I purchased this Dean ML based on my appreciation for Dime and simply because teenage me committed to owning one someday. I found a pic that I took with Dime which reminded me of being in the front row watching him jam away on his Dime Slime years ago. For me, this purchase was primarily motivated by nostalgia, expecting build quality to be sort of, ok. I have to say, this guitar exceeded my expectations. Slight disclaimer: I purchased this item knowing I would immediately upgrade most of the hardware and adjust things to make it more comfortable for my playing. 1) It is a fantastic base instrument. It plays fairly well as sold. This was my first experience with a Floyd Rose Special. Also, it will definitely be my last. I played it stock for about 2 weeks to get a good feel for it before changing anything. It’s a great playing guitar. 2) Every review I saw said that the finish was amazing and pictures just couldn’t do it justice. I agree. They did a great job on the neck and body of this guitar. It’s flawless. 3) Everything was to spec on mine. Action, truss rod, intonation, fret, bridge and pickup height, all perfect. My fretboard had a somewhat excessive amount of dye on it but nothing too crazy. The nut on mine was clearly cut too deep leaving the high e in permanent sitar mode with fret buzz. So, quality control could be an issue. For my needs this wasn’t a problem as I had already decided on replacing virtually all hardware with new parts that I had on hand from a project that I decided not to restore. 4) The pickups sound great. The Dime Slime nailed the Pantera tones, not surprising. I was surprised by the classic/southern rock and soloist tones I was able to get with minor eq adjustments. Clear and warm through the drive/distortion. It does jazz and country pretty well too. It has a very balanced sound to it which I was not expecting. I’ve played it on three different amps with the same results. Great. This is a great buy. A solid guitar as is. However, in my case, this guitar didn’t really come to life until I did what I did: OFR Hot Rod, brass block,springs, some shielding, etc. Now, what really irritates me is that it plays a lot better than a few of my guitars that were either at or almost double the cost of the Dime Slime. Overall: I'm no stranger to the scratch and dent game. I think half the fun is trying to figure out where the scratch and or dent is. When this model V came out I already knew that it would be a great guitar. Never played a Dean I didn't like. This model is a steal even at full price. Mahogony body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, Floyd and hot pickups. Actually, very hot pickups. My guitar has a bright sizzle to it in the bridge pickup and the neck pickup sounds great. Pretty balanced out put. The bridge is a Floyd Rose Lic. Stays in tune well. The fretboard is high quality. No fretsprout to speak of. Intonation is good, stays in tune and no high frets to speak of. The profile is the C shape. Similar to a 50s Lp just a tad thinner. The flat black finish is awesome the blem is only a slight discoloration on a portion of the binding. What that tells me is that the regular price model will be no doubt flawless. If you want that grind, metal, searing flamethrower sound the bolt on is the way to go. Bolt on necks are usually a little brighter. Sustains very well. I'm very very happy with it. It is exactly what it is advertised as. Buy one. You'll love it. Getting the ML X Floyd next. No doubt due to my own preference I will be swapping out the bridge pickup only. All my main guitars have Seymour Duncan TB and SH 6 bridge pickups. Great guitar for nodding to tour own preferences. You'd be doing killer as is too. I'm in no hurry to swap pickups. Great buy.
