There are hundreds of reviews on this guitar, of course some good and some bad. The good reviews (4-5 stars) far out number the rest. Although I’ve read some really, really bad ones. I suppose every guitar maker churns out a turd on occasion when mass producing affordable beginner (read inexpensive) guitars.

It is fantastic, it’s beautiful, sounds amazing (plugged in and acoustic), plays amazingly well, stays in tune, the tuners are smooth and work as you would expect on a much more expensive guitar. The neck is perfect, the action is great (Martin MA540 Authentic Acoustic Light strings 0.054-0.012). I haven’t a single complaint I can’t say whether the quality has gone up or down in the last few years. Mine is an earlier production model about 10 years old. They’re relatively common , You can find a nice used one locally in most cities for under $150. That way you can play and give it a thorough inspection before you buy it. I usually don't leave negative reviews. This guitar is beautiful, it sounds amazing. However, I just can't believe that guitar center would let this be shipped. The neck seems fine but every fret divider is razor sharp. It's so uncomfortable that I have quit playing it. Living in a small town it's very expensive to return stuff, so I guess it will just sit for now. To guitar centers credit, I have shopped there for many years and never been disappointed. But gee guys, why wouldn't you be checking this stuff? If I picked it off your wall I would never buy it unless you fixed it for me. Sorry but this sucksJohn
Tried out two of these at the local store looking for a first guitar for my son. Both sounded pretty good for the price point, but both had problems with the neck and really terrible frets. Terrible like not safe for children or unsuspecting adults – they both had sharp edges sticking out the whole length of the neck. Between that, some minor string buzz, a crazy high 9th fret on one, and iffy intonation on the other, it just didn't seem worth getting either of them. What's the point of getting a low priced guitar if you have to spend $100+ getting it worked over to make it playable? I suspect that the neck binding makes it difficult for the factory to really get the frets properly dressed and still pass cosmetic inspection. It may be I just had the bad luck to find the two worst examples of this model in the same store, but I suggest you move up notch in price range and you will be happier with what you get.triple.ratrider

This is a great acoustic-electric bass. I originally purchased it to use as an alternative to plugging in my electric bass. I instantly fell in love with it. It stays in tune. The nut is of appropriate measurements and the frets are greatly positioned. I changed the factory installed strings with some acoustic bass strings and it sounded so nice! A lot of value, especially at the discounted sale price. Handsome design. But… Where is the quality control? Sharp fret ends, action set waayyy to low. major fret buzzing. several of the tuners were sticking. Rough edges on wooden bridge, strings are "rough" and lifeless. Pre-amp works well, but the tuner is inconsistent. Fretboard wood was really dry… did they store it dry storage? If you are willing to invest some time and effort like I did, filing the fret ends, raising the bridge, conditioning the wood, etc. it can serve as a first beginner guitar or a beater that I wanted. I'm no expert, but one can't expect a novice to take care of these issues. Getting a luthier to fix things properly, and you've doubled the price of the guitar. I've been spoiled. My other 4 guitars are medium to entry-level Yamahas, and none had these type of issues. BTW. the finish is not black, it is a charcoal grey and is distinctive. The neck is easy to play, but the sound and resonance is typical for a thin-bodied guitar. But, with a built-in tuner pre-amp, it's a decent value.Lawrence
Sounds good so far. First impressions: the "metallic black" is more metallic than black. It's really more of a shimmery dark grey than black; the pick guard which IS basically black contrasts more than product images suggest. The electronics didn't work well at all. I was able to sporadically interface with my Tonewood Amp, but it was hit-or-miss. I know it wasn't my TWA or cable that was the problem. I liked the sound of this guitar, and it was comfortable for my frame. The action was perfect for me out of the box…about as low as you can get without fret buzzing. However, all of the fret ends we're sticking out and would have needed filing. The fretboard and bridge wood seemed soft and rough. I suspect neither would wear well. There was a spot near the sound hole where it looked like glue had been smeared when the pick guard was placed on. That would not rub off. Gooey streaks elsewhere did clean off. There were some ripples in the finish around the sound hole. The color was more grey/gunmetal than black, and spray marks were visible in the paint. I got this guitar on sale at 40% off: $127.19, delivered. For that price I probably would have kept it had the electronics worked properly. I returned it.Regina

