Absolutely incredible sounds from this pedal, build quality is brilliant and the different reverb types are endless, only fault that I can say about it was the lack of instructions in the instruction booklet that comes with it ! Pretty much useless as far as how to navigate the preset menu? Fortunately I did find some guidance on YouTube on how to find said presets! But after i found out it’s been an absolute joy to use, I was thinking if it was worth the quite high price tag ? But fear not, it’s worth every penny I can assure you, takes your music production to another level! Stunning 😍colin h.

I was using a tube screamer to boost the mid range frequency and get a djent sound with the standard distortion from my head. This pedal is a much better way to get the sound. Pretty cheap price. Well built. Small but packs a HUGE punch. Paired with a good noise gate and boom your there.christopherasmusse_0

How odd. This review was flagged for writing Big Mu** using the two F's 🙂 For the money, this is a really hard pedal to beat. It goes from mild and laid-back to wild and intense. The controls feel great…like as in excellent quality. This is a reissue of the original Big Mu** PI. I tried a Big Mu** PI with Wicker and forget about it. It hissed so loud in Wicker mode that I couldn't even here myself think and it got even worse with the tone switch off. And even in the so-called Big Mu** PI mode, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as this Rams Head does. And, the Rams Head is quiet compared to the BM PI with Wicker. One more thing, The BM PI with Wicker does not say anywhere on it nor in the included paperwork where it's made, whereas the RH BM PI clearly says New York City on the face of it…Vincent

Overall: Floats like a stone and stings like a nest of angry hornets! This box has the buzzsaw sound down pat. The fuzz is a thick, smooth, and consistent. I like this kind of fuzz in particular because it’s less fuzzy and little more distortion-like. The Tone knob has a really wide sweep from boomy bass to mid-range Hades. It has plenty of gain on tap and even sounds pretty good with the guitar’s volume rolled back a skosh.I’ve never used the original Green Russian Muff and have only heard them compared through videos online, so I can’t speak as to how they’re different/alike. I got it because I didn’t want to haul my vintage Black Russian Muff around from gig to gig anymore because it’s getting valuable and since it was a pretty jenky design to begin with, it’s liable to break with heavy use. That being said, the reissue Green Russian Muff has a different sound than an original V8 Black Russian Muff. It doesn’t sound as good to me, but it’s not so different that I wouldn’t use the Green Russian live in lieu of the Black Russian for the aforementioned reasons. One huge plus for the Green Russian is its pedalboard friendly size. The Black Russian is the size of an 80s metal lunchbox and took up an awkward sized chunk of the pedalboard. Now there’s more room for other unnecessary boxes (gulp)! One noteworthy ding for this pedal is how difficult it is to see the script on the top of the pedal. The words are printed right underneath the knobs, so if it’s kinda dark (which it usually is) and the lights are all in front of you (which they usually are) the words are impossible to see. Overall it’s a nice fuzz especially for the price. It’s noisy, but once the music gets rolling you won’t even notice it.Brad

Sturdy unit full of good quality effects. This is the first "cheap" unit that has impressed me with its pre amps. It even manages a passable vox sound that others at this price point fail to achieve. My favourite things about this unit are as follows : 1. The amount of usable presets out the box. Even the more whacky ones can generally be quickly tweaked into something usable. Other brands tend to fill their presets with ridiculous over the top high gain, and what I would call low budget sci-fi sound effects. Boss have done a good job with the GT1. 2. Ease of editing. While you can access the effects chain easily through the menu system, the buttons along the top physically represent a typical effects chain. Press and hold for a second on any one and you are straight into the effect behind it for easy editing or changing to a different effect. Negatives: lack of an on/off switch. It switches on by plugging in an instrument cable – minor annoyance but that's just me. Only other thing is no battery indicator, and I seriously doubt the 7hr battery life claim. The supplied ones died after about 2-3 hrs and the duracells I replaced them with haven't fared much better. I do have a power supply but wanted to see how the battery's would hold up if I had to do a gig on them. Probably wouldn't trust them and would carry two sets as backup rather than one.David B.

