I bought one of these with the intention of purchasing more for my classroom. Once I figured out how to use it (not hard), I fell in love. The app they recommend isn't the best which made it seem harder to use initially, but there are soooo many other amazing apps that work with it (I prefer the tonebridge app since it models any song effects you can think of and is free and foolproof). Now the device is super easy to use and I love how I can toggle between sending the feed into an amp or exclusively into headphones. This will make my playing tests and recording the students a breeze, not to mention saving everyone's ears while the kids try to work out riffs or chord progressions.Dave

I gave this 4 Stars only because of some difficulty I had in the programming part. In one of the training videos it talks about when your playing the sound drops off as if you’ve got a bad cable or something along those lines. They demonstrate how you need to double tap on the “Input” block on the top left hand side and it opens up a screen that shows what they call a “Global Gate”, and it’s set at about 40db in the video and on the one I had as well. There is a block right above that has a White line to show where it’s set. And when yiu strum a chord with it at this factory setting, it cuts out..Your told to add use the setting to about the middle of the block and this will stop it from cutting out. I did this on my unit however no matter where I put it I was still getting the cut out…it’s very frustrating. I was never able to correct this. Secondly the manual that comes with the unit is very much lacking what I would think are the very basics. I was never able to figure out how to assign the 4 buttons on the bottom. It was confusing, at least to me. I did contact HEADRUSH and was directed to their videos, but once again, the few they have are great at about everything else, but as far as what I was looking for, didn’t help. I am an old school guy from the 70’s and the Marshall, stomp box generation, and being older, yes I know, I so wan this to work, so I can grab this unit and the FRFR speaker cabinet, which is awesome by the way, my guitar and go.. I sent it back and I’m waiting on a replacement unit and I’m going to give it another try……Wish me luck, and yes, I would recommend this to anyone out there. ROCK ON PEOPLE, KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE…!

After having this for a few weeks I have to say that I am fairly disappointed in it, but not enough to return it. The touchscreen is awesome and really is the single best feature this pedal has to offer, and the ease of use and variety of signal chain is great, and these are the reasons that I am keeping it. The amp modeling is okay, certainly miles better than my old GNX2 from the early 2000s, but still miles away from the real thing. For me the real let down was seeing just how limited the number of models is. The listed number of amp models in deceptive in my opinion because there is quite a bit of redundancy. How many different vintage Fender tones do they think we need? The effects also seemed incredibly limited in this price range as well. There are more rotary models than reverb and delay put together,… how does that make any sense? To be fair though the rotary models sound REALLY good compared even to many standalone rotary pedals. Some of the models are really bad too, like the Whammy pedal,… it is practically useless. The spring reverb is horrible as well. Like most multi-effects units it does clean fine, ultra heavy passable, and struggles horribly with anything in between. I hope they come out with some firmware updates that add some more models and effects to the unit soon, but I am not too optimistic. If your main concerns are ease of use, this IS the multi-effects pedal for you, hands down,…. but if sound quality and variety are of greater concern,… keep looking.Livinginthewoods

I own several cigar box guitars – some I built – some I bought – usually fretted four strings that I mando tune. I wanted a three string for slide – I liked that this had a disk with a slide technique lesson. I was more than pleased – as an instrument, it's as good as most any CBG – they are all pretty crude at best. This one was easy to assemble – holds tune – sounds good acoustic or electric. There were some comments on it not using an actual cigar box, but a factory-made stylized resonator box. While this is true, it is at least as good as a cigar box, and I can understand why they broke that way for consistency and ease of build (which as I said, was super easy). Aesthetically, most people would probably prefer a real cigar box, but come on – it's like a uke – cheesy is part of the shtick. The lesson is good – play along CD and a book – comes with a good glass slide. I recommend it – worth the list price – all the better with the discounts.JoeFromSD
This is a great way to learn slide guitar. It is small & easy to learn. The book is full of great info. The CD is great, with back tracks, A tuning track so you do not need to buy a tuner, as long as you have something to play the CD in. It would be a good idea to buy a cheep tuner. As far as the price you just can't beat it. You can buy one for any wear from under $20.00 to $59.95. you just have to look around for a good price. Even at $30.00 to $ 40.00 is well worth it. The sound of the guitar very good and a small amp helps the sound but is not a must. Also you can take this any ware. In all this is a great product and was well thought out. I wanted a three string cigar box guitar and between a black friday discount and backstage pass points, I couldn't pass this up. Some reviewers complain that it's cardboard but domestic cigar boxes are predominantly cardboard. Also, Fender recently built a cardboard Strat that couldn't be told from a "real" Strat in a blind test. Build time was about ten minutes. I ran the strings around the tuners contrary to the directions so the string paths were straight. Sounds great acoustic and also great amplified. The only thing lacking is markers on the side of the neck. Maybe not sturdy enough for roughneck kids but a good introduction to the cigar box genre. Nice slide included.Mike

Recently downsized my Fractal (Axe-fx) live rig into this little unit. I've had it now for about a month and i'm really happy with it. It does everything i hoped it would and the tones i'm able to pull are great. The built in presets are a really great place to start and you can dial in your 'sound' even more with the many effects available. The touchscreen is an awesome feature but i'm really happy with the computer editing capabilities, as that's what i'm used to. The build quality is actually really strong and the built in exp pedal is super solid too. And it's small, like.. smaller than my keyboard! Perfect for carrying around to shows! I was also able to get this really cheap compared to it's competition. There's even an Ampero gig bag that you can purchase separately that is fantastic. Cheers!Barak B.
