The looks are good for stage (the audience doesn't look too closely at the f-holes), but I wouldn't frame the thing and hang it on the wall. But, that's not what it's for. I bought this because I am an ordinary mortal who cannot afford a Gibson 335. This eases my 335 lust quite handily. The neck intonation is precise, my guitar came set up ideally, it has a great palette of tones. Unlike a Gibson, it has only one volume and one tone control, so one accesses that palette of tone differently. A plus- I can do volume-pot roll-ons more easily than with a 4-knob setup. It stays in tune, and is happiest when playing with a good tube amp set just at breakup – it cleans up with the volume knob, fills its jockstrap when you crank it back up, and use a good overdrive pedal to take it over the top for leads. Epiphones seem to be, in my experience, some of the best-built Chinese guitars. Good tone, good playability and tuning stability, It's the first of my guitars that I grab when headed for a blues gig.the old bald guy
I love the Dot, but I am disappointed in the quality control. I purchased a jet black Dot and I could tell right off the bat that there were problems. The first clue was a scratchy pickup selector switch. The guitar is set up un-neccessarily high. Fortunately it is very easy to adjust the action height on this model. The biggest disappointment is the second day I went to pickup the guitar and cracks had started to develop on the neck! This one when directly back to MF and they seem to have been very helpful. This time around I chose the natural finish, because I want to see the neck wood and determine if I have a finish issue or a genuine structural issue. The Dot I sent back didn't seem to have a structural issue, but the finish at a minimum was below par. The second guitar I received seems to work really well and has consistent tone.Fred
The Epiphone Dot is a major bargain, especially when compared to the USA-made Gibson 335. It has outstanding tone right out of the box. Being a tone fanatic, I replaced the bridge with a Tonepros TPFG bridge with nylon saddles, pickups were replaced by Throbak SLE-101 humbuckers, and the tuners were replaced with Kluson Revolution locking tuners. Now it is an awesome tone monster, still for way less than you would pay for the Gibson 335. Players should be aware that the body is significantly larger than a Strat or a Les Paul — but that's what happens when semi-hollow resonance is what you're after. The center block design is very effective at eliminating unwanted feedback from your amp. Don't think you have to modify it to make it sing, like I said before, it packs a wallop even in stock form. What I do strongly recommend is to have a professional guitar tech or luthier give the guitar a pro setup, complete with truss bar adjustment and saddle adjustment.stonnman

I was excited about getting this guitar because I am so impressed with the Idyllwild acoustic I purchased last year. I was very disappointed with this Boardwalk hollow body electric. Almost all frets had sharp unfinished ends that needed to be filed and polished. The nut was improperly cut for the strings making it impossible to stay in tune. The pick guard was attached with oversized screws that were not properly tightened because they were too long. Needless to say intonation had to be adjusted. No amount of truss rod and bridge adjustment would clear some fret buzz when set to normal string height at the 12th fret. If this guitar went through your California set-up shop someone should be looking for a different career. The general fit and finish is pretty good and the electronics seem to be ok. I’ve been playing, maintaining, and repairing guitars for over 50 years and was able to make this guitar playable. If someone without my knowledge would have returned it as unplayable.Larry