This is overall a great pedal. This will give you a wide variety of tones and effects that you can personalize for whatever music you play. Other pedals will offer maybe one tone and you may have to try different ones and might not be happy with them or have to buy multiple ones and spend lots of money to have a well set up pedal board. You can literally spend all day picking out distortion pedals and feel lost on where to go. With this you can go through a wide variety and set it up however you want and save the settings. This isn't some plug and play kinda pedal. You will need to spend time with it and get to know it. It is kinda confusing and there are YouTube videos that help as well. I got more e set up with a clean tone and then a click over to distortion and and anther click on and of for a wha effectErik

I gave up on trying to assign functions to the FS-6 I bought with it. There are no real explications how to use the 6 assignment functions. I think the headphone output is mono as I can only hear in one ear. You can get some decent patches off of tone exchange I'll probably sell it .Kenneth

My taste in spring reverb has been tainted by my first amp being an original Fender '68 Princeton Reverb drip edge. I have other great amps without spring reverb i.e. Supro Black Magick & BK8, Vox NT15, Ibanez TS15 & 5. I have gone through several traditional type reverb pedals for these amps and everything sounded to sterile to me. Had the 1st HOF twice and sold it twice. If you are looking for a simulated, touch sensitive, authentic sounding spring reverb this is the one I found to work the bes with all my amps. Don't get me wrong, I love my Eathquaker Afterneath and my Walrus Fathom but that's a whole other thing. If all you care about is a spring reverb sound Wampler nailed it. If you have the cake it's worth the full price, if you catch it on sale better yet. It is that good.hopelessgearjunkie

Have tried many "high gain" distortion pedals but nothing comes close to this fire breathing beast! Able to reproduce some absolutely crushing distortion to fit many subgenre's in the universe of metal…… everything from your basic metal to extreme tech-death. You get what you pay for….it is pricy but absolutely worth the money! The tight/open switch is essential to craft a specific tone, when paired with the 3 band EQ the options are limitless. And it sounds amazing in front of the amp or through the loop. I am running into a DSL40 clean channel with modded tube setup and is possibly the best sound I have ever found. Pushing this through an old custom Sheffield 150W 2×12 cab accomplishes the chugga chugga. Studio quality sound. Build is all metal housing, like a tank. Knobs are some type of phenolic compound, and the in/out is on top…love this arrangement (other companies should take note and stop putting in/out on the sides). You can feel the quality. Sound: This pedal gives you that Fender Spring Reverb tank sound and more. I play super clean and on occasion add some overdrive just for that amp breakup sound. As for times to make it sound better, the Wampler website has downloadable manuals that explain what each control knob does and gives you four starting point examples for getting different tones. Features: With three functions you can dial in your tone to suit what you are doing. Ease of Use: You get Depth, Tone and Volume on this pedal and I have found the sweet spot that works for me with very little effort Quality: This is an American made pedal from Wampler which should tell any guitarist that its 100% in craftsmanship and durability. Its a tough little pedal that is going to last a long time even on the road. Value: Have you ever heard the term "you get what you pay for?" With this pedal you get a great reverb sound that is worth every penny of the price. Manufacturer Support: I've met Brian Wampler and he was as nice as he appears on his YouTube videos. This company started as a mom and pop shop and grown into a superstar worldwide and yet Wampler has not gotten greedy and outsourced its production to other countries just to turn an extra buck. Wampler is a company with great integrity. The Wow Factor: The wow factor here is that for such a small pedal you get an incredible sound. I have played a lot of mini reverb pedals and other larger over $500 reverb pedals. This Faux Spring Reverb pedal by Wampler sets on my board and gives me exactly the tone im looking for! Overall: I have looked high and low at reverb effects only to find this incredible pedal from Wampler. There are several choices for reverb pedals and they have a lot of options from Hall, Plate to Spring just to name a few. I realized quickly that I wanted a reverb that gives you reverb like a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp does and this pedal gets you there and more. I would highly recommend this reverb pedal as an always on pedal … that what it has become on my pedal board.Cd

Can't say much that hasn't been said already. What I can say after using this pedal for a year is that it is the best bigmuff out there. It's all about the tone wicker. To me it's like a vintage bigmuff switch. you flip it and holy dancing cows instant grit and velcro-like-texture fuzziness. you combo this with the right tube amp and Wallah! Siamese Dream tone. Cool thing is, costs much much less what you'd pay for a vintage (banged-unreliable-overpriced-oversized) V4-V5 bigmuff. Careful with the tonebypass, the thing is a 30db volume boost. good for saturated tubes I guess. in my opinion, it's as useless as it was 30 years ago in the V3 or V5 pedals. it does sement this version as a definitive throwback. both switches are there for a reason, EHX knew it, I know it and now you know it. (funny story: Musiciansfriend sensors the word MxUxFxF. cannot use it in the review or tags, yeah, it's a dirty woord to 'em. They did allow EHX to put it on the title though!)zaiten

very classic big muff pi. standard fuzz/distortion. these aren't the best sounding big muffs, but they still sound great for way less money. having an led and power supply jack for modern power supplies is a plus. the construction is way better than the early ones, so less failures and more consistency. true bypass is standard dp3t switches. you can always gut it and put in your own 8) you can't really go wrong with the big muff pi. my suggestion tho is run it on batteries that are almost dead.. some true magic happens when you starve these down to about 6 volts.phatjbp

