I've owned 8 reverb units over the last 30 years. This is a nice one. I just set it on the spring setting at about 8 o'clock and leave it there. Too much reverb sounds like a joke anyway, I grew up w/ spring reverb sounds from Fender amps like Princeton Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Super and Twin reverb. etc. This won't sound exactly like that, but for the price it gets pretty close. It will work fine for recording/ performing w/o issues. I did notice it sounds different when using a single coil guitar vs. a Humbucker, that's a standard issue. True bypass is great. You can buy with confidence ,but you need to understand it's not like spending major money on a high end unit. I can say , no one will ever say, "hey that's a bad reverb" who will ever notice that…. maybe some super sound studio recording guy with 40 years of studio time ? who cares, plug it in a dial in a setting you like and play and enjoy.VJ
Excellent budget effects pedal – Great value – Has 3 basic settings Spring/Plate and Hall – Reverb sweep is very limited range, but mix control is almost unlimited (you can adjust to make it sound like your playing in the next house!) – I generally only use reverb to add snap to a dry signal amp, so was not expecting true ambience at this price range. *Pros – Robust build, large sweep controls, very quiet and clean, True bypass, optional 9V battery (you don't see many of those today do you?) Best price in town on a great little piece of equipment. Honestly, it's amazing what tech is doing these days. This unit is fully staged worthy and has nearly everything anyone could want. There is a learning curve to the unit but it isn't too bad. It isn't perfect out of the box but can be tweaked to preference. Many of the presets are great and as good launch point for sounds you are looking for. As for delivery, my unit came very fast. I think i waited 4 days for my order (which was 5 days earlier than initially estimated).Jeffrey
The GP-200 is a very flexible multi-effects/modeler whose price may suggest something of lower quality, but it's actually a great-sounding and fun unit. I play acoustic and electric guitar with an Acoustasonic Telecaster, and the GP-200 works great for both sounds. You get what's probably hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of amps, effects, and cabinets for a fraction of the cost. The factory presets probably aren't for most people, but the fun is in creating your own anyway. I definitely recommend using the PC/Mac software for this, as it's a little easier on the eyes and a bit more intuitive as far as the interface goes, but working with the unit itself just takes a little time and experimenting to get used to as the documentation isn't as detailed as it could be for the depth of options available. The acoustic guitar IRs are helpful for buffing up a standard piezo pickup; they won't fill anyone into thinking that your $200 guitar is a vintage Martin or whatnot, but they do bring a bit more depth to the sound. I find them a bit brittle-sounding, but perhaps with more EQ tweaking I could minimize that. I highly recommend this unit for people who want a good, flexible modeling solution without paying thousands. I haven't had the opportunity to play with big-name modelers, but this will definitely do the trick for most.Josh

After a few mediocre and one downright terrible vocal processor, the Boss VE-20 manages to have great effects and good editing features while also being simple to program yourself provided you read the manual. The presets are good and get you singing right out of the box, the looper feature is operated by literally three button presses, and navigation and menu diving is streamlined to be as hassle free as possible. The real shining light for me has got to be the distortion effects. Ive never been able to run distortion on vocals without getting huge amounts of feedback from the PA. I dont know why, I dont know how, but as I brought the Boss to the studio a couple days ago, the volume was cranked and I received absolutely no feedback from the monitors. I think there might be some kind of gate within or a limiter of some sort, but Im just happy it works so well!damageeffect
This pedal has very limited uses if you are planning to use this on stage. I was initially excited to play with this thing and hoped it would add a new dimension to my vocals but when I started going through the presets I realized that none of them were very practical. It gives you a ton of reverb options but as anyone who has ever played a show knows, there is already reverb in the venue so using your own on-board reverb on top of that is just going to muddy up your sound. The harmony presets are all useless to me and sound fake anyway. The "pitch correction" was another feature I was excited about but it doesn't do a great job and will often lock on to the wrong notes unless you have perfect pitch (Which i definitely do not). So with all that being said what is left is the chorus effect, doubling effect, flanging effect, tremolo effect and delay effect that are actually useful live. So I guess if you use a bunch of flange, chorus, and tremolo in your vocals, this pedal might be alright. Oh while I'm at it another thing I didn't think about that I wish I had before getting this pedal. If you're playing guitar and singing at the same time (like myself), changing presets is a pain in the butt and near impossible. You have to hold down the 2nd pedal for 2 seconds and then you can scroll through the presets then holding the pedals down again to lock on to the new preset.. you have to ask yourself.. are you really going to have time and coordination to do that while right in the middle of a song? Probably not… I'm sad this thing didn't meet my needs because I was excited about it but it's just not very practical at the end of that day.Dancing with Ghosts

