A tiny powerhouse of an amplifier. Rock by nature, don’t expect crisp clean sounds, it does what it’s supposed to do.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
This little amp is plugged into a Marshall 2X12 and has more than enough volume to annoy the neighbours. But I got it for low volume practice and use it as a clean pedal platform – sounds great with a Marshall Drive Master and some verb, delay and vibe in the front.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

3. Bluguitar Amp1 Iridium Edition 100 Watt Nanotube Guitar Amp
Product Details:
Amp 1 iridium in mint condition. only played in my home. i'm not going to say played for only a few hours – sounds great so it probably has at least 30 hours of play time. works and sounds great. includes the original box, manual, carry bag, etc. also included is the magnets for attaching to your pedalboard. bluguitar sells these separately and it does work great for holding the amp on the pedalboard, much better than velcro.one other thing in this amp's favor is that because it uses a tube for the power amp, it works really well with attenuators like the waza tube amp expander.only selling because i'm tending to play my other amps more than this one.
Specifications:
Weight | 2 lb |
Reviews:
Mighty sound in a micro package. And it's not a compromise on a traditional tube amp or head. Lots of options, channels and tonal choices. Build quality excellent too. Check out Bluguitar's YT channel Academy of Tone for all you need to know about the AMP1 and the brand.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Open the box, tested with a Katana 2×12 cab, sound was awesome. Same goes to a Laney 2×12 but sounded much more better. Considering the size of the Amp1, the Nanotube is a real deal. Drives is authentic. Growls like the full tube amp head. Cleans nicely from high to low gain. Tried again with a Yamaha powered speaker and speaker out to a BluBox, cuts through with the band easily. Everyone was so impressed with the sounds. Amazing tones.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Overall: I've been looking for portable, potent, Plexi and then some Marshall tone and kept trying little modelers. Most sounded fine, but I struggled to get them right. I have so many great Plexi sounds…and then some…in my Kemper, but wanted something to fit in a gig bag. I remembered having seen Jack Gardiner's video about this and LOVING the sounds he got. When I played this at NAMM 2020, Hall D was just too loud to really appreciate it. But I remembered liking it. So I ordered it. Wow! Let me tell you, I like it so much I just ordered the Remote1 switch for it to use it for more than just a travel option! This thing sounds phenomenal!More often than not, clean channels sound like afterthoughts. This amp has a beautiful clean channel and when combined with the boost gives you excellent, chimey, pushed clean and Vox-like tone. Henning Paulie had Thomas Blug on and they got really close to his Morgan AC30 style amp. Frighteningly close! Well, it really does it! And the dynamics of this amp are incredible. Even with the boost engaged, I can roll the volume down and clean up the vintage and classic channels nicely! I have a lot of amps. This hangs with the big boys easily. And it takes pedals as well as any big amp. I am so happy I can stop looking for a plexi for my gig bag. zZounds has a great return policy. It won't hurt to try it. But I promise you won't likely send it back. I know I won't. This is a keeper.Randy

Reviews:
Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
What it's not: Not a $1k boutique tube amp. Not a mid-size club amp (unless you have great monitors and a good sound guy). What it is: A well designed, very affordable little monster that will give enough stage volume at 5W for rehearsals in a full rock band or small club, and will also allow you to drive the output stage at that 1W or 1/2W setting for recording at home. The amp sounds best at 5W and driven into either a 4ohm cabinet or two 8ohm cabs. If you use it to drive an 8ohm cab, you are getting only 70% of its potential. I only use el84 based amps. i love their dark, throaty sound, and while this amp doesn't have the punch or snap I get from my 15W custom built el 84 amps, it sounds great for rehearsal or recording. I am a little bit worried about long-term build quality. The input jack is plastic. I have a hard time seeing that surviving a year of rehearsals without breaking. This is a great supplemental amp for rehearsals and recording. Very smartly designed. Good feature set. And if you like the el84 style sound, it delivers it above expectations at this price range. I'm thinking of getting a second one.klktrk
