Reviews:
Replaced A tuning strings for Córdoba mini with these. Good tension, am happy to be in standard tuningTom
Use them for mini guitars or travel guitars if you need a nylon type string.ProMan
When stringing up the 4th string (D) it broke before reaching correct pitch, but a pleasant phone call resolved that issue with replacement set sent out ASAP (By the way, in "E" tuning a 'regular tension' classical string of .032" (normally an "A" or 5th string put on the 4th position) worked well until I got the replacement sets- The 'Original "A" tuning strings were all tied to the ball differently than the "E" tuning sets- not sure that matters but could confuse some- I just did it like the package with double overhand knot on the trebles (with a little heat from a lighter to tighten the knot fully- CAREFULLY! The "E" set basses has the ball integral to the string metal- much like other electric or acoustic steel strings, but they 'make you tie the balls' to the ends of the trebles- no biggie and easier than tying 'regular classical' strings at the bridge. I like the sound and certainly makes the guitar play nicer to my ears and less like a 'ukulele' that the "A" tuning makes ALL the rest sound like- Nothing terrible about that in itself, but I prefer my 'guitars' to sound like guitars (I use an iRig mike on my acoustics and you can get GREAT SOUNDS out of this little guitar with the "E" tuning IMO-YMMV!Manoteal

Reviews:
I use these for tuning down to B standard and they are perfect with or without a tremolo. They feel firm enough, but not too tight and make for easy shredding. I wouldn't suggest going lower than B standard, but they would probably still hold the up well in A# or even A standard. I don't tune down lower than B and wouldn't know how well they do going lower. I get a lot of good old school death metal tones with these stings. I've tried a lot of different strings and these are the only ones that really are made for lower tunings. They do their job, sound great and last a very long time. It's very simple really. You put them on, stretch them out a little, tune up and you're in knee deep in metal \m/Foul Phil
I first used DDTs on my 4 string bass. I put this particular set on a Peavy Strat clone and it's sitting in BEADC right now will full string tension. Of note is the need for less extra string on the lower two since the "EAD" (or BEA in my case) are fundamentally light bass strings and you probably won't have enough room for a proper wrap due to the smaller machine heads.Jared
These work well for C Standard tuning.israerowle

Reviews:
I have used these strings for 3 or 4 years now they're really good I chose them because of the size and I found out that they are awesome. Not one ever broke on me as I did expect the 10 to from the speed and pressure I used sometimes. My particular style is metal, the strings work great for that. They are highly pliable. I am a bender and the tuning I think does not go out too much after the stresses I place on the strings. I have used deep standard E standard C standard a also be dropped down tuning no problem with any of the strings at all the sound is crisp and clear it's not a muddy sound and it's not a tinggi sound from the strings like a steel Acoustic sound.Big Mac
These strings work pretty much as advertised. They let you tune absurdly low without sacrificing note clarity or integrity… not perfectly, but reasonably. They also stay in tune remarkably well with little to no breaking-in.Regular DR 10's can handle my guitar tuned down 1 1/2 steps with no problems, but anything beyond that is flub territory and intonation is out by as much as a full half-step. With the DDT 10's, I can go 3 steps down and they still sound tight. If you check with a tuner, the intonation isn't quite right, but the difference is negligible to the naked ear. It's hard to break a DDT string. They are noticeably tougher than your average set of 10's. The feel is quite nice at 1 steps and lower though. They're surprisingly easy on the fingers. You don't have to pick hard to get heavy attack. They just exude brutal tone.Their quality stands true to the DR name. Definitely worth a try if you plan on experimenting with extremely low tunings. They can make your 6-string sound like a 7-string… only it'll still feel like a 6-string!Strizzwald
I typically play a half step down, sometimes drop C#. Guitar I have set up for that was giving me some occasional open string buzz in drop C#, but I didn't wanna go to a higher gauge because I like to be able to go to E standard once in a blue. Took the Daddarios off, put these on. Boom. Problem solved. Also very stable tuning wise and feel great overall. Thumbs up!Dustin J.