Not a V type of player. I like Wilco, the Pixies, the Smiths, Stone Roses, Courtney Barnett, etc. So when I saw Ryan Adams rocking a V by that other manufacturer that starts with G, I started thinking about the V body style. I liked this model because it was at the right price point and had the tradition V body style, if you don't think too much about the headstock. This guitar probably hasn't gotten any love because I don't see it as your typical Dime type guitar, and its not your typical vintage Flying V. The pickups are not high enough gain to get love from the shredders and the Headstock probably turns some people off. What I found is a pretty great guitar with some help. First, the action was high. I lowered the bridge significantly. The good news is that the frets are good I didn't run into any buzziness after lowering the action a little lower than I thought I could get away with. Next, the pickups needed adjustment. They were pretty low. I brought them up a little and found that the sound filled out and got chimey like it should. I adjusted the pole pieces to match the fretboard radius and viola! Most of these guitars have good pickups and don't need an immediate change. Folks, you need to learn how to properly adjust your guitar pickups! Then figure out if you need something different. PS adjust these pickups on a clean channel, you need to hear the guitar not distortion. Long story short, this is a great guitar. It shouldn't be your main axe, but its a great conversation piece that sounds better than it should. I feel like I discovered a diamond in the rough. P.S. The guitar is really light and comfortable to play with a strap.Fred

This guitar sounds very good with the dimebuckers, since they are pretty high output. The Floyd Rose Special is not bad, although I had to tighten the bar a lot for it to stop swinging around. I have played this guitar quite a bit and it still holds tune very well, even though I pretty regularly do squeals and dive bombs. The only problem that I have is just a visual problem, and it doesn't affect playability at all. I don't know if it had to do with all of the weather changes, since guitars don't have problems moving to harsh environments, but I notice that there were some visible cracks in the fretboard binding (not any problems with the fretboard itself). There was also a crack in the finish by the neck joint, but it is very small and hard to see. They seem to be just cracked inside the binding and not on the outside, since I can't feel the cracks. Other than those problems, I really don't have anything bad to say about the guitar other than it feels absolutely amazing if you are a dimebag Darrell fan or love Pantera. I really can't recommend this guitar enough for metal heads that need an upgrade.Joe, B
Overall: I was sceptical at first bc it is a big body,wasn't Shure if I'd be comfortable with it but I am sold now.Ive sold my Les Paul ,and this is one of my main axes now the sound is incredible it sounds better than my Les Paul did .plus the neck is just built for metal easy to get around ,and fasssst! This thing is awesome . everything was stellar out the box ,and man does this thing stay in tune .I just absolutely love the feel and sound of this axe you cannot go wrong here .I am a Dean customer for life now.
I figured I’d like this guitar seeing as how I’ve wanted it for about 17 years. Darrell Abbott is my idol and I knew I had to have this guitar one day. I also had it in my mind that it may not live up to my expectations because I’ve put it on a pedestal for so long. Well, let me tell you, I cannot put this guitar down. I dream about playing it. Sometimes I get up an hour early so I can play it before I go to work, then while I’m at work, I think about getting home to play it. It’s light, the neck is fat but extremely comfortable, it plays like a hot knife through butter. It shreds. You can play anything on this thing. Blues, metal, jazz even. I absolutely cannot explain how much this guitar has exceeded my expectations. The case is not perfect though. It’s not made as well as I would have hoped. The guitar does fit perfectly inside and the case will protect it. If you’re thinking about buying this thing, I can guarantee that you will at least like it and probably love it.

I've always wanted an ML and this one looked so beautiful online. It's even better when it's in your hand. Pickups are awesome, nice full tone and great crunch on the distortion side. Love the matte finish on the back of the neck. It has great sustain too, you can feel the tone through the whole guitar when you play a note and I prefer that solid feel when I play. My only two complaints is there are a couple fingerprints under the clear coat on the back. Obviously missed during the QC checks at the factory. But they're barely noticeable and they're on the back. Gives it character to have a workers fingerprints as part of my guitar. The other thing is the frets could've been polished a little better. But when I changed the strings, I took another 30 mins and polished them and that was that. This is my 10th guitar and it's tied for number one favorite. I play it every day and love it. I bought the case for it as well, it's enormous, but great fit and quality.Will
Overall: I purchased a Dean EVO XM electric guitar awhile ago, at a very reasonable price, but the fret edges were sharp, and adjusting the neck for a modicum of playability was practically impossible! My mistake was leaving it back in it’s box, and missing the cut off for returns by ONE DAY! The customer service agent basically said “no can do”, sorry, etc. So, I bought an Epiphone TV Yellow Les Paul Special, with a nice discount price, and put the Dean on an internet selling network. It still sits in the carton it came in, and I await some individual to take it off my hands. In actuality, that one day late in trying to get a refund, and told a resounding “No”, was within zZounds right to do so, but it left a “bad taste”in my mouth, to say the least. I won’t buy from them again.
This Dean Select Quilt Top V is the best V I've ever owned. I've owned many by all the other companies. The pickups are the best I've heard through my Marshall ever. The quilt top is amazing. The binding is beautiful and the satin neck is very fast to play on. Frets are level. Probably better than most of the guitars I own. No complaints anywhere. I love this guitar.