I bought this guitar used at GC. Looks great and sounds great. I brought it home and took it to my first gig with it. It kept going out of tune. I had new strings on it that I stretched out and it should of stayed in tune. The tuners on the headstock are bad. I couldn't find a set of locking tuners that would fit on this guitar without looking like a hack job. I brought it back to GC and got my money back. Honestly, Sire guitars come with locking tuners. So, I received my cv 70'ssquier tele thinline as an early Christmas gift from my wife, and for just a hair under $500, this is a monster of a guitar. The neck, despite a poly finish, is fast and slick and your hands won't stick to it. There were not fret spouts and no adjustments were needed. The pickups are powerful, yet very clean and makes it perfect to run effects through. The semi hollow body is much and light, and the guitar is not really that neck heavy. It's just a joy to play. It's now replacing my Nashville tele as my number one guitar. In fact, I loved it so much, I went out the following week and bought a second one. Don't let the name on the headstock fool you. I have played for 50 years. Have owned and traded all kinds of expensive Fender, GIbson, PRS, and boutique brands. All lovely guitars. Thought I would try a Pawn Shop weirdo a few years back and got a HH Strat made in Japan. Incredible. So I ventured further and got this HH Tele in natural. I can't say enough about how good it looks, sounds and plays. No string buzzing issues for me. Feels like the frets are rolled beautifully on the fretboard sides. I've wanted a semi-hollow for some time and I took the plunge to get this one. It's a very nice guitar that looks good and plays well. I was initially suspicious because of the price, as other guitars in the range did not play so well to me. Anyway, I had the store do a setup to ensure everything was fine and had the strings on I like to use. I change my own strings, of course, but I don't have tools for doing a proper setup. Good thing I did. Their Technician/Luthier CONNER, was very, very conscientious about his work, even fixing a slightly raised 14th fret. He was very meticulous in his inspection and work. If you don't have a semi-hollow body ax, this would be a good choice for the money. I have not had it long enough to say much about the two split-coil switches for the humbuckers. Maybe they'll turn out to add some good sounds as I play more. My only significant gripe is that the back of the neck has a standard gloss finish. If you play guitar, you probably hate that, as well. But some light sanding and oil should improve the playability.George
This was for my son, a late beginner, to add to his Ibanez s521. This was ordered online, not bought off the wall. It comes very well packaged for shipment and arrived with zero scratches or damage. The strings that it has are actually OK and I may keep them for a bit. I am not a huge fan of the gold metallic but it is the kid's preference, and the finish seems nice. I did not see much of the paint covering part of the binding in places as some have remarked, and the binding seems to be pretty decently done. The only really startling indicator of low build quality on ours is the very rough finish on the insides of the f holes. There are places that the paint has small runs in it and you can tell there was cost savings. There are guitars in the price category that are much better finished in there and I would have gladly paid a couple of extra bucks for this. At least they could have painted it black on the sides of the holes, like they did on some of the other colors, to hide it somewhat. On the gold, it is just jarring. I may do just that, after it is out of warranty of course. It is sad because there aren't any other significant issues on mine. The fret ends seem pretty nice and there really isn't any lifting, sprout, or sharpness on any of them. I am intermediate, so I can't really say authoritatively how the tone compares to others objectively, but to my ears it sounds pretty good especially compared to some others in the price range, like the stock Ibanez pickups. Seem to have clarity and not muddy. Like the neck profile. Neck required a slight loosening of the truss rod to straighten and the action was easily lowered to 1.5mm at the 12th fret low e without significant buzzing. The treble bleed does its job and single coil option is nice too. It won't sound like my strat but it does give some versatility. The guitar is very fun to play with its neck profile and radius once I did my mild setup on it, and hard to explain, but I don't want to put it down once I start using it. Despite the one flaw, I still think it is a good buy and recommended.JM
A great es-335 from Epiphone, especially with the alnicoV humbuckers, coil splitting, and quality control all around. I did very little set-up to get nice low action; I must also put on some new strings, loop-tie them, with some stop bar adjustment. I like this glossy ebony finish, but used steel wool on the back of the neck to take down the stickiness. Clear mellow sound with a bit of woodiness on the neck pickup; good for rhythm, CCR, country, jazz, and classic rock. The bridge pickup gives me more attack; good for clear chicken picking, and with pedals heavy distortion chunks and leads. With the coil split, I can almost get a Tele sound on the bridge pickup. The neck shape is sort-of D shaped; I prefer the rounded C-shape of the 1950s Gibsons. Great guitar at a super price on deal of the day sale. This is one of those rare very low priced yet quality guitars worth buying and playing.Professorchill

