I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.pchapm

It's a beautiful guitar and really well made. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it. I don't know anything about guitars as I'm a pianist myself, but her guitar teacher was absolutely delighted with it. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the upgrades. I can definitely see it lasting her as it feels really solid, and the knobs and twiddly bits etc feel really solid. I genuinely can't get over how nice it is. The model 1449 reissue from silvertone features a comfortable c shaped neck with a comfortable 12 inch radius and two way truss rod for accurate adjustment. the single coil lipstick pickups are wound to the same specs as the original and the lipstick case provides excellent shielding for low noise and high signal. the upgraded fully adjustable bridge loads the strings through the body for great response and thick resonant tone. one of the most clever and well known concepts in the early ‘60s guitar boom was the silvertone amp-in-case guitar. just open the case half way, stand it up, switch it on and wail! the original guitar in the 1962 kit was a single pickup, short neck model. a year later the two pickup 1449 was introduced and the amp-in-case really took off. the 1449 is the most-rare of the breed, being replaced by the almost identical red burst 1457 in 1964. this guitar screams.

Overall: Saw this little gem and had to have it! Ordered on a Thursday afternoon and was delivered Saturday morning- aside during a snowstorm! What you see (in my case) was a black Stratocaster knock-off and what I got was black Stratocaster knock. The quality is decent (downright great for the price). but of course, that means although the basic guitar is well mased the hardware and pickups are not of stellar quality. If you expected anything else you must be crazy. The guitar arrived in good shape … I put on new strings and straightened the neck, then checked the intonation which was good… This is an EXCELLECT beginner's electric guitar. I have been playing for 50 years and I bought this guitar to practice my guitar repair skills. I will pull all the frets and re-radius the neck then refret the guitar and perhaps replace the pickups. If you buy one of these, be sure have a luthier (guitar builder/repair person) set it up for you if you don't know how to do that for yourself. These are great low-end guitars but (like any other guitar) they do need a setup. I am old enough to remember all the bad ( as in almost unplayable) beginner's guitars from back in the day. Now with CNC machining the quality of the low-end guitar market has increased greatly and this guitar is the result. The beginner can now get a decent guitar at a decent price. Amazing shipping, Ordered 12/22, arrived 12/26, a SUNDAY, even in our historic supply chain crisis. If I'd known they'd be so fast, I'd have ordered a day or two sooner to have it here for the little ones on Christmas. Everything as expected, except not a trace of the blue burst shown on the website; just solid blue. Pretty color, seems well done, but lost a lot without the burst. The biggest problem is that the bridge (a 6-screw version) is mounted off-center towards the treble side. This means the bass strings are way in on the neck, and the treble strings are close to the edge. Also, they don't line up right with the pickups. (see photos). I hope that's not a problem, it'd be a real bear to fix, and given the automated production of a unit like this, a replacement would probably be the same. Neck has a satin finish, knobs all work smoothly, no scratchies, arranged as Volume, Neck Tone, Center Tone. The selector switch feels stiff but solid. Jack nut seems tight (always seems to be a weak point in electrics) but we'll see for how long. I like the block saddles. I doubt I'm going to gig with this one (I play upper-tier Strats mostly) but it seems like the perfect "bathroom guitar" or kids guitar, certainly better than the plywood crap I learned on. A great replacement for Squier Affinity that now costs $249 street. I wanted a guitar to tinker with, and I sure got one. New strings, tuners, pups… fun for me and the grandkids. I won't save money when it's all done, but the experience for me and them will be golden.New User
I bought this a little over a month ago, and I play it every day. I'm a beginning guitar player, and I'm happy with my purchase. The reviews I read prior to buying this varied: some said it was flawless, others found multiple problems. It appears that while it is an overall good value, the individual guitars may vary in quality. I haven't had a "set up" done on it yet, so I've been playing it just "out of the box" and I'm impressed with the sound and playability. Pros: Looks good. Sounds good. The little practice amp that came with it sounds very nice, and you're not gonna play a bar gig with it, but it's sufficient for practicing at home or even in a garage jam. It's built to upgrade over time, so you can easily customize it how you like. Cons (bearing in mind this is just "out of the box" with no setup): The frets are installed inconsistently. Some frets are flush to the edge of the fretboard, a few are a bit short of the edge, and others stick out past the edge, making it difficult and painful to slide your hands down the fretboard. (See the photo.) This doesn't seem to affect the sound. There's a light intonation issue on the higher strings: a perfectly tuned E on the open string gets to be a sharp E in the 12th fret (so it's about halfway between an E and an F), but this could probably be fixed with a proper set up. Very minor issue: the strap that comes with it is AWFUL. It's thin, it's itchy, it has no pick holders, and the slots to go into the buttons on the guitar don't lock well. Very minor issue: the gig bag is flimsy. Consistent with the reviews I read before buying this, it is definitely worth the money if you are a beginning guitar player or are looking to customize your own guitar over time. The sound is good out of the box and it's a great guitar that can grow with you as you grow as a musician. The quality of individual components (the finish, the frets, etc.) may vary a bit from item to item, which is to be expected at this price point.New User

