I use these for tuning down to B standard and they are perfect with or without a tremolo. They feel firm enough, but not too tight and make for easy shredding. I wouldn't suggest going lower than B standard, but they would probably still hold the up well in A# or even A standard. I don't tune down lower than B and wouldn't know how well they do going lower. I get a lot of good old school death metal tones with these stings. I've tried a lot of different strings and these are the only ones that really are made for lower tunings. I first used DDTs on my 4 string bass. I put this particular set on a Peavy Strat clone and it's sitting in BEADC right now will full string tension. Of note is the need for less extra string on the lower two since the "EAD" (or BEA in my case) are fundamentally light bass strings and you probably won't have enough room for a proper wrap due to the smaller machine heads.Jared

This little gadget is fantastic and well worth the money. It's super easy to install and setup and does exactly what it says. Just a quick push or pull of the D-Tuna and you instantly jump from E standard to Drop D and back again in an instant. No fiddling with lock nuts or tuners again, or just having 2 seperate guitars setup in each tuning, so cool. I've been using it for over 4 months now and it still functions perfectly and I've used it quite a bit. Its great to have if you dont have an arsenal of guitars to switch between tunings. Pull the trigger, a couple of twists on the fine tuners and youre good! I dont know how well it works on other locking tremolos? But it fits and works great on my Floyd Rose knock-off. This product is of Eddie van halen. It's very popular among guitar players since it's eddie who invented it. I put it on my Sterling AX3 music man axis copy and I have to say it works perfectly. I get drop d tuning by pulling the thing out of the bridge and it goes right back to E when you push it back in. So it's really convenient for switching from drop d playing to regular E tuning. I think it also makes the guitar sound much better since the bridge I put in it is a cheap Floyd rose imitation. The guitar sounds much better now. I have used these strings for 3 or 4 years now they're really good I chose them because of the size and I found out that they are awesome. Not one ever broke on me as I did expect the 10 to from the speed and pressure I used sometimes. My particular style is metal, the strings work great for that. They are highly pliable. I am a bender and the tuning I think does not go out too much after the stresses I place on the strings. I have used deep standard E standard C standard a also be dropped down tuning no problem with any of the strings at all the sound is crisp and clear it's not a muddy sound and it's not a tinggi sound from the strings like a steel Acoustic sound.Big Mac
These strings work pretty much as advertised. They let you tune absurdly low without sacrificing note clarity or integrity… not perfectly, but reasonably. They also stay in tune remarkably well with little to no breaking-in.Regular DR 10's can handle my guitar tuned down 1 1/2 steps with no problems, but anything beyond that is flub territory and intonation is out by as much as a full half-step. With the DDT 10's, I can go 3 steps down and they still sound tight. If you check with a tuner, the intonation isn't quite right, but the difference is negligible to the naked ear. It's hard to break a DDT string. They are noticeably tougher than your average set of 10's. The feel is quite nice at 1 steps and lower though. They're surprisingly easy on the fingers. You don't have to pick hard to get heavy attack. They just exude brutal tone.Their quality stands true to the DR name. Definitely worth a try if you plan on experimenting with extremely low tunings. Never thought I would have one of these. Obviously not for serious gigs! But maybe just for fun? With a certain amount of self doubt, I ordered one. It arrived soon enough, in good time. Got it out of it's box thinking it looks kind of strange, but it's a hybrid after all. Liked the nice wood grain and the satin finish, but the action seemed just a little high. Action is taken care of in "set up," you can do it yourself (very carefully), or pay an expert to do it (probably worth it). Even very expensive Instruments often need "set up" when new. With a couple days of getting acquainted, the guitarlele doesn't look so strange anymore. It feels quite comfortable in my hands. I have a hard time finding large enough gloves for winter, or for rough work. Also I started trying to learn to play on a guitar with a wide neck and nylon strings. At this point in time I have decided I definitely like it. It's worth what I paid for it. It looks nice, tunes nice (after the usual new nylon string stretching period), and plays pretty nice too. Good enough tone I think. My fingers find the top of the neck a little cramped for space, but that's just the way it is with a tenor ukulele neck, and may be a little more noticeable with two more strings, and a wider neck. If you sometimes find yourself caught up in the ukulele world, and the classical guitar world, this is both. Going around the house or somewhere out and about, can't decide which one to take along, take this, it's both. That's pretty cool I think. It can't duplicate the tone of an all solid wood, case queen. But than it's a good bit less fuss and bother to take care of, and expense to own, and this is all about fun, not formal concerts. Should have a comfy case for travel, and fits a standard tenor uke case well enough, a lot better than I thought it would (not the Lanakai case sold here by Musicians Friend though, it won't be long enough inside).Still Learning.