I played it stock for about 2 weeks to get a good feel for it before changing anything. It’s a great playing guitar. 2) Every review I saw said that the finish was amazing and pictures just couldn’t do it justice. I agree. They did a great job on the neck and body of this guitar. It’s flawless. 3) Everything was to spec on mine. Action, truss rod, intonation, fret, bridge and pickup height, all perfect. My fretboard had a somewhat excessive amount of dye on it but nothing too crazy. The nut on mine was clearly cut too deep leaving the high e in permanent sitar mode with fret buzz. So, quality control could be an issue. For my needs this wasn’t a problem as I had already decided on replacing virtually all hardware with new parts that I had on hand from a project that I decided not to restore. 4) The pickups sound great. The Dime Slime nailed the Pantera tones, not surprising. I was surprised by the classic/southern rock and soloist tones I was able to get with minor eq adjustments. Clear and warm through the drive/distortion. It does jazz and country pretty well too. It has a very balanced sound to it which I was not expecting. I’ve played it on three different amps with the same results. Great. This is a great buy. A solid guitar as is. However, in my case, this guitar didn’t really come to life until I did what I did: OFR Hot Rod, brass block,springs, some shielding, etc. Now, what really irritates me is that it plays a lot better than a few of my guitars that were either at or almost double the cost of the Dime Slime. Overall: I'm no stranger to the scratch and dent game. I think half the fun is trying to figure out where the scratch and or dent is. When this model V came out I already knew that it would be a great guitar. Never played a Dean I didn't like. This model is a steal even at full price. Mahogony body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, Floyd and hot pickups. Actually, very hot pickups. My guitar has a bright sizzle to it in the bridge pickup and the neck pickup sounds great. Pretty balanced out put. The bridge is a Floyd Rose Lic. Stays in tune well. The fretboard is high quality. No fretsprout to speak of. Intonation is good, stays in tune and no high frets to speak of. The profile is the C shape. Similar to a 50s Lp just a tad thinner. The flat black finish is awesome the blem is only a slight discoloration on a portion of the binding. What that tells me is that the regular price model will be no doubt flawless. If you want that grind, metal, searing flamethrower sound the bolt on is the way to go. Bolt on necks are usually a little brighter. Sustains very well. I'm very very happy with it. It is exactly what it is advertised as. Buy one. You'll love it. Getting the ML X Floyd next. No doubt due to my own preference I will be swapping out the bridge pickup only. All my main guitars have Seymour Duncan TB and SH 6 bridge pickups. Great guitar for nodding to tour own preferences. You'd be doing killer as is too. I'm in no hurry to swap pickups. Great buy.
Not a V type of player. I like Wilco, the Pixies, the Smiths, Stone Roses, Courtney Barnett, etc. So when I saw Ryan Adams rocking a V by that other manufacturer that starts with G, I started thinking about the V body style. I liked this model because it was at the right price point and had the tradition V body style, if you don't think too much about the headstock. This guitar probably hasn't gotten any love because I don't see it as your typical Dime type guitar, and its not your typical vintage Flying V. The pickups are not high enough gain to get love from the shredders and the Headstock probably turns some people off. What I found is a pretty great guitar with some help. First, the action was high. I lowered the bridge significantly. The good news is that the frets are good I didn't run into any buzziness after lowering the action a little lower than I thought I could get away with. Next, the pickups needed adjustment. They were pretty low. I brought them up a little and found that the sound filled out and got chimey like it should. I adjusted the pole pieces to match the fretboard radius and viola! Most of these guitars have good pickups and don't need an immediate change. Folks, you need to learn how to properly adjust your guitar pickups! Then figure out if you need something different. PS adjust these pickups on a clean channel, you need to hear the guitar not distortion. Long story short, this is a great guitar. It shouldn't be your main axe, but its a great conversation piece that sounds better than it should. I feel like I discovered a diamond in the rough. P.S. I've always wanted an ML and this one looked so beautiful online. It's even better when it's in your hand. Pickups are awesome, nice full tone and great crunch on the distortion side. Love the matte finish on the back of the neck. It has great sustain too, you can feel the tone through the whole guitar when you play a note and I prefer that solid feel when I play. My only two complaints is there are a couple fingerprints under the clear coat on the back. Obviously missed during the QC checks at the factory. But they're barely noticeable and they're on the back. Gives it character to have a workers fingerprints as part of my guitar. The other thing is the frets could've been polished a little better. But when I changed the strings, I took another 30 mins and polished them and that was that. This is my 10th guitar and it's tied for number one favorite. I play it every day and love it. I bought the case for it as well, it's enormous, but great fit and quality.Will
Overall: I purchased a Dean EVO XM electric guitar awhile ago, at a very reasonable price, but the fret edges were sharp, and adjusting the neck for a modicum of playability was practically impossible! My mistake was leaving it back in it’s box, and missing the cut off for returns by ONE DAY! The customer service agent basically said “no can do”, sorry, etc. So, I bought an Epiphone TV Yellow Les Paul Special, with a nice discount price, and put the Dean on an internet selling network. It still sits in the carton it came in, and I await some individual to take it off my hands. In actuality, that one day late in trying to get a refund, and told a resounding “No”, was within zZounds right to do so, but it left a “bad taste”in my mouth, to say the least. I won’t buy from them again.