Overall: This is my umpteenth Epiphone custom sg guitar ive bought since the last guitar i had which was the more lower end 61 standard i bought here used last year. The caps pots and Gibson USA burstbuckers are definitely a step up in the right direction and are true to the original reissue Sg standards back in the beginning of the Gibson sg. It sounds like a 2000 dollar Gibson reissue sg but at Epiphone import prices. I intend on keeping this guitar for a lifetime and is a good backup guitar to my similarly pricef esp ltd viper 1000 deluxe i bought a year ago from a competitor in the now disconnected tiger eye finish from zZounds. Lastly i also intend on getting a real Gibson sg custom 63 version used for a discounted price. One more thing i might buy a backup les Paul sg standard by Epiphone just in case this one gets stolen or lost. Thank you Epiphone custom for stepping up your game and making better sg custom shop guitars than in the past. I got this guitar in sparkling burgundy and the finish is beautiful. The workmanship on this guitar is great; it feels very high quality. The fretwork is also really good, with no fret ends sticking out to cut my hands. That being said, the pickups are not very good. I initially debated purchasing the guitar since it sounded very ice-picky and thin when I played it in the store. But I decided to take a chance, knowing the return policy that GC has. I brought it home and the first thing I did was go over it completely. The fretboard was very dry. Even my wife, who doesn't play guitar, looked at it and commented on that. So removed the strings and polished the frets and cleaned/conditioned the fretboard. Then I swapped out the Alnico Classic Pro pickups, which are rather bad, and put in a set of Probucker 2/3 pickups that I had sitting around. Better strings, polished frets, and some nicer alnico 2 pickups made a huge difference. It sounds full and thick and warm, and it plays like an angel. I highly recommend it, as long as you can swap out the pickups.Robert
I've had the guitar for almost a month now & decided to do the review after I had it for a while. Quality control on this guitar was not very good. There was a chip by the 22nd fret near the upper horn that was overlooked because it has the final coating sprayed over it. There is also a scratch on the headstock at the G string tuner, it looks like someone overtightened the nut & scrated the headstock with a nut driver. Plus there is some black paint that ran into the binding on the top part of the headstock. Also there is a nick/scratch on the pickguard right below the neck pickup. The guitar plays well, and it looks good except for the imperfections I expalined earlier. I took pictures of what I complained in case someone at AMS would like to see them. I'm not sure of the return policy for guitars or if this could be returned for another guitar of the same kind I have. In the end the playability has met expectations but the quality control was far below expectations. Im really digging this guitar. I needed a travel guitar for some upcoming trips and went through the rungs. Tried the martin backpacker and traveler rm sp, but neither met my needs. The martin limits you to 15 frets and the rm sp wasnt that much smaller than my Taylor GS mini. Weve got a young one and traveling with him brings a whole slew of extra things that have to be included in a trip. My wife was not having us give up one of our carry-ons for a guitar and case. The ultra-light is perfect, and I can throw it in my back pack (in its case) with just a little of the neck hanging out. Thus, not having to give up a carry-on. Its perfect. Went with the electric too over the acoustic/electric version because of the tune-o-matic type bridge and saddles. Stellar product. Lastly, the size and sound unplugged are perfection for playing around on with others in the room and not bothering them. It actually makes me play more now.
I never knew why some guitarists have a favorite guitar and even name them. (I own several higher-end guitars and to me, they're just tools.) I purchased a black Traveler Ultra-Light some time in 2019 thinking it was a "cheapie" but good enough to stuff in an overhead bin of an airliner whenever I traveled. I was certainly impressed at how the guitar played and how well it was made, despite the low price. Since then it's been with me everywhere. But that's not how it came to be my favorite guitar. Last November I was hospitalized for 4 days. Because of Covid going around, I couldn't have visitors so I asked my wife to bring me my Traveler so I wouldn't be bored to death. That's when I fell in love with this little guitar. Because I had my own room and because my vitals were checked every hour, I spent a LOT of time playing. And because of its size and how light it was, I could play it in bed. AND it kept my mind off of what I was going through… a big plus for the road to recovery. Today, I purchased my second one in Torino Red and ordered some blacked-out locking tuners so I can keep it at my other place out of state. As for the black one, I'm not leaving that anywhere…. it's staying here with me!
I love this little guitar. I bought mine from the GC store. I have Taylor GS mini for my RV, but it's still too big and too loud in a small rv with others. I saw the Traveller guitars and thought I'd go to a GC and try it out. I'm too new at this so got the GC sales person to play so I could hear the difference using a big amp. The ones with the pickups were hot and a little bitey for me as I only really play acoustic. The Piezo pickup acoustic sounded mellow and it was on the guitarathon sale for 100 dollars off. That tipped it for me. It's small, extremely light and when unplugged, extremely quite quiet. It's so small, I'm finding that I pick up this one more than the regular guitars. Bear in mind, it's not acoustic or electric, so it's not going to sound like anything else. I bought a headphone amp and also use a regular amp when I can be loud. When practicing unplugged at night, it's loud enough for me, but nobody else can hear it. Also, I've found that if I press it tightly to my side, the lower notes reverberate in my chest. With the acoustic pickup there is no tone or volume controls, so everything has to be done through the amp. I'm getting used to that. With no body and only the wire bottom, it takes a little time before it begins to feel normal. The only negative is if I don't hit the notes perfect, I can get some fret buzz. All in all, it's so different from any other guitar, I would suggest trying it in person first. You will either love it or hate it. And remember it's a small travel guitar you can also use regularly. Play it both amplified and unplugged and see if you think it will work for you.Mike

