Reviews:
Bought this guitar when it was on offer. It has a real oak neck. Comes with a cd , booklet , real glass slide. Great value. The body is made of board but the sound is really good.and you can even plug it into an amp. I am so pleased with mine as it's the first time I've got a tune out of a guitar as I am not very good with instruments. You play this guitar with the slide. You just have minimum work to put it together. It comes with the strings and clear instructions. When I bought mine it was cheaper on this site than anywhere else.
I gave this guitar to my Brother-in-Law for Christmas. After a few glasses of champers and much cajoling he agreed to get it out of the box and put it together with my Niece. What hilarity we had watching them, but even with some alcohol involved they assembled it with no problems, tuning it up as they went. Only a few hitches due to the fact they put one of the strings in the wrong position. A tune was soon being strung out and we all had a good laugh. He was made up with it and is looking forward to watching the DVD and becoming more knowledgeable to that style of playing. Money well spent for a lovely gift well received. 10/10
My wife bought me this as a Christmas present, just as a novelty item really (it was in a sale so she only paid 20). It's actually quite impressive for the price. The sound box is only cardboard, but it's reasonably tough, and it sounds pretty good really. It's fun to assemble, and the accompanying CD gets you started pretty easily. It has proper guitar strings, decent enough tuning pegs, and the electric pickup seems to work fine. Like all strings when new, you'll have to keep retuning them for the first few days until they stretch properly, but after that it seems to hold its tuning pretty well. I'd advise using a proper guitar tuner or a phone app to set it up – trying to do it from the tuning notes on the CD is quite hard. I've already had £20 worth of fun out of it, so this was a great buy.

3. Slide Guitar For Blues: Lap Style – Basics 1 (Dvd)
Product Details:
Slide guitar for blues lap steel is a dvd-and-tablature combo that teaches the funky blues tunes, cool riffs, and adventurous improvisations bob brozman pulls from his seemingly bottomless bag of tricks. his tutorial on lap slide guitar will open up exciting musical ideas and powerful techniques for anyone craving the real blues sound. level 3: early intermediate-you have been playing a while and can play some songs and/or instrumentals without too much difficulty. now you want to move into specific styles, develop your repertoire and increase your technique. the instructor still covers the material in detail, but there are more challenges. bob brozman uses a variety of instruments – a weissenborn, a dobro-type resophonic and a national steel – to teach the funky blues tunes, cool riffs and adventurous improvisations that he pulls from his seemingly bottomless bag of tricks. his course in lap style slide guitar will open up exciting musical ideas and powerful techniques for anyone who wants to get into the real blues sound. playing in open d and open g tunings, bob passes along all the sounds and techniques that make up this compelling style. he teaches pieces that range from the "primitive" one-chord renditions of charlie patton to modern-day country/swing blues. you'll get instruction in the use of the round-nose bar and how you can attain quality vibrato, pitch precision, good tone, blue notes, rhythmic effects and control of the slide. bob details licks, turnarounds and improvisations along with numerous exercises and right hand picking drills to help you develop your picking strength. by the time you complete this lesson you'll have an arsenal of licks and the improvisational skills you'll need to go on to even more challenging material. note: you can use any guitar to play this style, although it would be best to have one with a high action.

Reviews:
Bob Brozman has lots of ideas on approaching the lap steel guitar from a blues perspective. He uses open G and open D tunings, which are popular for bottleneck slide guitar blues. His tone bar is the bullet style, which gives certain advantages over other tone bar styles, such as doing single notes easily and rolling the bar for vibrato/bending effects. His advice is solid on other details about making the lap steel come alive. However, you won't learn country pedal steel because that's a different instrument. This set of lessons keeps to the blues while borrowing techniques that Brozman has encountered along the way with his bottleneck slide work on National Resophonics and Dobros. And he's right about the lap steel having lots of unexplored territory that goes beyond the 1950s fad with Hawaiian sounds and the sad wailing from country pedal steel. Borozman's lessons make a great place from which to launch your own sonic adventures on the lap steel.Boxman