. Now let me set the scene… I am a guitar lover (I can even play a little too) and a quality professional so My expectations are somewhat higher than most looking at this product. An absolutely beautiful instrument, this is my second SA360 and although they are no longer. Made in Japan, be assured they have not lost any of the build quality or attention to detail. The guitar was really well set up, is great to play, feels good in the hand and sounds the bee’s knee’s. If you are looking to start out in guitar playing get yourself an Ibanez Gio to start as a first upgrade from that, then the SA series is where you want to be at.Timbo
Overall: For 100 bucks less than a Japanese made RG550 I'll say the quality of this Indonesian assembled guitar is sub-par albeit correctable. All hardware was loose. Blase switch wast rubbing against finish. Tone and volume pots were pushed down into contact with body. Gold playing on bridge pick-up shows nickel plating already. Action was set so low that it was unplayable. Some frets are razor sharp at the edge of the fretboard. Neck and fretboard are dry as a bone, and need to be sanded and sealed. The grain was raised when I unboxed. Which basically tells me that there was very little if any polyurethane applied to the neck or fretboard. As with all Indonesian guitars ai take this as an opportunity to fix these little things on my own, but you are better off getting an RG550 Genesis. The quality is far superior. Also the paint is awful, and the plating on all gold plated surfaces are sure to deteriorate quickly. One note: Sounds has nothing to do with these inadequacies or defects. Ibanez should just seize operations in Indonesia, as should all other guitar manufactures. Indonesian guitars are ok enough to correct, but even at the 800 dollar mark you should get a 100% gigable axe. This is not at that level.
I've owned this guitar for a year. I own more than a few Ibanez, with about half of them being Prestige and the others being 80's/90's Fujigen Ibby's, 2010's Iron Labels and Premium. I love this RGA and it's remarkably well spec'ed for most anything a diverse player will want. What it isn't: it isn't a prestige and it doesn't feel like it. That's not a bad thing; the roasted maple neck is amazing, feels comfortable, but the fingerboard does feel a little different (given the wood type). The only real negative I find is that the finish (the actual finish) feels like it's very delicate. I can see this finish cracking easily with an everyday bump. I hang my guitars and pull them just to record, so not a n issue for me, but it definitely feels very delicate. The only other reasonable complaint is that for the pricepoint, it should include at least a gig bag. This is basically a 1,000 dollar guitar.

Overall: I purchased this guitar in February and it arrived unplayable. I was unable to review for this reason. Due to living in a remote location and being disabled it was to dificult to exchange, however, zZounds was very prompt at trying to help me return it. Unfortunately my caregiver had to throw away all the packaging. So my fault I couldn't return. I have purchased many ibanez guitars and this was the first time I had a problem. However, it's pretty obvious ibanez knew about this when sending the guitar to zZounds. So a little disappointed. So I'm unable to try this guitar, however, zZounds was very prompt and the customer service was great. I just can't return it and that's my fault. The K2T body is 1.5 inches narrower than a standard acoustic, so it is more comfortable and easier to play. Guitar sound is very clean and clear, better than expected. There were no setup problems, just tuned it and ready to play. Piezo pickup and 3-way EQ are a bit limited, but it definitely sounds good amplified. It's a great size for seated playing , and has replaced my full sized Yamaha for back porch strumming. It plays just as well, sounds as good , but with a little lower volume ( expected with the shallow body ). I bought one of these guitars a few years ago from another dealer and after some work on the fret board and neck it played very well. The one I just purchased from Walmart had finish flaws I did not expect. An open hole in the head near the G string tuner, a black streak under the finish on the back. The gold finish on the tuning gears are tarnished and faded. The B string tuning gear has slip in it. The frets below the 12th fret are setting high. The edge of the fret board and binding are unfinished, frets are sharp and could cause a cut. I am a little disappointed.Guitarpro1