I have been VERY impressed with the Hotone Ampero so far. I have no idea how they were able to create such an amazing product for such an unbelievable price. It's like a Helix LT shrunken down for about 1/5 of the price and it has the same dual DSP SHARC chips as Helix! The unboxing is similar to an Apple product. Build quality seems very solid. There are tons of AMPS, EFFECTS, and CAB Sims in here! And so far, they all sound great. I've only been through a small % of all this stuff. But I can't wait to see what I can do with it. P.S. I had a great experience with Sam Ash! I was able to negotiate a better deal which made things even better! I usually use mics, but this unit sounds good run directly into the mixing board thanks to the better than average amp/cab emulators. The overdrive/distortion and chorus algorithms are particularly noteworthy, and the reverb and delays are also more than adequate. Definitely one of the best overall multi-effects pedals I've used, especially in a direct to board capacity. This guitar is the perfect size for my 8,7, and 6 year old. Look wise, it doesn't appear to be cheaply made and it doesn't sound like it either. My first impressions were that this isn't really some cheap toy guitar. It is defintely a real guitar but kid sized. The amp is mini but I am still impressed with the sound because I honestly wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it is. This guitar definitely delivered everything that was advertised. My 9 yr old grand daughter has long expressed an interest in learning to play guitar, like Omi does. My electric was a little big for her to deal with, and the acoustic I bought her to learn on was not as exciting, in her eyes. Aesthetically the look is great! It was an instant favorite Christmas gift. Unfortunately shortly after unboxing, we discovered that no power cord was included for the amp. We were able to use one we had lying around the house, but the amp worked for all of 10 minutes and then never worked again. For many years, I've heard how great the Kemper is, but the price was a bit daunting. So, I went through different rigs, looking for specific tones. When I needed a different tone, I needed to change my rig. So, I decided to try the modeling rigs. The problem with the modeling rigs is that they are software representations of how the developers/programmers "think" the amp is going to react. For the most part, they do a pretty good job. The downside is that when the modeler gets older, and the development stops, you no longer have any updates, or any new amp models. This is NOT the case with the Kemper. The Kemper is not a modeler, it's a profiler. You profile an amp, and you have the sound in your Kemper. The sound is generated from the Kemper's profiling, which means that it is NOT guitar specific. It comes with a ton of built in effects, so that you can get any sound you are looking for. You basically have a unit that is "future-proof". If an amp comes out in a couple of years, you can profile that amp, and have it in your arsenal. If you think about it, it's pretty much the cheapest amp head on the market, because it's essentially EVERY head on the market. The 3rd party vendors, selling profiles is amazing. You can find any amp that you could ever want. This is the best choice I've ever made. The sound quality blows away anything I have played through before. Simply amazing. I played with a $3k pedalboard and a $1200 amp that equaled about 120 lbs of gear. Now I play with $900 worth of pedals (the remote, mission pedal, and a wireless), a $1800 amp at about 35 lbs. The difference now, besides the $$$ saved and weight, is the tone has way more versatility. I am able to play profiles of amps that are worth way more than the kemper and switch guitars without having to tweak much. Its a stellar piece of gear out of the box. I play semi-professional. Recently purchased the Kemper after owning the Axe Fx basic model. Although there are a lot of features the layout is so simple and intuitive that I was able to make adjustments, firmware updates and amp favorites sections in seconds. literally that easy. These types of steps were much more cumbersome if not downright difficult with the Axe Fx. On to the Amp Profiles- well they're not models- each title feels like a breathing reacting amplifier- you literally get 300 to play with right out of the box- but to my amazement, I downloaded the rig manager and was able load into my Kemper another 15 dream amps that the kemper community had posted. By the way, this was 15 out of over 5,500 other amp choices to load! The tones I was able to create in a very short time had me shaking my head. Each amp can be tweaked and the range of tone is amazing. I was able to adjust any amp to a point where i was capturing a great sound and then of course could save that snapshot immediately. I feel that the technology in the Kemper finally has captured what