These strings are absolutely fantastic for a FULL humbucker guitar (Les Paul or SG). Would not put them on single coil guitars though (Stratocaster or Telecaster). They are a lot brighter and tinnier than Pure Nickel. From this point on, these are all I'll use on my Epiphone SG….sound great and last a long time without losing their sound.White Dog

These worked better than the ones that came on my Squire guitar. If these are not working for you, one thing you can try is changing out the plastic nut for bone and/or making sure the strings are not bound by the nut. Use one of those cheap pocket string files (ones that have files that fold out).onefunstore
Very poor quality. Would not stay in tune for five minutes. Replaced with a set of Groovers. Do yourself a favor just get the groovers or hip shot first save yourself the aggravation of having to change them twice. I originally got them because I needed to replace tuners, the price was very attractive. The finish is very good, alas the quality of the internals was lacking.airdogone

Really great strings. Been using them on my Gibson SG in drop C tuning and I have no complaints. A word of advice when you do get them, stretch them HARD or you'll have tuning instability for a few days until they rest but thats part of playing lower tunings. Great strings all around. Medium brightness and a good feel. I change strings often so I can't say "they last forever" but I will say there is no noticeable difference in tone over the 3-4 weeks I use them for.Samuel S

This little gadget is fantastic and well worth the money. It's super easy to install and setup and does exactly what it says. Just a quick push or pull of the D-Tuna and you instantly jump from E standard to Drop D and back again in an instant. No fiddling with lock nuts or tuners again, or just having 2 seperate guitars setup in each tuning, so cool. I've been using it for over 4 months now and it still functions perfectly and I've used it quite a bit. I installed it while doing a string change and everything went nice and smooth just following the supplied instructions. If you have a top mount/decked Floyd Rose this is a must have if you use E standard & Drop D regularly.David B
Its great to have if you dont have an arsenal of guitars to switch between tunings. Pull the trigger, a couple of twists on the fine tuners and youre good! I dont know how well it works on other locking tremolos? But it fits and works great on my Floyd Rose knock-off. I do plan to buy another for when I decide to build my next guitar with a locking system. Enjoy!mekavemann_5
This product is of Eddie van halen. It's very popular among guitar players since it's eddie who invented it. I put it on my Sterling AX3 music man axis copy and I have to say it works perfectly. I get drop d tuning by pulling the thing out of the bridge and it goes right back to E when you push it back in. So it's really convenient for switching from drop d playing to regular E tuning. I think it also makes the guitar sound much better since the bridge I put in it is a cheap Floyd rose imitation. The guitar sounds much better now. But I also changed the pickup wiring so that could be the cause of much improvement in tone.ibanezwielder

Reviews:
These are not bright strings, the sound is somewhat dull – not so much you can't boost highs and adjust mids to compensate enough for most purposes, but these will never sound great for anything that needs to pop with bright presence. I am forced to keep a 5 string tuned down a whole step for one of the bands I regularly work with and this is the only game in town. You will need to re adjust your bridge because your intonation will change with these strings on and it may be enough to make solos and high passages sound a but wonky. If you have to keep a rigged tuned down, these are what you need but they put an awful strain on the neck if you try to pull them up to standard pitch – use for lower tunings ONLY.Doug
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a DR endorsing artist. But I chose to endorse them because I truly believe they make the best strings I've ever used. At the same time, I realize that you have to have the right strings for the right bass, and your playing style and type of music you play also determine to a large extent which strings are right for you. I've tried almost every string they make, and they're all great, but not all perfect for every situation. These are definitely the right strings for me, though. I currently play a Lakland 55-60 with a maple fretboard. I used to swear by the Marcus Miller Fat Beams. But then DR sent me a set of these DDT's to try, and I was blown away! The MM strings are great, but these are much more to my liking for what I'm doing right now. I play in a modern country band and I never down-tune. But the tension, stability, and sustain of these strings are phenomenal. They also give my jazz bass a hotter output, probably due to the density of the strings. If you like tight, stiffer strings that will sustain for days and sound big and fat, give them a try! I'm giving quality an 9 because the build and overall quality is great, but they didn't last as long as I'd like. Unlike some strings that can lose tone over time, though, these pretty much sounded awesome for about a month (of playing 4 nights/wk) and then all of a sudden just didn't sound good anymore. Personally, I'd prefer it that way, rather than have strings that sound a little worse day after day. But I wish I could have gotten more use out of them. When you find the right string, you have to have it. And these are a great value. And they're cheaper than the Marcus Miller strings that I also loved, so bonus! : )
i've been using these strings for almost 2 years for hard/heavy rock. on a 36" scale 5-string the 135's feel great, and stay nice and tight at Eb or D tunings. at standard E tuning they are extremely tight. i've taken them down to C tuning, which puts the low B all the way down to seriously subterranean G, and that's about where they start to get floppy on a 36" scale bass. i would describe their tone as being loud and punchy, which suits loud, heavy music very well. as for longevity, i'm getting a solid month out of them at 10 hours per week of fairly vigorous playing. i kept the last set on to to see how long they'd go for. after 3 months they're starting to loose temper, and need to be replaced… but that's after a lot of playing.Wesley
13. The String Butler V2 Guitar Tuning Improvement Device – Best Guitar Upgrade To Improve Tuning Stability (V2 Black Chrome)
Product Details:
V2 black addresses frustrating tuning issues found on many guitars with a 3 + 3 headstock configuration. the string butler's design attaches to the head of your guitar and corrects the angle of the strings as they pass through the nut. this guitar mod greatly improves the tuning stability of your guitar. vintage style tuners with collars / sockets / bushings require string butler vintage adapter kit 1 or 2 available here this german designed by dietrich parts, all metal, chrome plated, guitar accessory is assembled in germany so you know it is designed well and durable for many years of trouble free service. the rollers used on this guitar upgrade insure low friction as the strings are rerouted to the tuning machine heads. corrects the position of the a, d, g, b string for a straight course through the saddle notches/nut, therefore preventing the guitar strings from getting stuck in the saddle/nut * keeps the tuning of the strings even intense guitar playing * fast and easy installation version v2 with minimum hole spacing 44 mm / maximum hole spacing 58 mm * if you have vintage style tuners with collars / sockets and no hex nut around the post, you need the vintage adapter kit 1 for non gibson like epiphone & gretsch or vintage adapter kit 2 for gibson guitars which is sold separately here on amazon. please visit intuneguitars in canada website for detailed compatibility information. not compatible with sperzel or planet waves auto trim locking tuners as these tuning posts are wider than 8mm. also some locking tuners may not be compatible as the tuning posts maybe to short. the test to see if the string butler will fit under your locking tuners is to take off 1 hex nut and put the edge of a canadian quarter ( the string butler is the same thickness of a quarter ) against the tuning post then screw the hex nut back on. if the hex nut screws back all the way and the string insertion hole is not covered or by 50% or less then you should be able to pass your string through it and the string butler will be compatible. hope that makes sense.