First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. It's super affordable, very easy to use, sounds terrific, and is a total blast to play. In fact, this is the FIRST of TWO guitar pedals I recommend for every novice guitarist. Have still to explore all the tonal possibilities of this aptly-named dual distortion pedal but first impressions have been very positive. The unit is smaller and lighter than I expected but the two foot switches are well separated. With six controls for each channel plus shared 'hi' and 'lo' EQ there are plenty of tone-shaping options. The user manual helpfully suggests some settings to get you started. The internal noise gate has so far proved very effective left on the 'natural' setting. You can adjust the threshold to suit your guitar's output, but having used the pedal with guitars loaded with vintage, medium output and hot humbuckers, I've found no need to alter the default factory setting. If you're in the market for a versatile high-gain distortion pedal I would strongly recommend taking a look at this one.Christopher D.

Seems like since I order off line I get sent nothing but the junk they can't unload. Having had an original power wah fuzz which also had a volume pedal when the wah was not in use; and costing less. This is not nearly as functional. The wide range of "sweep" with the Wah makes it better than the crybaby, but I would get better "Fuzz" if I just slit my speakers.Dewey S

Excellent pedal, switchless means no clumsy push forward to engage the switch and the wah lock function is awesome for picking a tome mid sweep and locking it in. The woah function is a bonus, good combined with Fuzz and I can imagine it working well with Bass. Only downside is it devours batteries but so does every other Wah I've tried, the glow in the dark really pops making it easy to locate on a dark stage. I've had a Morley NFS wah I've been using for YEARS. I've had it for probably 15 years, and it was already old when I got it. It sounds amazing, but the footprint is massive. After morley released their smaller 2020 line, I contacted them and they told me the wah boost is basically a grandson to the NFS wah. They weren't wrong at all. It sounds great, very very close to my old wah. The biggest advantage though is being able to adjust the amount of boost that the wah is providing. It just sounds really great and doesn't thin out like some other "classic" wahs can. I'd definitely recommend.Daniel

This case fits my Soundcraft Ui16 perfectly. And it's much better than carrying the Ui16 in the suitcase with my cables. I just unzip the case and pull out the preconnected power and main output XLR to my PA, plug in my phone and I've got background music playing in 10minutes into my load-in. Two issues with the Gator case: 1) It does not come with rack screws. Boo. Which is why I gave it a 4-stars. 2) the Ui16 is only half-depth, so the the case is a bit top heavy, but the case has feet which stabilize the whole thing better than the completion. Overall, this case is the best option for UI 12/16/24. Wish it came with screws.Mark

Needed another space in my bass rig for my power conditioner and was using a 3-space gator. I like this style because its lighter than a hard case and I I dont bang my gear around. I just need something that is sturdy and will carry my gear. Totally fits the bill.sandfan75

I love this pedal! I used it as a second gain stage for a while, but now I moved it to an always-on signal/grit booster with about 25 – 30% gain into a clean Fender (I play with low output vintage single coils). I get just enough compression and grit. Roll the volume back or pick lighter and it cleans up or dig in and more grit comes.Kyle Rocha

I've tried so many overdrives and I never really like them. I prefer amp break-up. But sometimes I want some extra. My favorite overdrive is the discontinued Moog model. This is the only overdrive I have that even cones close to making me happy. So far it's worked with every guitar and amp combo I've put through it. I feel like it has a raspy female blues singer voice, like Janis Joplin or Beth Hart. It can be mellow and smooth or screaming witch. It just works!Rick B

I put the Conspiracy Theory onto my pedal board but it got a bit lost. I then put it on its own in front of my Blackstar HT1R and it came alive. Wonderful tones and it pushes the amp even at low volumes. This is my first Klon type pedal and is a keeper.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Great pedal if you like smooth distortion and unobtrusive fuzz a la Jimi Hendrix. Extremely well made and well researched as to use transistors etc. that were used in his equipment . Tried it in a store – didn't like it – too subtle. Then I tried it again, and gave it a shot live. It rules. The cool thing about this pedal is that it's really practical – it doesn't blow you away in a store with how "effected" it sounds. Instead, it is incredibly transparent. It allows you to just juice your amp. I bought it after doing a record where I used no pedal, just moved my gain (JTM Marshal style hand wired amp) up and down for different tones. Live I realized I need a pedal that could push my amp without altering the character. The Catalyst does this really well – and gives you all the extra you would want, without sounded at all like a pedal. Most TS style OD cut the bass and push the mids. This pedal pushes everything at once. It can also enhance your mids, which is what happens on my amp when I crank it up, so it captures a very usable approximation of me moving my gain knob around. I'm using it in the spark setting, with the gain almost all the way up. The flame is cool too, but I have a fulltone soul bender for fuzz, so for me, the catalyst is all about transparent "MORE" – so good.jonnyscience

