Best Powered Speakers For Acoustic Guitar (2024 Update)

Hosting raging parties, practicing my karaoke, or rocking out with my guitar has never sounded better, and louder, thanks to the new Bose S1 Pro floor monitor speaker designed for just that. Well, it may be a stretch about the raging parties due to the pandemic and me getting too old for that but it’s still an incredible speaker. In any case, this thing was designed just for us audiophiles who love loud, clear, crisp sound even if you’re not entertaining. Out of the box, the S1 was very easy to set up; simply plug it in with the included power cord, download and set up the speaker in the Bose+ app and you’re ready to rock out… or listen to smooth jazz via a Bluetooth connection and your smart device, plug in that acoustic guitar and a microphone for you entertainers, or basically this thing can handle whatever you throw at it. Having been a loyal and repeat customer of anything Bose, it is a simple set up and easy app to control even for those new to their products. I would like to see more options like syncing streaming services and EQ settings in the app similar to the Bose Music app but clearly that’s not what this speaker was designed for. The app does give you the option for Party Mode which you can connect multiple other compatible speakers to. On the speaker itself, which has a convenient handle on top and was surprisingly lighter than other PA monitor speakers I have used in the past, you will find two combo-XLR inputs to connect your instrument and/or microphone. For those musician/singers, Bose uses dedicated ToneMatch processing and Auto EQ to ensure you and the speaker sound the best. There are gains for each of these inputs which let you adjust the reverb, bass, treble and volume. There is a smaller 3.5mm auxiliary input for any other audio devices such as smart phones or MP3 players with a headphone jack which also has a volume control. There is a dedicated line out to connect to other systems. The S1 has built in sensors that know how you have the speaker set up, whether straight up, on its side, elevated or tilted to ensure sound is being distributed appropriately. For those that would like to listen to music or perform where there may not be a power source, Bose added a rechargeable battery option to allow portability. The Bose S1 Pro monitor speaker is a great option from one of the best names in the business. I LOVE this Bose S1 PRO! It is a 150W PA Speaker with a three-channel mixer and 35mm mount. It features two combo XLRs w/ 1/4" jack and 3.5mm or BT 5.0 as 3rd input. A line out links to another speaker or mixer. An onboard accelerometer auto EQs the S1 Pro based on the speaker orientation in one of 4 positions: on the ground, on its side, tilted back, or elevated. You can hear the differences, especially regarding the bass EQ in all positions. The Bose Connect app brings smart connectivity and ease of use for streaming. I am trying to find a battery to make it portable, but I will need to wait with supply problems. This thing is the truth for its size and the sound it produces; the sound stage is simply magic using the angles speakers in the array. The speaker sounds great, from the lows to the highs! Everything is clear and well represented with the BOSE profile fans know and love. In my opinion, there is bass, but it sounds small (as it should), which is why I yearn to buy something else or have the option to add a subwoofer separately, which is not currently an available option. There isn't nearly enough bass, and there is no ability to adjust on the fly. I wish there were a wireless subwoofer to fill in the lows I am yearning for. Why isn't there a tone match jack for Bose mixer? Yes, vocal and guitar work fine, but it would be nice to have it on every input. What if we want to connect something else via BlueTooth? The sound is excellent from this speaker, and the size is perfect for a well-built package; the S1 Pro will last for years to come. There is a lot to like about the Bose S1 Pro from its lightweight 13.5 lb adaptable form-factor, durable construction, and its built-in 3-channel mixer. This specific version does not include the rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, reducing the upfront cost and weight of the speaker, but limits you to spaces where you can plug the speaker into an outlet 6 feet away to use it. A battery can be purchased separately or you can opt for the bundled version for on-the-go use. Thankfully, a battery is trivial to install in the bottom of the speaker beneath a panel attached with two easy-to-remove screws, if you decide you need this feature, and I like that this design allows you to easily replace the battery, if needed. There’s a chunky handle inlaid on the top of the speaker so that it sits flush with the body, allowing you to carry and move it around easily. This speaker can be used in a number of orientations including upright, horizontal, tilted back, and stand mounted (35mm), each providing a different sound profile that automatically adjusts EQ to achieve optimal projection. There are rubber non-slip pads on all the surfaces that you can use when the unit is freestanding. While it seems a small bother, the logo on the front of the speaker can be rotated 360° in 90° intervals (counter-clockwise only) in order to match the orientation of the speaker as well. This speaker has 3 input channels, 2 XLR and one 3.5mm AUX/Bluetooth combo channel. The two XLR inputs also accept ¼” jack inputs and can be used with any powered input device, like a microphone, mixer, looper, or instrument, for example a guitar or keyboard, but neither channel offers phantom power so would not be suitable for condenser microphones that require it. There are individual volume controls for each channel, though only the XLR channels have EQ adjustment dials: treble, bass, and reverb. Additionally, you can enable ToneMatch for mic or guitar input, which applies additional presets accordingly like a low-cut filter. Setting ToneMatch to ‘off’ is equivalent to line level input. The PA system can pair with a Bluetooth audio source by pressing the Bluetooth button for several seconds to enter pairing mode. Note that if AUX