About $10 too pricey but it does what it says it will do. Most of your tuning problems will be be over, especially if you do what I did on my SG… Tusq XL nut, Grover tuners and a Wilkinson roller bridge. That may seem a bit overboard but if you're frustrated enough by tuning issues, you'll try anything. In the end, it was worth it… Ridiculously playable and stable guitar. The String Butler was an essential part of the solution. Highly recommend.claydiesel76

I have been a Stringjoy customer now for 4-5 years(I think?) and they are the best strings I’ve ever used on my electric guitars! Love the feel of them and the tone. You guys have an amazing thing going. I would love to try them on my resonator guitar(it’s a square-neck). Beard Guitars makes the strings I currently use on it. They’re a little peculiar as far as the gauge goes though. .18-.20-.29W-.36-.45-.56 but I love the tone of that gauge and like Ariel Posen, I like a fight from my strings. I almost ordered a custom set to try when I was ordering my previous sets of electric strings but didn’t see a .29W in bronze. Anyways, I’m very thankful I discovered you guys! I turned to Stringjoy because I wanted a 9-72 8-string set, for which there aren't many options ot there, unless you go for a custom set. I was tempted by the stellar reviews, so I decided to give these a go. Firstly, these are the clearest sounding strings I've ever tried. They're not excessively bright, but their articulation is amazing, which really helps that low F# string ring true. They are almost clear to a fault, because they emphasise every little bit of fret buzz and string rattle, so you have to watch your technique. Secondly, these are the longest lasting uncoated strings I've ever used. After a month of use, they have shown minimal aging. I don't play my 8-string every day, but still, this is impressive. Also, they don't rust, flake or turn black. They just gradually become duller, while still remaining playable. One bit of criticism I have is the tuning stability. These strings seem to need a certain amount of tension to stay in tune. They were fine on my 27" scale 8-string, but when I tried the equivalent set on my 25.5" scale 7-string, bending made them go out of tune very easily. I need to try the 10-60 set and see if it's any better. Overall, I'm very happy with this set for my 8-string, and I have already purchased more. Oh, and one more thing! Normally, whenever I use gauge 72 or higher, I have to partially unwrap the winding to fit the string into its tuning peg. With this set, the lowest string was somehow able to go in as it is. A really nice added bonus!Alexander K
When I was in my teens and early twenties, I didn’t think about the differences between brands of strings. I based my choices as much on the packaging as anything. After putting it away for decades, I decided to take up guitar again. I decided that this time I would explore the differences in strings. I’ve been all over the map with this and have finally settled on Stringjoy Naturals. They’re not as expensive as some other strings I’ve tried and liked. They hit a sweet spot for me. Price, playability, and sound. They’re all there for me.Mark B