It arrived a few days ago from MF. I want to highlight what I like about it without repeating the contents of its manual. Bottom line, for my usage replacing a Fender black panel Deluxe, a spring reverb, and a Tube Screamer, it is excellent. I am using the Vibro King amp model for most of my tweaking, but I also set up the Twin Reverb (super clean), Super Reverb, and Marshall JCM800 (crunch even with the guitar volume relatively low). The Twin model would not distort without a boost included in the "scene" even with my guitar and the model volumes at 10. That was the one anomaly from my expectations. I like the Vibro King model, amplified by my QSC CP8 (on the floor, on its side, backside EQ set to floor monitor), and do not prefer my now sold Tone Master Deluxe. The first thing I did was download the 2022-10-31 Firmware update and install it. Instructions to put the pedal in "DFU" mode to accept the update were missing. A YouTube video found via Google explained to hold both foot switches while powering up. Next, I installed the main NuX App for my Mac. I disabled the third "scene" such that the "scene foot switch" becomes a "scene" toggle (one cleaner, one with the Tube Screamer engaged, both with spring reverb). I then went through the amp models I planned to use (two "scenes" each, which must be done individually) and set all the controls to 12 o'clock. I tweaked the amp, spring reverb, and Tube Screamer to taste. I now have three ways to boost for an overdriven solo starting with the Vibro King as my clean base: turn up the guitar, foot switch to the Tube Screamer "scene", or foot switch to the JCM800 amp model. I explain all this detail because it took about an hour and without this work the pedal is disappointing. The software was almost easy enough to use without the nonexistent manuals (to do it again it would take much less time). Once done, everything can be adjusted via the knobs and optionally saved with the left foot switch. No menus to navigate at a gig. You can see in the pictures that it is quite small (Tube Screamer for reference), weighs exactly 1 lb. (less than that Tube Screamer), and draws only 3 watts. Leaving it run over night only gets it to room temperature. My old HX Stomp would have been hot to the touch and required a 20-watt power supply. Is it a Universal Audio quality Twin Reverb, Super Reverb, JCM800, or Vibro King modeler? Impossible for me to know. But for what I want, a classic black panel 60s Fender amp tone, spring reverb, and foot switchable Tube Screamer, it is a complete solution in a small package. No aspect of IO is missing (XLR, USB-C, ¼", 3.5mm, MIDI over USB). It also has an effects loop, graphic EQ, all the usual reverb types, 1024 IR loader, a selection of boost/overdrive/compression pedal models, and a noise gate which I've not tried. If one of the amp models is acceptably flat response you could use its 1024 IR loader, reverb collection, and compressor collection for your acoustic guitar too. Wow! What's missing? For my usage a master volume not associated or saved with an amp model "scene" would be nice. It does make a click when switching amp models or "scenes". Sound: OK, so the pre-set programs are hit and miss for me. But that had to be expected, as I am not plugging a guitar into it, but rather a Korg RK100-S2 keytar. For obvious reasons, the cleaner patches, and patches designed around arpeggios sound decent, while the shredding metal patches sound like ass. I'm sure they would both sound good if I was hooked up with an actual 6 string. Features: The most useful feature as far as I'm concerned, are all of those knobs all over the front of the unit. They make it so easy to dial in the sound. Especially when compared to the all digital products like the GT-1. I had a GT-1B last year, and it was aggravating to modify sounds on the fly. The other most useful feature is the Tone Central app. OMG!!! Last month, I trashed Korg's design decision in their app for modifying the keytar's sounds. The window can't be resized, the lines of text are nearly microscopic, it isn't REMOTELY intuitive to figure out how to re-write the patches. Boss' Tone Central app is the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. Full screen, each effect section is on screen alone and has 3 different ways to modify the settings. Get things the way you want, name your patch, and click "write," then choose where you want it saved, and click "OK." It couldn't be simpler. Ease of Use: If the preset patches are hit and miss, the "manual mode" is why I bought this board. The keytar really needs some effects to come alive. This board is simply a placeholder until I can build a quality keytar/synth specific pedal board. Compression, delay, and/or phasers can add a lot of depth to my sound depending