Reviews:
I bought this as a Stupid Deal of the Day. I wasn't expecting great quality — just a serviceable instrument. Alas, even there I was disappointed. There were minor annoyances like absolutely no documentation — no manual in the box; no manual on-line; nothing. I still don't know what the little allen wrench that came with it is for. When I picked up one of the legs it fell apart. There is a press-to-fit collar that holds the screw which allows adjusting the length of the leg. It wasn't actually pressed onto the shaft it was supposed to be attached to. A little brute force (before I attached the leg) solved that one. The real problem, however, came when I managed to assemble it anyway in spite of these minor glitches. Within moments of me setting it up on it's legs, one of the legs fell off. Actually the metal plate into which the leg screwed fell off. Luckily I still had all the packing material because I hadn't actually managed to completely unpack it. I called Musicians Friend. They were very helpful and immediately sent a RMA and a return label. Back it went.Bill, W.
Excellent product, I found it to hold tune and appears fairly sturdy. Strings are adequate for practice will experiment with others later, but not bad. I ran this through my Fender Deluxe reverb and found very little hum. Practically none and this surprised me as it is a single coil pickup. My only grip is the legs, I could not even get them to screw in, but then I didn't plan to use them in the first place, this instrument is best in your lap. The legs will come in handy if there is a noisy cat in the alley, or I need something to sink a boat (they are fairly heavy and seem decent, except, they are impossible to screw into the dang guitar!) Overall I would highly recommend as a first lap steel for sure.Mike
I've played electric/acoustic/bass for over 25 years, but got curious to try a lap steel because I've always loved the sound; I know what a quality instrument should feel like, and this definitely met or exceeded my expectations. I tuned up to C6 easily, and the single-coil pickup gives a nice bright tone that is consistent in volume from string-to-string. I haven't noticed any hum from the pickup at normal practice volume, and no grounding problems. I expect I'll change the strings soon, but that's a personal preference. A few people mentioned tuning problems; the tuners aren't the best, but I'd suggest pulling on each string when you first get it, to get any extra slack out of them. After that, mine holds tune perfectly fine. It packs up really neatly in the included gig bag, which does hold the detachable legs as well. The gig bag doesn't have much padding, but should be perfectly fine for storing the guitar when not in use. If you need to gig with the instrument professionally, I'd suggest getting something more solid, but this is a fantastic option for someone looking to learn on, or for studio use where you're looking for some different tones.Sam A

Reviews:
Having gone back and forth between digital / emulated effects and analog / practical effects, I decided to add a Small Clone to my pedalboard. If I had one complaint about the unit, it would be that it has a switch for two different depth settings instead of an adjustment pot. That said, when I plugged in I found that of the two settings available for depth there is one that suits me just fine. The pedal is very quiet, and does not color my tone in any way. True bypass is always an added benefit. Electro Harmonix builds these pedals to last, and I can’t see myself ever moving to another chorus pedal from this one. I’m in love. Rig – Fender USA strat with EMGs into a Peavey 6505 head / cabinet. The pedal adds great modulation to both clean tones and leads. BUY THIS.Nick in NH
The Small Clone gives an awesome chorus effect to your sound! I always wanted that full warm grunge sound and so I figured why not put that icing on that cake and get the gear the legend himself used. The quality build is crisp, the sound I'm getting is satisfying and the price is pocket/wallet friendly!! I must say that I'm far from disappointment! So, sit down or stand up which ever you prefer and know this is your chance of being that one step closer of making that 90's defining sound!!! A little something extra…. I was thinking of cleaning the pedal off before I took the pic but then I thought to myself …….. WWKCD? If you're reading this review I could pretty much guarantee 99.9% of you know what "WWKCD" stands for. 😉 PLACE THAT ORDER! THANK YOURSELF FOR MAKING SAID ORDER! IT'S GUARANTEED, YOU'LL BE SMILING AND PATTING YOURSELF ON THE BACK BECAUSE OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT AND LET'S BE HONEST HERE, YOU EARNED IT!Brian
As a solo acoustic finger style player, I was looking for a very subtle effect to enhance instrumental parts. I've owned other choruses in the past, and was skeptical at its rather large size and single control knob–and only a depth switch. I was pleasantly surprised. I run depth on high, the control knob on low, and get a nice fat–but subtle-melodic sound from my Martin. I haven't experimented with it much, since I'm so pleased with this setting. Good value, well made-though perhaps rather 20th century style–and USA made. Just what I wanted for a slightly different sound to bounce between my vocal parts and instrumental/lead parts. The foot switch is loud, but not enough to affect my performance. All in all, very pleased.2 birds