input is used, Bluetooth input will be overridden even if a Bluetooth source is paired with the speaker and transmitting audio. When paired with a phone, you can receive notification sounds through the speaker, but if you receive a phone call, ringing and call audio will not be played through the speaker. With my Android phone, I had to download the Bose Connect app in order to pair to the S1 Pro, though I was able to directly pair an iPhone to the speaker without the app. The Bose Connect app does offer more functionality for you to manage the speaker’s settings like paired Bluetooth devices, enable ‘Party Mode’ to sync audio output to other Bose SoundLink Bluetooth speakers for multi-speaker playback, toggle on/off ‘auto-off’ (to save battery power), and check remaining battery life (if installed). If you do have a second speaker paired in Party Mode, you can subsequently switch to ‘Stereo’ mode for left and right track separation on each speaker rather than playing the same audio in unison. You can also daisy chain a second S1 Pro with a ¼” TRS cable using the Line Out port, however, it is not possible to achieve true stereo output with this method. In terms of audio quality, the sound is very good. While mono only, it’s clean and balanced with a decent amount of bass reproduction; however, I felt channel 3 lacked a little bit of treble depth both over Bluetooth and via AUX input, and unfortunately it’s the only channel that doesn’t allow for onboard EQ adjustments, so you’ll need to set the EQ from the source device when possible. The other thing to keep in mind is that at high volumes, it is possible to experience some clipping and distortion, and the LED next to each channel’s volume dial will display red when the input signal exceeds the limiters, indicating the volume should be reduced in order to protect the speaker from damage and improve sound quality. Performance of my dynamic microphone with the S1 Pro was awesome. The audio is clear and very crisp, but keep in mind the ToneMatch Mic mode is optimized for close usage with your mouth nearly touching the mic. The reverb controls are also nice for creating a sense of space and dimension without muddying the sound too much, depending on the experience you’re going for. The PA system is perfect for both solo and duo singers/musicians. We love using it for karaoke since we can have two mics attached for duet numbers and the music input on channel 3. The one thing I don't recommend the speaker for is pairing over Bluetooth with a video source, for example to watch video on a mobile device or stream audio from a movie projector because there is a miniscule but noticeable (to me) amount of lag/delay between the audio and the image on the screen when used this way. I bought one of these speakers here at MF about 4 years ago and with this sale price, it is even less expensive now! This powered monitor is a true workhorse and it has enormous headroom. I have used this speaker in many musical applications and it has performed flawlessly. I bought a Harbinger 4112, last year and played a Yamaha P-515 directly straight into the back of each speaker, rather than into a mixing console/board. I did a mono, one speaker comparison. The Harbinger did have better frequency response, yet was much more harsh sounding. This Alto sounds smooth and warm and I have never needed to turn it past unity gain. This monitor is on sale right now and I can not recommend buying it, enough. The listed 1000 watts RMS are real, and the drivers can handle the power with ease. The only point of contention is that they do scratch very easily and so I would find a good generic extra sized tote for each monitor and wrap each one with a thin blanket before placing them inside for transporting. Very pleased with this ALTO Ts310 It is a great product I’ve had the 8 inch and a 10 inch and I love to know what the 15inch sounds like. Also own QSC K-series speakers two and the Bose L1S system. I know a thing or two about sound Quality. If these speakers are reliable I can see me buying many more of these for the music sessions I do. I can leave these in the boot of my car and get in from a GIG to my family and not have to unload the whole car, they are nice and compact and have plenty of power for an all nighter in a normal size pub. In fact the sound quality has made me compare this to Speakers three times the price, in my situation I don’t need to push the sound too loud so that the audience is uncomfortable for me although they have for 2000 W available I only use about 25% of that in the small venues I run. I purchased the TS312 as basically a "second attempt" to find an all-around speaker for home practice using my HX Stomp (modeling pedal), as well as synths, drum machines, and some bass guitar. I first purchased the HeadRush FRFR-108, which was a new release as a smaller version of last year's FRFR-112. (The FRFR-112 and TS312 are essentially the exact same speaker – the HeadRush is just marketed towards use with guitar modelers). But the FRFR-108 was a pretty big disappointment – the low end was flabby and distorted, even within the typical frequency range of guitars. And trying to run bass guitar or deep frequencies from a synth or keyboard was essentially a non-starter. The Alto TS312 excels in all of the areas that the FRFR-108 failed me. It has massive low end when placed on the floor as a "wedge" monitor, but retains clarity and articulation even at lower practice volumes. Modelers like the Helix can cover a huge variety of tonal genres, and the TS312 accurately conveys those sounds while feeling mostly like a "real amp". The only real downside to the TS312 is that at 35 pounds and approximately 2 feet in width, it's not quite as compact as I had hoped. But it's also not significantly bulkier than a 12" guitar combo (or certainly a 2×12" like a Fender Twin or Vox AC30). With the giant handles on all sides, it's also much easier to move around. And unlike a guitar amplifier, a good FRFR/PA speaker can be used with a variety of instruments, including guitar, bass, synth, drum machines, and vocals. This Alto unit seems to be a pretty good value and I hope to get many years of good use out of it.Jeff H