on what I'm currently using. Those dials make it super easy to get the sound right quickly. It does sort of suck that they are on the floor, but how could that have been avoided without bluetooth and a phone app? And, if that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place! Quality: I bought this "blemished." My guess, based on the condition of the box that the factory shipped to zZounds, is that this took a fall off of a shelf in the warehouse. One end of the box was mangled badly! Thanks to Boss' attention to detail in packaging, and legendary build quality, I got this product without a scuff, scratch, or dent for 20% off. I like that build quality. (Feel free to play football with some of those synth specific stomp boxes guys! *wink-wink*) Value: Before my fretting hand got too badly damaged to play bass anymore, I wanted the bass version of this product. I believe that it was discontinued, and I missed my chance. I got the GT-1B but didn't like working with it. When I saw that this was available, I didn't hesitate to put it into my cart. Only then, after the fact, did I realize that it was in "blemished" condition. I almost went back and put a new, full priced one in my cart simply because I didn't want the hassle of potentially returning a broken product. So, yes, I do believe this is worth the normal retail price. Manufacturer Support: In the 12 years I've been playing, I've owned several Boss products from tuners to metronomes to multi effects pedals and I have NEVER had to reach out for support. In my estimation, that's the BEST form of customer service! The Wow Factor: G.A.S.! I can't play guitar a lick. But I've bought guitars in the past simply to hang them on the wall. I can't say that I would ever buy THIS product if I didn't need it. But I'm sure that it will still find some place in my home studio, even after the actual pedal board is complete Overall: An easy recommendation for the guitarist on a budget. Depending on one's needs, stomp boxes and pedal boards can become quite pricey. I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. How odd. This review was flagged for writing Big Mu** using the two F's 🙂 For the money, this is a really hard pedal to beat. It goes from mild and laid-back to wild and intense. The controls feel great…like as in excellent quality. This is a reissue of the original Big Mu** PI. I tried a Big Mu** PI with Wicker and forget about it. It hissed so loud in Wicker mode that I couldn't even here myself think and it got even worse with the tone switch off. And even in the so-called Big Mu** PI mode, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as this Rams Head does. And, the Rams Head is quiet compared to the BM PI with Wicker. One more thing, The BM PI with Wicker does not say anywhere on it nor in the included paperwork where it's made, whereas the RH BM PI clearly says New York City on the face of it…Vincent
The tone sweep is nice and there are some interesting spots because it is linear while kind of non-linear at 10 to noon and about 1-2 on tone control. I can't say why but usually I had purchased like more expensive versions of ehx pedals. That being said, I think people need to realize that these are quite accurate reissues and circuits, and just because it is an affordable pedal doesn't mean it isn't great.
Overall: Floats like a stone and stings like a nest of angry hornets! This box has the buzzsaw sound down pat. The fuzz is a thick, smooth, and consistent. I like this kind of fuzz in particular because it’s less fuzzy and little more distortion-like. The Tone knob has a really wide sweep from boomy bass to mid-range Hades. It has plenty of gain on tap and even sounds pretty good with the guitar’s volume rolled back a skosh.I’ve never used the original Green Russian Muff and have only heard them compared through videos online, so I can’t speak as to how they’re different/alike. I got it because I didn’t want to haul my vintage Black Russian Muff around from gig to gig anymore because it’s getting valuable and since it was a pretty jenky design to begin with, it’s liable to break with heavy use. That being said, the reissue Green Russian Muff has a different sound than an original V8 Black Russian Muff. It doesn’t sound as good to me, but it’s not so different that I wouldn’t use the Green Russian live in lieu of the Black Russian for the aforementioned reasons. One huge plus for the Green Russian is its pedalboard friendly size. The Black Russian is the size of an 80s metal lunchbox and took up an awkward sized chunk of the pedalboard. Now there’s more room for other unnecessary boxes (gulp)! One noteworthy ding for this pedal is how difficult it is to see the script on the top of the pedal. The words are printed right underneath the knobs, so if it’s kinda dark (which it usually is) and the lights are all in front of you (which they usually are) the words are impossible to see. Overall it’s a nice fuzz especially for the price. It’s noisy, but once the music gets rolling you won’t even notice it.Brad