I own a vintage guitar shop and try to keep inexpensive guitars around to give to deserving young students. I bought two of these based upon good reviews. I was first amazed at the quality of the guitar…no sharp fret ends, no high frets, no blemishes in the finish, intonation right on. The set-up was quite good out of the box. I did file the nut some, but I always do even on high end guitars. The guitar sounds decent acoustically, but plugged in is where it shines. It stands up to guitars priced over a grand when plugged in. I gave one of these to a Grammy winning guitar player who is also amazed at its quality and sound. I have been playing about 2 years. I have an acoustic guitar and wanted to try an acoustic-electric without breaking the bank. I bought the RA-090 concert size because a dreadnought size guitar is too large for me. The built-in tuner, volume and tone controls are handy. The action is a little high but it plays fine. The top and body are all laminated and of course sounds different than my solid spruce top acoustic.I had realistic expectations of an instrument in this price range, and overall, I am satisfied with the guitar.John
I couldn't resist buying this guitar, in spite of the fact that I own several acoustics of better quality. I have been wanting to try an acoustic/electric for a long time, one with barn-door electronics, and this one was on sale so I thought I'd roll the dice. And that's exactly what you do when you buy a Rogue. For the money involved, don't expect consistent quality. Mine came with no glaring issues, with fret ends fairly smooth (I did give them a quick touch-up) and a reasonable finish, although the back of the guitar did have some spots that could have used more polishing, but black is a hard finish to make look perfect. The neck is rather beefy, and some may find it too big, but it fits my hand better than a skimpy neck. The sound unplugged is OK but not rich in tone, and the electronics work fine when plugged in, albeit a little harsh sounding. I'll have to work on that with some creative EQ. Taking a peek inside with a light and an inspection mirror, everything looked clean except for some shoddy drill work through the bridge plate. The truss rod turns easily, and came properly adjusted. The cheap tuners all work as intended with no slippage. For the bad, plan to throw away the strings immediately. And the intonation was considerably off, due to the saddle tilting in its slot from string pressure and a sloppy fit in the bridge slot. This was corrected temporarily with a cardboard shim in front of the saddle. Next I will have to address the nut slots (not deep enough) and the saddle being too high. All considered, this is a good buy if you want an inexpensive acoustic/electric.Jimmy J

Look, just wanted to reply to some reviews that say this guitar sounds well…..thin. Duh, yes its not a jumbo acoustic or even a regular body acoustic. Its a thinline acoustic so it sounds just like what it is. Ive played several thinline guitars and they all sound…well…thin. That doesnt mean its cheaply made or a bad sounding guitar. It has its own sound. If you want a deep bass, then buy a jumbo or regular acoustic. I like the easy neck movement. The chords sound fine and this guitar doesnt require anymore tuning than any other in this price range. I tried ten guitars at guitar center including more expensive brands like fender, mitchell, yamaha and others and this was the only one under 400 dollars that stayed in tune from an E chord to a C chord. I bought it because Ive owned Ibanez before and never regretted it. To each his own but keep in mind a thinline guitar is not going to have a deep rich sound, but, I record my bass along with it so it sounds fine. After seeing some videos about this guitar and reading many reviews, I realised that it was a very good quality for the price!! This guitar is absolutely amazing, smooth, beautiful and the sound is truly beautiful, even better than I expected! I'm very satisfied! I had been playing a very old and very nice acoustic at church for night service, and didn't want to subject it to the rigors of live playing on a regular basis. After some research, it came down to purchasing a Talman or a Stratacoustic. I went with the Talman due to the price, and Ibanez's reputation. When the guitar arrived, I was a little apprehensive as the neck felt awesome, but the setup was awful. The strings were heavy gauge, and were set way too high. After some work shaving down the bridge, changing to light strings, and adjusting the truss rod, this baby plays great! I love that the electronics are really easy to use, and it was made to plug in. The sound when you are practicing unplugged isn't as full or rich as you get with a full sized acoustic, but this guitar wasn't made for that – it was made to be plugged in. I was able to eliminate having to use pedals to get the proper volume and EQ, which makes the live rig way easier to set up and tear down. I play it through a Line 6 spider II 75 watt head running through a Marshall 4×12 cabinet. The spider's clean channel is great for acoustic as it does not color the tone, and the Marshall is plenty loud for a church sanctuary. Overall, I am quite happy with the Talman, even though I had to put in some extra work to get it the way I like my guitars. For the price this guitar is pretty great. I was shocked at how easy to play it was right from the box. The action was low enough that I expected it to buzz and it didn't. Needed only slight truss adjustment after it settled. Neck feels more like an electric than most acoustics, but has frets smaller than I would have liked (definitely not medium jumbo as on a standard strat). Sounds richer than I expected for price. Missing some low end. You don't feel this in your body like some other (nicer) dreadnoughts. The highs and mids sound nice though – doesn't sound cheap or anemic. I bought this on sale to keep at the office, but it hasn't left the house yet because I'm having too much fun playing it. Other reviews have stated that this becomes a "go to" guitar because of its feel and that's been my experience too. This would be perfect for a beginner because of the price and ease of play. Only defect is that the pickguard is lifting off of the body. Seems like it wasn't pressed on all the way. After pressing it solidly to the body it seems to be staying put. Got this on sale and for that price, it is a great guitar. Well made. The saddle was quite high, so that needed a little sanding, and the nut needed a couple of slots cut a little deeper, but still, that's not uncommon certainly at this price point. Otherwise it sets up well. Nice rosewood fretboard. The neck is fairly hefty, so while it may look strat-like, it is beefier than an electric. Sound is solid, even and not too bright. It should improve with age due to the solid top. For $ I might shop other brands, or even something better used, but at the blowout price the guitar can't be beat.STEPHEN