My first purchase from WW Stereo, fast service even in these challenging times. That being said, I have been purchasing excellent stereo equipment for the past 40 years. For the price, these PSB's are a steal! I have had Epos, Snell, Infinity, Def Tech, Celestion, and many other brands of speakers over the years. These compare very favorably with Snell's I had that were three times the price. Compact size, yet full bodied sound. Huge sound-stage, and very even frequency response. Highly recommended!ANDREW

I have paired this speakers with Marantz PM 5005 amp (both bought from HiFiMART) and Allo boss 1.2 network music player. I mostly listen to Tamil cine music and this combination sounds awesome. I'm no audiophile and I have been using it for the last 10 months.Antony A.

I've recently owned the Klipsch RP-150, Elac Uni-Fi and Dynaudio Excite X-14 and though the PSB's are smaller,they sound more balanced to my aging ears. Those who like dance music, rap and metal may want to look elsewhere but for jazz, classical, pop and instrumentals, etc. the P5's sound refined, full and truthful. I'm rediscovering my CD oldies due to the forgiving nature in this attractive Paul Barton design. Newer recordings just sound excellent. I do think it's a shame that the audio press hasn't as yet given these more coverage because they really do deserve it. It may take a couple days for them to really come into their own. Be patient and experiment with placement and you'll be amply rewarded. It's said these sound better with a more powerful amp or receiver but i can't imagine they'd sound bad even with modest one. I'm using an older Sony ES receiver that pushes 120 high-current watts and am very pleased with this combination, though other quality receivers with lower power ratings should do just as nicely. These aren't power hogs in the least. After all, the P series are the new entry-level series for the company. It will be interesting to see what Mr. Barton will come up with next. I've had the opportunity to use this Line 6 FRFR system now for a few weeks and I have to say, I'm impressed. Yes I've still got my tube amps, however, after using this for band practices, I don't see me hauling them around any longer. I'm using this with my Pod HD500X for now until the Helix comes in that I have on order. The HD500X sounds simply fantastic through this so I can't wait for the Helix. I've also run my Eleven Rack through this with great results. The power is superb for a guitar rig, it's SUPER loud and easily cuts through the mix. I'm running the L2t with an L2m in a stereo setup – setup is simple with a couple AES/EBU cables and the sounds and power is fantastic, hard to go wrong here.John

I have a world of Line 6 gear. Love it. Never again will I try to purchase it or anything else from Musicians Friend. Too bad, I've given them 1000's over the years💸, and there is just no relationship. I feel like I've been dating a prostitute. Anyway, the item was advertised as blemished and significantly price-reduced. I called to inquire about its condition and was read their description of a blemished item. Ok so I tried it, counting on some semblance of customer service in the event it didn't work out. It didn't. The grill looked like in had been used by the WWE as a prop. Completely bashed in. Proprietary rivets, nothing I could do. It tested fine with a CD player plugged into it. Next time I went to use it. No power. Tried different cables, outlets, power strips..nothing. Luckily, MF snuck an Assurion protection plan into my cart. I never asked to purchase protection, but there it was on my receipt. When I saw the condition of this item, I was glad for the error. Maybe in repair, they could push the grille back into shape, or at least make it convex. First attempt to make a claim with Assurion- fail. The rep misspelled my email. A week later I tried a second attempt. This large speaker was taking up space and doing no work, and I was out 700. The rep would not agree to attempt another email. "Just send me a confirmation," I suggested. But no, they were now only confident that I would receive the shipping label if it was snail-mailed. A week later I sent it in. A few weeks later, I receive a message that they can't repair it, and I can expect a reimbursement in a few more weeks- except for the cost of the protection plan I never ordered, but hey, I used it, so, ok. Sum of the experience- Out 700 for over a month for the privilege of storing and shipping a horribly ugly piece of non-functioning gear. Expecting a partial reimbursement. Did MF offer any suggestions for replacement, or any apologies for the inconvenience, or any customer service? No.Go with Sweetwater

I was romanced by the claim of 830 watts. That sounded good for a one man or duo show. When I got it,there was barely adequate power compared to my Fishman products. But I sent it back because the threshold for piezo pickups was way to high. I had to use a preamp with it to get any volume. This is bad for an amp that claims to be an Acoustic amp.Jack

I bought these little bookshelf computer speakers for my new home office setup. First impression is how good they look with their real wood side panels! I opted to remove the covers to reveal the driver units & bass reflex ports. They weigh in at about 2 kilos each, & measure 14.5cm (W) x 24cm (H) x 16cm (D). The speakers are easy to set up. The right speaker is the active one, and has 2 sets of L & R RCA (phono) line-level inputs. The 2 units are connected together using a supplied length of speaker wire. One minor niggle is it would have been nice if this speaker could have been switched to be the right or left one, to aid positioning. In practice, though, this can be achieved by simply reversing the inputs. The right speaker has a rocker power switch at the back, and the mains lead is permanently attached- I would have liked it if it could be unplugged! It also has volume, treble & bass controls on the right panel. It would have been useful to also have a balance control, although this can be adjusted using your computer's sound control panel. The sound is very clear, if a little bass & treble heavy- the frequency response curve seems to be a tad U-shaped. This can be easily tweaked though, using your computer's graphic equaliser control panel (I have RealTek HD Audio Manager). They sound great at low volume, and they can achieve quite a high volume as well (42W RMS total). The instruction manual gives very little information on how to position the speakers for the best sound- but I guess these days, most people don't bother to read the instructions anyway! Overall, I love my new speakers, and they are sounding better now after about a week of running them in. They are good value as well.jimbob036

