Well built short scale bass; very cool that it has a high F on the first string, my '75 Fender Mustang only goes up to D. This bass is more of a thumper axe that plays well with fingers or pick; feels similar to a Precision bass neck. It is not much for slapping and snapping but I'm starting to find the sweet spot to do that in a pinch. I've been using the natural finish model regularly for about three months and get a lot of positive comments and questions about it. The Starcaster is a heavy bass so if weight is an issue you had better look elsewhere; if you like easy to play short scale thumpers this would be an excellent choice.jzbassguitar
The Starcaster is quite good quality although the original set-up from the factory was fair at best. The intonation had to be adjusted and set correctly. Now corrected it is a fun bass to play and has a nice warm vintage tone. I use a vintage Traynor Bassmaster (1966) Tube Amp YB1-A with a Yamaha 12" bass driver cabinet. Sure gets the old 100 year old windows a rattlin'! For the money its not only a good quality instrument but a piece of artwork, especially in the Cherry Sunburst!G the Bassmaster

I already own an Am Std Strat and Tele and a G&L Tele all single coil. I wanted to try a humbucker sound and being loyal to Fender, I purchased this guitar. The high quality feel, looks and sound of this guitar were immediately apparent. The sound has a distinct "bite" which is perfect for certain uses with the typical humbucker "growl". The Pearly Gates can get dirty, clean and somewhere in between depending on my settings. Though not made in America, this guitar is not "cheap", corners were not cut. Rock, blues, jazz all sound great. I use to be an "American Made", single coils only snob, but this purchase changed my opinions.GM
Overall: This guitar is a real surprise. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice. It's comfortable to play and the weight is fine even for long gigs. The neck is very comfortable to play and easy to get to the high notes. You can do most any style of music with it. I use it with Fender, Marshall and Boss Katana Amps and it complements them all like they were made for each other. I definitely recommend this guitar to anyone wanting to have a Tele sound and Les Paul style sound all in one great guitar. You get the best of both worlds without paying a fortune for it. I have a Peavey (Steve)Cropper Classic guitar as my daily driver, now sadly discontinued. This Fender HHFMT is perfect as a replacement. It is very light. It looks great. The pickups are powerful and very smooth. It sounds like a tele, it punches shred like my 1960 model, LP Classic. I always wanted the Fender Robben Ford guitar to get that “Talk To Your Daughter” tone which this guitar delivers on brilliantly. It covers the Stevie Ray Vaughn sound and feel, I also think it could handle a set of 12 gauge strings without dropping tuning as the action and play-ability is excellent right out of the box. I have twenty Fenders, including seven telecasters, and this is better than all of them. The neck feels like its been played for years, and the shape is perfect. Heavy rolled edges make it a pleasure to play with my thumb over the neck. First guitar I have bought that I had to raise the action slightly on the top two strings. Set up for fast playing or chords straight out of the case. The colour is sparkly brownish, but looks black in most light. Very well made guitar. The pickups are noiseless and are silent even with pedals. They sound like standard pickups, no loss of signal because of the extra windings for the noise cancellation. Sound fine. I must say, the pro 1 series pickups sound better. All in all a lovely instrument, well worth the extra few quid.STEVEN T.
Overall: I have an Ultra Strat in Cobra Blue, an Ultra Jazz Bass in Texas Tea, a Les Paul Standard Gold Top and other guitars. This has the most beautiful finish (Sunburst). The Fender Ultra Telecaster Texas Tea is an amazing guitar, at first I noticed the D-Shape neck and quickly adapted to it. The neck feels silky smooth, hand glides over frets and is easy to play. The sound from pickups are brutally brilliant, and wit the S1 switch built into the tone knob, sends a slightly different signal, bit more gain with full richness depending on the selector position of course. I went initially seeking for the Jimmy Page Dragon Guitar and walk out of the shop with this Ultra instead, and for the few hundred dollars more, this guitar is totally worth it. The look of it is killer, and so classy – if there is an ultra guitar series in your guitar shop locally, don't hesitate to pick it up and test it out. This guitar is HOT! It's difficult to see in these photos but the colour under certain light angles are different and has small sparkling metallic substances mixed in with the colour. It's a black oily dark grey/brown. The neck has a vintage tone colour and the rosewood neck and skunk stripe just makes this guitar special.Jim T.

The original Coronado was a well made hollow body designed to compete with the Gibson 335 series. It was discontinued while I was in high school in 1972. Only us older guys really remember this guitar. I have been playing for 41 years. I really wanted one back in the day but my teenage income put it beyond reach. This reissue is a great retake on the original. It is made in China. Any biases regarding this should be put aside for now. The workmanship is impressive: it arrived without blemish. I purchased the candy apple red version. The out-of-the-box set up was decent, the finish was without flaw, and it sounded awesome. The Fender Fideli-Tron humbucking pickups on this guitar were meant to mimic the Gretsch sound. These pickups are only a "ballpark" figure to their Gretsch counter parts, but they stand fully on their own. These pickups are a real sleeper. The original Coronado had a tendency to feed back a bit worse than other hollow body designs of the day. The reissue is semi-hollow design that reduces feed-back substantially. It sports a beefy alder center block and this can be felt in the heft of the guitar. The neck feels and plays great. It is rather thick compared to other Fender "C" shapes, but it should be comfortable for most players. For players with larger hands, upper fret access may be somewhat limited. The cut-away could be deeper in my opinion, but it doesn't substantially detract from the guitar. This is a "bright" sounding guitar: it is "Telecaster-esque" tonally. It has the quality of a mini-humbucker: bright but not "twangy". It doesn't possess the beefy mid-range tone of a Les Paul or an SG. If you really like that sound, this guitar may not be for you. This is as minty a fender modern player coronado ii as you're going to find. still has the factory clear plastic on both fidelitron pickups as well as on the pickguard and has the original hang tag still attached. i bought this guitar new, used it for one studio session, then put in storage. probably 30 minutes total play time. no scars, scratches or marks that i can find anywhere on it. the only small flaw i can see is a slight discoloration on the switch tip from where it's been in contact with the inside of a gig bag for the last 7 years. the modern player coronado is called a 'reissue' but in reality it's a big improvement over the 1960's originals. those were fully hollow, fed back terribly and had a tendency to cave in on themselves. the modern player version has a center block for sustain and stability and fender's version of filtertron pickups. that combination makes it feel and sound more like a cross between a gibson 335 and a gretsch. non-original gig bag included.

Happy holidays and just in time for cyber monday. selling my much loved fender coronado (reissue) with original 1969s fender coronado tremolo system (non-original trem arm). guitar looked amazing but sounds and plays even better. big fan of these fidelitron pickups that have a lot more beef and presence than the original single coil pickups in the original run of coronado s. this guitar is basically a mix between a gibson 335 and a jazzmaster. fantastic neck and love the look of the block inlays. please note i have an original 1967 fender coronado that i am comparing to. thinning the herd so decided to keep my original and let this go, though it has been a hard decision. guitar is in 100% working order and recently setup. stays in tune well and has sustain for days. there is about a dime size chip in the varnish right at the top of the headstock and is merely cosmetic. comes with non original roadrunner hardshell case and will be packed well. please reach out with any questions.