many others have attempted in the amp modeling field. The Kemper is in a class of it's own. What a brilliant guitar and superb value package! I have owned ‘real’ Gibsons over the years and bought this outfit as a birthday gift for my granddaughter who is learning to play. She has had a fender acoustic for a couple of years and now wants her own electric guitar. I chose this outfit as having previously owned one in the past I like Epiphone guitars. Before giving it to her I thought it best to check it over and set it up but there was nothing to do really, after tuning this guitar was perfectly playable right out the box! The feel, balance and weight is very like my Gibson and the sound is superb. The amp is excellent and packs enough punch to put a smile on your face too. My original review still stands, but I made cosmetic-only upgrades for less than an average couple's meal at a casual restaurant that makes this look much, much more expensive. No tuner, pickup or pot swaps. Replaced black plastic parts with cream, added cream pickguard, replaced chrome tuner knobs with Klausen-style ivory-look knobs. Installed chrome pickup covers. Replaced speed knobs with gold top-hats.Easily done to make this look like a proper Les Paul. I'm happy with the looks for the little extra money spent.Steve
As the song says: "I'm a Sucker for a Cheap Guitar". I own over 30 – some cheap, some not so cheap. This one arrived perfectly set up: low action, no buzzing, no sharp fret edges, easy to play – amazing for a guitar in this price range. Although not great, the pickups even sounded acceptable. It's heavy, which to me means good, though not as heavy as my Gibson. It's OK-looking, but needed something to enhance it – a pickguard. I added one and it looks much better – more expensive. Instead of cutting off part of the guard to accommodate the knob as I've seen some others do, I drilled a hole big enough for the nut on the body underneath the knob to fit through the guard (see photos). Since the guard isn't much thicker than the nut, it allowed the guard to fit flush with the body and the knob to turn without any restriction of motion, and the pickguard is not butchered. It's a very clean look – like it came that way – not modified. So, I am pleased with this instrument, and would recommend it to anyone for any purpose: especially beginners to play or someone like me who just collects cheap guitars to hang on the wall of their studiio.Steve

I bought this for my son, who is a guitar newbie. He travels a lot for work, so I bought him the jamstik+ to bring with him and practice. All I have to say is wow! I am so impressed. It is so easy to use, and connects seamlessly to his phone or iPad. The note transmission from the jamstik+ to my Iphone or tablet is instantaneous. He is a big fan of the guitar learning app called Yousician. So he connects the jamstik to my phone. That way, the phone can play the notes he plays and he can see where his fingers are on the frets, meanwhile his iPad runs the yousician app and he can play along with the lessons since he can hear the notes that are coming out of his iPhone. It works exactly like it says it should. I know that's hard to believe. It feels good in your hands and it plays like a real guitar. It's perfect for travel, or as I do, play at work. The guitar itself is quite nicely built, but the app, which is supposed to help your kids learn the chords etc. is demoralizingly bad. It's hard to explain to a 5 year old why, after following the daily items (tune your guitar, practice some chords etc.) they don't get the points for completion. As a software engineer, I fail to see why it's okay to leave this basic functionality broken. Furthermore, the app appears to be abandonware. I see no updates or fixes. The 'Games' section has been 'coming soon' for months. The app should be removed from the site as a selling point, since it is basically broken. Just be aware when you buy this guitar, the app is not going to work.Ben
My 6 year old really loves the thing. She strums it and goes to it often without prompt. She can’t really get her fingers down onto the fretboard to play a chord, but she knows that those cards are instructions. She carries them around and tries playing them with the guitar on a flat surface. She also still doesn’t have a great sense of the guitar as an instrument, that’s to be taken care of, and not banged around like a toy. I think by the time she’s 8, this thing will be perfect for her. If you guys made something a little more towards the toddler end of the spectrum, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. I understand and greatly appreciate that you’ve scaled down a real electric guitar. Phenomenal concept. Greatly happy with it. If there was something a little more durable, and a little easier for little fingers to hold the notes, I’d pick that up for sure. Great idea, great product, pretty nice app.James C.
