The Fender designed alnico pickups are packed with authentic Stratocaster tone! The nickel hardware looks as good as it feels. The vintage tuners are much better than I expected. The bone nut is another great feature. I was a little unsure about the Indian laurel fretboard until I played it. WOW! This guitar is jam-packed with special features that will make any level of player super happy. I have only had it a few days, but I have not played any of my other guitars since it arrived. I am more than satisfied with all aspects of this guitar. The fit and finish are superb. it was set up really well right out of the box. If I HAD to pick something I was not happy with, it would be the sharp fret ends which took me less than 10 minutes to correct. This guitar plays even better than it looks! Squier knocked it out of the park with this model. If you are considering buying one of these… YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
I was initially a little disappointed, the neck seemed really “dry” and not pleasant to use, the frets were really rough and scratchy and there was an audible “ping” every time I bent the the 1st and second strings. I oiled the neck, polished the frets and eventually replaced the nut (after much filing). Now it plays really nicely but before that was not great. For an experienced player it is no problem to have to do a bit of work to get a guitar playing well but for a beginner it could have been off putting and demotivated them from playing this instrument.Phil C.
I bought the Squier Classic Vibe '70s Stratocaster Electric Guitar Natural. The fretboard is rough and extremely dry. Frets seem too tall, or something?? — my fingers seem to be pushing to hard, doesn't feel good. Strings were rusty. I've spent a couple hundred at luthier trying to get it right, and it's still not quite there. I had pickup switch replaced. I've been using Fender Super 250 10s. I'll try 9's. NOT impressed with fretboard at all. The trim where neck goes into body was loose and dangling. OTHER THAN THAT — It's a beautiful guitar. Sounds nice. I'll figure it out eventually. The quality control people were asleep on this one.Michael

I have been playing for almost 25 years, been owning various fender and gibson products in the past. Since i have been constantly gigging in the local venue in the past; i roughly have the experience on what would work or not. This tele is the best thing for your money. It wont beat any vintage tele or suhr or any of the boutique guitars. But, it holds its own as workhorse and the go to for many workman musician and students alike. Sound quality wise, it is exceptionally best for its price. Workmanship, definetely top notch for its price. This tele works best with light to mild overdrive for classic rock, blues and pop music. I own a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Fender MIM maple neck Strat. This is the perfect marriage of these two instruments. The humbucker gives extra drive you would expect from a les Paul type guitar while retaining the spankyness of a strat. It can't do all the mim does though in terms of that 2nd position quack and the 1st position single coil goodness. I would describe the classic vibes as more mellow than the mim and more suitable for Rock than mim. The alnico pickups sing and are alive. The mim ceramic pickups seem darker. mim has that Skynyrd vibe while the CV has more of a Molly Hatchet/BlackCrowes/Zeppelin/Aerosmith quality to it. If you're on the fence between a les Paul or a strat then get this. If you want straight up spank get the sss strat. If you're looking for a edgier strat then get this. I am not disappointed. It is different than a les Paul but on the humbucker it's close. The main feel difference between this and my mim strat is the CV had a smaller neck. The mim has a chunkier feel to it.JB

Played and sounded great and I don't think this guitar needs anything for a beginner, nor will it give a beginner many problems. I'm a bassist and compared to other guitars I've held, the neck is a little on the chunky side… medium chunky. I directly compared the Squier Classic Vibes with Fender Player series model guitars and the difference in quality is almost imperceptible. I did buy this as a mod platform (image attached!). If you're doing the same, save yourself a few hunny and go with the CV. 🙂Seth

Unfortunately, it's not those who have waited patiently in line who get to choose their "exact model" it's all the nice people that follow. In a perfect world that would be great but the model I waited so long for came to me with a poor finish, some defects in the paint and a bridge and Jack plate that looked "road worn." Overall, this is not that BIG of a deal but somebody, during the 55 point inspection should have picked up on this! After all, I did pay a decent chunk of change for the guitar. So, as far as the inspection goes, I've lost all faith. Now, if I were to grade the sound, I'd give it 5 stars. I am planning on replacing the bridge pickup but that's just a preference thing. If I were to grade the guitar on how it feels, it's 5 stars all the way. The color itself is definitely more green than blue. Looks more like a faded surf green than a faded sonic blue. Just a bit more green than I'd prefer. Again, I would have been much happier choosing my model than relying on someone else to pick it out for me. Lastly, it's a pretty cool guitar. It's my 5th Classic Vibe so I had certain expectations. Although underwhelmed and a bit disappointed, it's still a pretty cool guitar. Not at all worth packing it up and sending it back. Anyway, where else can you find a sonic blue strat at this price point?