Overall: I am very very happy with this guitar. It is not a perfect instrument, but for the price, you can't really get a better semi hollow, and with the 339 body, its almost impossible to find a sub $500 model. Was really happy with the specs that Epiphone has upgraded to, the grover tuners and graphtech nut really help sell the package, (i hate switching out sub-par parts). The paint job on the F holes was a little lacking but I was able to touch up with a paint marker and the plywood top was sanded a little to much in some places, revealing the ply, but I really can't complain. the stock pickups sound great and while setting the instrument up, I was very impressed at how solidly put together it is and how well it plays. Great fret work, usually the frets are lacking on a guitar in this price range. It would be great to see a deluxe model for the 339 with some more cosmetic upgrades and pickups but this instrument is a steal, get it now!
I have always wanted a 335, but did not like the larger size. I saw this 339 and stepped up and bought it home. Had to wait 6 weeks, but was it ever worth it. This is the best guitar I have ever played or been around. Cannot make my mind up if it plays better than it looks, or if it looks better then it sounds. It came set up really well, intonation and all. All I had to do was tune it and go. Cannot find one flaw in the paint, assembly or anything wrong at all. It rings so true, holds a note and there is a major difference when selecting either pickup or both, and the tone and volume controls lets you have an infinite setting control on tone and volume. Set the bridge to really ring out and the neck one a little muddy and together it is killer, but can flip the switch and brighten a solo up good. An absolute joy to play. Just strike your favorite chord and let it ring…beautiful fun. I was worried about the neck thickness, but it is a non issue. Easy to chord, simple to fret in any way you please. Very comfortable to hold and play, with a slightly chunky neck which is my preference. Combines the best aspects of 335s and Les Pauls. It's also heavier than I thought it would be (again for me a good thing, I don't like feather-light guitars) I was expecting SG weights and annoying neck dive. As suggested already it seems to sound somewhere between a full-sized 335 type and a solid body, which again isn't much of a surprise. Seems to have more twang than my LP which is good for my taste, which is more soul and funk. The finish is also perfect, though slightly different to the one advertised at the time of purchase. The neck fades into a natural varnish rather than the all-black paint. Also the sides are solid natural varnish rather than the fading between black and natural effect.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I got this on sale and it's worth what I paid. Out of the box, it needed a setup including fret level, neck relief adjustment, action, intonation, nut, pickup height, etc. I needed to tighten almost every screw on the guitar as well. I setup the trem to float and I'm surprised how well it stays in tune. Also, the fretboard is the driest wood I've ever seen! I don't think it's rosewood, but even after oiling it's really dry feeling. I hope this will cure itself with heavy jamming. After all that, the guitar plays great! The humbucker is not bad at all. The single coils are not all that good, and the tone pot has some crud in there that I could not get rid of completely even spraying it with contact cleaner, but it's fine. I bought these for a couple of friends so we could have guitars tuned 1/2 step down to jam along with some different songs (van halen, guns n roses, 80's rock/metal). For this, the guitar will be just fine.Joe
Bought this on sale thinking it would be something I could loan out or let people play during jam sessions. But after spending about 2 hours trying to fix the intonation and an annoying buzz on the lower strings between the 10th – 14th frets I gave up (yes I adjusted the truss rod). The intonation was the biggest issue. Even with my strobe tuner and lots of tweaking at the bridge with the saddle lengths, I could never get the basic open chords at the bottom of the neck to play remotely in tune with each other. The string buzz would probably be solvable with some fret work but why bother if the intonation is so far off? You'd think with modern machining the fret spacing and intonation would be a non-issue. Oh and if for some reason you do buy this, you'll want to file down the edge of the frets. They are a tad sharp. Not awful but enough to annoy you. The electronics are actually OK and the humbucker at the bridge packs a decent punch. Personally, it would have made more sense to put the single coil at the bridge for some snap and move the H to the neck or mid but whatever. It sounded nice for a cheap guitar. Oh and the finish was excellent. No glitches, neck had a nice satin feel. Yeah you can see the wire leads off the two single coil pickups in the cavity but that didn't bother me at all (like it does others).
The Rogue Rocketeer Electric Guitar is clearly a beginner / try it out type electric guitar. The accessories are okay, but you want to consider spending less on individual components and shop around – though you may pay more in total. The included amp wasn't anything to write home about and was a bit better than a travel amp. That said, if you are looking to give this as a gift to a kid who is not 75%+ committed to becoming a rock star you will probably save more with this bundle, but be prepared to replace the strap and amp. I found the design of the guitar to be decent, but it clearly looks and feels like it's price range. Compared to other cheap guitars at a similar price, it was on par. I was more impressed with the "Rogue RA-090 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar" from the same company in feeling and value compared to the price during my demo review session. The build of this electric guitar was solid enough, so it looks like Rogue has quality controls in place and you will hopefully get a properly QAed and functioning guitar. Bottom line, if you are serious about getting into guitar I would recommend spending a bit more on different guitar and amp – but if you don't want to invest too much time researching, this bundle will give you a playable guitar which will be suitable to start on and you won't feel bad about passing this down or on to someone else when you upgrade. Received new guitar – fret buzz all over, bridge saddles were touching each other and causing vibration buzz. Originally, I raised action (still buzz) and then adjusted truss rod – still buzzing. Almost returned guitar due to bad buzz. (Utter frustration at this point) Tried one last thing: Loosened strings and started on low E string string (thickest string) – moved bridge saddles so not touching for all strings one by one ( string order E, A, D, G, B, E). Fret buzz or general buzz gone. Lowered string height first — still no buzz and then adjusted truss rod back to original position ( I added more relief originally but not necessary since neck bow was not problem) . Fret buzz still gone and now action is much lower and fast. Great guitar super light in weight – Have Vintage natural finish, finish has no gloss or very low gloss but looks great. Watch bridge saddles that our touching too much, mine had almost no space and jammed next to each other causing buzz or vibration. I really like everything about this AG75. I was pleasantly surprised. The pickups are very sensitive and responsive, over the full aural range, and with utmost clarity. The slim D neck and finely finished fretboard affords comfort with low and fast action! The overall body integrity is impressive with attention to detail. I have been playing it exclusively for three weeks, and like a good book, it's hard to put down! Makes hours of otherwise monotonous practice FUN and enjoyable again! Just a slight problem with "honking," but it was very easy to adjust it away with the pickup height adjusters. I prefer this over my other two Ibanez Artcore AF types, and they are fine as well. My highest recommendation, especially if you can buy it for under $500.00, total! Sounds and plays like a $2-Grand Gibson when set up and intonated properly.rgwhitlock