Bought a Loog mini for my 9y old. He seems to like Guitar and I can play a bit , but whenever we tried on my Ovation he got very frustrated. Heard about the Loog 3 string and it made sense to me. Well my some loves it!! He’s learned the basic chords now because hit little hand can actually get around the fret board and he is so excited! The Joyo Cab Box has to be one of the best value cab IR loaders available, especially considering it's features. Not only has it got a good range of pre-loaded IR's, it also allows you to load up to 10 more of your own IR choices. It also has 128 patches you can edit and create to your hearts content. When combined with the built in pre-amp, microphone and EQ sections that you can also edit extensively, if you can't come up with the sound you are after, I would be astonished. Spoiled for choice really. Additionally it has a good range of I/O's including MIDI, USB and XLR, plus standard 1/4 inch. Only potential negatives from my point of view would be that you cannot use the inbuilt Microphone choices and related settings with the 10 IR's you can self load. Having said that, if you are already happy with the sound of the IR's you are loading, you probably don't need to edit them further in any case I guess. So this is not a deal breaker. Some people may also prefer stereo I/O's. This unit is just mono, but that is fairly common across many cab emulators and mono works fine for me. Personal preference really, but if you use the unit with a modeller such as the Line 6 Pod HD Pro etc., you can use your effect loop to slot the Joyo in before a stereo effect such as reverb splits thesignal anyway. So not a big issue I'd say, but depends what you are trying to achieve. I have been with Line 6 for many years. My very first amp from Line 6 was a Line 6 AXSYS 212. I also have the POD 20, POD XT Live, POD HD 500, the Spider 3-120, the Spider 4-150, and the practice amp 15 watts. While on tour I used the Flextone 3-2×12 amp. THE REVIEW: First and foremost tone and sound are most important to me. The models are definitely rich and pure in tone. The well thought out connectivity and the ability to maneuver the effects chain in any order that I desire is a plus and the ability to have unlimited effects in a chain is superb! I like the touch sensitivity to the switches that allows access to parameters for on the fly editing. Additionally, there is better processing with all of the effects. The headphone volume is a great option that adds to this already exceptional unit. Also, the stomp box mode allows the Helix to be used as a peddle board rig. Thumbs up for the large screen display and the scribble strips. Last but not least, the unit is very sturdy which makes it easy to travel with. There are so many BELLS & WHISTLES included in the Helix unit that it's too much to put into one review. So with that being said, I am COMPLETELY satisfied with my Helix!

Since 3.0, the Helix is a complete package as far as guitar processors go: you have all different amps, cabs, effects, acoustic sim, synths, polyphonic transposition, harmonization, oversampling. Lots of in/outs, lots of ways to route it. The workflow is great: you have the computer editor. You can back up/restore your Helix, email the backup to yourself, etc. The Helix can absolutely replace your entire signal chain and be used as the only piece of gear to process your guitar sounds. The same could not be said about the Helix when it was on earlier firmware versions. Now, the Helix itself is very cheaply made. I thought I'd purchase one and never need to use anything ever again– wrong! After about a year of light use, the buttons stopped working reliably, then an LED stopped working. Helix is assembled using cheap Chinese parts that are tiny! For example, the footswitches are not what they appear to be–there are tiny tactile microswitches underneath. The Helix will not withstand nonstop gigging for more than a year, unless it's regularly serviced/cleaned, etc. It's a real shame because it can sound great, but something is always failing, or about to fail.Dimitri
Overall: I just received the Helix Rack yesterday so I only have a few hours in the drivers seat but that's enough to learn how truly awesome this thing is. I've owned a lot of Line 6 products over the last 20 years, in fact I still have a spider V240 and a POD HD Pro X but the Helix is so far out of their league they will probably never get used again in my studio. The design is sleek, easy to navigate, user friendly and just all around beautifully designed. The large full color screen is not only eye catching but makes navigating the menus effortless. Even though I'm modeler savvy, I've had no previous experience with Impulse Responses, in fact, I hadn't even heard of them until I started researching the Helix Rack and quite honestly I didn't think that I would care to use them… Well… I was wrong. It's amazing what these things do for the quality and authenticity of my tones when recording. As I mentioned earlier I only have 2 days under my belt at this point but most of that has been recording scratch tracks just to hear the result of these I.R's. I also love the fact that Line 6 still adds all of the necessary physical knobs and controls to their equipment in the days of everything being digital. The idea that I can play almost uninterrupted while tweaking many different parameters on the unit itself without a pedal is always a selling point for me. Not taking anything away from the foot controller but when I'm seated in front of my rack, using my hands to adjust the unit itself is just somewhat more convenient at times. Next, the user space… I thought that my POD HD Pro X had a lot of space for user presets but It has nothing on the Helix. I will probably never fill all of the user List's or even come close to it but It's always better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it. Also, let me jump back to the large screen again, I have a laptop on which I keep all of my editing software for my studio equipment. I always plug