In these days of small solid state, practice amps, this little amp gives you tube tone and more at a very affordable price. A 12ax7 preamp tube and an EL84 power tube provide the tone along with built in reverb, 2 band EQ, gain and a "phat" overdrive switch for added crunch. The three stage attenuator is a nice touch. The stock Bugera tubes are OK but I switched them out with Tung-Sols which provided a rich creamy overdrive more to my liking. Great sound when plugged into my Orange 8" or 12" cab plus headphone jack for late night playing. Great amp for the price!Isom

Reviews:
I bought the amplifier based on sound clips and others reviews. I love the amps clean channel with OD, Eq and delay in the signal chain for my driven sound. It gets a very articulated, clear, deep throaty sound that is intoxicating for rock sounds. I only have to turn it up to about 4-5 to be clearly heard in the mix. I don't care much for the OD channel as I find it a bit harsh for my taste, even when I dial it back a bit & Eq. it. The only comparisons I have are to my VOX AC 50 and Mesa V mark 25 valve amps. This amp is a great, inexpensive alternative that is ultimately portable – glad I bought it!Dr Crusher
This is a good amp that will give you different results based on your pickups and speaker cab. The tone stack is a bit dark so I like it less with humbuckers than with single coils, but it's still very useable either way. Depending on how you set it, it may or may not have trouble cutting through a band mix. I haven't had that problem, but my amp is always mic'd and we don't play super loud. The dirty channel is – from what I understand – more like an OD pedal overlaid on top of the clean channel. It sounds good and has its own lo/hi EQ and can go from a semi-clean boost to about as much gain as a tubescreamer or the like. Sounds very good, IMO, to the point that it would be possible to use this amp with no pedals for a gig. And it does take pedals well – I haven't run into anything that doesn't sound good. Overall this is an excellent lightweight amp that sounds great and is very giggable. I don't know that it's "better' or "worse" than "a tube amp" (as if tube amps are one generic thing). It just sounds good. I've never felt it lacked anything. I run it through either a 1×10, 1×12 or 1×15 cab and all sound great.Al
Love the clean channel – sparkly without ice pick highs. I don't care for the OD channel, it sounds too harsh for my style. I get the sound I want through an old GenX 2 from Digitech fed into the amp & out to 2 single 12" speakers. I'm blown away by how loud this little amp can get. It gives a full, thick throaty sound that is very articulate and gives singing highs when needed. The portability and sound delivery is amazing! I bought the open box model and couldn't be happier. My main amp is a Boogie & this sounds close – quality sound.Dr Crusher

Reviews:
It's all right for a beginner but the action needs altering. its far away from neck!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Reviews:
I ordered a positive grid 600W head it arrived defective and I returned it the next day I then ordered and paid for a second one because I didn't want to miss out on the deal. Well today I called them because the second head was not being shipped and I was told that I would not be getting the second amp because they were out. They are refunding all my money that's not the problem the problem is I was told they had another to sell me which I was find with even though they should have set one aside because they knew the first one was being shipped back. I was not even offered a deal a a rack one which they have in stock I think I should have been offered a deal on one of the other positive grid. I guess I won't be coming back terrible customer service.carl2-82833
This amp is incredible. Having pretty much any sound at my fingertips, in a unit which can go from whisper quiet (but still great sounding) to stage volume is awesome. The knobs/switches etc all feel like very high quality, and the added software licence is a nice bonus. It may seem pricey, but it is way, way cheaper than buying all those classic amps, and the sounds are indistinguishable. Can't recommend highly enough.malediction99
I was very excited to get the Bias head after many reviews online. To my disappointment, it seems that this amounts to a midi controller for the Bias Amp software and pretty much nothing else. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any kind of usable tone out of this (possibly due to my own lack of understanding or maybe it needs to be run out of a cab) but, the thing that made me give it a two star rating is that I found out the Bias FX software cannot also be used with this head. There is so much more that could have been done with this thing. I am very disappointed with the execution of this product and had hoped for something more than the bare minimum amount of functionality.NICK

Reviews:
