2. Bone Guitar Saddle Unbleached – Fits Many Martin Guitars
Product Details:
Unbleached bone is a harder material than bleached bone is, and will produce a different tone. many guitarists prefer the tone of unbleached bone. unbleached bone has a creamy, but inconsistent color. please note that color will vary. this unbleached saddle will fit many martin guitars as either a replacement or upgrade. the saddle is wave compensated for improved intonation. the radius is set at 16 inches to match many martin fretboards and improve playability. note: this saddle will not fit guitars with saddles that go entirely through the bridge lengthwise. please note that each guitar is slightly different and your bone saddle may need adjustments to the height, length, or thickness, which you can do with the included sandpaper.

Reviews:
I used this to replace a factory installed Tusq saddle on an all Mahogany Martin guitar (OMC-15ME). To my ears, the bone makes the "unplugged sound" feel more traditional, fuller and warmer. I had some concern that the Plugged in sound would be affected, but was pleased to find it was just as good as before. Note that these saddles must be sanded to height, and care is required to keep the bottom flat and smooth, which is important for even contact with the under-saddle pickup strip. I also have a "bleached" saddle and I prefer the unbleached, which is denser and seems to result in higher output/volume. Price was a bit high, but worth it if you prefer traditional warmth to factory brilliance.knoahbear
Fit just perfect.. I had a litl sanding to lower the action.. but other than that.. perfectsteppin1010

I got a used electric on Ebay that had horrible intonation. I dug out my old Homespun Tapes video on guitar maintenance & repair only to have the VCR eat the tape. The video was no longer published. I found another nice looking one by the Learn & Master folks–but too expensive. So….Back to Ebay. The seller "1dayx" had a copy of this & for about 1/3 the price of one of the DVD's, I got this book which comes with a video CD. Set up problems solved with a book AND video examples. Even more, this book is really comprehensive, covering both acoustic and electric guitars. With the video examples, I'm now able to do my own basic set up & maintenance. GREAT VALUE!studiohope
Our son got into guitars in a big way. So my wife enthusiastically purchased him a Fender Jazz Bass, a Gibson LP and a Taylor nylon acoustic, all second hand at a third of the cost of brand new, but all in mint condition. Knowing little about guitar maintenance / setup, my frugal wife discovered it would quickly add up taking all these second hand guitars into the "experts". Using Dan's book, we re-strung the Fender and adjusted, the Gibson was within specification and the "bird nest" at the Taylor's stock head was tidied up. We also have a Stratocaster copy (Cimar by Ibanez) that we purchased for $50 years ago. With Dan's book, we discovered virtually every conceivable guitar setting on this Strat copy was completely out! With a new set up strings, several hours' set up work, we got the Strat copy within acceptable specification and sounding quite good. Dan's book is an excellent reference for the DIY-er, along with anecdotal stories of various guitar artists whom he's dealt with over the years. Dan's book covers both acoustic and electric guitars. Next project is learning how to play them!BigTony

Tried these Flex Core Strings on my L-00. No huge difference with the regular M540 strings I usually use on my acoustics. These FX strings are slightly more flexible which is most noticeable when pushing and pulling but I experience no profit while fretting (bar) chords. At this point the new FX set has not been played in, but they tend to sound slightly less bright than a regular new M540 set. Cannot say yet how this will develop once played in thoroughly but I hope they will keep this brightness all the way.

Replaced 6 x Buffalo Horn pins with 6 x TUSQ pins on my Yamaha FS720S (w/ TUSQ nut and saddle), but didn't love the results. I felt the Buffalo Horn had more character and might have matched up better with my guitar but after playing around with it I found that an excellent combination of 3 x Buffalo Horn and 3 x TUSQ really gave the guitar more uniqueness. I think the TUSQ provides some extra tone and warmness, definitely volume, and the Buffalo Horn just seems to have a little bit more bass, mids and character overall. Worth nothing that I put the Buffalo Horn on the low E, A and D strings and put the TUSQ on G, B and high E. I have 3 of each pins leftover of course, so I'm going to use the same combination on my new guitar although this guitar will have a bone nut and saddle as well as different materials in general, so I'm clueless if the same results will occur. I did read however that one particular dude loves his solid sitka top guitar's to have Buffalo Horn pins so maybe there is some merit to that. I hope this helps out some people who feel that bridge pins do nothing for the sound. It probably effects different guitars in different ways but I can tell you for sure that I've been through plastic, Buffalo Horn and TUSQ and there's definitely differences between all of them.Telemaster
After reading reviews on all the bridge pins available, decided on Graph Tech for my Squire acoustic. Went to the Graph Tech web site to make my selection and pick the right size. Per my measurements using a digital caliper, my pins were 0.202 at the top of the shank, and ordered the traditional pins in black with a 2mm dot. When I tried to use these new pins, they sat very high on the bridge. I measured their diameter at the base of the shank and got a reading of 0.211 to 0.214. This is very poor quality control, for something that is so dimensionally critical. I will not buy from this manufacturer ever again.Peter
I have just discovered that these need to be raised up 3/16 inch (the height of the pin heads) in order to get the killer tone. With the pins set all the way in, the tone was so-so. When I pulled the pins up a bit, the tone was vastly increased, and the sustain much improved. I just paid big money for an expensive guitar. All l needed was to lift up the pins on my existing guitars! Note: I use the 2mm dot size of pins.Ken W in Portland, OR