in my Spider V240 and POD and use the Spider V Remote and POD HD Pro X edit software respectfully because in most cases sitting behind my recording console and tweaking my sound is just much easier to do with the computer apps than the equipment. The Helix is the first and only piece of equipment I've owned where the display is laid out and organized in a way that is very similar to a computer or tablet app and so even though I have the Helix Edit app running on my computer right next to me, making adjustments on the front of the Helix Rack in many cases is actually easier and faster than grabbing a mouse and using the comp app. I could write much more describing my total satisfaction thus far but I will wait 'till I have used it for another month or so and update my review at that time. Very easy to use and built like a tank. I had to watch a few demo videos to learn how the controls worked and interacted but it didn't take but a few minutes. Playback quality is very good with tons of storage for created loops. My only issue is with what Boss calls "Drum Tracks". There's only 10 of them and their sound quality is piercing. You can load your own via the usb connection though. Also, it only stores wav files from external sources so converting songs you only have as mp3 etc. to wav is an extra step I could do without. I might just be nitpicking because otherwise it's a great looper with more features than most people will ever need. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.ethan1957
I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. Its not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, its a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, its 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one.jonaha650
Have been nothing but pleased with the Boss RC-1 loop pedal. I currently use it in conjunction with my Digitech RP1000 and it has really allowed me creative freedom while practicing. I bought this since the RP1000 only has a 20 second looping feature, while this one can go as long as I need. I like how you can easily layer riffs on top of one another, delete when you make mistakes, and stop altogether with just the stomp of the pedal. It's amazing. Nothing else to say. Overall: I've been playing through a Headrush gigboard and needed something different that was just as easy to use, had plenty of tones that were inspiring, that didn't cost as much. I've owned a few Line 6 products over the 30 years of playing music and decided to buy the Pod Go. So worth it! The tones were better than expected, and if you can't afford the Helix series, this is the best choice for a floor unit under $500. The built in expression pedal with toe switch is perfect. You can switch between volume and wah wah or other parameters just by pressing the toe switch in the expression pedal. Basically you don't have to have another expression pedal. The built in pedal can do what you need. I am not tech savvy, I bought the Headrush gigboard last year because of how easy it is to use. I didn't think a floor unit could be. Then comes the Pod Go. It's actually much easier to use than the Headrush. Granted the two have different features but I found making your own sounds easier with the Pod Go. It seems I make them in a shorter time. The color display along with color footswitches make organizing sounds easier than making coffee. If you need a floor unit under 500 the Pod Go is the best choice on the market. If you're a metal head or a traditional Jazz player or love the complexity of Fusion, the Pod Go has your sound.
I was looking at purchasing a Helix LT and upon researching I came across the Pod Go Wireless. It does everything I required from the Helix but at less than half the price, size and weight. You can dial in some great tones, I use it through an 80w Marshall combi straight into the FX return (turning off the cab sim on the Pod) and it sounds very impressive. The amount of effects to choose from is incredible and you can tweak so many variables to get that perfect tone. The wah treadle is very good but it’s not so great when used as a volume pedal as it doesn’t seem to gradually increase/decrease the volume, it’s almost on/off. The wireless feature is very good, I’ve not had any connection issues and don’t have to worry about treading on my cable, which I’m very prone to. Overall, for what I need in a jamming/garage band capacity it is perfect and I’m very, very pleased with the purchase. PMT delivered the next day, it was very well packaged and was the best price I found on the internet.Martin M.
Overall: I wish I could say something positive about this unit. Although it does have some great sounds and features, the fact that it is constantly having to be rebooted because it freezes up or shuts down on its own make it pretty much worthless (Yes I’ve done all the updates and other futile suggestions from the support folks at line 6). Add to that a power supply that is a complete piece of crap. It’s cheap, fragile and generally a bad design. It is almost impossible to find a replacement because line 6 wanted it that way. Simply using a Standard, generic replacement (9v 2500 mA) Is tricky and not guaranteed to work. My review for this product: Look for something else better from a company who is not obsessed with nickel and diming their customers to death over some ridiculous accessory.

I have wanted a Rhoads for a long time. I wanted that 80's hard rock guitar. This guitar did not disappoint me at all. The pickups are extremely high output very cutting edge. The guitar came close to perfect set up right out of the box. I made very little adjustments to get it just right for me. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the guitar sounded clean as well. I don't use the trem much but it stays in tune very well. When I grab it out of its case its in tune. It is a joy to play sounds and looks amazing. If you were worried about the quality don't be this guitar plays as well as any guitar I own. And without getting into it I own some expensive guitars.