Overall: Very nice pedal hard to adjust noise with distortion. I am using it with a fender champion 100 amp. If you want the nosie to chill out I have to use a separate power source and a nosie reducer pedal. You can a wide range of distortion out of this pedal plus really great overdrive. The really cool feature is on distortion side volts you can make some really cool nosies.Jerome

Purchased this fuzz as I was looking for a fuzz that I could dial way down (to a low fuzz amount, a little sustain, and a little coloring). That is a hard task as most fuzzes are desginged to be overfuzzy. . The first one that I tried was great on the distortion side, exactly how I wanted but the OD side was messed up, cut the signal and made only hum noise. After sending that back the next one was really tasty on both sides. I find it hard to get a reasonable volume and tone with both sides engaged, tends to be really loud when each individual channel is set to a lower OD/Distorition. The volts can give you that dying battery fuzz tone which expands the value of this pedal. Definnitely a great deal of difference how this reacts with different pickups. Usually there is some tonal differences humbuckers/single coil, but it is more pronounced with this pedal. Easy to get that light fuzzy sound. This is a good pedal to have if you are starting out and need a good Distortion/Booster. The Overdrive side makes a really good clean volume booster. If you don't already have a solo booster, this will be a good one. It makes a pretty mediocre Overdrive when compared to a TS9X or a Metal Muff, but it's still there to boost high gain sounds. The Germanium Distortion is a nice little grit box. It can run from a very tight, gritty distortion to a smooth, open germanium fuzz.All in all, this pedal is more than worth it's weight in salt. The only reason not to consider it is that it's kind of a junior pedal. If you have a full board and are particular about OD, you will probably want to get something like a Tube Screamer or an OCD or Green Rhino, etc. There are much better OD type pedals out there for picky customers. This, however, is a great pedal and could work on many people's boards. Essential if you need a cheap booster/fuzz/overdrive/distortion all in one pedal.srinivassa

This pedal promises the early EVH "brown sound" and it delivers! Sounds amazing in front of my Vox AC15 – which normally does not take distortion pedals very well, it tends to create a high-pitch fizz. The pedal is not a one-trick pony because the reverb is very good (better than my amp's real spring reverb) and the presence control helps you find the sweet spot for the brown sound. The "brown" control is not very responsive, because basically you get the brown sound from 0 to 10, and different amounts of gain do not change that character. On the other hand, the pedal responds very well to changes in guitar volume, so you can clean up (and still get Eddie's sound) quite easily. The "level"knob is very responsive. This pedal is not noisy at all, at least running on batteries as I have been doing. It sounds great for both rhythm and leads. It is something like having a wah half the way down all the time, but still sounding great at the whole fretboard. I never had a distortion pedal so great and unique-sounding, and that made my playing sound 100% better like this one. It delivers the brown sound as promised, and with great quality. For this alone this thing is worth having.Clguitar

This is the best brown sound pedal on the market hands down. I've owned about 10 of them from Wampler to Keeley to JHS.. they don't touch the Mad professor. I wouldn't think Finland would put out such good pedals since it's a socialist / communist country.. but they did great on this one.tomokabend

After seeing the reviews on YouTube, I bought this pedal the next day…and then returned it within an hour. The Good: The reverb on this is wonderful and perfectly balanced. It also produced the strong mids for which EVH is known. The Bad: The pedal had an oscillating compression effect (like a phaser, sort of), which I didn't want, and which I could not eliminate or control. I don't know if the phaser effect was built in to replicate Eddie's use of the MXR 90, or if it was some strange anomaly unique to being paired with my amp. The thing is, I used it with a clean-sounding amp. And this amp is touted as working best with a clean-sounding amp, so I would have though my amp would be a perfect match. Whether the phasing/compression effect was intentional or not, I hated it. Had I been able to get rid of that effect, I would have kept the pedal. My advice would be to test this with your equipment before buying.FG
