Bought this as my first tuner as I had just begun guitar. Purchased this one because it was on sale, cheap, and appeared to do its job but I could not find many reviews so I just decided to hope for the best and get it. Although it isn't the top of the market tuner, it does its job. The LED screen display (or whatever it is) is somewhat dim, so you have to make sure angle the tuner toward you which really isn't a problem because it's on a ball joint that allows it to face wherever. Allows you to change Hz to tune to 432, and has modes for guitar and various other stringed instruments. Only complaint is that it uses the weird disc batteries nobody ever has at their house and the tuner eats up the battery fairly quickly. The tuner comes with one of these batteries already in the package, just something to note if you ever get the tuner.
Bought this on a whim while browsing GC – just to try out something other than Snark. The basic tuning function is fine – but the overall experience is bad. First, the button you use to turn it off and on is also the mode button. Since I'm used to Snarks, I'm constantly accidentally changing it out of guitar mode when I mean to turn it off. Second, its much harder to twist and orient the screen to the proper viewing angle. And third – this is is the killer – the screen is impossible to read unless its facing directly at you. *sigh* back to Snarks I guess.LightninBoy
First the negative: I would have given it 5 stars if there had been any manual included either online or with the product, so customers support I give 1 star and product quality I give 5 stars. I had to google a review to actually know how to use it. Now onto more positive things… The screen is big and bright and easy to read (good for aging eyes like mine). It clips on well and you can pretty much move the display any way you need to. With no manual you have to figure it out on your own, but once you do it is easy to operate. One big tip I can give you…, forget the other instrument modes and just set it to chromatic. The 'Instrument' modes (guitar, violin, bass, Uke, etc) are pretty dicey and don't work well if you are very far off your pitch, but the chromatic mode is spot on for everything (I tuned my dulcimer, guitar, 12 string, violin all with it no problem). The guitar mode did not know what to do with my 12 string, but chromatic mode worked well. Hope this helps!Keith

I've had mine now for the better part of a year, countless rehearsals and a growing list of gigs. It does everything all the previous reviews have already documented. But I'll add something not yet mentioned… mine was producing very noticeably weird two tone sounds when I had it plugged into the power supply box on my pedalboard, I've heard they draw a lot of power so I instead routed with a Trutone 1 Spot AC adapter to the AC power strip also affixed to my board (see photo) and that seems to have resolved the problem. Hope this helps anyone having that same issue. I like this pedal a lot… it is a very useful tool to have, from practicing and learning songs, to rehearsals and gigs too.
Preface, I use this with an acoustic violin fitted with a BTS pickup (dual piezos/string), OR with a Greek steel stringed laouto to immediately change from standard tuning to a 5th lower (Cretan, Southern Aegean tuning). Pros – This is a mentality saver. You can be a fantastic musician, able to transpose well, yet regardless of the instrument you are using, and still get a little tripped up when you need to switch course and play in some oddball key. Voila! Drop! I learned about this pedal from a class A1 violin player from Greece (composer, lyricist and recording artist who has recorded with just about every big name- this person is no joke, message me for his name if interested). This person can transpose to any weird key you throw at him, why use it? His response? "Because when I'm on stage and I need to switch quickly to an odd key, I can simply hit the button and not have to think about it". So I gave it a try, and have been using it for 2 years now… it's a life saver. I'm just a fiddler, but this saves me from stressing out and I can play free and it sounds GREAT. It tracks so well I can't tell if there is any latency at all. Cons- With my current setup, I find that I need to either play in front of a monitor or near a speaker or use IEM's, as when playing through the pedal with an acoustic instrument, obviously you are going to hear the natural AND the modified sounds and you ARE going to think it sounds like garbage, then attempt to junk it. DONT DO IT! Unless your pedal is defective, your sound from the speakers is clean. This pedal is meant to be used with mainly electric instruments. During sound check, as loud as you can be, you'll still hear the acoustic sound of your instrument, yet once you are playing with the full band (depending on what your band consists of), it will eventually drown out the sound, and you'll be able to focus on your modified tone, but this is not consistent. Just be aware. If you can, I suggest using some sort of IEM system, wired or wireless, or a monitor. My next step is getting an electric violin body to use this tool even more effectively, but moreso in order to truly utilize my pickup. In a nutshell: Do it!pazarinyc