I have previously played and owned only long scale basses. Have always wanted to try a short scale. Went to my local GC and tried a few they had in house. The short scale Sterling was a nice looking bass but the fret work was terrible. Based on reading other reviews I took a risk and ordered a Squire CV 60 Mustang. It is a beautiful instrument. Arrived in great condition with absolutely no flaws. Finish is great, Fretwork is great, string action and intonation were nearly perfect. Hard to believe that Squire can make an instrument like this for such a reasonable price.Jim
I have always wanted a short-scale Fender and decided to pull the trigger on the Squire CV version. Being a Gibson player, the 25.5 scale length always threw me off but this Mustang is very easy to play/swap between my Les Paul and 335's. The single-coil tones are great and certainly a contrast to the humbuckers & P90's I usually play. To be 100% honest, you better have some skills in setting up guitars and polishing frets or be prepared to pay a tech to get these guitars to their full potential. I had to completely polish the frets and fiddle for weeks to get the action to my liking. A neck shim is almost essential to get any height on the bridge and provide enough downward pressure to keep things intonated. I have no idea why Fender doesn't do this on all Mustang's, Jazzmasters and Jaguars since this is a very well-known issue. Once dialed in and frets polished up, this Mustang is a little tone monster.Jason F
Sound: It's a classic Mustang sound. Ease of Use: The Mustang bass was originally made for younger players and students, but it has a serious professional following as well. Quality: The only problem initially was rough fret ends which were quickly taken care of. Look for pro advice online as to how to do this. Value: Because I owned one before, I feel this is worth the selling price. Manufacturer Support: No contact with Fender about any concerns. Unless it's something out of my ability I'll handle it myself. The Wow Factor: When I first saw the "Vintage Vibe" Mustang bass, it owned me. Overall: I've owned one before and had to sell it. Incredible instrument. I've always preferred short scale basses because they're so much fun to play. Had to buy this one. I like playing this bass more than my 2001 American Series Precision bass! I've had this one for about 4 months now and I am pretty happy with it. Build Quality is excellent, finish is excellent, overall feel is great. the Wilkinson Trem is way better than others with the sharp adjustment screws that always seem to stick up and stab my palm, I have a tendency to play with my palm resting on the trem and I always end up pulling the saddles and clipping the adjustment screws shorter to keep them from sticking out the top. This is not an issue on this bridge. The push in trem bar is nice, not sloppy like a screw in type. It's very comfortable to play. Pots are quiet and not scratchy, switch feels solid and not cheap like some others out there. Frets are clean and not sharp, ends aren't dressed to perfection but it plays comfortably. Neck finish is a little sticky after playing for a while but that's the nature of a gloss neck. Overall awesome guitar if your looking for very bright Strat type tones. The tone is very bright though, pickups break up nicely under gain and sounds good in all positions. Yamaha makes a great instrument and are often underrated, I Would recommend this one for sure
Absolutely love the guitar. Color is a lot more subtle in person than in pictures online. Plays smooth right out the box, looks and feels amazing. Neck is quite similar to a strat but gets flatter near the neck. Only reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because when I unboxed it and inspected it there was a scuff on the headstock. It isn't noticeable from a distance but definitely something I'm not happy about. Other than that it plays great, looks great, feels great 🙂Julieanne