I use a Korg Pandora Mini multi effects processing unit to achieve a large spectrum of sounds. That is another unit that I recommend guitar players to use to compliment the sound and functionality of this Pignose Hog 20 amplifier. The Hog handles pedals very well, as I also unit a Biyang Compressor Unit and an Electro Harmonix Linear Boost Unit (both seperately). I have not tried a Distortion or High Gain pedal unit to achieve METAL-esk sounds but I am very sure (almost to a certainty) that this amplifier can handle it. I hope that my review has helped guitarists make an informed decision about this product. It is a very practical and inspiring product that EVERY guitarist should have as a practice aid. Good luck to all of you on your musical and technical guitar journeys! Peace! Ok, so let me begin by telling y'all what this amp does. The Pignose Hog 20 is a RECHARGEABLE amplification unit that does what it is supposed to do; produces a clean sound. This sound is very clear and articulate. I will be yet another reviewer that mentions this amp's strong suit is it's CLEAN setting. The amplifier also has a TONE knob to adjust the brightness of the sound, as well as a SQUEAL knob to add an OVERDRIVE voice to the sound. This SQUEAL knob IS NOT a distortion knob. It is best used as a clean boost or to add a small amount of GRIT to the sound. If you are looking for a GAIN suited amplifier, this unit is NOT for you. If you are looking for an amplifier that inspires you to create and play than look no further. This amp is for you! This amplifier is 100% portable. Once the unit is fully charged one can easily take it to a park, garden, school, play ground, lake, beach, or ANY place that does not have an electrically input. Be warned; the juice on this unit only lasts for 8 hours so plan accordingly. The amplifier is very sturdy. Though it is small and compact, and can easily fit into the trunk of a car, it is somewhat heavy (weighing at about 15-20 pounds; maybe less). I can not attest to it's long term functionality for I have only owned it for a week. This amplifier is a STEAL! Its value and practical use far exceeds its cost. My only criticism of this product is that it takes 4-5 hours to charge in the wall before use. This is not an overwhelming disadvantage, only a point worth mentioning to potential buyers.
This product does exactly what I wanted it to. I have to play a wedding with my acoustic at an outdoor event this week where there is no electricity. With an acoustic guitar, you do have to watch where you place it because it will feedback if you're not positioned correctly, but that's no problem because I'm outside. The squeal knob is pretty much worthless to me, but maybe it's better with a solid body electric. I purchased a battery operated ZOOM MS-50G pedal, just to add some eq, compression, chorus, delay and reverb to the Pignose and I couldn't be happier with the results — especially when you consider that this is a battery operated amp.inthesticks53
Don't think this amps 20 watts will be loud. My Jca22h 20w will bury this amp on less than 1. Most 15w and some 10w amps will out do the pig by a long shot[even a 5 watt tube amp] The pig does'nt have a lot of clean headroom either but it's enough for what it's for. It has a decent crunch and distorts easily with humbuckers at higher volume. I don't personally care for the "squeal" knob.Too much "odd" harmonics. What its good for is that it's rechargeable, super portable, and the charge lasts a good bit with the dual beefy battery packs in the back. You can take this anywhere and play. No electric….no problem. And that's a good thing. The best feature is the built in battery packs that can be recharged. Lasts quite a while on a charge too. Well built. Feels and looks solid. You can buy a Fender champion 600 tube amp for the same money or a Fender frontman 25 for less but they're either much larger and you have to have juice to run them. So the value ain't bad for what the pignose gives you.gamjamm

First off I'm an old school Sound Engineer. This little Amp does it all. It has so many uses even though it is so simple. It will teach you to learn to use the controls on your guitar better. Unlike several modeling amps this little piggy takes most stomp boxes GREAT!! Maybe he best feature is its Pre Amp Out which allows you a line into the PA or it will blow you away going into the input of your tube amp giving you a realist boost over any stomp box. At low volumes using the proper guitars pickups sparkling cleans. and this Piggy was made to be dirty. Best tool to have as a back up. Great traveling amp. Battery Life is goes a long way just get rechargeable and carry a small battery recharger in its little closed stash compartment. I don't recommend using the power cord. I'm sure there are some youngsters that differ with me but the old schoolers that like it raw and understand how to dial in their tone without playing with mods will dig this amp/fuzz box. If you have a nice clean tube amp but want some growl and extra volume pre amp this baby into your amp. I have several pedals and over drives and most all become thin bringing up the volume compared to this. it just gets thicker and more meaty as you increase the vol. My buddy are blown away with what comes out of the PA with this little Piggy and just a couple of effects my 86 RAT with this work well together.Cool mixes