At the base price, I was wondering how well made this would be but I wanted the white/ivory color so I bought it and I am glad I did. I had a guitar that cost a lot more and since I generally only keep one guitar (I am not a hoarder) I wanted to see which I liked better. Of the two, this one was easier for me to play. I like the big hollow-body feel and sound as well. The pickups would be the cheapest part but they are more than passable (though sound is personal and pickups can be changed). The guitar has a lot of heft (weight) to it in, what I consider, a good way. The neck is thicker than what I expected from Ibanez, although it is a hollow-body and not one of their metal guitars. Personally, I will change out the strings for Elixirs, the tuners for locking tuners, and put a Duesenberg tremolo (vibrato) on it (and maybe a roller bridge)(All personal preferences). But even now it is a great guitar to play. I did buy the Ibanez AS100C case for it here on MF (see comment there on the case). This is a great guitar and if anything happened to it I would buy another. It may sound expected in a commentary like this but I would say this is the best guitar I ever owned and I have owned all the brand names. That said, to each their own.BrazilBill
I'm a beginner so I can't say for sure what a super high quality guitar feels like, but I have definitely felt some cheap ones and this does not feel like those. Everything seems to be put together nicely. The action seems pretty good out of the box, and it doesn't seem to have any problems staying in tune after breaking in your strings. Personally, I'm not sure if I would get this rose gold color again. It looks nice, and matches the hardware very well, but to me something about the satin finish makes it feel cheaper than it is. Maybe if the neck was exposed wood instead of painted over I would feel differently, but I'm not sure. It is still a very nice looking guitar and anyone would be happy to own it.Nicolas

At this price I have no complaints. What I will say is replace the pickups with a name brand PAF style and you'll have a killer tone and a good wood.If I wanted a fancier fingerboard I'd go up a model or two but it's really not necessary. I'm also going to put locking tuners. If you get a AS93 with the Super 58 pickups you won't wanna change those after paying extra. I prefer to get Duncans or something equivalent. I don't feel bad tossing the original pickups on this model. I bought a blemish and still trying to find it!!JD

