Reviews:
Overall: I recently purchased a Breedlove ECO Myrtlewood fretless bass and could not be happier. The fit and finish is supurb for this price point (it is as good as my $4,000 Alembic) and the sound is great! zZounds had it in my greedy fingers in two days in perfect condition. I needed to do a few minor things, just personal preference stuff, upon receiving it but out of the box it was still awesome and for sure worthy of 5 stars.1) The fretboard was a bit rough but 3000 sandpaper and a coat of lemon oil solved that issue.2) I immediately replaced the strings with Fender 9120 tape wound round wounds which really opened up the sound verses the cheap flat wounds that came on it. I have used the tape wounds for years on my Alembic fretless as well as my Fender Precision A/E fretless and love them. 3) I replaced the bridge and nut with bone verses the plastic it came with. 4) The Fishman electronics sound decent. I have multiple amp rigs but using this with either my Phil Jones Session 77 for small gigs or my Peavey 208 as a stage monitor with a DI to the FOH providing rich deep bass and crisp highs. I have not tried it with my big rigs as I use FOH support when needed.5) The on board tuner is a great idea but it is not the easiest to see. I just use a tuner pedal which to me is much easier and also functions as a mute when changing basses.I play this bass along with an old Kay upright in a 4 piece all acoustic group and it sounds fantastic. It is not prone to premature feedback like a lot of acoustic basses I have played and the balance playing with a strap is very good. It is not neck heavy and slippery on the back like the Ovation it replaced. The 34" scale was perfect for me and I would not have gotten it otherwise as all of my basses (except the uprights) are 34". As soon as I unpacked it and looked at the finish I bought a Road Runner hard case, it is the best $150 you can spend. This is an instrument worth protecting! I am extremely pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it. I have rated it 5 stars all the way excet for the dealer support which I have not had to use so I have no basis for rating. I am sure if needed Breedlove will take care of it.In summation, this is a very high quality instrument at a great price delivered lightning fast in perfect condition.Stephen
I felt compelled to write a review because there is a bad review up here saying the guitar doesnt get much bass. Lol. I'm sorry but it is made with an intentionally small body- that is what happens when you make a guitar with a small body and a shorter scale doesnt help. If you want bass- get a breedlove concerto body guitar or a dreadnought- get one with rosewood back and sides and spruce top. Guitars under a certain price half a G lets say… dont really typically have much bass and the breedlove discovery concertos are some of the best bass frequency producing guitars under that price point. But to really get bass you gotta spend a lot of income on a solid rosewood back and sides and a dreadnought- then youll probably have too much when you record and have to switch to nickel bronze monels and eq it on the recording console. happens all the time with martin dreadnoughts and big jumbos. This is a great sounding super well setup guitar for travel or younger players or just small people. It comes incredibly well setup for the price- a really great job on the nut height and string slots. perfect saddle height. all new guitars will probably need a truss rod adjustment after theyve had strings up to tension for a month or two. But Breedlove are really sending out some nice guitars- though I only buy from my local shop and I've never bought one from a big warehouse like musiciansfriend.Clay
The PROS: this is a very well made guitar with a lot of nice construction (fretwork, woods, clear-coat and binding are all top notch). Ok, so… CONS: opposite of a Taylor, the neck is chunky and not in a good way. Chunky as in Clunky. The sound is very hi mid focused, but really not like a typical Mahogany: no sweetness, no low end at all. So, neck is slow and action out of box was high (needs saddle work). Seems Breedlove excels puts effort into construction but cant design for comfort/sound. Just one player's two cents.Go_Pats
2. Breedlove Organic Wildwood Concert Ce Natural
Product Details:
Breedlove wildwood concert all mah. ce what makes all mahogany guitars so special? that s simple. the sound. built with all-solid african mahogany from neck to top to back and sides the wildwood concert satin ce is all about tone, specifically the warm, dry, fundamental timbre of a classic mahogany instrument. that means the true note rings out, with fewer shadings and overtones, making for a clear, defined voice, one often favored by folk, country and blues players. a simple satin finish protects the wildwood concert satin ce, but is thin enough to let it sing. the breedlove concert body has stood as an industry standard for 30 years, and it loves a mahogany top as much as you will. be special, be simple, be wild.