As always Sweetwater comes thru! I received it Fedex yesterday evening. Tuned it up ,played about 30 minutes, got a tweed case out and packed it up and went and played a gig from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. good transition for electric guitar players. the entire neck on mine is accessible , I will change the strings to my brand of strings and order a supply of CR2032 batteries for the tuner. It does not use a 9volt battery. The reduced body size is the same size as my Fender T Bucket and my Fender California Senoran , not a thin body guitar at all. But a comfortable size to play. Played 3 hours no fatigue . I used a Roland Chorus and a BOSS Katana-100 amps. On the clean and acoustic channels with no feedback.I had a guy want to buy mine but I told him how to order one from Sweetwater. Order this guitar! AS ALWAYS , GOOD SINGING GOOD PLAYING!
This guitar is actually solid. After getting it setup with a bone saddle and bone nut, it sings. The frets were perfect polished and the intonation was spot on. The neck did require less relief, but who cares. That's a simple job. Amazing playability, and once you swap that plastic crap out for bone, I don't know you'd be able to find an acoustic this cheap that plays like this one does.Don

Outstanding value in this Ibanez guitar. First off, it's beautiful to look at it. Blue or the black, you can't go wrong. They are both attractive (I bought the black one). Neck is smooth as butter. Sounds great plugged into my little Blackstar amp and just as good unplugged. The gear seems like something you'd find on a higher priced guitar. The tuners and EQ are top notch. Sound: I changed the settings as I always do when purchasing a guitar, and if course had to retune until the string memory was suffice. I haven't had to retune it since (after 3 weeks … Of course some minor tuning was needed). The eq helped get more low end that I desired. Features: I like the truss rod feature, I changed the tuners to some more appealing Gibson deluxe tuners. The frets needed a little filing but minor tweaks and adjustments are almost always necessary to obtain desired playability. Most (inexperienced) People want straight out of the box perfection, I suggest bringing any new guitar to someone that knows what they're doing and tell them what you want. My brother worked for Gibson custom shop as a guitar tech and let me know that most companies rely on quantity and not so much perfecting every guitar as everyone's idea of perfect is different. I have a number of acoustic type guitars – both steel and nylon strung. When playing these I rarely strum – it's a finger style combination of rock, flamenco, folk, blues and jazz ( a real mixture). The first thing I did was to change the strings (D'Addario Silk & Steel). As a result this little Fender beauty has turned into an excellent parlour guitar: it's responsive, lovely to play and remarkably loud for its size. Build quality is good and the sound projects well. If you're a chord strummer, I wouldn't suggest that the Sonoran is for you – but it responds superbly to finger style playing. It's subtle and responsive. For the money, it's very, very good. Pretty nice sounding instrument! Way less money than most solid wood, small bodied shorter scale guitars, & stacks up decently against “higher end” offerings. As a traditionalist, the onboard electronics were an annoying detraction, but in practice the pickup system sounds far more natural than I was expecting. And as a couch/practice guitar, having a tuner on the instrument is handy, I’ll grudgingly admit. If I were the type to plug in an acoustic on stage, I’d get good use out of these features. There are a few other general things that caught my attention, listed in no particular order. The dynamic range is an interesting departure from typical full scale acoustics. It’s quieter when finger picked softly, but as loud or louder when dug into with a pick. Definitely doesn’t sound small when played with authority, & generally has great resonance. I’ve yet to try lighter strings, but with 12 gauge phosphor bronze, it doesn’t feel too slinky or incredibly different than a longer scale length acoustic. I do find it a tad more comfortable, but not a night & day difference. The only lesser aspect is mostly down to the stock setup. Action was a little on the high side, & the G# fret under the low E string was a little high, so G chords buzzed on that string. This doesn’t detract from my over all impression, as I’m imagining most folks buying a decent instrument will end up setting it up & leveling fretwork to taste. All in all, mine’s a very nice acoustic guitar by any measure, & its sound punches way above its weight class in terms of cost. I dig it.WJJ