I have the tweed covered version of the legendary 7-100, so it sounds the same as the leatherette covered version. I was very surprised at the rich tone of this amp. I am using it with 6 AA's not the power supply (dont know what difference that makes tonally) and it sounds like a tweed champ. You can get clean tones that have just a touch of twang with single coils or weaker humbuckers (gretsch) at a lower volume and form 1/4 of the way up you get progressively more and more tweedish ( let's face it-tweed breakup is basically distortion that fuzzes up as the gain increases) type distortion. With a tele you are in rolling stones territory, and with a humbucker equipped guitar you are in Neil Young land. It is awesome for recording, just stick your mic in front and go! It takes pedals well also. I love the simplicity-no time spent tweaking controls, plug in and rock. That said; this is not an ideal amp for a young beginner guitar player. A young kid will not appreciate what this amp gives. But for experienced players who like a "tweed' tone at a dirt cheap price this cannot be beat. Also, dont listen to the nonsense from guys who own one of the "original" ones that these new ones are no good-that's crap. The circuit has not changed regardless of who constructs it.padraic9143
Mr. Chatter is a great. The Pignose sounds line a vintage amp that gives you vintage guitar sounds from the 60s and 70s. This is a real analog amplifier not digital modeling The. Pignose is hand made and a quality piece of gear that will give many years of enjoyment with its rugged construction and quality components. The Pignose is surprisingly loud and versatile. The output jack allows you to send the Pignose to an amp or power amp/PA. I recommend getting the wall wart to save battery usage for outside use. Even the adapter fits inside of the Pignose. I got the original brown and it goes with home decor very easily. The Pignose can do cleans, overdrive and fuzz tones and does well with single coil pickups. The Pignose is very dynamic and you need to use your volume knob and hand to control the amp, like a real tube amp. Inwish I got a Pignose years ago. It is not a gimmick … its a real quality amp for children, adults and recording professionals.tnak4528

Thank you, Nick at SxFlls Guitar Center! Having told me that he has heard nothing but good things about this amp, I ordered it on the spot. upon receiving, I noticed the quality of build. With a humbucker in the neck position Tele, I immediately dialed in a gorgeous lush attack.. Rolled back the volume, and amplifier responded with a delicious and spacious rhythm tone. Single coil bridge pickup kicked in a spank and yet round full on Tele attack. But the middle position, it was so full of bottom end beef and top end sparkle, thanks to the amps internally bridged channels. For a 20 watt amp, this thing has tons of headroom, and can fill any stage, anywhere. Thank you, Nick. Thank you Guitar Center, and thank you Paul Reed Smith. This a beast of an amp in a small(ish) frame and a great price point for what is delivered in quality and pure TONE.Brian
11. Peavey Vypyr Vip 3 Guitar Modeling Amplifier
Product Details:
The peavey vypyr vip is the first amplifier that contains electric guitar, bass guitar, and acoustic guitar amp models. now for the first time ever using our variable instrument input, a single amp can provide amplification for a variety of instrument types. not only does the amplifier morph from a bass amp to an acoustic amp to an electric amp, it also (for the first time ever in an amplifier in this category) allows the electric guitar player access to instrument models as well. the vypyr combines peavey’s exclusive transtube analog circuitry with a powerful 32-bit, floating point sharc processor to deliver uncompromised tone, making the vypyr series the best sounding modeling amplifiers available. all vypyr effects, amp models and parameter controls can be accessed via the amp itself, with no need to hook the amplifier to a computer. peavey’s wysiwyg control surface quickly allows the user the ability to see and adjust the control position — no guessing where the control is supposed to be or having to manually move it to where it should be from preset to preset. vypyr’s new usb bi-directional data and audio port provides an easy way to record and/or connect to our vypyr software and store presets, get lessons, and practice to backing tracks while connected to your computer. the vypyr vip series gives you all of the revolutionary features from the original vypyr series, now even better. more power, more effects, more amp models, variable instrument input, instrument models, and more make this the ultimate amplifier.

