After trying several set ups that sell for hundreds more, I decided to give the sonicake a try. I'm very impressed with the tone quality and effects from this small rig. Add a tuner and this makes a perfect set up for small or large gigs.aaaabo

The Mooer Acoustikar does pretty good. Take little tweaks to get it to do what it will do. Use it with my Gretsch hollow body electric g5122. I use the Acoustikar for rhythm and use the bridge pickup to help clarity and set the Acoustikar flat with the selector switch to normal or jumbo. Doesn't sound like an acoustic guitar but fills the part. Better than some others I've tried.timtim.mmvafuz2

I wanted a button to make me louder for solos etc. and this does exactly that without changing tone. Brilliantly simple: set how much volume jump you want and that’s it, I don’t think I have had the dial past 25% so far. The ‘latching’ function of the foot switch is a great idea. This pedal does exactly what it claims and does it better than other pedals of the same purpose. It is constructed extremely well. For around $50 this pedal's physical casing and switch assembly is made better than pedals I own costing hundreds of dollars more. I don't foresee this pedal ever needing replacement or repair. I'm not particularly fond of the "momentary volume boost" feature but that doesn't change my overall opinion. It's a great item.ethan1957

Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

I’ve been searching for multi effects/DI pedal to compliment my Weissenborn style acoustic guitar. My sound hole passive pickup does a great job except for a somewhat weak output. Enter The Zoom AC-3 to the rescue. Now I have output headroom to spare. Everything about it is top shelf. Extremely flexible effects (kudos to ZOOM for using knobs rather than menu driven). And, it’s build quality is terrific. Very solid unit. I’m very glad I decided to try the ZOOM AC-3. BTW, the AMS payment options are unbeatable!SC n NC

I needed a DI box that could also boost the signal to the PA for solos and the Zoom does that well; the stage tuner is helpful, though I still use headstock tuners from habit and have accidentally muted my guitar stepping on the tuner switch when I wanted the boost switch. Providing presets for guitar body style should be useful, but once an effect is chosen I'll likely stick with it and use the equalizer knobs instead. Rarely use reverb playing with other instruments through the PA. The anti-feedback function and lift button haven't been needed though that was a big problem with my old DI box. Not using batteries, but two AA ones probably wouldn't last long.Mike

The other effects sound amazing too, but I love the tape delay. What is amazing about this pedal is that it gets your little nuances and fixes them by smoothing them over. I should start by telling you all that i play modern metal, not classic rock or anything close. I bought this pedal a few years back hoping to squash out the hiss in my amp due to my use of an overdrive in front of the amp.I used it in front of my amp with a ts9 in its little effects loop. it was very difficult to get the start-stop quick djent style stuff i wanted without a feedback remnant always cutting in. also, there was a noticable amount of cut on any palm-muted notes and really any note played would not sustain naturally. any setting on the decay would not help. but, i had to have the threshold up pretty high to knock out the hiss. you must also know that i am using a horrific amount of gain with a 6505+. I have the post gain maxed out and most other things maxed out as well.After much research and saving, i invested in the isp decimater g-string. this product was on a whole other level. the things that the ns-2 lacked this thing just has. It senses when you are playing, instead of opening a gate when you play loud enough. Even with my extreme gain settings, overdrive in front, booster in the effects loop, and volume all the way up on my guitar, i can start-stop all day long just like periphery and animals as leaders. plus, my palm muted notes fade naturally as do normally fretted notes. Another thing i have recently learned is that the ns-2 manufacturing process uses lead free solder, whereas the ns-1 has lead based solder. This resulted in a big difference in signal integrity, and is very evident if you leave the pedal on bypass and play something, then removeit from the chain, and play something. it darkens the tone alot. In conclusion, if you want play the new styles of metal with all the gain and start-stop, buy the isp decimater g-string or pro rack g.MTloveit