Having previously purchased a lemon drop second hand I was impressed with the vintage brand. I've previously owned custom shop guitars by Fender and Gibson so have perspective on how "good ones" should sound. The v6 was ordered from Richard as I enjoyed his YouTube videos and liked the thought of the guitar being essentially hand picked and set up prior to delivery. Richards pricing is not the cheapest but it does ensure that the guitar you receive plays as well as it possibly can. The guitar itself arrived in tune, set up to my specifications with a blocked trem and 10 gauge strings. The finish was flawless and the fact vintage spec the correct woods for these guitars (alder and maple) really sold me. It has a full size tremblock, bent steel saddles and sounds like a good strat should. The Wilkinson pickups in the lemon drop where excellent paf approximations and the single coils are no exception. Plus the bridge is wired to the second tone pot which is something I always do as I tend to roll off the treble when soloing. The guitar is also very light and can be played comfortably for hours. Packing was top notch. Double boxed. Comms excellent and I would wholeheartedly recommend purchasing from Richard again. In fact I have Gas for a Eastman Les Paul in 2020😊Matt S.
If you've ever put a guitar together from after market parts, even 2nd hand, its doesn't take long to rack up an expense. For Richard to offer this guitar for £287 with a full setup is quite extraordinarily extraordinary. The QC on this one is exceptional from Vintage and despite thorough inspection I cannot find any flaws at all. It is a very lightweight guitar, slightly neck heavy, so I'd recommend purchasing a good quality leather strap to prevent slippage. The highlight of the VS6 would be the neck which is a wide C profile and very enjoyable to play. The setup from Richard again is exceptional and you really have to applaud the effort invested making these very affordable guitars so playable. On that note, I would also recommend that these are perfect guitars to learn some basic setup skills on; though very well setup I have made small adjustments as can be expected as you break a guitar in. All in all, a great value guitar which Richard and his team have helped punch well above its weight.Jordan T.

I've had this guitar for about 10 months, and it's great! It's everything you'd come to expect from the ESP LTD line. But the big question is, "How's that bridge?" My motivation for buying this specific guitar was my unending frustration with the floating tremolo on my previous guitar. We started jumping back and forth between standard and dropped D in our set, and making that work with a FR was a nightmare. With that, I had set out on finding a non-FR or fixed bridge, since I rarely used the trem' anyway. I had always wanted an ESP and the idea of each saddle being independent of one another was compelling. It can take a little to get used to, though. Tuning is done at the bridge, and the tension on the strings is adjusted by the tuning pegs. Once the string has the right amount of tension, that saddle will be "activated" in what is referred to as "zone 2". Here, the springs will counter any additional tension applied to that string up to a given point. This means that you cannot do bends or change the pitch in any real or easy way. Some people may like this, but it feels very odd, and the people at Evertune know that most people don't play like this. So, to get the best of both worlds, you will need to apply enough tension on the saddle to bring it right up to the edge of zone 2 by turning the tuning pegs. What I found to be helpful here is to not just listen for the note to change, but to pull on the string and visually inspect movement in the saddle. Once this is set, it feels like a normal guitar with just a tad more tension on the strings. The guitar will come with 10-gauge strings. I gave that a shot for a while. Only recently did I switch them out for some 9s. I think it feels a lot better with a lighter gauge string, especially considering that tad bit of tension. A tip I learned regarding Dropped D was to tune the guitar down by default. Then tune up the low E, which puts that saddle into "zone 3". This is far easier than the reverse and stiJohn Q. I ordered this Bass as I wanted a more modern fretless than my Jazz and decided on a 5. I was first impressed by the exotic finish of these Basses but skeptical on quality at this price. I needn't have worried. I honestly do not know how ESP maintain this kind of fantastic quality/price. Out of the box the maple cap looks great if you like a natural wood finish. I could not find a single cosmetic flaw. The Bass is slightly neck-heavy due to the light weight body but it sits well on a strap. The hardware seems solid enough and looks cool. My Bass was well set-up but other reviews say the contrary. The strings are D'addario Rounds as listed so you may want to change these out for flats if you wish to avoid scratches on the roasted Jatoba fingerboard (they used to be Rosewood). The active threeband eq plus passive pan pot give a lot of tone scope. The only negative point to my ears is that I would like a touch more sustain but all in all consider these Basses before going for a Rockbass.
I have been playing guitar for six years and am a massive fan of hot humbuckers and EMGs. This LTD does not disappoint and is easily my best guitar (next to my Solar s1.6pb27, which also sports an EverTune bridge). The LTD MH1000's body looks great, neck feels great, frets are smooth and it stays in tune extraordinarily well with the EverTune bridge. It is extremely easy to set this guitar up yourself due to the bridge; I didn't have to take it to a shop before I started recording with it. Excellent value.

