Electric Guitar Hard Case Amazon For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

I purchased this item to protect my Gibson Les Paul Custom Signature Series Guitar. As reviewed, the interior is extremely plush. The exterior looks quite dependable for all intent and purposes. Like others noted, the points of contention are the metal pieces attaching the handle preventing a 5 star rating. It is illogical to spend so much time on every detail "except" the parts supporting ALL the weight of the instrument. It appears that with a given amount of weight shift, the support brackets may snap off allowing the case to fall down in the direction of the headstock and potentially cause damage from impact. Since this case will very rarely see time outside of my home, I feel fairly certain the few times I need to transport my axe, I will be careful.1amun_re

Cheap shell covered with vinyl. Cheap handle. Cover is falling off where the case curves in. Stitching is a joke, not real. It should sell for about $40. At least it fits my guitar. Not even close in quality to a Road Runner for about the same price.nolens

i ordered this with intentions of getting the most for my money. I don't have big bucks to spend, but I wanted certain things and I got what I hoped for. I wanted enough length to accommodate the longer-than-typical headstock on my LP copy Bradley. The measurements were clearly lined out. The rest of the fit was perfect and plush. My only criticism is the metal bracket that secures the nice handle seems a little thin, but I expected there to be a little give-and-take somewhere, for this price. I'm pretty handy and will figure out a way to reinforce it. If not for this I'd give it 5 stars! FYI, Standard Shipping meant US Post Office, at least in my case. Well made for the money. The picture doesn't really show the quality, but it's there. My Gibson SG standard fits a little loose, but not enough to move around with the lid closed. Latches seem to be solid and not to cheaply made like other competitors product. It gets five stars. Sound: N/A Features: The separate interior compartment was one of the reasons for the purchase but nothing fit. Gibson Les Paul Standard doesn't fit. The neck isn't supported thus causing the body to rock back and forth. Kramer Assault 220+ does not fit. Same problem with the neck as the LP. PRS SE Fredrik Akesson doesn't fit because the body is too thick. Ease of Use: N/A Quality: The outer plastic case material felt thin and flimsy. It'll probably protect your guitar during daily carry but I don't think it'll survive an impact. The latches and hinges are terrible. The latch metal and plating is rough and sharp on the edges. All the latch pivot pins are bowed, I suspect from tension keeping the cover closed tight. The hinges are mounted slightly crooked with the middle hinge mounted on a curve so the edges stick out. All around poor selection of hardware and poor workmanship. The blown foam interior is smaller that the case leaving a 1/4 inch space all the way around. The plush interior hides this gap but it's significant. One of the desiccant packets was open inside (?!) and a few of the little pellets are now rolling around underneath … which means there's airspace underneath! I though it was solid foam? Guess not. Value: I'm not sure what fits in this case … properly … but for $109, its quality and workmanship is marginal and a far cry from the PRS hard case I tried for $177. I would put this in the $60 range but maybe I'm expecting too much. Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: It looked good until I actually got it in my hands. Overall: Overall, not worth it. The case is road worthy, and does its job of protecting my guitar! As a touring musician (to any musician), that is what matters most. It is a simple good looking case and I am very pleased that I bought it!I've had it for a couple of months, and have traveled and performed through 3 states with it. I live in Florida and deal with weather that is very humid and big up and down temperature changes during the winter and spring months and the case still looks new and continues to keep my guitar safe!Gene M

This is a solidly-built gigbag fr people who demand a lot of their equipment. If you just need something for home-to-rehearsal, save your money. I bought it for the vertical load-unload, as I remove my guitar many times a day, in crowded settings. I also need something very sturdy: even $200.00 bags only last a few years for me. The vertical idea works, but is only modestly easier than just doing the vertical thing with a regular gigbag. Drop-proof padding under the lower bout of the instrument is, however, outstanding. The longevity of both the shell and the lining remain to be seen. I was glad to find that there is more storage space than I'd expected. All in all it's well worth it, if you need the vertical load combined with excellent build quality.Scooter