This Dean Select Quilt Top V is the best V I've ever owned. I've owned many by all the other companies. The pickups are the best I've heard through my Marshall ever. The quilt top is amazing. The binding is beautiful and the satin neck is very fast to play on. Frets are level. Probably better than most of the guitars I own. No complaints anywhere. I love this guitar.

The guitar itself is quite nicely built, but the app, which is supposed to help your kids learn the chords etc. is demoralizingly bad. It's hard to explain to a 5 year old why, after following the daily items (tune your guitar, practice some chords etc.) they don't get the points for completion. As a software engineer, I fail to see why it's okay to leave this basic functionality broken. Furthermore, the app appears to be abandonware. I see no updates or fixes. The 'Games' section has been 'coming soon' for months. The app should be removed from the site as a selling point, since it is basically broken. Just be aware when you buy this guitar, the app is not going to work.Ben
My 6 year old really loves the thing. She strums it and goes to it often without prompt. She can’t really get her fingers down onto the fretboard to play a chord, but she knows that those cards are instructions. She carries them around and tries playing them with the guitar on a flat surface. She also still doesn’t have a great sense of the guitar as an instrument, that’s to be taken care of, and not banged around like a toy. I think by the time she’s 8, this thing will be perfect for her. If you guys made something a little more towards the toddler end of the spectrum, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. I understand and greatly appreciate that you’ve scaled down a real electric guitar. Phenomenal concept. Greatly happy with it. If there was something a little more durable, and a little easier for little fingers to hold the notes, I’d pick that up for sure. Great idea, great product, pretty nice app.James C.
Bought a Loog mini for my 9y old. He seems to like Guitar and I can play a bit , but whenever we tried on my Ovation he got very frustrated. Heard about the Loog 3 string and it made sense to me. Well my some loves it!! He’s learned the basic chords now because hit little hand can actually get around the fret board and he is so excited! I purchased this guitar a couple months ago and while the finish is absolutely stunning and I want to just mount it on the wall, it’s hard to put it down! The guitar came in tune, set up and ready to play. Easily one of the best playing guitars I’ve ever picked up, I own a Prestige Ibanez, two schecters, an ESP LTD and this one is so easy to play compared to all the others. Bends and vibrato are effortless and the Floyd is great, stays in tune nicely. The Dimebucker is super, super hot, great for the Dime harmonics and squeals. Also this guitar and it’s case are massive, have to fold the seats in my SUV down every time I take it anywhere, but despite its large surface area; it is extremely light. Would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a speedy player or a fan of Dimebag Darrell like myself.
Great metal guitar. When I ordered this Dean I was already thinking of swapping out the neck pickup to some type of Duncan. Then the guitar showed up, the Dime Time neck pickup is amazing! No need to really swap it out unless you really dont like the sound of the Dean pickup. The neck profile on this Dean is a soft V. It's chunky but definitely not like an old Les Paul. It's comfy. If you do not like thick necks, this is not the guitar for you. The korean Floyd on this thing is just as good as a German floyd. Will not go out of tune, unless you set it up wrong. Do some research, its not difficult at all. The Dimebucker is a very underrated pickup. Ton's of reviews of those online and on YouTube. Look it up, you're either gonna love it or hate it. This guitar screams METAL. It's huge. When you strap this guitar on you automatically get a boost of testosterone and instantly grow a red goatee. Overall: You can tell that someone was behind every little process in building this beautiful instrument. The neck is a slick as water, the action and everything is set up perfectly, Everything about this guitar just feel premium about it. The ebony fretboard. The paintjob. Down to the extra polish they gave the inlays for a silky touch. I do wish they had stuck with the original stealth headstock. But I can understand using the Razorback.But always wanted one of these high-end Dimebag guitars (I got a Dean from Hell & a basic Razorback) and thanks to zZounds I was able to do it without breaking the bank.