Upgraded to this unit from a Pod XT Pro rack. This unit not only has amazing and better sounds but more flexible options and a wider array of effects and amps. Pros: -Sound is stunning. I've not done a side-by-side with a real amp mic'ed with a specific mic in a certain position, but it's utterly convincing to my ears. -Blocks can be re-ordered without restriction. For example, want to daisy chain two amps to get that "you really got me" sound? You can do it and it actually works. -Multiple outs and routing -Flexible pedal assignments. You can connect up another two external footswitches (or exp pedals) and assign to any block. OR, you can assign more than one block to a single pedal (so you could activate a tube screamer, digital delay, and anything else with a single press ready for your solo). OR, you can just use a snapshot and change dozens of parameters with a single press. No more "dancing" around the pedal board, hitting the wrong pedals in the process, looking like an utter berk etc. -Preset sounds with flexible ways to work through them. At a gig I don't have time to change an abundance of settings so have a preset for each song. Sound completely changed in half a second. Next song started without hesitation. -All functions of the unit look like they can be configured through the front panel without having to use the Windows or MAC editor. Cons -Terrible, terrible power supply brick. I can't believe Line 6 sell it like this. They even know it's rubbish – the manual says something to the effect of: "we know the power supply is big but it needs to be special to give you enough juice". Big is not the problem – being stuck upwards in the air from your mains socket standing proud like, er, ahem, well something unmentionable is the problem. Plus when you try to unplug it, the power supply comes in half leaving a little bit left in the mains socket. Which will inevitably get left at a gig. Can't wait for that to happen. -limited number of presets. I need a preset for each of 60 songs. I keep a copy of each preset as a master then duplicate them in the order of the night's set list into other presets – so with that I need at least 120 presets, allowing myself one or two to fiddle with. If I recall correctly this has around 126. Best not learn three more songs that need a different sound each. -It's a little difficult to program the thing – the button layout is confusing and unintuitive compared to the Pod XT pro I have just replaced. I can make the trade-off for the sound but this would not work for many I suspect. -Windows or MAC editor – really? Where do I set that up then? Ah yes I just need a $1000 laptop or a chuffing great desktop unit and monitor to hand. I want to spend my money on guitar gear, thanks! Some other vendors have bluetooth and android apps, line 6 for a change is behind the curve. Two final points. 1) If you need something easier to use buy something with more buttons, knobs and pedal switches. 2) If you really like a particular sound, go out and buy the real amp / effect. You just can't beat the real thing. But this gets very, very close, and of course you have several hundred "things" to choose from with no crackles, no mic stand to get kicked, etc etc.
Purchased as a desktop amp to replace a Kemper head and footswitch, primarily for desktop and recording purposes. The unit is very solidly made and takes up next to no space. Although there are limited knobs on the unit itself, the Windows HX Edit software is excellent and makes it super easy to configure presets. Whilst the HX Stomp's effects blocks are very limited compared with the full size Helix, if you typically use a straightforward setup with, say 3-4 pedals, an amp, a cab/IR I don't see why this tiny device couldn't replace an entire rig. One minus point is that the external PSU has poorly designed plastic adapters for different plug types (UK/Euro etc) which disconnect from the PSU far too easily. First time I took mine out the house I unplugged it and didn't realise the adapter had remained in the socket. I had to buy a US to UK adapter. Something to be aware of if you plan on taking this on the road. Also bear in mind that at the time of writing it's not possible to share presets between Stomp and the larger Helix units.
Where do I begin? What a fantastic unit. I've played it both through a tube, stereo 4×12 rig and an FRFR and it sounds incredible through both. The delays, the mods, the tube amps, the pedals the IR options. The most exciting thing about this is the sound! The Helix class software lets me play like me and sound like me. However, another fantastic feature is the edit-ability, and that you get Helix Native for 99 bucks that loads in full Helix profiles with tons of presets. I love loading the profiles into Native and scaling them down for Stomp XL. Another is the portability. I can tote this thing around everywhere and not even feel the pain of dragging around heavy processing gear. I haven't had it long and am just digging in, but i can tell you, it gets more and more exciting what the Helix class software/ HX Stomp can do the further I go. Sounds great. Also surprising versatility with the HP/LP settings. One criticism is that its very loud. Slotting in after 2 boosts and an OD, then before a fuzz has played havoc with my gain structure as, with those other pedals operating within normal vol ranges, I've found the volume on the OCD needs to be most of the way down when using drive greater than 12-o-clock which is even more noticeable on the HP setting. I needed something to stack along side of my TS that did not overpower the sound of the