2 disclaimers: I got this 5 days ago. I've had an Jackson RR tattoo for years. She's a looker… never thought I'd get a purple guitar but the purple quilt w/ gold hardware and white binding is gorgeous and I love how the reverse headstock has the color and quilting too. It plays fast as F. You'll wanna shred on it. It makes me wanna play Crazy Train, Holy Wars and the like but it may make you wanna play stuff that's way above my skill level and you can! Never had a Floyd Rose before but tuning it up wasn't too bad out the box (and it's super fun!); we'll see what happens when a string snaps. The frets and unlacquered back are smooth so it's easy to do fun slides and bendy things! The sustain is pretty good thanks to the mahogany body and the thru neck and it just feels solid. I've read this is heavy compared to other V's but it's the lightest of my 3 electrics and it feels quality and well balanced – there's no neck dive. I love that it comes installed with Dunlop button strap locks which I've had to purchase & install previously on my other 2 electrics. The pickups sound great with distortion and I haven't/am never going to play this w/o distortion so who cares about clean but I will say comparatively it doesn't sound as good as the EMG's on my EC-1000. There are some QC issues: There's fret buzz on the low E, some purple paint smudges on a small part of the white binding and the blending of the paint in some areas (which you generally never look at) could be better. I didn't have any of these issues on my (similarly priced) LTD EC-1000 and (my much cheaper) Ibanez AR-325 so these are pretty disappointing. Bottom line: I haven't put it down yet. It's fun to play and my other guitars currently feel unloved. If you like metal or you've always wanted a V this shape you should get it. I'm going 4/5 stars for the QC issues which are super disappointing but well reported on Indonesian Jacksons. Let's be honest – this purchase is mostly about speed and style. Paint job is just ok, but not great. It has a cheap quality to it, but looks good from a little distance. Matte is a hard paint job to be fair, and this is entry level, but still, this is a review. Pickup colors don't match at all. I bought black plastic pickup covers, which made it look a lot better fairly affordably. The plastics of the backplate, the humbucker rings, and the pick guard are super cheap and kinda bent, maybe from heat? Once again, entry level, but still, I've bought guitars at this price point without these kinds of issues. The Jackson version of Floyd Rose seems pretty ok considering. I've never had a Floyd rose that stayed in tune for very long, so this seems to be about right. The pickups sound very aggressive and bright, which was surprising. There is a loose wire that I had to tape down because of it hits the right spot, it cuts off the pickups (maybe a ground wire? Everything works still) The high string is a little too close to the edge of the edge of the neck for my liking, but I think that's just a personal preference. The body and neck seem solid, the neck is left unfinished, which I usually prefer, though this neck is like completely unfinished, so I'll probably need to get some sort of wood treatment for it. The fret inlays are great at this price point (not dots) and the frets don't have any burrs, which is a good thing for your fingers. The outline of the neck in white is also a classy touch, and the headstock is beautiful. Overall, it's an ok guitar. I would maybe get a different finish, and wouldn't expect it to be the greatest guitar ever, but it has a personality to it and is still a Randy Rhodes. Plays fairly well, definitely shredable. Accessing the 24th fret is a little bit of a reach, but that's ok. If I were Jackson (fender), I'd raise the price $20 and put decent plastics on it because it really does cheapen the guitar overall. Fantastic! If you already have an amp you love, the HX Effects is a great companion. I upgraded from a Line 6 M9 to the HX Effects, and was able to get rid of some of my auxiliary pedals in the process. My pedalboard now consists of the HX Effects, an expression pedal, and the channel switch footpedal for my amp (Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36). I'm running it into the amp via the four cable method, and it sounds great. The vast majority of the effects sound very natural and analog-ish, even the drive effects. There's no amp/cabinet modeling, but Line 6 offers other options with amp modeling if that's where your interests lie. Most of the built-in scenes aren't particularly useful – they mostly serve to illustrate what the HX Effects is capable of. But it's easy to start from scratch and quickly get to some nice workable tones. Then you can tweak to your heart's content. The HX Edit software is very useful – while you can edit your patches on the device itself, being able to do so on your computer and have them updated on the device in real time is convenient. The only area that might be a bit lacking is the reverb patches. Most are carryovers from the M9 – which are fine – but if this is an area that's important to you, you'll probably want to stick with a separate reverb unit. Overall though, it's a whole lot of options in an attractive package that sounds great.Lane Denson