I started taking lessons again after a long break. I bought this to take with me on my trips, as an airline pilot I'm on the road constantly. It's perfect to sit in my hotel and play, and the size makes it easy to travel with. The neck is a great size and the action right out of the box was perfect. I can plug in the headphone amp and play no matter what time of the day or night it is. I'm glad I picked this up.
I have always wanted a guitar small enough and rugged enough to take on deployments and military exercise. It is quiet enough to play in open bay barracks while others sleep, or I can tune out the clowns and play in my rack using the stethophone headset. This Pro-series Traveler Guitar is everything I was looking for. As a bonus it has already stood up to the beatings of my 3 year old son who broke my last guitar within 24 hours of purchase. I don't think I will ever need another guitar; but you know how it goes.
Ordered this because I do a lot of traveling for work and play. Hated taking my main guitars on any trip due to theft and damage risk. This beauty is just what the doctor ordered. I originally had Sweetwater put heavier electric strings on it to toughen up the sound. Big mistake. Changed the strings to light acoustic bronze ones from Elixir, and that made it nearly perfect! The stethophone is my favorite method of playing. The true acoustic sound is as huge as my Ovation Celebrity Elite, without the volume to disturb others. When I plug in a VOX headphone amp or other headphone, the pickup cranks out like a Strat on bridge position. When plugged into a serious amp, all doubts about this guitar's capabilities disappear immediately. The sound is everything any of my Strats or SGs can pump out, period. I would gladly play this axe in any situation. The quality is excellent. I have had it for about 4 years now, and I never travel without it. Even on a motorcycle trip, it can be easily carried in backpack mode or strapped to saddlebags. When strapped to the saddlebags, it does not interfere with riding in any way. Would give 10 stars if I could!

I understand this is a 99 USD guitar and you are doing your best to keep the price low to make it affordable to many but…two issues I have noticed from the get go. A minor issue is related to the frets edges which were sharp, I played it a bit to realize it had scratched my hand in a way that I'm still waiting for those scratches to heal, in the meantime I have used a file to smooth the edges, so that can be considered fixed, would be great if you could take care of smoothen it before shipping, the first impression is always the most important and believe me those edges impress, negatively. The major issue are the tuners, very low quality and don't keep the tune, in my particular case the G tuner didn't work as expected and most of the tuners are not precise at all, I bought the Grover 6-in-line mini rotomatics for 60 USD, I hope that'll fix it. FYI, I bought this to experiment with a GK-3 installation so I'm using it for my Frankenstein tests. Best regards.
I normally am apprehensive on any discount guitar simply because the "standard" is usually considerably more. And that in some ways still holds true. But if you want to play and you don't have hundreds to drop on an entry level guitar, this one exceeds expectations. Bought for my son to start learning and he loves it. He wanted a red Strat and being 6 I didn't want to buy a pricey unit to start. This was the cheapest guitar on the website and I am still smiling at the choice. It feels solid, neck allows for good fret progression and allows for smooth transition. One thing I am very impressed with is that it holds tuning. Very rare in this price point. It could use finishing touches like tightening screws on the pick ups and smoother fret wires, but nothing to deny it's value and favorable playability. For the price it still wins the day. If I had extra money I would try their Telecaster version for myself, that is how impressed I am. Keep improving the product, you're on the right track to introduce more people to music. I like the exceptionally light weight (that's why I bought this guitar), and tones from middle and neck pickup are nice. Problems include: sharp ends of the frets need to be filed down, fret heights are uneven so the frets need dressing (i.e., sanding) to avoid buzzing with strings at a reasonable height, bridge pickup is exceptionally harsh (I replaced it), neck is far too thick unless you have enormous hands (I wear large size men's gloves), and nut grooves bind strings and prevent proper tuning (some grooves need enlargement). In comparison, of these problems, the $100 strat from Monoprice has only an excessively thick neck. In sum, this guitar is not completely finished and has a very thick neck. If you will finish it yourself and replace the bridge pickup–and you have very large hands or can plane and sand the neck thinner–this guitar is a reasonable purchase and is worth 3 stars. Otherwise, this is no substitute for a finished guitar and is worth 1 star. I spent 15 minutes sanding the frets, 1.5 hrs planing and refinishing the neck, a half hour replacing the bridge pickup (I already had a good replacement), and 10 minutes adjusting the nut grooves. All that remains is fixing the sharp fret ends.