other pedal or sound too thick on its own. This pedal sounds fantastic with single coil pickups and pairs extremely well with other OD pedals. I like the fact it can run on either battery, 9V, or 18V AC connections, making this a great choice if you have limited ports on your power supply. On its own, it stands out very well when dialing up the drive settings and it sounds absolutely great coming through a properly dimed tube amplifier. It is no coincidence you see these pedals on the boards of many great professional players… This box just has excellent tone and all their products are handmade in the USA with plenty of care involved–making them a quality purchase. I've owned the Fulltone OCD for just over a week now and I can confidently say it's the best overdrive effects pedal I've ever had the pleasure of using. It has a sturdy build, it's versatile, it retains the original tone and colour of your guitar/amp combo and it's LOUD! I wanted a pedal that would fit compliment my '65 Twin Reverb Reissue amp and Telecaster, I love the tone of my setup but I really needed some bite in the shape of a good overdrive. After doing some research and seeing the name Fulltone OCD pop up again and again I started to get very curious about this pedal, the clincher was when I saw it on the pedal board of a guitarist on youtube who was showing off some of my favourite licks! Lots of fun. More presets and user patches than I can keep track of. The only downside is the 60Hz buzz if I use the power supply or an amp that runs on mains power. Got it today. First impression. Tried it with my Fender Jazzmaster and Deluxe Reverb for about 2 hours. Unit is small and has allot of features, the looper is one of the best features. Most the FX are about the same as most pedals. Made of plastic, and made in China, you know those guys with the nukes pointed this way. (LOL) It works good but is kind of noisy much worse with the power adapter, supplied. Tried it with a few of my own power addapters, just as much noise or worse. It should be much quieter than it is, I think it will eat allot of batteries. I playJazz guitar don't use much distortion but it has plenty of choices, some the FX would be useful . Easy to tweek FX and store. Not sure it's right for me I may send it back. If it was quieter I think I would keep it.Johnny
sadly i find it a task to set up. the manual provided covers so many languages but is not very instructive on how to actually programme the unit in any detail. i still have not mastered any changes to obtain the effects i want, this seems to be a problem with most of these types of pedal, not just this one. if the manual was better written and more informative it would improve my opinion greatly. having said all this i do think the unit is very well made and presented and if i can get it to work i will raise my star rating. sorrywardl-2014

I have always appreciated TC Electronic for the great effect boxes that they make. Each one is built like a brick house, and this Hall of Fame 2 is no exception. Anything from gated reverbs to reverse are available in this easy to use package. I use mine primarily for my Moog Subsequent37 to enhance the sounds on it even further and I'm always pleased with the results. I also have the smaller Hall of Fame that I use with my Marshall top, but I think you can expand even deeper with this one. The other thing that I love about their products is the availability of the TonePrints, and there are many to chose from. There just seems to be no end of what type of sound you are looking for when you use the Hall of Fame 2 in your arsenal of effects. I am very pleased with this purchase and, as always, I'll be looking forward to more in the future. Sweetwater always treats me right when I order anything from them and I kind of like the candy too. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking to expand their horizons and, of course, if you have any questions about anything, contact your Sweetwater Sales rep, because they have the answers you need.
Needed a reverb pedal as my recent amp purchase, Marshall Origin 20H does not have onboard reverb. Decent sound from subtle to cavernous. AN expression function on the switch adds more versatility. As a professional recording engineer I've been familiar with TC Electronic for decades. I've used TC Electronic gear for a long time in the studio and have always found it to be the best of the best. However, as a hobbyist guitar player I was not as familiar with TC pedals as I was with pedals by other manufacturers (MXR, Dunlop, Boss, Ibanez, etc…). I've been looking for a good reverb pedal to run in my FX loop because the reverb built into the amp is pre FX Send and since I play with tons of gain I have a gate (TC Sentry – also amazing) in the FX loop and the gate was cutting off the reverb tails. I considered a variety of Reverb pedals but ultimately decided on the TC Hall of Fame 2 for several reasons. First, TC knows reverb, their System 6000 reverb is 13,000 without the remote, 15,000 with the remote. And they are using algorithms from the System 6000 in the Hall of Fame 2 – pretty cool. This is the only product of its kind. You can be a choir of Gregorian monks, ABBA, choir of kids, you can get as simple or as complicated as you feel like, you can turn from man to a woman and back without