Just bought the Speedster Deluxe Carrera Grey with ebony fretboard. The whole guitar is awesome in terms of the neck, frets, body color – a darker grey with red highlights. The size is ideal and the finish is top grade. Also bought and installed the gold locking tuners from Traveler – you do this one side at a time. They work well to prevent string slippage and keep the guitar in tune and they look really fine on this guitar. What about the sound: amazingly good with the humbucker pickup! Separately purchased AKG K240 headphones and plugged the jack into the 1/8" on the body. WOW! I like the four modes: clean, boost, overdrive and distortion – you will find what you want from this selection. If you don't need to hear it live, this will be enough. However if you like to hear the sound live when you travel and don't have much room, you can buy a mini amp which plugs into the 1/4" jack on the guitar. My choice (there are lots) was a Boss Katana mini amp and separately a Boss PSA electric cord to plug it into the wall (and skip the batteries). I can't say enough about the whole package. Traveler did an Excellent job designing this!

I purchased this Dean ML based on my appreciation for Dime and simply because teenage me committed to owning one someday. I found a pic that I took with Dime which reminded me of being in the front row watching him jam away on his Dime Slime years ago. Overall: I'm no stranger to the scratch and dent game. I think half the fun is trying to figure out where the scratch and or dent is. When this model V came out I already knew that it would be a great guitar. Never played a Dean I didn't like. This model is a steal even at full price. Mahogony body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, Floyd and hot pickups. Actually, very hot pickups. My guitar has a bright sizzle to it in the bridge pickup and the neck pickup sounds great. Pretty balanced out put. The bridge is a Floyd Rose Lic. Stays in tune well. The fretboard is high quality. No fretsprout to speak of. Intonation is good, stays in tune and no high frets to speak of. The profile is the C shape. Similar to a 50s Lp just a tad thinner. The flat black finish is awesome the blem is only a slight discoloration on a portion of the binding. What that tells me is that the regular price model will be no doubt flawless. If you want that grind, metal, searing flamethrower sound the bolt on is the way to go. Bolt on necks are usually a little brighter. Sustains very well. I'm very very happy with it. It is exactly what it is advertised as. Buy one. You'll love it. Getting the ML X Floyd next. No doubt due to my own preference I will be swapping out the bridge pickup only. All my main guitars have Seymour Duncan TB and SH 6 bridge pickups. Great guitar for nodding to tour own preferences. You'd be doing killer as is too. I'm in no hurry to swap pickups. Great buy.

I liked this model because it was at the right price point and had the tradition V body style, if you don't think too much about the headstock. This guitar probably hasn't gotten any love because I don't see it as your typical Dime type guitar, and its not your typical vintage Flying V. The pickups are not high enough gain to get love from the shredders and the Headstock probably turns some people off. What I found is a pretty great guitar with some help. First, the action was high. I lowered the bridge significantly. The good news is that the frets are good I didn't run into any buzziness after lowering the action a little lower than I thought I could get away with. Next, the pickups needed adjustment. They were pretty low. I brought them up a little and found that the sound filled out and got chimey like it should. I adjusted the pole pieces to match the fretboard radius and viola! Most of these guitars have good pickups and don't need an immediate change. Folks, you need to learn how to properly adjust your guitar pickups! Then figure out if you need something different. PS adjust these pickups on a clean channel, you need to hear the guitar not distortion. Long story short, this is a great guitar. It shouldn't be your main axe, but its a great conversation piece that sounds better than it should. I feel like I discovered a diamond in the rough. P.S. I purchased this Dean ML based on my appreciation for Dime and simply because teenage me committed to owning one someday. I found a pic that I took with Dime which reminded me of being in the front row watching him jam away on his Dime Slime years ago. For me, this purchase was primarily motivated by nostalgia, expecting build quality to be sort of, ok. I have to say, this guitar exceeded my expectations. Slight disclaimer: I purchased this item knowing I would immediately upgrade most of the hardware and adjust things to make it more comfortable for my playing. 1) It is a fantastic base instrument. It plays fairly well as sold. This was my first experience with a Floyd Rose Special. Also, it will definitely be my last. I played it stock for about 2 weeks to get a good feel for it before changing anything. It’s a great playing guitar. 