I bought this brass Balltip Rock Slide and a few others, as part of my search for the correct pinky slide. So far, another slide is winning favorite slide status, the Rock Slide Moulded Glass Slide – it feels lighter and better balanced. By comparison, the brass Balltip feels much like wearing a spark plug socket with the bulk of its weight in the balltip.. I ordered my Ernie Ball Steel Bar with the purchase of my lap steel guitar. It does the job just the way you might expect. My only complaint is that the Ernie Ball logo end cap has very poor glue holding it on so it just falls of with no effort. I imagine I'll just glue it back on with some strong glue.

I have owned two Ernie Ball bars for 25 years. The first is a white tip (regular) and the second is a red tip (heavy). They are both the same dimensions, just the red one is slightly heavier. About 15 years ago I purchased a Dunlop 902 because it was slightly larger and heavier. After a few years, the finish on the Dunlop started to corrode, and I was back to using my Ernie Ball bars. I hadn't seen the Ernie Ball bars for years, but decided to do and Internet search, and found them here on eBay. I bought two more, and the finish and weight appears identical to my originals, which I'm still using. If you play steel guitar, you can never have too many of these!guitarlogictx

I have tried many brands over the years and never found a good fit. That statement can be taken quite literally. Slides too narrow forced me to use my pinky, slides too big got he middle finger (pun intended), but I like to use my ring finger which feels most natural to me. I tried my first Rock Slide in a store, which helps. The slight internal taper allows some slop in the size and to me felt great from the start and suits my rather thick finger to a tee. Imagine holding your hand down with straight fingers an the thing does not drop to the floor. These ceramic or porcelain Dunlop Moonshine or Mudslide slides are a nice alternative to glass or metal. We all know how cool glass or metal is for particular sounds or styles and sometimes those are really what you might be going for. Johnny Winter or Lowell George? Metal is more in that direction. Duane or Bonnie? You want glass. But I like these middle-of-road all-purpose slides for comfort, consistency, sustain and weight. Theyre not too heavy for light-string electric playing and yet they have enough substance for acoustic playing. The tone is pleasing and they have very smooth and level surfaces for slanted techniques and such. I use the 246 size on my middle finger, I have average size hands. The black Mudslides might be slightly darker in tone than the blue Moonshines, either one is great. I probably like the blue ones better because I think they look cooler. This was my first slide purchase and I actually bought it after watching a YouTube video that featured an interview with Jeremy Spencer. He highly recommended the moonshine ceramic slide so I found it on the GC website and ordered it. This slide allows you to play and chord the fretboard pretty much the way you normally would; however, you can quickly flip it right back into slide mode. I never used a slide because trying to figure out where to put one while you were playing other parts of the song was always a problem, not to mention trying to quickly get it back on for the next slide part. This solves the problem. The Jetslide is worn like a ring and when you don't need it in a particular part of a song, you merely flip it back and it is behind your fingers. When you need it again, reach up with your pinkie finger and pull it back into place. Very quick and easy change. I ordered the brass one but didn't want to wait since it was on backorder. The stainless steel version I ended up with is great and it is well made. Hopefully, when they get back to full production, they will start producing their glass ones again, which are really a glass sleeve (multiple colors available) that is siliconed over a regular Jetslide..Mark W.
I've always been a rhythm guitarist, but have tried adding slide over the years. With my smaller hands and fingers, it was always a challenge. I own several other types of slides, full sized and "adjustables" . As far as sound, nothing beats a regular tubular slide worn on the pinky. The relative flatness of the contact area is unbeatable. That said…. This slide is amazing! Wearing it on the ring finger, and after a very short try period in which to use it you just turn it a little with the pinky, this slide lets you get excellent sounds, although is has a smaller radius. The clincher is that after you use it as a slide, a very small movement gets it really out of the way, so that you can REALLY use ALL your fingers to to regular fretwork. Although the "bar" is solid, due to the way it is supported on the base of the ring finger, the weight is very manageable and it is easy to get used to it. After I bought my first one, I had to have a spare to keep on my other working guitar pack! It's that good!Iggy