any surgeries, you can be a robot, a telephone-you name it-this device has got you covered. It is very robust, compatible with many systems and programs, quite user friendly and portable. My only complaint is that the slider isn't always responsive, it is hard to scroll through functions-sometimes it gets stuck, sometimes scrolls too fast. There is no bluetooth and there will be several wires dangling around, but if it had a blue tooth the price would probably be even higher. I have owned this device for about 7 years and it is still about the same price I bought it for, which is quite pricey. But as I said-there is nothing quite like it on the market. This thing is great. It's easy to use, and has enough useful patches right out of the box to cover most situations and styles, although they are spread out among all the patches. I've tried harmonizer software and boxes over the years but they always fell short, and were difficult to achieve useful results with; the harmonies either sounded like munchkins or weird note choices made me sound like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir of Death. Not so here. Can one guy sound like the Eagles doing Seven Bridges Road? Try patch 47. I tried this out at practice last week and with other humans singing their parts too, everything just sounds so natural. It's great to dial in a high 3rd and then step up to the mic to augment what the other guys are singing in places just to fatten things up and, I hate to say it, make us seem more polished. The unit really needs a good harmonic reference (it listens to your guitar) to compute good harmonies. Plugging my guitar in to the Vocalive, and then sending the guitar through to my pedalboard works great. The vocals go from the XLR out to the board. At home I just use the monitor out to an amp if I'm feeling lazy. Room sense (as opposed to plugging your guitar in) doesn't always work as well. Even without the harmonies, it makes my vocals sound punchy and clear. I tried it with an ND967 and a Beta 58 and both mics sounded great. Can't wait for the free MP-75 to show up and try that out. One of the nice surprises was just how useful the guitar effects section is. I already have some of the effects (a TC reverb, delay & chorus) on my regular pedal board, so I felt right at home. The overdrives are surprisingly useful. I'm a tube guy, not because you can't get any good sounds with a digital pedal, but because they generally don't respond to changes in guitar volume like tubes do. These mostly clean up pretty smoothly when you back off the guitar volume. The hit button is great. You can turn on or off multiple effects in both the vocal and guitar sections at once just by tapping it. I think with a little experimentation and programming, you could go play a job with just this, a volume pedal for the guitar, and an expression pedal for things like wah (yes it has that too). I'm not saying you could dial in all the exact sounds you get from your pedal board today, but you can create great sounds that will work for almost any situation. I'd give it a five except for one thing (hope you're listening TC). While you can: a) Dial in a great guitar sound in a global patch and use it with every vocal patch, or b) Dial in the global patch and use it in some vocal patches, and individually program the guitar sounds that don't use the global guitar patch, or c) individually program every patch (the way it comes from the factory, and manages to show off the versatility), but I'd like to see… d) The ability to set up several global guitar patches and select from them for each vocal patch. Or, the ability to independently select guitar and vocal patches if I want. Maybe even have the hit button swap between two guitar patches. Come to think of it, I have to tap several buttons and twist a few knobs on my pedalboard to do that, so maybe it deserves a 5. Great box. Glad I bought it.voxmore

Two weaknesses that kept me from giving it a 5 star review. 1) The Harmony pedal (the only one you actually use mid-song) is also the bypass pedal. If you tap it the harmonies turn on. If you hold it down for 1second (!?!) it bypasses all the effects and harmonies. While I understand wanting to bypass the effects inbetween songs, 1 second is WAY too short of a time to switch. I often hit it slightly too long and find my vocals dry, without harmonies, and way quieter than I should be. That's a design flaw. 2) You can only set the key of a patch to major keys. It has trouble with minor keys. And while you can usually use a corresponding major key to fit most minor key songs, there are sometimes it won't work, nor does the internal mic accurately pick up the key of whatever your'e playing. I have found ways to work around these limitations and hope to upgrade to a newer, nicer version in the near future.Frontman

This is a really cool and unique pedal that adds a doubling effect to your sound with varying degrees of tightness depending on how you set it so it can sound like a chorus, delay, or it can just thicken up your sound. with 1,2, or 3 dubs it can really add a minor or very noticeable effect depending on how you set it and it can really sound fantastic while being very versatile. only letting this go because i'm changing to a multi fx pedal. not looking for trades. don't have the original box.