2) Every review I saw said that the finish was amazing and pictures just couldn’t do it justice. I agree. They did a great job on the neck and body of this guitar. It’s flawless. 3) Everything was to spec on mine. Action, truss rod, intonation, fret, bridge and pickup height, all perfect. My fretboard had a somewhat excessive amount of dye on it but nothing too crazy. The nut on mine was clearly cut too deep leaving the high e in permanent sitar mode with fret buzz. So, quality control could be an issue. For my needs this wasn’t a problem as I had already decided on replacing virtually all hardware with new parts that I had on hand from a project that I decided not to restore. 4) The pickups sound great. The Dime Slime nailed the Pantera tones, not surprising. I was surprised by the classic/southern rock and soloist tones I was able to get with minor eq adjustments. I've always wanted an ML and this one looked so beautiful online. It's even better when it's in your hand. Pickups are awesome, nice full tone and great crunch on the distortion side. Love the matte finish on the back of the neck. It has great sustain too, you can feel the tone through the whole guitar when you play a note and I prefer that solid feel when I play. My only two complaints is there are a couple fingerprints under the clear coat on the back. Obviously missed during the QC checks at the factory. But they're barely noticeable and they're on the back. Gives it character to have a workers fingerprints as part of my guitar. The other thing is the frets could've been polished a little better. But when I changed the strings, I took another 30 mins and polished them and that was that. This is my 10th guitar and it's tied for number one favorite. I play it every day and love it. I bought the case for it as well, it's enormous, but great fit and quality.Will
Overall: I purchased a Dean EVO XM electric guitar awhile ago, at a very reasonable price, but the fret edges were sharp, and adjusting the neck for a modicum of playability was practically impossible! My mistake was leaving it back in it’s box, and missing the cut off for returns by ONE DAY! The customer service agent basically said “no can do”, sorry, etc. So, I bought an Epiphone TV Yellow Les Paul Special, with a nice discount price, and put the Dean on an internet selling network. It still sits in the carton it came in, and I await some individual to take it off my hands. In actuality, that one day late in trying to get a refund, and told a resounding “No”, was within zZounds right to do so, but it left a “bad taste”in my mouth, to say the least. I won’t buy from them again.
This Dean Select Quilt Top V is the best V I've ever owned. I've owned many by all the other companies. The pickups are the best I've heard through my Marshall ever. The quilt top is amazing. The binding is beautiful and the satin neck is very fast to play on. Frets are level. Probably better than most of the guitars I own. No complaints anywhere. I love this guitar.

Great little guitar for grabbing on the fly, and playing without disturbing anyone, anytime, anyplace. Has enough adjustment to set up for good playability, and the build quality is good. The 4 internal amp modes are good enough to practice a variety of styles, albeit without any gain adjustment (only volume and tone). The only drawback so far is that it doesn't seem to allow for bypass of the amplifier to get a natural analog signal out to a separate amp or other interface. It seems to require the powered internal amp at all times, even in the "bypass/clean" setting. Removing the batteries kills the output signal altogether, even in the "bypass/clean" setting, which I expected to default to passive electronics. This is majorly disappointing since the noise picked up through the small internal amp is always injected into the signal no matter what. They need to add a bypass switch which allows for passive operation when desired or necessary. Don't run out of batteries at your gig!
I wanted something small, not so much for travel but for playing around the house. My main requirements were that it was comfortable to play seated, well balanced without a strap, and small enough to play on the couch. The headphone preamp was the main feature that made me decide on this model over the others. Turns out it's actually comfortable to play seated, and an unexpected bonus is not having the headstock, I can set it down pretty much anywhere without worrying about knocking it out of tune. I also find the tuners to be more convenient than the normal arrangement, since I can pluck a string with my right hand then turn the tuning peg without going anywhere. The frets all look good, no cosmetic issues anywhere. I seem to be getting just a bit of fret buzz on the 4th string around 5, but I'll wait a few weeks to see if that changes with the environment. Oh, and when playing on the overdrive or distortion settings, the sustain is just unreal, I wasn't expecting much for the size. Bonus is it's small enough I think I may be able to play it in the passenger seat on road trips when the wife takes turns driving!