Reviews:
I own several cigar box guitars – some I built – some I bought – usually fretted four strings that I mando tune. I wanted a three string for slide – I liked that this had a disk with a slide technique lesson. I was more than pleased – as an instrument, it's as good as most any CBG – they are all pretty crude at best. This one was easy to assemble – holds tune – sounds good acoustic or electric. There were some comments on it not using an actual cigar box, but a factory-made stylized resonator box. While this is true, it is at least as good as a cigar box, and I can understand why they broke that way for consistency and ease of build (which as I said, was super easy). Aesthetically, most people would probably prefer a real cigar box, but come on – it's like a uke – cheesy is part of the shtick. The lesson is good – play along CD and a book – comes with a good glass slide. I recommend it – worth the list price – all the better with the discounts.JoeFromSD
This is a great way to learn slide guitar. It is small & easy to learn. The book is full of great info. The CD is great, with back tracks, A tuning track so you do not need to buy a tuner, as long as you have something to play the CD in. It would be a good idea to buy a cheep tuner. As far as the price you just can't beat it. You can buy one for any wear from under $20.00 to $59.95. you just have to look around for a good price. Even at $30.00 to $ 40.00 is well worth it. The sound of the guitar very good and a small amp helps the sound but is not a must. Also you can take this any ware. In all this is a great product and was well thought out. Plus it is just fun to play!!handcuff123
I wanted a three string cigar box guitar and between a black friday discount and backstage pass points, I couldn't pass this up. Some reviewers complain that it's cardboard but domestic cigar boxes are predominantly cardboard. Also, Fender recently built a cardboard Strat that couldn't be told from a "real" Strat in a blind test. Build time was about ten minutes. I ran the strings around the tuners contrary to the directions so the string paths were straight. Sounds great acoustic and also great amplified. The only thing lacking is markers on the side of the neck. Maybe not sturdy enough for roughneck kids but a good introduction to the cigar box genre. Nice slide included.Mike

6. Slide Guitar Blues (Various Artists) 40 Bottleneck Classics 2cd
Product Details:
The use of slide guitar techniques within blues music is usually taken as a given, although the genesis of the form is not the easiest to trace. it is widely agreed that the roots of slide guitar playing lie in africa. there was also another probable route via the hawaiian islands, they developed their 'slack key' playing style and began to add the use of metal held along the fretboard. however the story is complicated by the famed composer w.c. handy who reported witnessing a blues player at a train station using a knife blade along the strings as early as 1903. it's quite likely that all these scenarios fed into the mix, and by the later 1920s blues players were often using the style. our collection covers a wide period of time from the late 1920s onwards, and features many well known names and highly influential songs.

Reviews:
I bought this dvd because I bought the VHS over 20 years ago and it was finally worn out after dozens of viewings. It cost 50 bucks then.A no brainer at less than half that. For a beginner or intermediate player who knows Taylor's contribution to the Stones' sound it is essential to watch. This dvd helped me with rock and blues and the slide section with Arlen Roth is informative and very helpful. Nothing to dislike here since it is one of my favorite Hot Licks videos and they are all excellent.crazyman315
Excellent playing and easy to understand – feel lucky to have it. Examples are clear and easy to see what he is doing. He keeps it simple so you can pick up some basics very quickly. Plus Mick Taylor jams with Roth and soon you are playing along too. Just simple things to learn which causes you to start improvising on his examples very quickly. Plus it is a joy to remember just how good this guy is – he is only keeping it simple for you so you can start playing almost right away.cds1951

I have tried many brands over the years and never found a good fit. That statement can be taken quite literally. Slides too narrow forced me to use my pinky, slides too big got he middle finger (pun intended), but I like to use my ring finger which feels most natural to me. I tried my first Rock Slide in a store, which helps. The slight internal taper allows some slop in the size and to me felt great from the start and suits my rather thick finger to a tee. Imagine holding your hand down with straight fingers an the thing does not drop to the floor. Having several now, glass as well as brass, they turn out to be very consistent and each is a pleasure to use. Try one!yowhatsshakin
I've got quite a collection of slides already in brass, glass and ceramic materials but mostly I lean towards the glass ones and this latest addition has now become my goto slide. It has a great warm sound , good wieght and is easily the best fitting slide I've ever used. I just wish I'd bought one sooner !Don W.
This is the slide I’ve been looking for for a while. It fits very well on the end of the pinky and stays there. While it’s on the other fingers of the hand are free to move for chords and other fretting. So good I ordered another one as a spare. Great product. Fast delivery as always from Andertons.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Warren Haynes is a superbly talented guitarist. To watch him perform is great. To learn from him is even better. This DVD is an upclose lesson, in which Warren explains electric blues guitar playing in a thorough manner. Though not intended for the beginner, a beginner can learn what it takes to play blues guitar. I waited a while to review this because I wanted to make a good review. The licks and phrases Warren shows can be adapted to your style, he makes this clear. The slide guitar part is really good. It's very difficult to learn to play slide guitar, most give up because they can't get the hang of it. In this DVD, Warren Haynes explains the what not to do's, which actually is THE most important thing when learning to play slide guitar. I wish I had this DVD when I was learning, it would have been very helpful. There are a few songs on this DVD where Warren is playing with a band, and this is a bonus. It is always good to see a great musician playing outside their norm.fadedgypsy