Reviews:
Update from earlier review commenting on quality issues and especially poor strings. Must say with Elixir light strings the guitar sounds and plays very well. Really clear note definition on each string and beautiful trebles. So why initially ruin a good guitar with poor strings. Breedlove quality control actually got back to me and confirmed the strings originally on the guitar were Olympia from Korea. Specification is now D'addario XT as it says on their website and they offered to give me a replacement set. Also confirmed other specifications about the tone woods etc. So feel much better now the guitar has decent strings. Why Breedlove would use budget strings on an all solid wood guitar makes no sense to me.Graeme
Plays great, sounds great, well worth the buy in price. My only slight issue is the front isn't as glossy as the online picture makes it appear. That being said, I knew when ordering by mail I would not get the one pictured. So I was prepared for a slightly different appearance. But this is in no way a deal breaker. In a few minutes of playing I was hooked. This this is great!!!Jeff M
Received the Wildwood Organic Concert CE model a few days ago, and have been very pleased with the purchase. The guitar looks and feels like a high-end instrument. The Whiskey-burst finish on my model is gorgeous, accenting the woodgrain without overpowering it. The colors are very complementary to the mahogany wood underneath. The guitar has a lovely resonance, supporting a deep, rich, well-rounded low end, clear and prominent midrange, and a crisp, punchy top end without a trace of tinniness. Very well-balanced and articulate sound. Couldn't find any unevenness between strings or as I ascended up the neck. The action out of the box was perfect for my taste. Low action without buzzes anywhere I could find. Slim neck, but still feels substantial enough for me (I come from a classical guitar background, and generally prefer a bit of chunk). I would have liked to have had a 1 3/4 nut for fingerstyle, but 1.69" nut still provides comfortable separation between the strings. I am amazed that Breedlove was able to produce an instrument this nice for a truly affordable price. The quality of this instrument more than good enough for the intermediate to expert player, but accessible enough to recommend to a beginner as an quality instrument that they may take a while to outgrow, if ever. The electronic pickup is serviceable, but does not stand out. Otherwise, nothing but praise for this instrument. I will be looking at this brands offerings more closely from now on.Vognell

4. Breedlove Organic Artista Concert Ce Acoustic Electric Natural Shadow
Product Details:
The artista concert ce is a groundbreaking all-solid wood, versatile play-style, acoustic-electric guitar. why is this instrument a game changer for players and changing the conversation on acoustic guitars? simple. custom sound, sustainably harvested woods at an approachable price point. the solid myrtlewood, never sourced from clear cuts, is breedlove's favorite tonewood for backs and sides as it delivers surprising energy and extraordinary tonal balance in addition to its highly varied color patterns accentuated by the uv thin natural shadow burst finish. to further boost the high-energy sound, breedlove has chosen a hard rock maple neck, which is denser than mahogany, and an african ebony fretboard and bridge. the fsc certified european spruce top is torrefied, resulting in a more mature sound and tone and a top that's less susceptible to movement with humidification changes. the highly versatile concert body shape is suited for strumming and heavy play, but also shines as a fingerstyle guitar. responsive to a light touch and strumming, this versatile guitar has outstanding nuance and note-to-note clarity. the cutaway design gives access to all twenty frets. breedlove's natural sound electronics sound better, are more reliable and put controls right where you need them in the sound hole for quick on-the-strum access. you will sound better, play better, and play more on a breedlove artista series guitar.
Reviews:
It is very pretty and that's what got me. But, it plays very tight…have to fight it for good tone. Had I realized it was constructed in China, I would have never touched it. For me…I'll go back to my Seagull, Yamaha, or Fender acoustic (each of which I have or do own). I may buy this for about $300 as a learner guitar to give kids or one to take camping. Maybe after I change the strings a few times and beat it to death it'll start to break in.Ray K.
Torrified spruce top with myrtlewood back and sides. The finish is very thin with a beautiful yellow burst. The top resonates nicely. Would highly recommend, especially for the price I took one star away because the action was poor. Had a low E buzz. Had to have the saddle raised. Sounds great nowOrville
I took a chance when I bought this guitar. Not to worry. Breedloves are now my favs and prised position. Outstanding. Truly.Grandpa M