Sound: Unbelievable how well this pedal track's notes and cords with no noticable latency, IMO it sounds better than tuning down. Features: It's a tank ! Quality: As mentioned , it's a tank , solid construction. Value: I hesitated on this purchase because of the price for a one trick pedal , Worth every penny ! I purchased this a few weeks ago and I used it every day. I think it is ok. It gets the job done and is light. It does feel cheap and you will notice rattling especially when you tune the guitar. The note detection doesn't jump around like on the korg pitchclip 2 so that's a plus. It is also rechargeable and comes with a cable. I think it would be a decent backup in case your tuner breaks or forget to the battery. I charged it to full on the first day I got it and it still has 2/3 bars of power left. I would look at other options however.Lewis A
Great product which has several features. Good size and fully adjustable, so can clip on to your instrument – guitar, ukulele or violin. All is great except for one thing. The tuner has multiple modes (guitar, bass, etc.) which is great.But after use I'd like to be able to turn the tuner off immediately. But when you touch the power button, it simply switches modes. To turn it off you have to hold down the power button a few moments to turn it off (instead of just switching modes). I'd like an "instant off" button.Sherman

Appetite For Destruction – IMP publication version. For years I was frustrated that I couldn't figure out the guitar parts AND find my way around the chord variations. The tab websites I visited just confused me even more and supposed I had 3 hands. Spoiler alert.. Spoiler alert… Lower your guitar by 1 semitone (Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb) For every track. The desirable features of the GT-CTN tuner are its relatively unobtrusive size, sturdy construction, a display which can be rotated 360 degrees and tilted more than 90 degrees, very legible display characters, and a great price. However, the first unit which I purchased had a nearly imperceptible white display until it detected a tone which was nearly on pitch, at which point the white lettering became visible on a green background. Though that first unit was hardly usable, the Parts Express Technical Support Team promptly sent me a replacement unit. After carefully testing the unit on multiple guitars, I note that it gives a very clear display while tuning toward the target note and then displays very clearly and accurately against a green background when proper pitch is reached. While the unit performed well on my Martin D-28, its clamp jaws did not open wide enough to make the best fit on my Godin Multiac Nylon SA. The unit was also fussy about where it was clamped on the Godin, particularly having a bit of trouble tuning the G string while the display was upright and easily viewable, until the right position was found. Since that trouble was not apparent when the display was tilted horizontal to the headstock surface, I am guessing that it results from damping caused by the generous rubber cushions on the clamp. While this tuner will not be assigned to my Godin guitar, it will find good use with one of my several steel strung guitars.Write your review here. It must be at least 50 characters long. I recently started playing bass guitar and I needed a clip on tuner. I purchased a USB interface here and I just added this in as an afterthought. It was the best $3.80 I have spent. When you are working on a "wife" budget, you cant go wrong. It does the job, is small and out of the way and a Snark cost 5X+ more. Not many features, but guess what, it is just a tuner so who cares. Get one!
I purchased a few of these tuners (Talent GT-CTN) and a few of the other Talent tuners (GT01) and there are pretty big differences between the two. This tuner (GT-CTN) is a decent ballpark tuner worth the price if all you need to do is get your strings "near" being in tune. When compared to the other Talent tuner (GT01) this tuner is about +/- 6 cents off from the accuracy of the same pitch. In other words, if you count on this tuner to help you get your instrument in tune, you could easily be 14 cents off from another instrument tuned with the same tuner, which will sound terrible. However, if you are changing strings and you just need a tuner to get you "close" to pitch and you tune the rest of the way with another tuner or by ear, this will do the job "okay". I wish PE had kept the GT01 in stock and let this one go.Michael