Eines vorweg, diese Gitarre gebe ich erst wieder her, wenn sie mir einer aus meinen kalten Händen sägt. Über Aussehen lässt sich bekanntlich streiten, mir gefällt diese ungewöhnliche Optik wahnsinnig gut. Vor zehn Jahren hatte ich mal das Vergnügen mit Robert Godin zu plaudern, auf der Frankfurter Musikmesse. Ein sehr netter Typ. Aber seine Gitarren waren nie nach meinem Geschmack. Die Radiator gab es damals noch nicht, und sie fiel mir erst kürzlich durch Zufall ins Auge. Was soll ich sagen, es war Liebe auf den ersten Chord. Die Gitarre kam super eingestellt hier an, Lieferung und Gedöns alles perfekt. Danke an den Store. Ich spiele die Gitarre hauptsächlich im Open Tuning zum Sliden. Dafür finde ich sie perfekt. Aber auch zum normalen Einsatz ist sie klasse. Fetter Crunch Sound, Wärme und smooth im Clean-Modus, Verzerrt allerdings eine Mörder-Klampfe, für die man einen Waffenschein bräuchte. Einziges Manko: wieso liefert Godin so ein Instrument in einem Schüler-Gigbag aus, und nicht in einem kanadischen Qualitäts-Koffer. Der Eindruck einer Billig-Gitarre wird dadurch kurzfristig geweckt, was dem guten Stück aber eindeutig nicht gerecht wird. Absolute Kaufempfehlung.

Great little guitar for grabbing on the fly, and playing without disturbing anyone, anytime, anyplace. Has enough adjustment to set up for good playability, and the build quality is good. The 4 internal amp modes are good enough to practice a variety of styles, albeit without any gain adjustment (only volume and tone). The only drawback so far is that it doesn't seem to allow for bypass of the amplifier to get a natural analog signal out to a separate amp or other interface. It seems to require the powered internal amp at all times, even in the "bypass/clean" setting. Removing the batteries kills the output signal altogether, even in the "bypass/clean" setting, which I expected to default to passive electronics. This is majorly disappointing since the noise picked up through the small internal amp is always injected into the signal no matter what. They need to add a bypass switch which allows for passive operation when desired or necessary. Don't run out of batteries at your gig!
I wanted something small, not so much for travel but for playing around the house. My main requirements were that it was comfortable to play seated, well balanced without a strap, and small enough to play on the couch. The headphone preamp was the main feature that made me decide on this model over the others. Turns out it's actually comfortable to play seated, and an unexpected bonus is not having the headstock, I can set it down pretty much anywhere without worrying about knocking it out of tune. I also find the tuners to be more convenient than the normal arrangement, since I can pluck a string with my right hand then turn the tuning peg without going anywhere. The frets all look good, no cosmetic issues anywhere. I seem to be getting just a bit of fret buzz on the 4th string around 5, but I'll wait a few weeks to see if that changes with the environment. Oh, and when playing on the overdrive or distortion settings, the sustain is just unreal, I wasn't expecting much for the size. Bonus is it's small enough I think I may be able to play it in the passenger seat on road trips when the wife takes turns driving!
Bought an EG-1 custom at Guitar Center. Got it home, plugged the headphones in and was pleasantly surprised. Then… plugged in the Amp and though WOW!! This little guy is on point. The fit & finish, tone, features & initial setup were impressive. It's PERFECT for what I needed. I'll enjoy being able to tote this around & also put in carry-on with me. Excellent Job Traveler, It's evident… ya'll take pride in your build quality.

Very nice guitar. The single coil pickups that come with this guitar sound very good. I tried them for almost a whole set before I switched to the modeling. The modeling sounded better but, the be SC's worked very good. Nice feature is the bridge pup can be toned down with the tone control, wish Fender would pickup on this feature.

