This is an excellent slide, but the seem from the making of the bottles scratches some, hence the 9 stars in quality. But hey, these aren't made from scratch, they're just made into slides. I bought this slide NOT expecting the sound quality it gives. This slide is large diameter thin walled chrome plated brass. It is so light that it is easy to use and gives very good sound quality, which I didn't expect from it. This is my second most favorite side I use only because of the length. I play an electric guitar that is tuned as a Resonator guitar tuning and I like to use a long length slide that will cover all six strings at once (with a little extra). This is a great slide for some, but I was looking for something with thicker walls. It feels too light and thin to me. The sound is there but with sweat build up for a coricidin style bottle, the lightweight of the slide will make it slide off. I have owned hundreds of slides over the years and all are different. I was purchasing this in hopes of a thick inner wall to add a bit more weight that this one has. I will use this a backup and continue my search for glass slides with no seams.JC
I bought this slide to experiment with size and material. I got a small, and it's still quite a bit too big for my finger. It's long and robust, yet it's super light compared to other glass slides that I own. Sure, it's usable, but I much prefer my other slides. Creates a good sound, but I have to press down much harder than what is comfortable for me – though of course surely part of that is because I'm use to my other slides. I have a Gibson SG with the strings Derik uses. The sound is really close. This is odd but it had a tiny piece of glass that just barely sticks up right over the logo. I'm not really a pinky slide person, but I have a bunch of different slides and had to add this one the arsenal. It fits pretty tight (doesn't drop over my middle knuckle) and is about the same quality as the dunlops; maybe a little less heavy in the plating. It's great for live use because it's versatile and stays on well, doesn't break, and can still get a pretty good tone on a low-actioned guitar. It's not going to make you sound Elmore James, but you can really get the Johnny Winter/Duane Allman things going while still being able to use the other fingers. I would recommend this for someone who plays slide in standard tuning live or doesn't have a guitar dedicated to slide in their rig that maybe needs this for one/two songs. Also works well on acoustic with low action and light strings.cjonesplay
Awhile back I picked up a Jeff Beck Strat and decided to stay with the lighter strings (.009 instead of .10 or .11 that I use on my older blocked/hardtail Strat). I needed a lighter slide but all the other "pinky slides" I tried, glass or metal, were too light.