I was surprised to fine this heavy of a guage of strings. I didn't know they existed. The thing about heavy strings is that you have much more ability to play with dynamic resonance – something you can't really get with light guage strings. With these strings, you can play as softly as you wish but when you really want it to "come out" they don't disappoint. I also only play with the fleshy tip of my fingers which melds into the subtle nuances of chord and solo performance.garycgrieve
The package is for C standard, not Drop C as some people mistakenly think…well, I guess you could use them for Drop C if you like veeeery stiff strings. If you want strings for Drop C, I'd suggest a skinny top/heavy bottom set of strings with an 11 up top and a 54 or so on the bottom so the bottom E tuned to C doesn't get floppy and knocked out of tune easily. Anyway, I've been using these for a long time on my USA core line PRS Custom 24 in C standard. They seem fine for going down a half step to B standard and feel fine even up half a step to C# standard. That's as high as I'd tune these strings up, though. I couldn't recommend these strings more!Josh
I have these strings on my schecter c-1 SLS blackjack tuned all the way down to drop A#, and let me tell you, despite being labeled as optimized for drop C, I don't recommend them for that tuning. 11-52s, 12-54s and 11-56s are better for Drop C, but for Drop B and Drop A#, you will not find a better gauge than these on a 25.5 scale length guitar or a 26.5 baritone. The tension is absolutely perfect! It feels like a 10-52 set in E standard with the E string tuned to D! Like with all D'addarios, they are bright, long lasting, they feel smooth and they absolutely love locking tremolos. I can yank my floyd rose all I want and it still will not go out of tune. Since D'addarios are bright as I stated before, they also remain clear under high gain, which I use my marshall JVM on the red channel with a maxon OD as a boost and a peavey 5150. Between the tuning stability, the tension, the reliability, the playability and the string life, you cannot go wrong with these for baritone tunings!Daniel

I like the strings, but the over advertising on emails is really annoying. I’m not sure who is your marketing manager, but your time would be well spent at NAAM, Local guitar dealers, online advertising, etc. Maybe even getting a contract to put your strings on specialty guitars from the manufacturer, along with specs that only you meet. I had been reading about these strings in forums etc and was intrigued. Decided to try a set or two and see what was up. I bought the 10-52 Signatures. Well, I have been using them for a month and a half and all I can say is, believe the hype. The feel great, nice on the fingers, and it seems like the difference in quality of the metal is noticeable. I mean, it feels that way. Maybe it's something else. I don't know but they feel good, hold tune very well and settle in easy right after they're strung up. In six weeks of home playing they have not diminished in tone or tuning stability at all. I MUCH prefer these over the stock ping tuners that came with my classic series 60's strat…unfortunately I didn't read the fine print that said "uhhh btw, you have to buy our adapter's SEPARATELY in order to fit modern guitars"….So I just spent probably 4 hours trying to make these things work before reading that….Wasted so much time, why the h3ll didn't they just include the freaking adapters! The lowest string tends to sharpen when played on the frets higher than the 7th though. Otherwise they're fine, and it takes FOREVER for any of the strings to die. I've had them for 4 months and they still play just as well as they did when I got them. The sound is great… just get them if you plan to tune really REALLY low.