I have had a variax 500 since it was originally launched about 15 years ago. It's been my main guitar and gone through a few repairs but does exactly what I want. Was pining over the jtv for years but just that little bit out of my price range nowadays. The standard is a great value guitar without the variax side probably pacifica quality but I personally really don't need too much – as long as it plays clean and feels good then it's a guitar. I'll play it. The upgraded variax electronics are the deal breaker. I can now switch tunings separate to the model no need to store the tuning and fumble around trying to remember which tuning/model was saved in which position. Pair it with a helix and you can save custom tunings per helix patch without having to adjust the tuning profiles they give you as presets on the tuning dial. Giving literally 1000's of model and tuning possibilities without much hassle at all. (I believe – haven't fully tried this yet) I'm marking it down one star because I had few issues. I'm still not 100% sure it's fully right. Had an issue with the G string & piezo. The string sounded 'dead' and very quiet. I gave this a setup and it 'seems' to be sorted now but there's still a little niggle don't know if it's my brain playing tricks on me or I'm trying to pick a fault now. One other note is that you will need to charge the battery in order to do a firmware update – the included USB interface doesn't power the guitar. Impressive Yamaha guitar for the price; they're always built well in my experience. It played well straight out of the box with all the expected strat features and tones. The Line 6 variax circuitry gives pretty good sounds for all the electric guitars. The acoustics need a bit more care – reduce the amplifier presence, etc – but again, good results can be achieved. I was very taken with the 12-string patches, both acoustic and electric. The Workbench software looks good too – so far I've only messed around with it; haven't had time to do anything serious with it yet. All in all, a very impressive package (though a gig bag or, preferably, a case would have been nice!)ador1441

I was very impressed with this bass straight out of the box, it was in tune and I thought it looked great, sounded great and played great. The craftsmanship and hardware are in my opinion of a very high standard and I sometimes wonder why people talk about changing bridges, tuners and pickups etc. when there's really no reason to do so (they must be very fussy or just like tinkering) I would certainly recommend this bass to potential buyers. My only slight gripe is that the one I received was a V4 reissued but not a Tony Butler Signature as Tony's name wasn't on the head but Trev Wilkinson's was on the back but apart from that I love my bass. Great service from Music Store as usual.
Was a bit dubious about Vintage to be honest. I was looking for a tele with maple neck with a 10 or 12” radius. And a satin finish body. Unless you go for the really expensive Fenders, all necks are 7.25 or 9.5. Richard put my mind at ease with the live chat which pops up whilst on the website. So I received the guitar not sure what to expect. I’ve own several Fender Strats and Teles so I can directly compare. The neck feels really good and was pleasantly surprised. One piece maple. I like the satin finish. The aging is silly but I like it. Within an hr I changed the pickguard screws as they looked to big. I then removed the control plate and bridge so I could remove the ridiculous sprayed aged finish. Took 20 minutes. The difference was instant. This was just my personal preference as I’ve aged a number of guitars. I’m not interested in some peoples snobbery with regard to relic guitars. A few visual tweaks and this Tele is as good as any Fender I’ve played. In fact I’d say that concidering Fenders huge range of guitars, they are totally limited to top end spec by never giving neck radius options on Mexican or Squiers. Ignoring the aging this guitar is good enough for beginners or any level. I like relic guitars personally so I’ll be adding my bit over time to make it look more realistic. It’s called character. I’ll be going for the strat next so Richard I hope you can give me a good deal. Lol. So my final thought. If you want a Fender you can’t beat these Vintage models for price. Especially with the set up. And if your really picky you can reshape the headstock which let’s face it, isn’t difficult. I took one star off because it took a little longer to get to me. Not an issue, I’m just impatient. My next guitar will be from Richards guitars.Andrew C.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed when I first saw this guitar. I've never wanted a falsely "relic'ed" guitar but the price Richard offered on this ex-demo item was irresistible. I realise now that it was just the relic look that put me off. As soon as I played this instrument I feel in love with it. The great set up is a big part of it but the tones and the sustain are phenomenal. This is my first Telecaster, my third Vintage brand guitar and my second from Richards Guitars. The very first sound I had it of this was the neck pickup with (I didn't realise at first) the tone control halfway down. Fantastic jazz tone! I won't go on, suffice it to say that this Telecaster-style guitar has all the tonal versatility and no-nonsense playability of a very good Telecaster. I purchased this to give as a gift for someone who wants to learn to play. It came just a few days after it was ordered, and I opened it up to check for any damage or missing items. I did not have any.! I went ahead and tuned it up, while I had it in hand, why not.?? Then I couldn't resist trying out the little 15 watt amp. WOW.! What a little monster.! The clean side is very nice, smooth, and clear.! It brings out the balance in the pick-ups.. And the Distoration side is just as WOW.! I WAS SO IMPRESSED, that I ordered one for my-self, in the RED.! I have been playing on and off for nearly fourty years, and only recently had an Acoustic/Electric from Fender, which I love. It has a sound and feel that is all it's own..! BUT this Electric Guitar is just awsome.! It can do screamin rips, and clean country as easy as any guitar I've ever played. It not too heavy, but is a solid body guitar which is good. It should hold up for many years of playing, or just playing around.! I highly recomend this guitar set, and if you can get it on sale a good hard case completes the set..!
Never expect good quality if you can get an entire set for a low price. High E string can't even withstand a 1/2 bend at 17th fret. It's a giant scam, the only things that are okay are the whammy bar and the picks. Not to mention the plug cable broke after only 50 days and the amp buzzes all the time. This is why I extremely dislike Yamaha's music products.
My son saved his money to purchase this pack. He could hardly wait the few days for it's arrival. He has had no prior guitar experience. He persuaded me to place the order as this would be an elective class for his homeschooling. I had my reservations. He did not play his PS4 for an entire week after receiving his GigMaker pack! He loves it and I am amazed at how well his is learning how to play it. I am extremely happy that his video gaming has taken a back seat to his love for this guitar.KLM