I love this guitar so much that when I heard they were going to stop making them, I had to buy two. It has everything I love about a Stratocaster and none of the things I don't. I love the extra large headstock and believe Strats with that feature sound and feel better. Also, I hate the center pickup on a normal Strat because it gets in my way and doesn't have enough difference in sound to make it worth taking up your guitar's real estate. I love the humbucker on the bridge which is an absolute necessity for the kind of rock I play and a single coil on the neck is the only way to get that signature Strat sound that I love so much. I bought a blond one and a black one and changed out the pickguards to black on both because I hate the pearloid look. These are killer Strats!jenningsmusic
I tried this guitar out at the local music store and instantly fell in love with it. Nice and light, plays like a dream and sounds amazing. I previously purchased a Classic Series 60's Strat and had looked hard at the 50's since then. Musician's Friend had 15% off for Fender recently, so pulled the trigger on one. I had only one time before (not MF) bought online/sight unseen, but this one arrived in perfect condition, set up well (low action, intonation set, trem floated) and ready to play. The soft V neck profile is very nice, the pickups sound even better than the Classic Series 60's (even though they are supposed to be the same pickups). Fit/finish/appearance is spot on. My first Strat was a 1983 Vintage series '57 RI. This MIM Strat looks nicer, plays better and sounds better than that MIA I bought back in 1983. The Mexican made Strats can actually be a mighty fine guitar! I've bought a few guitars on Ebay and out of three, one was like brand new. One was ok, it needed some new strings and some twirling, and the third wasn't any good at all and makeover on. It now plays like an American Strat and is just a wonderful guitar. I got to learn a lot from that one and I think I'm gonna start getting into re-working cheaper ones and making them real nice guitars for guys or girls wanting something better while being on a budget. When buying a guitar on Ebay, make sure you can get your money back if it's no good. Ask questions! Don't overspend just be patient, the right one will come along. I have been trying to find the ideal Fender on a non-Custom Shop budget. I tried a Highway One and it wouldn't intonate. Finally I looked at my wife's '59 Jazzmaster, which I love playing, and realized: Wait a minute, the neck radius on the J-Master is 7.25, not 9.5 or 12, and I get along with that neck, so…I ordered the 50s Classic. This is a good guitar regardless of where it is made. I put a 9-42 set on it instead of the 10-46 it comes with and the action became perfect. The Daphne Blue is so 1950s, and well it should be, it's a Cadillac color (Leo loved using auto paint for his guitars). Thankfully not anywhere near as heavy as other Fenders I have tried. The sound is classically Stratlike. Pickups are low output, as the originals were. So far I can't stop playing it. This is pretty much the Strat I have been looking for all along.werewolf

I own a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Fender MIM maple neck Strat. This is the perfect marriage of these two instruments. The humbucker gives extra drive you would expect from a les Paul type guitar while retaining the spankyness of a strat. It can't do all the mim does though in terms of that 2nd position quack and the 1st position single coil goodness. I would describe the classic vibes as more mellow than the mim and more suitable for Rock than mim. The alnico pickups sing and are alive. The mim ceramic pickups seem darker. mim has that Skynyrd vibe while the CV has more of a Molly Hatchet/BlackCrowes/Zeppelin/Aerosmith quality to it. If you're on the fence between a les Paul or a strat then get this. If you want straight up spank get the sss strat. If you're looking for a edgier strat then get this. I am not disappointed. It is different than a les Paul but on the humbucker it's close. The main feel difference between this and my mim strat is the CV had a smaller neck. The mim has a chunkier feel to it.JB

Played and sounded great and I don't think this guitar needs anything for a beginner, nor will it give a beginner many problems. I'm a bassist and compared to other guitars I've held, the neck is a little on the chunky side… medium chunky. I directly compared the Squier Classic Vibes with Fender Player series model guitars and the difference in quality is almost imperceptible. I did buy this as a mod platform (image attached!). If you're doing the same, save yourself a few hunny and go with the CV. 🙂Seth