Reviews:
First off, I would like to say that I have literally owned and tried every single direct amp/cab sim option on the market, both in a studio situation and a live gig/touring situation that required nightly in ear monitor usage. My one and only quest was to get as close to my tube amps, that I dearly miss being able to use, as possible! I have ditched every single unit after one or two gigs for the same reasons; too digital in response, and they just don’t feel good during a gig (which makes the whole gig a struggle in some aspect), and don’t handle analog pedals well. My search has ended with the Strymon Iridium! I popped this little monster on my pedalboard and off to rehearsals, and sessions I went! I have been able to dial in almost exact responses of a gorgeous fender style clean, and a Marshall style lead tone, in seconds. I also have been able to do my beloved overdrive and fuzz stacking to my hearts content and this little black box handled it with ease and felt realistic while doing it! I will leave with this; if you have been struggling like I have to confirm to the direct trend and need an immediate solution to take you as close as you could possibly get to recreating those killer tube amp tones on a nightly basis, definitely cut your journey down by thousands of dollars and countless irritating hours by just going to purchase the Strymon Iridium first! Thanks Strymon for a tremendously useful, well thought out tool for the gigging musician!!!Ryan Ridgeway
I love this pedal. This is the best sounding amp sim on the market. I'm thinking about buying a second one to have a stereo set-up. The only downside is the power issues. Strangely enough you get a high frequency in the signal with both the adapter and a separate power supply. I even had a complete power lock down in my house, when plugging in the pedal. I just wish you could at least save one preset per amp. You can have two, if you set the control to one amp and save one preset with another amp. But that's it. Or you have to work with midi. But that's part of the concept of this pedal; hands-on and WYSIWYG. No one mentions there's a time lag when switching the pre-set on and off, so you cannot switch between amps mid song. I wonder if one could leave the IR empty, to use this pedal as a pre amp-only before a real amp. Have to try that one! I sometimes find the lay-out confusing; if the drive knob is somewhere around 2 o'clock, I tend to think I can use it to switch the amp type. Every time I use it I experience this two or three times.
A little perspective. I've been playing electric guitar for a little over 20 years. I've never had a good situation for loud tube amps so I've used modelers. The last few years I've used the latest and greatest Helix and Axe Fx offerings which are great in their own right. Endless options. You can get lost with chasing your favorite artist's tone. And I did. But in that process I started to become a tone chaser and not a guitar player. I obsessed over the tone and feel and played less and less. Enter the Iridium. Here's my experience: If you turn the knobs and adjust your tone using you ears not your eyes (what your eyes think a good setting looks like) you will easily find exceptional, inspiring tone. No need for menu diving. No need for settling with a tone that's 95% what you want. If you give it a chance this little box can get your musicianship back. There are wannabe recording engineers out there and for such folks I say go get an axe FX. If you want to grab your guitar and make music from jazz to acdc, the Iridium will get you there. This simple little box has breathed new life into my playing and it can for you too. Highly recommended.