I bought this amp at a local Sam Ash store. I actually kept it for 46 days, but they let me return it anyway – excellent service. I had an old Vypyr 15 that I liked, and I wanted to step up to a bigger amp. The Vypyr 3 is 100 watts, and has an LCD readout, so I got it. At first, I thought it sounded pretty good, except for a few things. However, after playing it for some time, and acquiring a Jackson guitar with a Duncan JB bridge pickup, I began noticing that the distortions, while smooth, didn't have much in the way of clarity. They sound fine with run-of-the-mill power chords, but anything more complex than that got kind of muddy. The reverb and delay sounded pretty good, but the other effects were just sort of OK, except for the pitch-shift effects such as 7-string, baritone and bass, were just lousy. The 7 string was almost acceptable, with only a little latency, but it had a strange warbling sound. The baritone, and especially the bass models had way too much latency, and with the bass model, the strings need to be hit pretty hard, or there is just not much sound. Do not expect to make your guitar sound like a bass with this amp. The high-gain amp models have a strange decay, almost as if they have a noise gate set very high. Either you get feedback (which sounds fine), or the sound just drops off. I think that as I'm becoming more serious about the guitar (I'm actually a bass player who has played guitar off-and-on throughout the years), I'm realizing that maybe I don't like modeling amps. After I returned this one, I picked up an Orange Crush 35RT (also from Sam Ash) which is pretty cool. No built in effects, except for reverb, but a great sound.Stelth
It's a Great Unit the software is lacking bad. Also they took about a dozen amps from 1st gen & gave us a bunch of nonsense toy like special Fx you'll never use. I wish they would kept the old amp models & left the Electric Violin & Synth model & the Resonator Gtr 12 string…no body's going to use that stuff that what I expect from Zoom old processors they were full of Useless Patches big WOW Factor but useless in creating music. I love the Vypyr series this was a let down but some great stuff like the Bass Amps sound Great & the Acoustic well….they can pass. The Power Sponge does a cool thing to the sound you need the Sanperea Foot controller to unlock this Amp w/out it you would have no Looper Wah or Vol….It's still got some solid tones in there, the construction is not up to Peavey's former USA built Gear RIP Peavey USA. PV could take this Amp so much further they would be on AXE FX back if they kept the momentum going in R&D they should stack those SHARC chips for more Processing power & more Loop time , there's 24 bit loopers for under a bill that record 6 Hours!!!Watchman
I own the Vypyr 75 the VIP 2 and now the VIP 3. I am particular about sound and feel. I own tube amps. I have more than 7 modeling amps. I have a home studio and band practice at my home. Nobody brings an amp. This is the best tube sound of any amp I own except my tube amps but the tone is better on the VIP 3. If you like metal such as Pink Floyd, Satriani, Steve Vai,Van Halen Toto, Boston, Gary Moore, all of 80s Metal, this is the amp for you. The included Triple x amp is the best articulate and balanced metal sound I have used. The 6534 is the fattest lead tone I have ever used. The Twin is darn good and with chorus and compression it does a fabulous 12 string. The Acoustic amps are great and the acoustic SIM is exceptional. Most metal factory presets are set too hot in gain. Back down the gain. The Power Sponge is the most improved from the original Vypyr series. It really sounds like a top of the line tube amp cranked except that the sweet spot stays sweet and the bass stays tight. TUBE AMPS GET FLUBBY BASS WHEN CRANKED. This amp has booming power and it is hard to believe how light it is. The best for smooth distortion and cutting edge tube response. Better than tubes in my opinion. Tubes fluctuate with room temperature and overheat when cranked then clearity becomes compressed. I have been approached repeatedly about my onstage sound. I have a Mustang 3 and a VIP 3, one above the other. It is an incredible combo. Best of two worlds. One doing awesome Classic Rock cleans and classic rock rythns, the other doing phenomenal metal but both do all very well.
12. Orange Micro Dark Mini Valve Hybrid 20 Watt Guitar Amp Head W/effin
Product Details:
Valve/solid state hybrid design the micro dark sports a new high gain circuit which blends valve and solid state technology. the preamp uses single 12ax7/ecc83 valve and produces a huge range of usable tones with warm cleans, smooth overdrive and fat, singing distortion. its solid state output section puts out 20 watts and can be can be paired with any 8 or 16 ohm cabinet. shape control our exclusive shape control varies the midrange response whilst interacting with the bass and treble. working from the 12 o'clock position, a subtle nudge to the left adds more midrange and smooths the highs. a clockwise notch or two reduces the mids and brightens the tone. at the extremes the shape's effect becomes even more pronounced, especially as you begin to push the gain control. a scooped, thrashy voicing with an aggressive 'smiley face' eq is easily achieved in the fully clockwise position, whilst turning fully anticlockwise boosts the mids, for a more classic 'bark'. buffered effects loop the micro dark's fully buffered, low impedance loop allows for any number of effects and cables to be patched in without sacrificing tone. it's incredibly transparent, meaning your pedal arsenal will perform to its absolute peak. cabsim headphone output a popular feature on our crush series amps, the headphone output includes our cabsim circuitry which faithfully emulates the sound of a mic'd orange 412 cabinet loaded with our flagship voice of the world speakers. use headphones for silent practice or connect to a mixer/recording console to capture huge, authentic orange tones in the studio.