TLDR: 10/10 would buy again, check dims of bag to make sure your powered guit-fiddle fits. Combat proven. Padded well. The review: This case is awesome. This is what happens when a high end airline proof hard case mates with a high end gig bag and has a baby. Lower end hard cases exit the chat when Momo Vertigo arrrive. The durability is crazy. That youtuber 60 cycle hum dropped a guitar inside from his pad's 2nd story roof and the thing made it ok. Check youtube for the action. The only case that would protect better is airline proof hard case. A regular hard case would offer protection but they don't have as much padding as this. If you had a fender in a fender hard case and dropped it from 2 stories, you'd have splinters of wood in guitar colors (and maybe some hardware that might work?). The airline ready hard cases would probably cover it. A nice touch is it has the chest strap like really good hiker day packs have. The upgrade would be if it had that body fitting harness that hiker day packs have, but the packpack straps really help regardless (and kudos to when this was standard feature for gig bags). This doesn't have extra pockets like other gigbags, Gator gig bag but the protection exceeds this like star bucks coffee beats out gas mini mart coffee. I have a gator and that is a good gig bag but it doesn't offer as much protection as the vertigo. Near the top, other gig bags would have a top pocket, but the momo instead has extra padding. They could add extra pockets, but it would increase the size. I like the size for the protection level it gives. For me it doesn't matter (I bring in a backpack). This does run expensive and I've read on the forums that some guitars might not fit (like 7 or eight string speed axes with non standard meaning tele or strat, with long scale neck ) or baritone electrics in this case, so measure and check against the internal dimensions . . . Momo does have bass version so those guitars might fit in the bass ones. There is hardly any negatives, well there's a post here where someone says its too heavy and thick, but this does get close to being heavy as a good hard case, so . . . well that's the point so it can protect your axe. I tend to think posts like that are kinda leaning to user error, like those infamous yelp posts where they give 1 star to a top rated sushi joint and then they say they didn't like the food, food was bad, under cooked etc . . . and they preface their post with they don't like seafood / allergic to seafood and ding the sushi place for lack of variety.HIro

I would call this more of a soft-shell case, rather than a traditional gig bag. I don't believe in the claims that this protects more than a hard-shell case, but it is much lighter, and noticeably better than most flimsy gig bags out there; and its waterproof as well! Of course, as with any product, it has its issues: one, the accessories compartment could be bigger, and I don't understand the slanted layout, it just seems to sacrifices space for aesthetics; two, this thing came with a lot of tags attached with plastic barbs, which are pierced through the case, so once you remove them there are holes in the outer layer, which kinda negates the whole waterproof aspect a little; also, one end of the barbs are inside the fabric, so you can't get to them; three, it is a bit expensive. Overall, it's not perfect, but it is much better than your typical $20-50 gig bag, and I do feel much more secure with my guitar in it than I did with previous gig bags. I think the price of guitar cases are totally inflated and to get one on sale is something one has to do to stretch the dollar. Okay, that being said, this case fits my China made Fender strat Squier to a tee. The eye catching tweed fits the Fender vibe. If you noticed my cons was durability i.e. the cases tweed look is attractive, but you wonder as road gigs pile up if the tweed doesnt start to tear and expose the raw components exterior of the case underneath? If they had lacquered the tweed exterior, the case itself would have a fighting chance to slip and slide into vans and carriage areas with little thought of rips and tears it would acquire in a short time. Again, I dont gig much these days, but if I was looking at a case long term that could withstand the road, this case would questionable unless you "handle with care" when you transport and load and unload your gear.James R

I didn't feel like spending over $200 and waiting until who knows when, for a Gibson Explorer case, so I picked one of these up. For the money, it's a good case. I carry my guitars with me to shows, so they are always in my vehicle, so this case does the job. I will say it feels a tad more sturdy than the Gator version of this case, and it's slightly smaller, which is a good thing given how large an Explorer case has to be. The only improvement I could wish for, is to make it tad smaller still. There's still several inches of room from the headstock to the edge of the case. I purchased this knowing that it wouldn't be a super durable road case but adequate for storage and playing out now and then. In those ways, it met my expectations. The case is made of very thin plywood, but not so flimsy that it can't function as a good light duty case. The hardware appears to be of decent quality and all of the latches lined up well. The lining was neatly applied and actually fairly soft and plush. It is a universal fit case, so I wasn't expecting it to be completely form fitting to my Telecaster. It will move around a bit in the case when you transport it. It could use better neck support, as well. But overall, not bad for the price. Where this product really came up short is with the application of the tweed covering. The tweed was applied over wood chips and small voids in the wood frame. No effort was made in sanding or prepping the wood prior to applying the cover material. This is only cosmetic, but looks really sloppy and substandard. Maybe I just got a rough one. I didn't expect perfection at this price, but I don't think this case ever should have left the factory like this.Pat