I track usually 4 rhythm tracks, two of the exact same then two more of the same but with accents or harmonies etc as my main rhythm and I like it to be tight and sound like one guitar performance, the variations and accents and harmonies blend and widen the sound, also I use hard panning and other panning to make the guitar sound huge. With the guitar sound very close performance wise and tone/distortion quality wise, I find that it just sounds like one massive performance and the listener perceived it as a Randy Rhoads kind of singular performance. I'm the only guitarist and I play complex chords, this also let's be play parts of the chord separately for more even intonation and harmonics definition. It goes towards the big sound, I kind of learned from Alex Lifeson, Rhoads, and Hatfield and Wolf of Accept this approach as they all do the main rhythms and it sounds tight and huge. Mimiq helps me get the 4 tracks with only two performances and it adds natural sounding random variations that do what the multitrack stacking of individual performances does, it doesn't just uniformly cancel out all the interesting variations, which can happen if you just copy the same track and reamp. It does what I wanted to do, with less than half the effort.Mindcage
This replaced the signal splitter on my board with the added benefit of actually making my stereo sound better. I have it right after my tuner and it splits into an HM-2 LHP on the dry side and a Blackened Fuzz on the wet "double" side. Makes my stereo rig sound better. I only use the 1 dub mode, so Dry and 1 Double L/R and I use it pretty tight, just enough to make it sound "different" but not sloppy. Does exactly what I had hoped it would do.
Bought to run a slight delay to a second amp more so than the "double track" thing. But actually this effect seems pretty decent. Did i immediately notice you can get phase issues? Yes of course. Did i get some of that notorious left right jump thing? Yes. But it seems to relate to using the pedal at the limits of what its happy with. For the price this thing is a keeper…because otherwise im having to spend big dosh on either the 30ms or the Deco. Buy this but be prepared to accept some limitations and bug bears. Ich wollte einen effektprozessor haben mit dem ich relativ flexibel bin und der zudem noch kompatibel mit meinem Boss katana 100 Mk 2 Das hab ich hiermit gefunden! Das Gx 100 lässt sich mit der 4 kabel Methode an den Katana anschließen und in den Einstellungen anwählen was ich sehr gut finde ! Viele patches sind vorgegeben lassen sich aber nach belieben ganz easy ändern, da ich auch in nem bunker mucke mache und öfters den Sound anpassen muss oder will brauchte ich was mit dem ich flexibel Einstellungen treffen kann, der katana kann das nur am PC , der gx sogar mit Bluetooth und dem dazu gehörigen Bluetooth Teil das es separat zu kaufen gibt . Ansonsten , Touch und Bedienfeld find ich geil kann ich nicht meckern …. Ich würde es weiter empfehlen ,definitiv So ich spiel ma weiter ???????? Letz RockSascha

Knobs, knobs, and more knobs! And I love it! I have played with all sorts of stomps boxes trying to come up with just the right combination. I have come full circle and now really appreciate this simple to use multi-effect unit. There is something to be said for simplicity. I just bought a Boss ME-50 Multi effects pedal for my guitar. I specifically bought this one as a back up. It was used but very well taken care of, in fact it looked brand new when I received it. I plugged it in and it works perfect. It actually sounds better than the one I have been using for my gigs. Everything was as specified. The volume button had been replaced but that did not effect the pedal what so ever. The best used purchase I have made yet!redwinejazzjunkie
I have been playing guitar seriously for only about 8 months now but bought this pedal as a recommendation from a friend that has been playing for 20+ years. This pedal combines every effects pedal made by BOSS into one streamlined package. The distortion effect in themselves are AMAZING! There are so many settings to choose from and such a great variety of sounds. This is such a time consumer just sitting around and playing with all of the options. I cannot believe you can get this much value in today's modern market! I have used a Motion Sound Pro T3 with my Korg CX-3 organ for many years. Loved it! But finally it was going to cost more to fix than buying a RT-20. The Youtube videos showed that it could do a great job for keyboardists not just guitarists looking for a compact, inexpensive Leslie like effect. This unit has delivered that to me in spades! Did not expect a simulated rotary sound to replicate the rotary sound so well! Have used it in recording and live already! Great construction and love the visual rotary even more. The Motion Sound required me to look back to see if it was on fast. The RT-20, is at my feet and easy to get a visual on whether I am on fast or slow. For what I paid, I am amazed.
I actually bought a different sim pedal, but after comparing it to this one (my guitar player had it) I exchanged the one I bought originally for this one. I think for the price, this sim pedal has versatility that you typically expect of pedals costing twice as much. I love the LED rotor display on stage, you can quickly see your rotor speed. Very tight control of the effect, very sturdy construction. The only thing that kept me from giving it a 5-star rating was having to purchase the AC adapter separately. But other than that, I am VERY happy with this. It makes my software synths sound like a full-blown Hammond/Leslie combo, that I can pack under one arm instead of having to hire help to carry.Mike P.