I’ve known about these for years but never pulled the trigger until now, I wished I would’ve gotten it sooner. I ordered the Yamaha on Saturday afternoon and it arrived on Tuesday morning, great job AMS! I opened it and immediately plugged in my SG. I was very pleased with the sounds from this amp. After watching many reviews I thought I’d skip the clean, crunch and lead channels, I went straight to the Brit hi and Modern channels and I wasn’t disappointed! Studio quality tone and very responsive to volume controls on the guitar. Most importantly, this little amp makes you want to play – highly recommend it!
Overall: overall – maybe the best sounding low wattage amp ever. only small difference in sound between this & a tube amp. weak point is lack of features. they really skimped. twice the price of other compared to other practice amps that have way more features. you're really extra paying for tone here.pro's – * truly terrific tones* even if you have a tube amp that sounds good at whisper volumes (i have a 15w egnater tweaker) it's so convenient to be able to play this on top of your desk.* clean and modern settings are fantastic. i don't use the other amp settings much, but they sound great as well. the only setting i don't like is brit hi.* effects sound good* tap tempo* good tuner* the features are weak* pricey – other practice amps have many more features. they sound pretty good themselves (just not quite as nice as this). so if features are important to you, get something else. digital amps these days all sound not bad to downright good.* are the tones here so much better that it's really worth double other companies' amps? honestly hard to say, but this one does sound the best* can't save settings* one knob control of all mod effects is really limiting* can use the software to tweak settings and effects, but as soon as you unplug, you lose them* max volume on delay is occasionally not enough. usually it's ok. but sometimes, you want a little more & doesn't have it* as mentioned, brit hi setting not that great* the name "modern" might be misleading. i mentioned that modern sounds good, but, it doesn't have enough gain to get you into mesa rectifier range. you're going to need a pedal for that.A
Overall: I have been wanting to leave a review of the THR5 for awhile now. Prior to purchasing it, I had used a 10-15 watt Orange Crush Amp & a Blackstar Debut amp. Neither of those 2 amps were exactly what I wanted but for the price, served a purpose. I was hesitant on purchasing the THR5 because it was twice as much. I have no regrets. If you have not had the chance to try the THR5 in person, video reviews will not do it justice. What I was looking for was a small amp that had sufficient effects built in so that I didn't need to hook up any pedals during an impromptu practice session. The Hall reverb is my favorite and was worth the price alone if it was the only reverb included. All of the amp models sound great, although I tend to only use the clean channel or crunch. Crunch can be toned down to remain clean but adds saturation without becoming distorted. Another bonus was that with the included software, additional compression and gate effects can be adjusted via a computer. These can be set as defaults for when after the amp is unplugged from the computer. I have used it with pedals and loopers as well. Its built well, metal casing. Aesthetically pleasing to sit on a shelf. Extremely lightweight and portable. Honestly this is the best practice/bedroom/portable amp that I have ever owned. I can not say enough great things about it. zZounds is also the best online music retailer I have ever done business with. Thank you for years of awesome customer service.

