacked up in price (those Marshall covers are expensive for what they are). This fits the criteria. They are readably available (no paying shipping from Asia), it has that Fender logo, and it was a fair price. It feels well made, so my guess is that it will last and protect the amp… not from a road crew, but from the few bumps while moving things around at home and getting slid in and out of the truck.Swerve City Guitarist

To explain my title: At first I totally regretted my choice of "Brown", because I have a black Pro Junior III, and I'd imagine the brown was designed to be more suited for the Tweed amp. I tried to cancel the order of the brown and get black instead; but without success (it shipped immediately). The brown one showed up, and it looked fantastic…even on the black amp, and especially in my Studio where all my other covers are black. It seems to "stand out" amongst my gear, and gives the on-looker a sense of 'there must be something special under there'. Nice durable material, nice sturdy build. Amp handle hole on top could be a narrower fit (it's about 6 inches too long—3 on each side of the handle), but I can overlook that because of the quality and eye-appeal of the rest of the cover. Definitely worth the purchase! 4 stars instead of 5 for the handle slot's over length; I think that's fair.White Dog

It does everything I expected it to do. It sounds, plays and has the dynamics and feel of a valve amp but without the weight. Quality of the build is excellent. I haven't been able to compare it to a Fender Twin reverb as I don't own one or have access to one but for me that's not a problem. Many have written reviews focusing on just how close it is to a valve twin reverb but I'm not sure that adds any value as every twin reverb sounds slightly different anyway. This amp sounds great, and for me provides the pedal platform I need with bags of clean headroom. My valve amps, an original American made Hotrod Deville and a Vox AC15 give me alternative voicing's for studio use should I need them but for gigging the tone master twin wins hands down. The 'extras' on the back panel work really well. I've compared the IR DI to a SM57. I set up a SM57 in front of the speaker grill in the usual position and used the DI output simultaneously and recorded them at the same time. On playback I switched between the two and couldn't tell the difference. The switch that controls the power output (not sure where in the circuit this is) means you can set the amp volume on the sweet spot and then using the power sector control the overall volume so that there is no, or very little, change in the saturation/tone. At the lower wattage settings (1w & 5w) there isn't enough output to give a full sound out of two 12 inch speakers but is fine for low volume practice, 12w it starts to sing and at the 22w and 45w settings it rocks. Haven't needed to use the 85w setting yet..!! Well done Fender and excellent and quick service from GAK. In summary, a great amp.Ian H.

Fender's market research and R&D folks must have read my mind a while back. I was looking for a clean combo amp with 2-12's and sufficient power to do louder gigs without sound reinforcement, but was light enough for my worn-out body to carry. My benchmark was the venerable Fender Twin Reverb, and I actually considered kludging together a 2-12 open back cabinet with neo speakers and some kind of Class D power amp. I had considered a Champion 100. I have a Champion 40 but was turned off by the build quality, speakers, and modeling of these guys. I wanted a Twin I could carry. You're thinking the Tone Master Twin Reverb is a Champion 100 with different cosmetics. Yes, it's a digital modelling amp with no tubes. No, it doesn't have Holy Grail speakers in it. But – – It sounds as good as my early '68 Silverface Twin Reverb with JBL D120F's did. – The controls work just like they did back then. – It can be Twin Reverb LOUD (or NOT when the gig and common sense requires it) – I can carry it with one finger – And it looks like a Twin Reverb should. Even came with a cover. The build quality is there even though the weight isn't. Cosmetics are right on, down to the swoosh logo plate and tilt-back legs. The controls feel just like CTS pots, the knobs are classic Fender 0-10 skirted items, and the volume and tone stack controls feel right, and do exactly what you'd expect them to do. The power and mute switches are right where you'd find the power and standby switches on a Tube TR. The reverb is simply luscious, and the vibrato is right on. The Jensen neos do the job, but I do wonder how much they will change as the get broken in. But out of the box they are doing well. My intent was to get an amp that would be used with pedals, and I didn't consider a channel switcher for this task. I've used it on two gigs so far and it's exceeded my expectations with power to spare, and no back injuries, which at my age is well worth the price tag.C.D. From H.B.F.