Reviews:
I just don't like this guitar. First off it was not a decent piece of Mahogany they picked out to use. it had four dark marks like the size of a nickel that really stood out to me. But when I played it I was disappointed in the sound, the guitar needed a setup and to be played awhile to open up, but still I just didn't want to risk not liking it after all that.Sam
The body has a very nice satin finish and fits well in your lap. Comfortable neck and felt very playable. Just didn't wow me though. Restrung with silk wrapped string but just didn't sound as complex as I'd hoped. The frets weren't as finished as my Taylor big baby and the nut stuck out beyond the neck and was sharp. The price point seems high for the finish you get. The sound probably would improve with time but just wasn't willing to risk it.Jeff
An excellent guitar. Great sound from what seems like a small instrument. It fits my needs for practice, acoustic jamming, and amped performance. Did I mention made in USA? The mahogany is a beautiful wood with a rich, full sound. Being simply made, with no bling, no purfling, etc., makes this a very understated yet elegant instrument.Old Cowboy

Reviews:
I was diagnosed with Parkinson's and in an attempt to fight off stiffening fingers I decided to look at a shorter fretboard. My finger reach was reduced and my new Breedlove provides the necessary requirements for me to continue to stay limber and allows me to reach all my frets with ease. The bonus is that the guitar is handsomely made, has a wonderful tone for a small guitar and keeps me reaching for it all the time. Price, craftsmanship and playability make this a winner! I highly recommend a look.beeheckel
I have been on a mission to find "the one" workhorse guitar. Knowing it may have to be two to get the sounds I wanted. I went into the store and played every guitar I could get my hands on. Taylors, Martins, Gibsons, Yamahas, Guilds, you name it I played it. Then I found the Breedlove Organic Concert and was completely BLOWN AWAY! very nice bottom end, sparkling highs and has a very nice flat frequency response across the spectrum. It blew away the Taylors, Martins, and Gibsons. Plenty of saddle height to play with to get the action you want, the most resonant of all the guitars I played, and it projects very well. Electronics are fantastic and the more you dig in, the more it gives you. The Martins and the Taylors sounded restricted and compressed compares to this. The only nit pick is if you are one of those people that have to have things immaculate, no glue smudges on the inside, etc then this is not the guitar for you as mine has ONE light smudge from extra glue, but who spends their time looking that close to the inside of the guitar. Other than that everything is perfect. Do yourself a favor and PLAY IT!Justin F
Ok so this is actually a really great sounding instrument. You get a nice blend of bass, mids and highs. I chose this over the original organic copper because the appointments were nicer all around, it is the exact same guitar as the original, just with a millionaires name on it. If you can look past that then you've found quality. Truss rod is fully functional, and after some tweaking there and at the nut I have like electric guitar action with no string buzz whatsoever. Give it a shot and, tonally, you will not regret it. The pickup is also very choice sounding though you'll still want to eq it or run it through a DI.CH

