Great little amp for the money. This is my first EL84 amp as I was after something different to my old EL34 Laneys & Marshall. This delivered what I was after. Both channels very useable – clean has quite a bit of headroom as a pedal platform. Drive channel sounds great – better with humbuckers than single coils to my ear, but very useable – very touch responsive and cleans up nicely when you roll off the vol. The reverb is fine but maybe a little over the top at higher settings: maybe useful for ambient stuff. Biggest surprise is the speaker – well balanced and sounds really tight – especially with humbuckers. Stock valves seem absolutely fine. The combo is nicely finished too. If you want the sound and are not bothered about brand names, this is fantastic value for money as a first valve amp, or as something that sounds a bit different. Easily loud enough for pub gigs. This item was purchased as a level 2 blemished item. The blemishes very minor and well within my ability to accept it that way. However, after receiving the amp I discovered that the reverb did not work. I tried several different guitars all with the same results – no reverb. Though the demos and reviews said the reverb wasn't the greatest there was still plenty of reverb available (too much according to some reviewers). Even with the reverb turned to 10 there was no reverb. I called MusiciansFriend and was told that a level 2 blemished item could have functions that didn't work. The fact that the reverb didn't work or that some items may not work on a level 2 blem should have been explained in the description I could not find this information anywhere.Chris
3 x 12AX7s and 2 x EL84s, solid (heavy!) chassis, reverb, effects loop, external speaker connection with switchable impedance – just what I wanted. The footswitch to change between clean and gain channels means you don't need pedals to get a boost. Only negative: the footswitch came in a heavy duty plastic bag which was stapled to the bottom of the cabinet, and difficult to remove. Sounds good on its own – all the tone without blowing your eardrums. Playing through my vintage Carlsbro 4 x 12 sounds better still.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I bought this amp based on the good print reviews and the way it sounded in you Tube reviews. I did a lot of homework and finally placed my order. I was excited when it showed up at my house and plugged my Jay Turser Les Paul copy right in. Boy, is this thing dark! I turned all the tone controls to 10. I changed the strings. I removed the covers from my pickups- that just made it dark and tinny. After three days I decided that I had to either send it back or make some changes. I took the speaker from a Squier 15 amp and installed it in the Bugera. Right away there was more life and clarity to the sound, though it still sounded tinny (because it's a speaker from a Squier 15), but it was some progress. Next I pulled tubes from a circa 1959 Curtis-Mathes console stereo and swapped them into the Bugera. Now we were getting somewhere- the overtones, the reason we use tubes, were now present and accounted for. The same console is full of Oxford speakers, which are a Jensen knockoff and well respected. I took an 8" from that and installed it in the V5. OH YEAH! Now this is a great little amp. The clean tones are super sweet, clear, full and bell-like with tons of sustain. The overdrive has a huge range of grit, and the reverb is better than any other amp I've had. So after installing a set of +/- 60 year old tubes and speaker, it sounds great. But out-of-the-box stock, I would have sent it back, no question. If you have a too-bright guitar or are willing to make upgrades, this amp is a super value. My one complaint about build quality is that the wattage selector switch is extremely touchy- it goes from .1 to 5 watts and has to be fiddled with to get it to stay on the 1 watt setting.Farmhand
This week I bought a duellist overdrive pedal from king of Tone, the Revival Drive from Origin Effects and this lovely little amp. The two pedals cost nearly £700 between them and the Bugera only £189 but my favourite tone comes from the Bugera itself largely because the built in attenuator allows you to really cook the single valves at pre amp and power amp stage without annoying the neighbours. This makes the Bugera a lot of fun. It’s tone control could be improved to raise the brightness but for the price I’m not complaining. This is definitely more of a British than an American tweed sound. And the addition of pedals – which it takes well – can potentially increase the brightness. The onboard 8 inch speaker is fine for practice and the amp is just about portable enough to use for travel. The speaker jack is accessible on the back panel, so it can be swapped easily for a guitar cabinet if you wanted to gig this machine or open up the sound (it’s 5 watts can still be loud enough for small venues). If, like me, you have been dependent on fender amps for home playing and you want a good alternative ‘Marshall’ sound at bedroom levels, then look no further!