I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. I started playing my Mustang Bass through this and it did the job. It's a small amp, not a practice amp. This is perfect for camping trips, rocking at the office or kicking it in the backyard. Oh yeah and you can plug in 1/4 headphones and keep the concert to yourself. It runs on a 9-volt battery or you can plug in a 9-volt adapter.SERGIO
Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. It's not clear sounding and my goal to play through an amp is to sound good and I felt if I actually played this in front of people, the muddyness would make me sound amateurish. So, for what you pay for this, yes, you get amplified but it's not real great quality, unless you're a metal player because you don't get a clean sound from this. I rate this 3 stars because it's convenient to have a portable battery operated tiny amp that you can plug into and get sound from, however, the quality almost makes you not even want to play it.Jesse
This ain't no micro cube or vox. This less than 20$ & runs on 1 9v battery or 9v plug in the wall.(transformer not included)& Holy Friggin' Smokes does this baby perform.Monster overdrive tone & super bright, clean tone.Headphone input.Probably exceeds 60 decibels, which is beyond city ords. could get U a fine it's so damn loud. My Strat Squire sounds soooo Fender good out of this lil sucka & my electric/acoustic, sooo crisp.Ultra light to carry around.I've been using the JOYO mini,I love it,plug in,no chord, fun but this Fender mini is a bit more.More tone options and louder.I've yet to find out how quick it eats batteries. The JOYO burns them up fast.Get the rechargeables. Also the JOYO has an MP3 input. This doesn't. I run guitar strap thru the handle so the chord is like non-existent or U can old school it and have a 10 or 20 ft chord. So light it can be pulled over by the chord. These mini amps also pick up radio signals. When I turn them on I can hear radio stations at certain angles. So get 1 for the road. It's all about the fun.annoyingted1

First of all, being able to save 128 of your perfectly dialed in presets with an all-tube amp is so amazing. One feature I really like is that as you move into different banks, it will keep your sound your playing on until you select a preset in your new bank. I own this amp, I've done a few gigs and recordings with it and it sounds incredible. I highly recommend using a cab with vintage 30s in it.. I think you'll get the best tone with those speakers. All the channels are great, I use the clean, lead and ultra the most.. but only because the crunch isn't my style. Sparkly clean channel. Tons of great, heavy, clear distortion from both lead and ultra channels. The digital built in effects are great.. the only downside is the reverb is digital and I prefer a spring reverb. But with all the other qualities of the amp, eliminating other pedals, giving me the best tone I've had, and giving me instant access to my favorite sounds, possibly getting a spring reverb pedal in the future is no big deal. It has the best features, great tone, great price = best amp to me.ESPguy-suFG3
I am nowhere near famous, but you would never guess that by my soon to be moth-balled rig. I use to lug, and get quite a work out doing so, Mesa's Roadking, Triple Rec, Triaxis, Mark IV and Studio Preamp amps with 2 Simul-Class 90/90 power amps and get this, 4 Recto Stereo 4×12 cabs with 2 Randall CS215 ( 2 x 12 + 15) cabs with a 22 space rack system, plus midi controllers out the butt. Thats a lot of gear to drag out to play for a few hours but I have been through so many amps trying to down size and STILL get my tone. Everytime I would buy something, it would sound great until I tried to gig with it and then I would hate it and start looking for something else. My search is over though with my recent purchase of the H&K Switchblade 100. It gets amazing tone, compariable to a Mesa Dual Rec and plus I can leave my noisy rack system at home and save my back by not lugging all that Mesa gear. I still use 2 of the Recto cabs with the 2 Randalls but now I only have to take one head to get my sound. Now if I can just figure out a way to down size my guitar store on wheels, I'll be a happy man. Just one question, an all tube amp with quality internal effects, what has taken amp companies so long to think of this?Danny7String
I saw reviews on this head and I'm glad I bought it! For any metal style of player it's pure punch and metal tube sounding! I'm extremely pleased with this head and recommend it to anyone who wants that perfect sound which can be dialed in anyway you like. The effects are very good and can be adjusted to your liking with just a twist of a knob and they all sound awesome. I must admit though unless you want to keep turning your guitars volume knob off you should go and get a noise gate and use it for the high gain channel which does have some noise at high volumes but of course this is a tube head and should be expected! And YES, this head is LOUD! I use it with a Marshall full stack with Celestion T75's and my guitars use EMG 81's and I recommend this head to anyone for any style of music especially metal! So what are you waiting for, go and get one!GTO 1968