Purchased this case for my Fender Precision Bass. Mostly, will be kept in my studio, and occasionally on a few short gigs. Case seems sturdy, and I like the compartment size suitable for a strap, cable, etc. Also features a locking latch which is very handy. Pricewise, its a very nice case for my needs, without going into more expensive flight cases for touring. Very satisfied and should last for quite a while. Would buy this product again. Decent case for the money. Dimensions are a little off from whats advertised. Lower bout width is around 13-1/4 instead of 13-1/2 so my BC Rich Eagle fits a little snug. Overall, no more than I use it, itll work. Sure beats paying $300 for the actual BC Rich case. Also, if your headpiece sets at a steeper angle, it will put pressure on the headpiece. Outstandingly well made case. Very sturdy. You will not have to worry about your guitar when it's in this case. Lined with fur material; heavy duty latches, and chrome "feet" tips that keep the case off the floor when you sit it down. Made with plywood, so it is heavy and very durable. It was a little expensive, but I know my guitar is well protected. I already had a Takamine case for my other guitar, and this ChromaCast case is made as well, or even better than the Takamine.Doris

I am surprised by the quality of this case. It is heavy duty, sturdy. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so little and received the best quality like this. My Fender FA-100 fits perfectly. It has a compartment for gear, extra strings, picks, small bottle of cleaner, and whatever.Jim

Looks good but cheaply made and flimsy. Top of case will not stay opened unless you use some force to slightly stretch the strap but you have to be careful not to over stress it or it may detach on one end. Plus the latches on the top section of the case didn't seem seem a bit misaligned the first time and afterwards when closing the case. Spend the extra money and get a better made case.GBPKRMAN

This Musicians Choice product is inexpensive – and no worse than the significantly-more-costly, official, Gibson-branded SG case. That's not saying much, though. The neck rest is about 1/3 of an inch too high. That means that, since the body portion of the case lid has a pad that presses down on your SG's body, closing the case puts serious pressure on the headstock of your guitar. Essentially, unmodified, this case is perfectly designed to break your SG at the headstock, if it's subjected to any, even fairly minor, banging around – such as by airport baggage handlers. If you have modest shop skills – and somewhat more advanced upholstery chops – you can carefully remove the velveteen cloth from the neck rest block, remove the block and sand its bottom down about 1/3 inch, then reinstall (re-glue) the block to the bottom of the case, and then trim and re-glue the velveteen to cover it. Voila! Your SG case now actually PROTECTS your guitar, instead of endangering it. Again, it bears repeating that the Gibson-branded case has EXACTLY the same design defect. The Musicians Choice version is just a slavish copy. If you want actual protection without having to modify the case, buy an ABS-molded, third-party, high-end case and leave both this one and its Gibson equivalent on the shelf.thomst

Excellent case for the price! I keep all my guitars in cases on a guitar rack in my studio. I needed a case for my SG without spending $100 or more on a case. I no longer do any gigs, so this case fit the bill for my needs. As in other reviews, my SG fit like a glove. Are there higher quality, more expensive cases out there? Yes. But for home protection against dust, or accidental fall mishaps, or short trips to a jam session, it's perfect! If your needs are somewhat similar to mine, I'd say, Don't hesitate! The case described is a 3" thick flat top case for a solid body, and the case GC sent (3 times…!) was a 5" thick case with a top bubble for an archtop. Even the tag on the case says it's for an archtop… It's a great budget case that fits a Telecaster loosely, and it will protect the guitar in my trunk exponentially better than any gig bag and will serve its purpose, so it's a keeper. The case sent is really the other more expensive Musician's Gear Archtop Deluxe Case at the solid body case price, and there's not a lot of other options in this price range.Smitty