Perfect at home tube amp. I generally use 1 watt mode. Great tone whether clean or breakup. Loves my telecaster and Boss BD-2 into it, and takes pedals great in general. Couldn’t get over how nice it looked when I unboxed mine, either. Beautiful looking amp on top of sounding great. Really an incredible value. Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
What it's not: Not a $1k boutique tube amp. Not a mid-size club amp (unless you have great monitors and a good sound guy). What it is: A well designed, very affordable little monster that will give enough stage volume at 5W for rehearsals in a full rock band or small club, and will also allow you to drive the output stage at that 1W or 1/2W setting for recording at home. The amp sounds best at 5W and driven into either a 4ohm cabinet or two 8ohm cabs. If you use it to drive an 8ohm cab, you are getting only 70% of its potential. I only use el84 based amps. i love their dark, throaty sound, and while this amp doesn't have the punch or snap I get from my 15W custom built el 84 amps, it sounds great for rehearsal or recording. I am a little bit worried about long-term build quality. The input jack is plastic. I have a hard time seeing that surviving a year of rehearsals without breaking. This is a great supplemental amp for rehearsals and recording. Very smartly designed. Good feature set. And if you like the el84 style sound, it delivers it above expectations at this price range. In these days of small solid state, practice amps, this little amp gives you tube tone and more at a very affordable price. A 12ax7 preamp tube and an EL84 power tube provide the tone along with built in reverb, 2 band EQ, gain and a "phat" overdrive switch for added crunch. The three stage attenuator is a nice touch. The stock Bugera tubes are OK but I switched them out with Tung-Sols which provided a rich creamy overdrive more to my liking. Great sound when plugged into my Orange 8" or 12" cab plus headphone jack for late night playing. Great amp for the price!Isom

Its extremely clean, and sounds beautiful with a guitar plugged straight in and dry without reverb or any effects. Additionally, the clean channel takes pedals very well. The dirty channel is fairly versatile. By messing with the dirty channels settings you can go from blues to rock, to early metal tones. Using different speaker cabs really makes a difference in the sound too. The amp itself feels very solid. The only negative I can say about this amp is the reverb. I ran across this head while researching 2 channel amps around the 20 watt mark. I've been using a 15W Tweaker combo (which I love), but couldn't get the desired range of sounds while playing live without expanding my already cluttered pedalboard. Since no stores were carrying one that I could hear in person, I had to resort to online videos to figure out whether or not I liked the tones this could put out. After months of agonizing, I finally bit the bullet and ordered it sight unseen (sound unheard?). I got it with Bugera's 2×12 closed back cabinet. Since I live in an apartment, the initial tweaking was done at a reasonably low volume. My humbucking PRS SE Santana was pretty muddy in the "normal" jack, but after switching to "bright" I quickly found some usable tones. The clean channel is very rich sounding and required a bit of fiddling with the treble and presence knobs to get a tone that would work with a band. Once dialed in, it took my pedals beautifully and let the guitar tone really shine through. The gain channel was disappointing. Anything past mild breakup sounded fizzy on the top end and muddy at the bottom. The shared EQ got a decent compromise between the gain and clean channels, but I was a bit underwhelmed. As soon as I took it to band practice and got the speakers moving some air, things improved dramatically. The clean channel stayed articulate and warm, and the gain channel sat so well in the mix I felt like I wasn't using any volume at all. There was still fizziness with higher gain, so I kept that channel to a mild overdrive that I could push with a boost pedal and saturate with a drive pedal. A cranked OD pedal on the clean channel took care of the rest of the gain. At stage volume, this covers lush clean to mild, classic rock overdrive all on its own. Got this as B stock, and since I repair amps, I took this amp apart and tested the tubes. The tubes are Tung Sol reissue copies and they sound great—let them break in first, give it about four or five months of intermittent use. You'll be very pleased with the results, I can tell you, the sound stage and head room are outstanding, the EL-34's positively purr! I had to remove the lead free solder from all of the tube sockets, as they turned out to be cold solder joints (ergo, why I got a deal on the amp, as a B stock customer return.) I used leaded solder and since I have been soldering for over 43 years of my life, the work turned out very nicely… Surprise! The amp sounded far, far better than it had originally, if you have the skills with solder wick and a soldering iron, give it a shot, you won't regret it!! 99% of the problems with these amps are simply due to the tube sockets being hand soldered incorrectly, the main board, which is wave soldered, is 100% perfect, even with the lead free solder used. The Fender to Marshall ISF pot works, interesting tones produced by this, you'll enjoy the results… The PC boards use surface mounted components, for the most part, so don't buy this amp thinking that you can modify it that easily, you can't and it really is not necessary, the amp sings fine, just as it is!ejmendoza

The amp sounded far, far better than it had originally, if you have the skills with solder wick and a soldering iron, give it a shot, you won't regret it!! 99% of the problems with these amps are simply due to the tube sockets being hand soldered incorrectly, the main board, which is wave soldered, is 100% perfect, even with the lead free solder used. The Fender to Marshall ISF pot works, interesting tones produced by this, you'll enjoy the results… The PC boards use surface mounted components, for the most part, so don't buy this amp thinking that you can modify it that easily, you can't and it really is not necessary, the amp sings fine, just as it is!ejmendoza

Lots has been said about these Burgera amps. I've had two of the V22 versions. This is my first V55 version – which has the 6L6 tubes for that more fendery clean headroom sound. The larger cab gives some warmth to all of that. It does look kinda empty behind there -being it has one 12 inch 70 watt speaker. Consider the 60 watt fender DeVille which either gives you a 410 or a 212 and about the same size cabinet closure. ..Or the Twin reverb. I think Bugera wanted you to feel like you had one of these kind of amps. However at 55 Watts I would say it feels a little lacking if you compare it to those other amps. So don't do that! On its own it's great and totally nails that ZZ Top Brown Sugar sound with thick woody notes. I find the volume to be very tame on it. Plenty of headroom and takes pedals better than my Hot Rod Deluxe. The reverb on it is just okay it's not awful ..but it's nothing super exciting either. Bugera used a Hall Reverb chip on it and it does get the job done. I wish they would have used a spring reverb chip instead. Some have complained that the clean and game channel shares the same EQ, but that's no big deal to me. On initial fire up you may hear the highs to be a bit metallic and the lows a bit flubby. No worries, it just means the speaker needs to be broken in a bit. Once you do – it warms up nicely and the highs get their magic back pretty quick. I've heard it said that it takes about 2 weeks to break the speaker in real good. After that they say you won't want to replace it. Anyway Some things that stand out: Great Tube tone and volume Looks classic and super sharp .. I have no problems displaying it in my living room. Super quiet and no noise coming out of it. Concerns: You will swear this thing is bolted to the floor when you go to pick it up! lol – yes it's heavy. Bugera is known for installing crappy tubes in these. Meaning they don't last very long so you better have a set ready. These amps are known to give you rattle, hiss and static right out of the box from bad tubes. I got lucky on this one and sounded great time the get-go. Best to buy this amp from an established retailer like Sweetwater in case you get a bad one. That weight!!!
