I've used a lot of guitar straps over the years. Frequently the (nylon?) backing on the strap starts to fray and tear away in small black pieces. I hate that. So I purchased this strap because it has no backing. At first I was a bit concerned that I would not like the feel but, it turns out that this strap is very comfortable. The leather mounting ends and the associated stitching of this area looks durable. It even feels a bit lighter than other straps that have the backing material. After decades of cheap-o straps that cut my neck, I thought I'd break down and get a cool-looking retro tweed. It's much more comfortable on my neck than I anticipated. Just wanted a dupe of the strap that came with my Am Vintage Strat. A decent traditional rawhide strap works better for me & I hate strap locks. Alas, not the same strap. Material is about 1/2 the thickness on this one. Also, for most people the existing holes only let the guitar hang to the knees. Decided to keep it only because I had an awl & leather hole punch handy, so cutoff a bunch of the strap & punched a few new holes. The strap isn't that bad, I mean it works. My only issue is that it was waaaay too long like others have said. I put a couple extra holes and it works fine. It's really thin and dainty. But it holds up a 5lb Danelectro DC and a 8lb Telecaster. I tried it on my Gibson Les Paul (about 9lbs) and it was fine, I just didn't trust it THAT much. I definitely love the retro look of this thing. The shoulder pad can be removed if you want an even more retro look; but make sure your shoulder can handle the weight of your guitar with that thin of a strap. There is plenty of strap there to work with (for me any way) to run the top of the strap all the way up to the headstock on an acoustic comfortably. WHY IT GETS ONLY 4 STARS: The down side on mine is, I feel the button holes are a bit larger than they need to be…so might wanna get some rubber strap locks (washers). I leave my strap on when I put the guitar in it's case (to avoid widening the button holes even more), so I have to lay the buckle over the strings so it doesn't scratch the guitar. I'm willing to put up with that, because I like the looks of the buckle. If you're looking for a way to ad a little more eye appeal to your guitar (especially acoustic), grab one of these…people will notice.White Dog

I got tired of some straps rubbing my neck raw, until I found this one. Super Soft is right. It is durable, looks good, and I can play a lot longer without breaks. Even though GC sells Fender brand straps, they don't carry this particular one. (Hint-Hint). So I go to put the strap on the telecaster. The leather ends have the slot/holes cut out. Maybe this was a little off but it took forever to get the strap over the buttons. I actually unscrewed the bottom button, put it through the strap and screwed it back in. No kidding, and all the time trying not to damage the guitar or finish. Guess it won't be falling off any time soon. So yeah it works great as a strap but just try to get it on an off the guitar!eagle_watch

What I love about this strap is on me I can open it up to the max and the guitar sits just how I want it when I'm standing up. Now I'm not super tall (5"6') so again you need to factor that in as well ! That aside it's just the right width … I'm not a fan of straps that are 3 or more inches wide. This strap width is 2. Now it also is reasonably comfortable. There's definitely some amount of padding in it … and I usually opt against thick feeling padding straps and this starts to approach that but isn't over padded if that makes sense. When compared to high end Levy's straps I don't know how well the strap is going to last overtime (the leather feels slightly thinner and it is stitched very well. You can guess I'm picky and narrowed down to this strap from about 40 based on value but not completely ignoring quality. In the end it's a nice guitar strap. If you can find it for under $30 like I did then it's a really good deal !mgreco2k5

It's really soft and supple right from new and looks as good as it feels. It's WELL worth the price and although it might look like a bit of a gamble, trust me it's one that pays off. I've been stoked all day after getting this and putting it on my guitar. I've attached a photo. For those that are interested, the black plastics kit was 18, the scratchplate 27 and the Seymour Duncan Classic Stack Humbuckers were 80 each. They still sound exactly like a Strat should, maybe with little more guts but they don't lose any of the essential sound of the Strat. They are however completely silent in positions 1, 3 and 5 and well worth the money in terms of build and sound quality and if 60 cycle hum is something you want to avoid they are a great solution. If you have a guitar where rigid plastic will fit on your guitar this strap will be fine. If you have a Bixby or need soft leather this won't work. Basic Stratocaster and Telecaster models are fine but you are dealing with a flat rigid plastic locking mechanism.Joel

A guitar strap with quick release end points that can be quickly detached from the guitar is a cool idea so that the guitar can be stowed in its case with the strap removed. However this strap has basically cheap plastic end points that I would not trust to hold the guitar securely. A strap that can't be trusted to support the guitar is useless.Bryan