The zippers on these bags are junk. they need to use heavier top notch zippers. the zipper on the smaller compartment areas is too small for real usage. Not sure why they just dont use the larger zipper on EVERYTHING. The a 3 point velcro rings for the tick bag should be 4 point (it sags on the single point if the tick bag is packed). where they strap at the top with 2 points is good, but its a bit wonky on the single strap in the middle because what happens is if you are carrying the guitar by the handle the tick bag sags down at that point a little bit. The guitar bags are kinda spendy but if you've invested into it, then the company should go the extra mile.I just wonder how much these guys have really travelled gig after gig with these bags. They are better than most out there though but also a lot more money too. I just think they need to use better zippers and add better/stiffer sidewalls for the guitar cases. My rig is heavy and wonder how long the guitar bag shoulder straps will last too. They seem sturdy, and so far so good. I play a Les Paul and the case could have stiffer sides for a heavier guitar. If you play a Strat or Tele then you're probably OK. Hands down this has been the best gig bag i have ever purchased and likely the last until it has to be replaced. I had previous cheaper versions and they were just that, cheap. This MONO bag has been a huge upgrade and im so happy i made the decision to get it. The linning inside makes sure the finish is well protected and the neck strap and support block are such a great insurance knowing guitar is not going to swing around in the space. The storage is great holding all my cable (both 1/4 inch and Kemper pedal cable) In ears, picks,spare strings and even having both guitars loaded (An ESP telecaster and PRS 7 string) its not a bad weight evenly distributed when strapped on your back. Outer shell is extremely well made and looks like its going to stand up to the road well. Bottom has rubber treads to set it on the ground without worry. If your looking at it but are scared of the price dont be, after your first set you will be glad you got itDaniel

Purchased this case in "Brown" and it's beautiful. Very well made and a little lighter than the epiphone brand Case. The gold hinges and latches are stronger than I had anticipated, Should last for years. The interior is solid and covering is just as well made as it's competitors brand, epiphone. It does not carry it't name sprawled in gold ink across the top of the case, yet does have a small metal name plate attached to the side by the handle. This case does not fit a Gibson Flying V in a safe way. I have a 2019 Gibson Flying V and the guitar fits in the case with about 3 inches of room on either the top or bottom of the case because it will slide front to back. I have closed the case and gently shifted it to see if the guitar shifts while the case is sealed and it will. This case would not protect the guitar in any form of travel.Tony

I bought this product because I read it would be the best case for my Jackson RRXMG (24 fret). The case is very nice and super sturdy. I really like the way the latches are designed because I feel they're a bit harder to open than traditional locking fasteners. All that being said the guitar fits, but the headstock does hover a bit and the neck gets pushed when you close the case completely. Also the interior compartment is a bit small so don't expect put any type of musical book in there. Overall I'm pleased because my guitar is still protected.Epic Axe Man

I bought the Gator GWE Hardshell case for a Squier Affinity Stratocaster project. The case holds the guitar firmly in place with no movement. I was a bit surprised at the good quality of the case at the price point. It wouldn't hold up to excessive abuse, but for storage purposes it works fine.Kenneth

Bought this case along with a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster thinking it wouldn’t be as nice as the similar Fender case that is around $80 more but I did think it would at least be a solid, protective case. It is not. Exchanged emails with AMS to authorize an exchange for the SKB case and was made aware exchanges are not allowed on Easy payment options. Makes sense, I just wasn’t aware and I’m sure I’m not the first caught off guard. Opted to return for a refund and was told card on file would be charged around twelve bucks. To return a junky case that has carpet on the interior lifting up, and that also has “tolex” pulling apart on the outside. Lame. Just get the skb, or even better, order the deluxe molded fender case from someone who stocks it and hopefully stands behind the products they sell. Maybe just a byproduct of the Amazon era where decades old retailers are essentially operating like a punk distro…..Ty

rugged case that fits my D'angelico Gramercy well. Should fit any other brand of Grand Auditorium well too. There's just a tiny bit of wiggle room, but it doesn't bother me too much. It's fine for going around to rehearsal and light gigs. If you're a touring pro or looking to ship a guitar in this case you'll want something beefier. The insides are very well padded as it is. As a stupid deal of the day, this was a great purchase. If you're looking at paying retail, this isn't a bad choice but they're may be something better for your needs out thereBobby B.