There's a lot of budget guitars out there, but I decided to try this one based on the Fender reputation. I couldn't be happier. First of all, the guitar is stunning to look at, just plain beautiful. That's only the tip of the iceberg. The neck is fast, the action great, and it just feels good to play. Fret ends are so smooth you hardly know they are there, tuners hold tune so well I have only had to tune once in the last week. Checked the intonation on the meter when it arrived and all strings were right on the money. I'm frankly surprised to get such a good instrument at this price point, if I had paid twice as much would still have felt like I stole it. I recommend without reservation, you can't go wrong with this little beauty. One note, it will not fit most gig bags, it is almost 42", if you want a bag or case, make sure it is going to fit!
The guitar arrived with no tool kit or case candy, labels, etc. There was a piece of thread where a label should have been, but no label. I restrung it and tried for two days to get the tuning and intonation right, to no avail. (I have been playing a lot of years…not a beginner). Worst of all looking around the guitar there was a patch of, what appeared to be, dried blood. My conclusion was that this guitar had been sent out to someone else. They had possibly pricked a finger whilst stringing it, then realising it was badly made had returned it. When I ordered, PMT just sent the returned guitar out to me hence no label or tool kit. Incredible guitar in all respects. Plays very nicely. Plenty of volume, and killer tone. Built like a truck! Finish, and look are stellar! Light weight, and balanced. Great for rock, blues, and jazz! Neck is really nice! A simply super quality guitar thats worth every penny. Way above a starter guitar. Used for pro recording, and concerts. Fender has this one done right. If you want more tones, go the the 399 model, but this one is great, and versatile enough for me. Gets many comps from the crowd, and other musicians! Very original cool design!Jack

Ibanez semi-hollow with tons of upgrades! gotoh aluminum bridge and tailpiece, gotoh magnum locking tuners, ibanez super 58 custom pickups, graphtech tusq nut, full fret level, dress, crown and polish. some cosmetic issues with the body as pictured, but minor overall. there is a ding in the back from a previous owner that does not affect functionality. the upgrades put into this cost over twice what the guitar was worth when new, and was done with the purpose of making a great looking and sounding gold & tobacco burst style semi-hollow. plays and looks great, currently strung with flatwounds for a cool bluesy sound.

This guitar is so pretty, in a masculine way, but even more than that it's a great guitar to play. I just got home from GC, and I have been playing since I got home other than to eat. It sounds great, it feels great, it's just a great piece of equipment. My girlfriend got mad cause I said my guitar feels better than she does. (I really mean it) just joking if she reads this. Also, with my pedal, I am just starting to find all the sounds that are possible. And that is only toggled in one place. The tone control is almost like an eq. So when I get thru the rest of the toggle and tone controls I will let you know. But even with so little time playing, I would recommend you go buy one NOW.Majiik
This is my first electric and I really like it. I tried some budget strats (mexican and squirer) before setting for this semi hollow body (solid bodies have too much of an attack). It fits really well as its smaller sized than other semi hollow or full hollow body guitars so it fits very well and plays nice. The neck profile is average and the fretboard radius is high, making bends and soloing easier. Tone wise, this guitar packs a very solid mid range. Its not the best on bass or very high treble. The tone is warm and resonant but not as much as a solid body archtop. There were two problems with the guitar. The model I got had uneven frets and low action setup as default. So there was considerable fretbuzz. Intonation changes on the bridge did not fix it so had to raise the action a bit. The other problem is the constant amount of tuning it needs. The guitar has a hard time staying in tune. But its not too terribly off after some playing so the fix is easy. Would not recommend it to someone who wants to perform on stage due to this issue. Otherwise for practice and jamming, this is ideal – especially for blues and jazz.Khalian