Reviews:
These ceramic or porcelain Dunlop Moonshine or Mudslide slides are a nice alternative to glass or metal. We all know how cool glass or metal is for particular sounds or styles and sometimes those are really what you might be going for. Johnny Winter or Lowell George? Metal is more in that direction. Duane or Bonnie? You want glass. But I like these middle-of-road all-purpose slides for comfort, consistency, sustain and weight. Theyre not too heavy for light-string electric playing and yet they have enough substance for acoustic playing. The tone is pleasing and they have very smooth and level surfaces for slanted techniques and such. I use the 246 size on my middle finger, I have average size hands. The black Mudslides might be slightly darker in tone than the blue Moonshines, either one is great. I probably like the blue ones better because I think they look cooler. Im no Dereck or Sonny, but I grab these whenever I need to channel the giants.gtrfool101
This was my first slide purchase and I actually bought it after watching a YouTube video that featured an interview with Jeremy Spencer. He highly recommended the moonshine ceramic slide so I found it on the GC website and ordered it. I was contemplating on which slide to get, either a brass or ceramic slide and I'm glad I chose this one. It's ease of play on the strings makes me want to use it more and more rather than just pitch it in the guitar accessory drawer. I will order a Dunlop Brass Slide too but I'm also keeping this Moonshine Ceramic Slide in my bag of tricks. Sounds great on both Acoustic and Electric guitars. The gritty feel inside also helps the slide not slide off your finger! I'm very happy with this slide … Two thumbs up!Christopher Thompson _
I am primarily a slide guitarist as I have only one functioning hand, my right. This slide gives a clean sound but must be used on a higher action because of its size and heftiness. I have big fingers and would have liked a larger bore, but That is a minute detail in comparison to its function as a slide.

Reviews:
Although Roy Rogers brings solid credibility from working with John Lee Hooker and developing a distinctive style of playing, DVD is more about his performance than instruction. His comments about the "philosophy" of playing slide is his style, while apparently genuine, did not advance my knowledge in the art. If you are looking for licks and techniques, this one will cover basics. If you are looking for performance video of this artist, you are more likely to be satisfied.Nekkidhead

13. Dunlop Blues Bottle Slide Regular Wall Small
Product Details:
Individually hand blown, durable, seamless glass for a crisp tone, weighted closed-ends for optimum balance the 271 clear small blues bottle slide from dunlop is individually hand blown and made of a durable seamless-glass for a crisp bright-tone. it can be used by slide and lap-slide guitarist for applications such as live stage rehearsals recording studios and more. it features a closed end that is weighted to provide optimum balance. the blues bottle slide was used in pre-depression mississippi where blues masters used medicine-bottle slides to form the roots of modern-day blues.
Reviews:
This is a great slide for some, but I was looking for something with thicker walls. It feels too light and thin to me. The sound is there but with sweat build up for a coricidin style bottle, the lightweight of the slide will make it slide off. I have owned hundreds of slides over the years and all are different. I was purchasing this in hopes of a thick inner wall to add a bit more weight that this one has. I will use this a backup and continue my search for glass slides with no seams.JC
I bought this slide to experiment with size and material. I got a small, and it's still quite a bit too big for my finger. It's long and robust, yet it's super light compared to other glass slides that I own. Sure, it's usable, but I much prefer my other slides. Creates a good sound, but I have to press down much harder than what is comfortable for me – though of course surely part of that is because I'm use to my other slides. Overall – it does what it's supposed to do, but there are other slides out there that make it a lot easier on a guy.izJake
I have a Gibson SG with the strings Derik uses. The sound is really close. This is odd but it had a tiny piece of glass that just barely sticks up right over the logo. I'm sure it's just the one I got. I noticed it while I was playing and it started scraping against the strings. It's just a tiny glass dot. But you can certainly hear it.dfrasu

Reviews:
Different Slide materials yield different timbres. Glass slides vs Metal slides can sound quite different so it's best to check them out in person to see what tone you want. But for the cost, why not have a selection? If you're just looking for a start up slide, metal slides are usually a bit brighter in tone so keep that in mind. All that said, this slide seems very decent quality and a great price.Dr Samurai
Wanted something to start learning slide with, and this will work fine for this. It's identified as ring size 9. If you have any reservations about that size, I would find something larger. It fit me fine, but I suspect it would run small on most males (I'm female). Feels solid, might be a little lightweight for some acoustics. Does what intended to do. Experienced slide players may get more picky about sound, weight, etc.LPWoman
This slide is comfortable to wear and easy to use. The only problem is the size. I can use it on my ring finger when playing but when trying to use it on any other fingers (besides my pinky) it either doesn’t go all the way on or gets stuck in my finger. Aside from that it’s an amazing slide to use if it fits you.garrett