This is a must have if you have a multitude of effects esp. overdrives, distortions at high gains and volume. Any nuance of movement on a string and the cats are climbing the curtains and your pissing off your neighbors 🙂 BUT! with this suppressor your sloppy metal play is crisp and tight full of clarity and your sound is cleaned up. It's a huge compliment to any pedal board. If your tired of excessive hum, buzzing or just white noise especially when using multiple pedals on a pedal board this is the solution. I mated mine with a BOSS LS-2 Line Selector pedal at the start of my pedal chain so every pedal is covered by it. It allows instant quiet after quick aggressive picking starts and stops while using heavy distortion. It's a "Fire and Forget" pedal for the most part if your running the same gear regularly. Sound: Initially this product was awesome. The price at 299 should make this pedal last. I know electronics go bad but when that happens the manufacturer should be accessible for repairs. So much for a year's warranty. Features: When working this is an awesome pedal. Acoustic resonance is fantastic . The vocal enhancer lets your voice sound fatter and broad. the harmonizer is fantastic. None of this matters when the pedal fails. Ease of Use: Sounds great when working. Quality: no Value: this product is not worth the price Manufacturer Support: I have dealt with this company with no response to getting the pedal repaired. They are not reliable. The Wow Factor: pedal looks great for a paper weight. Overall: I have had this pedal for less than a year. I have purchased many pedals and acoustic amps from Boss. The guitar channel has completely failed and the vocal is not performing as it did when I first got it probably because the guitar channel is causing a malfunction. Try getting the BOSS/ROLAND support. Impossible! I would not buy this again . I will look for other options. Customer service is the reason I will go elsewhere.Timothy

I've had the VE-8 for a few years and I recently realized how much of my time I've wasted. It take forever to get the harmonies dialed in where they don't get too glitchy, I wouldn't ever trust using this thing live. The presets are awkward to switch unless you want to used an external switch but then you're taking the use of the 2 external switch options so then when you switch keys you have to bend over, definitely not great for my bad back and it's too big to keep off the floor to make using the buttons easier, otherwise adjusting the on board guitar effects are a real pain. Most of all, this thing has a horrible hiss through any PA system or acoustic amp I have tried it with, fun to screw around with at home but would NEVER use live. On the plus side like all Boss pedals it's built like a tank.DRS

The VE-8 has been a game changer for me. It gives me the ability to add texture changes from a verse to a chorus, using the layers of the effects, the harmonies, and EQ changes. That makes my live solo performances much more interesting to perform and hear. The "under the hood" options on this thing are incredible, like the ability to globally EQ the guitar, the voice, and adjust things like input gain on the guitar, tremolo speed, delay times, etc. This thing is really well-thought out in what it offers the artist, and it's also easy and intuitive to operate at the surface level. The harmony section offers some very useful features, such as you can simply cue harmonies off the guitar chords, or designate the key, or a hybrid of the two. I have found that for some of my songs I like one method, but on others I prefer an alternate because of how the VE-8 creates harmonies for that specific song. The VE-8 provides lots of features, lots of flexibility, and seems extremely well thought through. I have also found the programming to be really efficient and easy to engage. Sometimes that's not true of stuff like this, and although I have years of audio engineering and studio experience, I hate being in the position of pushing buttons to get through menus, setting parameters, repeat, repeat, and all that. The VE-8 is so nicely knob-based that you really just need to check the manual to find the "entry key" commands, get into the parameters, change them easily, and voila, you're right back to playing. The VE-8 was a superb investment in my capacity to share my songs, music, and creativity with audiences. I highly recommend it.Christopher

I've had this pedal for about maybe 5 months, great pedal. The best thing to do is to always read your manual because this particular pedal shuts off. That feature is to save you battery power, or just being on too long when you walk away. I hadn't gotten use to that at first. It pays to read the manual to figure out how to do it. But the Selections in where the layout is for the different tones, for rock and roll, blues, heavy metal, and R&B is it great pedal.astringmusic

It' easy to blow an afternoon exploring the wide variety of sounds this pedal can produce. While many of the effects are great there are quite a few duds mixed in there. You just have to play. There doesn't seem to be that much logic as to how the effects are grouped. You really need to write down your favorites. Out of 100 effects I think almost anyone can find 20 that they really like. I was looking at purchasing a Helix LT and upon researching I came across the Pod Go Wireless. It does everything I required from the Helix but at less than half the price, size and weight. You can dial in some great tones, I use it through an 80w Marshall combi straight into the FX return (turning off the cab sim on the Pod) and it sounds very impressive. The amount of effects to choose from is incredible and you can tweak so many variables to get that perfect tone. The wah treadle is very good but it’s not so great when used as a volume pedal as it doesn’t seem to gradually increase/decrease the volume, it’s almost on/off. The wireless feature is very good, I’ve not had any connection issues and don’t have to worry about treading on my cable, which I’m very prone to. Overall, for what I need in a jamming/garage band capacity it is perfect and I’m very, very pleased with the purchase. PMT delivered the next day, it was very well packaged and was the best price I found on the internet.Martin M.