I am rating it based on the price point expectations I had before ordering. It is a really great guitar. You have to expect that it will come with some defects and issues. Small paint/binding issues, some glue and wood chips loose inside the guitar that I took out. The guitar wasn?t set up well on arrival. I did a string change and truss rod adjustment to get rid of some fretting out on the first fret. The components are cheap, input Jack was broken shortly after my first show with it. The guitar itself is solid! Well built, stays in tune. Neck is very thick. I would purchase another even with issues. I wasn?t expecting a perfect guitar just something that I can play hard and maybe replace some components down the road.Cory
Very nice looking guitar. Set-up pretty well out of the box with fret ends nice and smooth. Needed slight intonation. Unfortunately the shipper basically smashed the box and the three-way toggle switch was damaged and not functional. Rather than send the guitar back I pulled out the switch and was able to repair it. Finish around the switch hole (under the retaining ring) was slightly damaged/cracked and had to repair that as well. The guitar plays and sounds quite nice and other than a small kink in the binding where it joins the neck (smooth and under the finish) it is a pretty guitar. Has a minor rattle somewhere that I can't locate (not string buzz), but doesn't come through when amplified. All in all, I am happy with it and its well worth the price.Michael
This is a nice guitar. It?s well made, has a beautiful charcoal burst gloss finish, and has the wonderful mellow sound of a semi-hollowbody guitar. The blacked out hardware is a nice touch. I learned about this guitar from the guitar gear bloggers on YouTube. They ALL gave it great reviews. Some of the older reviews mentioned that the fret ends needed more polishing, and there was some nitpicking about the size and font of the Indio logo. More recent reviews indicate that these issues have been addressed. MY Indio guitar has polished fret ends and it APPEARS to me that the logo is a bit smaller. The fit and finish are EXCELLENT, so perhaps Monoprice has listened to customer complaints and has tightened up their QC. The BIG news here is the PRICE. It's an Ibanez. I am a long time Ibanez fan. Even when they started the Artcore series. I own for PRS CU24's; American Fender Strat Deluxe and Tele; Les Paul elegant and Explorer. Except when I'm playing with our group I'm usually on one of my Ibanez. If they are lower end units like this I expect to change the electronics, nut and tuners. I did the tuners and had planned on installing Seth Lovers. Mean while I put some A4 magnets in the pickups and… NO SETH LOVERS! I love the tone, the responsiveness/sensitivity. See can be smooth as silk with the volume back or nice and crunchy @ 10. Pinch harmonics reach out and grab you in a nice way. Other than the tuning pegs, nut and strap locks she'll stay this way for at least a while. I got her for the color (I'm not into green guitars or fade finishes but she caught my eye for some reason) and what a friend "the Pickle" has become.Mondron
If you want a good looking semi-hollow body guitar that plays and sounds OK, this is probably the best value for money guitar out there. You still get what you pay for, but i think Ibanez has found a good balance in that regard. Craftsmanship : It looks amazing and sounds great for such a cheap guitar. Of course there are some features that could be better, but none of these really affect the looks, playability or sound of the guitar. Sound : the pickups are a little hot and punchy for me, but for a pair of cheap pickups they sound pretty good. They give plenty of output for a good fuzzy sound but also sound reasonably good clean. This guitar can handle a solid rock sound and a decent clean sound as well. A little bright maybe, but you have the individual tone controls to remedy that if you wanted to. Plenty of sustain too. Neck : If you're coming from a Fender electric guitar it could take a little getting used to the smaller scale length, the bigger radius of the fretboard and the smaller string spacing. But nothing dramatic. I would think this is the perfect beginner guitar for those reasons. The neck profile feels good to me. All in all a great guitar for the money.
This is an extremely nice guitar, especially for the price. Great action, set-up, and play-ability straight out the box. Humbucker pickups are nice and warm, giving a nice "dark" tone to the guitar (strong bass and mid-tones) to my ears. Good variation of range of tone from the bridge and neck pickups and so is quite versatile. Lovely overtones/ harmonics going through a Blues Driver into an Orange Micro Terror — you can rock with this! — and the guitar combined well with a Roland Jazz Chorus 22 cancelling out some of the brightness of this amp. Quality of components and finish is very good. It's also a light guitar in terms of weight, so it's a practical instrument to play on stage, especially if you have a long gig — and are starting to get on a bit, like me. Of course, it's green, which might put people off, I guess… Then again, it's very eye catching and people won't miss it on stage! In summary, a great guitar at a great price that provides a different blues or jazz tone in addition to your other instruments.Damian F.