This Fender guitar is awesome. Out of the box it is almost perfectly set up. The intonation is off just by a little bit and only with 2 or 3 strings. The sound seems a little washed while playing chords, but single notes are loud and clear. All the frets have edge treatment, nice and smooth. The synthetic bone used for the nut and bridge are way better than plastic, allowing for a long sustain. The guitar could use better tuning keys, but the guitar stays in tune good enough. Over all my guitar was built well, and I'm glad it sounds good, too. I would recommend this guitar for all beginner guitar players because of the sound quality, and anyone else who don't have the money for their dream guitar.Tim

Great intermediate acoustic. Thinner, lightweight body that makes it very comfortable. Neck design more like an electric with rolled fingerboard edges and smooth frets. Cutaway enables a surprising amount of high end fret access. Piezo amplifier is really deep and rich sounding. Colours and design features convey nice 1950s vibe: well made and very good finish. Action a little high, but badly so, just that it could be lower – but a set up would rectify this. Overall a fear guitar at a superb price and inspiring to look at and play.Chazz
This Fender guitar is awesome. Out of the box it is almost perfectly set up. The intonation is off just by a little bit and only with 2 or 3 strings. The sound seems a little washed while playing chords, but single notes are loud and clear. All the frets have edge treatment, nice and smooth. The synthetic bone used for the nut and bridge are way better than plastic, allowing for a long sustain. The guitar could use better tuning keys, but the guitar stays in tune good enough. Over all my guitar was built well, and I'm glad it sounds good, too. I would recommend this guitar for all beginner guitar players because of the sound quality, and anyone else who don't have the money for their dream guitar.Tim
The pick guard is just a cheap adhesive sticker thingy and it was already damaged and peeling off when I opened the box. Not a great first impression. But I chose to take it off completely and thankfully, the glossy finish that's all over the body of this guitar is also underneath the pick guard, so it doesn't look too bad at all and I can always replace it if I want to. The "champagne" color looks champagne in the right light, but appears khaki or even greenish the rest of the time. I do love the shape though. It's smaller, lighter, and sleeker than most guitars I've handled, awesome for a more petite person like me. I'm 5 feet tall and 90lbs, so a lot of guitars have been too bulky and awkward for me. In that respect, the Newporter has made me a better player since you naturally do better when you're more comfortable. I also love the neck/head with the electric style shape and inline strings. I like the strings it came with a lot. It didn't come properly tuned, but that was a quick fix, especially since the tuner works so nicely. The sound is surprisingly rich. Great volume, especially with a pick. Overall, it's a really nice option at a really nice price, I just wish the quality control was better. Getting a new instrument with peeling parts is really disappointing, feels like I got it used or something 🙁 but if you're lucky and get a unit that is perfectly intact, you'll love this rich, beautiful, comfortable guitar. But if you can afford to spend about double, then I would suggest you do that so you won't be gambling with the quality as much.Trudy G