I am a new pedal steel player (E9). My new to me PSG was in need of a string change. No experience deciding what is a good string or a not so good string. Decided to try a set of Ernie Ball strings. They installed like any other string. Hold tuning well. I am abusing the instrument about 2 hours a day c/w lots of up and down bending. So far no broken strings. They sound good, hold pitch, seem durable and are priced right. Not much more to say.Alvin
Fits in my hand good, moves across the strings well. Not too heavy and not too light.flgates

I usually use Elixir Lights or Mediums which is the recommended brand for all Taylor Guitars but I always wanted to try out Cleartone. Picked up the Cleartone Grand Lights which is a mix of medium and light strings and they do not disappoint. They sound beautiful on my Taylor Grand Auditorium! I highly recommend picking up a set of these and try them out on any acoustic guitar. If you like the crisp bright tones of lights with the rich and loudness of medium strings then these are the strings for you! They are corrosion resistant and have a thin flake free coating on them like Elixirs do. These just might be my new favorite strings! I will have to check out some different sizes and see what else they have. But as of now I am happy with my very first set of Cleartone acoustic guitar strings!mccaseyfresh
Over the years, I've come to the conclusion that certain guitars just seem to like certain strings. My acoustics have all seemed to have a preference for Martin's Clapton's Choice strings, and they seemed to last longer, tone-wise, than other non-coated strings. I had tried Elixir Polywebs years back and didn't care for them; they felt coated and sounded dull to me. Then I bought a Taylor 210, that came equipped with Elixir Nanowebs and loved them. The Nanowebs didn't feel coated, had a great, broad sound spectrum with a nice full bottom end, and retained a clarity and quality of tone for far much longer than any strings I'd used. I'd read some good things about the Cleartone strings, and took advantage of a sale at MF to try a few sets out on some of my guitars. My Fender Sonoran, Epi Hummingbird Artist, Takamine 340TRF, and old '73 Japanese Delta all responded very well to the Cleartones. They even sounded good through Fender's (IMO) sub-par electronics when I amplified the Sonoran! I'd tried a myriad of strings on that guitar, but plugged in, I'd just never been able to get a good tone, and had all but quit playing it amplified until I tried these Cleartones on it. The Epi, Delta and Takamine are all straight acoustics, and the Cleartone strings sound as good or better than Martin's Claptons or the Elixir Nanowebs, with the Takamine seemming to take a real shine to them. Finger picking or beating it with a flat pick, the Takamine just rings. They didn't fare as well on my Taylor, however. All the other guitars are spuce/mahogony, while the Taylor is spruce/rosewood. The 200 series are rosewood laminates (plywood, to purists), but my 210 has a wonderful, complex tone with a nice, full bottom end. I lose that bottom end with the Cleartones, and while it's bright and articulate, it's not quite the sound I want from this guitar. So it'll be back to Elixirs for the Taylor's next string change I do think you should experiment with strings to find the best fit for your guitar and the way you play, but 4 out of 5 of my guitars agree these are great strings. They don't feel coated, and they'll give your guitar a nice clear, full, and articulate tone for a good long while.
Although I was not throughly impressed I still say they are worth a shot if you are curious. If you don't like them, hey, go back to what works. I am unfortunately stuck with a stack of these strings (and intend to use them), but I'm not going to complain because I got an incredible deal on them. There's too many complainers out there today. Cleartone strings appear to be a well-manufactured, quality product, and I recommend them on the grounds that you try them to see if they are a good fit for you and your guitar. All the best! Cleartone coating versus other brands' coating – this is what the package touts. I notice the coating to be thinner but a good quality "coated" string has never bothered me much. In other words – it advertises a thinner coating and a more natural feeling product, but unfortunately it doesn't matter to me much. I'll rate this category a 6. The strings seem to be well made and are even packaged nicely in a durable poly wrap package, I admit I was pretty impressed just seeing what was underneath the pouch. Strings are color coded, which will be appealing to those who are familiar with D'Addario strings. Nice touch. Each string tips off with a long straight steel core. Strings tuned up fast and after a few stretches only needed one or two re-tunes. The area where I am dissatisfied is not in the durability or the feel of the strings. I am dissappointed in the sound. These strings replaced an old set of D'Addario EXL's on my Yamaha FGX720SCA Acoustic/Electric, and although they were brigher (as new strings tend to be), they were lacking a certain fullness and richness that the EXL's provided, both new and used, when played on my guitar. The EXL's have always been my go-to coated string, simply because they sound better to me than other coated competitors, so I may be partially biased here. But I know what I hear and I know what I like, and I don't feel these Cleartones are the best fit for my guitar. I want the readers to know that every guitar responds differently to strings. I have played guitar for quite a few years and have realized that some brands/gauges/lines of strings work better on some guitars, both acoustic and electric, than do others. So don't let this review scare you away from trying a set of strings that you might just fall in love with. On my particular guitar I wasn't impressed, but perhaps on your Takamine or your Martin these strings will shoot rainbows from your fingertips. It's all subjective. If you can find a special, I'd say give them a whack. You may not be dissapointed, and you'll know for yourself if these are for you or not. There's a lot of buzz about these strings, why not try them for yourself? Peace.zippidydoo