I like these speakers a lot. Excellent sound for the price. (I think nothing compares with these for anywhere near the price.) However, I did have some issues. These are the second pair; the first pair became completely imbalanced after a week (i.e., full sound in the right speaker, almost no sound in the left speaker). Edifier was of no help, but Best Buy was wonderful! I just had to assume that systems sometimes fail, and since I liked them so much, I decided to do an exchange. Best Buy made this soooo simple (I didn't even have the original box they came in). It's 2022 … why are they still using those annoying spring-loaded wire clips instead of something more useful like, for example, banana plugs.jthepurchaser

Just got these speakers 2 days ago, they just keep getting better as they break in. Took a chance based off all the reviews. They exceeded my expectations for the price. I'm mainly using them for music from my Mac. They are very clean sounding with more detail then I thought they'd have. You can really hear the nuances in various types of recordings. Nice, tight and punchy, no mussy bass and they seem to have a fairly flat response. Plenty of volume for my small studio apartment. I do recommend lifting them up a bit from what ever surface you will place them on , to prevent the low from coupling with the surface. Use them within their means and you won't be disappointed. I absolutely recommend these for the price.Jj5r

I use both the Eon12s and the Eon15s. Both are excellent powered speakers. The bass sounds better than QSC and the highs are very crisp. I dj weddings. The speakers look beautiful and sound fantastic. The DSP EQ Settings are wonderful. The EON 15s and 12s are selling at a great price because previous buyers didnt understand that the blue tooth is only for adjusting the speakers EQ. I used to use the old JBS MR 15s with a QSC Amp. These speakers sound almost as good as expensive passive speakers. What is best about them? They can take punishment. 3 years and no problems with any of the 15 EONs my DJs use. These speakers are also very simple to use and run in series with each other. Speakers that cost $1,800.00 do not sound as good as the EON Series from JBL. I run my audio feed to them through a compressor, which keep the audio spikes from blowing the speakers. They also sound great using them with a raw feed directly out of your mixer. Buy a pair and you will never regret it.jimmyhmets

I've been using a ~$200 10" powered speaker with Roland synth modules and a Yamaha WX7 for a couple years to emulate brass, winds, and strings. Clean sound, portability, and small size are all a must. This speaker was "ok," but in some situations, sounded slightly ragged. I need another speaker and decided to go upscale with the EON 610, knowing it was about 6lb and a couple inches larger, all around. Compared to my old 10" speaker, the JBL seems taller, wider, and deeper than the dimensional differences would suggest — it's almost as large as some economy 12" models. Where the old box could be planted unobtrusively in front of a music stand or to the side of my chair, the JBL's size might be an issue. Sound-wise, the EON 610 is LOUD, very clean (like listening with a pair of headphones), tight, and transparent. Even with the gain set for mic input, it is extremely quiet. Instruments are smoother and more realistic, although not dramatically. Extended A-B comparison gave the JBL the edge, which, at near twice the cost and twice the power, isn't surprising. Dual channel mixer and selectable EQ curves are nice touches. It's definitely worth the extra $$$, size, and weight. The negatives — yes there are a few. No manual in the box (you need to download it). The Android Bluetooth app requires Android 4.4 or better (why not 4.0?). Unless you have a device with Kit Kat, you are out of luck (or more $$$) to use the heavily advertised Bluetooth feature to tweak EQ and gain with your smart phone or tablet. Various JBL info states all the EON 600 series boxes have a handle on each side, but the 610 has side handles only. Lastly (and this is an observation, not a gripe), the 610 appears not to have the fancy woofer wave guide. Regardless, the coverage is still wider than the 12" or 15" model. In all, the EON 610 might be a little large for a tight pit orchestra, but can probably hold its own on stage for many applications where the smaller box won't cut it. Great performance extracts a small penalty in weight and size. Price gets JBL sound and quality, and a sense of confidence that goes with them. It's a keeper.Guy

I get good compliments for having this JBL brand EON610 PA/speaker for its realistic, clear sound of my voice, which is very easy to understand, even in the back of the audience. I use this for small church audiences. I am told it that my voice sounds very clear and the volume is very good, even from the back of the audience, without being too loud for the front row. One frustrating hassle is that the instructions are extremely brief. If you really search online you can find enough info eventually, but it takes time and persistence, It took me a few hours, over the course of a few days, to figure out how to make the most out of just plugging in my Shure vocal microphone. The Channel 1 and Channel 2 Mic/Line switches are confusing to look at and hard to use without getting a tool to operate the button. The symbols next to the Mic/Line switches say depressed for Mic and not depressed for Line, but it LOOKS like the button is missing! it is actually a white button recessed behind the hole, it requires a dow rod (or anything that will fit) narrow enough to stick in the hole, only then is it easy to feel the click of depressing the button for Mic, (my EON610 arrived as not depressed for Line, so my Shure vocal mic was only as loud as my speaking voice, with the GAIN and MASTER VOLUME both at max). I wondered and stressed for a day if I needed to buy a preamp, before I figured this trick on my own. I don't like having to use my iPhone to operate the EQ. I don't like having to have a mandatory third party remote control. The iPhone app is sluggish making its Bluetooth connection, so I have to fumble around for 10 minutes or more. To be fair, the JBL preset for SPEECH seems to be just fine for my audience, even though it seems a bit boomy to me. The mid-range EQ seems to offer more versatility after much research online. I would recommend this to a friend if I could show them the tricks, straight out of the box. You really need someone to give you tips.Rev316