Overall: May be the best guitar in production. The new pickups are absolutely beautiful, and good for everything but the most extreme styles. I’ve never played a guitar that sounded so nice. I can put it on the neck pickup clean and fire up the boost, and it sounds like a jazz box. The bridge is the only bridge pickup I’ve ever really liked. It clear and dynamic, but no harshness. The guitar is super comfortable to boot. I was really worried I might not like the v neck, but somehow it fits like a glove. Probably the best feeling neck I’ve ever felt. To top everything off…. I've had this guitar a few months now and it is a really good guitar. It is manufactured with quality in mind. There were no blemishes or quality issues when it arrived. It does come with Ernie Ball strings, which I have never been a fan of. I changed the strings right away. It is pretty lightweight (especially when compared to a Les Paul) and really does come across as a LP/Strat hybrid. There is a five or six position switch for the different pickup configurations, but I really only care for two fo them. I guess that would be dependent on what style of music you are playing. One knock that I have is that when using the tremolo, it does tend to go out of tune a bit. I don't use tremolo much, so I can live with that. The neck plays really fast and it is a great looker. Ernie Ball doesn't have a custom shop, but their guitars can compete with any brand out there. You won't be disappointed.Terry S

I purchased this because I am a commercial transporter / truck driver. Being a transporter is very different than your average semi conductor. I jump from truck to truck all the time after I deliver a unit for a particular company. Predominantly traveling all over North America after every job / drop off, I go to the airport and fly to the next job. I have only ever seen people in the review videos for the LTD model and other guitars talk about vacation. Well this is a review for me independent contractor who travels for a living. I'm sure everybody knows the features and the specifications if they are interested in buying this guitar. The four model built-in amp gives you plenty of tone wrench in conjunction with half stacks etc. The volume knob in conjunction with the built-in model amp should be used to also find a sweet spot of every particular model. Overall it's a great product that I will be putting through its paces since I am a real traveler, the LTD EC model has a great pick up with a copious amount of sustain. This guitar was made in China if anybody has any misgivings about it irregardless it's a great product for somebody who wants to write, practice and or record on the road. There's plenty of smaller interfaces and smartbooks/laptops as well as tablets you could record with. I plan on putting it through its paces, it was worth the $700 considering all you get for the quality of the instrument. The only complaint I have is the destination and action out of the box leaves are to be desired. I purchased it from Amazon perhaps if you buy it from their personal store or a music distributor it'll come with better set up than mine.
This has become my "go-to" guitar since it was released from its (excellent BTW) packaging. The EC-1 V2 "fits" exactly the way I like to play and was in tune right out of the box. I have since added locking tuners from Traveler and this instrument is a true joy to play…and take with you absolutely anywhere! My flying trips have VASTLY diminished since Corona, but it fits wonderfully in my SUV! Overall this is an outstanding offering by Travelers Guitars. Ot has on board headphone amp, preamp that rivals my Fender and great intonation. I also own a Traveler Pro (that my girl friend has claimed) and an Ovation Custom Elite. Great job Travler Guitar…outstanding line of instruments…STRONGLY recommend!
The Traveler guitars are great little instruments. They have a good build quality and feel solid and well made. The humbucker pickup sounds good and the fretwork is very nice, with no fret sprout or rough edges. The only problem I had was with tuning stability. I believe this is from the slightly cheap tuning machines. I installed some Grover mini locking tuners and now it holds tune really well. The onboard electronics are okay and the distortion is kind of high gain and a bit shrill. The clean is more than adequate and sounds good in headphones. The guitar sounds great through a standard amplifier. I highly recommend one of these if you need something to satisfy your urge to rock whilst on the road.kingpicks