First impressions. Fast tracking and good options. Well laid out pedal. Would be more useful w/ different scales rather than just major modes, but the modes are a fun way to interact. Tone reproduction seems very synthetic. (Used on sax not guitar). The mash pitch bend is a great idea, however the tone of the harmonised notes is so plastic that it's not worth it for me. The Digitech DHP55 harmoniser i had in the mid 90s killed this. But that was a high end rack mount multiFX unit. Maybe on distorted guitar this would be a lot more effective. This is a well designed user friendly pedal at a great price that I'm sure will be a lot of fun for plenty of players. EDIT: those were first impressions on the day it arrived. After playing around a bit more today I found adding reverb after the Harmonizer really helped. Still sounds plasticy but its a fun effect. The modes setting is actually is a good way to interact. Tracking is superb and it also does a good job of harmonising chromatic/non diatonic notes.27jjk

Let me start with… The only good features of this pedal are the esthetics and nothing else. Having tried out other tc electronic models this is a real disappointment. The pedal features C D E F G A B tonal options with # toggle with and mash for infinite tonal possibilities however… When it comes to the scales it offers 10maj, Dorian, Phygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and a custom form if you ever get them to work in the toneprint app. From the harmony perspective it offers -6th, -4th, -3rd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 3rd and 5th, 3rd and 6th and 3 tone print options if you ever get to make them work. I downloaded the tone print app on my apple Mac and I never got it to work. However the iPhone and iPad apps work only if you invest on a 35$ on a convertor-cable. After careful playing around with then tone print app the toneprints never saved any of my custom presets. The minor thirds never latched on properly, the feel is plastic and not organic, even though it is a versatile pedal it really lacks in quality. The octave does not sound deep and round as other brands, the only good solid song are 5th or dual 5ths. I wanted to use this pedal for harmonizing either Iron Maiden or Queen riffs but I would suggest to jam it out with a buddy because this will definitely provide that sweet double guitar harmonized tone.Rickingo

Very helpful staff even while very busy with other customers. Was able to try both the Fender Downtown Express and the Fly Rig V2. Yes the Fly Rig was more expensive but it also had more features. I bought this because I'm a huge fan of the RK5 Fly Rig, but I wanted something that was programmable and MIDI controllable, to integrate with my pedalboard. The PSA2 does all that perfectly but it's the sounds that have blown me away. It sounds incredible. Every Marshall tone is achievable and authentic, so are Fender and Mesa tones, and anything in between. And it really responds well to picking dynamics, and when you back off the volume on the guitar it cleans up perfectly. And…it just feels and sounds better than digital – my HX Stomp is now for effects only. I couldn't be happier, it's exactly what I needed. Thoroughly recommended!rossmacrae777

My favourite things about this unit are as follows : 1. The amount of usable presets out the box. Even the more whacky ones can generally be quickly tweaked into something usable. Other brands tend to fill their presets with ridiculous over the top high gain, and what I would call low budget sci-fi sound effects. Boss have done a good job with the GT1. 2. Ease of editing. While you can access the effects chain easily through the menu system, the buttons along the top physically represent a typical effects chain. Press and hold for a second on any one and you are straight into the effect behind it for easy editing or changing to a different effect. Negatives: lack of an on/off switch. It switches on by plugging in an instrument cable – minor annoyance but that's just me. Only other thing is no battery indicator, and I seriously doubt the 7hr battery life claim. The supplied ones died after about 2-3 hrs and the duracells I replaced them with haven't fared much better. I do have a power supply but wanted to see how the battery's would hold up if I had to do a gig on them. Probably wouldn't trust them and would carry two sets as backup rather than one.David B.