Reviews:
Very balanced, bass is crisp, rich and clear, mids and highs are a little subdued, warm, but very clear with pretty amazing definition/separation all along the fingerboard, including past the 12th fret. I was hoping for a bit more volume, but it's as loud as one can expect from the body size. Overall, it's a sweet-sounding guitar and I often find myself just letting chords ring all along the fingerboard because the string separation is so clear. I have a collection of carbon fiber guitars that I use for gigging and I love them and I was missing the warmth of a good wooden guitar. I was nervous about buying a guitar without playing it, but the combination of the price and the trial period convinced me to give it a shot. I have previous experience with Breedlove and this one didn't disappoint. A great buy on a really nice instrument.j10string
Killer guitar. An absolute hidden gem 💎! Fingerpicking is a dream, but that's not all this guitar excells at…strumming, flat picking, you name it! Super lucky to have come across this guitar. It blew other high end guitars out of the water, including d28/d18/om28/j45/and0018. USA made All solid wood Ethically sourced Don't hesitate pick one of these up while you can, once people pick up on these they'll be hard to find.R
This guitar is amazing. It has that big rich, round sound I love! It sounds like a cannon when strummed hard. Absolutely no buzzing when played hard. This guitar was meant to take a beating and sound good! It came with a very high action though. I had to lower the action some.Bruin1965

I purchased this guitar for a different sound. I have had a dozen guitars before and currently have a Cort Gold O6 and Fender Vintera Modified 50s Tele which I love for different reasons. After trying a Taylor Academy 12e-N, which had a great sound but I didn't life the feel of the shorter 12 fret neck, I picked up my first one of these. Build and sound was great, but I had a lifted fret (#12) which buzzed. I tried to press it back in myself, but no luck so I'm guessing something swelled in the neck after the frets were leveled, crowned, and polished. I sent it back for an exchange.Jay
Don't hesitate on adding this beauty to your collection. Absolutely stunning and flawless from top to bottom. She plays and sounds incredible. Made in USA. The unique qualities of Myrtle wood gives it a very distinctive, one of a kind look and well rounded voice. Each one is made just for you. I must also mention the highest quality case I've ever received. A perfect match. It's better than a Taylor at twice the price. Breedlove is amazing, this is my 1st one. Sound: In regards to “sound” “presence” this pretty girl has enough for the price; in fact, it rings most crisp at the high end with nice low end presence for it’s size. Plugged in, it is actually expectable for strumming and picking! It’s size is just awesome for living room small studio or patio sessions (actually, I have laid down some sweet tracks using this well rounded acoustic) The electronics are acceptable enough- though I am going to upgrade mine because I do use it constantly. The Soft case is very nice and durable. My ONLY knock, the string holes/bridge assembly, cedar non-pin; the eyes of the strings are beginning to stress the inlets “widening them” due to the steel recessing the wood; the eyelets literally seated against it. This is a miner issue and a commonly used one. It makes stringing the the Breedlove most easy and quick, no pins popping with sting winding- This is definitely a most awesome beginners acoustic-it is definitely far more guitar for the money; however. If it’s a impulse thing-all of a sudden wanting to learn and play guitar- or young beginners- wrong guitar! There are far better values in the 150.00 to 200.00 dollar range, decent and not as much of an investment if the “fire” “urge” burns out becoming closet/attic clutter or family room/bedroom decor! I made this mistake years ago before I got serious and completely committed to the passion playing easily two hours or more a day- if the passion sets in getting “GAS” (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), this IS a perfect acoustic to move up to. If you want larger gear, the Fender California Series is very tight, most sweet for $429.00, I have a Redondo that shreds! Entirely different guitar though and do not recommend for beginners because of its fret length, width and strength required to ring out the chords- especially bar chords. (Ibanez, Epiphone, Fender, Yammah, all make suitable beginners gear between $89..00 and $200.00 dollars…..) Papa Laughing-Bear, Hangtown Ca. 9. Breedlove Pursuit Exotic Concert Ce Sitka – Indian Rosewood Acoustic-Electric Guitar Gloss Natural
Product Details:
If 're looking for a guitar with deep, boomy low end and sparkling highs, both acoustically and plugged in, the pursuit concert ce sitka – indian rosewood acoustic-electric guitar fits the bill. like all other pursuit exotic series guitars, it's a true reflection of breedloves distinctively crafted sound found in a stunning appointment package at a price that won't kill budget. the pursuit concert ce sitka – indian rosewood acoustic-electric guitar also comes with a built-in l.r. baggs eas electronics for accurate plugged-in performance. – includes gig bag. – body wood – indian rosewood has been the standard rosewood choice for decades. it is often associated with the great dreadnoughts, and is an amazingly neutral wood that takes its personality from the player. well-balanced lows, mids, and highs make it a natural for many styles. well-balanced lows, mids, and highs. famous for rich basses and clear treble response. slightly less dense with more even grain than brazilian rosewood. black-streaked wood with coloration that usually leans toward purplish brown, and then oxidizes to a rich brown color. – top wood – sitka spruce is grown in the northwest, and has been the primary top wood for u.s.a. instruments for many decades. it is strong, light and gives an extended harmonic content and nearly equals the power of adirondack. strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental? perfect for flatpicking styles. usually takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. when compared with eurpean spruce, sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. not so cleanly defined as european spruce but, instead, a warmer, more fundamental, and largely free of overtones. its a good, solid sound and bluegrass flatpickers and folk-musicians tend to like it a lot. straight uniform grain. coloration ranges from white to pink to light brown. – body shape – the breedlove concert is the original breedlove shape. it first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling breedlove body shape ever since. designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well balanced, compact, and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. the unique construction also allows the concert to sing even at a full strum. ifre a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for . the concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. the graduated top works in harmony with the breedlove bridge truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection. – breedlove bridge truss – the breedlove bridge truss (bbt) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. the bbt also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. relieving much of the string tension from the bridge preventsbridge belly,? ensuring top stability for decades. guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. the bbt compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: the bbt is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. the resulting tonal effect on bbt-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones

This is definitely a great guitar for the price range. Guitar looks better than the photos which is definitely a plus. Nice rich warm sound as expected from having a mahogany top. Top, back, and sides have a gloss finish which I'm not too much of a fan of, but this guitar definitely pulls it off. The neck is VERY comfortable to play on, in which Breedlove makes the best feeling necks out of all the guitars I've ever played (I've owned 8 guitars ranging from martins, taylors, breedloves and more). Fishman electronics aren't too bad either. The only con I could say is that it does go slightly out of tune with each new day, but that's not really a problem for me as it only takes a few seconds to get it back in tune with the built in tuner. Comes with a Breedlove gig bag which is nice. Overall, a great product. I would definitely buy this guitar again!txion083
I had a Breedlove concert a few years back that I used to "trade up" to another semi-hollow electric guitar. A decision out of necessity that I regretted for a few years. I recently saw the opportunity to purchase a Pursuit series concert acoustic electric. I have had it for just a few weeks now and it is a great, warm sounding, easy playing instrument.Cedar Top, Mohagany back & Sides make for a balanced, not overly bright sound projection. I have one other Acoustic that is also mohagany and find that this tonewood makes for singing mids and sweet highs. Nothing brittle or jangly. It's a great value in this price range and it will provide me with years of sweet tunes.Bj Surfdog
Guitar comes with a Breedlove gigbag! Just in case you read the reviews and description and buy one just for this guitar lol. It is a nice fitted bag, kinda thin but nice overall. Guitar is beautiful, gloss finish for the body and the neck is a flatter laquer type finish. Very bright sounding and amazing construction for the price. I just got it today so I'll review further in a month or two. Low easy action, cutaway is very convenient and so far no fret buzz. I recommend a light or super light sting though as MY fingers need to get stonger but for experienced player I don't see any issues. I use elixer light sets on it and the sound is just amazing. If you were looking at a baby Taylor I say go with this. I have both and I'll take this any day over the baby Taylor. Fishman pickup with tuner is also very convenient. So far so good. I'll post back with any flaws or good pros in the future. Keep rockin guys. And bloody good job Breedlove!Red