I played a solid state boutique amp for years. It was a 100 watt Pearce amp, with a 2-12'' cabinet. As the great Amos Garrett once said, "The older you get, the smaller your amps get." I decided to go tube and purchased the '60s Fender Princeton and Delux Reverb re-makes. The '65 Delux Reverb remake is simply the best sounding amp I've ever played. I play classic rock, jazz, blues and some world music. It excels, and I mean excels, in every context. Warm, articulate and clean, and the break-up is just so silky. I had a '68 Super Reverb ($400 new back then!) which I sold back in the 1970's. Loved it! Big mistake parting with it (look what their selling for now!). I recently tried a Fender Champion 40. The Champ was a good amp, but just didn't match the tone and warmth of a tube amp. My '65 Deluxe Reverb is ear candy! Although it lacks the "horsepower" of the Super (my gig days are behind me now so I don't need it), it still has enough muscle to rattle your teeth and fill the room. More importantly it was instant smiles and fond memories the minute I fired it up! My Strat, '61 SG and Fender Acoustic (all from AMS!) lit it up! I couldn't be more pleased and impressed. Highly recommend the amp and AMS! Ordered Friday, arrived Sunday, and their payment plans make getting my gear from them simple, easy, affordable and a "no-brainer". My next purchase is already in my cart! High fives to AMS for excellent product lines and outstanding customer service! Just a classic Fender tone. The clarify of the clean tone is outstanding. Can get a great crunch tone as well when you get the volume above about 4. I play a lot of styles and have a lot of amps. I think I still prefer my Marshall JVM for very saturated distorted tones, but have been having a ball trying different overdrive pedals with the amp–which it takes very well. If you are ok using pedals to craft different tones, this can be a very versatile amp for all styles.Robb

I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. I started playing my Mustang Bass through this and it did the job. It's a small amp, not a practice amp. This is perfect for camping trips, rocking at the office or kicking it in the backyard. Oh yeah and you can plug in 1/4 headphones and keep the concert to yourself. It runs on a 9-volt battery or you can plug in a 9-volt adapter.SERGIO

Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. It's not clear sounding and my goal to play through an amp is to sound good and I felt if I actually played this in front of people, the muddyness would make me sound amateurish. So, for what you pay for this, yes, you get amplified but it's not real great quality, unless you're a metal player because you don't get a clean sound from this. I rate this 3 stars because it's convenient to have a portable battery operated tiny amp that you can plug into and get sound from, however, the quality almost makes you not even want to play it.Jesse

My Strat Squire sounds soooo Fender good out of this lil sucka & my electric/acoustic, sooo crisp.Ultra light to carry around.I've been using the JOYO mini,I love it,plug in,no chord,fun but this Fender mini is a bit more.More tone options and louder.I've yet to find out how quick it eats batteries. The JOYO burns them up fast.Get the rechargeables.Also the JOYO has an MP3 input.This doesn't. I run guitar strap thru the handle so the chord is like non-existent or U can old school it and have a 10 or 20 ft chord.So light it can be pulled over by the chord.These mini amps also pick up radio signals. When I turn them on I can hear radio stations at certain angles. So get 1 for the road.It's all about the fun.annoyingted1

Two weeks in, I'm enjoying this amplifier every day. Brilliant clean tones we all know and love, with both Fender Telecaster and Gibson Les Paul. I'm playing the Bright channel, volume at 4, EQs at 6, reverb at 4, tremolo speed at 6, intensity at 5. It sounds huge, without being too loud. For loud, I play the LP into a Dr. Z Route 66, and that's been my favorite tone. Now, this gives that a run for its money– different beast, but very complimentary. I have no plans to buy any more amps.BRENDAN

Wonderful amp. Sounds just like an original mid 60s Deluxe Reverb I just to own except better. Reverb and tremolo on both channels and the normal channel has the bright cap removed. Plus its new, so no worn out parts to deal with. Sound is lush and clean at lower volume and starts to sing as the gain is increased. Really outstanding. Its expensive – but still a very good value for a hand wired amp. An original would cost the same or more and there would be issues to deal with.alasinge0

All I can say is, "Wow." This amp sounds phenomenal. It just sounds so full and rich and clear. It just naturally compresses and breaks up in such a nice and subtle way. At 4 on the volume, there is just enough for the notes to be chewy without being too loud to play at home (in a twin house). I was just immediately blown away by the lush 3D sound, and I have always been a huge fan of the bias vary tremolo. Sonically it is very close to my special edition 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue which has a Jensen P12Q. the Deluxe just adds so much more on every level. I still love both amps, but I really can't imagine waiting to turn on any of my other amps after playing this. I've owned a ton of amps, and this is the first time I have felt I could actually see myself selling all of the others.Patman