This book is great if you are just getting into guitar repair as well as those who are already doing guitar repair. Normally I would have just thrown away a guitar that has been badly damaged as the ones shown in this book, but after seeing how these guitars can be restored, I now will repair them or have them repaired. I also particularly like the section on refinishing as any type of refinishing, partial or complete can be difficult especially if you are not skilled in that area. I even apply those techniques on refinishing to cabinetry.jkopticalinc

I use these on my Takamine G series Jumbo bodied Acoustic electric both 6 and 12 strings. I get a ton of mid-range and bass and substitute .015 for 2nd (B) and .012 for first (E) strings so the treble isn't so brassy. It works terrific for the contemporary church music I play both with and without an amp.9376roberth
after trying many makes and gauges for my guitar I have settled for the steel silk strings that give the perfect tone for what I want. I have found the balance between low end depth and high end clarity that suits my playing. The Martin Steel Silk may be slightly more expensive than the Bronze varieties but the difference is more than worth it. I recommend any acoustic player should give them a try.kenuphog
Lovely sound from these strings, especially compared to other brands I’ve used in the past.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Used these bridge pins to enhance the look and tone of my Martin D121. Wasn't sure that they would make a difference but needed to replace my plastic pins and decided to try these. Not only did they look terrific (my guitar looks great but these pins add to the overall look of the instrument) but I could actually hear a difference in the tone. They added an across the spectrum warmth to the already brilliant full tone of this guitar! I would think that they would have a subtle positive affect on almost any guitar they were placed in. Absolutely worth the extra money for the ebony pins with the pearl inlay!storyman53
Martin makes beautiful everything and these are no exception. First off, you get 7 bridge pins. They're a bit oversized, which I think is great! I sanded mine down to fit flush at the bottom ring. They all press in with a firm ending. The tone is also a bit more warm and woody sounding. I highly recommend these over the plastic pins. I can't believe that Martin doesn't include the. On their higher end models. Just my opinion. Hope this helps someone whose on the fence about getting them.Wayne

11. Martin D-X1e Natural
Product Details:
Guitar is in absolutely mint condition with no blemishes whatsoever. the pick guard doesn t even have a mark! it has been strummed, but very little. and let me tell you, once this was professionally set up (100% necessary on these from what i ve seen as every one i ve seen could fit a hockey puck between the strings and fretboard out of the box) it became a completely different beast than the relative lamb that came from the factory. with the cost and effort for that taken care of, you re already ahead of the game. i d argue the mojo this seemed to acquire from the setup has given it the oomph and feel to hold its own against just about any other acoustic i ve been around. tones are spectacular. great, throaty well-balanced volume that really roars from the sound hole. i really couldn t believe the transformation this sleeper made when i picked up. pretty sure you ll agree once you play.

Great guitar! Arrived in a couple of days! Lovely it! Faultless service!Sam S.
I would of preferred to buy a solid top Martin for my son but he has an attic bedroom which fluctuates with the heat and we were worried about keeping it stored safely so at his request I brought him this one instead. I had previously seen and held the solid mahogany version and so when this arrived it did look different (not quite as nice) and there was a slight difference it tone and resonance however it still looked and sounded great compared with other guitars around and under the same price range (£500) we had tried. My son is 16 and an intermediate level guitar player and found it comfortable and fun to play and it is a really good sounding guitar (particular at the lower end) especially when amplified. He particularly likes the neck profile of this Martin which is tapered and neither too far or too thin. A good value Martin that should last him years without the worry of the extra care you need to take with solid wood Martins so a good middle ground for us. Would recommend.Mr F. c.

I recent;y purchased these along with a couple other acoustic guitar accessories and I'll be honest, it's the first time I've ever actually ordered anything from musicians friend……and I am quite satisfied with my small purchase, delivery was fast, and the price was right. These bridge pins don't really affect the sound of the guitar at all, positive or negative, being they are only celluloid, but they are very stylish and I would recommend them to anyone who already owns a good sounding acoustic that wants to pimp it out a lil bit. Ya gotta enjoy the little things, ya know? Overall, good for 7 bucks, and REALLY stylish
I bought a used guitar and someone decided to remove the stock white bridge pins and replace them with black ones, that didn't fit. I ordered these white with abalone pins and it changed the look of my herringbone dreadnought completely. Sometimes pins can change the sound, but luckily these kept the guitar sounding the same. Perfect. I would recommend these to anyone. They look fantastic.Mike D.

