It doesnt have any bass instruction element and assumes you have a basic knowledge of tab or musical notation, so you may want to get the bass course book if you are not familiar with that. Die Beispiele sind nicht „Off-the-Record“ notiert, also notengenau wie auf CD, sondern stellen die prinzipielle Begleitung dar, so dass man sich nicht in detaillierten Verzierungen und Variationen verliert. Obschon es auch dazu Übungen gibt. Die CD kling gut und die ausgezeichneten Gitarrenspuren hat Friedland selbst eingespielt. Alle Achtung! Nach Durcharbeiten dieses Buches muss sich der leicht fortgeschrittene Bass-Anfänger vor keiner Blues-Session mehr fürchten.
I have bought "self help" books in the past and been disappointed, but when I opened this book and played with the inclosed cd, I was impressed. I have been playing other styles on my bass, but had never ventured into the blues. This book, if followed, will show how you can actually sound decent with the play along in just a couple of sessions. You just can't play and go on, if you are a beginner, but do have to practice the exercises. The cd really helps you hear this. Ich bin Fortgeschrittener und habe in Ergänzung zu den Beispielen in meiner Bass-Schule noch weitere Grooves verschiedener Styles gesucht und genau das liefert das Buch in unterschiedlichen Schwierigkeitsgraden. Einzig den relativ umfangreichen Teil über Electronic Dance Music hätte ich in einem Buch für E-Bass nicht gebraucht. Looking for some beginner's bass material to learn. Title seemed great. Material obscure, the only track I had ever heard of was an old Beatles number from the 60s "Taxman" (not exactly number 1 material even for the Beatles) no chummy "how to do it explanation" No CD supplied, "playalong" involved some sort of coding to access tracks via the internet, to much for me. Fine printed music staves plus tab and not much else.drjohnservant