Reviews:
From slight dirt to full on creamy plexi distortion. It’s all there. Cleans up with the guitar volume knob. Pairs well with other exotic effects. I have two SL drives, one for grit and the other set for lead, as well as an exotic AC booster before to add a bit of boost. I run the EP booster at the end for nice volume boost. Synergy with all exotic effects.Charlie
I chose the SL Drive from a huge amount of drives on the market as I wanted something that fit on a small pedalboard, could provide a Marshall style sound at all gain levels as an alternative to amp gain, and which could work well with the BB MB pre-amp also by Xotic. This pedal really delivers. Although it takes time to set up and find the best sounds for personal preference, it provides a variety of useful tones across the spectra of volume, gain, and equalisation. The design is just so thoughtful and I like the possibility of running it at 18v, although at the moment 9v is better to my ears. Recommended as a piece of gear that should fit with most set-ups.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I've had the SL drive for awhile now and try as I might I can't find anything that can kick it off my board. I've tried numerous other amp in a box pedals(Marshall and otherwise),overdrives and distortions but I keep coming back to this little guy. I guess I keep trying because I find it hard to believe that a pedal this small and this inexpensive(relatively) can't be outdone. I use this in conjunction with a standard Tumnus and the 2 together just can't be beat for me and I'm done spending $ trying.mike smith
7. Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal
Product Details:
The gamechanger audio plasma pedal uses a revolutionary method of sound generation; a xenon-filled gas discharge tube is used in this compact effect pedal instead of the usual tubes, diodes or transistors. the guitar signal visibly produces breath-taking flashes of up to 3.5kv power, these are transformed back into an audio signal, so that the guitar amplifier provides rich distortion and fuzz sounds with incredibly rich overtones and lively response. the voltage control determines the voltage of the gas discharge tube and thus the sustain and response of the circuit. the blend potentiometer continuously mixes the clean signal with the effect signal, while the 2-band tone control, consisting of high freq and low freq controls, allows precise tuning of the sound.

Bought this for my wife as a second lap steel. I have bought the Recording King products before. This unit was not set up. The strings were floppy loose, that is okay as I restrung it. While putting new strings on I noticed the tuning machine were loose. All of the screws were stripped out and would not tighten. Started to send it back and decided to repair if and was successful. Best pedal for the price and very happy with everything I can do with this unit!!Joe Westall
I was looking for a good multi-effects pedal option and found this Flamma FM10. It's loaded with a bunch of different amp models and effects. I was able to dial and EQ everything. The expression pedal can also be put to use as a volume pedal, wah, gain control, and several other things. I was able to create several personal patches and have used them all in live settings. They sounded great. Which means a lot coming from me because I am EXTREMELY picky about gear and tone. Other benefits are that it functions as an audio interface, it has stereo outs, a headphone out, and aux in. It fits in a backpack and a gig bag. Depending on where the show is and how a musician needs to get there, this effects unit is going to travel well in all circumstances. Seems like a really great option for any musician (especially traveling musicians) who need a small multi-effects unit. I like it and I'm going to be using this quite often moving forward.Paul

Reviews:
I'm also a dobro player. Had issues with getting the dobro loud enough for church praise band without feedback so I bought the Asher lap steel. Same scale length and string spacing as dobro and came with strings suitable for dobro tuning, Perfect fit. The tone is great with the neck pickup and neck/bridge pickups on but to my ears the bridge pickup alone is very thin and tinny sounding. Quality control issues: First thing I noticed right out of the box was that two of the tuner buttons rattled when I played it. Should be an easy fix by tightening the screws on the tuner buttons but these don't have any at all. Not sure how the buttons actually stay on. Anyway I used a little super glue on the two rattlers and that fixed the problem. I'll probably upgrade the tuners at some point but for $900+ after taxes I shouldn't have to. Also the plate around the output jack was loose and I had to tighten that up. No big deal but still…. Re stringing is a puzzler with the wrap around bridge. On the lower strings the ball end of the string wedges up against the plastic ring around the pickup making them difficult to change. There suggestion is to take the provided allen wrench and rais the bridge to make the strings easier to remove. Really? Raise and lower the bridge everytime you re string? Why not move the bridge pickup 1/8 up away from the bridge? It certainly isn't going to hurt the bridge pickup tone any…. Anyway, it is a good instrument that I plan on keeping forever, just keep in mind that it won't be perfect. Oh, the gig bag is very nice. Sturdy and nicely padded.cb56
Honestly… This instrument is very nice for someone learning to play lap steel. Drop the conservative amount now and as time prevails upgrades can be made to make this guitar road worthy. The tuners are cheap and are not going to withstand someone who is gigging. And of course… The pickups aren't going to give you that HOT sound most desire. These are an easy fix and you will be left with a great steel that will withstand many great performances. I would highly recommend the Junior to anyone that is still developing technique and style. Hope this helps…TOE
good solid feel. Decent tuners well worth. the price paid. I wish it shipped with the hard case…even if it added to the price. Being a dobroplayer, bluegrass style, the feel is very close to the same. this works out well with a gospel group im now helping out. where behind the barn dobro sound just don't fit. my guitar is teamed up with a Fender mustang 3…. man what a pair! 🙂 I am sure this guitar will handle the road just fine! 🙂Jerry Douglas want to be....