This is overall a great pedal. This will give you a wide variety of tones and effects that you can personalize for whatever music you play. Other pedals will offer maybe one tone and you may have to try different ones and might not be happy with them or have to buy multiple ones and spend lots of money to have a well set up pedal board. You can literally spend all day picking out distortion pedals and feel lost on where to go. With this you can go through a wide variety and set it up however you want and save the settings. This isn't some plug and play kinda pedal. You will need to spend time with it and get to know it. It is kinda confusing and there are YouTube videos that help as well. The sounds are decent for the price. I downloaded all three pdfs are they are basically useless when it comes to setting up patches, adding an external pedal and the overall operation. I gave up on trying to assign functions to the FS-6 I bought with it. There are no real explications how to use the 6 assignment functions. I think the headphone output is mono as I can only hear in one ear. You can get some decent patches off of tone exchange I'll probably sell it .Kenneth

Sound: The sound on this board is amazing, I fee it’s also very responsive to your playing and you get that responsive feedback. Makes me feel like it’s easier and more joyful to play my guitar. I will say this you have to tweak settings to get your sound typically the pre made ones aren’t the best. Overall: Ok so first off I’m new to this thing, I never thought I get away from tube amps, but….this headrush caught my attention and I love it! I like the simplicity of it and it produces great models plus sounds really authentic for what it does. I will recommend pairing with headrush frfr108 or frfr 12 or a frfr (Full range flat response) speaker instead of an amp. That way you get the absolute most out of this. I got the headrush frfr108 and it’s sounds amazing! too. As far as the headrush’s competition I haven’t used them yet. But end of the day it’s all personal preference. First off, DO NOT judge the tones of this pedalboard by the preset rigs, they're pretty bad. Build new rigs from scratch and you will discover what this unit is capable of producing. It's not overloaded with every effect pedal out there, but there is more than enough to get any tone you want from Jazz, Country, Rock, Metal, and Blues. For overdriven and distorted tones, it may seem like you only have a few pedals to choose from, but once you combine them with all the various amps, cabs, mics, and impulse responses, you have hundreds of tones in your sound pallet. As for modulation and delay effects, it has all you need to produce any tone. Real Amps and FX Loop – In addition, you can use any of your favorite effects in the FX loop of the pedalboard. It also works great with tube amps and can work in a "four wire" setup with your modulation and delay effects going through the amplifiers FX loop. You can also run into the PA and to a stage tube amp simultaneously. Virtual Amps and IR's – The amps and impulse responses sound fantastic. I have several vintage tube amps and I am able to reproduce the same tones of mic'ing up those amps from this pedalboard directly to the PA or a recording desk. It has the easiest user interface of any of the pedalboards out there. If you can use a smartphone or tablet, this will be very easy to learn. One of the best features is the ability to assign the footswitches to any pedal or multiple pedals (scene function), or do either toggle or momentary mode. In addition, the mini screens for each footswitch change when you assign it to different pedals so it's easy to see what effects you are turning on and off in live performance. In addition, you can name a scene footswitch anything you want (e.g. Clean, Crunch, Solo, etc.). Makes live performance very easy, no more stomp pedal dancing. Set Lists – Organizing rigs into set lists to match your gigs and you can organize your rigs into groups based on type, song, genre, etc.Tod

Overall: First of all, I am pretty sold school when it comes to amps and effects. A simple tube amp pushed with a couple of tube screamers, the on board reverb from the amp itself, and some modulation like delay and chorus. I joined a band a few years back that was about to go into the studio to record an album the year before covid struck. As a result, I ended up buying a Pod HD500X as a way to try to consolidate the effects that I might need all in one unit. I used it mainly as a "pedal board" in front of the [tube] amp as if it were my old analog board full of individual pedals. Needless to say, the recording project got pushed back because of the pandemic, and I was stuck at home, with a lot of time to play around with the processor. It was "good" but it left me wanting an easier to use option. As you could imagine, what that kind of time on my hands, I did a lot of floating around the internet just looking at possible modelers. All of the names. Kemper, Helix, Axe FX, Fractal, and this HeadRush board. Out of everything that was out there, the HeadRush board seemed to be VASTLY easier to try to figure out. Pushing my late 40s now, I don't really 'enjoy' learning new technology the way I did in my teens and twenties, so I didn't want a steep learning curve just to be able to use this thing. I spent a day while it was being shipped looking over youtube tutorials as to how to use it. Only took me a few hours of messing around with it once it got here to dial in the tone that I had on the HD500X. If you can use your cell phone, you can figure this board out. The effects sound convincing and the amp models really seem as good as the competition's offerings (even if this board doesn't have quite as many jammed into it). We are about three weeks out from going in to start laying down the guide tracks for this LP [finally], and this will make things much easier to navigate when each little tone will be more heavily scrutinized. The ability to tweak it on the fly will save time (and thus MONEY) in that studio environment. No deep dives into large menus to try to make a minor adjustment. Gives me a lot more freedom to just try to play my parts instead of worrying about the setup itself. I think this board is a bit underrated as far as the amps and cabs as well. I still will be running it to my amplifier and mic-ing it up as I do still like the "feel" that tubes give when playing. But who knows, I may use some of the sims as well. Built like a tank. A bit heavier than I had expected. Should hold up well under live applications (though that was actually not a problem with the 500X either). I highly recommend this unit if you want to get something that doesn't take a degree from Berklee in sound engineering to get started making music.Kenneth