these sound incredible at the B and A range. Particularly A because they are so thick. I dont play in F but they still hold tune and tension amazingly. They sound sharp and are very lively strings. Im going to try the 10-60 next week. the 65 gauge is a little to big for versatility. I plan on buying a third guitar and that will have these strings designated to it.Reza

Everyone told me I couldn't drop tune my gibson les paul studio to drop A. I worked with my buddy with couple different string sets to see what we could get away with. Honestly some of the lighter gauges still worked but I just love the chunky awesome tone of these strings. When you're tuning so low having a big gauge is just so important. these sound incredible at the B and A range. Particularly A because they are so thick. I dont play in F but they still hold tune and tension amazingly. They sound sharp and are very lively strings. Im going to try the 10-60 next week. the 65 gauge is a little to big for versatility. I plan on buying a third guitar and that will have these strings designated to it.Reza

Having relatively recently started learning guitar on an electric stratocaster-style guitar this was a great transition to the acoustic segment. The thinner body makes it much more comfortable to play than say a dreadnought and the neck is comfortable to transition too, yet the guitar doesn't seem to sacrifice as much sound as you'd expect from a thinner guitar. The finish of the guitar is that of a more expensive guitar for example the rosewood finger board. On arrival I actually thought the guitar looked better than the pictures on the website suggest but do note that because of the finish it is prone to showing finger marks which would need cleaning time to time. After suffering a permanent back injury I could no longer play my elictric guitar as it was too heavy or my acoustic electric guitar because it felt like it was twice it's normal size because I could no longer find a comfortable position for myself to play it. The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the action. It's just a little too high. Other than that, I love it. It's a very nice looking acoustic for the money. It stays in tune extremely well and I was shocked at how full the sound was even with such a thin body. Sounds even better plugged in. The thinner body is super comfortable to handle and hold. It makes the transition from electric to acoustic very easy. The built in tuner is one of my favorite features. It works great and seems to be as accurate as any other tuner I've ever used. Overall, I would recommend this acoustic to anyone on a budget looking for a great sounding and feeling acoustic who doesn't mind the action a little on the higher side. (Side Note – I might be too critical on the action since I'm used to my electrics set up for such low action.)

A word of advice when you do get them, stretch them HARD or you'll have tuning instability for a few days until they rest but thats part of playing lower tunings. Great strings all around. Having previously purchased a lemon drop second hand I was impressed with the vintage brand. I've previously owned custom shop guitars by Fender and Gibson so have perspective on how "good ones" should sound. The v6 was ordered from Richard as I enjoyed his YouTube videos and liked the thought of the guitar being essentially hand picked and set up prior to delivery. Richards pricing is not the cheapest but it does ensure that the guitar you receive plays as well as it possibly can. The guitar itself arrived in tune, set up to my specifications with a blocked trem and 10 gauge strings. The finish was flawless and the fact vintage spec the correct woods for these guitars (alder and maple) really sold me. It has a full size tremblock, bent steel saddles and sounds like a good strat should. The Wilkinson pickups in the lemon drop where excellent paf approximations and the single coils are no exception. Plus the bridge is wired to the second tone pot which is something I always do as I tend to roll off the treble when soloing. The guitar is also very light and can be played comfortably for hours. Packing was top notch. Double boxed. Comms excellent and I would wholeheartedly recommend purchasing from Richard again. In fact I have Gas for a Eastman Les Paul in 2020😊Matt S.
If you've ever put a guitar together from after market parts, even 2nd hand, its doesn't take long to rack up an expense. For Richard to offer this guitar for £287 with a full setup is quite extraordinarily extraordinary. The QC on this one is exceptional from Vintage and despite thorough inspection I cannot find any flaws at all. It is a very lightweight guitar, slightly neck heavy, so I'd recommend purchasing a good quality leather strap to prevent slippage. The highlight of the VS6 would be the neck which is a wide C profile and very enjoyable to play. The setup from Richard again is exceptional and you really have to applaud the effort invested making these very affordable guitars so playable. On that note, I would also recommend that these are perfect guitars to learn some basic setup skills on; though very well setup I have made small adjustments as can be expected as you break a guitar in. Overall: Let's start at the top. I have never had a guitar with in house tuners that are this good. The charvel locking tuners are phenomenal. Very smooth and precise, every bit as good as any gotoh tuners I've used. The nut does what it's supposed to, I've not had any tuning issues due to friction when using the trem. The neck. My god the neck is fantastic. It's a very comfortable thin shape that works for me perfectly. It is very very close to as smooth as my strandberg. The frets are about the only thing that leaves a bit to be desired. They're polished and rounded very nicely, however there are sharp edges. Pretty much every fret, bass and treble side. It isn't to the point where it's uncomfortable to play, but noticeable. I absolutely love the spoke truss rod adjustment wheel, not that I've needed to use it. The neck joint is absolutely the most comfortable bolt on I've ever played. The pickups are fantastic as well, not super high output but the clarity is insane. Exactly what I was looking for. The gotoh bridge was probably my biggest surprise. I've never played a non locking trem that actually stayed in tune and even after abusing it like I would a Floyd, lo and behold, still in tune! It's very comfortable as well. The output jack placement is genius and is comfortable in any sitting position. It would be perfect for sticking the cable in between the strap and guitar. I know it's cliche, but the pictures do not do it justice. It is a stunning guitar. The satin burgundy mist is about the coolest color I've seen on a guitar and compliments the roasted maple neck perfectly. Overall, the fit and finish of the guitar, aside from the frets, is flawless. I would still 100% recommend this guitar to anyone. It would be a great guitar for any type of music you play.