I have a Helix that I've been using for a couple years now, but I don't think that the amp models feel "tubey" enough to my hands on the guitar (though they sound just fine, and my audiences say they love the sound of them), so to make myself happy, I had the Helix configured in 4 cable method, with some Helix effects, thru 2 Mesa preamps in one of the FX Loops, then stereo effects (delay, etc) then out to a Mesa 2:90 power amp and speakers. Realizing that I'm not using the amp models, I bought two HX Effects units, one for before the preamps and one for after, saved myself some weight, and gained 4 effects stomp buttons and one more expression pedal jack! (and, if HX Effects had been available when I bought the Helix early on, I could have saved hundreds of dollars to boot) One of my biggest peeves with the Helix was that you can put maybe 30 effects into your signal chain, but then you only have 8 stomp buttons (configurable to 10 if you don't need bank up/down) to access them without constantly switching presets or snapshots. with two HX effects, you get 12 buttons and 4 expression pedal jacks. AND the expression pedals don't need switches (heel position automatically switches them off) which is something I really love. I'm not aware of the Helix doing this, but I'll look into it. I use an outboard switchless Morley wah pedal (thru another FX loop) because I prefer switchless wah for what I do with it, then I have a couple expression pedals for Helix volume and pitch-shift (whammy pedal). Last weekend, I did a festival gig debuting the HX Effects pair vs the whole Helix, and my 10+ year old faithful Morley wah failed on me during soundcheck! Well, with a few easy button presses, I simply changed the whammy pedal into a Crybaby Wah and the gig was saved! Technically, I could have just as easily done the exact same thing with the Helix, but in either case, a life saver. Who brings a backup wah to a gig? I love the thrill of finding a new overdrive, or swimming in a new reverb pedal, I love gear just as much as the next guy, and don’t get me started about the rush you get when you discover a new piece a gear that no else has! But let also be a honest, gear is EXPENSIVE, and if you are anything like me you may have a spouse who doesn’t look kindly upon the purchase of a new Pedal, plus I have run out of excuses as to why I need a new pedal! Upgraded to this unit from a Pod XT Pro rack. This unit not only has amazing and better sounds but more flexible options and a wider array of effects and amps. Pros: -Sound is stunning. I've not done a side-by-side with a real amp mic'ed with a specific mic in a certain position, but it's utterly convincing to my ears. -Blocks can be re-ordered without restriction. For example, want to daisy chain two amps to get that "you really got me" sound? You can do it and it actually works. -Multiple outs and routing -Flexible pedal assignments. You can connect up another two external footswitches (or exp pedals) and assign to any block. OR, you can assign more than one block to a single pedal (so you could activate a tube screamer, digital delay, and anything else with a single press ready for your solo). OR, you can just use a snapshot and change dozens of parameters with a single press. No more "dancing" around the pedal board, hitting the wrong pedals in the process, looking like an utter berk etc. -Preset sounds with flexible ways to work through them. At a gig I don't have time to change an abundance of settings so have a preset for each song. Sound completely changed in half a second. Next song started without hesitation. -All functions of the unit look like they can be configured through the front panel without having to use the Windows or MAC editor. Cons -Terrible, terrible power supply brick. I can't believe Line 6 sell it like this. They even know it's rubbish – the manual says something to the effect of: "we know the power supply is big but it needs to be special to give you enough juice". Big is not the problem – being stuck upwards in the air from your mains socket standing proud like, er, ahem, well something unmentionable is the problem. Plus when you try to unplug it, the power supply comes in half leaving a little bit left in the mains socket. Which will inevitably get left at a gig. Can't wait for that to happen. -limited number of presets. I need a preset for each of 60 songs. I keep a copy of each preset as a master then duplicate them in the order of the night's set list into other presets – so with that I need at least 120 presets, allowing myself one or two to fiddle with. If I recall correctly this has around 126. Best not learn three more songs that need a different sound each. -It's a little difficult to program the thing – the button layout is confusing and unintuitive compared to the Pod XT pro I have just replaced. I can make the trade-off for the sound but this would not work for many I suspect. -Windows or MAC editor – really? Where do I set that up then? Ah yes I just need a $1000 laptop or a chuffing great desktop unit and monitor to hand. I want to spend my money on guitar gear, thanks! Some other vendors have bluetooth and android apps, line 6 for a change is behind the curve. Two final points. 1) If you need something easier to use buy something with more buttons, knobs and pedal switches. 2) If you really like a particular sound, go out and buy the real amp / effect. You just can't beat the real thing. But this gets very, very close, and of course you have several hundred "things" to choose from with no crackles, no mic stand to get kicked, etc etc.
Purchased as a desktop amp to replace a Kemper head and footswitch, primarily for desktop and recording purposes. The unit is very solidly made and takes up next to no space. Although there are limited knobs on the unit itself, the Windows HX Edit software is excellent and makes it super easy to configure presets. Whilst the HX Stomp's effects blocks are very limited compared with the full size Helix, if you typically use a straightforward setup with, say 3-4 pedals, an amp, a cab/IR I don't see why this tiny device couldn't replace an entire rig. One minus point is that the external PSU has poorly designed plastic adapters for different plug types (UK/Euro etc) which disconnect from the PSU far too easily. First time I took mine out the house I unplugged it and didn't realise the adapter had remained in the socket. I had to buy a US to UK adapter. Something to be aware of if you plan on taking this on the road. Also bear in mind that at the time of writing it's not possible to share presets between Stomp and the larger Helix units.