I bought this used through Guitar Center to boost the output of my Eastman 815 acoustic-electric mandolin, which has an internal microphone but was too quiet. I'm a hobbyist but play in worship settings. I was able to EQ the output to sound like the natural mandolin tone and to boost the volume which was important to me, since, on occasion, I play outdoors or in a large church sanctuary. The tuner is a great asset, making clip-on tuners unnecessary. The tone boost gives the mandolin even more volume for those times when you want to play a solo. The unit runs on a 9V battery or a 9v DC adapter. I happened to own already own a 9v DC adapter, and it gave the unit much more power than the battery, which was great. I definitely recommend getting a 9v DC adapter. This was a good buy!Jamie

You can literally spend all day picking out distortion pedals and feel lost on where to go. With this you can go through a wide variety and set it up however you want and save the settings. This isn't some plug and play kinda pedal. You will need to spend time with it and get to know it. It is kinda confusing and there are YouTube videos that help as well. The sounds are decent for the price. I downloaded all three pdfs are they are basically useless when it comes to setting up patches, adding an external pedal and the overall operation. I gave up on trying to assign functions to the FS-6 I bought with it. There are no real explications how to use the 6 assignment functions. I think the headphone output is mono as I can only hear in one ear. You can get some decent patches off of tone exchange I'll probably sell it .Kenneth

Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

The Mosaic pedal is easy to use, and produces a realistic 12 string effect. It comes with it's own power supply, and I recommend using it as it seems to use quite a lot of energy to produce the effect. When I first connected it in my chain, powered by the wimpy Snark power supply, it didn't really work. The light came on when I pressed the on/off button, but the effect wasn't happening. Then I used the power supply that came with it. Suddenly, out came the shimmering sound of an electric 12 string. In short, it might not sound like a Rickenbacker, but its close enough, and much less expensive. If you want the sound of a 12 string, but don't want to spend the money, this may be the perfect substitute.jonaha650

Overall: Ive been using my Roland Gr-55 (w/ GK-3) to add 12 string shimmer to my sound for years. This little box is amazing! Tracking is impeccable, and the controls are so simple I was up and running within seconds! The metal box is sturdily built, and COMES with a muscular 9v, 1.3amp power supply(?!?!) Switching is silent, and the effect tracks tonal changes between pickups well enough that once dialed in, I dont need to touch the tone knob. If I get insanely picky, I kinda wish there was a separate out for the 12string sound, but that would negatively affect the affordable price and kind of defeat the 1 pedal= 2 instrument simplicity. If you never ever wished you had a 12 string, but it antway! You'll see what you've been missingDennis

I have both a 6 string and 12 string Rickenbacker. I don't normally like to take my 12 string gigging because I've got enough other gear to haul around and the 12 string is only used on a few songs. Plus all the associated issues with tuning, string replacement, swapping guitars, etc. The Mosaic does a pretty credible job of making my six string sound like a 12 string. It does not produce a perfect reproduction, but I find it good enough that I'm using it regularly. Considering the technology needed to generate the 12 string sound from a six string instrument, I'm actually very impressed that it does a good a job as it does. And the fact that it is polyphonic is icing on the cake. I've used electronic harmonizers to try and duplicate a 12 string sound, but they always failed in two areas. You could not play chords and the high B and E strings sounded just awful because the harmonizer would try and play notes an octave above on those strings as well (usually rendering this approach useless).. I found that the Mosaic gives a pretty credible 12 string reproduction on the E, A, D, and G strings. Fortunately the upper B and E strings do not get the octave treatment. They remain with the original pitch, but they don't quite have the full tonal resonance of a true 12 string. It isn't bad, just not quite perfect. All in all, I feel its a good product, does a good enough job and I'm happy with the 12 string emulation. I think its a credible option to consider if you need a 12 string sound, but can't justify the cost and issues of owning a true 12 string.bgb92549