Overall: Not much more I can add to what’s been said so far (hit or miss QA, super smooth neck, really nice finish, crazy number of sonically pleasing tones, premium components work great..); it really is an excellent guitar. The matte blue version of this guitar I received had a really janky and loose pickup selector switch, so I had it swapped out for the exact part used in the (*ahem* almost identical $3500!!!!) American version. The fret edges were finished smooth right out of the box, but it badly needed a setup. Once that was done, it was perfect. It’s almost effortless to access all of the frets. The tremolo is different than a traditional Stratocaster style 2-point trem in that it’s way more sensitive and much tighter and way more stable. The only issue I’m having with it is, because of where the volume knob is and my way of playing, I roll the volume down on accident quite a bit. Kinda takes the edge off of a solo when it’s fading out as it’s building up. Also, I’ll eventually swap out the no-load tone control for a conventional one. The stock no-load tone control works just fine to control the tone, but I don’t like the extra click when it’s dialed all the way up. And at this price it should come with a bag.
On paper, a pink strat style guitar with humbuckers would be the last guitar I'd want to play. However seeing this Charvel Pro-Mod Dk24 on the wall in it's sort of darker pink (burgundy mist) just caught my eye so I played it. I knew I found a real player's guitar. The color grew on me even more and the functionality was great. Humbuckers you can run as single coils with the 5 way switch is very practical. I didn't want to put it down. Super strats have always been very versatile but I've never dreamed of buying one just because I always found the styling to be extreme. However the color is kind of soothing. The neck didn't leave much of an impression but I think that there's something nice about not having to think about the neck. If it works and I don't have to think about it, so be it. Played rock through a little orange amp well yet it also sounded beautiful with a lush clean sound through a Fender Princeton. I think super strat type guitars are starting to come around to the market. Between the Silver Sky the PRS Fiore I think the more mellow color/designs with the versatility they've always had are making super strats more desirable to new guitarists. This one's a great one.G

This is my second GL1 that I've bought. I use them for serendipitous practice time, keeping one at my desk at work and one in my car so I can play during moments of downtime, during kids baseball practice, when stuck in traffic, etc. It's rugged & stands up to bumps, scrapes & temperature changes fine – although I bring my car one inside in extreme heat or cold. Plus, at the price, it's not a big loss if it gets flattened or stolen. I've also started using it as a travel guitar instead of my Córdoba Mini. Although I'm careful putting my instruments in the overhead, fellow passengers think nothing about smashing other's stuff in order to fit the suitcase they should have checked. Despite being rugged it has a fairly nice tone & I have received many compliments on its sound, although to be fair I replaced the three highest strings with Aquila Nylgut tenor ukulele strings. For the price the action and playability are surprisingly nice and consistent across instruments I tried out before buying the one that was just a little bit better. No, it's not a top of the line instrument for playing out, but for something fun and convenient to pick up when you have a bit of time, it's perfect.Chas
This guitalele is my first-choice instrument, and this is my second time buying it. Yes, I have two, one I left with my family so I don't have to travel with it overseas (although it is pretty perfect for travelling if you ask me) and now I have one at home. I've played it for 8 years, two of my friends also have added it to their instrument collection. These are not bright strings, the sound is somewhat dull – not so much you can't boost highs and adjust mids to compensate enough for most purposes, but these will never sound great for anything that needs to pop with bright presence. I am forced to keep a 5 string tuned down a whole step for one of the bands I regularly work with and this is the only game in town. You will need to re adjust your bridge because your intonation will change with these strings on and it may be enough to make solos and high passages sound a but wonky. If you have to keep a rigged tuned down, these are what you need but they put an awful strain on the neck if you try to pull them up to standard pitch – use for lower tunings ONLY.Doug