Extremely happy with these speakers. Got them to use at work in a private office and they sound amazing. They are on my desk a few feet away from me. A few key points: – Sounds great at low and high volumes – Soundscape is well done – Balanced sound with a slight weight to the low to low-mids (which I like). Will say that the lowest frequency response is a little weak but for this price and the speaker size, the frequency arrange is excellent. I didn’t have high expectations for these speakers, mostly because of their small size. I figured they would be lacking in bass but I didn’t want to crowd up my work desk with computer speakers that were too large. What a pleasant surprise! With songs I’ve listen to hundreds of times sounds like new, as I’m hearing subtleties for the first time. And the bass is plenty thumpy. I actually bought a pair of the A5 to compare with these side-by-side. After a couple of weeks of trying to hear the difference, I returned a A5s. That’s how good these are.Gadget Fan

Bud quality A+. Sound is good but not great. The new klipsch powerd speakers. Have higher, and lower frequency reponse. So more fidelity. I feel like something is missing when listening. It is clear and using spdif has no hum or interference. Does not max volume at 100 but 50 so misleading. Still plenty loud. So is it good yes i like these speakers. But loving jazz and classical they feel anemic. If klipsch new speakers where around when i bought these id go with them. Ifnyou listen to pop, hiphop, rap, dub, techno. You'll feel fine. I have used these now for a few days and have to say they are incredible. I have hooked them up to multiple sources to see how they work. A. Turntable via the supplied RCA cable: after adjusting the variable volume setting and finding the right sound field, they sounded great! Broke out some of my old vinyl and really enjoyed it. B. Bluetooth: hooked it up easily to my phone and played some online radio and multiple playlists from my music library. Again, once I set the correct variable sound level, it was easy and sounded really great. C. Portable AM/FM Radio via the supplied audio cable: listened to some over the air radio and sports talk shows. easily changed the sound field to “vocal” and found the right setting. The supplied remote control is easy to learn and allows for quick changing between sources and sound fields. There are 4 different fields: Monitor, Dynamic, Classical, and Vocal. There are also settings on the back for Bass and Treble. Very easy to find the sound that fits your taste. I am using these in my office (10 feet by 12 feet) on a small table. The sound is plenty loud and rich – really perfect for it. I also tried them in the family room and they are good, but not really intended for a party and such. I would get the bigger Edifier speakers if you’re throwing a party with loud music. Overall, I am extremely pleased with these and can’t wait to use them every day!Birdlars

I was skeptical about ordering speakers without hearing them. After reading other's reviews & listening to a comparison between the professional and the S2000MKIII speakers, I decided to take the risk as they could be returned. Not sorry! These speakers are great, I can blast them in my house, they sound great and my neighbors can't hear them. The cord that connects the speakers was an issue for some buyers, me rather than paying $400.00 more to get the professional series in order not to have the cord was not something I wanted to do. I have guitars and an amp in my living room. It is a LIVING room, not a museum.Music

For the price, this speaker is a great choice. The DBR10 has very bright & clear mid range when using the FOH/main DSP setting. This setting also has has some low end boost. I would recommend using the DBR10 paired with a Yamaha sub bass for a complete full range system The speaker cab is plastic and not as robust as DXR range. However, this is not a deal breaker. In reality it is lightweight , looks tidy and a low cost cover will stop scratches. I bought 6 of the DBR10 to use for background music at weddings. They do the job and more . The high pass filters were great for this purpose as it reduces unwanted low rumble and they performed brilliantly for vocal mic when used for speaches / ceremony. Would I recommend ? Yes . DBR10 is perfect for people wanting quality clear sound but working within a budget .paul l.

I currently own a set of Mackie SRM 350 V3's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm a dj and I'm trying to downsize my system and make it more compact, but loud and not compromise the sound. So I've been using my Mackie's with my Yamaha DXS12 MKII sub, and it works great, but the spl's on the Mackie's we're insufficient for some of my larger venues. I decided to go with the DBR10's cause I've noticed the specs for the frequency response were close enough, but what caught my attention was the 129db max spl! So I bought a pair, great job on shipping time B&H, and once I hooked them up and began to crank them, I was blown away by the sound quality, but especially how loud and transparent they sounded! Very pristine and accurate sound like my RCF's, but not at RCF prices, lol! I've been djing 40 years and I've been thru many brands of speakers, these Yamaha DBR10's are now my favorite! Compact, loud, but very clear! They can be used without a sub for small venues and rock them! With my Yamaha sub, forget about it! They are a perfect match, and they all fit in my trunk! I'm impressed by how nicely made these are, and they sound very good too. I like having the option of plugging music sources in, including a turntable without a preamp. They paired with my MP3 player without a hitch. Wish I could say the same for my laptop, but it seems to have a problem (the laptop). It's in the shop now and I hope my guy can figure out what's wrong. The packaging is impressive too–everything very simple and safe. I'm very pleased with them and can't wait to hear them in my cabin in the boonies where they'll replace an old JVC boombox.Robert T