I originally thought that as a multitalented Musician and singer songwriter and R&B JAZZ music Recording Artist. That the only acoustic electric guitar that would work for me was the RICK TURNER peanut styled Guitar. But needless to say…I am very surprised at the well constructed Ibanez acoustic electric guitar. It really does the trick. Yes it needed a truss rod adjustment when I first took it out of the box and observed the neck and checked the frets and string height. But other than that ? After a few minor tweeks.. it plays very well. I would like to thank the people at sweetwater for helping me with the order. And because it does have a limited lifetime warranty ? You cannot beat it for the cost. Now maybe I can get Ibanez or sweetwater to hook me up with a very cool deal I need a hard shell case for it. Hummm ? $ is out of my range at the moment. Not sure ..lol but I love this guitar.. looking forward to using it on my up and coming 2023 album release. Yeah it's all good babie….
Overall: A bit skeptical of it playing/sounding good, especially in this price range. My hopes were not high, but just to be ok as a couch guitar. Surprisingly this little baby sings! Exceeded my expectations by far! It has some minor imperfections, but it just sounds and plays amazing for this price! No set up required. Just tuned her up and started playing. For the price, you should not complain!

This guitar is really quite awesome! I purchased it at sale price in January which made it a bit more affordable. Construction is top notch and love the satin finish! The action was a bit too high but thanks to the adjustable neck angle it came down to my liking!! Then there is the sound! It does an amazing job duplicating the broad array of acoustic instruments, then 2 electric sounds as well! The only con is that it is quite expensive and maybe not for everyone! The New Mexican player series just recently released is certainly more affordable although not as many sounds because of only a 3 way switch rather than 5 on the American built models! All in all I'm really very pleased with this purchase and the assistance I received from Sam Ash associates at the store! This is my 4th purchase from them! Five star service, much more friendly than some rival stores I have done business with! I highly recommend this product and Sam Ash! Will continue to do business with them!!Guru
I purchased my Fender American Acoustasonic Telecaster in Black in June 2019. I absolutely love that the guitar is lightweight and easy to play. The 5-way blade switch and Mode & Volume knobs are well placed and easy to work. At live gigs, the guitar sounds great through an acoustic amp or through a mixer. I would have preferred to have a glossy black finish over the entire body instead of the matte finish on the top cap and natural finish on the sides and back. My issues with the guitar start with having to replace the on-board battery after only 8 months. Fortunately the battery replacement was fully covered by the warranty. Also, the fret edges are not at all smooth; and the 1st string, or high E, easily pops out of the nut with any vigorous picking or strumming. Even with those issues, Love this guitar and I would recommend it highly! I have received many compliments from fellow musicians and audience members on the looks and sound of the guitar.Tom
Pluses: its lightweight and seems well made. Cons: Didnt like the neck shape but thats just me. Acoustic sounds are decent but of course not as good as even my $300 Epiphone. The electric sounds are cheesy; might work running both acoustic and electric guitar amps…. Seems for someone who already owns everything. Better yet, get a mag soundhole pickup with dual cable. Or just run your acoustic into a small multifx pedal (eg.Zoom) for when you want to get "electric-y" (patch= pre eq–>overdrive—>compression–>post eq). Done.Go_Pats

Picked mine up about 3 months ago at this point. Originally i was looking for a small body guitar to kart around and replace my 13 year old 3/4 art luthrie. After spending some time to learn and feel it out i think ive got a good hold on what its about. The neck has a great profile that seems to fit in the hand wonderfully. The tuner is nice for on the fly adjustments as well. I cannot forget the price point and beautiful style this guitar has to offer that made me originally purchase it, but there is some left to be desired. It just seems to sound a little flat and plucky, given thats most likely the nature of a smaller body guitar. overall i cannot complain because i do still truly think its a great value.AJ
I have several guitars, but when I saw a you tube video of this guitar, I was really intrigued. I generally like to try out a guitar in person, but this time I took a chance and ordered it from the guitar center website. Right out of the box, this little guitar sounded great!