Seriously an amp that can handle everything I throw at it…. Metal, Funk, Improvisational, Rock, Punk, Blues, Jazz…. this thing is a perfect tool for a studio stage bassist. I know a lot of people are gonna flame me for saying this, but this guitar amp replaces over five times the price of bass rack gear. Try it and you'll see…… This amplifier is amazing. I have seen the Line6 products around for awhile and finally heard one up close thru a guitarist I used to jam with and was really impressed. I checked out one of their bass rigs since I am a bassist and honestly, the thing was nice but when I decided on a whim to check out the Spider iv (mainly due to the multi effects) I was totally floored. This thing is incredibly versatile. I can adjust the eq to a perfect range for my 4 and 5 string to achieve an epic tone that I swear by. Mix that with the fact that it is loud as hell and can handle any venue that I have to play (and then some), portable, and has waaaaaay more features than I can use. Solid construction, it is my first run with an open back enclosure and it is a different tone BUT it still sounds awesome… This amp does more than my last rack set up and that thing set me back 3x as much.WC Salberg
I am an "old school" lover of classic tube amps. I play mostly acoustic shows now, but still like to jam and play electric from time to time. I was torn between getting a low-watt inexpensive tube amp or getting something a bit more powerful and versatile. I decided to purchase the Spider IV 120 stereo amp after experimenting extensively with a friend's similar amp on loan for over a month. In terms of sound, the amp has excellent warmth and touch sensitivity. The "break up" is smooth and authentic. In all, it convincingly captures the subtle nuances of classic tube sound, and I'm hard-pressed to tell the difference in some cases. Would I go so far to say that it's better than a good tube amp? Probably not, but there are many advantages. For one, the Spider IV amp is versatile and provides quite a sonic pallete for creative work. It also isn't as physically delicate and sensitive. Can't beat the price, either. I have a love-hate relationship with the myriads of presets. On one hand, one can find something useful to tweak every now and then. On the other hand, there's just too many presets to wade through. Simplicity is better. In the past, I've owned a pre-CBS Fender Bandmaster, Twin Reverb, Music Man HD130, Vox AC30 and, yes, a Marshall half stack. Over the years, amps have all come and gone. I'd love to have them all again, but can't. I've recently had stints with a Vox AC15VR and Vox Valvetronix. Liked them both. But, in the end, the fullness of sound (stereo) and surprising warmth of the Line 6 Spider IV 120 has captured my heart for the moment. Nothing like having the history of sound in rock and roll at your fingertips for a reasonable price. If you're a purist and have the money, go out and buy an expensive tube amp and claim superiority. Otherwise, leave me alone as I crawl reluctantly out of the past and try to stand on digital legs.Profdave
I've owned this amp for a few months now. It's a great versatile amp. But I've found that its definitely geared more towards players who want a high gain sound. The overdrive/ blues-y sounding channels are alright, but the high gain tones are actually not bad at all. RECOMMENDATION: If you're going to be using the high gain sounds, buy an overdrive pedal like a Maxon OD808, Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss SD1, etc to boost the amp. The low end is a little flubby and using an overdrive pedal will help the amp out tremendously. It also doesn't sound half bad for some home recording. And you can definitely gig this. Its got plenty of volume.JTallica1995

This amp is definitely worth the average $40 to $60 you can find it used for. The presets are great for pulling up classic amp sounds with the flick of a switch without having to fiddle a lot with gain controls and such. Makes a perfect fit for a beginner's practice amp that doesn't want to fuss with a lot of overwhelming controls or practice/recording amp for the more seasoned player who wants an "in the ballpark" clean, blues or hard rock/metal sound while laying rough tracks or practicing. This amp packs a surprising amount of versatility into a small package!jtwcm
Still working with the modeling feature, easy to understand but hard to figure its worth. The amp has decent loudness for its size, it's well finished and all the switches are clearly labeled. I'm glad to have it, perfectly adequate for practice and small room use. Not too heavy or large. There are lots of similar amps out there, this one has a premium speaker in it…the main reason I picked it at this price point and condition.smokey1145

20. Vox Ac4tvmini 4w Tube Guitar Combo Amp
Product Details:
Very nice little amp with a good sound despite the size. not a ton of tonal variety; but what it does, it does well. switchable output levels from 4 watts to 1/10 of a watt. the tone control doesn't seem to make a ton of difference in the sound, what it does is very subtle. i don't know if that was how they are made or not. i bought the amp new several years ago. i had it open to change the tubes a couple years back and couldn't see anything not attached or anything like that. amp is in very good cosmetic condition with just a little bit of wear in the tolex on the upper rear corners.