I got these to upgrade my computer sound setup from the crappy cheap speakers I had before. They are massive speakers to put on a desk so be aware of that. The sound they produce is great. I use the included AUX cable to hook up to my PC and off they went. I definitely recommend if using on computer to look through your sound settings on OS to get the best out of them. The bass produced isn't room shaking but is definitely adequate for my EDM music and can shake up the desk they are on quite well. I am planning to add one of their subs down the road. This speaker has auto standby and power up so you can never really have to fiddle with them unless you're switching the input. Speaking of inputs, there are MANY! Optical, RCA, AUX, Bluetooth. I can have my PC, PS4, TV and phone connected at the same time and switch to whatever I want. It would be nice if it would auto switch but just nitpicking. The speakers also look great in my opinion. The exposed drivers and tweeters are a great look. I just have to fight the urge to poke at them. The one criticism I have is there seems to be a slight hiss whenever the speaker is on. The hiss is quite faint, and I can only really hear it when I place my ear right next to the speaker. It doesn't affect the sound at all and when any sound plays through the speaker you cannot hear any hiss. Overall, I am really happy with the purchase and am very happy with Kanto as a brand.A happy Customer

Being a sound engineer with more than 25 years of experience my purchase of the QSC K12.2 was the best investment of my life and I only bought only one because it was the last one in stock at BHP and I had to buy 5 more elsewhere to have three of the same pair. And thank goodness both speakers carry 14-digit serials from the latest revised and more recent versions with the more improved amp free from the many problems that plagued earlier versions. And lastly aftter two weeks of super heavy twst, all of my QSC K12.2's sound ten times as much better, with perfect flat sound response worthy of the most premium profesional studio monitor, much more balanced, much more refined than my brand new and twice as expensive newly purchased RFC-945A's even though they sound also fine and a bit more louder but with a much more colored sound and nothing to do with the delicacy and super more refined sound of my QSC K12.2's. In my personal opinion, after trying various subwoofer configurations from QSC, RFC and others, but the best experience I had was pairing my QSC K12.2 with 3 stacked pairs of Bose Sub 2's in a massive outdoor event with more than 1,500 peoples.Godhere

Purchased first in may then a second unit in 08/22. The second one works of and on, reset many time to get it to work now northing. Tried calling QSC support and tried to work with their suggestions (even updated) both units had current and most recent updates. QSC will repair under warranty but because of the delay in parts production (yes China) parts are hard to get and have faulty components(which complicates thing even more) . You want to get this retailer to help ? GOOD LUCK ! all you will get is a condescending email from some dropout behind a desk .For now I will fix these expensive(somewhat) boat anchors and attempt to dump them on some other fish . I don't have much confidence with a retailer unwilling to take the punch from a manufacturer and allow the customer to have a bad experience. So much for service after the sale.Carlos

I have owned a plethora of Behringer speakers and I am generally a huge fan of their products. For some reason this one fell short. In comparison to the 300 Watt variety, this speaker doesn't pack as much punch as it should if it is boasting 1000 Watts. I owned and extensively used a pair of the older variety which were active and had on board 300 watts of power. Those old ones were BASSY, packed an enormous punch for the wattage. I never even needed a sub when I had that pair of 15's. With this newer model, the on board amp begins clipping almost immediately after turning it up half way. What is the use of a speaker that can't even be turned up past 50% without risk of damage? On top of that the treble has massive volume compared to the low end. I saw on the specs before purchase that the 1000 Watts are supposedly split with 700 to the woofer, 300 to the horn. Well…I'm not sure what went wrong, but this woofer sounds weak in my opinion. It doesn't even have HALF that bass response that those older ones had, when the older ones were only rated at 300 Watts. I'm very confused as to why this is, as the speaker seems to operating as intended. Adjusting the EQ balance on the back of the speaker, or on the mixer doesn't help, as any adjustment to offer more bass into the mix has the speaker immediately showing the "clip" light again. I have no idea why, but where I am normally more than satisfied with Behringer speakers, I am seriously let down by this one. I understand that in most circumstances, these speakers are intended to be paired with subs anyway. That's fine, I just hardly ever use my systems in large enough environments to require subs, and up until now, haven't needed the extra push on the low end. Perhaps this is a way to force us to purchase more products? Making the low end inadequate? Who knows? I'm going to write completely positive reviews about all the great Behringer speakers I've had directly after finishing this one. Unfortunately, this model is a fail in my opinion.Levi Kitchen

Excellent monitors. Very similar to the V1, although with a (thankfully) reduced self noise. Had issues with self-noise and poor gain when using RCA, but since switching to TRS this has been significantly improved. Am now using with a Rode AI-1 with no issues. Setup and room acoustics will have a huge impact on the sound of these, but after some acoustic treatment and dialling in, the sound is now top notch.Oscar

The sound is incredible. The speaker position switches are such a great idea to make sure you’re getting the proper response depending on how you have your speakers mounted. This is my third set … one for my studio, another set went into my agent's voiceover audition studio, and I finally bought a pair on sale for my entertainment room in the house. I first learned about and heard them in a microphone manufacturers lab where they QC their manufacturing process on ribbon microphones.Don