This amp sounds like the old Fender tube amps, I love it. If there could be one improvement, it would be to have the true spring reverb. The tone is incredible, and I love the look. I used to play through a Marshall 4×12 cab loaded with GT 75 Celestions. I was a heavy amp owing to the fact it had 4 speakers so I wanted something a little lighter and I came across this Bugera 2×12 with the Turbosound speakers. This is an impressive Cab and is versatile. You can run it in stereo or bridged mono, and it's got some great power handling capabilities. The sound is very clear and if you crank up the bass in your amp head or effects, it can get very "throaty". For the money, this is a big bang for the buck. Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
Bought this head for 162 ChF and combined with the Vox BC108 (85,-) it is a fantastic value. I should say, it is my first all-valve amp so I can't make many comparisons, but here is my general review. The amp reacts very nicely to changes in my guitar's output. Turning down the guitar volume or playing very softly gives me a clean sound even with lots of gain. The distortion is generally very harmonic and fuzzy. You can absolutely get a metal tone from this with a set of (higher output) humbuckers. You will need the "Phat" switch for anything high-gain, which will bypass the EQ, but to me it sounds great. The reverb sounds quite good and is very useful. The build quality and looks seem top-notch. There are three minor drawbacks. Firstly, even at 0,1 Watt it's fairly loud. Absolutely fine for lower gain tones, but late night metal in an apartment will be tough. Secondly, with headphones plugged in, the attenuator (wattage setting) is bypassed, so depending on the headphones high gain tones might deafen you. Thirdly (and this is a very minor nitpick), the Bass and Treble knobs don't have as much range as I'm used to. TLDR: Overall if you're looking for a simple old-school head with a fantastic value, this surely has to be it. All of my (admittedly nitpicky) issues with it can be fixed with an overdrive pedal.
First impression: On unboxing, the T5 did not make a great first impression. I thought it was B stock! It was literally covered in fingerprints! That greasy fingerprint look just doesn’t go well on black and chrome. It also had what looked like a tape glue mark near the logo. I got a good clean with a dry cloth. What a beautiful looking piece of gear this is, a vintage look that is to die for. The Bugera T5 Infinium Tube Amplifier is well built. It is heavy, certainly but well supported by a sturdy leather vintage style handle that makes it super portable. Tall rubber feet gave the T5 plenty of clearance to avoid cab handles. The front panel: The front panel sports a standard input jack socket, 5 Knobs, a “Phat” switch, a jeweled power light and a power switch. There is no “standby” switch. A matching chrome and black Bugera logo fronts the chrome cage. The controls: The Gain control increasingly pushes the amp into saturation as it is rotated clockwise producing a very usable overdrive. The treble and bass controls work as one expects – nothing unexpected there. The reverb was something of a surprise. Sounding rather “springy”, especially when added tastefully. A super reverberant wash is available beyond the 12 O’clock position. The Volume knob, perversely, does not seem to add volume. There is hardly and noticeable difference at all between the 11 o’clock position and when fully clockwise. Where the REAL volume push lies, is with the Phat switch. The Phat switch boosts the volume while bypassing the EQ. It certainly does make a huge difference – when engaged, one never wants to switch it off! The Back Panel: Power is via 3 pin IEC “kettle” plug. Also here are two quarter inch jacks. The first is for a 4 ohm speaker, although this is labeled as a minimum load, you can use 8 or 16 ohm cabs. The second jack is for headphones. Extra points to Bugera for not using a mini jack here! Bugera eliminate bias issues using what they call their “infinium” system. LED indicators show when a tube needs replacing. The T5’s is next to the phones jack socket. Inside: Under the hood things also look great but you will only really get to see this if you are curious or wish to swop out or replace tubes. Removing the cage reveals the transformers, tubes and a screen printed Bugera logo – it’s like an art piece! The tubes are very secure and it takes some determination to remove them – a good thing as secure is better. The inside of a T5 chassis reveals considerable digital circuitry – probably the reverb. Performance: For 5 Watts the T5 is certainly much louder than one expects. If your personal history is primarily solid state amps, this amplifier will be a wake up call as to why guitarists everywhere have refused to abandon tubes for so long. Blues tones from the T5 are beautiful – everything from almost clean to great crunch – everything a blues player looks for. Let down: I REALLY wanted this amp but it was let down by one thing. The amp I was using