I sat down with the Ibanez AF75 at Guitar Center for over 3hrs. I had traded in a guitar and wanted a jazz/blues machine. I had come in with the Ibanez in mind, but also I had my eye on the Epiphone Wildkat, and the Epiphone Dot. I liked the tone of each, but I kept coming back to the Ibanez. Overall, the build on the Wildkat was poor; it couldn't stay in tune even without using the tremolo. I have owned several Dots over the years and had the same problem with each, the necks broke when adjusted, not by myself, but by 3 different luthiers. The Ibanez just has this warmth to it. Unplugged it sounds like every other semi hollow, maybe a bit tinnier, but plugged in, it just sings. This is perfect for blues/jazz/rock/ or in my case, being in the worship band at church. Do yourself a favor, go to Guitar Center, tune one up, and sit with it for 15min on your favorite amp, just a little overdrive and some reverb, and you will see exactly what I mean. Fantastic instrument. Unbelievable price for this quality. Mine stays in tune like a champ. Minor adjustments every few days. Can't believe it.Davetheworshipguy
Overall: I just got this 3/27/2018, after my Gretsch Streamliner was stolen by a FedEx driver a week earlier and marked it as it was delivered and it was not. but when I followed up a couple days later. I was told by a zZounds customer service rep, that the driver told them he had lost it? So I bought this Ibanez and it is indeed blemished at the neck pocket, just a hair line crack in the finish not the support foundation. the guitar has a very nice acoustic tone and the pickups sound good as well. I recommend prepping the neck nut and the intonation bridge or your strings will not slide smoothly and will hang up and you will be out of tune. the electronics meaning the volume/tone, Input jack and 3way toggle are very cheap but work with a little noise when turning the controls. being in the wholesale / retail business zZounds is paying less than half what it is being sold for in most cases. buy it blemished and save a few dollars…it is a good instrument, plays well and sounds good and I will take it to my next Jazz gig.Chuck
I bought a used (maybe five years old) model of this guitar. Changed the strings and that was that. Can a used Chinese made guitar become a favorite? Yes it can. Yes it has. The construction and finish details on this guitar are at a level of the best American Fenders I have played. Vastly superior to the recent Gibson's, which are, in my view, a disgrace. Set up properly this guitar is very comfortable with no issues such as bridge, nut or tailpiece problems. I am truly amazed. The pickups are not great but with proper amp EQ it will make some very warm music for you.jazznotes

Deep acoustic body with great sound even without amplifier. The finish on this guitar is great. Has arched back and front. It has a great neck for me as I have small hands. The pickups are adequate with quite a range of sounds. Truthfully, I am not really an experienced guitar player but I have other guitars and this one is my favorite. I have had it about a year and a half and it stays in tune very well. You won't see many of these and it shows as a much more expensive guitar. I hope this helps someone toward this guitar. I recommend it wholeheartedly but I do not own any expensive guitars to compare with it. I don't have any negatives to report. For the size it is fairly light.gypsyjazzplayer

Looks are stunning. Sound is great. Pups have high output despite "medium" description. Rocks with all genres of music (Jazz to metal). Love that I can use my clean channel for both sparkle and overdrive just by turning up the vol. The 3 position switches for coil tapping aren't really necessary, but you can "kind-of" sound like a single coil Pup. Dont buy this if you want to sound like a strat style coil. This guitar can give a Les Paul studio are run for its money.Gerry

Beautiful guitar, but…the tremolo arm didn't fit. The hole in the bridge was too small. Contacted Monoprice, they offered a refund or an exchange. Decided to carefully ream out the hole with a small, fine circular file. Fret ends as usual were very sharp, easy fix with a foam sanding block. Other than those two bugs, I love the guitar. Wonderful neck, plays and sounds great. Fret work was excellent (except for the VERY sharp ends). Oh, and the bridge saddles are garbage. They are good copies of the original Fender saddles, but those were garbage too. $20 at Eyguitar for brass replacements.Daniel
My OS40 DLX did not arrive with a trem bar so I sourced one from Amazon—it's a standard 5mm with no threads. The bridge was extremely loose (which is normal for a Jazzmaster-type guitar), but the posts AND the sleeves were way too sloppy. Fixed that with some aluminum foil tape. The trem on this model is one way only (tunes downward) and cannot be made to float–like real Jazzmasters–due to the spring being too strong. I replaced the spring with a much weaker version and now it floats and actually stays in tune very well. Last, the bridge is the vintage version which looks like it was made from threaded rod, and the strings will easily shift position when strumming hard. The remedy is a steeper break angle which requires tilting the neck slightly with shims or (like I did) installing a Micro-Tilt device like on real Fenders. This increases the downward pressure on the saddles and along with 11-50 strings the whole thing works great. The body on mine is 2 piece solid wood–not a bunch of scraps like on many cheap guitars–and the fingerboard is exceptional. No shielding under the pickguard but it's an easy fix. Even with the extra work this guitar is a bargain.Matthew
Based on the guitar I received, this is a good starting point if you don't mind doing some work. On the plus side, the finish was very nice and the overall wood components, pickguard, and pickups are solid. On the minus side, there were some issues. The tone pot fell apart and had to be replaced, one of the pickguard screws fell out (stripped), the fretboard was very, very dry and the frets needed some minor work. Also of note, while the neck and body are very nice, the do not join smoothly. the veneer of the body extends beyond the side of the neck at the pocket and took about 2 seconds to crack. All of these items are repairable, but a bit excessive for most beginners.Cullen