Inspired by the sweet funky lead guitar tones of the Arc Angels song "Good Time", I started a quest for a good Leslie simulator that took me almost 15 years to complete. I tried (and even bought) several effects over the years, but found all of them extremely lacking in one way or another. When I found the Boss RT20, I was impressed by (1) the overall warmth and tone, (2) the ability to adjust the level(s) of the Horn and Rotor, as well as inject more of the Dry signal if need be, and (3) the low noise threshhold. The various Modes (I, II, III, IV) are useful due to how different rooms affect your tone; a bouncy, bright room worked better with Mode II. A dark, "dead" room worked better with Mode I, etc. (your results may vary). The "Brake" function works great, very close to the actual brake action of a real Leslie (I like how it ramps up and dow, and has a control of how fast that ramping is). I have dialed in reasonable sonic facsimiles of SRV's "Cold Shot", Clapton's "Badge", Harrison's "Let It Be" and Jimmie Vaughan's "Tear It Up" and "Tip On In" tones…as well as my own "Travis County Line" and "I Love You (But Yo Momma's Gotta Go)" A multi-instrumentalist (drummer/guitarist/keyboardist/bassist/singer/producer) within our group has used the pedal with his lower-end Yamaha keyboard, and got great results; after mixing the song, you would think there is an acual Hammond B-3 or C-3 in the band. Some people have criticized the Uni-Vibe setting; I'll admit it isn't perfect, but I've heard much, much worse. (Although, I admit I'm not much of a Uni-Vibe user, so take my non-criticism with a grain of salt). I personally like the spinning light show–it allows you to "see" the speed of the settings. The only criticism: The distortion effect should never, ever, ever be turned on. It turns the entire effect into a steaming pile of elephant droppings. It's not even a "good" bad. There are perhaps better Leslie effects out there (I've played through the Strymon and was suitably impressed), but for the money, this one is definitely a keeper. Is this as good as a real Leslie 122 or 145 or Vibratone? Probably not, but this costs and weighs significantly less–especially considering how I normally only use this effect for two to three songs throughout the performance. I bought the GNX for less than we would pay for a single function stomp box, so in that regard, it was a heck of a bargain. I use this for recording and band practice (to avoid carrying my rig). I considered using it on stage but it pops loudly and there is a lot of latency when changing presets. When running through the mains that is a big issue. So, when playing live I still use my pedalboard and guitar amplifier. Still, in my home studio and during rehearsal, this is not an issue, and, with presets modified to my personal liking, the thing is quite good. If I had paid full, new price for it I would be a little disappointed, but for my applications, it was a terrific bargain (used) at $110 shipped.140ina70
Well, this is the 3rd whammy that i buy. I always buying used products to save money but this one doesn't have a long life and the problem is it has a big demand thats why i think is better buy new, be patient always there are offers with new whammy just $20-10 more than a used. The first one broken in a couple of months (used), the second one comes with a desperfect in the pedal (returned), the 3rd one new works and looks perfectly. And i can say it has a great solid building. Great for jammin, covers, have a lot of fun. But is monophonic you can't make chords. Now i have a Boss PS-5 too, and both have similar quality sound…very similar, but i think whammy looks killer. For harmonix quality the better sound comes from a Electro Harmonix POG (but you can't connect a expression pedal in that, just in the HOG but is $450 f*ck)jc.povea
I purchased the Whammy V. I picked this up specifically to use as an octave pedal, but after a few hours of playing, I found that it has a wide variety of options that really shine. 1. The octave effects are very clean and clear, no digital artifacts and the chordal bending is spot-on. Both the Harmonic Octave and the Whammy octave work excellent. 2. I found that the detune feature really works as a Chorus. It is quite nice, very shimmery. Not a warm chorus, but a very icy, shiny chorus. 3. The harmonies are all lots of fun, but many are impractical, or just too dissonant for my taste. Things like +2, -3 Harmonies are just not really useful. +5, +4, -5, -4 are all really cool though. 4. The Whammy effects are great for the most part. The extremes (+2 Octaves, -2 Octaves, Dive Bomb) all suffer from sounding very digital. Especially the 2 and 3 octaves down. Most amps just can't handle that set of frequencies, so you just get a farty, flabby mess. This is easily the best whammy yet, lots of great tones in it and the addition of true-bypass, Chordal pitch bend and smaller size, add up to an excellent addition to your board. Be sure to look around. They retail for $200, but can be found new for $190 or less. I paid $160 for mine. It was a store demo, but was in perfect condition.saxguy80