Reviews:
I began using these strings a few years ago when I began experimenting with extreme low tunings; both standard and drop tunings (anywhere between D standard all the way down to drop-G#). At the time they were the heaviest set of strings I could find in the town where I live so I put them through the paces for a good long while before I tried other gauges/brands. Now, if strung on a good quality 25.5 scale guitar these strings do okay tension-wise all the way down to drop-A# or even drop-A for doomy, drone-type stuff. I found that if I tuned any lower than that they lost all clarity and definition. On a 24.75 scale guitar, however, drop-B was as low as I could get with them and they honestly didn't sound that great. After a few months of experimentation I found that Drop-C on a 24.75 scale guitar was just about right for this set of strings tension-wise. Later, after settling on drop-B as my main tuning, I found that the .56 bottom just wasn't thick enough to provide the string tension and clarity I need for my playing style. I also found, much to my dismay, that the .56 bottom string broke way too often to be such a thick gauge string which makes me think that the quality of these strings is sub-par compared to other brands I've tried since. I even filed down the string saddle to try and reduce the wear on the string but it didn't seem to help. I've also found that these strings rust and corrode much sooner than other brands I've tried even after I started using a string cleaner after playing. The final complaint I have about these strings is that the plain G string they put into this pack of strings sounds ridiculously bad in any tuning and the lower you tune it the worse it sounds. I imagine it would help if they made it a wound string or at least included a wound string in the pack so you could choose between the two. I've since settled on another brand of string in .10-.60 gauge and I am much happier with the tone, tension and definition compared to the EB not even slinky set.ViperDude310
I have been playing electric guitar now for over 12 months and decided to try a heavy set of Ernie Ball Electric Guitar strings in the 12-56 gauge. I was pleasantly surprised by the full bodied tonal sound coming through the amp whether it was clean guitar or through a distortion pedal. I was told that thicker or fatter strings sound stronger and louder and have found that they are not that hard to fret as I have developed finger strength over the past 12 months of playing to be able to hold the big strings down for a good solid chord sound or for note playing. I thoroughly recommend Ernie Ball electric guitar strings and the thicker the gauge the better if you can handle it.
I needed a set of strings to reproduce a heavily Black Sabbath influenced recording (c. Vol 4) that would not thin out in a drop tuning environment, standard for slide playing and standard for thickening the tone and sustain before I got to my amp or effects loop I tried out a set of these when I was informed they are indeed made in the USA. Short answer: Oh yeah, oh hells yeah! The increased tension in the neck might make these strings unsuitable for some players. I'm on a neck though body Gibson SG and have been holding solidly in tune (E=329Hz. A=440Hz, etc).for over a week with no loss. When you put these string on you will need to stretch them with a string stretching tool or by bending the string left to right, right to left with your thumb and finger from the nut to the bridge to keep them in tune, go down the string in 1/2" increments and repeat until you run out of string. Many players put on a set of strings and break as they go, try this and see how much less you have to tune in the overall lifespan of the string, i break in all my strings with this method and it works wonders. I would NOT use these for guitars manufactured with inexpensive components (e.g. knockoffs and starter kit guitars) as you will go out of tune due to the lack of strength on the wood used to build and the tuning pegs which are usually very cheaply produced from inferior metals with shoddy gears and posts and truss rods that are misaligned and/or made form inferior components. Once on these strings sound big, (e.g. yo mama big), the fatter tone and sustain going to these from light and medium gauge .9/.10 – .42/.48 is immediately noticeable and leaving yourself in standard tuning will be much more of a workout on your fret hand, but the payoff is the tone and sustain you can get from the increase in string mass and tension. For the negative reviews I'd be interested to see what kind of guitars these strings are being set up on and what the manufactures recommend. I'm planning on putting the other set of these on a G&L ASAT (AKA Telecaster 2.0) for heavy blues slide and I will observe if that stays in tune as well.as it's a 4 bolt neck, but if your gear is not very good to begin then don't expect adding that much more tension to an inexpensively made guitar to behave like a quality instrument.Sultan of the Six Strings