had an unpleasant "fuzzyness" when trying to get the cleanest possible sound out of it. This "fuzzyness" hung in the dying tail of a note and sounded exactly like a crossover problem in a push pull amp – but this is a Class A amp so how could that be?! When playing power chords it sounded like intermodulation – something didn’t sound right to me. Ironically, "digital noise" in my digital practice amp is WHY I wanted a tube amp in the first place! This was a different type of noise but just as distracting. I had no EL84’s so couldn't test that – but I did have a lower gain 12AU7 tube so was able to swop that with the 12AX7 hoping like crazy that it was a tube issue and that the problem would vanish (because I really DID like this amp) but it did not help. In the end, I reluctantly packed up the T5 and returned it. If you do get a chance, try one, I recommend this simply because if I just got a dud or damaged B stoc

Great sounding clean tones for playing at home, which is why i bought it – my beloved Mustang 1.1 started having issues and I MUST have a great clean tone to relax. Wanted a tube amp and did my research. Decided on the Blackstar. I must say I'm extremely happy with it. The reverb is KILLER to my ear and does a great job at adding shimmer without destroying the tone. No external effects are needed to get a gorgeous clean tone – I use my Zoom G3Xn into the front end to get univibe and compression. The effects loop is very functional. The amp can be very bass heavy, depending on your instrument, but if you run a 10 band EQ (go with MXR) in the loop you amp can achieve any tonal result you want. My best sound comes with everything at 12, with some of the bass rolled off with the MXR EQ – but its just a matter of taste i guess. This amp moves a lot of air when you use the drive channel, and if your not pleased with the amps distortion it does respond really well to distortion pedals. I'm mostly in the clean blues zone but must brag on the amps darker side: it can get very loud and stay rich. I haven't tried any of the direct recording features. The 2 selectable characters of clean that the amp offers thrill me and ,again, the reverb is classy and a bit different from other amps ( I read that is a room reverb). Highly recommended.Tim H.
This amp out of the box sounds fantastic. Crystal clear clean tones and a snarly gain channel that lets you choose between a more American gain tone and a British gain tone. I would say ‘cater for everyone’. But, I received my first amp and within an hour of playing I’d noticed a loud ‘POP’ when changing channels. This pop occurred if a note was being played at the same time as the channel change. (Footswitch and Amp buttons) So, of course I returned the Amp to PMT. they arranged DPD next working day collection for me, completely hassle free. I awaited my next amp, as a direct replacement. A few days later the next Blackstar HT-5R mkii arrived, box fresh like the last. I plugged the amp in, let the tubes warm and away I went. Within minutes of found a great tone again, but the loud ‘POP’ I heard from the first unit was there again on this amp. I tried 4 sockets in the house in case there was any kind of interference/static, but to no avail. Absolutely gutted, I called PMT again. The amp was returned for the second time. Apparently this hasn’t happened to anyone else, I may just be unlucky or the amp may not get along with the electrics in my home. Just check this out as soon as you buy one. I’ve tried two other valve amps on my house since, including a Blackstar Artist 10 AE and an Orange terror with cab, and there’s absolutely zero noise with these. Very important to note here, this is not a slam of PMT, they’ve been absolutely brilliant throughout this whole thing. Customer service is second to none and they are very easy to contact. Used these for a very long time and I will be returning once stores open to try out a new amp.Jack H.
Overall: So, I have been playing guitar for 40 years, always used Marshall's, So I did a bit of research, And found that 2 guys from the research and development team at Marshall for almost 20 years were trying to make some changes on some Marshall amps, Well Marshall said, "No", and these 2 guys decided to leave and start their own Co. Well just let me say, This 50 Watt head, Loaded with British sound and quality, could not be better! So many different features, and options of tone is incredible! Anyone looking to buy a Marshall head for over 2k, buy one of these!! you will not be disappointed! My god it sounds incredible! This is in great shape. i bought it in the spring of 2020, and it works perfectly. it s just not my sound. if you like high gain, this thing is for you. the drive channel makes one of the best distortion sounds i ve ever heard, but i m more of an overdrive and fuzz guy it turns out.with power scaling, a headphone/line-out with cab sim choices, a boost-able fix loop, and, again, an absolute monster of a drive channel, this is great for modern playing and recording. it s a great pedal platform too.