i first bought a skb case at 3 times the cost of this and the foam insert fell out of the top when i opened it. i then bought a gator case also about 3 times more in cost and it was so bent up the case was hard to close and would not seal. you could stick 2 credit cards into the latched case between the gaps. i even bought an epiphone branded plywood case and it arrived with what looked like a bullet hole in the bottom bout end. i then bought this for $49 on sale with very low expectations the case was put together poorly, had glue slopped all over the case inside and out, the fuzzy black lining is very thin and cheap and the foam is hard. now the good, it has 6 latches that all work, one is lockable but you can use nearly any suitcase key to unlock it,the two sides come together easily and the fit is tight as it should be, the hinges are well placed and work properly. the outside is hard plastic with a nice uniform finish and what i expected and wanted. the handle is well attached and solid. my epiphone les paul limited custom pro fits like a glove. this is not something i would check at the airlines but it should be fine in the car and protect against kids and dogs in the house if this case had cost $100 or more i would have sent it back, at $49 sale price it is better than i had hoped for and better than the gator or skb. the thing all of these cases have in common is poor workmanship,cheap materials and made in china! after i cleaned up all of the glue it looks quite nice. it is a shame that the companies that build all of these chinese cases rely on the customer to do their quality control work. .crazy gunsmith

I bought a couple of these when they were on sale and they're exaclty what I expected. They're not top of the line, and they certainly are NOT suitable for checked luggage on a flight, but for everyday use they're fine. My Seagull Mariner fits perfectly. My Rogue resonator fits a little loose but it's fine. I've also used one to transport a D'Angelico hollowbody and it fit fine with a towel tossed on top to keep it from bouncing around.Doug

The guitar fits perfectly. A solid tough case I'll use gigging. I came in for strings and fell for a used Epiphone Sheraton. The crew looked and could not locate the OHSC it came with. They sent me home with a soft case, so I could go home while they continued to look. I came back a few days later to check. The store manager and crew looked one last time. I offered to help pay for a new one since I purchased a used guitar and case. They ordered a new case that was sent to my front door two days later and gave me a gift card. That was above and beyond. You guys rock my musical world. I've been a long time customer. I recommend Sam Ash and the Epiphone Hard Shell Case. I've several guitars and basses and tons of gear from Sam Ash. I needed a road case for my new Epiphone ES-335 guitar. These guitars are famous for sounding great, but being fragile, so I wanted a good strong case that would be a perfect fit for the guitar. It was vital that the guitar not shift inside the case. This really does the job. It's light and strong; the latches and hardware are sturdy and well made. The padding is soft and plush, and unlike some cases, there was almost no residual odor from glue and manufacturing processes, and that dissipated almost immediately. After purchasing the Schecter C Model guitar, I decided a beautiful guitar deserved a beautiful case. Storing my brand new guitar in a used case, it didn't seem right, so I ponied up for the right case that was meant to store such a a masterpiece of an instrument. Ok, so there is only so "fancy" a guitar case can be, right? Wrong. This case is a work of art. First off, it's kind of heavy-which I like. If you plan on carrying it for long distances, you may want to look elsewhere. Secondly, the interior fits my guitar very nicely. There is maybe 1/4" of space around the body of my CR-6,so it isn't snug, but once you latch it down, I can't feel any movement. Thirdly, the blue interior looks awesome. It's velvety, not furry like most cases. Fourthly, the latches look like any other guitar case latches, but they are painted black… they seem like they are coated with something. THEY DON'T MAKE THAT ANNOYING CLACKING NOISE! They open and close very smoothly. Finally, when the guitar is in the case, and you pick up the handle, it balances perfectly. Of course this will differ slightly depending on the guitar, but in my case it works very nicely.etaeniura