What makes this slide good is what makes it hard to work with – its weight. Good because the weight improves the sound, in my opinion. Difficult because you'll clank against the fingerboard until you get accustomed to it. I don't have a guitar dedicated to slide, so I'm not using extra heavy strings (.10 or .11 on top) In terms of SIZING: It looks to me that the medium and large sizes are the same slide. The large size looks to have more of the interior reamed out to accomodate a larger finger size. As a result, the medium slide seems a bit heavier. I wear a slide on the third finger and like to get it on top of the second knuckle so it's not flopping around. I bought both medium and large slides and I'm preferring the medium. It fits snugly on top of the second knuckle. The large is a bit looser and more difficult for me to control. I don't know my ring size but I have fairly large hands.Ez2slip
The right slide is a personal thing that can only be found by trying it out. I own slides made from glass, ceramic, brass, and chrome steel. This is a very nice brass slide that is wider at one end. There is a very slight curve in it down the length. .79 inch ID at the wide end (.69 inch ID at narrow end) x .93 inch OD at wide end (.84 OD inch at narrow end) x 2.25 inch long. This slide fits my left hand perfectly. It is my favorite slide in my collection. It has the brass flavor, fits me well, and is easy to work with. I have been looking for the perfect brass slide to use on unamplified acoustic guitar. I have tried many and this is the best so far. But, I am still looking. Very nice slide, the aged effect is well done. The slide fits well on my ring finger, the cutaway at the base allows the finger to bend at the first joint. I first heard about Rockslide on a guitar forum and then looked at their own site for more details before ordering from Anderton's (who are listed as a seller on the Rockslide site). Upon receiving the slides,I was slightly disappointed to read on the packaging that they are made in China: I had the expectation that they were US-made. Bought this guitar when it was on offer. It has a real oak neck. Comes with a cd , booklet , real glass slide. Great value.The body is made of board but the sound is really good.and you can even plug it into an amp. I am so pleased with mine as it's the first time I've got a tune out of a guitar as I am not very good with instruments. You play this guitar with the slide. You just have minimum work to put it together. It comes with the strings and clear instructions. When I bought mine it was cheaper on this site than anywhere else.
I gave this guitar to my Brother-in-Law for Christmas. After a few glasses of champers and much cajoling he agreed to get it out of the box and put it together with my Niece. What hilarity we had watching them, but even with some alcohol involved they assembled it with no problems, tuning it up as they went. Only a few hitches due to the fact they put one of the strings in the wrong position. A tune was soon being strung out and we all had a good laugh. He was made up with it and is looking forward to watching the DVD and becoming more knowledgeable to that style of playing. Money well spent for a lovely gift well received. 10/10
My wife bought me this as a Christmas present, just as a novelty item really (it was in a sale so she only paid 20). It's actually quite impressive for the price. The sound box is only cardboard, but it's reasonably tough, and it sounds pretty good really. It's fun to assemble, and the accompanying CD gets you started pretty easily. It has proper guitar strings, decent enough tuning pegs, and the electric pickup seems to work fine. Like all strings when new, you'll have to keep retuning them for the first few days until they stretch properly, but after that it seems to hold its tuning pretty well. I'd advise using a proper guitar tuner or a phone app to set it up – trying to do it from the tuning notes on the CD is quite hard. I've already had £20 worth of fun out of it, so this was a great buy.

Ordered several of these over the last couple of years. Sizing is inconsistent. About half do not fit and have to be returned (too small). I prefer wearing slide on end of middle finger (a la Billy Gibbons, Bonnie Raitt, and Joe Walsh). As I have large fingers, this means the right I.D. is important as well as the right length. The medium sized ones are the perfect length whereas the large size is too long. Sigh.blackcloud45