This little five watt amp has the heart of a Lion. Clean channel is from crisp and articulate to warm and wrap it up in a sweater goodness. The drive channel with the greater level of tone control can be any sound you want, truly. It's up to you. I drive this amp through a close backed cabinet of my own design made with plank spruce and 8" Jensen Mod 35 speakers. It sounds amazing. Rich full tone and great response to picking level (hit it hard and it'll bark at you. Soft and it will whisper too.) It also has digital reverb which for me coming from spring will take a little getting used to. Overall a great addition to anyone's arsenal of amps.codboy61
I bought this strictly for my bedroom but found it's much more. It gets loud enough for band practice on the dirty channel and the clean with the volume up gets a nice breakup. It handles pedals well in the loop or an overdrive out front. I don't care for the morph when it's fully left or right on the dirty channel but you get nice tones on the clean side. The attenuator is the reason I bought it and I love it. I A/B'd it with the ht5 and couldn't see spending the extra cash on the Blackstar. Then I A/B'd with my modded dsl15h on triode (7 watt) and it made me wonder how much of the signal is tube and how much is solid state, but I don't know if that's fair given the Marshall has 4 12ax7 and 2 6v6 tubes. Can't speak to durability yet but it seems well built, and I haven't used the emulated out. All in all I'd recommend it for the price and the featuresgbob61

Testata valvolare di 120 watt, mettiamo che siano solo 100: potenza comunque spaventosa. E non a scapito della qualità. Canale clean ottimo, canale distorto devastante. La rabbia delle valvole si sente già a volume 2; evidentemente è stato fatto un gran lavoro anche sul pre, oltre che sul finale. Le 6l6 tirano fuori un suono grosso, potente; regolando i toni si va dagli immensi Who al metal più moderno. Ma a qualcuno piacciono i distorti, senza però esagerare? Prema nella splendida pedaliera l'apposito comando, o prema a mano il bottone situato tra le regolazioni del clean, e scoprirà un crunch meraviglioso, bello e potente quasi come il distorto. Semplice ma geniale separare i comandi del riverbero e del presence; ogni canale ha il suo. Lavorare sul presence fa scoprire suoni infiniti. L'ho portato fino a 5 di volume: una botta che non vi dico, con rumore di fondo quasi inesistente. E' anche bello, come oggetto; send e return irrinunciabili, in un ampli serio. Il tutto a 399 euro, spese di spedizione gratis. Bartolini lo conosciamo, ditta seria e competente. Ma il merito principale è di Strumentimusicali: pago il mercoledì mattina, il venerdì alle 11 suono già il mio Bugera. Niente da fare, mi spiace per gli altri: loro in Italia sono n. 1, non esiste concorrenza. Penso che anche in Europa possano dire la loro: non ho mai comprato fuori dall'italia, ma dubito che vi sia qualcuno di così professionale, veloce e con prezzi ottimi come loro. I was looking for a tube amp head and a 112 cab. Like a lot of people I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I wanted something that would work for what I do. When I got the amp it worked and as advised a let the power tubes warm up before I used it. this is a list of features I really like. 1. A good built in reverb. 2. An effect loop. 3. A switch for 4,8 and 16 Ohm speakers. 4. Came with a foot switch that that controls the channels and turn the reverb on or off 5. Two channels. A clean and a dirty. 6. Responsive tone and volume knobs. 7. Four pre-amp and two power-amp tubes. 8. The Infinity self bias feature for changing tubes. 9. One of the best clean channels I've ever used on a tube amp. 10. Works very well with pedals and effects units. 11. A indicator in back to let you know if the tubes need to be replaced. 12. A great price for a 50 watt all tube amp. 13. Looks great, almost like a Vox Night Train(which I believe Bugera modeled this after). 14. Works extremely well with the Burgera 112TS cab. Great cab by the way. 15. The stock tubes aren't that good, but then again you can't except much for an inexpensive tube amp. I love and enjoy playing different kinds of music, but I love my metal :). I put in a set of GT 6L6GEs, a EH 12AX7 in V1, a Tung Sol 12 AX7 in V2, a EH 12AX7 in V3 and a EH 12AX7 in V4. One exception is an Orange Micro Dark hybrid I still own. This is my first all tube amp, and to me, the G20 provides "better" tones than any of my others. The G20 feels well built, with metal knobs & switches, solid connectors, and nice tolex with everything straight. The Morph knob adds great variety and tone controls work well. I have played it through 3 similar 1×12 open-back pine cabinets with Celestion Rocker 50, V-Type, and WGS ET-65 speakers. It sounds different with each one providing their own character. My previous right-angle instrument cable did not fit well with the input location and upgrading with a straight Kirlin cable was a noticeable improvement. The amp sounds good with a 1994 Fender Am.Std. Strat – getting nice clean and bluesy tones. Mostly, I've played a 2014 GLP Studio with 490s. With the Gain at 12 o'clock & Volume on 10, the Overdrive channel provides a nice, well, overdrive. The cleans are nice – clear and chimey. With Clean Volume at 3 o'clock, to match the gain settings when channel switching, it gets a bit dirty when guitar volume approaches 10. The Master allows you to get the tone you like and adjust the volume. With the above settings, the Master on 1, the amp is pretty loud in a 24' x 16' room. I have found it responsive to volume and tone adjustments on the guitar and pick attack. The reverb seems good (set on 1), but the cabinets with their location provide a certain amount of reverb so I have a hard time telling how effective it is otherwise. I really like this amp! It is quiet and can produce a variety of very nice guitar tones. I'm hoping the Infinium technology eases future tube changes and lets me know when it is needed. Got this as B stock, and since I repair amps, I took this amp apart and tested the tubes. The tubes are Tung Sol reissue copies and they sound great—let them break in first, give it about four or five months of intermittent use. You'll be very pleased with the results, I can tell you, the sound stage and head room are outstanding, the EL-34's positively purr! I had to remove the lead free solder from all of the tube sockets, as they turned out to be cold solder joints (ergo, why I got a deal on the amp, as a B stock customer return.) I used leaded solder and since I have been soldering for over 43 years of my life, the work turned out very nicely… Surprise! The amp sounded far, far better than it had originally, if you have the skills with solder wick and a soldering iron, give it a shot, you won't regret it!! 99% of the problems with these amps are simply due to the tube sockets being hand soldered incorrectly, the main board, which is wave soldered, is 100% perfect, even with the lead free solder used. The Fender to Marshall ISF pot works, interesting tones produced by this, you'll enjoy the results… The PC boards use surface mounted components, for the most part, so don't buy this amp thinking that you can modify it that easily, you can't and it really is not necessary, the amp sings fine, just as it is!ejmendoza