Very good buy that was suggested when I bought my Schecter Reaper-7. The guitar fits perfectly in there and doesn't move around at all. The only things I didn't realize when I bought it was that the cutouts for other gear inside the case weren't covered, so if it's not packed in well, there's a chance for it to move around inside. The latches and lock feel a little cheap, but still a good deal for the price. If you're worried about somebody getting into your case or if you want a better luck for say going through a baggage claim, I would look for something a little more expensive with better locks. I don't really have to worry about that, so it's perfect for me. If you want a case mainly for storage, like me, you'll be pleased with this product.Zack G

They are pretty nice, offer a medium level of protection, and are lightweight. They are meant for Strat style and Tele style guitars but are not tightly form fitted so superstrats fit fine (like Ibanez RG, etc…). Some other guitars will fit in them too, maybe not ideally but fairly well: a Gibson Melody Maker, Les Paul Special or Jr. (non arch top) or similar guitar fits pretty nicely, PRS SE Paul's or similar body shape models will fit but I fold up a small microfiber towel and put it at the bottom edge of the guitar to push it slightly forward in the case because if I don't the high E tuning key is barely touching the storage compartment in the case, the towel gives it enough breathing room. For the price you'd have a hard time finding a better case, definitely better protection than a gigbag. Not a heavy duty road case.Mark

Overall: Well, ordered this case because I got a screaming deal on a brand new Ibanez RG470AHM and hated the case that came with it, I also wanted to check out zZounds no interest payment plan. Case that came with the guitar was something to protect the guitar and better than a gig bag but not much. The new Ibanez case came in just 2 days and was extremely well packaged! It looks great! Outside has sort of a carbon fiber molded look and the inside was beautiful and plush. Guitar fits in in it like a glove! It is exactly what I was looking for, and there is zero movement of the guitar when the lid is closed. Case only has 3 latches but it is secure when they are latched and there is a key lock as well. I just wish I could find a case that fits like this for my B C Rich mockingbird!! Ibanez, you nailed it with this case for the RG series guitars. zZounds, great job with my first order. Fits my Ibanez S570AH like a glove. Well made ABS plastic case with locking center latch. No compartment lids to break or lose. Interior compartments are sealed via the apposing half of the molded interior when the two halves are closed together. Empty it's unbalanced. With guitar inside it's perfectly balanced and comfortable carrying. A small compartment for picks, clip-on tuners etc, a second compartment wide enough for a 3-4" wide guitar strap with room left over, and a third for your cord etc. I also have a small portable folding floor stand for my guitar that fits alongside my cord in the larger compartment. The interior is well done with no loose areas or frayed edges showing. All surfaces are glued and fitted tightly. It's not a professional road case, but it.s suitable for travel locally or in your personal vehicle without worry. Also be a good carry-on if airline allowed you. I wouldn't trust the baggage handlers, but then who does? …unless you absolutely had too. That said, it's safer than a plywood case for sure. And unless they stacked an elephant on it or literally threw it from the plane, your guitar would likely survive being tossed around as things are. A fair deal for the price all things considered. Just keep in mind, it IS plastic after all. Not steel and bullet proof. I'd buy another if needed.honorable1-us

It fits perfectly my Ibanez Artcore AF75 Red-sunburst. I'm a happy customer because I bought the case for that exact reason. I'm the type of person who does not like to take the straps off the guitar, and this case allows me to continue doing exactly that. The compartment is big enough to add some accessories, but most importantly I feel that the guitar is protected. the latch for the lock is not the nicest one of all my guitar cases — look closely in the picture — you would need a little pad-lock, similar to the ones you use for your luggage. No big deal, I just wanted to have a case to avoid my guitar become a dust bunny heaven. If you're an AF Series Artcore owner, this is a must-have.BeeZee

I use cases mostly for home atmospheric storage i.e. from humidity variations. First impression: the inside smells WONDERFUL – very pleasant and inviting. Though this is the specified case for Ibanez jazz boxes, at first I thought that the guitar (an AF71F) wouldn't fit inside. It seemed like the case waist was too small. However, there is some 'give' to the lining and with some firm, but gentle, pressure the guitar went inside … snug, though … like a hand in a glove. That's better than a case letting the instrument jostle around. TKL makes these cases for Ibanez branding, as well as for other brands. It's a fine case for a reasonable sum i.e. compared to the alternatives. The chromed fittings seem of nice quality, too. No hesitation recommending these cases.Discoveror