Unfortunately, it's not those who have waited patiently in line who get to choose their "exact model" it's all the nice people that follow. In a perfect world that would be great but the model I waited so long for came to me with a poor finish, some defects in the paint and a bridge and Jack plate that looked "road worn." Overall, this is not that BIG of a deal but somebody, during the 55 point inspection should have picked up on this! After all, I did pay a decent chunk of change for the guitar. So, as far as the inspection goes, I've lost all faith. Now, if I were to grade the sound, I'd give it 5 stars. I am planning on replacing the bridge pickup but that's just a preference thing. If I were to grade the guitar on how it feels, it's 5 stars all the way. The color itself is definitely more green than blue. Looks more like a faded surf green than a faded sonic blue. Just a bit more green than I'd prefer. Again, I would have been much happier choosing my model than relying on someone else to pick it out for me. Lastly, it's a pretty cool guitar. It's my 5th Classic Vibe so I had certain expectations. Although underwhelmed and a bit disappointed, it's still a pretty cool guitar. Not at all worth packing it up and sending it back. Anyway, where else can you find a sonic blue strat at this price point?

11. Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar 3-Color

This is a really cool 60s classic series stratocaster. it has one of the most playable necks of any strats. the pickups are the fashioned after the famous '69 style pickups. they are warm and bright all at the same time. there’s tons of fret life. it is currently set up for .11s, but im happy to put .10s on it if you prefer. the lacquer has a little bubble on the back, and a small ding on the front. the metal has a little tarnish. theres also a crack by the high e on the pickguard and some scratches where someone tried to adjust the truss rod. realistically, it's in "very good" condition for a 20 year old guitar, but i posted as good to be on the safe side. i will include a new pickguard with a full price offer.

I love this guitar so much that when I heard they were going to stop making them, I had to buy two. It has everything I love about a Stratocaster and none of the things I don't. I love the extra large headstock and believe Strats with that feature sound and feel better. Also, I hate the center pickup on a normal Strat because it gets in my way and doesn't have enough difference in sound to make it worth taking up your guitar's real estate. I love the humbucker on the bridge which is an absolute necessity for the kind of rock I play and a single coil on the neck is the only way to get that signature Strat sound that I love so much. I bought a blond one and a black one and changed out the pickguards to black on both because I hate the pearloid look. These are killer Strats!jenningsmusic
I tried this guitar out at the local music store and instantly fell in love with it. Nice and light, plays like a dream and sounds amazing. Awhile ago I acquired a $2000 USA strat, one of the top of the line, and sold it because I liked playing this one more. Seriously, I've owned over 100 guitars and this one hands down is my favorite. 1999 fender classic series '70s stratocaster tested and 100% functional! we ask that you observe its pictures closely and invite you to contact us with any additional questions you may have. this 1999 fender classic series '70s stratocaster has been gently owned and is in very good cosmetic shape with light, normal wear! a tiny finish chip on the treble side of the neck pocket and a minor finish crack on the neck pocket's bass side can be detected upon close inspection. minor indentations can be found on the back of the neck. a couple of these tiny indentations can be found on top of the headstock as well. neck is straight as an arrow! the first five frets show moderate wear, though play is not affected. looks, plays and sounds great! comes in an unbranded tweed hardshell case. you'll recognize the reissue fender '70s stratocaster electric guitar by its u-shaped neck, large headstock, and "bullet" truss rod. but these essential strat features of the '70s era are just the beginning for this beautiful reissue g

She's a beauty, with lots of character. fender classic series 70 s olympic white body and trem (circa 2007). upgrades: fender vintera mod roasted maple neck. fender (schaller) locking tuners. mojotone quiet coil 58 set with hot bridge. low-torque cts potentiometers, a switchcraft jack, a mojotone vitamin t oil-filled capacitor, and a crl 5-way switch. in great condition, except for a chip and cracks that have developed in the finish around the neck. this is apparently very common with the white finishes. i'm not sure why. shipping to the continental us only. gigbag and trem included. update- took to local luthier, who filled the chip and glued and sealed the cracks in the finish to make sure they don't continue to get larger. there is some discoloration around the larger crack due to the glue and sanding process. this slight mismatch in shades of white should age away with time.