I added the Tusq nut and bridge saddle to a new Dean Exotica quilt ash and the tone woke up. The highs are brighter and the lows sound cleaner but not necessarily louder. I removed all the plastic from contacting the strings and it makes a noticable difference. Highly recommendPatrick P.

Reviews:
I recently purchased a used Martin D15m Burst from Guitar Center. It sounded great in every way with the exception of the intonation. The guitar comes standard with a bone nut and saddle. I debated whether-or-not to replace the saddle with a man made material but I finally pulled the trigger. It's a relatively cheap and easy experiment. The compensation was perfect and it fixed the intonation problem without further modification. Now all strings are in tune everywhere on the fret board. As far as the tone of the guitar is concerned, it was a vast improvement. It cleared up the slightly muddy bass and balanced out the rest of the guitar tone perfectly. Mahogany is slightly darker when compared to spruce but now it can complete with a spruce topped Martin. I'm glad I tried it. It did require some sanding for height and depth. Make sure you take your time when sanding this saddle. You want to ensure direct and snug contact.Aaron
This replaced the plastic bridge on my Martin DRS2. It did require a little sanding so it would fit correctly – thickness. I also replaced the plastic bridge pins with the Graph Tech (4mm dot). I feel that the guitar is just a little brighter with a little more volume. They both probably contribute to the improved sound. I'm new to graph tech products but have now bought several items (bridges, bridge pins, nuts, & string trees) for various acoustic, electric, & hollow body guitars. I've been pleased!C-Ville Brent
I just purchased a Martin X1-DE and the guitar sounds great! The action was just a bit high for me so I decided to purchase the replacement saddle and sand it down 1 or 2 32nds to get it playing a little better. When I received the saddle, it wouldn't fit into the slot. In looking at the specs on the website, the ones on the package did not match. I called tech support and explained the situation as well as offering a suggestion on how to avoid shipping me the same one as a replacement. I waited over a week for the replacement and it was the same WRONG saddle. I went to Graph Tech's website and the one they sent (both times) is the one Graph Tech says should work, but it doesn't. I ended up using the original saddle and sanding it down. It is playing much better despite the frustrating path getting here.Donald

I replaced the plastic bridge pins and end pin with these. It gave me martin 00018 a more woody sound, less treble .Sanford

I had an Anthem SL put in a Martin 000-15m. The guy who installed it did not shave the bridge enough to compensate for the pickup thickness. I sanded it and lowered the action……then I got greedy and tried to lower it some more without getting fret buzz. Went too much and got buzz. So I bought this saddle and got it perfect. It fit perfect and was easy to sand. The compensation looked just like my factory bridge. If you have a Martin w this drop in style saddle, its really easy to lower your action yourself…..and cheap enough to buy 2 and see how low you can get it without buzz with the first one and then use the 2nd one to get action perfect321skindog
This bone bridge saddle came with the intonation contours that match my Martin HD-28's original Tusq bridge saddle. It required a bit of sanding to fit the slot, and for the string height I prefer, but the sound improvement compared to the original Tusq bridge saddle is immense. The guitar now has much better bass response and clearer overtones; almost a different instrument.williamr3797

I bought a used acoustic guitar for my son to learn on. I didn't realize exactly how much grime was on this guitar until I used this system. I wasn't happy with other methods of cleaning this guitar. It just didn't shine when I was done. I tried this and it looks brand new! The cloths were filthy when I was done. No wonder it didn't shine with other methods of cleaning. I didn't use the cloths in the kit because I didn't want to ruin them with all the dirt that was still on the guitar. I will probably use them to polish it and the rest of mine from here on out, but I'd probably still use an old soft cloth for the fretboard. They get dirty.CurlyQ
I bought this kit to clean up a demo model acoustic bass that I just bought. The finish had been slightly worn in several spots and the neck was very dirty. This kit easily did the job. After a couple hours of buffing and scrubbing, my bass seriously looks brand new. I did have to apply a couple coats of the wax, but the finish looks flawless now. Most impressively, however, is how nice the fretboard looks after applying the conditioner. The other products are great as well; although, I haven't tried the string cleaner yet. I would recommend this product with no reservations to anyone who wants to restore a used guitar, or anyone who just likes a clean guitar.random_geyser
This is a great product it as the kit includes all of the care and maintenance items required to keep your guitar looking and playing like new. Also protects the fretboard from cracks and blemishes by performing simple cleaning after playing. IMI highly recommend this product for the price!Jim