Reviews:
When you buy a pedal for 50 bucks it's kind of a roll of the dice, I've bought cheap pedals before and its about a 50/50 chance of getting a good one, not so with the Steel Singer, it's a winner and 50 bucks is a deal. The overdrive sounds range from mildly gritty to heavy grind and everything in between, it's a very versatile pedal and will stay on my pedal board.sliderdawg
A great buy and a fabulous pedal, Thank you Walmart!

Reviews:
This instrument is a great idea, and could have been perfect for standup performances of lap steel parts. The guitar plays well, has good tone and acceptable hardware, but the position of the body cutout is fixed relative to the fretboard. That position makes it impossible to play high on the fretboard using the special strap. A lot of slide work needs to be done above the 15th fret, but this guitar won't allow that comfortably. I'll keep it as a novelty to play the low octave, but the restricted range makes it impractical as a working instrument.Silvertone
This instrument is a good lap steel. Designed to be cheap to make and well made. The electronics are simple but effective. The strap is very cheaply made and is almost impossible to put on and off. It was not comfortable to play standing. It will be a lap steel to me. It came with light strings which buzzed and are clearly the wrong choice for a lap steel. I changed to Martin Resonator strings and it sounded great with no buzzes. The slide bar provided lacks sufficient mass to get good sustain. A standard lap steel bar would be much better. The gig bag is very cheaply made and is to small. The strap button caught the zipper and ripped the bag one of the first times I too k it out. I like the instrument for a lap steel, once I changed the strings. The slide, strap and gig bag leave something to be desired.Chuck
This lap steel is absolutely amazing. I bought this without the slightest clue on how to play it. I do play some slide guitar, but i never fiddled around with open tunings or anything like that. Not only will this instrument improve your all-around musical ability, it also is a bunch of fun. The peavey power slide sounds great and it can be so versital. I can get so many different tone qualities out of it. IT is a great instrument and the Y-shaped strap is a great invention too. I really am happy i bought this. The Lap Steel guitar is a dieing istrument, but Peavey may have saved it.MFZeppelin-PinkFloydiac

Reviews:
I have been a pedal steel player for many years. In my old age, I have become interested in the lap steel. It is a much more complex instrument than I expected. The Gretsch Electromatic is probably the nicest looking steel in it's price range, but there are some problems right out of the box. Keep in mind that I am talking only about my instrument. I cannot speak for others. First, the fretboard is plastic, and held in place with screws. The intonation is off slightly, (which can easily be compensated for by bar adjustment) and the fretboard, not being glued down, was bowed up off the base approx. 1/4 of an inch. This condition was easily taken care of with a little Super Glue. Next, the bridge cover had to be removed in order for me to hand block the strings. The bridge is very simple, but it looks okay, so that's not a big thing. And then there is the issue of the volume and tone knobs being too close to the position my right hand naturally takes when I play. This also interferes with string blocking. I am playing this instrument through a Boss ME-80 and into a Peavey Classic 50 2X12. I am very pleased and surprised at the wide range of sounds this little steel makes. The finish is blemish free and beautiful. It weighs less than I expected, but it stays nicely in place on my lap. All said, I am looking forward to the journey ahead, and learning to play the Lap Steel. The volume and tone both are responsive, and it sounds great. I can live with a few imperfections for what the Electromatic costs. I learned long ago that steak costs more than hamburger. I think it was a good buy.J Lindley
There are a gazillion of these everywhere on line. I bought one long ago for around $299 and that was too much I sent it back. The fret board is the cheapest PVC plastic. The looks is pretty good. That is about it. Five hundred bucks is way out of line. Recording Kings are a better instrument for half the price.wy03bay
It has nice tone with a few limitations. The tuners are very poor quality, it is Chinese made. The bridge is fixed, so there is no chance of fine tuning intonation or string height. If you lay the bar on the strings on the higher registers, the second and third lowest strings don't touch the bar without placing pressure on the bar, adding to the intonation problem. The finish is absolutely beautiful, high gloss and nice color. That being said, it could use moleskin or felt to keep it from sliding around on you lap. I used black adhesive backed felt, worked perfectly.cheswinster