Where do I start? Well, how about, this is the best tube amp I have ever played! 62 years with many guitars and many amps, some owned, some borrowed, and some tested in music shops, might give me a little credibility. I have loved a Fender Twin Reverb, made in the 50s that my uncle Keith, and my guitar mentor, loaned me for a while. It just sounded so good. Never could seem to find cash, or justification to buy a tube amp, but have owned a hal a dozen solid states. THEN THIS LITTLE BEAUTY! Having played the Twin for a couple of years, and others such as a Mesa Boogie, VOX's, and too many others to recall, THIS monster sounds like most of them with just little tweaks of the knobs and my guitar switches. I have played country, 60s and 70s rock, blues, finger-style instrumentals, gospel, etc. I believe this is the PERFECT combo, with the correct (JJ) tubes, a sweet (and dirty when desired) Seventy/80 speaker, and an amazing diversity of sounds, which works in every genre I play! I do not know how anyone can find reason to bad mouth this. I had it for 2 weeks, was asked to fill an absent, guitarist's spot at an outdoor venue, I took this little amp. We played to an area the size of a football field. I set the amp on 1 Watt, until I could hear it cleanly (behind me on stage), let the sound man mic and mix me in. Never had to turn it above about 4, with gain between 1 and 4, and many complemented me on my sound, and musicians asked me WHAT IS THAT LITTLE AMP? Those are the good points. I can only think of two piddly things I would like to see changed, and one would be a standby switch, and the second being a way to run the external speaker WITHOUT cutting off the amp speaker. Until then, I will just keep playing this sweetheart amp, and enjoy the statements about "my sound," and the question of WHAT IS THAT LITTLE AMP? Keep playing everybody…and maybe buy one of these. These amps are fantastic, and at these bargain prices you simply can't go wrong. I upgraded the reverb tank in mine to a Mod and changed the speaker for a Warehouse GC12. OMG, this thing is a beast! Another WGS option I've seen people use is the ET65 for a more British tone, also with good results. The stock speaker is not too bad, but this one simple upgrade of swapping the speaker takes the amp to the next level. It just sounds awesome. The upgraded reverb tank is also an improvement, but not as much as I thought it would be. If I had to do it over again I would just take out the stock tank and use a pedal for reverb and make the amp even lighter to haul around. The more important upgrade imo is the speaker. It really makes a world of difference. Grab one reasonably while you still can, the price keeps creeping up and up and up… !Jeff
After a number of FEDEX issues, I received my amp about 5 days later than estimated. It did arrive in excellent condition and was worth the wait. The Stage Right 611815 has a really sweet tone that sounds particularly good with the single coil pickups on my Fender Sratocaster Player. It breaks up nicely! The reverb works perfectly, and is fine for most playing but you might want an external reverb unit if you are playing Dick Dale tunes. A really nice feature for home playing is the 15W/1W switch, where you can limit the amp to 1 W (be aware that with sound, you have to increase the wattage by 10 times to double the perceived volume, so the 1W setting is a lot more than 1/15th as loud as the 15W setting). It is a bit unusual to have a tone control along with the more common bass, middle and treble controls. Personally, I would have labeled the Tone control as Presence, because that is what it seems to be. I have mostly been playing in the 1W mode with all the controls (including reverb) at 12 o clock, and that is working out great. As far as construction, the amp looks fantastic and gives a vintage look that hints at its tone! The dark grill cloth provides a nice contrast with the blonde tolex, giving a true vintage appearance. The retro red, jeweled pilot light and metal toggle switch complement the vintage styling Keeping with the vintage look, the control panel is chrome with retro chicken head knobs. As others have mentioned, the control names are a little bit difficult to read on the chrome panel. After you use the controls once, you know where they are, so does it really matter (I noticed the blonde version of the Fender Blues Jr also uses a chrome control panel…probably where Monoprice got the idea)? The tolex is neatly installed and glued, at least the parts that are exposed. The leather handle is also reminiscent of old school amps. And I really like the metal corner protectors…very nice. As proudly announced by a badge on the front panel, the amp is equipped with a Celestion speaker…a Seventy 80 The only criticism of the construction, and it is minor, is that the 8 external screws are not chamfered properly to mesh with the finishing washers, which result in the screw heads protruding above the washers. The amp has a jack for an external speaker. When you plug in an external speaker, the internal speaker is shut off, as is common with guitar amps. The reason is if you plug in an external 8 ohm speaker and the internal speaker would still be on, a (combined) 4 ohm load would be presented to the amplifier, which it is not designed to handle. The back is open. The line cord is not detachable, but can be conveniently stowed in the back of the amp. The amp has an effects loop, which I have not tried yet. The amp is now equipped with JJ brand tubes and a metal, two spring, reverb tank, which are upgrades from the original issue I wish I could find a nice, economical (i.e. $20) dust cover for the amp. The only ones I can find are priced at $50 or more, a bit much for protecting an inexpensive amp. In conclusion, the Stage Right 611815 amp looks great and sounds great, and I highly recommend it.Chris

Great sounding clean tones for playing at home, which is why i bought it – my beloved Mustang 1.1 started having issues and I MUST have a great clean tone to relax. Wanted a tube amp and did my research. Decided on the Blackstar. I must say I'm extremely happy with it. The reverb is KILLER to my ear and does a great job at adding shimmer without destroying the tone. No external effects are needed to get a gorgeous clean tone – I use my Zoom G3Xn into the front end to get univibe and compression. The effects loop is very functional. The amp can be very bass heavy, depending on your instrument, but if you run a 10 band EQ (go with MXR) in the loop you amp can achieve any tonal result you want. My best sound comes with everything at 12, with some of the bass rolled off with the MXR EQ – but its just a matter of taste i guess. This amp moves a lot of air when you use the drive channel, and if your not pleased with the amps distortion it does respond really well to distortion pedals. I'm mostly in the clean blues zone but must brag on the amps darker side: it can get very loud and stay rich. I haven't tried any of the direct recording features. The 2 selectable characters of clean that the amp offers thrill me and ,again, the reverb is classy and a bit different from other amps ( I read that is a room reverb). Highly recommended.Tim H.