In the interest of full disclosure, I am a DR endorsing artist. But I chose to endorse them because I truly believe they make the best strings I've ever used. At the same time, I realize that you have to have the right strings for the right bass, and your playing style and type of music you play also determine to a large extent which strings are right for you. I've tried almost every string they make, and they're all great, but not all perfect for every situation. These are definitely the right strings for me, though. I currently play a Lakland 55-60 with a maple fretboard. I used to swear by the Marcus Miller Fat Beams. But then DR sent me a set of these DDT's to try, and I was blown away! The MM strings are great, but these are much more to my liking for what I'm doing right now. I play in a modern country band and I never down-tune. But the tension, stability, and sustain of these strings are phenomenal. They also give my jazz bass a hotter output, probably due to the density of the strings. If you like tight, stiffer strings that will sustain for days and sound big and fat, give them a try! I'm giving quality an 9 because the build and overall quality is great, but they didn't last as long as I'd like. Unlike some strings that can lose tone over time, though, these pretty much sounded awesome for about a month (of playing 4 nights/wk) and then all of a sudden just didn't sound good anymore. Personally, I'd prefer it that way, rather than have strings that sound a little worse day after day. But I wish I could have gotten more use out of them. When you find the right string, you have to have it. And these are a great value. And they're cheaper than the Marcus Miller strings that I also loved, so bonus! : )
i've been using these strings for almost 2 years for hard/heavy rock. on a 36" scale 5-string the 135's feel great, and stay nice and tight at Eb or D tunings. at standard E tuning they are extremely tight. i've taken them down to C tuning, which puts the low B all the way down to seriously subterranean G, and that's about where they start to get floppy on a 36" scale bass. i would describe their tone as being loud and punchy, which suits loud, heavy music very well. as for longevity, i'm getting a solid month out of them at 10 hours per week of fairly vigorous playing. i kept the last set on to to see how long they'd go for. after 3 months they're starting to loose temper, and need to be replaced… but that's after a lot of playing.Wesley

These strings actually do what they are advertised to do. These 10-48's have the tension and characteristics of approx 11-52's. If your guitar is set up for standard or E flat with normal 10's, then you can expect to be able to tune down to D standard or even C# without making many adjustments. My 24 3/4 scale guitar is tuned to C# standard with these strings now and feel very nice, not all floppy and dull. I have read some other reviews that seem to exaggerate a little saying C standard and even drop A works with these, don't believe that, maybe with the heavier gauges in this line that could be done. The tone is good also, not muffled and dull like some strings get when tuning a full step down or more. Very cool. I have used the 10-46 Zakk W from this brand on a Custom 24 tuned to D standard and the bridge floated perfectly, I did not have to adjust the tremolo at all. So if you want to tune down a step or so without filing your nut, these are for you.Riffrawker
well, i recently switched out the strings on my les paul to the new dulop heavy core "heavy" strings (10, 13, 17, 28, 38, 48) – and i couldn't be happier. i have tried all kinds of different string configurations and i think i've finally found my perfect match. i've had everything on my LP from cleartone, d'addario, elixer, ghs, and i even had the zakk wylde icon customs from dunlop. the zw dunlop strings were the closest i could compare these too in terms of feel and quality, but i would up taking them off because i wasn't using my guitar in dropped tunings enough and i didn't need such heavy strings on the E, A, D. in terms of tone, these are amazing, imo. the d'addario's were way too bright – even on the low strings. but these dunlops give you a nice thick, warm tone, and maintain the right amount of brightness without being too twangy. the feel of the strings is fantastic as well. i really like the nickel over any of the other strings, especially ones that have a coating that breaks down. after i restrang the guitar and it barely took any stretching to get the strings 100% set – no going sharp or flat. they're right on point no matter how much i bend or move them. i did have to make a slight adjustment to the intination because of the small increase in gauge on the E, A, D strings, but it was very minor, and again, well worth it. also, there was no need to adjust the truss rod because the increase in gauge wasn't enough to bow the neck, like when i tried the zw icons. if you're looking for something new to try that will give you great performance and durability i highly recommend these.ZERO