Where do I begin? What a fantastic unit. I've played it both through a tube, stereo 4×12 rig and an FRFR and it sounds incredible through both. The delays, the mods, the tube amps, the pedals the IR options. The most exciting thing about this is the sound! The Helix class software lets me play like me and sound like me. However, another fantastic feature is the edit-ability, and that you get Helix Native for 99 bucks that loads in full Helix profiles with tons of presets. I love loading the profiles into Native and scaling them down for Stomp XL. Another is the portability. I can tote this thing around everywhere and not even feel the pain of dragging around heavy processing gear. I haven't had it long and am just digging in, but i can tell you, it gets more and more exciting what the Helix class software/ HX Stomp can do the further I go. Seamless computer to unit edits and updates are easy. Get it…get it now. You wont regret it. Five stars in every category.Bobby O'Dell

First a much deserved word about Musicians Friend. Having made numerous purchases in the past year (5 guitars, two amplifiers & two sets of powered monitor speakers) hats off to Musicians Friend. They are professional, courteous and a pleasure to purchase from. They truly have treated me like a friend over the last decade and a half. My guitar arrived in pristine shape, no issues, of course. For me this is a beast of a guitar and cannot be beat, not even close, at this price range, nothing I've played compares. Love the sculptured maple top and head to toe creamy binding, simply beautiful. The setup was very good, slight string height adjustment, neck did not need adjustment and pickup height was good. Someone is paying attention with quality control. The neck is fast, silky smooth and easy to navigate, I can accomplish sweep picking with this guitar. Coil split is always nice with humbuckers adding to the available tone palate. Everything works and works well. Check it out if in the market for a very nice modestly priced guitar. Totally stoked on this purchase. I was looking for something solid with an inexpensive price point and came across this Schecter. I've never owned a Schecter before so I was unfamiliar with them but they put some serious quality into this instrument. Feels good in my hands and plays really fast and it looks fantastic. I do recommend upgrading the pickupups but if you're just looking to play around the house with this, it's set up and ready to go. Highly recommendableSmooks
I understand why people call this a beginers guitar. Some the components are cheap and the guitar felt unfinishhed. I own 8 guitars. All of them are higher end Made in America guitars. This guitar caught my eye solely because of looks. I decided to purchase it as a project guitar. After receiving the guitar it needed to be properly set up. I straightened the neck, leveled and radiused the fret board, re-crownded the frets, filed the fret ends and rolled the edge on the neck binding. I proceded to replace the bridge with a Graph-Tech Resomax NV2, and the tuners with Schaller M6 ones. I replaced the tone capacitor with an Orange Drop NOS .027 UF. The pickups are versatile and offer a wide variety of sound. I now have a guitar that has a fast articulate neck and fret board, great tone and sustain all for $160.00 in parts and my labor. This is no longer a " beginers guitar" . The guitar has great bones and was easy to convert to a guitar that you would pay over $1000.00 dollars for. Good job Schecter!Hodigity

Sturdy unit full of good quality effects. This is the first "cheap" unit that has impressed me with its pre amps. It even manages a passable vox sound that others at this price point fail to achieve. My favourite things about this unit are as follows : 1. The amount of usable presets out the box. Even the more whacky ones can generally be quickly tweaked into something usable. Other brands tend to fill their presets with ridiculous over the top high gain, and what I would call low budget sci-fi sound effects. Boss have done a good job with the GT1. 2. Ease of editing. While you can access the effects chain easily through the menu system, the buttons along the top physically represent a typical effects chain. Press and hold for a second on any one and you are straight into the effect behind it for easy editing or changing to a different effect. Negatives: lack of an on/off switch. It switches on by plugging in an instrument cable – minor annoyance but that's just me. Only other thing is no battery indicator, and I seriously doubt the 7hr battery life claim. The supplied ones died after about 2-3 hrs and the duracells I replaced them with haven't fared much better. I do have a power supply but wanted to see how the battery's would hold up if I had to do a gig on them. Probably wouldn't trust them and would carry two sets as backup rather than one.David B.
This is overall a great pedal. This will give you a wide variety of tones and effects that you can personalize for whatever music you play. Other pedals will offer maybe one tone and you may have to try different ones and might not be happy with them or have to buy multiple ones and spend lots of money to have a well set up pedal board. You can literally spend all day picking out distortion pedals and feel lost on where to go. With this you can go through a wide variety and set it up however you want and save the settings. This isn't some plug and play kinda pedal. You will need to spend time with it and get to know it. It is kinda confusing and there are YouTube videos that help as well. I got more e set up with a clean tone and then a click over to distortion and and anther click on and of for a wha effectErik
The sounds are decent for the price. I downloaded all three pdfs are they are basically useless when it comes to setting up patches, adding an external pedal and the overall operation. I gave up on trying to assign functions to the FS-6 I bought with it. There are no real explications how to use the 6 assignment functions. I think the headphone output is mono as I can only hear in one ear. You can get some decent patches off of tone exchange I'll probably sell it .Kenneth