Bought an EG-1 custom at Guitar Center. Got it home, plugged the headphones in and was pleasantly surprised. Then… plugged in the Amp and though WOW!! This little guy is on point. The fit & finish, tone, features & initial setup were impressive. It's PERFECT for what I needed. I'll enjoy being able to tote this around & also put in carry-on with me. Excellent Job Traveler, It's evident… ya'll take pride in your build quality.

Pretty balanced out put. The bridge is a Floyd Rose Lic. Stays in tune well. The fretboard is high quality. No fretsprout to speak of. Intonation is good, stays in tune and no high frets to speak of. The profile is the C shape. Similar to a 50s Lp just a tad thinner. The flat black finish is awesome the blem is only a slight discoloration on a portion of the binding. What that tells me is that the regular price model will be no doubt flawless. If you want that grind, metal, searing flamethrower sound the bolt on is the way to go. Bolt on necks are usually a little brighter. Sustains very well. I'm very very happy with it. It is exactly what it is advertised as. Buy one. You'll love it. Getting the ML X Floyd next. No doubt due to my own preference I will be swapping out the bridge pickup only. All my main guitars have Seymour Duncan TB and SH 6 bridge pickups. Great guitar for nodding to tour own preferences. You'd be doing killer as is too. I'm in no hurry to swap pickups. Great buy.
Not a V type of player. I like Wilco, the Pixies, the Smiths, Stone Roses, Courtney Barnett, etc. So when I saw Ryan Adams rocking a V by that other manufacturer that starts with G, I started thinking about the V body style. I liked this model because it was at the right price point and had the tradition V body style, if you don't think too much about the headstock. This guitar probably hasn't gotten any love because I don't see it as your typical Dime type guitar, and its not your typical vintage Flying V. The pickups are not high enough gain to get love from the shredders and the Headstock probably turns some people off. What I found is a pretty great guitar with some help. First, the action was high. I lowered the bridge significantly. The good news is that the frets are good I didn't run into any buzziness after lowering the action a little lower than I thought I could get away with. Next, the pickups needed adjustment. They were pretty low. I brought them up a little and found that the sound filled out and got chimey like it should. I adjusted the pole pieces to match the fretboard radius and viola! Most of these guitars have good pickups and don't need an immediate change. Folks, you need to learn how to properly adjust your guitar pickups! Then figure out if you need something different. PS adjust these pickups on a clean channel, you need to hear the guitar not distortion. Long story short, this is a great guitar. It shouldn't be your main axe, but its a great conversation piece that sounds better than it should. I feel like I discovered a diamond in the rough. P.S. Amazing little guitar. it has a genuine floyd rose tremolo, but i have upgraded it with a red bishop tremolo arm, made in japan. it eliminates the play that all floyd's (and most other trems) have. even if it is adjusted to be free falling when you let go. the guitar plays excellent, and the neck is like that of an ibanez wizard neck. as you can see, the guitar is a compact form of the ibanez jem series. the pickup selector puts the humbuckers in single coil mode for positions 2 and 4, so it is very strat-like in those positions. the guitar is quite compact, and as the brand implies, it's great for traveling. that being said, i have used it on several gigs, and it is awesome. there are four holes that i drilled, trying to find a better place for the strap pins, but alas, the original positions turned out to be the best place. i also routed a little section under the tremolo arm to accommodate the larger red bishop arm retaining assembly. you will love this guitar!

I just got mine today and plugged it in immediately – it's immediately playable and immediately enjoyable. I also own the name brand this is modeled after, so I'm familiar with the inspiration behind this guitar. Knowing that, I'm really glad with my purchase. The neck is a little chunkier but I've been playing a lot of other guitars with thicker necks than my Jem so I don't mind it all. I need to give it a slight setup with strings I'm more accustomed to, but I'm in no rush because out of the box the setup is pretty good. Well done!
I love my new Vaibrant 88x Deluxe with its Floyd Rose Tremolo and Ebony Fretboard! It is a high quality, versatile guitar that is a joy to play. I have five other high quality guitars, but I play my Vaibrant and Escape MK-III most of the time. I find that I am playing more now and collecting guitars less thanks to these great travel guitars. Both are great not only for travel and performance, but as a convenient and comfortable practice guitar throughout the day.