This amp out of the box sounds fantastic. Crystal clear clean tones and a snarly gain channel that lets you choose between a more American gain tone and a British gain tone. I would say ‘cater for everyone’. But, I received my first amp and within an hour of playing I’d noticed a loud ‘POP’ when changing channels. This pop occurred if a note was being played at the same time as the channel change. (Footswitch and Amp buttons) So, of course I returned the Amp to PMT. they arranged DPD next working day collection for me, completely hassle free. I awaited my next amp, as a direct replacement. A few days later the next Blackstar HT-5R mkii arrived, box fresh like the last. I plugged the amp in, let the tubes warm and away I went. Within minutes of found a great tone again, but the loud ‘POP’ I heard from the first unit was there again on this amp. I tried 4 sockets in the house in case there was any kind of interference/static, but to no avail. Absolutely gutted, I called PMT again. The amp was returned for the second time. Apparently this hasn’t happened to anyone else, I may just be unlucky or the amp may not get along with the electrics in my home. Just check this out as soon as you buy one. I’ve tried two other valve amps on my house since, including a Blackstar Artist 10 AE and an Orange terror with cab, and there’s absolutely zero noise with these. Very important to note here, this is not a slam of PMT, they’ve been absolutely brilliant throughout this whole thing. Customer service is second to none and they are very easy to contact. Used these for a very long time and I will be returning once stores open to try out a new amp.Jack H.
Overall: So, I have been playing guitar for 40 years, always used Marshall's, So I did a bit of research, And found that 2 guys from the research and development team at Marshall for almost 20 years were trying to make some changes on some Marshall amps, Well Marshall said, "No", and these 2 guys decided to leave and start their own Co. Well just let me say, This 50 Watt head, Loaded with British sound and quality, could not be better! So many different features, and options of tone is incredible! Anyone looking to buy a Marshall head for over 2k, buy one of these!! you will not be disappointed! My god it sounds incredible! This is the amp and tone I have been in search of. It has plenty of gain for metal and the EQ dials in nicely. The clean channel is excellent as well. You will not find a better amp for the price, what a killer value! You could potentially spend a lot of money on an amp of this caliber, but probably won't get any better tone quality for spending lot's of extra $! It has all the knobs, bell's and whistles that you'll ever need, including a four button footswitch; clean, crunch, lead and FX/boost. There are some bad reviews on Bugera amps like when an expelled tube blows a fuse and someone thinks that it deems It a piece of junk. Be prepared this amp is bulky heavy but sounds beautiful. The clean channel crisp clear. The crunchy gain is FLIPPIN CRAZY great tone. And for the lead channel well its the same depending on how you have your settings. I just completed my Mod 102 kit. An excellent experience! I was delighted with the quality of components, clarity of instructions, and, perhaps most importantly, the sound of the amp. It is very loud – currently running into my Fender Twin Reverb cab (2×12) and very sweet! I will be running it into a new 1×12 cab with a new Celestion G12 M Heritage 'Greenback' when I get a case for the speaker (on order). My only criticism (and something to look out for) is that the chassis is very nicely painted in gray gunmetal paint. Even following the directions to file all the holes, it is very hard to get a good ground connection at every point a terminal strip connects. I worried about this, and about 1/3rd of the way through the build, took an ohm meter to check all the connections, and as I had suspected, some of the connections were not great (9-10 ohms or so!) So I removed the terminal strips (with the components I had already soldered still attached) and scraped away the paint under the tabs of the strips to ensure a good connection. Re-testing showed virtually zero resistance. I'd strongly recommend scraping the paint away at all holes under the chassis before getting started on the build. Even better, suggest that Amplified Parts leave the inside chassis unpainted (at least around the important holes). Aside that one criticism, I am delighted with the kit and with Amplified Parts. Everything was delivered promptly and they are a class outift. I'll probably try some of their other kits soon.vpmerlyn
I spent three evenings building the MOD102. The instructions are very easy to understand and the amp has a great Fender sound. I had one grounding issue that was easily fixed with a little help from tech support, which was excellent. If you're good at following step by step instructions and can solder well this is a fun little amp to build. Only small issue is the labels. They could stand an improvement.Brandon
I just finished this amp build and it sounds fantastic! I also just finished a Marshall 18 Watt clone and I have to say that the Mod102+ holds its own very nicely alongside the Marshall. In fact, I will probably use the Mod102+ for recording because it sounds amazing at lower volumes (the Marshall is loud AF). Honestly, if I were only going to build one of them today, it would be the Mod. I'm blown away by the tone! Great kit with excellent instructions. Great bang for the buck. The parts all seem to be top quality. I love the old style cloth solid core wire, too. I find it much easier to work with than modern stranded wire. The labels are a bit lame but I covered them with packing tape as suggested before cutting them out and they look fine. If you're thinking about building an amp, build this one.danjbeckett