I perform mostly in small to medium settings and have a wide variety of PA systems/set ups. I wanted to scale back to as minimal a system as practical since I decided that hauling around heavy speakers was no longer an option I wanted to continue. I have a Fishman Line array, that has been a staple for me and I added two of these little gems, which really filled out the sound well. During a blow out sale, I purchased a couple Fender (MAUI LD) line arrays and after a few performances, couldn't get a good sound out of them. The Kustoms sounds MUCH warmer and smoother than the LD's throughout the sonic range, and although not quite as loud (volume-wise it was surprisingly close, and not enough to warrant the hassle difference), so I got rid of the Fenders. I was hired by a local Historical Society to perform in a small setting and went with the two Kustom PA50's with my iPad plugged directly into the input provided. I didn't bring or use a mixer and I got endless compliments on how clear the sound was. I then tried out this minimal set-up in a local restaurant that is fairly wide open (overlooking the ocean). Again, the sound spread was amazing and crystal clear. I wasn't 100% certain those in the rear of the restaurant would be able to hear the sound as clearly as towards the front. But that turned out NOT to be the case. My ONLY complaint about these, is if I use them and try and use the speaker out from the Kustoms into the Fishman. For some reason I've yet to figure out, even though the Fishman is powered (and shouldn't pull from the Kustoms), there is a distinct drop-off in volume and degradation in the sound quality of the Kustom speakers. When I unplug the Fishman, the volume and rich sound of the Kustoms rebound immediately. This isn't an issue when I use a mixer, but I have grown fond of the simpler set up and use the Fishman only when necessary.Higmo

I play in an acoustic duo and an acoustic trio act. Usually small venues: wineries, breweries, restaurants. Occasionally outdoor parties and festivals. There are many shows where even my 10" powered speakers on stands take up too much space. These Kustoms are compact enough that I can set them on a chair, on a table, in a corner or on the floor near the stage area, even without a stand. When I look at them, it's hard to believe they weigh almost 15 pounds. But it's the heavy magnets that deliver thumping bass response for a speaker this size. And the other reviews were right: they are screaming loud. I could cover a large hall with 300 people with 2 of these. EQ'd correctly, there is very little distortion, even at high volumes. I have to adjust the channel inputs and master volume during a sound check to find the sweet spot, but that's a 3 minute job and well worth it to get the clearest sound. They are very versatile. Three channels. XLR and quarter inch inputs. I can plug mics, instruments and an ipod into a single speaker, or any combination of inputs. This means they serve as an emergency system if the mixer ever fails. They have an EQ and volume adjustments for each channel. They can be daisy-chained for an easy PA or monitor system. They even have built-in handles: a nice touch not often found on speakers this small. I purchased two of these with the intention of using them as stage monitors. After using them live, I will probably buy two more and replace my 10" powered speakers with these. The sound is not quite as sweet as the 10 inch powered speakers (which sound like a home stereo) but they are darn close. And at the types of shows I play, everyone is usually talking and I don't need concert-quality acoustics. They do not tilt back at an angle for use as stage monitors, but that is easily remedied by simply placing a small wedge like a door-stop under them. Kustom delivers a lot of bang for the buck.Footloose1171

I first got one in 2016 to play solo gigs. Got another one about two years later to expand for a duet. Just ordered another one to use as a monitor. Chaining is easy and sound is full (add a sub if you have live bass instruments going through them). They've always worked for me through over a hundred gigs and they are incredibly versatile. There's a reason why they're rated so highly, Kustom hit on the perfect little box of sound formula. One of these will do a small room, up to fifty people. Two of these can produce enough clear sound for a small theater, up to maybe 100 people. Four can create enough clear volume for small outdoor concerts, maybe up to 250 people.Nomadyag