I knew I would like this guitar. I've had a Breedlove in the past that was a total work horse. I used and abused it at many gigs. Retired it and gave it to my little brother. Been playing my Gibson hummingbird for the past few years and forgot the magic that is Breedlove. Never played this model before, I bought it completely blindly and OH MY GOD! Though it's not quite as punchy as my hummingbird it feels like it was literally built for me personally. The neck is perfection. The balance in the tone is unmatched. The best way I can describe this guitar in the simplest of terms is… SILKY SMOOTH. I've been playing for 20 years, mostly an acoustic guy. I have a bunch of gibsons, couple Martin's, couple guilds, an ovation, and this is already my all time favorite acoustic guitar. From the first strum it just felt right haha. Never had that ahhh haa moment with any guitar before today. I'm so stoked.Ben

Its a good brand and it plays awesomeMj
I bought this for my 10 year old daughter as her second acoustic guitar. She is a beginner and previously had a 3/4 size Montana acoustic. This guitar makes the old one sound like complete junk and fits her well considering it is a full size, fits me well too. Both the fit and finish and playability right out of the box were better than I expected and are consistent with other reviews I have read. Sounds good plugged in and unplugged. I would be very likely to buy another higher $$$ Breedlove in the future. Gig bag isn't great but still feel like we got our money's worth.Big G
Very light weight and easy to play. Classy looking gloss finish on body/matte, almost natural finish on back of neck. Fishman pickup sounds awesome (sounds great into my Katana 100). Stays in tune amazingly well even with some bending. Great choice of you an electric player wanting to explore acoustic playing styles with a slimmer neck.Tim H.

This guitar really is something special. The tone, clarity and volume are all extremely impressive and unmatched in other guitars with small bodies. I do not have a large collection of guitars, but now I don't even need one.

I looked and reviewed all the top model guitars before I made my investment. Although some other makes were close but not close enough to steer me away from my Breedlove ConcertAB
Love this guitar. Plays great, sounds great plugged and unplugged.donnydoyle777pittsburgh
I've always been a Martin/Taylor kind of player, but since I picked this up I sold my Martins and Taylors and bought 3 of these. Ebony, 12 string and the mahogany/Sitka. I plan on getting the all mahogany, the nylon string and the dreadnaught just to round out the collection. Awesome guitars. Built in China, sure so are the Fender Modern Players and they are equally as nice. Get one or even a couple. You will be very pleased. All 4 JC

Reviews:

Reviews:
First thing that I noticed when unpacking was how much better this looked than the pictures. The gloss finish with the wood stain just looks incredible with the highly colored abalone around the sound hole. The binding isn't just black like my previous Breedlove, but I don't know how to describe it, looks amazing though. Second thing I did was change strings to my preferred D'Addario Gypsy Jazz. There was some fret buzz so I raised the action. It came with a battery, but it was dead, so replaced that. Once set up I plugged it into my amp and the guitar plays great and sounds amazing, so impressed with it overall. Only minor complaint is that the tuners stick a bit, I guess they had to save money somewhere.Neal
When i received this guitar i was blown away by how perfect it was, not a flaw to be found anywhere. It was Almost perfectly in tune !!! tuned it up and it took me back to my younger days. excellent tone, great projection and stellar looks. if i had too gripe it, it is somewhat thin on the bottom end, but not a deal breaker at all.while somewhat subtle the top has a lot of figuring in it and moves a lot as you look over it, the back is fully quilted and the sides are flamed nicely. as a side note it doesn't come with a hard case….but i did find that this case(Epiphone EL-0CS) fits it PERFECTLY !!
My bass collection lacked both a fretless and an acoustic, so hoping to kill two birds with one stone, I ordered this on a lark. I also have been intrigued by Breedlove for a while as a company. Couldn't be more pleased with this bass. Great action. Fretboard is super comfortable. Tone is full and warm. I find myself playing this acoustically nearly every day now in the three months since I've had it. The preamp is not perfect and feedback is a bit of a (not insurmountable)danger when it's plugged in. I have not gigged with it but I recommend highly for practice, recording, small groups, writing. In short, a beautiful, fun bass at a fair price.