I was really surprised at how good this amp sounds. Years ago I tried Line 6 and was not at all happy with the tone; but this is another story. It does take me awhile to dial in a specific classic rock tone, but when I do, it sounds better than any other amp that I've tried. I have tried the Marshall Code, Blackstar id Core, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Katana; as well as some all tube amps. The only other amp that is a close 2nd is the Fender Mustang GTX; also a great amp. The Spider V is fairly easy to operate. It offers lots of choices for amp models and cabinets. I like that it has variations of a mic'd cabinet. The parametric eq is a plus. I haven't played around too much with the effects yet, so I can't comment on that. The only negative thing I could say is that when you're editing a preset and want to hear how it sounds before you save it, you only have a short time before it goes back to the Home Screen. This really is a small price to pay for the quality of the amp and all the versatility it has. I like the App too. Musicians Friend got me a great on this as well; and their agent is following up making sure that I'm satisfied. The funny thing is that I came across this by accident. I placed an order for a Peavey amp that was on back order. I called Peavey multiple times, but they never returned my call. I also emailed them, but they didn't respond to that either. As far as I'm concerned, Peavey doesn't have any customer support.crrkr
Been playing about a year, so my review is from the perspective of a complete newbie. The things I like- Lots of presets, mobile app functions, computer interface, and loads of user created effects available. Nice and loud, but no real basis of comparison to say if clarity is better or worse than other comparable amps. Don't likes- The micro-usb interface. I had to get an adapter and it's just not as good a connection as nearly anything else would be. IMHO, micro-usb is far too flimsy. Connecting to PC is far more problematic than just using the spider mobile app. It's probably a little more complicated than it should be for a beginner, but it's feature rich for the money.Nic T
I had a Line 6 120w amp for years that I regrettably sold a while ago and was looking for another amp. I looked at all the amp reviews I could find and decided that the new Katana was the way to go. I got the Katana home and absolutely loved it but the second day I had it it started a really loud buzzing that I couldn't stop. It probably was an easy fix but the fact is the amp was way too powerful for my purposes and their software wasn't compatible with the new Catalina OS. I returned and started looking again. I saw the 60w Spider V and the price was excellent so I made an on the spot decision to buy another Line 6 and I'm really glad I did. The tones this amp can get are incredible. There are so many amp models and cabs that you can dial in pretty much any tone you want from a crispy snapback country clean to the most vicious heavy metal and everything in between. You can use the presets as they are or you can use them as a baseline and tweak to your own liking or you can start from scratch and build your own rig from the ground up. The controls are intuitive and easy to use but there are some features where you'd have to be a professional to really know how to use or even care to use. The software and the mobile app are so easy to use and give you all the options at your fingertips. The amp comes with a lot of presets that I find are completely useless but there are a lot that are excellent as I already talked about. There are only four empty slots for your own custom presets and I wish there were more but if you use the mobile app you can have your own tone library on there. I bought the FBV3 foot controller so that gives me a lot of flexibility to have various effects. One of the limitations is the lack of good effects though. There's enough that if you work at it you can get a decent sound but there could be some better ones. Overall I would recommend the amp. Don't listen to the naysayers or the amp snobs, it's a quality amp and extremely versatile.Just Plain Joe

Ich hatte mir den Bogner als kleines Recording-Besteck im Verbund mit meinem Mooer Radar (IR-Loader/Cab-Sim) bestellt. Erster Eindruck :das Teil ist super verarbeitet, zweiter Eindruck:toll ausgestattet (Fx-Loop, 2 Gainstufen, 3 Einstellungen für die Darstellung der Mitten, 3 Einstellungen Pre-Eq plus 4-Band Klangregelung) Der Amp basiert auf dem Bogner xtc (?) Drive Pedal und somit ist tatsächlich auch Bogner drin! Im Drive-Bereich kann er ALLES, von Vintage-Crunch bis Djent ist alles machbar, der Amp klingt fett, aber trotzdem sauber, dass es kein Röhrenamp ist, fällt überhaupt nicht auf, seine 30 Class-D Watt sind für Zuhause und kleinere Proben völlig ausreichend. Nur Clean kann er nicht wirklich…. Wie gesagt, ich nutze ihn mir einem Mooer Radar für Recording und vermisse einen großen Röhrenamp mal so gar nicht!!! Für mich ist der Amp eine der besten Recording-Lösungen ever! Plus: Ausstattung, Sound, Spielgefühl, Verarbeitung Minus: kann nicht wirklich clean