I guess I'm somewhat of an "audiophile" and take sound very seriously. I primarily listen through a collection of high-end headphones through high-end DACs: Audeze LCDi4, Sennheiser HD800 S, and custom JH Audio Layla IEM as well as a Sennheiser MTW for workouts at the gym and a Sony WH-1000XM3 for the long flights on my frequent business trips. I'm very spoiled by the sound of some excellent headphones – especially the Audeze LCDi4, which is my go-to-headphones for serious listening and which I take out with me on my daily hikes/walks around the mountain trails of the neighborhood. I do have a few Bose SoundLink wireless speakers around the house but I never use them for real listening. They are more for my wife to have playing in the background. After a while, I decided we need to get a real set of good speakers for the bedroom without breaking the bank. I considered the Apple HomePods and some other similar speakers but my main criteria was sound quality. I was not at all interested in a "Smart" speaker that I talk to and which speaks back to me. I wanted sound quality first and foremost. After some research and dismissing various "popular" candidates, I discovered Audioengine and I was intrigued. So, after deliberating and considering the A5+ for a few months, I finally took the plunge. I'm still in the process of breaking in the speakers but I can honestly say that I'm quite impressed and happy with what I'm hearing. I primarily listen to classical music (Beethoven, Brahms, and Wagner being my favorite composers with some Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin and Debussy thrown in) and a little bit of jazz (mostly classic acoustic jazz in the mold of 50's~60's Miles Davis, Bill Evans, and Pat Metheny). My days of rock/metal/pop are long over although I may still play a few oldies here and there. Essentially, I've thoroughly moved on from rock/pop to classical and this genre really does require high-fidelity in terms of frequency range, tonal balance, dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio, soundstage, etc. The A5+ delivers in all these areas and it's exactly what I needed for the bedroom when I don't want to put on the headphones. Since I mainly listen to classical and acoustic jazz, I really wasn't concerned about the low-end but I did try some DJ music by the likes of Armin van Buuren and experimental electronica by Autechre and I determined that the A5+ had as much as low-end as I would ever need and a subwoofer was not at all necessary. Perhaps hip-hop listeners would want to add it but, personally, I'm not into the booming bass kind of thing at all. I also ran through some brutal metal by Meshuggah, old dance pop of Prince, fusion guitar of Allan Holdsworth and jazz-pop vocals of Norah Jones and they all sounded great although I hardly listen to this kind of stuff anymore. Finally, I started playing my classical favorites like Brahms' symphonies, Beethoven's piano concertos, Chopin's Nocturnes and Bach's Mass in B Minor and they brought a big smile to my face. After years of listening almost exclusively through headphones, it was nice to hear the music "floating on air" for a change. The silky clarity in the treble, the warm richness in the mids, and the defined and focused low-end are all there. As much of an audiophile as I am – and I have heard extremely expensive systems that approach six figures with $3K speakers cables and such – I have no interest in spending absurd amounts of money on such a system and tailoring an entire room to accommodate it. I prefer great headphones for that kind of "audiophile" experience anyway. I can say that the Audioengine A5+ more than fills my need and it provides truly superb sound with an outstanding value when one considers how ridiculously expensive high-end speakers can get. The A5+ is so good that I'm now considering another pair for my office and perhaps the A6 with the subwoofer to replace the aging Bose home theater system which I guess is fine for dialogue and explosions in movies but utterly useless for music listening. I'm sure glad to have discovered Audioengine and these speakers. There's no need to break the bank for "audiophile" quality or settle for inferior "mass market" powered speakers. I was sick of my old computer speakers and decided to buy something MUCH better. I was not able to demo the speakers live and I have owned some of the finest speakers made over the years (B&W 801's and B&W 805's, etc.). So as I read reviews, I kept asking myself, but would I be happy with them. The reviews were great and the return policy is outstanding, so I decided to take a chance. I am so glad I did! They met my goal of being MUCH better than my old speakers (the brand that starts with a B and ends in OSE). The sound stage is amazing, but not very forgiving. Keep in mind, I am using these as desktop computer speakers. To sound their best, they have to be in front of monitors or anything else. They also need to be pointed straight at me. When I figured that out, the entire spectrum of sound was so much better and the sound stage and stereo separation was excellent! I am a bassist, so I tend to be really critical there. I attached an image of the sound spectrum. The bass is full and definitely there, but it is fairly tubby sounding and doesn't sound "punchy" until I turn it up to levels that my wife doesn't approve of 😉 One sound test that I always try is "do thy sound good at low levels?" That is one of the hardest things for speakers to do. I can tell you that the engineers at AudioEngine got right with the speaker/amp combination. They sound WONDERFUL at low to lower levels! Staged right, the detail and crispness of these speakers is phenomenal. My wife is SOOOO happy about that! What she was not thrilled about is this speaker system is not really comes to life when you start cranking it up! I got them (for myself) as a Father's Day present. So I told her I had to just try them out at various levels. Instead of making your ears bleed like some speaker systems do, these got punchier and I could feel it in my chest without ear fatigue. These speakers just BEG to be played loud. I think they would be a fantastic whole room or part of a surround sound system where "louder is always better." The only two things that I was a little disappointed in was the highest high and the lows. I am a bassist, so it is easy to be critical of most systems to a degree, but here is why. I attached an image of the sound spectrum of these generated playing some Eagles music. The tweeters were very silky and smooth, but I wish they were a little bit crisper (I am listening to some Journey as I write this, and they are perfect for that sound…). There is also plenty of bass (everything is stock flat, no EQ adjustments here). The bass is just a bit "tubby" sounding. It is not "punchy" until played loud enough that my wife threatened to call the cops! The bass is full enough, but not the most dynamic… You can also see that the highest highs that show off the shimmer of cymbals, the crispness from say brushes on a snare drum, etc. I do love the smoothness and silkiness of the tweeters, but there is some of the sound spectrum lacking. But as reality sets in, I recognize that B&W 801's are now $35,000 a pair. My B&W 805's size wise were more comparable, but they now cost $6000 per pair (with no amp section!). These AudioEngine A+ speakers are not perfect if you are an audio snob, but they are less than 1/10th of the cost of my 805's! And for 805's to sound like 805's, you'll need to spend another $6000 plus for amps and speaker wires! For the money, these speakers are truly unbelievable! I have been pleasantly suprissed and I am thrilled with my decision to "give them a try." You would have had to spend a LOT more to get anything even remotely close to this sound, let alone something better. I HIGHLY recommend them!Barry H.

I am not a audiophile but I hear to hear to music when I get back from work. I earlier had a Klipsch S4i and Creative 5.1speakers which went with my desktop and was pretty satisfied with the quality. I had to move so I had to leave Creative 5.1 speakers and desktop behind. I began searching for a good 2.1 speakers to go along with windows laptop and iPhone. This search ended after 45 days and change 3 speakers after I got to these wonderful speakers. I am one of you guys who search reviews and buy things from the internet. My first buy was Klipsch 2.1 Promedia Wireless, which I bought directly from the company website. I read great reviews from many websites, people praised it a lot and mentioned that they had it for years. Only good thing about the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 that you could connect to the system wireless with a USB dongle. The sound quality was pathetic, sounds of frequency between 300-900 Hz disappears. I tried a lot things to build by these frequency with equalisers and many audio tweaks but was unsuccessful. I tried to give it some proper burn in time for these speakers but with no help. After wasting two weeks I was frustrated and decided to send them back. My suggestion for you guys is that never buy Klipsch 2.1 Promedia if you need quality sound.vre
